This guy is very easy he can come off as being mean on the first day! However his quizes come straight from the learning objectives!

VERY VERY EASY. Just go to class and he basically tells you what you need to know on the ppt slides. The test are fill in the blank, but they do not cover much material, plus you know exactly what to know. He offers Salvation for 50 raw points!! Take him!

Low maintenance class. $20 textbook/materials. One 5 minute presentation, one quiz, some light other work, 10 page final paper. Class time is useful and you can actually learn something here. Excellent course and instructor on leadership. I recommend this instructor/class. Kinda loud, though.

Hanly's class is great. It forces you to step back and evaluate yourself in an unbiased manner so that you can strive towards potentially becoming an effective leader. Prof. Hanly is by far my favorite teacher during college. He makes class fun and interesting. He is extremely understanding, and he makes the class worth coming to. As far as grades, the class isn't hard as long as you put somewhat of an effort in it.

Professor Hanly is a great teacher. His class is quite the "experience". He can be very sarcastic and confrontational, but take it in stride and you will have a great time. I would take as many classes as I possibly could with him. He applies management to real situations. Also there is not a textbook and almost no homework.

If you take MGMT 371 with anyone else, you're crazy!!! Hanly not only is a hilarious & amazing professor, but he genuinely cares about every student. Hanley is an amazing professor. He is entertaining and makes class relevant to everyday life. Leadership was one of the easiest, and most helpful classes I've taken at Carolina. His whole goal is to "make you comfortable with being uncomfortable" so he calls people out but it helps you in the long run. If you have to chance to take 403 DO IT!!!

Great professor. Makes class enjoyable and interactive. As long as you participate (and that's not hard to do) you should be fine. Minimal assignments. MUST attend class. Definitely buy the notes he copies for you. It's $3.75 and has all the powerpoints with room for notes and read that for the test.

Honestly the only class I've ever had at Carolina that I'm sad is over. If he offered another class I could take, even for no credit, I would. Despite the level of difficulty being low, I learned more in this class and about leadership than any other class. If you're not taking him but taking 371 or 403, switch immediately.

Prof. Hanly is a true asset to DMSB. He can be a little intimidating on Day 1, but stick with him! He frequently interacts with the class during lectures and gives great examples and feedback. His tests are super easy if you study several days in advance, or a day or two before, and he encourages participation. You SHOULD NOT skip class! Recommend!

Professor Hanly is a very good teacher. Although his style may come across as loud, he genuinely cares about his students and how well they do in the class. He gives extra credit on tests if you don't do well, and there is an end of the semester presentation you have to give. Overall good class!

His lessons are actually applied in the real world, he toughens you up, and teaches you to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well. Getting up for an 8:05 isn't easy for me, but going to his class made it so much easier. He is loud and funny and uses real life examples for everything. One of the funniest professors I have ever had. He has a VERY loud voice, which will definitely wake you up in the early morning classes. Lectures are heavily participation based, with students reading slides and giving examples that relate to them. Presentation at the end of the semester, but as long as you follow the rubric he grades generously.

He is by far one of the best professors in DMSB. There is one "Quiz Midterm" super easy and a final paper thats easy. His class isn't about passing tests. take him.

Attendance is mandatory but he is very funny in class, assignments are clear and beyond easy. If you go to class and do the work, it is an easy A. GO TO CLASS! Only two exams and they are completely based on lectures. No textbook needed because he has a printed book with all the lecture notes in it that you can buy for $5. Gives extra credit if you didn't do well on an exam and gives you a week to complete. Presentation as final, read a book and just give a review on it basically. Easy A.

Hanly is the man. He makes class so easy and actually enjoyable. I had class until 5:40 at night, but I didnt mind going that late. He is anything but the traditional professor and you are only graded by a Quiz midterm and a presentation.

Professor Hanly is awesome!! His exams are not hard. Attendance is worth 25% of your grade, but he does not take attendance. His lectures are kind of interesting and he expects the class to participate. All PowerPoints are posted to blackboard. You should definitely take his class if you have the chance.

Professor Hanly was one of the best teachers I have ever taken. He is loud and funny and keeps the class interesting. He is nice and always willing to help when you go and talk to him. Attendance is 25% of your grade but he never took attendance so a lot of people did not go. I would definitely go to class since the class discussions are helpful.

