Kelly Joyner was a terrible professor. His syllabus had grammar mistakes in it, and he repeatedly cited "Harry Potter" as one of the greatest works he's read. Keep in mind he's a LIT professor. Would give good marks during drafts, and then would grade much lower than indicated. "Good job!" = B, B- to him. Quietly laughed at some students' work.

My fav prof!! Get ready to do some work but it is realistically not the hardest stuff. He is very kind and has a lot of good things to say and helped me with my writing. Had interesting assignments and I am glad I took his course. He is such a sweet guy and just wants you to do well. 100% recommend

The highest grade you can receive is 95 which makes it hard to get an A in this class. You need to be PERFECT at MLA, sentence construction, etc. He is a nice professor, but it is hard work. I learned a lot but would not want to do this again. TBH, take another class and just read They Say, I Say.

I really enjoyed Professor Joyner's WRT-100 class, and feel that my writing definitely improved. He is very kind and understanding. Homework is due each class, but the assignments are short and easy. Attendance and participation are important, but it is not an intimidating class to speak in. Joyner's feedback is concise and actually helpful.

Although he assigns a lot of homework and essays, Professor Joyner is perfect. The class is very essay heavy but he is extremely caring and gives amazing feedback so you never feel lost. He is very intelligent and he lectures are fantastic. It was an honor to have his class every week. I would definitely recommend him but get ready to write.

Prof. Joyner made writing less of a daunting task. Mostly work through two big essays, but he gives ample time to write them. He is a fairly lenient grader, and he is really accessible outside of class. Take him if you want an A and become a better writer.

Professor Joyner is a great professor to have, especially as a first-year student. This course was mainly graded on two papers, where there was a large range of what you could write about for each. His grading was clear and he takes the time to work with you individually on your papers.

Very good teacher who is very helpful and there for you outside of class. If any questions or confusion he is immensely helpful and works to find time to figure things out. The workload isn't that hard it will just take your time if you focus you can finish it with ease, but still heavily involves content and learning, not throwaway work.

The only issue I had with this professor is that he would not give a grade over 96. Even so, it is very easy to do well if you put in the effort. Great professor who clearly cares about both the course content and his students. Some of my classmates said he gave a heavy workload, but I thought it was fine. Great prof!

PKJ is a professor who only accepts one writing style. I ended well, but it took constant attendance during office hours and other professors' second opinions. His feedback is not helpful and if you take him a draft he will let you know that you're on the right track and then give a B. Doesn't help that his class feels like high-school... Boring!

Professor Joyner is the sweetest and kindest person ever. He is a specific grader but really did make me a better writer. The class never ends early but there is alot of time to do the in class work and have discussions. There are two big papers but the assignments around those papers are to help you do research and outlines for them.

He's a nice enough guy but he assigns SO much busywork it's insane. If you don't know how to write at all I understand the appeal, but if you took AP Lang almost everything he teaches is a waste of time. No content, just they say I say and annoyingly complicated and redundant essays. Impossible to get above a B w/o extra credit.

Due to the by completion grading system, Professor Joyner is the best WRTG101 professor if you're not a good writer. But this grading system is extremely unfair to better writers, because additional work to get any higher than a B. If you can find a class of his without this grading system, I would 100% recommend it.

Professor Joyner is a nice guy, and he pushes his students. He is understanding and willing to be there to help. If you actually put in effort in the class, you will get a lot out of the class and become a better writer. He can be a tough grade because the highest grade you can get is a B, unless you do extra credit. His reasons make sense, though.

Joyner is awesome! He is so kind and caring and clearly cares about his students and what he teaches. You have to do extra credit to get above a B, but I enjoyed the EC assignments! I learned so much from him and my writing definitely improved. He always made class engaging and encouraged the students to build relationships (class was bffs by end).

Prof Joyner is very caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. If you know nothing about movies, you'll learn something from him. Class uses labor based grading so as long as you do the work and show up you're guaranteed a B (A if you do 3 extra credits). Everyone loved the class so much that we all became good friends at the end.
