Egan is awesome. He's helpful if you're unsure on something. He's very excited about his subject and makes it interesting to write.

Egan is a very knowledgeable and friendly professor but he wasn't exactly challenging. He tends to be somewhat condescending and the class earns the treatment seemingly in response to this.

It is true Mr. Egan is a total history lover, so if you're not into that, don't take it. But his class is not at all hard, in fact it is easy. And if you express your need for help, he will be more than willing to spend extra time with you.

he can get mean if your the type of student who doesnt care about the class but if you show up and write couple of essays he can be nice and approchable. pretty esay class if you do all the work

Pretty good English teacher. Does like History, but the book read in class is interesting. There are a few essays, but its an English class so that should be expected. Helpful and will take interest in you if you take time to talk with him. There are some quizzes too from the reading.

He is a great teacher and is very helpful if you have a hard time on your essays. He loves to teach and don't miss more than 3 classes. Just show up, do all the work, and you will get an A!

VERY good teacher. Not much homework, just a few minutes worth of reading and the essays. He grades very easy on the essays and sometimes changes things (assignments and scheduling stuff) to make them easier. It's impossible to not get a B or A as long as just put SOME effort into the papers.

I loved Mr. Egan. Very generous with his scores if you make an effort, and was always really encouraging. Wrote me a recommendation letter and really seemed to care about where I ended up and what I was doing. One of the shining stars of MC, and an all-around great guy in and out of class.

Easiest English teacher I have ever had. Explains everything in great detail, which somethings is boring. Lets class out early(like an hour before it ends). Appreciates participation in class, answer questions and you will do fine. Very easy to get an A; show up, participate, and do what you can on the test and essays, he gives credit for anything

Overall hes a good teacher. hes got a good sense of humor. if u put out the effort he tries to help u out. his vocab and grammar quizzes r way too easy (easy 10 points each week). he started off grading my friend and me kinda hard, but the more involved we got with him (talking to him and stuff) the easier he got with the grading.

Wonderful teacher; wonderful person. Really plays up the "befuddled old guy" act, but don't let him fool you. He's sharp, and has the entire works of Shakespeare memorized. Class is very easy if you're good at writing. If you're not, he will help you. Do not try to figure out his grading system; I think he keeps it vague so he has lots of leeway.

Great English teacher!! He's so funny and cooky too. He makes class interesting and is very helpful. Definitely take him for English 1A, take it from a GOOD student. Had a great time and the peer reviews for your essays are very helpful.

He is a very good English teacher; you end up learning a lot from his class. Lots of work (you end up writing over 10,000 words). But if you do lots of brainstorming or if you are just a good writer, you will get good grades on essay papers. He's a cool guy and less of a hard ass then he shows.

EGAN is the COOLEST! You dont know he's an easy teacher until you get your grade on Webstar, the grades are very ambiguous. You learn a lot, and have fun. I wish I could read his mind cuz I know he is laughing at half the students but in a good way. Lots of writing be prepared, but he will not let you fail.

Easy A if you do the work and put in effort. By that I mean, brainstorming, having several drafts, and asking for help.

no matter the eng class theres goin to be writing..with him its easy 5 essays and a final thats it couple quizzes on definitions only 5 a week and your done you get out early everytime easy class take it not much work

Dude, this teacher is probably the best english teach I've ever had! Egan's class is a great way to get interested in college writing. There are no real huge assignments, but a handful of quality essays are due. He hates when a person texts in class, but he's a pretty cool guy. Def recommend him if you like to write!

Great instructor. If you follow the syllabus and show some effort you will get an A or B in the class.

He's part nice grandpa type, & part crazy leprechaun. He has favorites, & it's a lot of writing. But, he's there for you if you need it, you just have to put up with the weirdness. He scares students that aren't serious out of the first few classes, & he's pretty successful at that. If you do your work & write at least ok, you'll be fine.

Egan's a cool dude. He actually cares about you as a student, which is great. Show up, do work, listen in class, and you'll do fine. Sometimes I felt like he didn't provide much direction in assignments, but he's always willing to help when needed. Oh, and turn your cell phone off--he hates cell phones in class!

