Very rude, especially via email, has form letter accusing you of being absent
Slight language barrier, but makes up for it with sense of humor
Very unfair in grading. VERY rude.
Stormed out of class and wouldn't answer student questions about exams.
English barrier, small, boring class, and slight attiutude...nuff said
goes thru material very fast. exams fairly difficult
poor english. hard tests. unfair grading. gets angry. just not a good teacher!!
I like how he talks, not clear, says "UUUUUUU-DDDDDDD" a lot=)
Nice guy, but not a good teacher, avoid his class if you can
Do yourself a favor get another teacher. Deceptively hard. Tricky tests.
I never opened the book and I got an A, he has an accent though.
PLEASE
You have to work hard- I got an A in Stat but I am struggling in Math- great guy
goes through material too fast, frustrating to be in his class!!!!!!!!
You guys are wrong. So he has an accent. He is a good teacher and a nice guy!
hard to understand, tests are given by dept., not him, so you're gonna take it
is difficult to understand his class but is very nice to the students
unclear, confusing and messes up in lesson a lot, sort of rude at times, rambles
Nice guy...easy A...do the practice exams and you'll be fine.
very generous with curves...but you need it after taking his tests
if certain students weren't so prejudice they'd be fine
English is tough to dechipher, gives excellent after hours help
take someone else
I could tell you more if I had understood what he was saying.
Really nice guy...do the practice tests and get an A
thwee, aasymtoatically, and gwaph are not words!!!! Learn English!!!!!
hard class, but really nice guy- talk to him after hours, funny in class
Very Nice Guy---accent makes it hard to understand....go to class.
needs to learn how to speak english!
Not structured...once spent an entire class discussing 1 problem!
nice guy, a little hard to understand, take practice tests and get an A
some of you idiots couldnt speak 2 foreign words, dont be so ignorant
Taught the material didn't just present it.

Go to class & ask for help, hes great & will go out of his way to help u, funny
He is a nice guy and will do his best to help you. Has a heavy accent
Nice guy, teaches slow, clumsy
hated the class at first but he actually turned out to be nice
Nice guy, wants students to understand, accent is NOT that bad
It's not the accent, it's the fact that HE can't even do the homework problems!
he's impossible to follow in class, makes freq mistakes but tests are super easy
Hard to understand & follow, but is very helpful!!!!
nice man, test q's right from hw, what could be easier? A easy to get.

Late to class everyday, NO Quizes, collects HW for grading, Needs to learn Eng.
Great teacher. Hilarious to those who aren't uptight tools.

HARD to understand......stupid quizzes, but MUCH easier than math221!
hard to understand, always available for questions and extra help
accents not that bad funny guy, tests slightly hard just do hw and youll be fine
very nice guy..go to his extra help & tutor sessions, u will get an A..
Understandable, late, clumsy, but you'll end up with a GOOD grade in the end!
VERY hard to understand...hated my class..you'll get a good grade in the end
Thought class was hard but did well...difficult to understand but good overall
can anyone understand this guy!?
Good teacher. Got an A. Do homework and go over notes. You will be fine!
easy easy teacher, did homework, never went to class...he's really hard to understand, and really bad at explaining things.
Really nice guy, explains things well. Go to class and do homework and you'll be fine. I pulled off an A
Nice guy, you get used to the accent. Tries to make sure you understand material. Do the homework & go to class and you'll do fine!
nice profess, get used to accent, will try to explain if you ask,hw is easier than exams, study and do hw and will do fine, would take him again
accent is not bad, hw COMPLETELY different from DIFFICULT exams, JERK in class
Easiest prof I have ever had in my life. Just go to class and you will get an A.
if you constantly want your intelligence insulted, def take this class!! he's a jerk!!!
He is the best teacher I ever had and I hope if he teach all the classes which I have to take for my degree. He is so respecteful and helpful as well, he is so fair in his exams all the time.
One of the best prof i've had here. go to class and keep up with the homework. sooo nice
He's got a crazy accent (Uganda) that at times is difficult to understand..not really that helpful, and he will call on you if youre not paying attention. Not very good at explaining some things, needs to learn and understand english better.
He can't teach, jumps from one point to another, doesn't want to help you but acts like he does, test are different from homework, the homework is so long. Moves to fast to actually learn the material.
Wonderful professor, very easy to understand, has cool accent. I wish he would teach Calculus next semester. Keep up with the homework, tests are much easier than the homework.