If given the chance, TAKE THIS CLASS. Hanly just started teaching a larger lecture hall, but makes it just as engaging as a normal 30-student class. He is engaging and funny, and finds fun and unique ways of teaching management. There were only 3 exams, all of which were very logical. He also gives extra credit opportunities. TAKE THIS CLASS.

Overall an easy A graded by only 2 tests and a final presentation. I liked the class and the way he got everyone to participate, and I think he means well. However, on the last day of class a student presented a powerpoint and he was brutally mean to the student. Will say it changed my view of him, and honestly I expect more from my teachers.

Graded by attendance (which he doesn't take) and 3 exams that are for the most part common sense. Hardly ever lectured for the full time and makes the lecture LOUD and more interesting. Easy A.

The best professor Ive ever had. I would never sign up for an 830 but I did because of his reviews and didnt regret it. Almost all of our classes were less than 30 minutes. Our grade consisted of attendance which at the end of the semester he said it didnt matter and three exams which were not locked down and straight from his pots. Nicest man!

Not even kidding, Hanly is one of my favorite people ever. As a professor, he makes the class as easy as possible, while still teaching the material to ensure students are learning, but are still able to be extremely successful. He's so kind and will do whatever it takes to help you. Early classes suck, but if it is your only option with him, do it

If you can take this class with Hanly DO IT! He is so easy. I took this class online so the tests were open note and the answers to the multiple choice exams were straight from the notes. If you go to class and take notes you will undoubtedly succeed in this class. His lectures were sometimes as short as 7 minutes long and no homework. recommended!

Very caring and understanding. Grading is very easy and straight forward. One of the best professors I've had at the business school. Gives real life experiences and examples. Enthusiastic & calls on different student during lecture to read a slide. This keeps the class interested. But if you miss lecture, it isn't the end of the world. Take him!!!

Had Hanly for MGMT 403 and he is hands down the best professor i've ever had. Makes class enjoyable. He cold calls but he isn't too serious about it. Very few graded items. The class is all about learning how you can be an effective leader. One test and one presentation. If you ever have the chance to take one of his classes I highly recommend!

Super energetic and funny guy. If you are an introvert take someone else, because you will be called on to answer a question from the lecture. One quiz, one test, and one presentation is all the work that you do for this class. If you do bad on the test like I did, he allows you to get extra credit with a few assignments which was awesome.

This class was really easy with Professor Hanly. I went pretty much every class and all he does is read from his powerpoints (which you don't even need to take notes on). He calls on everyone to participate but easy stuff. He can be loud sometimes and only grades on 3 things, but easy A if you study and show up. He let us out early a lot too.

Take Professor Hanly at all costs. Easily the funniest and most laid-back professor I've had. The class is basically just lectures, a couple of very easy open-note exams, and a project. Very easy class. Take Hanly.

Professor Hanly is hilarious. Grades are determined by 2 open-note take home exams, an easy presentation, and attendance. Professor Hanly is an amazing professor. He has engaging relative stories to tie into lectures and keeps the class environment fun. Everyone should take him, you will learn so much including life lessons beyond school material! Go to class, take the open note exam, do your presentation and write your paper you'll get an A.

Professor Hanly is hands down the most hilarious professor in Darla. At first I was a bit demotivated to go class cuz it was an 8:30 am class, but he made the lecture so entertaining and informational as well that made me doesn't wanna miss a single lecture. The class is so easy, no weekly assignments,2 take home exams & 1 really easy presentation.

Prof. Hanly is one of my favorite professors. He asks questions frequently in class in order to make sure that you're engaged, so pay attention. All the notes on blackboard. Tests are easy. Total grade is mainly made up of 2 exams and a book presentation. I missed quite a few days with no penalties. Take him, you won't regret it!

Take any class you can with Hanly. He is hands down the best professor I have had so far at USC. He does not take attendance but believe me when I say that his class is so interesting and fun that he will get you up for an 8:30 everyday. Hanly is one of my favorite professors. There are 2 exams and 1 presentation on a book of your choice, those are the only grades. Attendance is not mandatory, but the lectures and fun and he knows his stuff. No textbook and no homework. Great class, I want to take him again.

This man made me want to wake up at 8:30 to go to Darla. He is absolutely hilarious and has life stories to talk about forever. You will get randomly picked on to read slides but honestly, this is not a challenging course. My best professor at USC by far.

