One of the best ever! You will learn a great deal that is helpful in future courses and in life!
Required class; probably my least favorite subject. Lots of work, but he made it fascinating, thought provoking, and relevant. Highly recommended.
Not my fav subject, but he made it interesting. There is alot of work (quiz every week, small assignment every week, mid term & final) but it's fairly easy. Most testing is from his notes (I never used the book!) He looks like a blonde Harry Potter, lol
Great teacher and great class! I enjoyed this one.
He is really cool and makes the class interesting. He's not an easy professor but i really enjoyed his calss and learned a lot.
Good guy, funny, but hard class
ask as many questions as possible
I took this as a 5-week course (very fast paced)and it really is not as hard as everyone says. there's 5 big projects all together. each has a couple essays(250-400 words each) and a multiple choice. i hate politics and he made the class really really interesting, and very funny! take his class!
Bravo, he did a great job teaching. He’s a good guy, a teacher you will like. Very clear notes, makes it fun, and is an easy class to pass.
pretty good guy for a raging democrat!! fun teacher!
I thought this awesome! take it as a 5 week class... it's fast but eaisy, his notes are very unclear but the 5 projects are fairly eaisy do your work and you'll get a good grade!
Good class. His notes were clear, and the test were taken from the notes. It was kinda hard, but you'll learn a lot from it.
Doable even in a short session. I did learn a lot. Don't bother buying the book, it is always a new edition and they don't take it back. If you challenge him in class, he will hold it against you with prejudice. He will not change his mind or discuss any changes to grades.
Very clear on what he wants. Returns emails within minutes. Always late for class.
Great Prof! NOT AN EASY A. You'll need to work a little for it. VERY INTERESTING! I'm not big on politics, but because of his teaching I took another class. You need to attend class & TAKE NOTES...lots of them! Projects not difficult, but aimed to get you involved. I learned a lot.
way too hard for a 3 credit class, took too much time, not an easy a. take someone else. lectures are good tho. projects consumes your time. gets boring alot, but maybe it's the subject matter.
He is a very nice guy. Makes the class interesting and is very fair grading. Projects are a nice thing for it gives you something other than a test. I would strongly encourage anyone to take him. He is the best POL Sci Teacher in Oakland County

I took his class and his test were very hard, If I would be you I would choose someone else.
Wouldn't reccomend him! He's wishy-washy. Makes you do a partner project and my partner didn't do anything and I told him and he wouldn't help me. He's kind of a jerk, but at least he was funny.
Interesting topics discussed, but unorthidox choice of test methodology. Had students pull cards from a deck to determine which of 10 essays to write. Kinda lame.
DO NOT TAKE!
Makes you write to many papers!! More than English Class. Do not take him.
This teacher is so difficult, what is trying to prove by being this way!!! This class is harder than a Harvard University Organic Chemistry course, why in the world does OCC still have him, they should fire him and get a teacher who is appreciative and understanding of student psychology. DONT TAKE THIS MAN, YOU WILL AT THE MOST GET A D+
WHOEVER SAID DON'T TAKE WAS RIGHT, AND I WILL TELL YOU SOMETHING ALSO, DON'T TAKE!!!
Professor, is much interested in subject matter. I especially enjoyed the "bow tie" day.Great class to sign up for especially for those who enjoy writing.
HORRIBLE!!! so much work, no help at all, and 2 pages for an essay question on tests!!! if you dont have to take him dont!!!
O'Connor is the best OCC teacher for polysci. He gives you the notes to study on blackboard and then goes over them in class. He does have a lot of essays but, he gives the essays to you before the test. Im tired of people rating a good teacher bad because they didnt put effort into the class. This is college not high school. No easy A's in college
Great guy. Funny in a sarcastic way and you know what to expect. The last project forces you to get creative, but he's helpful, esp. one-on-one. I really enjoyed his class and I hate politics. It helps to have a responsive class, so better to take in the afternoon or evening when everyone is awake. :)
To begin with I liked this teacher. He has a very outright way of teaching and there are no hidden questions, at least not really. Notes are available online, but attendence is MANDATORY. Towards the end, however, I found to be a teacher who does not see a student's point of view very well.
