Pat is a great professor who cares about his students and their understanding of accounting. He is funny, keeps a fairly dry subject interesting and light hearted, and always goes above and beyond with his fairness in grading. He explains the material well and will take the time to go over anything which is not clear as many times as necessary.

Patrick is a very very smart guy. He knows what he's doing and he is really good at teaching it in a way that makes sense and is clearly stated what's important and what will be on the exams. He's also hilarious and makes class fun and entertaining.

Patrick is great. He's a really cool guy that cares about his students. Tests are hard but there is a massive curve usually. He taught the material very well for a relatively new professor. If you take notes and do the homework, it is very possible to get an A, but you will have to work for it.

Professor Hurley somehow manages to make accounting interesting. I am not at all a fan of the subject but I still was engaged during lectures because he would keep the mood light through humor while also teaching the material in a way we could all understand. If you are ever confused he is always willing to stop and go over something again to help.

Enjoyable class with moderate work load. Felt prepared for tests and enjoyed the sense of humor, made lecture less long. Did a lot of in class work and was able to ask questions so I left class each day confident with the material.

I absolutely love attending his classes. He explains only what is important and that is what comes in the exam. He gives extra credit. Yippee. His classes are funny yet interesting. Online homework is due every monday. But he is understanding and sometimes pushes deadlines ahead :). Grading system is fair and I'm going to miss him :(

Even though the class is difficult he makes it as much fun as he can. Will explain any concept again if you don't understand. He also curves grades up by a lot if the class is under performing. Homework assignments are due every week get longer towards the end of the course.

Professor Hurley is able to make accounting interesting, which is no easy feat. He is very responsive to emails and answers questions in class, even if you are asking him to explain something again. The exams and quizzes are tricky, but he makes up for it by dropping a couple quizzes and curving grades at the end of the semester. Take his class!

You need to pay for the code for the textbook, but I literally haven't opened my book since the first day of class. He gives you packets that are better for teaching the material he is grading you on. Attendance isn't mandatory, but "Professionalism" is taken into account for your final grade, and if you don't attend class, it might be graded low

Professor Hurley is a true gem at Northeastern. He makes audit a funny and entertaining class. He always tries to accommodate his students, and he is unbelievably reasonable. Seriously, no one knew that an accounting teacher could be so cool. However, his tests are on the harder side, and he is slow to return grades.

I would definitely recommend taking this class with Professor Hurley. He breaks up his lectures with cool personal stories and interesting psychology connections to auditing. You must be prepared to participate, however, homework is manageable (1 per week), 1 midterm, 1 small group presentation on a real-life fraud case, and a few cases to turn in.

Professor Hurley is one of the best professors I have had at Northeastern. He truly cares about all of his students and wants them to succeed. Participation is key, as Hurley wants you to learn and be able to discuss the material. Thankfully he does not require you to remember useless codes from the Auditing Standards. Would take again.

Prof. Hurley is really smart & funny. He lectures by writing on a printed out copy of the Powerpoints and using an overhead projector. Participation is important, but he gives other options to earn points if speaking up in class isn't your thing. The material isn't all that difficult at first, but paying attention in class helps for the exams

Hurley is a great professor, he really cares about the students and will offer to move deadlines if enough students have conflicts with other classes. There is one group presentation and 3 group cases due throughout the semester. Participating in class is important but he offers other optional assignments to bump up your participation outside class

Professor Hurley was one of the most compassionate professors I have had. He was always interested in feedback and worked hard to make class as interesting as possible. He incorporated presentations, exams, cases, homework, and discussions painlessly into the curriculum. I feel like I learned a ton in this class without being overly stressed.

If you have the opportunity to take his class DO IT! He made an 8am Audit class that I was dreading my favorite class this semester! He really works with students to create and move deadlines and provide real world material and cases to supplement the textbook. If you have the opportunity to take audit with him, do it. I honestly wish I took some of the lower level accounting classes with him, I think I would've learned/retained much more

The case studies were really helpful to understand the material because this class is better learned by doing the procedures rather than just reading about them. Overall one of my favorite classes I have taken.

