this guy is AWESOME. so clear, so precise. knows his stuff, makes sure you do too. 1107 harder than 1110, but maybe due to it being my first semester there.

Patrick is an exceptionally competent teacher. He is ready to put an issue on the table, no matter how strongly he may agree with it, which is the way philosophy should be taught. Everyone has something to learn from him and that goes for my teachers.

EASY TESTS, EASY PAPERS, GREAT TEACHER!!!!!

Lectures and readings are easy to keep up with, and there are notes on-line. The two papers were short, and tests questions are given out a week in advance. Patrick is easy going, but is a very particular marker. Be specific, you'll be learning a lot!

Patrick is a good teacher, all you have to do is speak out a lot during class discussions and put a lot of effort in the papers. Exams are super easy!

He is very clear and makes the course interesting. Posts notes on Kwantlen website before classes which makes class easier. All around awesome class and teacher.

Extremely competent, but willing to let students debate about issues. He's not afraid to approach topics which might raise a few eyebrows (abortion, ****graphy, capital punishment) which gives his classes a practical feel. An excellent professor!

not an easy marker, a fair marker. Which is all you can ask for really. As far as teaching, it is unusual for someone who knows so much to be able to teach it so well. A nice guy too. Likes to bike, which makes him even cooler!

Really nice, fair teacher. Notes prepared ahead of time. Exam questions available a week ahead of time. Marking is fair, but follow instructions carefully. He'll even review your papers and give you pointers. Highly recommended

This is the fairest teacher you can ever have. Take his class. Just do it. He tells you exactly what you need to learn for exams. He posts pretty complete notes online and then you can add your own notes on top. 1 thing though... make sure you agree with him, you'll get better grades

Very interesting class. Patrick is a very good instructor - detailed notes, excellent with explanations. Recommend taking this course if you have an interest in morals & ethics.

The best class I've taken so far, and the best professor. He likes things to be written in an exact way though, such is Philosophy I suppose. I highly recommend him.

Very good professor. No final. Very easy quizzes (he gives you the quiz questions beforehand to study with). Overall an awesome and very helpful guy. The workload is not stressful or intimidating and you will certainly get at least an A- and probably an A+ if you pay attention and study.

Patrick is awsome. I failed another phil class with a prof then I took Patrick. He turns muddy water into something you can understand and grasp. Not only is he a great teacher but he gives you the test questions a week in advance, all multiple choice and true and false..it doesn't get any better.

Fantastic teacher. If you do not get a B or higher as your mark with Patrick, then your a flippin idiot. All you need to do is show up to class with an open mind.

nicest teacher ever. one of my favourite classes, don't really have to do anything throughout the whole semester, mostly just voluntary debates and ends classes early everytime. he really cares about students and hes easy going. his comments are also extremely helpful for guiding you onto the right track.

I didn't really like the content of what we learned, it wasn't really what I expected. Patrick is a really good teacher, he explains things in a lot of detail and really tries to make sure you understand. The tests are easy, but he makes pretty hard on the papers.Overall it was a good class if you enjoy learning that subject.

Great guy, great class. I think everyone should take this class. Sometimes he moves a bit slow, but the class is really fun and interesting. He's totally understanding and helpful too. The material is a bit tricky, but not too hard.

Findler is a great prof-one of the best I had at Kwantlen. I agree that his tests are easy, but only if you do the study questions. I also agree that he's a hard marker on the papers, but he is willing to help you out if you need it. There is some confusion in the class, but I think that's more due to the subject matter than the prof. Hot!

great prof, very fair, very helpful. 3 multiple choice quizzes all worth 10%, 3 papers worth 10, 20, and finally 30%. Gives you prep sheets for quizzes before. Talks extensively about the paper topics. If you show up to class it should be a piece of cake. No presentations. Text is easy Best phil class ive taken in terms of discussions and topics

Prof was a good/caring teacher, but some of the material was downright disturbing. I challenge anyone taking Phil 1110 to do their homework on Peter Singer (Practical Ethics author) before they sing the praises of the prof. who chose the book. Especially if you already KNOW the "source" of your own moral values.

Patrick is a great teacher, and his class was not too hard either. A few quizzes and papers and you are done (writing up my last one now, hehe). I probably won't take another class with Patrick in the future, but only because Philosophy is not a subject I'm particularly interested in.