He jumps around makes material harder then it really is. He thinks its funny to make fun of people and call them out for no reason!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He's from africa so if you want to deal with his accent, go right ahead but this class is hard as hell.
really confusing, mumbles a lot and talks to himself...tries to be funny.
Horrible teacher. Seems nice, but is extrememly rude. Easy A - he wants everyone to do well. But if you ask a question, he makes faces like "are you that dumb that you need to ask a question like that?"
The worst professor at UD! He doesnt even understand the material he's teaching, students constantly have to correct him, and he doesnt explain things clearly. He's very rude when students ask legitimate questions, didnt prepare us for tests or math202.
HANDS DOWN WORST PROF EVER!!!!!!!! nothing but rude and unclear...can't teach his way out of a paper bag..bad accent...oh and what's samplimpling? I don't know either...he calls ppl out for asking legitimate questions and is just horrible!!! SAVE YOUR
Not too bad. Kinda cool accent. Average difficulty. But he talks to himself, makes jokes he's thinks he's hilarious, and enjoys making fun of people and calling you out.
so cute, he makes a lot of jokes that you can't help laughing at. willing to help, if you keep up with assignments and study for tests it's really easy. nice guy!!
Dude is an A-Hole...Makes fun of you for asking normal questions. Tries to make you feel dumb for trying to learn. Cant understand what he says and he barely understands himself and what hes teaching.
Not a bad teacher, I just hate math. All multiple choice tests. Beware of his lessons about college life.
funny guy, but hard to understand sometimes. easy course if you have any prior knowledge to algebra or stat.
hmm i guess the class isnt that hard considering i went to it like 10 times the whole semester and got a b. i didnt really like him and didnt think he was a good teacher from what i did see
VERY hard to understand. Makes you feel stupid when you ask a legitimate question. Speaks to students in a condescending manner. Not approachable.
he has a great accent. Not a difficult class but very hard to understand because of his accent. don't ask questions, he won't help, ask someone else who gets the material to help you. trust me from personal experience he will pass u if you tell him you need a c-. trust me, i should have gotten a D-.
He's a cool guy, just kinda hard to understand. I never met a professor that made a mult. choice test hard.
Once you get used to his accent, hes easy to understand. Cant work problems sometimes, but generally knows the material very well. Tests are easy. Textbook is worthless unless you dont go to class.
Don't take him i got like pretty good grades in math thruout highschool. was never too good at it, but was always able to pull an A or B i couldnt understand him, he didnt prepare us for exams at all. when he worked problems, he often got confused and had to start over. knew his stuff, but sucked
The final exam review was worthless as he spent most of the time on problem he couldn't figure out until someone helped him. Most tests had at least one problem that had wrong answers, and he tended to show up to class late. He had only a moderate accent, which was fairly easy to overlook.
The worst class ever, you can't understand him, and class is a waste of time because he just goes through problems in the book and usually can't even solve them himself. He likes to call people out a lot too
I did the homework and went to class. Easy if you do those 2 things
Go to class, most of the time he would use problems he went over in class for the exams. Also, do your homework, the other problems were from the book. The exams were mostly mult. choice but there were some free response. The final review was a joke, don't waste your time going.
Very hard to understand and not very helpful at all, sometimes when students would ask questions he would make them feel stupid. Sometimes I also had to answer questions for people and doubted he even knew what he was talking about. The only good thing, I should have gotten a C but I got an A-
knows math, but doesn't know how to teach it, your grade is basically 3 exams..doesnt directly answer questions because i dont think he even understands, nice guy, but not a good math teacher at all
Dr. Mwerinde is such a nice man. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. If you do the homework and go to class, you will do great. He's so nice!!! :)
He is the nicest man you'll ever meet and don't believe the bad comments. He is very helpful and is clear in explaining things. It's awesome because he drops your lowest quiz and test grade at the end of the semester. Then he replaces it with ur final. Funny accent and awesome guy!
Very helpful outside of class, and very clear on expectations from the beginning. If you do all or most of the homework, you'll have no problem on his exams. Make sure the stuff of on the exam reflects class material that was covered though. If you get a question on an exam that seems odd, it might not just be you.
Awesome teacher...uses notes and homework problems on tests. Easy to approach and ask questions. Nice person and friendly as well. Do your part and you will easily get an A or a B!
nice attitude but most of the time i found myself learning from other peers.
eeeehhhh...
