I took PJ Kennedy's 100 class and it sucked. He is always late w/ grading papers and late showing up for class. He grades really hard...Got a B but should have got an A...
He's horrible...unorganized...never gives you your papers back...boring...and he grades hard on purpose!
Unorganized... I thought I was, but soon realized it wasn't just me who didn't know wut was going on very much. Easy class if u care to pay attention to his tardy fits and tolerate his lack of organization. Get another teacher, you will thank me.

Very nice person, very particular about what he wants to read, I found that if you show that you are passionate about your writing, he is glad to give you A's on your papers.
Nice teacher. Grades essays very hard. Not very clear what he wants on essays. Absent quite a few times.
If you mess one thing up on your essay, he will give you a 1 instead of just marking you down a little bit. You wont know if you should drop the class until it is too late. I guess if you revise your stuff and are consistent then youll get a B. Hes always late even though he comes from 2 doors down
He does grade hard, but lets you revise your lowest grade. The topics you write on are interesting, not to hard. Read every week, and there is a Reaserch paper at the end. I got an A, and did not get A's on all my papers at all! But got an A on my reaserch. Hes very laid back, and easy going.

I'd have to say his class is very enjoyable. I received an A and felt it was warranted. A handful of people dropped his class becasue they weren't ready for ENG 101 which makes me kind of sad. HAHA. His quizzes are easy, the reading is easy, and the class is almost fun. He's a chill teacher!
He grades fairly on your papers, but if you show him that you tried your best, you'll do well.He also is very helpful. He's really laid back and really cool!!He's sometimes tardy but it's only for about 5 minutes. He lets you out early too. Love him. He's great!! Take him!!
He's a really easy teacher
This is one cocky professor. He comes off with the better than now attitude. His grading system is beyond difficult. I asked for my grade multiple times and he never had an answer. He doesn't understand that this is english 100. One of the worst professors I have had.
Unenthusiastic, kills time, unorganized, very little feed back, teaching English seems to be the last thing on his mind. A waste of time if you want to learn anything; a great class if you just want to get it over with.
Very easy class. Just try to do your best on the essays. As for the homework, just bs the homework
He's very laid back and relaxed and his reading assignments are usually interesting. He's very picky on the essays, but he'll help you revise them. I got an A. It's a good class.
Good class. Very helpful teacher. A lot of group work. Not too much homework.
awesome! he was a great teacher!
he's laid back, but that's because he knows his stuff. He literally gives you the info for the essays during lectures in class, but most people are too stupid to realize it. He'll help you out as best he can, and the homework's easy, so are the quizzes
I was so scared to take this class, but Kennedy totally helped me get a good grade. He's very straight forward on what he wants in the essays, and most of the topics we wrote on very easy and interesting.
awesome, do what you can in his class and ask for tips. He'll go through it with you and show you things to fix and improve on.
I LOVE HIS TEACHIN...N HIS STUPID JOKEZ...HEHE...HEZ SOOOOO GOOD..EASY GOIN...DO UR HW..JUST WRITE WHTEVER..HE DOESNT READ UM..LOL...YA WHATEVER..I LIKE HIM..
He was always helpful, but he does grade pretty hard. As long as u put effort he'll notice and give you a reasonable grade. I would definately take him again! Not too bad to look at either.;)
I actually had fun in an english class which is defenitely a first for me. as long as you show for class you should have no problem getting the grade
this class is tough at first, but he is extremely helpful with everything! this class is actually very intresting and time flys by quickly. by far, the best english class ever. greattttttttttttt teacher and he's hot too =)

Very good teacher, Very helpful make sure you do your h/w so you can revise an essay at the end and get a good grade... not bad to look at either
hes pretty cool, just do the reading which is not much at all. in class quizzes, 5 essays to do through the semester, he grades them hard but see them before you turn it in and he will help you a lot.
i love this teacher... awsome with essay revisions and easy hw. just do the reading and participate in class... time goes by fast! GREAT sense of humor.
I thought he graded the essays unfairly and with little to no explantation on what exactly he wanted from your paper. Not very good when it comes to a writing class.