He totally reminds me of Shakespeare! Such a great prof who inspires interest in his students for philosophy. I recommend having a chat with him once in your semester and you will walk away feeling totally englightened. Three essays, three quizes, no final

Great Prof. Very Helpful. Really nice guy. I disagree with his personal moral theory, but none the less, awesome class.

Good teaching style, phil is a hard subject and he explains it as best as he can, quiz's are fair but Patrick marks hard on the 3 essays.

unreal teacher

Patrick is an unreal teacher...I will be taking my 3rd philosophy class with him next semester and they have all been electives...his class is very interesting and he is a great guy..I highly recommend any class with him

I have taken 2 classes with Patrick and really enjoyed them! In class is mainly discussions and debates. The readings are short and simple and mainpoints are highlighted in the class notes. Hardest part are the essays even though they are only 3 pages long they are marked very critically. Overall fairly easy class! :D Oh and NO FINAL!

He's great. hard essays but easy quizes. Also he's cute:)

Patrick is a great Intro to Philosophy teacher. He gives everyone an opportunity to express themselves and the class discussions were always interesting. The essays are hard, but not TOO hard. Getting an A is difficult but you should be able to get a B more easily. All in all, great teacher, interesting class, and good marks are possible.

Cool guy, more approachable than most profs. gives good grades. its a good idea to go to office hours, he'll look over your paper tell you what to fix. class discussion was good although only a few people participate usually, which is understandable in some ways and frustrating in others. awesome class.

BEST PHIL TEACHER AT KWANTLEN, HE REALLY GETS HIS STUDENTS ENGAGED IN LECTURES AND I WAS SURPRISED HOW INTERESTED AND PARTICIPATING I WAS DURING LECTURES. HE MARKS HARD ON THE ESSAYS BUT VERY CLEAR WITH INSTRUCTIONS SO YOU HAVE TO BE ESL NOT TO GET LIKE 70%.HIS WEEKLY QUIZES ARE SUPER DUPER EASY AS HE SEND THE QUIZ QUESTIONS HOME FOR US TO STUDY.

Best philosophy prof by far, and also best prof I've ever had. Very clear, makes the material easy to understand and apply. Course structure is generally easy especially the thoughtful weekly reading schedule. Maybe a tough marker on essays but I always thought he was entirely fair.

I've never been compelled to write here but he is such a good prof I had to drop a line on here and encourage anyone who is interested in philosophy to take any of his classes. He is clear, fair and flexible. Carries the discussion very well so there's no too many awkward silences which sometime happen in crappy classes

Great prof. He love discussion, and quizzes often on the online readings, but are often easy if you read his notes. his notes are clear and concise and he is not afraid to get involved with discussions. I recommend his class to everyone.

Patrick is a fantastic professor. Philosophy is a complicated subject and I feel he is very clear when he explains things. He has 2-4 essays in his class depending on the class you take, however he prepares you very well to be able to write it. I got A's on all of mine. Having said that, you do have to pay attention in order to grasp the concepts.

Compiled his own textbook out of free works so no one needed to buy it. His class content was crystal clear, and all the quizzes were super easy. Most of the marks come from essays, which he grades pretty sternly, but his office hours are open and he always wants to help.

I'm pursueing a philosophy major at Kwantlen and Findler is by far the best professor in the department (he is also chair of the department). Very interesting, approachable and fair professor. Explains concepts clearly. Makes philosophy easy when it would otherwise be confusing.

Patrick is a great prof. As stated in other reviews, there is no final. Only 3 essays & 4 small quizzes. He always gives the quiz question in advance so if you study those it's an easy A. I learned a lot in this class & would recommend him to anyone! He also posts notes online so no need for a textbook!

Patrick is an awesome prof and I highly recommend him. There is lots of debate throughout the topics we learn which keeps the class fun and entertaining. He is one of the reasons I love university so much! If you have the opportunity to take him, do it! and bonus: He doesn't require a textbook, he posts all the reading online!

Patrick is amazing. One of my favourite profs at Kwantlen. He made me extremely tempted to switch my major to philosophy. I recommend him for anyone in any major! No textbook! No final! Great class that makes you think and learn a lot :)

Patrick is such a good and understanding professor. He gives you due-date extensions easily, forewarns about all pending assignments weeks in advance and listens to you without making you feel dumb (even when you say dumb stuff).