I will admit that this was probably the class i have learned the most in since starting at OCC 2 years ago. he is a great professor very straight foward doesn't try to trick you i would take him again if i got the chance. Just do the exactly what he tells you to do and you will do well.
I found this class to be easy except for 1 paper and deciding what to do for community service. I found myself adding words to my paper to reach the 200-400 word limit. Everyone was making jokes throughout the class period which made it a fun laid back environment. You end class 3 weeks early due to the online portion. He takes late work!
No structure to this class at all. Requires to much essay writing and I didn't learn a thing!!!!!!!!!! Do not take him if you want to pass this class!
More then half the class dropped class. Last assignment required me to sign up for a voter registration card, then get someone else to do it within 48 hours, then do something to improve government. Was NEVER clear about anything. Such an easy class but failed because of professor. Can be smug, sarcastic, and unprofessional.
Do not take; I had a solid B, but because I couldn't find anyone not registed to vote, he gave me a WP and refused to change it!
One of the worst classes I have taken at OCC. Their is way too much busy work that he doesnt even grade plus his tests are not easy.
He did give a lot of blackboard homework assignments that technically didn't go toward your grade, however you were able to email him rough drafts of ALL your projects and he would tell you what needed to be fixed to get a A. His tests were ok, not so easy, but not that hard if you studied. It was a time consuming class for a summer class, but doab
Excellent instructor. Demanding but reasonable. Would take again. Lots to do in Spring (shorter format).
I WOULD NOT recommend this professor. Too much busy work that doesn't count UNLESS you don't do it. I agree with the voter registration and 3 hours of volunteer work. Does he think this is the only class we have? Some of us are NOT 18; we have full time jobs, families, etc. Too subjective grading.
I had him for an online class and he was very disorganized. Several of the links he wanted us to follow were not working. He would state things were online and they were not. He compounded the problem by extending deadlines only to make us have several projects due around the same time. I would not recommend his class to anyone.
Horrible class. Tons of busy work that gets you no grade unless you don't do it, then you're marked down. Required 3 hours of "community service" to pass class. He isnt very clear in explaining work to be done, and on top of it all insists on trying to lecture when theres something wrong with his voice and you can't understand a word he's saying.
over half his class ends up withdrawing (or he gives you a WP) - save yourself the effort and take somebody else!
You can never understand what he says because of a speech impediment. You must get a 70 or higher on all 5 projects or you don't pass. One day a week is online and very unclear on what needs to be done. You can email him your paper prior to turning it in for corrections. thats about the only useful thing he does.
Glad it's over!!!
If you can comprehend online articles and write about what you read, you can handle it. It's intense. The summer course is crunched into 6 weeks. It's essay-heavy so if you aren't functionally literate take some ENG classes first! It's not a simple true/false class. The quizzes are multiple choice but the essays have the most points in grading.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS & THIS PROFESSOR. Most horrible professor I have ever seen. YOU WILL WORK YOUR ASS OFF, I am very sure even true politicians might not done this massive amount of work he expects from you. I think he is biased or passionate. He wants you to be ready to run for presidents election. There are 5 projects & min. 3 quizzes
I'm in the first week of his class, and have already written more essays than I did in my entire semester of English! He won't return my emails either. He says we can email him drafts of our papers and he'll give us feedback to get a better grade. I've emailed 3 times asking him to get back to me, and he hasn't replied to any of them. Unorganized..
Very unorganized, gives direction poorly, I took the hybrid class and was frustrated with his seemingly little grasp of the technology needed for an online course. Essays were graded well but his quizzes did not come from the book, in fact I had problems finding the material in the lectures provided.