Hilarious and super caring guy. He's REALLY loud though at 9:40 in the morning, but his lectures are worth it. Super easy and fun class with him. About 2 exams and a final project. Easy class, but great professor that I would easily take again. If you are a Business admin minor and you are worried about this class, take it with Dr. Hanly.

Hanly is amazing. Very high energy guy that has a unique style of walking around the room and calling on people to answer. Keeps you very engaged. Obviously cares about each student. Brought in a few different speakers in class. Exams aren't worth much and class is complete a month beforehand before you listen to a 5 min presentation by everyone.

Classes were never not entertaining, Prof Hanly is ex-Army and definitely has some good stories about leadership. Class is super easy but demand participation. Definitely recommend

Take him if you can for MGMT 371 he is honestly the best professor to take for this course and even though I had him at 8:30 in the morning there was no homework and only 2 exams that were sent to your email so overall I say it was a pretty good class.

He is an amazing professor! Very knowledgeable and keeps the class interesting. He is extremely engaging and keeps everyone participating in the class. I will definitely take another class with this professor in the future and would recommend him to all students.

Professor Hanly does an amazing job of getting to know each person in a large lecture hall and never fails to make the class laugh. He can be a little intimidating at first, but each class just consists of him walking through each row of the classroom and asking individual questions relating to his Powerpoint lecture. Highly recommend taking him.

Pat Hanly is the GOAT. Take this man for MGMT 370. I took him last fall, but I decided that he is so good, he deserves me to come back and leave him a great review. Easy class, open note exams, a presentation and attendance make up your grade. The only bad part was the fact I had to take it at 8:30, but he was a great way to start my morning.

Easy class with 2 group projects but they are super easy. He wants you to talk at least one time each class but it is usually something simple.

A couple of tests(open note) and a couple of presentations, that's it. He makes a point to get everyone to talk at least once per class that is the only slightly negative thing about this course. Talk to him before class about sports or the army! He is amazing!

One of the best professors I have had a Carolina. He is so engaging and passionate about this class. He gets everyone involved in every lecture. Provides PowerPoints for every lecture, if you take notes on those PowerPoints you will have everything you need to get an A in this class. There is a project its super simple. Hanly is the greatest!

The negative reviews are just people who are soft. You will learn a lot from him because he's just about seen it all (ex military). If you can't handle a little bit of devils advocate then you would probably be better off taking a different, harder professor. Amazing guy who treats you as if you were an employee of his.

Super nice prof! Engaging and interesting during class. Weirdly disorganized so you have to stay on top of your work. He won't remind you about due dates so follow the syllabus. Hard to reach over email, but you probably won't need to email him much. Assignments are easy, once you give your final presentation you don't have to go to class anymore.

Pat is one of the absolute best management professors there is! He comes off as scary and loud your first class but he is truly a sweetheart. He treats this class like the real world and prepares you to become an adult. If anyone is offended by what he says, you will not make it in the business world. The BEST professor I've ever had at USC. People are truly so soft in other reviews, he cracks a lot of jokes, but overall cares so much for his students. He sets you up for success, and wants only what's best for you. He's also so fun to talk too! He is so funny and make it worth going to class 3 days a week. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!

His reviews speak for themselves. He is AMAZING. such a funny guy. All exams are open notes. He does call on people but that's the most work you will do in this class. He does a very good job at explaining the material. absolutely take him if you can it was the best decision I made this semester.

Prof Hanly is a great, funny guy and is very lenient towards his students. There are 2 take-home exams, which are really easy, and there is one project you have to do, which is the only thing u really have to try. Other than that I enjoyed my time with Hanly.

Could not recommend a better professor. Hanly made coming to the 8:30 worth my time, and I felt like I got a lot out of his class. This class is only graded on two exams, a group presentation, and participation/attendance, but the exams are take-home and very low stress. No homework outside of class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN. The best class I have taken at South Carolina. The best professor and cares about his students. He is very loud and will call on you, which usually stresses me out, but in this class it helped me so much. Attendance is not mandatory and there is no class except for a 5 min presentation in the second half of the semester.

The Goat. Best way to get 371 done. No homework, just show up to class. There are two projects and two take-home exams, but not bad at all. The only thing is that he won't post any grades on Blackboard. I just looked at self-service during finals week and saw I had an A, so I guess that works lol. Great guy, you won't regret taking his class!

He is such a great professor! His class is a little unorganized in structure and doesn't upload grades. However he loves to get to know his students and would go above and beyond for them. Loved his lectures they were super engaging and would get people to speak.
