Mills is a great professor, his lectures are amazing and he is able to explain complex chemistry in a structured way to make it understandable. Unfortunately he is a very hard grader and lacks a lot of social skills. I enjoyed his class and wish I would have take more advantage of the extra credit.

Ok, i can see why his rating is low, tbh, this is not a guy you want to be friends with, theres definitely times where he may not be the nicest but apart from that, hes a smart man, funny, and gives you all the resources thats needed to be successful in his class. Labs were pretty hard, but apart from that, watch his YT vids and do EC. Easy A.

Crude jokes but didn't bother me. Great lectures and well designed note packets you fill out during class. 0 multiple choice questions (except final) and if you miss one tiny detail on your work, you'll lose most or all credit. Class will push you out of your comfort zone. Good if you're serious about future rigorous courses (eg. nursing school).

Alot of extra credit opportunities, but I mostly hate that he doesn't assign homework. Mills doesn't put labs grades or extra credit points towards your grade until the last week of class. Super rude and crude. Makes a big deal about the textbook but then doesn't use it. Seems to play favorites, and it isn't the female/ female presenting students.

do whatever u can to avoid taking this professor. he decides early on who he likes and who he doesnt. he takes off a ton of points on exams even if u get the answer right. one time he took points off my exam for a mistake, but took no points off my friends exam for the exact same mistake.

He provides extra credit to a fault. Every time you're late, speak out of turn, dare touch your phone, or are absent, you lose points. Even excused absences you'll lose points. His grading is sloppy with no clear instruction on how to fix mistakes. Marks off an insane amount of points for minor mistakes. Class is easy, could sleep through and pass.

Following JJC now taking upper level Chemistry courses at a four year university, I can confidently say that Professor Mills catalyzed my love and interest in the field of Science. While grading is test heavy, participation and extra credit opportunities will come natural to an enthusiastic student, alongside extracurricular research opportunities.

Very very rude. I genuinely do not understand how or why you would teach kids if you don't like helping/teaching students when you could just work in a lab. There is extra credit but the test and labs are hard and he is a very inconsistent grader. It almost seems like he looks for points to take off.

Overall, he made chem easy to understand and easy to pass but is a very rude teacher.

There's a lot to say. Lectures were entertaining. The tests weren't bad if you knew what you were doing, except the grading was something... He was rude at times if you tried asking for help (I could not read his handwriting for the life of me, especially during the labs). I'd suggest doing as much extra credit to boost your grade for the Final.
