Haven't finished this course yet, but he seems like a good professor. He's funny and engages the class in the discussions. He seems quite knowledgeable and willing to help.
He's very funny and interesting while a fair grader. Very helpful and answers all questions in class or at the end of class.
easy teacher. 4 essays all year all simple. really suggest taking!
This class changed my life.
Professor Niner is a great professor. He is always willing to help.
I really enjoyed this class. I had it on a Thursday night and I was usually happy to go because Professor Niner kept it interesting every class. We didn't have to take notes to much but it was necessary to pay attention. Do the work on time and you'll find the class very enjoyable.
I loved this class! Professor Niner is hilarious! He kept class fun, interesting, and informal too. I learned a lot without ever feeling overwhelmed. If I could just take this class for fun I would. And I rated him hot because he's awesome!<3
This teacher is awesome! He's super funny and chill. He makes you do the work but it's not hard and actually quite interesting.
I took an online class with Professor Niner through Nova. He is very informative and clearly states expections. After submitting essay drafts he makes corrections. If you make the corrections your essay essential gets an A, maybe B, if your cites are not correct. This is very helpful though because there's no wondering what grade you will get.
Excellent professor. Easily understood and instructions are clear. I definitely recommend him.
I'm taking this class now he's an amazing teacher! He's funny and he gives you that comfortable classroom feeling. he helps with public speaking and is very helpful. I'm definitely taking his class again for ENC 1102
Niner is a pretty good professor. He's very clear and laid back. The class isn't too hard, but it's pretty harsh grading. Nothing too bad, just make sure you show up every day and do your work. If you do that, you'll get an A.
I took Niner's Intro to World Lit & Culture II class which is a really awesome! I would definitely recommend it. It's an easy A if you read, take notes in class, and study even a little bit. You never write papers; you only do a quiz each class, reading reaction sheets, and the midterm and final. Niner is really funny, cool, and knows his stuff!
Professor Niner is a great teacher. He gives you a long time to write the essays and conference's with you before they're due. The work is easy, but you have an assignment due almost every class.
Great professor who makes learning and writing very fun and enjoyable. Very lenient and classes are almost never full lenght. He is basically the reason I passed comp. He is god.
Great Teacher, very funny and totally chill. Only have to write 3 or 4 papers the whole semester and you have plenty of time to do it. I really enkoyed his class!
Mr. Niner is the best teacher for Composition 1 and 2. He's good with working with students and you can visit with him anytime. The class is never boring. I recommend taking his class.
I love Professor Niner. He gives you so much time to turn your essays in. What i really love is that before essays are due he assigns conferences and cancels class for like two weeks in order to personally meet with you and grade and talk about your essay and for you to fix your mistakes so you can get a better grade before you turn it in.
I absolutely loved this class. Took this my first semester of college and he made me feel like I was actually going to make it in college! He works with you and is really involved with the students and was on our level. Very fun and interesting classes, I was never bored. You have to write a few papers but they are nothing to dread,TAKE THIS CLASS
Don't see what all the hype is about this teacher. Prepare to work hard to meet all his requirements and criteria on essays. He makes time go by fast but this is by no means an "easy A" class. I DO NOT recommend him. Not very helpful in my opinion.
Amazing Professor. All the comments already say it all. I used to dread English classes and writing papers, but I learned so much from him and really enjoyed the class. If you have an opportunity to take any of his classes then do it!
He grades tough but fair on papers, keeps class really interesting and simple, and is a pretty funny guy! He challenges you to do your best, so it's not an easy A, but you learn a lot. Would recommend.
VERY good. Makes english interesting with jokes and a lovely personality. The class is easy, but not a joke. You still need to do the work but he makes it very do-able. Take him for both Comp 1 and 2. Oral presentation at the end but it's 3-6 minutes long and he makes it an easy and comfortable learning experience.
Patrick Niner is the best English professor in the department. Do not hesitate for one second to take his classes. Great sense of humor and very entertaining to watch (his lectures are never boring).
I absolutely LOVE Niner, If he could teach every class for me I'd be the happiest student lol. His classes are focused around a few papers. He does grade harshly on papers but for everyone you go to conference and he tells you exactly what t fix so you can get a higher grade in the final draft. He's also pretty funny and treats you as equals.