For an English class he was decent. He is kind interesting but the class is sooooooo boring. Group activity's all the time. So if you don't like groups...don't take his class. I did learn some cool stuff though!
He is late every day for his morning 8am class. But he is a funny teacher that emphasizes clarity, yet sometimes he confuses himself and his students. Pretty easy class if you spend time working on your essays. Take him if you want to tighten up your writing.
Mr. Kennedy is a great guy. This class was a fun english class, he's got a great sense of humor and EVERY day in class is a piece of cake. It's all essays, but aren't all english classes? well maybe not all, but he's an experienced writer and helps out a lot. Two thumbs up.
easy teacher just try your best and follow HIS guidlines and what HE thinks is the correct approach to the topic. if u dont write about what he think is correct then you wont get the grade you want but otherwise easy teacher.
Awesome teacher, interesting class. You can tell he loves his job and he really wants you to get an A. Do the journals and read the short stories. For essays he lets you talk to him before and gives you feedback. Worth taking
hez the best teacher i have ever had..really very helpfull..so i recommend all of u ppl to take him for ur english class..I even tell other ppl in skl to take him if they wanna get good grade..ALL THE BEST U ALL...VERY NICE HELPFUL TEACHER IS HERE AT OCC :d
He was ALWAYS late. You will need your textbooks. Bring them to class. I didn't feel he was very helpful with revising essays until AFTER you got a grade. He seems like a harsh grader, but if you do all your hw, in the end, he is pretty lenient with your final grade. Basketball rules his life. DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK!!
Great teacher with funny sense of humor. We read interesting stories and the time in class went by quick even though it was 4 hours long. He helps you revise your essays but he grades them hard. Overall one of the best teachers I've had. My writing improved.
His homework policy is insane! He says we need to spend at least 6 hours on each essay. But with other classes, work, and etc. it is very difficult to do 6 hours on one essay
he's rude and inconsiderate
He tells you exactly what he want in is papers during inclass lecters. Do the homework and be in class to do Quizes(easy quizes) and it'll be hard to get a bad grade. He'll let you drop a paper and revise one. Can be rude though.
will help you improve your critical writing skills for sure. for all the negative comments i understand he can be rude at times but basically, his class his rules and he gives u the grade so u can just sit back and not say a word at get an A. he tells you what he wants to see in the essays so just follow it. quizes are easy so just keep up. ~EASY
Overall, Kennedy is an excellent professor. Most of the learning you do is done through the review of your graded papers. Offers extra help in his office, which is essential for a good grade, but there tends to be a long wait (30 min +). Grades your first papers rather harshley. This is kind of an attempt to force you into working hard.
Great professor with a good sense of humor. Kept the class interesting, even fun sometimes. Very critical on papers. You must be so clear. fair grader. Lot of homework that didn't go with the writing assignments.
I had him in the fall and to tell you the truth he is not real bad. Don't expect him to be on time or even spend the entire class time with him. On more than one occasion he came in and talked for like 10 mins and said that was it. Just do the homework, always bring in your rough draft as it does counts as pionts and do every essay and do put mo
do not take him, didn't learne onee thang an engish!

Great teacher. Hard grader but know his stuff. Will work with you on your papers. Good sense of humor.
If you want to know how to write a good paper, take his class! He is very helpful whenever you need his help. I read a couple of previous comments. It's not true. If you finish your homework and paper, you will never worry about your grade in his class. He fairly graded your paper.

Good, informative class. Themes to writing assignments are almost given to stress clarity and fluidity of writing. Availability was limited during summer, but class often got off early for private counselling. His knowledge of the subject is unquestionable and his ability to convey it is well above the norm. Professor is strongly recommended.
Difficult. Grades hard and seems to be lazy in class, always arrives late and lets you out early. Good personality and willing to sit down and help you with your essays. If you want something easy, he's definitely NOT the guy to take. You will need to put a lot of effort into your work.
great class. he helps you improve ur essays and really wants you to do well.
He is very helpful, friendly, and easygoing. Im in engineering major but after his class I really like literature.
