This is a fantastic course. Geared towards two types of students, those well-versed in computational theory AND those who are not, this class leaves no one unhappy. This semester Grim is using a robotics project to provide students a unique experience.

Very interesting professor who knows his stuff. Class teaches some interesting things. Lecture sheets are annoying but are easy and keep you on track and help you do well.

Pretty easy class. The only problem is that he minuses 2% of your grade each time you are absent which is pretty annoying. In addition, he only gives one extra credit assignment.

Professor Grim is an awesome teacher. All you have to do is go to class and not participate. And he gives you extra credit every time you have a test. And if you need help you can always go to review sessions.

Professor Grim is always prepared, always animated, and is simply put: an excellent lecturer. The homeworks were about 15 minutes a week, and simply by going to class and listening to what he has to say, one may pass his class and learn some really insightful material.

Patrick Grim. An anamoly among professors: prepared, concise, and entertaining. This professor meets and exceeds all expectations. I have had him for at least 3 different classes...all of which have been fantastic. He is a cool and interesting professor, def an eccentric but there's nothing wrong with that! He takes attendance through assigned seating and provides lecture notes during lecture, which makes note taking easy. Discussion and topics were uber interesting. Grim is absolutely awesome! Witty with a dry sense of humor. Class is extremely interesting, full of surprises and unorthodox teaching. You will not regret taking this class; I thoroughly enjoyed every single class, and yes you do have to attend all.

You SUNY ****s don't know how lucky you are. Take Grim's classes; all of them. Best lecturer ever. I hope UM tries to lure him back to the Midwest. It didn't matter that attendance was mandatory, because I would have gone anyway.

took a course with him at umich-ann arbor. absolutely my favorite course. ever. always prepared with power points and lecture notes handouts. funny. interesting. death penalty court case was awesome. class load is decent. COME BACK TO UMICH PROF. GRIM!!!!!!!

Patrick Grim is a visiting professor at the University of Michigan 2006-2007, and I had the pleasure of being in his Philosophy of Law 359 course. Professor Grim is amazing, I was captivated by lectures, interested in the current contentious topics and history of legal statutes, and even engaged by the readings. Take any course you can with him!

Grim taught this past semester at the University of Michigan and I had the opportunity to have him for the philosophy of law. It was an amazing and interesting class; Grim is a great lecturer and quite an interesting character. I wish I could take more of his classes, so if you go to SUNY take advantage!

Grim's class this semester was an amazing opportunity that I am fortunate to have had. His class was interesting and thought provoking. A lot of work, but I didn't mind as it was all engaging and relevant. I wish he taught at UM all of the time! So sorry I can't take another class with him!

I am so glad I had the opportunity to take Professor Grim's Philosophy&Law class at U-M. He is an outstanding teacher, and there was never a dull moment. He made lectures fun and interesting. I learned so much about the law in this class and I definately recommend him to anyone who has the opportunity to take one of his courses. He wont disappoint

I took this class at Umich. I'm a senior, and this was one of the best classes I've had here. His lectures were always interesting and so well put together, and I learned alot in this course. It is disappointing that he is not a permanent prof here. This class was engaging, thought-provoking, and informational. What more can you ask for?

Philosophy of the mind is one of the, if not the best class I ever took. As long as you attend every class, you'll do well. his teaching style was very unique and refreshing and I felt that I actually learned quite a deal. He is also very interested in the subject matter. In the end, I almost wished he was a harder grader.

Easiest class I've ever taken. One of the most fun, too. Minimal reading, 10 min of homework a week, attendance mandatory, but you'll want to go. Very engaging, makes everything perfectly understandable. Just go to class, you'll do great. Take this class.

Great Prof, awesome class... just go to class and ur going to do well. Practice exams are so close to real exams and a must. Classes are fun and he makes u listen and be engaged in the class whether u like it or not. Must take for DEC!

First of all, with a name like Grim is it even possible to not be awesome?! Prof Grim is absolutely an intellect of the highest class. I had no interest in taking phi and computers, but it was the best choice i ever made; no regrets. I learned that I'm actually extremely interested in AI.

Grim is great! He presents the notes clearly, speaks well, keeps the class interesting with varied assignments, group work, etc. Interweaves movies, relevant outside reading, current events, jokes, everything into his lectures. This man comes to class prepared 100% of the time, and expects you to as well! I highly recommend.

He is one of the best professors I have encountered here. Absolutely great. He explains the work so well and clearly. His class is very entertaining and enjoyable. He jokes around a lot and is very interactive with the students so the class atmosphere is always alive. Attendance is mandatory and he gives a lot of work, but it's all simple stuff.

He is Amazing-He's won teaching recognition awards for how good he is. 1/5 of grade is lecture notes, 1/5 constitution test, 1/5 homeworks, 2/5 papers. The TA's are ridiculous with grading but the Prof is worth taking. Homework given almost every lecture or every other lecture- do-able. He is clear and lectures are exciting. Great Topics discussed

Professor Grim is absolutely amazing!! I had him for PHI 375 this semester and I'm actually really upset that I won't have him anymore :( . He's sarcastic, witty, funny, smart, and all around a great guy. I feel like even in my exhausted, hungover, and sleepless states, I still pay close attention. The man is god. =]

Grim is perhaps one of the best professors around. His lectures are really great and his class has always been interesting. The only thing I would have liked but it is not there is a discussion on Church/State separation. Other than that, its really awesome to take a class by Grim.

PHI108 is meant to be an introduction to critical thinking; examining arguments and strategies of thought, and then grading them on their worth. To this end he is an excellent professor, engaging, easy-going, and enthusiastic. But don't take this class if you're looking to be challenged, the material is extremely easy.