Professor Hurley is hilarious and sensible and cool. He really cares about how his students. I like how he's very hands-on and makes sure to communicate very often and well especially when it comes to doing group projects/case studies. I'd definitely retake him if possible; 100% recommended!

One of most caring professors I have ever had to date, however if you are someone who does not like participating in class, I do not recommend taking his course just because there is such a heavy emphasis (20%) on the amount you participate (He marks down the amount of times you participate in class).

Hurley is a really nice guy who cares deeply about his students. Audit is very dry and he tries his best to make it interesting and succeeds! You do need to pay attention during lectures to do well in the class and on the cases because the textbook isn't much help. If you're going to take audit, take it with him!

Highly recommend taking Professor Hurley for audit if you have the chance! He cares about his students and tries to make a dry subject more entertaining and applicable to real life.

Although Audit is an extremely dry and boring subject, Professor Hurley really tried his best to make the class engaging. He is an extremely caring professor and really puts the needs of his students first. There's really nothing to dislike about him, 10/10 personality and all you can really ask for in a professor.

I've never met a professor that cares more for his students than Hurley. He genuinely wants every student to succeed. Even though his exams are hard, the tested material comes directly from his slides (which are extremely well organized and thorough). Just make sure you understand the concepts and memorize it WELL. Questions are super specific!

Audit in general is different than other accounting classes so it takes time to adjust to the style. His lectures are interactive and his cases and activities allow you to apply concepts in a fun way!

Professor Hurley is one of the best professors at NEU. He's very caring for everyone in the class and has a good sense of humor. He teaches effectively with his own slides and you don't need to purchase the textbook. Definitely take his if you want to take the audit class.

I loved taking Audit with Professor Hurley! He definitely gives tough exams but he curves them to ensure that our knowledge is being tested without our grades being affected too much. He also genuinely cares about his students and it is clear that he doesnt want to be unfair ever. Would definitely take again.

Great engaging lecturer. No participation or attendance requirement. His presenting slides are well-made and a great way to review for class. No textbook required either. His quizes/exams can be tough but he is a fair grader and does well explaining his grading methods. I'd take him again!

If you are taking ACCT1201, take it with Professor Hurley! One of the best professors that I have had during my time at Northeastern. He genuinely cares about his students and his main goal is to help you succeed in his class. Material and exams are challenging but he will go out of his way to help you understand the concepts and get a good grade.

Pat is an amazing professor. If you show up to class, participate, and follow his extremely well-formatted notes which he gives to you, you will be set. He is also extremely caring for his students and is always supportive if you need help or anything really. He has tough tests but they are perfectly mirrored by the notes and guides he gives out.

His quizzes and tests are hard, but he's willing to help during office hours and class time, and he has a lot of other assignments that can help raise your grade. Homework assignments are easy and his review problems are super helpful.

Greatest Professor I have had at Northeastern. He truly cares about every single one of his students. The class itself is fairly rigorous, but he is a super accepting grader. He makes students want to attend class due to his passion for teaching, and his human with all of his students. He is super easy to reach during office hours or through email.

He is the boi! He is just a really wholesome and solid guy. I struggled in his class initially but by going to one office hours he set me up to end his class with an A - it's all about just starting to relook at the chapter notes before the exams and then doing the practice problems. It's a HUGE impact.

He is a very fair professor who genuinely cares about all his students. Tests and quizzes are pretty difficult but the grade you get is an accurate representation of what you put in to the class. If you stay up to date on assignments and attend office hours as needed you should be able to pass the class with no worries.

Best prof I've ever had at Northeastern. His notes are so easy to follow and he prepares you well for exams. Homework is all online and you get two attempts, he drops the lowest two grades. He drops the lowest quiz grade too. I took him for Summer 1 and still didn't feel like he moved too fast. Def take him if you can

Professor Hurley is AMAZING. His lectures are very informative, simply just pay attention and study a bit and you are set. There are four quizzes throughout the semester and he lets you drop one of them. Attendance not really mandatory. Super funny and laid back guy. Would 100% take again.