Egan is an awesome teacher and really helpful with everything in class. He'll stay after class to help and is great to talk to about school and life in general. Writing assignments are really easy the way he explains it.

Great teacher. Very helpful and is an absolutely easy grader. Just attend class and write okay essays. I just wrote about interesting things for my essays and I got all A's. I never got A's on essays before.

Egan is a fine teacher. He's not anything amazing, but he's not bad. His classes are pretty boring, but you have to be there if you want a good grade. You have to write 5 essays and a 9 page research paper, 20 something one-page reviews, and read two books. I'd probably take him again.

Any English class is a lot of work, but Egan makes it bearable. 5 essays (~1000 words each) plus 1 research paper (~2750 words) and you can drop or not do 1 essay. Read 1 book. Very important to attend class. Essay topics are easy to write on.

Mr. Egan is an excellent teacher! I always looked forward to go to his class. I didn't always enjoy writing before, but the writing assignments are simple and fun. I wouldn't necessarily say he is an "easy A"--but if you do your work, SHOW UP, and aren't excessively annoying (lots of talking, cell phones, late to class) then you will be fine.

Great teacher, he takes the time to explain everything to you. I was absent a ton during the semester just do the essays and be there for the peer review. Just do the work ad you will be fine.

I LOVE MR.EGAN. Definetly the best english teacher i ever had. If he taught any other classes i would take it in a second. I always hated english class but after taking him I really loved it. Writing was also a big challange for me but he is such an amazing teacher I now love writing.

funniest teacher on campus by far. goofs off with the students ,you have to write 7 papers and is allowed to drop one by the end. besides the essays there is a research paper and about 20 journals entries and that's about all you have to do. go to class he gives out really stupid quizzes like " what is your name" to hurt your grade if you don't go.

Professor Egan tells you exactly what he wants and is happy to assist students who try their best. Attend class, listen, put some effort into your essays, and you will be happy with your grade. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

5 essays@ 1000 words(Drop lowest),1 research paper@ 2500 words.Macbeth+Hamlet.It's spaced out &doable.Other English teachers pile the essays the last week.Egan is very clear and organized. Likes to joke around with the class.English with Egan was the best. If you put effort you will get an A. The men seemed to enjoy the class more than the women.

Amazing teacher! he notices individual efforts and definitely does not put up with excuses. Attendance is required but he makes class tolerable with his organization and his jokes. He is very intelligent and also very funny. However, he is a hard grader when it comes to essays.

Egan was funny and helpful. You have to attend the class but its easy to sit there. He has you write essays and a research paper. As long as you put effort into the class its really easy. Supposedly he is hard on essays but I made effort and did great on all of them. Would love to take another class with him.

Egan is a stern but fair man. He holds your hand through the entire course, especially when writing papers (1000w, due every 3 weeks). Frequent quizzes on readings. If you aren't a good writer you may struggle a bit with his grading which focuses heavily on grammar/structure. No phones. Attendance is mandatory. Not an engaging class, but not hard.

Egan is hilarious! I looked forward to class purely for the entertainment. He helps you every step of the way through all the essays. He wants you to do well. Would take him again if he taught higher than MO1A.

Interesting teacher, Funny at times. Harsh at times also. Makes you do a presentation in front of the class and rips into people pretty bad. Very opiniated old fashion man but motivated to help teacher. Never deny's a student help. Put in about 2-4 hours a week outside of class and you will get an A no question.

Egan was a great teacher. Has a funny sense of humor. You will need to work in this class, but if you need help, he'll bend over backwards. Don't be a jerk and act out in this class. He deserves to be treated with respect. I highly recommend taking this class with him. You will be taught grammar, but it's easy. Papers are fun too!

He has by far been my favorite professor! His class is fun and I learned some invaluble techniques from him.

This teacher is awesome. He clearly explains everything you'll need to know for his class. He's very approachable and will go the extra mile to help you if you don't understand something. It's fairly easy to get an A in this class, because all you have to do is pay attention. But remember :NO CELL PHONES.

