Awsome class!!!! Very knowledgeable... Teaches in a format like any other... Will definately take him FOR all SCIENCES and A&P II... Thanks DOC... Loves BLUEBERRY MUFFINS!!! frowns on tardiness....great great teacher, higly recommend over adams...
He is one of the best people that i have been fortunate to meet, and the BEST biology teacher ever.
Dr.McArthur is an excellent teacher. He really can teach. I enjoy being in his classes. He will not make you fall asleep. His lectures are awesome. He actually wants you to learn in his class. I had him for A&P I and now II. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM :-)
He is a fantastic teacher. I didn't have to take his class and almost dropped it, but I'm glad I didn't. I didn't say he was really easy because his class does take work. It's not an easy A, but it is a class worth the effort. He is always helpful!
Very helpful...but the class is SOOOOOO difficult. His tests are extremely difficult...do not ask what you know...but how you can apply it. It is just,,,,,,,very time consuming...you'll pull your hair out studying for tests.....but the man is good teach
Took the class just for fun, loved it.. taking the next level because the teacher is awesome
I had him for both A&P I & II. He's a great and awesome teacher. You really have to pay attention in class and take extremely good notes because the tests are really hard. But he's great. I recommend him fully.
He's a great teacher. But the class is very hard.
This class was sooo awesome. It was very difficult but if you study you can easily make an A or B in there. I would take him for every class if i could...he makes the material interesting and gives application to the real world. A class i actually looked forward to.
He is a very nice person, but his course was very difficult. It was not clear what would be on the tests and what wouldn't. He knows his information very well, but goes too fast. The tests are in essay form and very difficult, even if you study a lot!
Came into biology class worried because of AP bio in high school. Instead I came out with a plethora of knowledge that I actually use on a day to day basis. A lot of people said his class was hard but I ended up with a 99 semester average with ease. Good guy, just sit up front and pay close attention to his lectures.
Dr. McArthur is an amazing teacher and although the material is not that easy to understand at first, he will break it down for you. I always hated Science because of my failure in it, BUT with Dr. McArthur you will get a better understanding of why Biology is important to humans and in life, which will make you enjoy it a lot more.
wonderful teacher!! but a hard class!! I would recommend him to anyone!!
very good teacher would recommend him to anyone
Wonderful teacher if you are a good student. If you are not you will have a difficult time. He really knows the material and applies it to everday life.
This class is a challenege, but its well worth it. Hes a great teacher and outlines his notes. He'll try to scare you off, but his lectures are very intersting and he even gives you a study guide for the tests...best teacher for this class
At first, I thought he was a chauvenist pig but in the end he turned out to be the best teacher I have ever had. Although he is off the wall on some of his test questions, if you answer like you learned in his class you will do very well. He is very compassionate, although he may not seem like it. When you talk to him, you realize he is a great man
Dr. McArthur is the best instructor at OW. He knows it all about Anatomy and Physiology. His tests are hard, but if you study, you'll do well. His tests are directly from lecture so, take good notes. I learned so much from him. I wish I needed more classes he teaches. Good Hearted Man.
McArthur is a great teacher. Try to sit in the front! You do have to study for his tests but he is very willing to give full points on test questions if you express knowlege of the subject matter. Don't take the class is you don't want to learn, you will be doing everyone a disservice. A+ instructor
he is wonderful, but you must study.
Awesome!
Great teacher! He is very funny and often gets on his tangents about past experiences. Very intelligent!! He knows alot of alot of things. Hes very interesting to listen to as well. The tests are hard. But take good notes (of which he writes on the board) and study those and you will be fine. Take this teacher!!!
This class was terrible!! He gives way too any tests and the tests are extremely hard. If you don't like to spend your entire semester doing nothing but studying do not take this professor. I dropped this class because he was so bad!!!
I think his class what hard, but if you study you can get a good grade. If you don't want to study there is no point in taking his class.
BEST TEACHER EVER! This man in a GENIUS & truly prepares you for the any future in the medical field. Tough subject matter (and a lot of it), but he gives you every oppurtunity to succeed. He truly WANTS students to understand. I would take him for EVERY class if i could! WONDERFUL! LIFE-CHANGING!
One of the best teachers ever. You will have to study a lot for his tests, but his teaching style is such, that you're really just reviewing your notes and memorizing the sketchy parts. This is one of thoes challenging professors you are happy you took once you get into the real world. Im surprised at just how much i've learned in this class
This teacher is awesome! I took A&P I&II back to back and requested him! He does give hard test but that is just to make you really know your stuff. The RN program isn't easy and he tries to help you by pushing you you do your best. By the end of class you will know about"the thing and the deal"! Enjoy!
Dr. McArthur is very knows what he is talking. I took A&P 1 & 2 this past semester, and even though it was very difficult he was very helpful. He explains things in simple terms and he is very encoraging, but is also very difficult and does not like slackers. His tests are difficult, but you will come out of the class retaining a lot of stuff.
Good use of everyday examples to tie in the material
I loved my biology class with McArthur. He is extremely well versed in the material and very efficient and communicating it while giving valid real world examples and implications of what would otherwise be very vague concepts. The tests aren't easy, but he's a very fair grader and specifies exactly what will be on the test before hand.