Patrick is a top 3 teacher I've ever had. Reviews are 100% accurate, he is a funny, kind guy that makes every accounting concept crystal clear. Super available outside of class and responsive. Learned a lot in his class and made me love accounting!

He is great. Attendance is technically not optional, but he is lenient on days you need help. Lectures are not boring; he really simplified the textbook, which is much wordier. He also posts all of his notes so missing a class wouldn't be too big of a deal. He also gives tons of extra credit and scales generously.

Truly one of the best professors here. He consistently goes above and beyond for his students. There have been multiple occasions in which he's stayed on zoom calls with me late into the night to help me with homework or studying. He's also hilarious! If I had any other professor I'd be failing.

Not only that but he's also an incredibly chill dude who truly prioritizes his students. This class is def hard but if you pay attention in class and do the homework it's hard not to do well.

While I was not very fond of Financial Accounting & Reporting, I couldn't have asked for a better professor. Professor Hurley was patient and encouraged questions whenever someone was confused; I always had questions in every class. The course has a lot to cover, so he had to go quickly, which could confuse some terminology and content.

This is the man. He is caring and wants you to understand the material. He always has completed chapter notes before any quizzes or exams. His class is very important. I would say attend class even though he does not care about attendance but the notes you miss, and his explanations are essential for your understanding of the course.

Audit isn't a particularly interesting class, but Hurley does his best to incorporate case studies and activities to provide more hands-on learning. The tests aren't easy, but he grades fairly.

Everything builds upon each other, so if you have questions or need help ask right away. He's the nicest and never makes anyone feel bad about asking questions. Big curve at end.

Pat is such a good professor. He would crack jokes all the time and his teaching style made things really easy to understand. His notes are very clear and he is very good at answering questions.

He is my favorite professor at NU, honestly so great and teaches accounting in a way that makes sense. There are weekly homeworks on MGH, and the hardest part of the class is tests/quizzes. Study a good amount and you will do well. You will come out of the class very knowledgable on the material. Highly recommend him!! :)

I was terrified to take this class as I genuinely had zero business knowledge going in, that quickly changed first day. This professor truly is incredible, its still is one of my harder classes but it is also one of my favorites. His office hours are extremely helpful (GO TO THEM) he grades so fairly giving as much partial credit and candy!

I couldn't recommend Professor Hurley enough. I was terrified before starting ACCT1201 but he is the most welcoming teacher Ive had. You can tell he genuinely respects his students & wants the best. He's also hilarious and even brings a huge bag of candy to each class. Im grateful to have been one of his students & hope to be taught by him again!

Patrick is a great lecturer, you can tell he is passionate both about accounting and about teaching, and he is very engaging. He was by far the best professor I had this semester. He also really wants you to do well and is very helpful with any questions you might have. If you go to class and pay attention you won't need to study much on your own.

He's awesome. You definitely want him for ACCT1201. I'm a freshman studying Business. The material can be difficult at times, but he is always willing to answer questions, and the way he formats class makes it easy to learn. He gave us candy, and he's just so nice. He's accessible outside of class, responsive to emails, and accommodating.

The only downside is that Pat is an Eagles fan. He understands his students and truly cares for them. He is always willing to answer questions, and does anything in his abilities to give us the best grades possible. He is also very open to give extra credit opportunities and is not strict in any way. He makes accounting fun!

Hurley really is the GOAT. He is so personally invested in the success of each individual student and provides lots of opportunities for extra credit. You don't need to read the textbook at all, and just need to come to class and pay attention to the lecture. He also provides a copy of his notes after every chapter!

He is actually the GOAT. I view him more as a friend than a professor at this point. Accounting is not always an easy course, but he makes it easier with all the additional practice he provides and his inspirational words.

Hurley is a wonderful guy, I have never met a more caring/engaging professor. Personally, I think his teaching style is tricky to understand, but it's more of the courses fault than his. Workload was a bit heavy because I had to practice a lot + tedious hw, but there is a HUGE curve at the end. For example: my 79% became a 92%.
