honestly, worst teacher EVER. stutters like no other and goes off on these tangents about how NOT to do a problem, and you cant even remember what he is even talking about. heed my advice, just say no!
Best Math Teacher! He is truely enthusiastic about the subject and is not afraid to go over the same material until everyone understands. If one way of solving the problem is not "clicking" with the class he attempts another way. Great Math clas
the worst teacher ive ever had, and ive had many. i was a straight a student until i took this course. he goes off on these tangents, stutters on every word goes extremely fast, doesn't explain processes, and dont ask him questions response=20 min
Professor is very self-enthusiastic about subject, but does not get the class motivated. Knowledgeable of subject, but has difficult time communicating to class.
Patrick has a far ranging intelect and great command of of his subject matter. He takes the time to answer all of our questions. He expects us to spend 15 hrs. a week on our homework for the class. His tests are killing us. He should be teaching the honors section.
He understands his subject very well, however he does not know what a reasonable test is. He issues the hardest problems imaginable for what he teaches.
Great Teacheer!!! Even spends time explaining after class if necessary. However, his tests are KILLER!! Lectures are rushed and not everything is covered. Must read chapter to cover everything. Homework is minimum 15+ hours per week. Great teacher for Honors Program!!!
If you were planning on taking this course.. DON'T!!! his tests are rediculous!! this is not just from me but everyone in his class. Our passing rate is less than 15%. Plan on spending 14+ hours a week. He suggests this to be equivalent to a "Part-Time Job". Takes off points for everything on test

Everything they say is TRUE. Absolutely horrible teacher (even though he tries, but he tries too hard.) He expects us all to have it as hard as he did and for us to know the subject matter top to bottom and how to DO COMBINED PROBLEMS FOR THE TEST. THEY WERN'T EVEN IN THE HOMEWORK FOR HEAVENS SAKE
Don't sit up front unless you want to get sick.
He is willing to work with you until you understand! He sends practice tests out at least a week before the exam which are VERY similar to the actual test! I would recommend him for this class!
Extremely hard material, but prof is willing to help. He answers lots of questions and sends out practice tests with answers before test. Grades on a Curve. Final is culmative and hard. 4 tests total.
His tests suck...He moves so fast on homework assignments that you can barely keep your head above water. He is very smart and very willing to help with problems and questions. He only gives you 1 hour to take test and then collects the tests. How can we take a test in 1 hour and do well? If you want to pass dont take this teacher.
This guy should not teach math. He is smart but teaches too fast and does not give credit for useing LAP lab or for putting forth an effort. His teaching methods are confusing. he stutters. And what's with the glove???? It makes me nervous.
I had summer class and think he was fair. The work is hard though. He didn't grade homework. Gave quizes for extra credit. He's helpful if you ask but he has a hard time stopping. Takes time after class to help if he's got it. Tests himself. Only complaint is that there is too little time on test but I think that's close enough to school standards.
He is not the easiest math teacher, but is helpful and understanding. He is a little sporadic in lectures and hard to follow, at least he was for me. He does give out practice tests, but they don't really cover what is on the actual test. He is a very smart man, but dry in his teaching methods.

He makes hard concepts as easy to understand as possible. If you have a question he won't hesitate to work it out for you. Real nice guy.
Mr. Quiqley is makes you earn your grade and is a fair teacher. He's pretty difficult and he cares more about your knowing the material than turning in your homework. He lets you drop your worst test to help your over all grade. He's tough but fair.
I'll put it this way: 1/3 of my class didn't show up for the final (meaning an automatic D or F) because it was hopeless for them. While I did ok, I still wouldn't recommend him. He is not at all understanding. He made a girl in my class choose between attending her grandfather's funeral and taking a test (he refused to give her a makeup exam).
every student (6) that I spoke too after taking the test told me they failed it..Tricky test, and no home work graded so if you know your**** and dont care to do home work hes good but if not dont take the class. My second time with him and both times I dropped. I will try a different teacher!!
I did okay but only because I pick up math easily... I thought he was a teriable teacher and his test's were rediculous, The class Started out with 30 students and there were only six at the final... I received the highest grade in the class with a B.
I feel he is a horriable teacher. Makes tons of mistakes and grades too hard. Homework count as nothing but it is a requirement. Talks forever about random things and makes class very boring!! Don't take this class!