Good information, focused on all human biology which made the class more bearable. Very knowledgable. He didn't use the book at all, no homework, no papers, but you got to study and take good notes to pass the class. Tests are mult choice and essay. The essays can be tough. Great lecturer. I was never bored during his class which is all lecture.

Dr McArthur is great. He really cares about his students. Take good notes, sit near the front and study thoses notes. I will take him again for A&P 2.
Dr. McARthur is the best teacher ever! Yes...he's hard, but you really come out of his classes KNOWING the material. Great for pre-med. Loves the banana bread, make lots if you want a study guide. It really works!
I just finished A&P 2. He has a great command of A&P and he will get you ready for the health sciences. Dr. McArthur is a great instructor and always takes the time to explaian the material. This is a difficult subject but he will work with you as you go along. Attendance is important and take good notes.
Great Instructor, really knows his stuff and will work with you if you have any questions or have trouble making it to class. Take good notes and pay attention to his stories in lecture and you will do good.

Dr. McArthur's knowledge of the material is exceptional, and he is still excited by it which makes his lectures fun and interesting. He does not follow the text book except for visual aids, but his tests come directly from the Lectures. DO NOT miss class! He sounds strict at first, but stick with it and you'll leave with first rate knowledge.
Excellent teacher. He will help you succeed in your field of choice. Nursing students he is a must. The class is difficult, and requires you to study, but if you listen to the lectures and give some effort you will come away from this class with a strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology. He is easy going and will help you. Just ask.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE...HE DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS AND DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP FOR THE MIDTERM! AVG GRADE ON HIS MIDTERM AND FINAL IS A 50... NO STUDY GUIDE... YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!!
He is the best anatomy teacher. I took him for both anat and phys 1 and 2 and got an A+ in both of them. always gives study guides. great lectures. you will get an A if you go to class take notes and study them. we barely ever used the book and we only used it for the pictures. I would reccomend him to anyone!!! great teacher
I didn't take McArthur in class (only online) so I feel I can't give a good review. But I suggest taking Ritter online instead. If you do take McArthur online - do the workbook for extra credit(study guide for midterm/final), five page report for extra credit, and talk to him during office hours. I made an 'A' in his class doing it this way.
he's an AMAZING teacher...he knows everything there is to know and I love his stories that correlate to the lectures. if you STUDY, you will do wonderfully...labs are a grade saver. i suggest study partners and taking his class!! plus, he's a supa babe!
Took him for A/P 1 and LOVED him.. ONce you get past his first test you'll do great IF you study and pay attn to his lectures. I am not sure if attendance was mandatory but it helps. labs won't ruin your grade but study! .. tests are a lot of essay and critical thinking-- HE IS THE BEST without a doubt.. nursing students-- TAKE HIM you won't regret
I took Anatomy 1 & 2 with him and got an A in both classes. He is a great teacher. The tests are pretty much all essay questions with a few multiple choice questions. These tests are difficult, but if you study hard you'll be ok. He gives a study guide for the tests which helped me a lot. He also curves the test grades!!
love love LOVE his way of teaching and his class...he is a VERY intelligent man and he portrays things clearly... i would take this class again and again...he is a SEXY beast!!!!
He is a great teacher. He knows the information off the top of his head. He presents it in a way that is understandable and interesting. His tests are very long and seem difficult - but that's because the information is relevant. If you study in his class you will get a good grade, simple as that. Awesome and hot prof.
Dr. McArthur is the best!! He has a Ph. D. in physiology and is so passionate about what he teaches. You will learn so much. If you are just trying to get through an easy class don?t take him. If you truly want to learn and retain the information for your career or graduate school, take Dr. McArthur. I never looked at the clock to see when cla
Very nice guy who knows his anatomy/physiology. You earn your grade and are expected to know alot. The class can be done with an A or B with good study skills. You will appreciate what you learn if you are going into the health field. I know I will be able to go back to him with any questions I may ever have. More professors should teach like him!
If you don't like Dr McArthur, or Pat as he so modestly calls himself "I NOT CARE" he is the most intuitive, fun(ny) and knowledgable teacher I've had in my life, and I'm lucky to have somehow landed in his class. And "just for your dining pleasure and amusement" he seems to have the favor of all the girls in the class. I think he's just cool!
I love Dr. McArthur. He's amazing at what he does. I rated his class hard because it requires a lot from you. If you aren't willing to put in a lot of effort, DON'T TAKE HIM! High intensity!! :D He writes all notes and gives study guides (the babying we love!) I got an A! AND I actually understand the material all because of him! :] Good luck!
Awesome teacher!!!
Dr. McArthur rocks! He made things understandable that I had been told were impossible! His class is hard, but if you put in the effort you cannot fail! I intend on taking every class he teaches!
One of the most amazing teachers ive ever had, id wish i had taken him for A&P1, i learned so much in his class, time flew by every class. Highly recommend him for your teacher! :)
Great with helping you understand material. Makes it fun. Take notes and draw the pictures he does!
Dr. McArthur is on the greatest if not the greatest teacher i've ever had. His class is not easy, but he articulates this course about as clear as air. He is fantastic and extremely helpful.