Yes, it is a lot of writing (I wrote about fifteen short essays total, 250-750 words). This is college. Pros - you can send him rough drafts of essays for feedback ahead of time. Cons - If I hadn't taken the class in an election year finding a place to volunteer would have been a pain, so plan ahead. Prof was always late to class (pet peeve).
I have a job, a life, & many other classes; this being one of them. Please note, this prof knows his stuff, but be prepared to NOT have a life or time for a job or other classes. I made it halfway through and wanted to die. If you don't know much about the class, you're screwed. It's like taking AP college level. Hardest class I've ever had in 3yrs
Horrible, I would suggest not taking this class with this professor, he never responds to emails in a timely manner my project was due by noon today and I emailed him on Sunday and got a response back at 7pm after the project was due. he is completely unorganized he may know what he is talking about but does not know how to teach.
this class was great. a lot of work but worth it. his style is great for a "do it at your own pace" style class. you definitely learn the material. he is very helpful in guiding you on how to get the most out of the class whilst getting a good grade.
Awesome Prof! Very straight forward and helpful. If you put effort into the class you will get a good grade. Sick of people saying he's a bad teacher because they didn't do any work. Would definitely recommend him!
This class was not easy but what do you expect in college. He helped you get the best grade possible. He makes you work and the reward pays off. Good teacher.
means of grading is that you must get at least a 70 on every project to pass the class. Project 5 is rediculous.
Very dry and always favored the dry erase board to eye contact. If you aren't interested in politics, it's like watching paint dry. Boring to listen to (and went off on tangents), boring work and tests with little to no variation. And he's difficult to sometimes understand what he wants so take advantage of his offer to proofread work.
I took his summer course online & I don't understand why everyone is complaining about him. I thought it was extremely easy. He had "class discussion" notes that provided everything that were in the tests I opened the book a few times. There's a lot of essays but they're really easy. Project5 is the only project that is beyond ridiculous but doable
He gives out 4 essays and a quiz for each project which is way to much to the point where you feel like you can't even learn anything you just have to make sure to get it done Way to hard when your taking 2-3 more classes & this one, if an essay isnt perfect he will make you re-do it over and over. This class is rediculous dont pick this teacher!!
He is very smart and knows a lot about political science. However, this is by far the hardest class I've ever taken. A general ed class shouldn't be this difficult. The field work was near impossible and so were the tests and papers. Even though I passed with an A, I worked my butt off and I'm so glad this class is over.
This class is not that hard. He makes you do 3 or 4 essays 250 or 400 words per project. He is not a hard grader. Gets back to emails quickly. He do not make you do work that doesn't count for your grade, all of that is optional.
Took WI 2012 as an 8 wk class w/full course load. It was not THAT bad. Never opened the book. Essays are 250 words, largest 400. Project is not difficult either. I'm a master procrastinator and still managed a B+ (project was late = 70 max points). He is very direct and clear, instructions are spelled out. Follow that and you should be fine.
Just like many of the other comments have stated the course load is too high for a 1500 level course. I prefer regular exams, and this course is 80% essay 20% quiz. I spent a lot more time outside of class then I ever have to complete this course. If you can take another professor I would recommend it.
See what other instructors are teaching this class is my advice. Spent more time on homework (essays) for this class than Calc 3. That should be enough to base your decision. Be prepared it's literally ALL essay work.
This online class was time-consuming but easily manageable if you stick to a strict timetable for completion of essays. Follow the professors guidelines and make sure you cover every point on his outline and you will ace it.
I took his online class and it was okay. The majority of the work is all essays. You write a total of 15 essays. It wasn't difficult, just time consuming. You're required to do some field work and I almost failed this class because I couldn't find anything to do.This is asking for way too much and seemed impossible. He doesn't get to emails quick.
I took his online course. It was a lot of work and time consuming. You wrote 15 essays just in his class alone.
Take someone else!