Extremely nice man, has a thick accent but he has no problem repeating himself. Very important to come to class, he makes you feel guilty for missing. Goes very slowly when something is difficult, everything you need for exam is clear.
language barrier!!! you have to teach yourself. if you take notes and usually do homework you will pass. he is hard to understand in class, you just copy what he writes on the board
Do the homework (even though it's not required) and the material on the tests will be pretty much the same. The textbook used gives pretty good examples and is pretty clear. Mwerinde is funny, friendly, helpful. Just do your part.
Very nice professor, knows what he is teaching and does it well. Does have an accent, but it does not bother me. Very good professor, a good one to welcome new Freshmen to college.
Prof Mwerinde sometimes knows what he's talking about, other times if you know what you're doing you have to correct him. If you can learn the material on your own dont go to class, just go to labs. Our class had 3 tests, non-cumulative, and the lab grades. If you can teach yourself, this is the class to take. Wording on the tests can be tricky.
Teaches basically from the book. Gets tripped up sometimes and puts the wrong information on the board. Dont ask questions b/c he wont understand your question, your better off reading the book. Test can be tricky. Easily persuaded to do things like make the test non-cum, and to be let out early. Take him if you are cool with teaching yourself
You will not learn anything in class, just teach yourself from the book and do the homework even though its not required. The only problem is he gives a ridiculous amount of homework problems, so you might as well wait for him to send the email with the problems you really need to know how to do. Curves at end, grade much higher then expected.
I don't honestly know how he got a job teaching. Accent is thick but doesn't affect student understanding, makes frequent mistakes on board which are funny. Is good teacher but grades unbelievably hard. One question wrong (part of a question actually) lowered test score from A to C.
sometimes hard to understand with his accent, but he is always willing to repeat himself. he is very helpful and friendly, & will actually go through & do example problems with you, unlike most teachers. the tests are kinda tricky, but the labs are pretty easy. sometimes he trips up on his words, but overall, he's a really nice guy.
our class had open book open note exams. take really good notes and do probs and you will do really well in the class. I know some people in my class had a hard time but they thought since it was ope book they really didnt need to do work. YOU DO! need to attend class but he does examples, so that helps.
REALLY Nice guy. tries really hard and is very dedicated to try to help you if you ever have questions or problems. was pretty good teaching 201 if u do some problems from each chapter but got really confusing at 202 b/c of communication problems. if youre decent with statistics take him tests are open book and notes and multiple choice.
to begin the course 114 is simple so it was not a hard class. Mwerinde is a real nice guy from uganda with a thick but discernable accent. He does have some problems explaining questions but he tries. He tries to get everyone to participate but i was too busy sleeping most of the time. Math dept. all follow the same curriculum anyways
A tad hard to understand at times because of his accent, but he is an extremely kind and patient teacher. Although he has a tendency to make mistakes in class. His tests are straight from the book.
I took Stat I with him, and got a C+. I never learned a thing, and I'm a very active student. He is a bad teacher. You'll learn more from the book... which I learned to do in Stat II. I got an A. He's a nice guy, generally likable, but he should not be teaching. Makes a lot of mistakes, doesn't explain anything. Open book tests are the saving grace
he is a very nice teacher. he can be a little hard to understand but if you continue to ask questions, he will do his best to clear it up.
Let me 1st say that the people who are complaining should try and take MATH201 with Crissinger and they will quickly learn to appreciate Mwerinde. Very good teacher and very helpful if you approach him after class. Really not that hard to understand if you pay attention. Tests are VERY fair. Take him if you can!!
Hard class in general. He is ALWAYS willing to help you. I would ask questions before class, during class, and after class he never complained at all. However, my class was open book and notes class. He is a sweet guy who wants you to succeed, so take his class!
Is a nice guy, but does not know how to teach math or how to answer students' questions. Your grade is based solely on 3 tests which are 25 questions each. Tests are open book but are difficult because he puts questions on the exams with very strange wording. So even though you know the material you may not do well on the tests.
very nice, hard to understand, stat is difficult...open book tests saved me, however he said they are no longer going to be open book, so i dont recommend him, his teaching was not helpful for me.
ugh he might just be the WORST math teacher ever <3 he cant answer questions and has no idea what he's doing... stick with your high school pre-calculus notes. they will save your life.
Class is not easy whatsoever. Tests are very difficult. Only 25 questions. I knew how to do all the work but the test his questions trick you. Worked hard and got a C+ and I'm and A student...
Horrible class!!! I had the WORST time in this class. Very unclear and tests are difficult. Take ANYONE ELSE.