He was great. He was very helpful and knew what he was doing. Anyone should be able to pass the class as long as u read the stories and put some effort into ur essays. If u dont, then dont expect a passing grade. Great sense of humor. I recomment him to anyone for sure.
OK here's the deal. Kennedy is freakin' awesome. If you don't pass his class it's because you didn't try. He gives extra quiz points and has one on one time to improve your essay BEFORE YOU TURN IT IN! He has a good sense of humor*although sometime kinda korny*a great professor that really wants you to get IT he is definitely not jacked! haha ;-)
This teacher is great. He gives several chances to pass his class and is willing to help anybody that needs it. He explains everything really well so that makes it easier to write the essays. Attend his classes because his notes really helps when you try to write an analysis.

EASY - FUNNY - HELPFUL - CLEAR i dont know how people can call him a bad teacher. He is so helpful. I HATED ENGLISH AND WRITING before his class, but he actually got me interested and now writing isnt so scary, its easier and fun.
He is a great teacher! I have seriously learned way more from him NOW than I did in FOUR YEARS of high school. It's easy to pass, and you never turn in essays the first time he says to. Usually, you will do peer reviews and then turn it in the following week. Be in class to do the homework, you will get credit. TAKE HIM!
I have taken 2 of Kennedy's classes and if I thought he was a crappy teacher i wouldn't have done that. He's funny and if you put forth the effort he acknowledges it and will help you. Yea, he's usually late. But it will give you time to do the Rules For Writers assigment before class. He's good. Take him.
he is a pretty good teacher. he is very helpful when it comes time to get your essays critiqued at his office hours. plenty of time to complete essays.
He is great teacher. He helps you how to write a clear paper. He pushes you hard, but always ready to help you.
great teacher - i'm glad that i took his class ! He always help you with your essay. However, you have to keep track with your grade, ask him every month because he won't tell you unless you ask him :)
Great teacher. Knows his stuff. I was in the 1 day a week, 4 hour class, and it was still more than tolerable. Tough grader, but writing will improve throughout the semester. He has an open mind and sometimes gets sidetracked with lectures, making class more interesting and fun. I suggest taking this teacher for 101 if you want at least a B
although his discusions can take you off the beaten path his essay topics are upfront and focused. he will help you but you have to work for it. not an easy grade but if you show up every day you should pass. DON'T MISS ANY QUIZES. all in all a fair teacher.
Very good teacher. Takes clear writing seriously, but the class sometimes is fun. Be sure to attend all classes and pass the quizzes.
Initially, I was nervous to be in his class. I'm so glad I didn't drop because Kennedy is a great professor. Yes, he's late to respond to emails and he's late or cancels class a lot, BUT he improved my writing so much. Attendance isn't mandatory, though there are some in-class homework/movie assignments. Great guy.
The best professor on campus.. His essay instructions are crystal clear. If you include what he wants you are guaranteed an A on the Essay and the class. If you don't you will fail horribly. I always got A's on my essays by just following directions on formatting the essay.Any ways he's a great professor take him and you won't regret it.Go LAKERS!
The best professor out there!! He is interesting and always helpful. If you want to grow as a writer, he's the guy to take. Read the material, do the work and you'll do fine.
He has been my favorite teacher so far at OCC... Lectures were fun becasue we always got off topic but it kept the long friday class interesting... he is hard at first but dont worry youll get the grade you want as long as you have him help you, make sure he knows your trying and youll be fine.. really good teacher and person!
English is my second language and I've only been in America for two years.I took him for English 100 and 101 and got A in both classes. There's no in class essay. It's very important to do all your homework. It's also good to see him before turning in the essays, for he wants us to write a certain way. He is easy going and I learned a lot.
There is no in class essay, but be sure to let him look at your essay before you turn it in. Also, do ALL the homeworks, which are easy. More so,the length of the essay is short;it's around 3~5 pages. Research essay is optional. He's really helpful and an awesome English professor.
Class is interesting, he is late sometimes and but not to bad. Essay topics are interesting and thats about all you do. Some poems but nothing to extreme. Eng 101
Very good teacher, very helpful. He cancels class a lot, but he makes up for it. If you just put in effort, youll get an A and learn a thing or two.