The worst class I have ever taken. This is only a 3 credit class, yes it was accelerated, yet due to the extreme work load it was harder than all 3 of my other 4 credit classes(Java, Calc3). You're only graded on essays,&a couple of tests. This class is ridiculous&his lessons r from an old semester. I don't think he's into teaching this class.
This class should be 12 credits itself with the amount of work you have to do from this professor. I do not recommend him, especially if you're taking any other class that may require some attention away from this one. I've heard the other POL-1500's are basically in-class discussion only at this campus but this guy assigns crazy amounts of work.
This class is not really that difficult, just SUPER time consuming. Do not take this class if you cannot write essays well. Be sure to always submit the required links or you'll get a 0. You have required field work and the requirements are VERY vague. Overall fairly easy but once again, you write A LOT. 15 essays in 8.5 weeks..
Professor O'Connor has his moments where he can be interesting, but not too often. He's a good guy he just doesn't clarify things very well and it was very confusing and frustrating.
only way you don't succeed is if you do not do the work he offers to look and help with rough drafts and as long as you do the work its easy. I would reccomend
Very hard! I had about 4 essays due each week. I worked on each for about 3 hours and only got a 70 for the weeks project. I couldn't do the last project because i was out of state for work and i asked if i could do a big essay instead but no i failed. If you takes this class make sure you have ALOT of time for homework like around 15 hours a week.
This class is very informative. It was 4 projects and each project involved 3 or 4 essays and multiple choice exam. He lets you submit the essays early and he gives you feedback. he's very helpful and knows what he's talking about. He's a great professor. If you need American Government, I highly recommend this professor!
DO THE READING AND PROJECTS AHEAD OF TIME and you are all set. 4 projects and each project involved 3 or 4 essays and multiple choice exam. Submit essays early as he gives you feedback if you need to fix for full marks. He's very helpful & knows what he's talking about. He's a great professor, funny, I highly recommend this professor!
The essays do take a considerable amount of time, but if you work early and get feedback, you can basically get 100% on half your project. For the quizzes, make sure you read the textbook thoroughly. Some questions are tricky. Also make sure you can do some kind of field work with a signature from an organization. Overall, I liked the class.
Be sure to turn in your work on time!!! I misread the D2L due date for my final project and turned it in 5 days before that date. Unfortunately, the actual due date was earlier and I missed it by a day. All of my "A" effort was erased and I ended up with a "B". My pleas for flexibility were ignored despite my track record. Be forewarned...
Was very opinionated, would not lend a hand towards to completion of ANY assignments. Final project is ridiculous, and can be construed as an invasion of privacy due to the REQUIRED submission of voters card. Field work requirements are highly un-reasonable. DO NOT TAKE ONLINE
showed the work load to professor of POL at a university because I needed help. His thoughts "the assignments are stupid, especially the final project & the workload is double what it should be for a 3 credit class, drop it and take it with someone else" The syllabus is a novel & instructions are clear as mud.
Insane amount of homework for this level class in a Community College setting. Quizzes use absurd questions that have nothing to do with the MAJOR concepts of the book. Might as well toss the textbook - it wont help......
I took the course online. He gets back to you about 24 hours later. I had an issue with an assignment and had to email him 4 time stating the same problem and got no solution from him. Very time consuming and dated information, but reasonably easy.
If you are good at writing this is a good, easy class to take online. Homework for a 2 week period is 4 of essays with a 250-500 word minimum for each essay. However, if you email him a rough draft he will give you suggestions and corrections. Quizzes were the only thing I found semi-difficult about this class. You will need to study for them!
He is a great teacher. For a political science teacher, he is very unbiased. The class however was a little tough but if you are good at writing essays, you will get an A. He is very clear and his lectures are interesting. He also has an interesting sense of humor.
This instructor is brilliant. His lectures are interesting and were what I looked forward to each week. The man knows what he is talking about, and if you take the class seriously, you will learn a LOT about our political process! Be prepared to work. There are several projects and you will have to do a field work assignment. 1010!