He is amazing. I have not seen him look at 1 note or 1 book. He has such a strong passion for what he does and it shows in his classroom.
This class is not easy. I would recommend taking him for both A&P I and II. His style of teaching takes a little getting use to. This class is not about memorization it's about application. I learned alot from this class but it was hard work.
Doc Mac is simply the one professor who makes you want to come to class, eager to hear what he has to say, and down when you realize the class is coming to an end (regardless of how hard the subject matter). Definitely take him.
Dr. McArthur is absolutely, without a doubt the best A&P teacher ever!! He is funny and makes the class enjoyable. His tests are fine as long as you study the material(he gives you a good study guide). "He not care" if you are "sick" and need to come in another class day to take the test either. Scale 1-10, he is a 10!!!! TAKE HIM!
Awesome! Funny! Lenient! He isnt big on "grades" he just wants you to learn the material. Sure its hard and their is a lot to study but you will learn it and not just memorize for the test.Dont miss a class because there are lots of important notes.I cant not stress this enough.GET WITH A STUDY GROUP!I have an a in the class so far and im not smart
Hard, but rewarding. Must invest time in studying. Show up, can't see how anyone can afford to miss a class. He is the best. Taking him again next semester for A&P2. You will learn and he teaching in a way that is confusing at first but it all comes together eventually and just click. Highly recommended.
Dr.M will make you learn things you wouldn't have thought you were capable of learning. Amazing ability to articulate scientific terms into understandable english. Alot of hardwork & HOURS of studying but actually enjoyable. He has his own way of teaching that takes some getting used to but it's good. He wants you to succeed & enjoys teaching.
Dr. Mac is by far the best professor out there. I had him for A&P I in spring 2010 and for A&P II fall 2010. You take lots of notes but they are all important. His test our intense but if YOU study, you shouldn't have a problem. I recommend a study group, it really helped me out. He inspired me to go for my nursing degree. A+ in my book.
Amazing Teacher.
Truly inspirational. Took him for A&P-I and am now in his A&P-II, let me just say that if you have the opportunity to take any class he teaches JUMP on it because if you don't you are selling yourself (& your education) short. He has a gift for what he does and I'm so glad I didn't chicken out of his class in the beginning.
AMAZING TEACHER! If you are going into the medical field and need to take Anatomy and Physiology, take him! He is amazing and knows what he is talking about. If you go to class, and pay attention and write down his notes, then it is a pretty easy class.
Awesome professor. Knows everything about anatomy, physiology, biology, and I think he's knowledgeable in chemistry too. He is an excellent lecturer but you have to take a lot of notes. He is good at explaining so you can understand it all. He is available outside of class to answer questions. Tough class, but what A&P class isn't? Overall excellent professor. You still have to work for your grade though. He is very fair.
In his class now and am really enjoying his teaching style. Like others have said - he is wicked smart and really knows his stuff. Also agree - lots of notes and you definitely have to study. And he really does frown upon tardiness. And he's got a sexiness that makes it worth not missing a class :)
McArthur is known as the best A&P instructor at NWFSC. He is very knowledgeable and creative in his teaching methods. He gives you straight forward notes, if its not in the notes then its not on the test.If you are willing to put forth the work with an amazing instructor than he's the one. If you are looking for an easy A, try another professor. :)
I'm currently taking A&P I with Dr. McArthur and he has lived up to his reputation as a great teacher (Two different people insisted I take him when I told them I needed an A/P class). He gives excellent notes and prepares you adequately for the tests. I will be taking him for A&P II this fall as well.
If you can attend every class, take notes, and study, you will not only do well is his class, you will end up with a rock solid foundation for the health care industry. Lectures and notes are clear, organized, and flow perfect. Tests are 90% essay and patient diagnosis. If you actually want to learn the material this is the perfect class for you!
Best professor ever! Excellent teaching skills, excellent lecturer, organized notes. Test are tough, mostly essay, but you will learn and remember so much if you can make it to class, take notes, and study. If you are looking for an easy class, seek elsewhere. If you WANT TO LEARN about the human body, take Dr. McArthur's class.
Be ready to work and take lots of notes and study, study, study! You will definitely come away with a tremendous amount of knowledge, but don't go into this class if you want an easy A! I got an A but worked my booty off for it! Cool dude though and love his teaching style.
Dr. MacArthur is the best science teacher I have ever had. He has an excellent teaching style and uses great real world examples. I tried to take BSC1086 with someone else and wound up switching just to get back into his class. If you want to learn something take him. If you want an easy A this is not for you. Lots of studying but I made an A+!
Dr.McArthur is hands down the BEST teacher I have had, ever! He is extremely knowlegable about this subject and likes to give tons of real world examples that help you understand material. You will come out of this class with TONS of knowledge but be warned there is lots of studying involved. It is not an easy A. Taking him again for A&P 2!!!
I really don't see how anyone could dislike this teacher. Dr. Mac is the best! I took him for both AP1 & AP2 and made A+ in both classes. I felt sorry for other students who had taken alternate professors for the same courses when they described the teaching methods and tests -- Register early so you can take him, you won't regret it!