Great teacher. Had him for both 100 and 101. I learned a lot in his class, and as long as you pay attention and do pretty decent on your essays you'll end up with a B in the class.
Great teacher. Had him for both 100 and 101. I learned a lot in his class, and as long as you pay attention and do pretty decent on your essays you'll end up with a B in the class.
He cancels class a lot and you end up doing less essays then he says at the beginning of the year. If you put some effort in you should be able to get a B no problem. You just write a few short essays and have some easy quizzes on the reading.
Very precise in what he is teaching and explaining literature. Keeping doing your homework, which is very easy, you'll guaranty for an A. lol. Great English teacher!!
Entertaining yet informative... He is easily understood and has understandable, moderate expectations. Don't miss homeworks and don't miss reading quizzes. If you fail to do so, your grade may not be what you want. Brush up on your sports...LAKERS
Kennedy's the best English teacher I've had. I actually learned something about writing, literature, and other stuff, too. Funny, helpful, flexible. Homework counts big time. Do it.
Great teacher. Laid back, funny. See him with your essays. Do all the homework. It's easy to get a B. Don't miss class because he does "in class homework". Great class.
Kennedy is a pretty kick back professor. This semester he was 98.99% of the time late to class:0 but on the other hand just focus on essays which are based on the short stories read and analyzed in class and quizzes (that are soooo easy to pass) and you'll get the grade that you earned:)
Really Cool teacher! I came in thinking it was a hard class, did not like eng at all. Just follow his guidelines for writing an essay and attend class for his EASY quizzes (which count for 1/3 of ur grade). You do 4 or 5 essays 1 is dropped and you can redo 1 if you complete the easy journal entries. Always came late and left class early a lot LOL
He is a great teacher. He's engaging sometimes random but the topics aren't boring. Very funny. I actually liked coming to class. It's not hard to get a good grade and he gives you many chances! He is extremely helpful with your essay, reads and correct them before they're due. If you try, there's no excuses you can't make at least a B!
Hard grader. Too many in-class essays and he grade down for grammar and ESL mistakes, but he's friendly and sometime his class is fun.
Very hard teacher. Too hard on grammar on in-class essays. And he has too many in-class writing.
He grades essays a little hard, which is surprising since he has a carefree style of teaching. Isn't set with due dates and tends to forget things, but keeps class interesting by going off tangents and having a good laugh. Take all the quizzes to boost your essay scores. He allows revisions and can drop your worst essay at the end of the semester.
Can't drop in-class essay grades. very unfair. Got a D because in-class score was low. He acts nice but he grades too much grammar
This instructor is messed up. I got a D in the class. Even though he is a great guy who makes you laugh and lectures the short essays well. But he grades you really hard on the essays especially the content and grammar. Half of the class was struggling in his class because there is a specific way he wants you to write the essays.
He is very specific in a non-specific way when it comes to the essays and they are difficult, however, he is very helpful and will work with you on a one-on-one basis. He drops your lowest score, gives you one re-write and will bump you up a grade if you get a perfect score on quizzes and do your journal entry providing you have a C or better and a
Great teacher. Pretty taugh on grading, but it's very clear what he wants from you. He will make you work hard for your A, but it's worth it plus he's funny. Always late, lets the class out little early. I enjoyed both 100&101.
I thought I knew how to write until I reached his class. Very specific on what he wants so you have to adapt. If you are stubborn and dont want to change your writing style to a style that will benefit you in the long run, then take another class. Although grading is tough, I have learned so much. Don't let your pride get in the way...
Prof. Kennedy is very funny. His teaching style is a bit vague, but he is very specific in what he wants. I ended up liking his class and I got a good grade. This class is not for slackers though!**Big suggestion-- HAVE HIM READ YOUR ROUGH DRAFTS! P.s. He loves basketball!
even though he knows what he is talking about, he is not very good at explaining what he wants. he's a bit unorganized but is always willing to help.
he grades so hard, don't take this class if you are ESL students.