He tries hard.. but sometimes he just doesn't know what students are asking so he rambles off on something he thinks may be correct. I got a good grade but I would sit in the math lab for hours a day. The tutors and doing the practice problems he gives will definitely help you pass.
nice man. prolly the WORST teacher i have ever had. showed up 20 min late to an exam. takes forever to teach one problem. tests were hard. dont even bother with class i taught myself everything...avoid taking him
nice guy, but not a good teacher. doesn't always know what he's teaching and doesn't understand students' questions. tests are tricky.
Horrible man. Horrible class. DO NOT TAKE him for 201 or 202. He is hard to understand, doesn't know what he's teaching, shows up late for tests, and forgets we have class. He is also very sarcastic in nature and not approachable. If possible, take another professor.
Mwerinde is the man...everyone else needs to stop complaining about him, hes a great guy and decent teacher
Probably the worst teacher I've had including K-12. I don't know how they hired this guy. It's basically Seraphin wearing a wig. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would say Seraphin is the lesser of two evils. If you take Mwerinde get ready to get a tutor.
I do not know how the university hired this man. He does not speak a word of english and could potentially be the worst teacher at UD. Class had about 100 people in it and about 20 would actually attend lecture. Going to class actually made it more confusing because he didn't know what he was teaching. Take anyone but him!
This guy is pathetic. He doesn't speak any english and he knows nothing about statistics. Students in the lecture were literally correcting his mistakes for him. He's gives no insight for the exams. It's really sad that my parents paid 3 grand for this class and I taught myself all the material from the textbook. Delaware, please fire this guy
Honestly the dude does not speak english at all, how he got hired after an interview is ridiculous. Study the textbook and you will do fine, dont go to class he makes it more confusing
wow where do i begin...how this man has a job is beyond me, terrible teacher class is pointless, doesnt return emails, takes forever to go over 1 problem. its like he doesnt even know hes alive, like hes discovering something for the first time everytime he looks at it...just a ridiculous human being. tests try to trick you and hes no help.
Stay 6 miles away from this guy at all times. Despite the fact that the subject matter is incredibly boring, this guy makes it 200 times worse. He speaks broken English, never returns e-mails, and is never is at his office hours. Guy is a horrendous teacher the worst I have ever and will ever haver guaranteed. Such a joke. Unbelievable.
He was ok. I'd recommend him, but he had an accent and gave a nice chunk of homework. Great guy, though really nice and patient.
Good teacher. I wish I could take him every year. If you go to class and make an effort to participate you will learn fast. You get used to his accent, just sit in front. He gives back points on test. Very nice guy and he always responded to my emails. I got a B+. You have to try though and he does give a lot of homework.
no. people who like him took math117, not stat. the reason they like him is, well, its math117. Once he gets into anything beyond basic algebra he confuses everyone including himself. His poor command of English leads to weird exam questions. in class he loses focus and has no direction. please do not take this class, he needs to be fired.
BOSS. Mwerinde is the man! Take any class this man teaches.
Horrible teacher; will NOT help you at all even if you go to him for extra help; tests are impossible; WAY too much hw and the grading is wacked; DO NOT take this teacher for 117!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He literally cannot speak English, his accent is so bad. He has no direction in class, and the students are always correcting him. His tests are really hard and he doesnt help you out at all, even if you go to extra help. He is a jerk in class. Do yourself a favor and do w.e you can to avoid being in his class, Math 202
not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
Hes really not as bad as people say. You really get used to his accent and he covers the material pretty well. The tests are open text and notes so you dont really have to memorize anything, but you do have to study beforehand. Homework is not manditory and he curves at the end of the year. Overally not a bad class.
VERY hard class! Start out with a tutor!!! Mwerinde is not helpful and often gets confused when explaining a problem. Try to avoid!
the most amazing professor and one of the coolest dudes I've ever met
He assigns an unbelievable amount of homework all due on like three days throughout the semester and only grades 6 problems out of the literal hundreds you do. Those could be the 6 you had trouble on so it's complete B.S. to me. He always has to cram the material in class before the exam because he's always behind schedule. Avoid at all costs.
As, others posted, this is not an easy class at all. His accent you can get used to, but still hard to understand. Frequently writes worng numbers down and has to be corrected. Exams are INSANE. All MC but still a challenge. From what I heard an average score on one test this semester was in the mid 50s! Think twice before taking!
He takes all class working on 3-4 problems for the chapter, making it very hard to complete homework and do well on exams. He is always behind and rushes right before an exam. Is not useful with help.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR MATH 117!! he is a TERRIBLE teacher and usually the class ends up correcting him. notes do not help at all, you have to teach yourself after class. Material is easy, he is just absolutely terrible at teaching. The book will be your lifeline for passing this class.