Took the online class and it's all essays. Literally every assignment is 2-3 essays with 250 or 400 word minimums, plus a short multiple choice test at the end. The requirements are not hard, but the essays can be extremely time consuming to write. All the information you need can be googled or is presented in his notes; don't buy the book.
I took online. Far too much homework for what should be an easy class. He also wants you to do field work. Even if he only says 3 hours, it's hard to find time if you're as busy as I am. He is not helpful and sometimes just doesn't answer e-mails. If you don't want to register to vote, he gives you more field hours instead. Infuriating and a waste.
I tried to work slightly ahead of things so I didn't fall behind. What did that give me? Not a thing. In fact I got a 0 on a project because he updated the project page after I already turned it in. I'm a straight A student and should have just dropped the class and took it with someone else because I had such an issue. Don't bother with the book.
The field work project was lame but other than that easy
Who ever says this prof is good, HA!!!! Ridiculous amount of work for an online class. Mandatory volunteer work, tons of essays due each week. I worked super hard on the essays, and never managed over an 80%. I absolutely do not suggest taking his online class. Maybe he is better in person but I don't know. Avoid if at all costs if you can!!!!!!!!!
The amount of online homework is crazy! Avoid this class.
Prof. O'Connor gives plenty of material to help prepare you for assignments. This class requires a lot of writing, volunteer work, and organization. I received a B out of the class ONLY because I neglected to take 2 of the short exams after each assignment. He responded to emails in a timely manner, and he was helpful. The practice assignments help
Professor was extremely unhelpful and showed complete disregard for questions emailed to him during his online class.
I took his online class and I HATED it. NOTHING was clear and it was so difficult. POL1510 is a requirement to Graduate OCC, So I signed up for a class without a specified instructor. He walked in the first day and my heart sunk. HOWEVER, he turned out to be an awesome inclass teacher. DO the readings, and specifically answer his bullet points.
I made the mistake of taking his online class. Vague, poorly worded and improper requirements for formatting/citing. His "notes" are muddled with personal views trying to pass them off as facts. Quizzes are victim to this along with including material not covered in the textbook. Ruined my 4.0 due to his mistake and refused to change it. AVOID.
O'connor was one of the HARDEST teachers I have ever had. I took this class since its required to graduate. If I would have seen these reviews I would have taken him in class or better yet with another teacher. I dont recommend the online class at all! It will ruin your GPA. He was very unclear and vague with his "notes" and comments. UGH
This professor is absolutely AWFUL. i took his online class and barley passed. I didn't mind the millions of essays you have to write, however he is extremely vague in what he expects from you and if you don't have even one part of the verification from the field work you fail the class no matter what you essay and test scores were.
My first language is not English and I am not in essay but I just follow what he was asking for the essays and got A in this course. he is very quick in responding emails. The only thing is the essays take alot of time but very easy to get the whole points. many extra credits. no need to buy the book. Easy course overall but time consuming on essay
I loved Mr. O'Connor. He really knows what he's talking about in his field. There were 4 projects, each consisting of 3-4 essays but they were overall not hard to do. Very clear on what he's looking for when he grades. Lectures are frequent but not boring; he makes jokes during them. He's funny and a great guy, very friendly and a great teacher.
Great professor and he does not cuss like someone else said. If your willing to learn, you will learn. True engineering teacher, teaches what is useful and will expand your brain to learn new concepts and apply them.
I really enjoyed this professor. He really loves what he teaches and its obvious, if you go to the lecture you will have no problem with this course! I was not looking forward to this class however this professor made the class very understandable. Yes, there are a lot of papers however most are 250 words and always exactly what we learned in class
He's a great teacher, and you can really tell that he is passionate about what he teaches. You do have to write quite a few essays which are short though, and their majority of your grade, the quizzes are a little tricky & the essays can be very time consuming if you work, but overall it was a great class & I really did learn a lot from it.