I am an international student, but I got an A. His grading is not that hard. I highly recommend doing all hw so that you can push up your grade.
The first day there were like 40 people in the class at the end there were like 15. He doesnt explain essays very well and hes a hard grader. but he is a funny guy. he says the essay will be due but then he will let us take it home and fix stuff. if you do the hmwk and speak up in class youll do fine.
Hes a nice guy. its a fun class. hes not to tough. just do your essay and do good. hes a really hard grader
Doesn't have time for his students. HARD GRADER! Don't take him if hate writing.( I learned NADA in his class!!!)
he is a good teacher but he grades WAY TOO HARD!
he is super lazy, laid back. i didnt learn anything from him. everything was not clear. likes to fail people. start with 40 people n end up with 8 left. i tried to talk to him many time before i hand in my work, he said "i cant read it coz you should know how to do it." What are u talking about????
I had this class on a Friday. It was a very long class. It was so long we had 3 breaks. I enjoyed it very much. Prof Kennedy is a smart guy and actually quite funny. You must do all the reading assignments and show up for class to pass this class. You also must write 4 essays and keep all your homework in a folder. A journal is required too.
A chill pretty chill professor and made friday classes not so bad. However, you must put in time and effort into your essays, as he grades those with great scrutiny. I spent about an average of 8 hours per essay (typing up the essay and revising it).
Excellent professor!
Great teacher all around! Always available during office hours and drops your lowest essay, great professor!
Very hard grader on essays, but an excellent instructor who knows literature and how to teach writing. Fun class.
Took a LONG, 4-hour Friday class but it was surprisingly fun. The essays are hard and he grades them very close. but some of the stories are interesting. Overall a good class.
If you are looking for a teacher who really cares about your learning experience, go with Kennedy. This guy spent a lot of his free time working with me so that I could live my personal life and get the A I needed. The class is not easy, but he gives you all of the opportunities you need to do well.
America is already one of the lowest ranked countries regarding education. All these spoiled brats expecting everything in life to be handed to them will get a reality check in this class. Stop complaining about the workload or the tough grading. You finally found a teacher that challenges you to be better; no way! Stop being lazy and put in work.
One of the best English professors I've ever had. He's exactly what you want in an English teacher: goes over grammar, doesn't do mickey mouse BS presentations, tells you precisely what should be in essays (he even gave you the theses during lecture). Write notes on EVERYTHING he says in lecture, read the stories for quizzes, and you're golden.
only wants essays done a specific way. lots of busy work. gets side tracked easy. he is very liberal polictical and doesnt shutup about it. hes a cool guy i just dont like his teaching, hated his essays
Kennedy is not the easiest teacher but he tries to help you as much as he can. He let us rewrite 1 of an essay if we had good homework and quiz grades. He is unorganized but I love him. I felt really comfortable with him. I thought I failed the class but as long as you put in effort you can pass it with a C. Also we had 3-4 essays.
I loathed English classes until Kennedy. He's extremely clear about what he wants in an essay.Almost all essays were opinion meaning it was easier to write, and I finally had meaningful lessons on grammar. I can't wait to take next semester with him. Not mandatory attendance but with the homework and in-class assignments you can't really miss.
idk why some people say he is a hard professor. i was really scared to take this class because of the reviews, but i ended up with an A. if you show up to every class, take down good notes (basically everything he says) and do ALL of the homework and readings, you will at least get a B! he tells you how he wants every essay and gives you choices
Excellent teacher. In-class essays, a few films, good stories, a few laughs. Read everything assigned and pass the quizzes. Attend every class for the in-class assignments. He's a hard grader but he'll help you.
I learned a lot in this class, more than any other English class that I've had. My essay writing is much improved.
Excellent instructor. Fun class. A lot of reading and in-class writing, so be ready. Quizzes and homework count for an essay grade, so do it all. I learned alot.
Too much writing, especially in-class work, but you get a choice of topics and he also teaches writing style and grammar. Good instructor.
Had a 4-hour Friday class and it was actually fun! Read two short novels and a bunch of short stories. 4 essays. Reading quizzes. Films. Kennedy is cool. Good teacher.