Awful teacher. Avoid at all costs.
He confuses himself and spends long minutes staring at the board: "Oh, what did I do?" is his most common phrase, while we sit there watching our tuition pay for him trying to figure out his own mistakes. It's agonizing. Do your best to find a different teacher.
After reading the comments, I thought to myself, 'How bad could he be?' I hate myself for asking that question. Avoid him if you can. You get used to his accent and he's a really nice guy. But he makes so many mistakes and seemed as if it was the first time he was teaching the course in class and while using minitab. I want my tuition back.
Worst teacher i've had so far as a UD student. He messes up all the time and doesn't relate to the students at all. Do not take this class! he has a heavy accent that is often times hard to understand. He can be very rude and condescending. I chose this teacher because it fit with my schedule but i should i have just waited till next semester.
Honestly he's not a bad as people make him out to be. I could understand him fine and he was a really nice guy. Absolutely, take him over winter and do the hw problems, you'll thank me. Mwerinde is BOSS!!
Mwerinde is a GREAT professor. Yes, he messes up a lot in class, but if you go to his office hours, everything just seems to make more sense. DO THE HOMEWORK! I have an easy A in this class and his accent isn't so bad. Just keep up with his problems and you'll be fine!
Dr. Mwerinde is a nice guy who definately knows his stuff. He just has a hard time explaining it and above all being concise about what he is teaching. He tends to mess up in the middle of problems and often gets confused about what to do next. His test are pretty diffcult too. Basically if you are bad at math, avoid mwerinde.
Mrewinde is the worst Professor I have come across at this University thus far. Besides being late to every lecture he failed to teach necessary rules/concepts which were necessary for the impossible problems found on exams. Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mwerinde is the man. Halarious guy and a decent teacher. The people who said this guy can't teach and prepare you for exams are just wrong; he gives you everything you need to know. He is just a classic example of a scapegoat for people who wont take any blame for their own failings. I SUCK at math and got an easy A. Take him and go to class = Win
He is a nice guy but he only really teaches from example rather than teaching the concepts. Try to find a different teacher if you can
First exam very easy, 2nd one wake up call! Class average was 62, he refused to curve it because only half the class came after the 2nd exam. Lab is not bad if you have a good TA, overall you get the grade you work for, he is clear and concise but it is difficult material if you don't have experience in Stat.
Don't take Mwerinde. He's always late, and gets confused in the middle of problems EVERY SINGLE TIME, and is extremely hard to understand. Uses examples only and never his own knowledge. Doesn't curve even though the exam avg was a 62. Better off teaching yourself via the textbook than going to lecture.
The first couple of weeks I would go to every class until I took the first exam. It was easier to skip class and teach myself then go and suffer through learning nothing. If you HAVE to take his class read the textbook!
His accent isn't really that bad. I'm hard of hearing and once I got used to it I could understand him pretty well. Just sit in the front. He is a very nice guy and wants his students to do well. A lot of people wait until last minute to do the homework or don't try to get help and so they blame him. As long as you keep up you'll do fine.
Mwerinde is a nice man who does not know how to teach. He gets confused all of the time and is very bad at explaining things. He doesn't prepare you for the tests, but quizzes are very easy. This was one of the most frustrating classes I've had to take, and I like math. Daly is supposed to be better for 117, I would try taking her instead.
Not too bad, he spoon feeds the problems to you for each section. I learned that if you do the suggested HW (not a lot) you will get an easy A. Do the work and get an A - simple as that.
Really nice guy, but just doesn't explain the material well. Learned everything through reading the textbook. Also, the tests were just ridiculous. The fact that the second test had a 62 average and that most of the students need a c- to get the credit isn't fair. Unless there is a curve to final grades, he's going to screw over a ton of students
Although he is a little hard to understand with his accent, he is a great guy and really knows his stuff. If you sit towards the front of his class and go everyday, you will do fine. Its a tough class so just make sure you keep up with suggested homeworks and go to class often.
Dr. Mwerinde is without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't even make his own exams and does NOT prepare you well for them. He is very disorganized and at times was really rude to students. I would avoid taking him but if you have to make sure you read the book because that was a whole lot more helpful than he ever was
Mwerinde is the man, but not a good professor. The only thing I remembered from his class was him saying "Oh no... What did I do" in his crazy accent, and then having half the class trying to explain to him how to solve the problem.