This is one of the most enjoyable class that I have taken at Stony Brook. Grim is a terrific teacher and everyone should take his class. Although attendance is mandatory, he makes class very enjoyable to go to. Online homeworks can be bothersome, but they are helpful for the tests.

I don;t know why this a**hole got a chilli pepper because there is absolutely nothing hot about him. He has his t.a.'s doing all the work for him, where they grade everything. They were the two biggest morons. i was dealing with dumb and dumber! They didnt even know how to take attendance! Dont take it. Not with grim atleast.

Why everyone thinks his course is easy? Even the second third exam is cumulative! Few(no)chance to get extra credits, you need 93 or higher in order to get an A.

just look at this guys picture, yeah he loves his philosophy. very enthusiastic and fun in class. lectures go fast. very easy hw, we had about 20 of them. not much reading. perfectly modeled tests with the review sheet. memorize everything on review sheet and have no problem getting 100's. take this class!!

Grimm is an all round good guy, his class is entertaining and fun I would highly recommend him even if you don't particularly enjoy his course subjects I;m sure you'll still find it interesting enough to be worth your while, again I'd highly recommend his courses.

If you have to take this class for general education requitements then try your best to get this professor. You do need to do work in this class so if you're really lazy it will be tough. He gives you a lecture sheet every class which are pretty easy, an online quiz after class and 4 tests. There was no final and just study the lecture sheets.

LOVE THIS MAN!! The exams aren't too bad, the 1st exam is only worth 10% so you get a feel as to how he does his tests. The class is intresting. I don't think you need the text book in my opinion. Caring guy. Enthusiastic. attendence is mandatory but totally worth it. Definately the phi class to take if you need your dec covered.

This professor makes this class fun. Everything is weighed equally (tests, homework, and lecture sheets). The lecture sheets help the student to know what will be on the exam. The homework is electronic and is a review of what is learned in the class. Attendance was mandatory or else you lose points on your grade. Definitely take this professor!

He is really a fun man. He makes the classes easy and interesting. If you don't miss his class more than once and hand in the lecture sheet every time, you will be fine. 4 cumulative exams, but don't worry, if you review all lecture sheets, you will get fine grade.

He is extremely helpful and the homework he assigns are short and useful when it comes to the test. There are only 4 tests in the whole year and they are all cumulative. There is no final so the 4 tests make up most of your grade. There is one group project which was easy. Attendance is MANDATORY!! After a certain amount of absences you will fail.

Attendance is mandatory and you will have to study for the tests if you want to get an A. That being said, this is one of the only DEC classes where I learned real life skills in terms of arguments and thinking logically. The professor is really down to earth and is just really interesting.

horrible professor. gives very confusing notes. the TAs were horrible, whenever i asked them to check my tests they told me to go to the other TA and other one told me to go to the other and so on. horrible professor, horrible TAs, horrible class. definitely do not recommend it.

This guy is awesome. The class is fun and clear. You actually learn something while it's entertaining. Only bad part you must attend every single class. Attendance can hurt you really bad. Exams are cumulative but not hard. I strongly recommend him

Great professor, easy class. Attendance is mandatory! It will hurt your grade if you don't attend class. Exams are straightforward & to the point. If you do his practice exams (which count as extra credit) as a study guide prior to exams, you will get an A. The TAs are also very helpful. Does not post lectures online, so go to class & use sheets!

Honestly, easy A. Like already mentioned, attendance is mandatory so make sure you go to every class. Online homework's due before class but they are extremely easy. Tests are cumulative but very easy-just study class notes the night before. Grading is very fair. Recommended!

SHOW UP TO CLASS AND DO HOMEWORKS! You can screw up on test 1 + 2 (70 minimum grade) and if you do well on test 3 + 4 (90+) you can get an A assuming full homework and lecture sheets for attendance. If you miss a class (lecture sheet) you can make it up via either debate or gambling (you get one)

Great professor! Very down to earth. He always manages to keep class interesting. There are just a couple of tricky topics in the class like graphing arguments, but otherwise everything is pretty much straightforward. I highly recommend this class. Don't get turned off by the mandatory attendance requirement. Class goes by pretty quickly.

Grim is the man. Tests are exactly like the practice tests. Class is easy, straightforward and actually interesting, just do all the work and show up for classes. Would recommend to anyone looking for an easy DEC B, or just an easy A.

He is THE BEST PROFESSOR anyone could ever ask for. He is hilarious and tests aren't bad. If you do bad on them--don't stress, as it's 33% of your grade. But make sure you go to class and aren't late as that is 33% and homework is the same, so don't mess up on that if you want an A. Overall, best stress-free class on campus.

Professor Grim is awesome. Class consists of easy tests and lecture sheets. Homework is done online with multiple attempts. He dishes out extra credit like candy and gives you opportunities to up your grade. Recommended for easy DEC B.

Grim is THE best professor at SB. He is hilarious and intelligent. He tries to avoid lecturing and does thought experiments/group discussions as much as possible. It's not an easy A but it definitely broadens your understanding of philosophy of the mind. He truly cares about his students and he's really a nice guy. That nice guy, Grim. A++

Professor Grim is one of the best professors on this campus. He is always wiling to talk to his students, keeps a positive attitude and brings life and clarity to what could be tough and confusing philosophy work. Really improved my understanding of philosophy. Take him every chance you get!

Professor Grim is awesome. He gives a lecture sheet, and you just follow along and write notes that way, then it's collected and graded and handed back the next class. There's weekly homework but if you do the reading you'll be fine! Online midterm and final that are timed and can be tricky. I'm not a PHI major, and he is one of my favorite profs!