Great Prof.!
there is about 4 to 5 in class writing then he checks it off and gives it back so u could revise a final draft. Homework is not that much maybe 40 assignment total but don't take much time, a lot of strong lines. He also teaches style lessons. as far as grading he is pretty hard, but if you could write proper grammar and answer prompt ur good.
We wrote six essays and had some choices on the topics. He goes over the structure in class so you can make the right choice. Hard grader but if you ace the homework you can redo an essay for a better grade. I learned a lot in this class.
Kennedy is a cool teacher and the stories are interesting. I liked the Akutagawa stories the best but the film was slowwww. We read two short novels by Heminway and Dickens and a bunch of stories and we had our choice of topics on the stories and wrote 4 essays and had about 10 quizzes and 20 homework assignments.
Awesome Professor. Really helpful on how to write the essays. i really learned a lot from him. He is a nice guy too. As long as you go to most of the classes and do the homework and put effort into the essays you will get an A.
Kennedy is cool and keeps class interesting. We read two short books and a ton of short stories and a few poems. Saw a few films. We had 4 essays with choices on the topics. He outlined the structure in class. Quizzes on the reading every week. Not too hard but you can''t slack either.
Kennedy is a good teacher. He's a bit unorganized, we changed the syllabus a lot but he's fair and funny and I learned a lot. It's not an easy class but if you read the stories and prepare for thein-class essays you'll be fine.
Although I liked him as a person, his teaching style was nothing short of horrendous. I've written papers that get As my whole life (even at UC Davis), and he gave me a C on my first one. He does offer rewrites - if you sit down and copy what he says verbatim, you'll do well. Quizzes based on reading (and attendance) that highly affect your grade.
He is so great. I got an A in both Eng 100 and eng101. He is a tough grader but if you know what he expects in the essay, you will get an A. Be aware of the quizzes. He is the best English professor in OCC.
Hes really amazing! He gives super helpful writing technique, teaches you how to write a good paper, and he wants you to be success. He allows 1 revision paper but you can write your in class essays and bring home to improve them. I truly learnt a lot from him. Highly recommend this professor.
He's a tough grader, but it's only because he wants you to do well. I think he's a very well-respected instructor and I always looked forward to his classes and his occasional off-topic stories. Assigns hw and offers one essay re-write.
The only comment I want to leave is that he does not use blackboard so you will not have a running total of your grade. If you are the type of person that needs to know how you are doing as the semester progresses you might want to consider another instructor.
I loved his lectures and always looked forward to his class. He is a funny guy. He is a tough grader, but he is also fair. Work hard and show him that you care about his class. Don't slack off.
Hes very tough on grading your skills to be a critical thinker. In English 101 you have to read in between the line re read a lot. There's 4 essays in this class but a lot of reading and you need to know basic grammar skills.
Very involved teacher. Can be critical and harsh, but fair and on point. Class was hard work, but not over the top, and clearly laid out. Would recommend Mr. Kennedy to anyone.
Great professor! He cares about his students and is a HUGE help to those that ask for help. He allows you to revise a few essays which is great. Make sure you do all your homework if you want an A.
English essaywriting was never my strong subject, but he gave lots of quizzes and homework to pull up our overall grades. Just read the assigned stories and avoid missing class (again, quizzes every week). Class was fun, and we could stay after class for more comments.
He's a really friendly professor. However, he is a tough grader on essays. You need to be precise and answer the prompt exactly to score well. I managed to pass his class with a B because I attended all his classes for the in class assignments, completed all journal entries, and attempted all given essays. He does not post grades on BB.
Prof. Kennedy is unorganized, unclear, and rambles. He does not encourage individual thinking; he would prefer that you just regurgitate what he wants you to know. He's available and helpful if you ask, but if you are looking for a challenge and interesting course, this is not the one for you.
Kennedy is a hard grader, but a good teacher. Attend every class and do the reading because he gives quizzes on everything! Fun class with lots of discussion and a few films. A lot of time is spent on writing style. I learned a lot and enjoyed going to his class.