He was a great teacher. If you do your assignments and listen to his lectures in class you will pass the class. There was one group project, and it was easy. He likes when students participate in class. Each assignment takes around hour to do if it is not long, and he grades them easy. I loved the class and would take him again if I could.
A lot of the readings are actually interesting and lectures are class-inclusive (won't stop staring until someone says something). Is VERY easygoing and most of the lectures are about opinions on the reading or personal thoughts. Only downside is the group project, he chooses for you. Attendance is graded so show up even if its easy.
Really great guy! I took his class for both ENC 1101 & 1102, I wish he taught another class that I needed. I enjoyed going to class. Very approachable if you need assistance with anything. He is experienced and serves as a great resource when writing essays. I highly recommend him.
I didn't find Niner all that helpful, and I plan on being an English major. When you try to ask a question, he usually stops you midway and answers what he thinks you're going to ask. When it isn't, he doesn't give you a second chance. I'd describe his teaching style as arrogant and sort of MIA. A big disappointment. No more Niner classes.
You must write your papers to fit his opinion. Terrible class. Only kind of good thing is that he has conferences that allow you to get your grade up... but that is it. Very opinionated and irrational professor. Also makes up grades for homework. If you can take it with somebody else, I suggest you do that.
Professor Niner is a great English professor that I would highly recommend. He is always there to help and make sure you get the best grade possible. Has one on one conferences to help make your essay better and get a better grade. He has a clear love for english and writing. I would highly recommend him if you are unsure looking for a professor.
Really good teacher for my first semester in college. I really liked him. I strongly suggest taking his class.
I highly recommend this class. It was interesting and very clear cut. He's understanding and willing to help. You'll never have a problem asking questions or talking about grade issues.
Loved this class. The only thing that was annoying is that he is a very tough grader yet the assignments were so simple. Attendance matters but we get a week off to construct each paper. He is a very funny and nice guy and is always willing to help.
Really good professor, enjoyed him and his class, he's great at helping you become a better writer, and isn't completely boring.
helpful, funny and gives good amounts of times to complete papers.
Professor Niner is definitely my favorite teacher. He holds conferences before every paper and tells you what your grade will be if you turned it in like that. This makes your grade easy to predict; it will always be higher than your conference score if you make the changes. Class is never boring and he tries his best to keep everyone engaged!
Professor Niner is the best comp professor at FGCU. We had three papers this semester, you write out your rough draft and then you conference with him and he will tell you everything you need to do to get a better grade.
Each paper you are assigned(4 total) he gives a lecture/ notes and explains the type of paper and how to do it for a week or two of classes. Once hes done with lectures he gives a week off to set up a conference where he tells you what you did wrong on your paper and what to do to make it an A. I HATE papers and he helped me get an A in comp 1&2.
He is manageable but tough. He is not an easy Comp 1 professor. I went to the writing center for every paper and got it proofread by two people there, yet i still got a B on all but one. He doesn't even give feedback on the final draft.
Only 4 papers and spends 2 weeks talking about papers. Then gives a week off to conference with him for 15 min about our essay draft. Gives you comments and feedback to fix anything before the final grade! I got a 94.37% and wrote my essays the night before the conference. He is NOT a tough grader, just follow the rubric he hands our in class.
His lectures are good but he gets way too excited about talking about sex in class (especially "interplanetary sex" aka sex between an alien and a human). Interesting guy, sometimes funny, but overall not pleasant and he took points off for no apparent reason sometimes without commenting.
Be careful. Funny, chill guy... but hard grader.
Took him for intro to sci-fi literature. Probably my favorite class so far. He's super animated and you can tell he enjoys what he does. Exams are easy and straight forward-you don't read, you don't pass.
Very tough grader regarding homework, I would spend a lot of time on my homework and never got full credit. He is good a showing us how to format papers but very harsh grader.
Professor Niner is a good professor, but a very tough grader. He takes off a lot of points for small errors in a paper. However, he gives each student a conference to go over their rough draft and gives very good feedback, and then the final draft is due a couple days later. I got an A on all my papers, but really had to work hard for it.