Without a doubt, he is the worst teacher I have ever had! He talks about the most random stuff, his tests are impossible, he wears a glove while teaching, and the persistant tone of his voice makes you want to kill yourself. Do not take him.
Very bright guy but not a very good teacher. He goes off on these stupid little stories that have nothing to do with math. His tests are very hard and he grades them very hard. I'm fairly good at math but get C's on his tests. If you want a good grade don't take him but at least this class doesn't transfer so as long as you pass your ok.
too difficult to understand, unhelpful, and confusing!
As a person he is very smart, like a genuis but he just can't teach. He has a horrible studdering problem which makes it hard for students to understand him. He goes on random tangents. His tests are super hard and his class is super boring. Oh ya and he wears one latex glove.
Nice guy but fricking hard! He needs to understand that not everyone taking Algebra is a math/science major! Art majors have to take this stuff too! He skipped steps on the board, went to fast, taught on the first day of class, etc. I didnt mind the off topic convo and clearly he is really smart. Too smart to teach a basic math class to people who
DO NOT TAKE STATS DURING SUMMER SEMESTER ESPECIALLY WITH QUIGLEY. SADDLEBACK IN GENERAL HAS HORRIBLE TUTORING HELP DURING THE SUMMER SEMESTER SO YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN. UNLESS YOUR A MATH MAJOR..GOOD LUCK!
The summer course moves very fast, test every week but drops the lowest test grade. Class grade comes only from the tests. Homework must be turned in but is worth no points. The latex glove thing is because he's allergic to chalk. He does stutter and go off on tangents, pay attention to the material and study.
I missed a test 'cause I was hospitalized. I missed a few quizzes as I had to meet with a shrink on Thursdays, and didn't make it to class. I explained that I suffered from depression, this was the only course I needed and he still gave a D, despite the fact I could furnish homework to prove understanding material. He lacks compassion and wont help
sorry but i hated this class..i was always good at math and then came this class where i never understand a thing even after all the notes! He teaches you each type of problem a different way: the hard way, the easy way, and the medium way and everyone got confused! if i were you i would stay far away from this class..dont waste your time
I usually don't complain about the teachers, cause I had never had problems before. This guy is nuts.I've read comments about him but I did not pay attention, because usually students don't like math teachers...I should have NOT taken him.Seems to be easy and fair, but exams are tricky and for minor mistakes you may lose 5-10 pts (!!!) out of the 100.
He is a great teacher. I took stats with another teacher last semester and they were horrible I failed. He has totally made stats easier and actually teaches and explains the stuff not just repeats whats already in the book. there are 6 tests(all super easy) and one final. He drops the lowest test score. He is the best math teacher I've had.
Wow. This guy is tough. There really is no getting around it, for math 8 he really expects the best. But, in all fairness he was very helpful, and he drops the lowest test score. But beware, you cant use graphing calculators in this class, so that might be a shocker to some. If you're up for a good challenge, hes your man.
I thought this teacher was going to be easy but his tests are REALLY hard. You really have to do ALL the hw to understand his tests. The good thing is that he curves every test including the final and drops your lowest test. Even adds points to your grade at the end. Take him if you're willing to work and come to every class. I ended up with an A
Quigley is a very clear and straightforward professor. I hadn't taken a math class in ten years until i took statistics, and he made every topic and concept very understandable to me, even though i'm a humanities student. Very highly recommended. Note that Quigley's tests are actually EASY, as they are equal to the easiest homework problems.
wow, reading these comments makes me laugh. This teacher is clear and easy. Instead of figuring the teacher out and the material, try to figure yourselves out and find out what the best study habits are for you. Dont blame good teachers for your lack of self understanding.
His class will be hard if you don't do your homework. People who complain not passing just didn't show up or didn't put enough time studying. You have to work for your grade in this class. I got an A because I showed up every single day and did all the homework and ASKED questions. He curves your grade so there is no reason not to pass his class.
I hate math. This class was really challenging for me. Because I talked to him after class often and asked for help He came through. the formulas are provided on the test and for the final you can write whatever on a eight by eleven. Absolutly take this teacher.
I hate writing this because he is such a nice guy at heart, just no good teaching skills. Has no concept of putting theories into words. Also has a bad tendency to ramble incessantly if you ask the most minor question. I suggest international students to refrain from taking his class, even as a native I could hardly understand what he was saying.