I have never learned so much in my life from a class@
Best teacher ever! Wow is he a good teacher. Yes you have to pay attention but you learn so much! I got an A :)
Took Dr. Mac for A&PI and II. Loved him! There was a lot of studying involved, but I learned so much! I feel like I'm ready to tackle nursing school in the fall because of him!
TOOK HIM FOR A&P 1&2 HE IS THE BEST TEACHER TO TAKE. IF YOU WANT A GREAT FOUNDATION FOR YOUR CAREER PATH TAKE HIM! YOU DO NEED TO STUDY BUT ITS NOT HARD IF YOU UNDERSTAND IT.
Awesome teacher. Knows what he's talking about and really wants to help his students. You REALLY have to study in his classes and make a major effort, because it is hard, but SO worth it. He explains everything very well and uses a lot of pictures (he's great for visual learners). Take him if you're a science major. Totally worth it.
Best teacher I've ever had! can't wait to take a&p II neat semester. Look forward to every class. Great teacher who wants his students to succeed.
I had Dr. Mac for A&P I and II. He is an AMAZING professor. He knows in detail everything there is to know about A&P. To pass his class you HAVE to study and understand everything. If you dont there is no way you will pass. He is hillarious too so it isnt a boring class at all. Dont take this class if you want an easy A.
Studying is a MUST. There is no "getting by" in this class. The notes and Anatomy 'Work Book' are super helpful. Only quizzes/exams/lecture. I used the older edition of the book & he had no problem with that. Even helped us who used the old book to navigate to the correct page number.
Dr. Mac is by far the best teacher that I have had. I had him for A&P 1 and 2. He tells the funniest stories and makes the material easily understandable. Attending class and studying is a must. He only uses the book for pictures so it is not even worth purchasing. All the tests are based entirely on the lecture notes.
Very good teacher, he knows his stuff. His class involves lots of work though, it's not easy. However, I enjoyed his class and his stories. He loves it when you bring him food also. If you want to get on his good side, tel him how much the Red Sox is the best baseball team ever... Highly recommend!
This class is NOT EASY at all but he is a great guy who knows a ton of information. It requires a lot of studying and I mean A LOT but if I can have get an A while being a single mother who takes 15 credit hrs, AND works full time, then anyone who applies themselves can too.
Great teacher, extremely smart. Attending class and taking notes is mandatory to pass his class. Requires lots of studying. Hard, but worth it.
Dr. Mac is the best science teacher I've ever had. Very smart guy with funny stories and a good sense of humor. Requires a lot of studying and attendance is a must, but his tests are straight from the notes. Write everything he writes and the tests will be easy. Overall, great class, wish I could have him for the rest of my sciences.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken but with that said he is an amazing teacher! Show up EVERY day, study study study and you will pass. The man knows his stuff like the back of his hand
Dr. McArthur is an incredible professor! He's my favorite professor on campus.
Great Professor, outlines the lecture in easy to understand notes, allows time for questions and explanation on things that are difficult to understand. Doesn't use a textbook. Outlines Study guides for exams and gives you cues within your notes as to what will be on the test. As long as you come to class and study your notes you'll do great.
Took this class as my first real college class and I have no regrets. Best science class I have ever taken and Dr. Mac actually teaches! I learned so much and the stories he told helped me absorb the information. Not gonna lie, it was tough! Will definitely take A&P II with him!
Professor Mac is the by far the best professor at NWFSC. He makes the class enjoyable and challenging. You will definitely learn & understand the human body. Pay attention in his class and study & it will be well deserve A+. He does give bonus questions on the exams. No txt required! -L
Gives you second chances on tests if he sees you put on effort. ALWAYS TAKE NOTES. You will not cruise through a test without studying for hours. Respectable teacher.
Don't take this class if you expect an easy A. Take this class if you really want to learn! I have made an A in Anatomy and Physiology I and will be finishing up A&P II with an A as well. He's an amazing teacher. I know that the material I have learned in his class will stay with me for a long time!
He's amazing. 1 of the best professors ever. I would take his class 12 more times. Lectures can be long but it is definitely worth it. I wish he could be my professor for every class i have to take. 100% take him.
I never thought I would be able to pass anatomy, it has never been my strongest subject. I loved taking MacArthur. He is really funny and gives lots of good examples and explains very well. Tests are tricky but if you take good notes and study them there is no reason why you shouldn't pass.
I already have one Bachelor's degree from a University and Dr. McArthur is, by FAR, probably THE best professor I've ever had. 3-hour course and he kept it interesting. He is fun and likes to keep things light. His tests are complex and demand you know the information; but when you pass you know you learned something and the tuition was well-spent!
I wouldn't say Dr. Mac is the nicest guy but hes a brilliant teacher. I enjoyed the class so much that I would go home and study my notes for fun! I could listen to him lecture for hours and still want to learn more from him. I put a lot of time and effort into studying but it paid off. Take him for AP 1&2 you will not be disappointed!
Dr McArthur is my favorite teacher!!!!! His classes are what helped me confirm a desire to pursue nursing school. He has a great funny story for everything and always keeps the class interesting. He is the best!!!!!!!!