I DONT suggest him at all! He makes you write around 4 essays each project. He makes it seem like they are easy (250 word essay) but he lists so many requirements you have to mention in the essay to where it comes to multiple pages! He is not helpful when you email him also. I would DEFINITELY choose a different professor! I regret taking his class
Had a blast in his class. If you do the projects, you will pass.
When I say so many papers, thats an understatement. O'connor requires two essays a week. Each of those has a minimum requirement of 200 words however, he requires way too much of each essay. Every essay of mine was greater than 750+ words and I barely got an A. Plus two quizzes each week that were very tough. This class is very difficult
This one online class gave me more work than taking six standard classes last semester. Cancel every obligation you have for as long as this class runs because you won't have time to see family, friends, or work. Horrible. Never again.
Very unorganized and gives tons of work with unrealistic deadlines. Essays and discussions are always due at "noon".
Dr. O'Connor was one of the hardest professors I've ever had. There's a quiz at the beginning of every class which is hard. There is also a long essay each week due, and 2 informational responses each week. Political Sci. shouldn't be a difficult class, so I would recommend any other professor than him. Great guy, but I would avoid his class.
This has been the hardest course i've ever taken. I tried my utmost hardest studying 4 hours every night and still haven't had a chance of getting an A. If you value your money, i would most definitely stay from Dr. O'Connor. He seems to favorite each student who walks thorugh his class and shows a complete disregard for fairness in the classrom
Essay every week, don't worry just answer the questions he tells you to and follow the grading criteria. You just need to be willing to put in the time an effort to get that A. Use your notes to study for the quizzes every week, I never used the book. Quizzes were hard but if I failed 1/2 of them and got an A, then you can pass this class too:)
Prof is SO funny and kind! His class was very enjoyable. Every week there is a quiz about last week, there's a weekly discussion post and response and weekly paper. So yes, a bit of homework but it's all simple enough and easy to get an A on everything. If you do well all year, you can skip the last 2 papers and final, honestly, amazing. LOVE HIM!
Quizzes every week on the material learned in class the last week. I failed like all of them and still passed the class. Just take notes and study those, I never used the textbook. Also, weekly discussion posts and you also need to respond to someone else's. And essays weekly just answer his Q's and you'll do good. Just follow his grading criteria
So hard trying to take this class. Hes a tough grader.
Isn't willing to work with his students. He is one of those professors that just shows up to class; teaches, and then couldn't care less once the clock has rung. I would suggest taking anyone else because it was made abundantly clear that hes here for a paycheck and thats about it.
I cannot stand this guy. I don't normally do this, but this guy is just different. He is the most distant professor I've ever had. Never answered questions, vague in directions, hard grader, inconsiderate, and didn't even care enough to check his grammatical errors. I hope his paycheck was worth it. Don't take any of his classes. Never again!!
I really enjoyed Dr. O'Connor's take on Government and the current issues of the day. The class was always enjoyable.
Signed up for the class since it stated it would be a zoom class format, but turned out to be online only. Although he may have been a good professor BC (Before Covid), he was probably one of the worst professors I have taken so far. Don't take if you want to learn... I still don't know the difference between a democrat and a republican (8Weeks in)
10/10 easy easy easy A
Assignments were posted every Monday. There would be 3 each week an essay, quiz, and discussion post. He wanted the discussion post turned in each Wednesday it's difficult when you work a full time job and can't get on to do school work until the weekends. It also takes an extremely long time for essays to be graded and given back.
I don't like to write bad reviews however this guy was the worst professor. Every week we were given 2 essays, 2 discussions, and 2 quizzes. The quizzes were nearly impossible and he doesn't tell you how to study for them. Really rude as well if you try to email him for things. I got a good grade because I tried my best but still really difficult.