You have to put an effort into this class, its not a come when you feel like it and maybe do the hw. On the tests theres 1 qest. from each ch. with 1 mistake the whole problem derails and you get alot of points off. do the homework and study and you;; be fine
Really nice guy, absolutely terrible professor. Thankfully, he doesn't vary much from the textbook and that's clear as day. His tests are hard but everything is curved so there's no excuse not to pass. Go to class, do homework, and get the book's answer book; it'll save your grade.
IF YOU LIKE TO TEACH YOURSELF BASICALLY EVERYTHING, TAKE THIS CLASS. QUIGLEY IS A NICE GUY, BUT DEFINITELY NEEDS PEOPLE SKILLS AND ASSIGNS HOMEWORK THAT YOU DONT EVEN NEED TO KNOW. IF YOU GO OVER THE PRACTICE EXAMS HE HAS AND KNOW THAT, THEN YOU WILL ACE THE EXAMS. ALL OF THEM. BUT, YOU WILL BE SCREWED ON THE FINAL
I had taken few math classes before, but this one was the easiest to understand. This guy has been teaching math for ages and he truly loves doing it. If you wanna take a college level math at all, take his.
He is super passionate about Math. He speaks very loud and very fast and answers questions for a long time (sometimes 3 simple questions will take 30 min to answer). BEST ADVICE: All his sample exams look 98% like the exams you will take (same questions just different numbers). Study the exams thoroughly and you will get a good grade!
He's a decent enough teach, the first few tests are easy enough but later on it gets pretty hard if you don't keep up with the work. Really clear, really passionate decent overall
I have had several math classes with a dozen math teachers, and this guy is one of the best! Very sharp! Will gladly help you out. Just like any other class, you gotta study! Some exams are curved, you might run out of time taking the final! When u have extra time after finishing an exam, >>CHECK YOUR ANSWERS!<< I got an A, so its possible, folks!
this guy is the best teacher at saddleback. he talks a bit fast but has no problem answering questions or repeating himself. if you still dont understand he may even teach you an alternative way to solve a problem. he wants you to succeed in the class. dont be shy, speak up and ask questions. he LOVES them. homework is a MUST, like any math class.
If you read the book and do the practice exams, you will do fine. Ask any question and he will have an answer. Really smart in economics, if you need help.
This guy may help out a little too much. He goes off on wild tangents that seem to cone together at the very end. Use the practice tests and get a good grade. An "a" is easily attainable with a little effort.
He is a true teacher who understands and cares about student psych (math anxiety etc...). If math confidence is an issue, He is your best choice for algebra and statistics. Strong in Physics, Econ. and Calculus. Available and willing to answer questions. Lenient in his grading, as long you show effort (Homework, etc...). Strongly recommended.
I love this guy...he is a great teacher. Use the study guides on his website and you will get an A. The homework is optional, only helps if you are close to the next grade, and he drops your lowest test. I never even used the book. Take this class!
This guy is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He wants you to succeed and makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. He supplies practice tests online before taking the test & they are identical to the exam, just different numbers. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!
Really good teacher . I got A in every tests not trying really hard for his class . homework are not mandatory but it will be as insurance in your final grade , overall i would recommend him for everyone who wants to take stats or college algebra
He is not for all students! He does curve the tests but it is misleading! The tests start out easy and after the drop date they get very difficult! He is a good guy and means well, but isn't for everyone.
Excellent Professor! Explains the concepts very clearly and completely.
Really likes teaching Stats. However... not an easy class. Don't know how he grades things because my friend got an A in the class and she did as much work as I did and I failed.
He is so dorky, it's adorable! Very passionate about stats, makes sure everyone understands before moving on. EASY. His practice exams are exactly the same as the test, but with different numbers. Take him!!
VERY easy professor. Cliffs: He takes attendance, homework not mandatory or part of grade, lowest exam score dropped, practice exams are identical to actual exams and are very easy. I never did any of the homework or even touched the book and aced the exams. He's into the subject, but he might not be right if you want an in-depth experience.
Great Teacher ! He puts practice exams online, which really help. I thought I bombed my third test and asked to talk with him after class. Not only did he talk with me he pulled my test out right there and looked it over with me. I had gotten a B. Put me at ease. That should tell you what kind of teacher He is. Highly Recommended !