Dr. McArthur is a great teacher. He is typically a Anatomy and Physiology professor, but I got him for Gen Biology. He taught the class from a A&P point of view, which irritated me slightly, but I'm not majoring in Biology so it was ok. Only had one test, and a one paperpresentation. Take good notes, and study for test, should be easy A
I took Prof. McArthur for A&P I and II! Lot's of work but who would expect any different? I enjoyed his lectures. YOU CAN NOT MISS A LECTURE! if you do, you are likely to fail.
If I could take Dr. McArthur for every one of my classes I would. He expects a lot but is so straightforward on what he wants. This is the hardest class I've ever taken but BY FAR my favorite. He cares about his students and really notices those who work hard. If you're willing to put in the work you will learn so much and its all life applicable!
I had him for gen. biology. He is an awesome teacher and really into what he does. He mainly teaches anatomy which alarmed me at first because I don't do good with that subject but he discusses a lot of that. It really wasn't that bad and actually interesting. Easy class show up, you have an presentation at the end of the semester and one testeasy
I found him to be very arrogant and he did not teach a lot of important things I think I needed for nursing school. He was kind of funny but in a sarcastic way. I do NOT recommend McArthur at all.
I was so glad I took Dr. McArthur for my A&P11. I was hesitating to take him before because they said he was a tough grader and student has to study harder to pass this class. But later I realized I'd rather to take the hardest class and make me study and learned rather than those Easy A and i won't learned anything. I recommend you to take him.
Dr. Mac was great!! His lectures are long, but it's everything that you need to know for tests. He makes class fun and has the best stories. You have to go to class or you wont pass. His tests are hard, essays make up your grade. Overall, I loved his class. I passed with a 100 A. I would definitely recommend and take any class he taught.
I don't understand how someone called him an arrogant? He is a great teacher. He is the one of the most amazing teacher I've ever had in nwfsc. He explains his lecture clearly and in the words where student can able to understand. If you expect an easy A, you don't like to study, well his classes may not good for you.
Dr. McArthur is amazing. He's the BEST teacher for like Anatomy 1 and 2. He gives you what you NEED to know and explains it clearly! If you don't study you will fail. He's pretty understanding with essay questions. As long as you get the concept he will gives points. Highly recommend for nursing majors!
He is GREAT! His class is not easy, so do not expect an easy A. You need to work for it and he will give you all the tools to pass. He loves the subject and he makes sure you really learn them. I took him for AP1 and I am finishing AP2. I finished 1 with an A and I have an A on 2. Take him if you are thinking about any health related major.
Dr. McArthur is an amazing teacher! He does as just lecture based classes so you have to make sure that you are there for class. I had him for nutrition and it was a really fun class. Wish I would've taken him for A&P. He makes that class enjoyable and easy to understand. Tests are harder, but work hard and you'll get a good grade.
One of the best professor I have ever had. Very inspirational.
Words don't describe just how amazing this class is, lab manual is GOLD!!!!!
Seriously the best professor I've had at NWFSC. You do have to work in his classes, so don't expect and easy A. He really cares about the students personally and hard work really does pay off. He is very clear about what material will be on the tests (basically everything he says in lecture).
I had him for wellness. He's very helpful. For the tests, everything is in the notes. Another grade is two workouts every week for 40 minutes on paper and just some exercise questions in the book. Here's this for an example. He gave me a book that taught the successes to college and that really helped my life a lot. Ask him about the book.
Highly recommended professor if you are planning on going into the medical sector. He tailors his lectures towards what is being used in the field and has a passion for what he's teaching. Dr. Mac really cares about his students and is willing to work with you if you're willing to put in the effort.
Great professor, if you're going into the medical field his charts will be highly useful. It is not a walk in the park. You have to study as most of the test are essays.
Dr. Mac is the one professor that you'll remember he is passionate about his job and gave one hundred % when I took both his classes. He tells you upfront that its not an easy class and that you have to work for your grade but with that said he gives outstanding lectures and notes if you study you'll get a good grade.
Difficult class, but WONDERFUL professor. The class is geared towards those who would like to pursue medical school or the nursing program. He is a pretty goofy guy but he is very sweet and really knows his stuff. Would recommend if you are a science lover or up for a challenge.
This was a very difficult but very worth it class. He is very passionate and loves what he does. He doesn't teach you just to pass his tests but also what you need for the next level. He gives you what you need to succeed beyond his class as far as skills for studying and for information for programs/classes after his.
Dr. McArthur was my favorite academic professor BY FAR. You will love the subject by the end of the semester and the long class hours breeze by with his picture explanations and entertaining stories. I'm a business major, but took his anatomy 2 class because he was so awesome!!!
Love his class! I have learned so much and I actually remember it when I need it again rather than continuously having to relearn things. I have taken him for A+P one and two and I am so glad that I did!
Without a doubt, one of the best teachers I've ever had ever. He's devoted to his students and gives you real world applicable material. He designs his class not just to pass the class, but to prepare you to enter the medical field. We do things you won't learn until med or nursing school! He gives personalized advice and lives to watch you grow.