Egan is very nice most of the time and really does have his students best interests in mind. However, you must read the books and attend class or your grade will suffer. No make-up quizzes and no cell phones! I got an A very easily just because I showed up. A quiz every week and about 3 essays and 2 research papers. Easy class if you do the work!

I recommend Mr. Egan for English. Don't take this class if you plan on slacking off all semester. There are quizzes every week on the reading. If you don't read, you won't do well. He's a super nice guy who is willing to help you with any questions. I'm by no means am the hardest worker and I received a B. 3 absences allowed. Be prepared to learn.

Mr. Egan is helpful in the sense that he is easy going with the people who doesnt interfere what he says. Unorthodox way of teaching. No cell phones in the class. Not so polite but even can't say he is rude. I would rate him 4/5.

Participate, but don't be argumentative. Do all of his assignments. Assigns 2 research papers that are the majority of your grade, so you need to do a GOOD job. Feels like a repeat of 12th grade English, but you gotta do it. Don't miss classes, and be respectful. No phones either. Don't even try.

He rambles alot and is rather dry in his humor. NO CELL PHONES you will die. dont skip class, you miss 3 and he drops you. reading quizes and grammar quizes , they are easy but only if you understand the lesson. HE DOES NOT GIVE A's ON PAPERS. ive gotten B+++'s on every essay and im an A student. if youre cool with an easy B, take this class.

Nice guy but does not give A's. Be prepared for one 12 page argumentative research paper and another 8 page paper!! Otherwise, there are a few short papers 2-3 pages long and lots of quizzes on the reading. Not the hardest class but definitely not the easiest. Put your cellphones away or else you will never hear the end of it...

As long as you do the work you'll pass with a B or A no problem, it's a lot but he gives you plenty of time to work on it for most of the assignments. He rambles quite a bit and more often than not goes off topic when attempting to answer a student's question. He also enjoys picking on certain kids throughout the semester, sometimes quite rudely.

I recently finished this class at the end of the Spring 2015 semester. Mr. Egan is the kind of teacher that you want, if you can handle his sometimes-gruff demeanor. Underlying that is a deep knowledge and passion for the subject matter. He's witty, concerned, and willing to help you along if you work. He absolutely rewards hard work accordingly.

Professor Egan is an honest grader and teacher. Pretty basic English class, a few papers that are expected, and I had to read Hamlet. I got an A, and I was not good in Enlish. Just show up and try your best. He is a pretty down to earth guy.

Professor Egan is very passionate about English. He is willing to work with you to ensure you always get a good grade. He sort of rambles on a lot which can make the class pretty boring at times. He almost always let us out early. Really liked the guy. Super easy A.

If you want a fun and honest professor for ENGLMO1A, take Egan. If you show up to class with books in hand, do the work, and get involved in discussions; you'll have no problem passing his class with an A.

Professor Egan was such a fantastic teacher. I was out sick for a good portion of the year and he really worked with me. Theres a lot of essays but as long as you try, youll get a good grade. He always made his class fun and I really enjoyed taking him this year.

SUPER easy A and very funny teacher. Stupid cheap $30 textbook. It can get (REALLY) boring, but as long as you show up and pretend to care, you're fine. Easy quizzes as long as you read. Did the bare minimum and still got an A. He accepts late work as well and gives great feedback.

Good English professor, and was glad to have joined his class. Often times on papers you can go to him for advice/help especially on the days that rough drafts are due.

If you want to get an A, spend some times to read the book he asked for then you'll get good scores on quizzes. If you're not sure what to write on your paper, he'll help you out just talk to him.

Egan is a cool guy but the class was boring. Repeats himself. Pretty funny but some people may take offense. If you get a 90-99, he doesn't give you feedback on what to improve. 4 essays, easy quizzes, just read the material and you'll get an A. He does do pop quizzes for attendance at the end of class for 5-10 points(online). Would take him again

he's chill! VERY easy class. very long and boring lectures (easy to ignore tbh). easy peasy to get a good grade if you submit work on time and follow mla format. kinda critical and the essays are very rudimentary. I saw someone in my class get full credit for writing about why ebooks are worse than paper books... so don't expect a lot.