Man loves his profession, and it translates to good teaching. Keeps things interesting! 4 exams and a final, and he drops lowest exam. No HW graded. Curves occasionally depending on how class did. Wish he taught other classes I need! Practice Exams are pretty much the exams, SO PRACTICE THEM if you want an automatic A
Took him for Math 8 summer. 3 tests, he drops lowest of the three. Practice exams online VERY helpful. An "A" is doable, you have do the homework, practice the exams. Goes on random tangents sometimes but very smart guy, you can tell he LOVES math. Very reasonable with class structure, not hard to pass, but an "A" is attainable if you put in work
such a nice guy, who loves math and give his students many resources. Stats is intimidating but if you show up for class, pay attention, do the homework and do the practice exams (that look just like the actual exams themselves) you'll get an A or B. highly recommend this professor! :]
Super nice teacher. Provides practice exams and equations for all tests and drops your lowest score. No reason why you shouldn't get an A. :)
Super nice and helpful but rambles on about the same problem for what seems like an eternity. He talks very fast but he genuinely cares about his students. Curves all tests, drops lowest trade and curves the class as a whole. Not an easy A but if you put in work its possible.
Quigley is an excellent professor! Posts all practice tests with solutions online and they are EXACTLY the test but the numbers switched. Show up to class, do hw for practice, and do the practice tests and there should be no problem getting a B or higher.
The class is supper boring. Hard if your not good at math because he does all the problems. Their is no check your work with a partner or tAlking in class. I did not buy the book or do the homework and got an A. but unless ur good at math I would not say its an easy A. He is great at explaining things in his office hours. His class hard&boring
He really loves math. Definitely should attend all classes you do not wanna get left behind because it will make no sense later. Kind of boring, also takes too long on some problems. I wish i wouldve chosen a different teacher
He is the worst math teacher I've ever gotten. He rambles on and on about something related to math but not related to the chapter we're on. He grades harsh with no extra credit. He does provide study guide and just study the heck out of it to get a good grade. NOT RECOMMENDED
He does talk an awful lot and over-explains everything. I found this trait though very useful toward the end of the semester when the math became more challenging. He grades on a huge curve. Do the homework and show up, you'll do fine. I expect to end the semester with a B but grades have not posted.
I found him to be very clear with his lessons. He does get distracted sometimes, but it tends to be relevant to student questions. He does a lot of examples on the board, which are great for notes. Exams are very easy if you do the study guide, as they are almost the same. Textbook is a must or you cannot pass. I would definitely recommend.
These reviews for him are garbage. Honestly, if you take his class and don't do well you're an idiot. He posts practice exams (Along with the solutions) that are painfully similar to the test. You can just memorize the way he does the problems! Very nice guy too, he will help you whenever he is available. Take him, and don't slack. Do work and ez A
Prof Quigley is by far THE BEST math teacher I have ever had. I have always struggled in math classes my entire life, but after taking his math 10 course, I not only can do math well, but I actually enjoy the subject. This teacher made me enjoy math for the first time. Take him, he is definitely worth it.
Prof Quigley is excited about math, to say the least. He is clear, almost too clear (he repeats a lot but is really upbeat). Will help you if you have questions but is a pretty tough grader. Super nice, laughs at his own jokes, would take another math class from him again! DO THE HOMEWORK
Great guy, interesting class. Somewhat confusing at times, just ask Q's/go to office hours, he's great at helping...BUT, give yourself about 30min buffer time whenever you go to talk to him cause he lovvves to talk about math..you'll see. Anyways, its trig...study hard (mostly consistently), be careful not to fall behind, and study some more.
I like his style of teaching and he is able to get his students to look at math differently than they may have before. The only problem is that he is very unforgiving with his test grading. Get one tiny mental mistake and he will mark you 95% off on that problem. This tends to outweigh even the largest of curves.
I love math and this class was great! This teacher is extremely helpful and nice! He wants everyone to succeed. If you are on the edge of a grade and you've done your homework, he will bump you up to the next grade. I took this class over the summer so it was a little fast-paced but I still managed a B. Just pay attention!
Clear on what to expect. Do your homework if you want a bumper to raise your B+ to an A-. Study with the practice tests he uploads, almost identical to his exams. A bit boring with his lectures and I get nothing from them, but he's a great teacher.
Great Professor! Very helpful. Exams are very similar to practice exams.
An awesome teacher willing to help you out with any questions you have. The class isn't a breeze and you have to work hard at it, like any class. Your grade in the class is based off of the exams, which there is 6 including the final. The homework is used to curve your grade at the end of the semester depending on how much of it you've done.