Dr. Mac is awesome. He makes you work for your grade, but everything you learn throughout his lectures and lab quizzes is extremely useful, especially if you are going into the medical field. He is very experienced and knows exactly what he is talking about. Put in the effort and you will pass with flying colors!
My favorite professor. He is brilliant, but never lectures over the students heads. He is very organized and clear about what he requires and what will be on his tests. I strongly recommend him.
Dr. Mac is an amazing professor. You have to really work for your grade, but if you show up for class and put in the effort you will do great. He likes to tell stories to connect the material to real situations. I wish I would have taken him for BSC1085. If you are struggling with the material he will try to help you.
Best teacher I've ever had in my life, took him for anatomy 1 and 2. There is a lot of material but he makes it easy to understand and memorize. Also helps by giving hints at test questions/essay questions so you know exactly what to study. He is so helpful and has real world knowledge and application of the topics.
he's awesome most defiantly would recommend him he's real good at making sure you understand the material he makes class super fun and he's funny which is a plus but if you don't study most likely you'll fail his class. do not miss a day.
I'm in his A&P 1 class now and it requires A LOT of studying but it's easy to pass if you make time for it. His tests are multiple choice, fill in the blank, and heavy on essay questions with multiple parts. But he gives every piece of info in lectures so take good notes. He also puts extra credit on all tests. Perfect class to take for pre-med.
Study hard and come to class and the class is an easy A, but you have to be willing to put in the time.
Prof. McArthur teaches most science classes at NWFSC and claims he is very tough in his other classes. However this is a general biology course so its not that serious of a course. We ended up only having one test, got to dissect hearts, and his class is very organized and he writes everything on the board. It was very easy to follow along!
He genuinely wants all to succeed but if he thinks its too much for you, he will keep it real with you. He however gives you all possible chances to pass the tests and will give you a chance to do it early if you have to be away on the test date. I think hes awesome.
Dr Mac teaches a tough class but he conveys the material to his students flawlessly. This class pushed me be to a better student, and although the material was tough, with time and effort you will succeed. He explains everything at a beginner level and everything you need to pass will be in his lecture notes and lab book.
Dr. Macs classes were the best classes I took at nwfsc (anatomy 1 and 2 through dual enrollment) His class is entirely lecture based but he keeps them fun and interesting. The tests are hard but if you stay engaged with the lectures and ACTUALLY studying on your own you will know everything on them! Labs are fun and easy. Overall great class!!
hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. you learn so much, lecture are phenomenal. you won't regret taking him
Dr. McArthur is amazing. He makes it a point to get his students engaged in the material and I was genuinely excited to go to his class every week. His tests are hard if you don't study, but all the content on the tests are from his in-class lectures and the lab book. He truly cares about the success of his students. I highly recommend him!!
Truly one of the best professors I have ever had. The material is challenging but he makes you want to work hard and earn your grade. He is ver smart and passionate about the material but makes it interesting to listen to. He grades tests very fairly. I would definitely take him again.
Dr. Mac as i call him, is my favorite professor to date. I had him for both AP1&2 & each class has been amazing. No homework as your homework is to study, his lectures are spot on for tests. He's funny & genuinely loves teaching and wants his students to excel. Tough class but sooo rewarding. Never dropped below a 100 for quizzes and tests.
Definitely a good class- you need to study alot as almost all the tests are fill in the blank. He interacts with the students very well. By the end of the semester you leave really knowing the information that was taught...
Was a fantastic prof. I had to drop the class because I worked too much and didn't give myself enough time to study. I'm retaking him next semester and I'll give myself the time for it. Study for tests 2 weeks in advance and make practice guides for yourself as well with the practice guides he gives you. Every lecture was fun to go to!
The most amazing professor Ive ever had. Was recommended by several of his past students who are now RNs. Hes fair, and explains exactly what you need to know. He lets you draw a picture or put it in words on most of the essay questions. I tend to draw it and explain. He should have a building named after him on the campus. Hes phenomenal.
Amazing professor. Knows what to teach you and there is never nothing asked that he didnt teach you. Fair and if you want an A you better work for it. This class is not for slackers or those non medical students who need a science credit. This class will consume you, but you will be thankful you took him for your medical journey.
Dr. McArthur is an amazing professor! A&P is a hard class, but with his lab manual and detailed lectures it was easy to pass. Don't take this class if you don't study, this is hard material to learn, but he gives a ton of extra credit on tests and is very willing to go over things in detail until they are understood. 10/10 highly recommend.
Took this professor for Anatomy 1 and 2. Made As in both classes. You have to be willing to put in the work if you want to pass. He lays it all out for you and you will know what to study for. Hes fair in grading. If you do not pass it was totally your own choice. Hes a rare find in this world!
Hands down, the best professor I've ever had. It's a lot of information and takes a lot of time outside of class to study. He explains the information through pictures and scenarios to make it easier to understand. The tests are made with patient/provider situations and gives you a better understanding of the medical field. Would take again!
A great professor. Took him for A&P I and II. Easy to understand and tells you exactly what's expected on tests. Lots of information to learn, but he gives tons of extra credit on tests. Try not to miss because he goes over quite a lot in one class. A really funny guy too, you will enjoy being in class. Overall a real gem of a teacher.