I would never take professor Niner again. He was a very hard grader, it was so hard to get an A on papers. He made me feel stupid in class and wasn't really a help to me.
Outside of class, he is a very nice guy to talk to, but he grades too hard and isn't clear on what he marks down. I feel it's hard to ask him on how you can improve on your paper because he isn't clear. Make sure you go to the conferences because he will make sure that you will not get points if you don't go!
As long as you read what you are assigned, maybe take a few notes on each short story you will do just fine! Super enjoyable in class. He is very engaging and just overall enthusiastic as a teacher. I enjoyed it and the readings very much.
Very critical about attention in class and gives a good quantity of homework
He judges attendance but there are a lot of classes where you just sit and chat
Professor Niner is amazing. He has a bit of a stutter, but his lectures are interesting. He likes to have good discussions and will give everyone a chance to speak. He respects everyone's opinions and gives thoughtful feedback. Do the readings and you will be FINE. I took the course over summer and loved it.
Professor Niner really enjoys what he teaches. Although literature may be boring, he makes it worth your while. With frequent pop culture films (Black Mirror, Star Trek) it makes class fun. Make sure to read the stories or else class will be difficult. Daily quizzes on stories but if you read them its an easy A. Show up to class and you'll pass.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken, just read the book and do well on the comprehension checks and you'll be fine. There is a midterm (which was very easy if you read the stories given throughout the semester) and a final. Would definitely recommend taking only thing is he really hates phones.
Professor Niner made this course very enjoyable. When I signed up for this class I was unaware the subgenre was science fiction and I almost dropped this class because I had no interest in this. However, he made this course extremely enjoyable and I developed a new love for science fiction. Overall, I personally like him and enjoyed the course.
Overall a really good teacher. Cares about his students and tries his hardest to make sure that we understand what is being asked of us. His feedback is straight forward and really easy to understand. He is a tuff grader but its only tuff when you dont do what is asked if you.
Hilarious and full of deadpan/sarcasm. He will probably make fun of you, but if you relax and be apart of the conversation it is tons of fun. I loved his lectures. He really taught us to question ourselves. I loved that class and I enjoyed him as a prof. I made sure to take him again this next semester.
My favorite Prof my whole Spring 2019 semester! Definitely would recommend. There were about four essays the semester and some small quizzes on textbook writing styles or citing book material. You get 3+ weeks for an essay and 2 weeks of class off per essay to write it! Only con, I've put hours into essays though and received 70's, 80's on drafts.
He made the class so fun! He's an awesome professor and so inspirational.
Thought this class wasn't going to be that hard. I got an A in chemistry but a B in this class, so this class is harder than Cambel's chem class. The quizzes he gives are hard. My advice would be to not stress so hard on your essay and more so on the quizzes and classwork.
He is amazing!! He makes Comp enjoyable and tolerable. Gives good feedback when he reads your essays. Make sure to read textbook, there are quizzes randomly. He can be sarcastic and pick on certain students but that usually means he likes you. He is willing to help and make you a better writer. Really glad I chose him as my first english professor
Professor Niner was funny and nice, but was a hard grader. I took Comp I last semester and received an A+. I just got a B in his class due to tough grading. Considering essays are the majority of your grade, pay attention to every (I mean every) detail before submitting. Do not rush and double check the rubric multiple times. He was an average prof
Professor Niner is such an amazing professor. The class is set up as more of a discussion based and talk it out type with light notes. We do have to do group work discussions and we have readings due every class along with a quiz for each but they are super easy. There are no big essays and only 1 big group project. This class is super interesting
Professor Niner is an amazing professor who is good at his job. I'm finishing Comp I and registered to take him for Comp II. He wants you to understand and uses logic to explain. Class is short lectures, in-class work on paper planning, average amount of small quizzes, no tests. He's hilarious and I appreciate him actually teaching me.