This class a breeze. There are 6 exams, and he drops one at the end of the semester. The final is cumulative 200pts. He allows front n back cheat sheet for it. Prac exams just like the exams. Only complaint- he didn't give the entire class chap 12 that was missing from the book if you didn't buy Saddleback's version, which was bs.
Very helpful individual! Always willing to work on something until you understand what you've done wrong! Very easy test-taking, and homework isn't mandatory (but it helps if you want an A)
he is great makes everything so clear baffled his rating isn't higher, curves all exams about 15-20 points
This is not an easy class!! First time I took it I failed it, but it was with a different professor. Quigley is awesome!!! Very clear and helpful!! I spent a lot of my time in the tutoring center but it was worth it. Tests are not too bad. TAKE QUIGLEY!!!
Profesor Quigley is a great teacher that really wants his students to learn and pass the class. He is very exited to teach and makes the material easy to understand. His practice test really help you get prepared for the actual test. He also has his office hours in the LRC, which is pretty nice.
First off, this guy needs to be rated higher on here. Where to start with positives, posts online practice tests (nearly identical to exams), curves exams, drops lowest exam score, homework is optionalextra credit, explains math very clearly in lectures (so easy to understand), nice guy, very helpful, best math teacher I had at Saddleback.
He lectures the whole two hours. Goes on tangents, got behind. Gives practice tests. Takes whole points off if miss one thing on problem. He seems to really love math, but the tests were hard. I did HW, but last minute. Says he puts simple easy problems, but they are hard sometimes. Each problem worth a lot of points, easy to get bad grade.
Tests are super easy, he gives a practice test online that you can take and its almost exactly like the test. Tests are one question per item you learned, so maybe 3-5 questions. He will be happy to walk you through anything you're confused on. Homework is not mandatory. Only makes you learn what you need, doesn't get you confused on concepts.
Quigley thoroughly enjoys mathematics. His passion and knowledge for the subject made his class more enjoyable and I learned a lot by the semester's end. He is somewhat difficult, but is fair to his students and wants to see everyone succeed. Quigley won't humiliate his students like Kia Shafe to entertain his class. Take patrick!!!
Quigley is a great professor. He gives out practices tests extremely similar to the actual tests. His lectures are clear, and he always answers any questions before he starts the next lecture. He curves tests based on your homework, and is there to help students pass his class.
Really boring, but if you get math its an easy A. Homework is optional but he will bump up your grade if your borderline if you did the homework. One of your tests is dropped and the final is NOT cumulative. I had no trouble getting an A.
Great teacher! He really cares about the students and is always available to help. Will spend as much time as necessary to help you understand. Explains things so you understand them. He's a very patient teacher that cares about his students and makes sure everyone understand the material.
He is very nice professor, explain all the subjects in a very particular way. every class is important since math goes really fast. first exam is very easy, he grades the best 2 out of 3 exams. homework is not required but is VERY HELPFUL, i would not pass without doing it. If you have any trouble go to his office hours really helpful.
Quigley is an amazing teacher in statistics. Prior to taking his class, I took statistics with another teacher and had to drop it because I was failing. First test in Quigley's class I got a 100%. His lectures feel as if they are really long and occasionally boring, however they are clear and helpful. Tests are exactly like the practice test.
This is the first time I've ever written a review on a professor, but I just really feel like this guy deserves one. You can tell he is SO passionate about what he does. He really cares about his students and is the type of professor that will be happy to stay an hour after he's supposed to go home just to help you. Would definitely take him again.
Professor Quigley is nice and wants his students to pass. He curves his exams and can bump up your grade by a lot. I reccomend taking him if his teaching style works for you. Sloppy with "math language" and presenting information.
Professor Quigley is AMAZING. He is RIDE OR DIE. He is so passionate and he does not care if you ask the most dumb question cause he will make sure to answer so you understand the material perfectly. He does assign hw but it is not mandatory. I hate and suck at math and I love his class so that should say a lot.
His heart is in the right place and you can tell that he really loves math but he often trails off in tangents. I am very good at math but, if I wasn't, I would have been really confused by his lectures. The class drags on and on and he doesn't make it very enjoyable. Pretty good for a math teacher
Stats is a very difficult subject to teach and grasp, but Professor Quigley makes it enjoyable. He's very goofy and always has a smile on his face. A little unorganized and usually takes a while to get your test grade back and rarely uses Blackboard. Your grade is solely based on your test scores. I definitely would recommend this class!