Professor McArthur is the BEST of the best! His lectures are amazing and you are always learning. You can't skip class because he covers always something that you need to know. You really, really have to study but it is worth it. He is an awesome professor and he is always accessible and ready to support you.
Dr. McArthur is a great teacher. He makes you actually learn the material, not just memorize it. Tests are composed of two parts: one multiples choice section and essay section with extra credit. By far my favorite class. Can't recommend him enough! However, be prepared to work for your grade. Come to every class and study hard!
Nice but never answers emails. 1 test plus report is all. Never heard from after class moved online due to virus; he has 3 days b4 turning grades in but no one has any grades yet. I don't know what I got on the test over 7 weeks ago. I hope for an A but I'm completely in the dark. In class, if u miss a day u miss a lot; all lecture. Don't use book.
Took A&P 1 &2 with Dr. McArthur. He's the best. Very few graded items. Tests are multiple choice and short answer and some diagraming.
Prof. McArthur is a great teacher and very laid back. His class is hard but he makes things simple. He is very understanding about missing class/tests. Also his online classes are very easy!
Dr. McArthur is the most knowledgeable and down to earth professor you could ask for. He knows what he's talking about and he makes it relatable to real world situations. Listen to the man, do what he says, and apply his class to your professional life moving forward.
ABSOLUTE AMAZING INSTRUCTOR! I took his class for both A&P I & II. It was tough, don't get me wrong. But he has such great lectures and he explains everything very well. He keeps class intertaining too, probably the only class that I could stand for 3 hrs 2x a week (haha). He replies very quickly and I was able to makeup exams if needed. Take him!
This professor made me want to learn. The subject didn't matter. He is a great professor. I enjoyed his class VERY VERY much. 10/10
Because of Covid, I had to finish anatomy and physiology 1 online. Prof. McArthur was the best teacher I have ever had in person. When we switched to online, he became impossible to reach and no longer taught the material. He posted a word document with the information and expected you to learn it yourself. Overall, if you can take in person, do it
Dr Mac is tough but he is a very nice instructor and he prepares you for going into the medical field. If you are only taking this class for a credit then take someone else. If you are taking it to go into a medical field take Dr Mac you will learn. Its not easy but its beneficial.
There were two test and one research paper. Entire lecture notes and study guide were given. However, there was no online guidance. I was expecting weekly or monthly updates on what we were learning about. It's all about memorizing. I have no idea what I learned from this course, or what part of the body I was studying. Good luck.
Professor McArthur is definitely my favorite professor at NWFSC. He is very dedicated to his work and clearly lays out everything you need to know in each lecture. Be prepared to take lots of notes and listen closely. It is definitely a difficult class if you don't study and use the handbook that he writes himself. I loved this class and this prof.
Professor McArthur is a great teacher... only to those going into the medical field. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING INTO THE MEDICAL FIELD, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Prof McArthur is a true gem. If youre looking for a sign to take him, this is it! Hes not like most professors. His lab manual (only thing required) will help you later in life. His tests are real life situations. Come to class, take notes in your lab manual, and you will pass with an A.
Do not take him. Seems like a simple and a pretty much laid back class. However Once you get closer to final, he takes off with all of these tests. Ive never struggled in college but with his class I definitely was stressed out among others. Exams are insane you will have 25 multiple choice ?then 5 essay questions that are worth 40 points or more.
10/10 recommend Dr. Mac if you are going into the medical field. Don't let the negative reviews discourage you. Highly recommend recording his lectures to listen to later while studying. FLashcards, his lab manual, and the self-control to sit down and learn. He loves to see you apply knowledge, be prepared to think! Can't wait for A&P 2.
Took both A&P I and II. Got a B in A&P I, an A in A&P II. You HAVE to put in effort for this class. Yes, there is no 'homework', but not studying for lab and lecture tests will cause you to fail. Fun class, hard, but I learned a lot.
Fantastic professor! His study guides, if you memorize all the info according to the layout, you will get an a on the test. I am a visual learner and his style of showing and drawing during his lectures really helped me understand the material very well.
Very good professor, I would definitely take him again if I had to. He gives 2 exams and 1 research paper. The exams are about 20 multiple choice questions with two or three essay questions, and he offers extra credit on them as well. If you show up, take notes, and study a little, its impossible to not get an A
As long as you put in the effort you will pass the class. Attendance is mandatory, the context of lectures is needed and just getting the notes from someone else wont cut it. You need to manage time wisely, and make sure you understand the material clearly. He is very passionate - it shows! I would 100% take any class he taught
He's a wonderful teacher, loves relating things to the real world. He's an awesome story teller, and if you love taking notes... take his class. His grades rely heavily on tests, however, it's just memorization based. His classes are fun, and he loves speaking to his students on breaks about personal interests and aspirations.
Professor Mac is an amazing professor, very passionate about the subject he is teaching. This course is super interesting as well, I looked forward to the lectures every week. But, this was by far the hardest course I've taken at the college so far. This class forces you to learn the topic. I studied around 6-10 hours each weekend to get my grade.