Great professor, funny and straightforward. He tells you specifically what he wants you to talk about in your essays. Weekly quizzes are very straightforward. Can be a tough grader if you don't have a solid foundation from the topics covered in English 100.
Best teacher I have ever had. Actually teaches you how to write. Its been a few years since I had him, and I am passing all my english classes at a university because of what he taught me. Not the easiest grader but is willing to go over your writing, and explain were your essays lack. Take him for as many english classes as you can.
really good teacher but tough grader pay close attention to the quote examples he gives about the reading it'll help you out a lot for your papers.
I don't think he uses his class time wisely. When he's not sidetracked on basketball or inappropriate jokes/conversation, he's telling you exactly what you're supposed to say in the essays so that you're regurgitating his ideas, not coming up with your own. He's friendly and willing to help, but very disorganized. I say take someone else.
Actually a fun class. Steady homework but not too heavy. Tough grader but gives clear directions.
Kennedy was perhaps my favorite English teacher. He's truly 5/5 because his coursework isn't hard, but it also teaches you things. His essays are graded slightly harsh, however, if you do well on the quizzes, you can choose to rewrite an essay. I can only say that the class would be difficult for English learners.
I loved this class. If you follow whatever he says and have him check your essay you will get an A.
I took him for ENGL100 and 101. He is caring professor and though he sometimes goes off topic, his lectures are always interesting and sometimes hilarious. He definitely helped me improve my writing and you don't have to be great at it to do well, he'll help you get better. I would 100% recommend his class. There should be more profs like him.
He just was boring, hard & ridiculous amounts of hw! Hes a nice guy but he takes his job way to serious! Its almost as if he makes it hard to see students drop or fail. Seems like you can do it but the course only gets harder and harder as time goes on....
Took him in the summer and he really challenged me to improve as a write and showed me how to. Great Prof. I recommend him to everyone.
Professor Kennedy makes you work. You learn a lot in his class, but if you work hard and stay focused you can get an A. He lets you rewrite an essay at the end of the semester which can really help your grade! I may be one of few, but i loved his sense of humor as well!
I would definitely suggest this class. Awesome teacher! Great class!
You have to pay attention to his rules. He seems to be strict. However, If you did all the homework he requires, you will get extra credits and chances to revise your essays. He also gives you thorough feedbacks on your essays. He's a great professor.
He is one of the best professors at OCC. He truly cares about students and I recommend that you take his class if you have the chance.
Tough essay grader, but learned a lot & am now a better writer. Lectures can be off topic, but funny. I was intimidated by the 4 in class essays - but we typed & improved later. Research paper was stressful. He's sincere. Can be temperamental, but also kind - that's a creative personality for you. Do all homework and no talking during his lecture.
There is a good amount of reading each week but is reasonable. He grades slightly difficult for essays but will help you improve your writing. I don't consider myself a good writer, and my writing has definitely improved. He tries his best to give you the best grade that you can get if you show him that you tried your best in his class.
I'm so glad I took Prof. Kennedys class. I usually don't like English, but I actually enjoyed this one. He's a tough grader but will sit down and help you with your essay. He goes off topic sometimes, but keeps it interesting. We read short stories and poems and wrote four essays. If you get a chance, take his class.
Great guy overall and very fair. He's very lenient on homework due dates and stamps whatever assignment you missed on the last day. Only 3 essays in the class and he let us revise all 3 of them even though he said it would only be 1. You can get an A easily if you listen to his feedback, do the homework and show up to class. He made english fun.
Must take for English 101! He is a tuff grader but he lets you revise one essay if you get an A on your journals and homework. He lets you do what he calls tweaks. You definitely have to work for that A.
Epitome of tough love. Great guy and very understanding, but keep in mind that this is not a creative writing class. It's critical writing. He has expectations with each assignment he gives, and sometimes he lays it out for you, try to take his advice and understand the critical view.
Prof. Kennedy is great. He is very passionate, assigns interesting readings and leads good discussions. I wish he would at least post his syllabus online, but assignments and due dates are clear and overall it's a great class.