The math is the hard part, however Professor Quigley helps you learn. If you pay attention in his lectures, and do the homework, you will pass his tests. His tests are basically from the practice test handout except with different numbers. Besides Professor Perez, Professor Quigley is a good professor too.
Very passionate about what he does. If you need any help with Math, Physics, or Comp. Science he will help you. Very insightful and caring guy who would stay after class forever to help if he could. Homework is optional, Practice tests are key and it's a math class so attendance is important. If you take the time to know him, you'll love him!
One of the best professors I have ever taken. If you don't pass this class it's because you weren't trying hard enough and I wasn't good at math for most of my life. He helps a lot, he is a fast talker but you get used to it after the second lecture. Work hard or fail, like anything in life. Amazing professor and human being.
Professor Quigley is a great teacher and is definitely passionate about math which is what I needed! I've been out of school for 30 years and was scared to death about learning algebra again. To my surprise, it was easier then I thought and Professor Quigley went over the problems thoroughly so we understood. I would recommend him! 2 Thumbs up!
Grade in class solely relies on test grade. He offers practice tests but his lectures are scattered and it is difficult to comprehend all the information with his fast talking. I would not take this professor if math is a difficult subject for you
He talks alot goes of subject lecture notes he provides are not clear yiur better off reading the math book to understand
The bad things about him are that he talks really fast and is not clear in his lectures. I wouldn't recommend him for those that struggle with math. He gives a study guide before each exam, but I still found the exams to be on the difficult side. He drops the lowest test grade which is nice and does not grade homework.
Talks too fast and sometimes off the topic , sometimes stuck in problem and solves the problem later after class. He gives similar questions and the solution before exams, which makes the exam easier. He teaches from professor Prez paper and does not solve the important book problems. Get ready to go to tutoring center and work a lot. Good luck
He is efficient at breaking down concepts. The homework can be frustrating since it will only help you if you are on the border between letter grades but you should still do it. Your success will be based on how well you study his practice exams. HIs lectures can sometimes go off on tangents but his office hours are when you can fill in the blanks.
Professor Quigley is very nice and easy to get along with as a person however this rating is solely on teaching. Him being very sociable was actually a downfall because I would go to his tutoring hours and he would always talk about his personal life instead of the academic curriculum. He talks super fast & often makes mistakes on his own equations
He is a very nice guy but his teaching is not the best. His lectures are hard to follow due to his fast talking. Secondly, he does not teach all the concepts on the hw. His test are like the practice test, but they were much harder, as he makes the problems more difficult. Grades test hard, lectures after exams, and never lets out early.
Exams questions are similar to practice exam questions so make sure to answer practice exam. He can be hard to understand at first because he talks fast but you will get used to it and he really likes teaching math so he was very motivating for me. Good luck
Terrible, talks fast, doesn't teach hw concepts, exams are difficult if your not a math person. Never lets out early, takes time from breaks, because he gets behind, officer hours super late at night 10:00. do not take
grades are based only on test scores, no extra credit. He takes attendance at the beginning and end of class. Picky grader. Loves math!
Your grades are based solely on 5 midterm tests and 1 cumulative final. the good thing is he drops your lowest midterm test and also curves test scores including final. All in all, i really enjoyed his class. He is very straightforward in what he wants and provides practice tests that prepare you for the tests. Loves Math and teaching.
Very good teacher
Prof. Quigley is super passionate about his job. He tends to speak a little fast so its hard to comprehend what he is saying, but he always makes sure people are on the right track. I would go in to his office hours to get help on the practice exams and he would explain every single one of them to me, and ended up getting an A in the class.
Professor Quigley is a sweet guy; difficult class but i'd say you have the best shot at success with him. His lectures are loaded and he rambles super fast so they're intense. But he has generous office hours and drops the lowest test (the curves really save your butt though!) If you do the HW he'll round up a borderline grade at the end.(Had a D).
Professor Quigley is one of the hardest teachers I have ever taken. He is a very very tough and picky grader. He's a nice guy but I don't recommend his class if math is not your thing.
Profesor Quigley is a very nice guy. However, he does not respond to emails and puts up grades on blackboard 4-5weeks after a test was taken. It is hard to see where you stand in class. His test are straight forward just like practice test but his grading is very very picky.
Professor Quigley is overall a great teacher. He gives study guides which are exactly like the exams, which is ideal for any math class. He also curves the test scores and drops the lowest one. Woo! Downfall is he never replied to any of my emails, and he can ramble during lecture. He is a very sweet man who truly wants everyone to succeed.