I can genuinely say that Dr. Mac is one of if not the most kind, compassionate, caring, intelligent, and helpful instructors/mentors I have ever had. He not only cares about teaching the material, but genuinely cares for the students future success and education. He teaches tough classes but if you put in the effort you will get a phenom education!
Professor McArthur is one of the best educators I have met. His lectures are filled with vital information that is applicable. He does not care if you can remember information from a textbook. He wants you to think critically and he will help you with anything you need. Highly recommend!
literally the best anatomy professor Ive ever had!!! tells funny stories and gives cool extra credit and cares about his students and their dream careers. attendance 100% matters if you wanna pass. lectures heavy! draws understandable pictures and emails back fast! cant wait to have him for A&P2!
He is funny and makes learning interesting! He has his own book that is very helpful. Three tests that are very hard, just make sure to study a lot! Four labs that are easy. One of my favorite teachers and you will not regret taking this class.
I enjoyed Dr. McArthur's class. His lectures were heavy but as long as you pay attention to them then it should be an easy A. His Labs are easy 100. His lectures have extra credit which helps a lot. He's one of the best teacher! He has a nice sense of humor, understanding and kind. I will definitely take AP2 with him again.
Just finished taking A&P2 with him and took A&P1 last spring semester. He's the best professor and you won't regret taking him! He lectures heavy but he makes it very understandable and gives extra credit! Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. I'll miss being in his class and hearing his daily funny stories!
Knows the material, but very rude. Can make others feel stupid. This might work for others, but in my opinion, I prefer professors who encourage you and help you.
He knows the material and teaches well. I honestly tried hard in this class but still got bad grades. I guess the medical field wasn't right for me. There was an exam that I failed because I forgot to answer one of the essay questions even though I knew the answer perfectly :( Overall, Professor McArthur is a great professor.
Professor McArthur was a good professor. Not the best but "ok" He is very knowledgeable in the medical field, but I noticed that he was a little rude to some people in the class.
He is a very funny and down to earth guy. He is great at teaching and giving you loads of time to procrastinate.
I took Professor McArthur for General Biology. He's very knowledgeable and is happy to answer questions and have discussions. Our class was supposed to have two tests and a final research paper but we only ended up with one test and a paper. He gives everything you need to study for the test, so really your grade reflects how much work you put in.
Dr. McArthur will be one of the best professors I will ever have! He is truly an amazing professor and dedicates so much time to his lectures. You will not find his lectures anywhere; he knows exactly what he is talking about! I don't plan on going into the medical field, but I am so happy I took his course. I will truly miss his lectures!
He was okay. Nothing really to complain about.
Dr. McArthur is extremely knowledgeable in Anatomy, and it shows. A&P 1 and 2 are considered difficult courses, but if you are going into the medical field, absolutely take them with Dr. McArthur. He is absolutely the best professor I took at NWFSC while getting my AA.
Amazing teacher just study study study!
Professor McArthur is a knowledgeable instructor, though his teaching style can be a bit blunt at times. The course is challenging, but engaging. I found the free textbook and resources like unstuck ai helpful for studying and preparing for exams.
Not planning on going into medical school (I suck at science/anything medical) but I needed this class for the credits. I have never studied so much in my life. I highly recommend downloading a 3-D skeleton app - super helpful when it comes to the labs. Anyways, you should only take this class if you are serious about going into the medical field.
Respected in his field turned professor. He's incredibly knowledgeable and will take your education to the next level. Don't take this class if you want an easy A, it is not for people looking to just get by. But if you're going into the medical field there is no other class that is going to prepare you like this one. He's very fair and helpful.
Dr. Mac is an amazing professor. He really enjoys his subject and tells lots of stories. The material is hard and there is a lot of it, but if you study well his class is not difficult. Your grade is based off of lab tests (5% x5) and lecture tests (25% x3). You need the lab manual but no textbook. He's a fantastic professor and really cares.
Dr. McArthur is such an amazing professor. He teaches the medical model so it's much more practical. It is lecture heavy but it has all the information for the tests. A lot of studying is involved but it's so worth it.
He says a lot of stories
Dr. Mac is an amazing professor! His class is very tough and lecture-heavy heavy but as long as you are showing up for class, participating and studying daily, you will do great. He is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about his student's futures.
Very arrogant and condescending to anyone who asks questions. No idea how he has so many positive reviews. He was not helpful at all. Do NOT recommend McArthur! Very political, too.
My professor has a clear and engaging teaching style that makes complex Anatomy and Physiology concepts easier to understand. They break down challenging topics into manageable steps, using examples and diagrams to reinforce the learning process. Lessons are organized, built on previous material, and encourage participation.
Dr. Mac presents Anatomy and Physiology with clarity and enthusiasm, using a medical model to prepare students for real-world scenarios. His clever use of pictures makes key topics memorable, and his organized, supportive approach creates an engaging environment for success.
He was the best professor I ever had. I am currently at UCF and I wish there were more professors like him. If you annotate notes straight from his lectures, you'll be able to understand everything. He makes things easy to remember and fun. Take him!!!
He is a wonderful. Biology just wasn't my thing so obviously I struggled.. but he is the best at NWFSC. Make sure you know how to study WELL. Otherwise take him!