Patrick's class is always a pleasure to attend. He is great at facilitating debates in class. The 3 essays are based on the class discussion and debates. I suggest taking notes on important aspects of the debates in class, it'll make the essay all that much easier. Participation is huge, but he makes you feel comfortable about voicing ur opinion.

I took this class to boost up my GPA and thats what this class did for me. Patrick is an easy going teacher, his lectures are simple and if you dont understand he will go over the same topic again but with a different example. He's open to discussion about the topics in class. Make sure you take notes on lectures, it helps with writing the essays.

He's a great and caring prof. 50% of course is based on group work, so choose group wisely. Essay marking is a little on the tough side.

Great prof! Flipped classroom. 1st 3 weeks are lectures on theories needed for the semester. Rest is groups teaching each chapters questions. 2 quizzes, 1 group lesson plan, 1 group report, 1 individual essay. If you understand the material he teaches in the beginning, this class should be a breeze. Make sure you have a good group!

Best professor ever.

Patrick is a great professor, he really cares about this course and does a good job of teaching it. I have taken two of his Phil classes and they were both great. 10/10 recommend. just be prepared to be challenged on your views and looking at both ends of an argument. he does two debates and does ask everyone to participate to earn their mark.

Patrick was a great professor and really got me interested in philosophy. Whether you take this class for credit or just enjoy philosophy, he makes it easy enough to get an A. His lectures are interesting and manages to keep the class entertained.

Amazing Prof.

Patrick is an articulate teacher and a super cool person. The two intro classes I took with him inspired me to major in philosophy. He prompted us to form our own opinions on the subject matter rather than just throwing theories at the class. I can't wait to take more classes with him in fourth year!

Great teacher, super easy syllabus. Syllabus contains of 5 Quizzes worth 5% each, 5 Short Writing Responses worth 10% each & Discussion Forum Participation worth 5% each.

I took this class a while back but came to say Patrick is one of the most amazing profs I've had. He knows the subject and is very passionate, but is also highly encouraging to students. He loves to see students are engaged and excited. After my class with him, he continued to say hello to me in the halls whenever he saw me. A wholesome guy.

Very easygoing and an excellent professor. I would recommend him for PHIL 1100. He makes the lectures simple to understand and you can learn them easily. He is very approachable too. I took the online asynchronous class, he gives No assignments, just some Forum posts and exams every 2 weeks.

Just took PHIL 3033 with him and he is just amazing. Just watch his recorded lectures and very few readings each week to do well on his exams and forum posts. 5 exams and 5 forum posts. Oh yeah and exams only consist of MC questions. He even gives questions from the exams beforehand to study for, so you really can't mess up. Overall my fav prof!

Great guy and easy class that really only requires the bare minimum. Simply do the readings and complete the (easy) weekly quizzes and discussions which make up 55% of your grade. Only other assignment is a final paper which really isn't that hard because the topics are all based off of readings. 100% would recommend Patrick.

awesome class, material isn't hard if you pay attention to lectures and read the assigned material (not too heavy on reading which is nice) there's a small test after every unit only 15 Q's, and a discussion forums as well. no final or cumulative exams

Great professor who makes the material engaging. Lots of group work, so choose your team wisely. Exams are easy if you keep up with the lectures and readings. Unstuck study was a huge help for preparing and saving time.

Loved his moral philosophy class! Very interesting lectures and really encouraged participation/discussion without forcing his personal beliefs. Blended course was completely online except the first day. Marks from only discussion forums and open book online quizzes with all questions provided before hand. Put in a bit of effort, and easy A+.

Findler is a good prof we have good discussions in class, no final exam 5 tests spread out through the course. There are crash courses and readings prior every lecture. Simple and straight forward some stuff is quite interesting take him!!

Honest and caring prof. Dont expect to cut corners in this class. U gotta take notes on the slides he provides but tests are only on covered material. great prof and a great learning experience (˶˃⤙˂˶)

Professor Patrick is very understanding and knowledgeable in the field. Make sure to take notes during class. and attend all lectures. they do matter a lot. the course overall was easy just keep up, ask questions. Contribute to discussions makes lectures more fun. He can take a minute to respond to emails don't be afraid to send a follow up.

The best prof in KPU! He's an angel! I absolutely LOVED his class! I learnt so much in his class! I loved every bit of class because it was so engaging, there's a lot of class discussion which is super helpful, you are encouraged to participate, not forced! All of my hard work in that class payed off! If you are taking philosophy, take his class!!