He ditched half of the semester but the class was easy and u cant learn anything from him
Great guy and super passionate about math. The first professor Ive rated on this website. Class grade was based on 3 exams.. we took 4 but our best 2 exams and final exam count. Stoked to have taken his class and learned a ton. Thanks Professor, youre a great man!
I am so lucky that I took Prof. Quigley, he's a god-sent! I am always bad at Math so I have to take a couple of lower-level ones, and Prof was very helpful and caring. I would be getting C if he did not keep on curving my test scores. He really wants everyone to pass! Book is helpful for studying, and he'll also curve your final grade if you do hw!
Professor Quigley is hands down to best math teacher I have ever had in my life. I am horrifically bad at math and Quigley made this class a breeze. You have 7 tests through the semester and if you do the (optional)homework he will bump your grade 2-4 percent. The practice tests he gives out in advance are pretty much word for word from the test.
Outside of high school, this has to be the best math teacher I have ever had. Pay attention to his lectures, do the study guides, and all the tests will be easy. He will take time to help students out if they are lost, so don't be afraid to ask for help.
One of the BEST math teachers Ive ever had. Take good lecture notes. Rambles a lot but ask Q's he'll go back and explain it in a way that makes sense. Keeps math interesting and simplifies concepts into easy-to-understand processes. Cares about students and has a passion for math. Hard grader but curves scores. Four tests no req. hw, I prefer that
Theres quite a bit of homework, but its needed to learn sufficiently. Its not required though. You can drop one test, and hell bump your grade if you do the homework. Hes really nice and is great at explaining things.
Math, at all levels, is difficult and requires practice. There is a direct correlation to the time spent effectively practicing and how you perform. The term "effectively" is where Professor Quigley comes into play. I have yet to meet a more passionate professor that will guide you into making your practice the most effective and applicable.
Quigley literally taught me how to successfully have the grit and will to understand and pass math like no other math teacher has been able to do. I have always struggled with math and he made everything so clear through his lectures, he is welcoming with any questions and will explain a concept until you get it. Very caring, wants you to succeed.
Best math teacher ever. Explains everything in a way that makes sense, especially if math isnt your strong suit TAKE HIS CLASS. Goes over similar Q's and guides you through the tests. What he teaches is what you get on tests! Drops lowest test and quiz score. You won't know your grade and he doesn't really go online. But the tradeoff is worth it.
He truly loves math and wants you to get a good grade. The grade is based on 3 midterms and a final but he provides a practice test that is a fraternal twin with the real one. If you pay attention, ask questions and study for the tests you'll get a good grade. All tests are curved by the median grade so it's possible to get over 100/100 (I did it).
Professor Quigley would have to be the worst math professor I have ever had. Because of covid, everything was online; he never put out links for office hours to answer any of my questions. We have had 3 exams and one final and I'm still waiting to see my test grade for Exam 2 that we took in October. Trust me when I say this, do not take him!!
hard to make this short but I shall try... did not grade anything since the beginning of the semester until late April did not reply to any student emails did not specify the calculations or wording he wants and marks me off on the tiniest things he can catch even though your answers are correct VERY STRICT GRADER repeating myself: DONT TAKE HIM
Did not grade several tests for most of the semester. Never responded via emails. But was always available on zoom. Very informative style of lecturing which is helpful for some. Just difficult to know what he wants on his exams since I'm still waiting to know myself. Polarizing teacher. In person might be better.
Honestly, he is a decent professor when it comes to teaching. However, he cannot stay up to date with his OWN schedule. He is trying cram 6 sections in right before finals week. He has only graded 2 tests out of the 6 we had this semester. Also, he does not respond fast with emails or questions. Only take him if its your LAST option.
The last 4 reviews are very accurate. He seems nice and teaches well. He records lectures in 360p and 480p, so it is VERY hard to read his whiteboard. Blames everything on internet problems, so we missed 6 discussion boards and he hasn't graded 4 of our 6 exams. I don't know how he gets by in life with his lack of knowledge of basic technology.
I'm transferring this semester to a UC and needed to send my full official transcripts. The class ended on 5/25. He didn't post grades to MySite until 6/10, 3 days after grades were due. Never responded to my email. Now my classes at my UC are waitlisted because he didn't submit grades on time. Had to contact the Dean of math and he sorted it out.