He is a wonderful professor, but not a good teacher. He would offer to help you, and if you take the first step to find him he would help you; however, he is not the professor you would like to have its awful to have someone teaching you when you can't hear voice or read their hand writing.
Stay away from him. Terrible.
Not good at teaching.
Avoid at all costs. He does not prepare you for the tests, he barely speaks english. He spends most of class looking at the board saying "oh what did i do" and makes excuses for when he cannot do a problem.
I do not know why this man ever decided to be a teacher. He seems like a nice enough guy but I have learned absolutely nothing from him. I teach myself everything from the textbook and find class to be an infuriating waste of my time. Don't take him.
nice guy, awful teacher. do not take, wait til next semester for a better teacher if possible!
realy nice guy, but he can not teach worth his life. his accent can be hard to understand at times. messes up his own problems and cant fix them. doesn't use text book, and gives very little online homework. if possible find a different professor so you can actually learn.
He's a good guy but he apparently doesn't know how to teach properly. He's not well prepared. And he never takes responsibility for his students. I feel like it's kinda wasting my time sitting in his classroom. Honestly, it would be better for him to teach in a kindergarten instead of a university.
Professor Mwerinde is a really nice guy and really helpful if you can catch him during office hours. I thought he was an alright teacher, but sometimes contradicts what the book says. Do all the assigned homework and review every weekend and you should be fine.
At first, Mwerinde was definitely tough to understand and you weren't exactly sure what was going on all the time and I failed my first test. But I started going to office hours and made appointments to meet with him (he is VERY) flexible and my grade started to improve. Before the next test i did all the suggested hws and got an A on the test.
Hard to understand at first. Learning in class was difficult so I recommend going to office hours in order to receive a better grade.
Honestly, he is not the worst teacher I have ever had. Yeah his accent is kind of tough, but he knows what hes talkin about and shows you what to do for each section. The worst part of the class are exams which are like SATs, extremely tricky and at times unfair, but he does not make them. This class sucks now matter who you take.
Calc 241 was easier than this class do not take this if you don't have to...
Very difficult class. But Mwerinde is an extremely helpful professor. Every class he would stay after to answer students' questions and offer explanations to problems. Do the homework problems and you should be fine.
a lot of people find him hard to understand and think hes not a good teacher but thats just an excuse because they don't understand the material. He teaches well and everything is explained in the textbook so if you dont understand it just re-read the textbook and youll do fine. No homework and you don't really have to go to classes. big curve.
Whatever you do, do not take Mwerinde's class. He mixes up his classes all the time and went off on tangents. Exams had nothing to do with the practice problems discussed in class. Me and my GPA wished we had a different professor.
I went to the first class, withnessed the awkward silence that ensued after he put up a slide on the projector and felt like walking out right there. I had to sit through even more silence while he wrote examples on the board which he plainly state what he wrote... idk how the rest of his classes would be but I ran and never looked back!
Take ONLINE. 3 Homework sets, 2 exams and final..Much easier than going 2 class(got a D+ first time, retaking). I have an B+ online its ridiculously easy. 8 problems on HWs and Exams are short answer/MC with a graphing calculator and note sheet(take at online testing center). If you can take this online, video lectures+book I guarantee u will pass
Uggh. Impossible to understand, esp if you have a short attention span. Have to retake stat. Word of caution, the second exam is ROUGH, and by the time you get the grade back its too late to withdrawal or audit.
Impossible to understand, and he easily gets confused himself and forgets how to do problems...which makes it really hard to learn. Run away and don't look back!
Definitely not the best teacher for stat. Not very helpful, nice guy, but doesn't do a lot with class time. Try to take with someone else, but not horrible if you wind up with him. Make sure you do well on quizzes to boost your exam grades
He can be hard to understand sometimes with his accent. A lot of people do badly in the class and blame it on the teacher, but he's really not that bad. He's a pushover. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to do well, you should go to class. Quizzes every week, three tests. If you do the problems in the book, you should be fine.
201 itself is not a complete cakewalk (for most people). Mwerinde is a nice guy; tries to be funny by cracking random jokes that might elicit a laugh or two. Moves slowly (too slowly for me). Lab is a pain.
Not that bad. It wasn't an easy easy class, but definitely passable. The first two exams were hard and the third was too easy. It you have to take precalc, mwerinde is worth it. Three exams, four quizzes (mostly take home), and homework online, which is a grade booster.
Hard to understand. Does not know own material and makes mistakes all the time in class. You end up attempting to teach yourself the material. Try to avoid.