Take his once a week classes. He always lets you leave early. He is great at teaching the material. Super funny guy. Super caring and understanding. Awesome at Teaching the material. Very few grades so attendance MATTERS. Gives amazing feedback on essays. Do the work and youll pass with an A. No final Exam. Just a final essay with more weight
Intro to Literature was my favorite class this past semester. There's a new reading every class, but they're very short stories and super interesting. Every reading has a short quiz, but even if you skim it the answers are super easy. Niner is a great professor and super nice.
This professor was amazing and I enjoyed his lectures. I was worried I was going to be bored in a four-hour writing class but he made it so worthwhile. Assignments may seem difficult but he walks you through them and helps with writer's block which I constantly deal with.
Professor Niner assigns readings for most classes the readings are brief and enjoyable. This class over all is very easy, the biggest assignment is the group project, which he gives you loads of time to do. If you can read you can basically get at least a B in this class, but he is looking for substance and thought in your in class responses.
I loved his class. You can tell he really enjoys teaching it. I took him for science fiction intro to literature. Everything we read was really good too! Definitely recommend.
Professor Niner was super funny and interactive during his online course. The short stories we read were also interesting and there was almost never a dull moment during his class. Totally recommend him and this class, even if you do not like reading.
The class itself is pretty good, Niner is a pretty good lecturer and gives great feedback. Not super work heavy, except for the papers/essays that you're writing (which I would hope is quite normal for a Composition II class).
Loved him, even though I only got an A-. He drops the lowest quiz grade, but you have to take quizzes every class, so skipping class is a terrible idea. Overall good and interesting class/prof.
Professor Niner is entertaining! Online classes can be boring but he tries to make it exciting. Focused the course all on science fiction which he is very passionate about. Have to read a story and take a quiz almost every class. TAKE NOTES on all your stories and definitions he shows youll need them. Overall pretty easy class with a lil effort.
Just do the reading before each class and you can't go wrong. Seems like a cool nerdy dude.
Mr. Niner was a great Comp 2 teacher! You only write a handful of papers throughout the year, and he has some (very small amount) of quizzes and other things to help boost your grade. He gives great feedback and is incredibly timely with responses if you need to reach him. The class was long, but he rarely would he hold us for the entire 3 hours.
Probably one of my favorite professors so far. His class, while online, is always engaging. His selection of stories are varied, and while I think his analysis of them is a bit reaching, they always make you think on a bigger scale. Coming from a bio major, this class reinvigorated my love for lit (likely bec he teaches sci fi) Take him if you can!
Did all my essays the night they're due after getting off work @8pm, I never thought it was a tough class, but if you're simple minded it could be.
One of my favorite professors. I took the course online and the zooms were always engaging and fun to be in. Very passionate about his field and very knowledgeable. Its a literature course so be prepared to read, and he quizzes you on each story but they are very simple. Only 1 course essay we had months to do, and 2 exams throughout the course.
Prof. Niner is a great teacher! He is a very straightforward person and his assignments are pretty easy. He is funny and cares about his students. This class is an easy A if you show up and do the work, I highly recommend.
Took him Fall 2022. MF would cancel class for no reason. Doesn't give clear instructions on assignments. Grades harshly. Barely give work. But when he does, he grades harshly and doesn't give good feedback. If you do bad on 1 essay, you're screwed because there's not going to be a way to improve your grade. Avoid at all costs.
I took his class for enc 1101 and he was great. He doesn't give very many assignments and the ones he does give are pretty simple. You are given feedback and a current standing on your grade for papers and you have the opportunity to fix it before submitting the final draft.
Professor Niner was an amazing professor! I took him for Composition I and he made the class easy and the lectures fun and entertaining. We had a lot of group assignments, and you complete a one-on-one meeting with him after every first draft to review errors and give feedback. Overall, was a really fun class I looked forward to!
Incredible professor. If you can understand the underlying skills he needs you to demonstrate for the essays you should have no problem passing this class with an A. Essay content isn't very important to your grade but he still often cancels class to host one on one meetings that are very friendly, helpful, and personalized. Take this professor!!!!
Absolutely love Professor Niner! Such a inspired soul and love for the class. Always has a joyful attitude so be aware if you're not. His grading points are very clear and gives you plenty of time to write essays. Always has one on one meetings to discuss your essay topics and rough drafts. Almost impossible to fail.