This professor definitely made you work for the A. There is three papers. He is very specific with how he likes his essays written. He lets you tweak the essays and does his best to help you if you put in the effort. He may come off a bit intimidating at first but hes a funny guy! Definitely take him if you can. Just make sure you read!
Kennedy is a great teacher in my opinion. I definitely enjoy the way he teaches. English is my weakest subject but he is straight to the point and makes class interesting and enjoyable. Even at 8 AM in the morning.
This class was one of my favorite at OCC. He is a great person and a great professor. There are quizzes on the first class of the week and three essays total. He is picky about how the essays are written but he allows you to revise them. I can tell he really wants to help his students and if you try in the class he will do his best to get you an A.
Mr. Kennedy is a really good teacher. His grading criteria is super clear which is nice because as long as you follow what he wants you'll do well. But that also means when it comes to writing essays, he can kinda be a tough grader. Overall he really encourages his students to be better writers so I recommend taking his class.
Greatest professor and person Ive ever met!
Hes a really nice and Funny person, but this was the hardest engl class Ive ever taken. his essays are greenbook Essays. I enjoyed reading a lot of the short stories he gave us. the quizzes are basically free points. But your grade really just depends on how well you do on the essays, if youre not a strong writer dont take him
Prof Kennedy is very clear in his expectations and requirements. He has a good attitude and always makes the subject interesting. Take him.
He's a great professor, however his essays are more like summaries. He only lets you revise the essays if you have a B or higher. He also goes on tangents a lot and if you cannot handle sarcasm, don't take him.
Professor Kennedy really defines tough love. He makes you work hard but also makes it so that if you really try (no matter how bad you are at writing) you can succeed. He's funny and sarcastic but its easy to see that he cares about his students. Take him if you are willing to learn and put in the work.
Had him for English 100 & 101. Very specific w/ directions for essays. Gives really good feedback on your essays and makes lots of room for improvement. He will let you fix an essay at the end w/ good homework scores. 101 was a tougher class lots of reading and prepare for Lit. quizzes. PLEASE TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN. YOU WONT REGRET THE OPPORTUNITY!
he had good rating but it wasnt true at all the most stress is that he doesn't use canvas at all so you don't know what grade you have in class until final is over then you can check grade online. sometimes there is quiz but you dont know when so just be aware thanks to this professor I would have to take class again but will with other teacher ugh
Professor Kennedy is a great teacher overall. You can tell that he loves teaching and he keeps the class interesting. Everything you do counts with quizzes every week. He gives plenty of chances to improve your grade. One of the best teachers at OCC!
Kennedy is a very good teacher and really cares about us improving our writing skills. Gives good feedback and the syllabus spells out everything. Super opinionated on politics.
VERY TOUGH GRADER (and dings you for super nit-picky things), but gives you an opportunity to rewrite an essay if you've got good homework/quiz grades. DO YOUR READING ON TIME! He doesn't tell you about what assignments are coming up, so if you aren't paying attention to your syllabus, you'll walk right into a reading quiz without realizing it!
I've always hated English, but I like this class because Prof. Kennedy makes it interesting and easy to understand. Workload is doable, too.
After the shutdown, this is the class I missed the most. He is a fine teacher -- very entertaining. The class / course material is somewhat easy, but Prof. Kennedy made it engaging and fun.
He is a great teacher for English 101. I have tried to take English 101 twice before, and the teachers expect you to know how to already analyze a work of fiction. If something is unclear, Kennedy walks you through the steps and explains how to do it. Quality time spent in class. I don't know how his online teaching is, but in-class is awesome!
Prof. Kennedy is definitely one of the best. If you truly want to master English, he breaks it down and helps you improve your writing. In grammar, punctuation, and many other aspects. He taught me writing skills I didn't even know existed prior. A ton of homework, but worth it completely. If I get the chance, I'd love to take him again.
I would say he's the best professor, but that's just me. He helped us to understand that material, comprehend requirements, and how to write more proficiently. He inspired me to continue in school and eventually transfer to a great university with stellar grades. I wholeheartedly recommend his class if you want to learn and be a better writer.