Let us take group quizzes. Could use notard on exams. Exams were too long to finish during class. He made a lot of mistakes when working through example problems on the board. Has a strong accent and is difficult to understand sometimes.
He's a nice dude, but he cannot teach to save his life. The exams are all MC and everyone seemed to do bad on them. I'd avoid him if possible.
Terrible
Don't even know where to start. I've had many bad teachers but he tops them all. Can't understand him. Shows up to class late every day. Cell phone constantly goes off. Went to his office hours and sat there for 10 minutes while he talked to someone on the phone. Just don't take the class. He is almost comparable to a first grade math teacher.
May be the worst teacher Ive ever had. Just read the book its really helpful.
Funny. Has some good jokes. Shows up late. Cell phone goes off. 1st grade level of teaching. Homework irrelevant to current subject in class. Easy. Gets his own example problems wrong. Uses examples til you fall asleep. Slow pace. Better off reading the book yourself and getting ahead.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had and I am still wondering how and why the University hired him.
BRUTAL
Terrible teacher...If that's what you even call him.
This class sucks no matter what teacher you get. I took AP statistics in high school and still didn't get a good grade. Avoid taking mwerinde if you can. He makes countless mistakes in class and you will end up teaching yourself. He's a nice guy but is an AWFUL teacher.
Nice guy but can not teach. He is always corrected by a student and second guesses his answers when ever a student asks him a question. If you have a choice between him and another teacher choose the other teacher unless your gonna have to teach yourself the whole semester
Such a sweet guy. just not the best teacher. He gets confused very easily and sometimes isn't able to explain things. The class was easy as long as you're able to teach yourself. We got to do group quizzes and use notecards on quizzes and exams. No homework just do the suggested book work and you'll be fine
terrible, he does not make things easy for you. All he will do is confuse you. Stay away from him i possible. If you do take this class, the textbook is way better than anything he can do.
The man simply cannot teach. Strongly recommend staying away from him unless you can teach yourself. Going to class is not helpful at all, as he confuses the class and can't even do his own problems.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I don't even know where to begin. Can't understand him due to his accent. Shows up late regularly. Answers his cell phone in the middle of class. Assigns HW assignments that don't pertain to the current topic, yet makes them mandatory. Doesn't make his own tests, so he's clueless on what to base teaching towards.
Completely awful. Impossible to understand. Doesn't write or even seem to look at the exams, teaches material that is unrelated or unhelpful. Snarky when you try to ask questions in class. I had to teach myself out of the textbook using MATH201 topic lists from last semester. Avoid this professor.
Regardless of who you have for Stat 1, it is going to be a tough class. I took it this winter session and actually did well because I kept up with the work and read the text book. Mwerinde is not a good teacher at all, so you really need to put in the effort on your own if you expect to pass this class. Trust me.
This professor is awful. He gave a faulty syllabus with incorrect dates, he never replied to emails asking for help because I dared to address him as "sir" and when I asked to meet with him he was late and very rude. I plan on filing a complaint. If you can avoid at all cost.
This professor is unhelpful, unclear, and unprofessional. Never have I been so displeased with a professor. For the rest of my time at this school I'm going to stay as far away from this poor excuse of an educator's classes as possible. I suggest anyone else who has to take this class to do the same.
This course is the hardest class I have ever taken. He is so bad at explaining things and doesn't seem to even understand the material himself. His accent is hard to understand. GET A TUTOR!
Do not take a class with Mwerinde. I don't even know where to begin! He has a Thick accent, he's rude, messes up his own examples, answers his phone in class.
Professor Mwerinde was hands-down the worst professor I''ve had. Exams were written by a different teacher so if Mwerinde didn''t cover the same material we were unprepared for the exams. He messed up his own examples and had a thick accent that made it difficult to understand what he was saying. I had to teach myself everything.
He is not very helpful in lecture, and I felt that I didn't learn much in lecture. He got more helpful as the course progressed, but he is not the greatest.
Lectures are him reading from book. Doesn't respond to emails because he is " bored" of responding to them. At least once during every lecture a student would correct him. Very confusing as he often messes up problems and equations. I didn't take calc in HS and taught myself. Testsquizzes don't correlate to class or hw. Avoid if possible.
Takes his notes straight out of the textbook which makes the class that much harder. I highly suggest studying on your own as well as watching YouTube videos on the information. Prepare for a hard class with a lot of preparation bc this class is a test of how much Calculus you learned in high school. Without my HS Calc class i would have failed.
I would recommend trying to get a different professor. You can get good grades but he is difficult to follow and if you haven't taken calculus before it's really challenging.