The class is all online. Every week you have to do a quiz (7 questions) an essay on the selected chapter, and a discussion post. He says he checks his email every day at 11am. He does not email back unless it's within an hour after 11am. He is not very accessible when it comes to emails and help. His feedback on the essays are not great or detailed
I would never sign up for a class with this professor EVER again. He ruined my GPA over minor mistakes. The smallest mistakes in his class result in a 0 for a grade dropping your grade drastically. He is harsh and unreasonable. When you ask for more feedback you never will hear back from him. No opportunity to fix things either.
Easily one of the biggest jerks I've ever met in my life. Especially for a professor. I understand the need to come off as stern and orderly at a community college, but this dude is the most unforgiving prof I've ever had. I hope he's better to his in person students, because for the online sections he is of zero help and very rude in his emails
He is very arrogant. I you have question, he will ask you to read the syllabus and that is it. Tons and tons of homework. He is not helpfull in any way.
Worst professor has no sympathy with students, is not understanding, gives out tons of work I would not recommend taking his class he makes you feel like a failure.
Make sure to indent your paragraphs when you write essays or he'll give you a zero. He is very strict with his grading and I don't really understand why. He always answers emails in a rude manner which makes you not want to ask questions at all. You have a discussion, essay, and quiz every week. The class itself wasn't hard
Borderline deluional Be prepared to take 2 quizzes, write 2 essays, and be VERY invloved in 2 discussions... every week. If you mispell words, format a paragraph wrong, ect you will get a 0. Non-negatioable. No EC but if you turn in rough drafts of your essays weekly to get his feedback he considers it worth it. DONT DO HIS CLASS unless its ur only
He is the worst professor that I had so far. It looks like he copy paste the lecture from his previous class, it does not matter whether you buy the textbook or not. The textbook he chose it also shows bias, though he is bias too but it subtle. It's not a politic class, it's a writing class. 2 discussions, 2 essays with ridiculous points every week
This professor's approach is extremely rigid, cutting substantial points for minor spelling errors Most students advise avoiding unless your only choice. One-shot quizzes lack feedback; a single misspelling, a 9/10 with no explanations. Absence of feedback hampers learning. I rate this professor negatively based on these concerns.

Professor O'Connor is a very rude and heartless professor. He takes every opportunity to criticize/berate students, and is a terrible human. This is what happens when a failed wannabe politician takes the reigns and it shows in the quality. Save your money and heart, go to a different professor.
each week we have an essay a quiz and a discussion post. He always gives you a week to complete all three his quizzes are very simple but his essays one minor mistake and you get a zero. In the essays for example, he would ask your opinion on a situation, if he doesn't agree zero. THREE TO ZERO WORD FEEDBACKS
Anyone who says this class is hard might be braindead. Large curve, extra credit make it impossible to fail. His feedback IS weak. You'll be fine if you're careful to meet all requirements on every assignment. Maybe he's too harsh on people with average writing/grammar skills? Maybe get Grammarly. $12/month to save you from failing and losing $400!
Professor O'Connor runs a tough class, but if you stay on top of the assignments and use resources like unstuck ai, you can succeed. He's direct, but the material is manageable.
dated and oddly worded essay promts. no room for minor errors on essays. only get one chance with everything.
Super strict grading policy. Failed me on an essay because the reference I provided “sent me to a paywall” when all he had to do was click X on an optional subscription for the website and then boom the entire article is there to read for free.
He is probably a good person, but he sucks at teaching. The work is easy, but the way he explains the material is not that good. The feedback he gives also could be better than three-word answers. He does not respond to emails at 11 am like he said in the syllabus. Overall easy class, but a rough professor.
Professor O'Connor seems polite enough, but he's one of those teachers who never seems very engaged/interested in interacting. He also failed me on an assignment that I could swear I did exactly as instructed after almost a full semester of nothing objectionable. While I don't absolutely hate him, I wouldn't take his class again given the option.
O'Connor is a real jerk, guy is just there to collect a paycheck. Any real question, all you get a sarcastic tone and arrogant attitude. I would hope OCC would catch on and fire this guy.