Professor Mwerinde is a super nice guy, but he is not a good professor. He does not convey the lessons well whatsoever, a thick accent definitely acts as a language barrier, and the TA's he chooses are no better. The tests and quizzes are written by the TA's, so they are very difficult. He gets confused by his own problems too. Avoid this class.
IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN CALCULUS BEFORE DO NOT TAKE IT FOR YOUR FIRST TIME WITH MWERINDE. Really nice guy but extremely hard to understand. Most of the time he even trips himself up and you end up spending the whole class watching him do a single problem incorrectly. The TAs he chooses are just as bad so don't think they'll be able to save you.
Although he doesn't speak english very well, he just wants you to pass. If you focus in class you will realize its not a hard class at all. DO half the optional homework problems and you will get an A. Don't be lazy or you won't pass. He's really a nice guy who means well. if you ask for help or clarification he will help enormously.
Patrick Mwerinde is a great person, he is very nice and genuine. Don't let his nice appearance fool you, this professor has poor teaching. Everyday we would go over maybe 1 or 2 problems and work through them as a class, keep in mind the teacher would sometimes even have trouble with the problems and everyone is confused. I do not recommend him.
literally worst prof i've ever had. first online class biggest regret. does not answer emails, or does after like 4 followups. super tricky quizzes and annoying exams, doesnt give you feedback just a grade. no curves or anything. material would've probably been easier to learn in a normal class but online is hell. would not recommend.
AVOID!!! Took over winter for pre-calc. Never followed the syllabus. Would very often get confused on his own problems, only to have a student correct him. ALWAYS behind on material. We were supposed to have exams every Friday, but we wouldn't even have covered half of the material said exam was on. Rushed material in. Late responses to emails.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! This class was the hardest i have taken so far. Not because of the material but because he is a horrible teacher. He rushes through the material and does not explain anything and even if you go to office hours he is worse. He is a nice guy but it is not worth the hassle.
Worst Professor I've ever had. His lectures are extremely unorganized and unclear, his accent is often too thick to understand, and he will often get confused on his own questions and require students to correct him. Prepare to teach yourself this class, because relying on his lectures for the material that will be on the test is a huge mistake.
If you had a good calc class in highschool you'll be fine, it is all the same stuff. If you didn't you will may struggle, maybe take it somewhere else. All of the calc profs are basically the same. Tests are department wide. Accent is a little hard to understand. Nice guy. Gives back points on quizzestests. Do homework on your own, not required.
His accent is very thick, i could barely understand him. He gives in class quizzes and activities that account for 20% of your grade so you need to go to class. He is often confused and looks to the class to right his wrong. Terrible teacher and not helpful at all. Seems to be a language barrier.
This professor is the worst professor at UD.
Terrible teacher. Less educated than his students. He comes to class and sits down at his desk and does not his job and teach. I want a refund for this class.
So Mwerinde is a nice guy, but his accent really makes this class hard. I personally didn't understand his teaching style and would rely on classmates to help me with homework. He often gets lost in his own problems. If can definitely try to avoid this class because you wont be prepared for the next math class
This class was so frustrating, I took prelacy in high school so the material wasn't that hard but if I had no prior knowledge about it, I would've really struggled with this professor
Had him for Calc I over winter- he was regularly 15+ minutes late & had to be corrected on his math or method/formula by a student multiple times every single lecture. During the last week, we had an exam Monday, & then in class on Tuesday he announced another exam for Thursday. Also, Friday we had a cumulative final... 3 exams in 1 week
He is not clear in explaining the course material, and it makes the class frustrating. MyMathLab will become your best friend. He has office hours and you can schedule time with him but do not expect him to help you.
Worst teacher I have ever had at UD. He is completely unclear. doesn't spend enough time on information. he doesn't know what he is teaching. I can't understand what he's saying. he is condescending. he doesn't respond to emails. he doesn't put up practice tests/study guides. everything is out of order. without a doubt the worst class ever.
Mwerinde is EXTREMELY hard to understand. He often makes mistakes during class when showing us how to do problems and loses his train of thought. There have been so many times where someone in my class has had to correct him. His tests are pretty hard, however one upside is that he does add on extra points to our tests if we attend class
Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, but some are just not meant to teach. He is clearly an intelligent man and incredibly sweet but he is so disorganized, not to mention that his accent makes it almost impossible to understand him on the rare chance that he even gives a lecture. Most classes you work w/ groups, so hope your table is smart!!
HE IS AWFUL! do not take his class
