Quinn is a good teacher although some of the topics that he had us write about were very uninteresting. I hope he burns the Pathologies of Hope article for the sake of future students. Quinn will answer most questions and is always willing to give help when needed. Do the work and you will pass. The rubric is his bible, follow it.

Best teacher I have ever had. Made the class incredibly interesting, teaches so well that you are guarenteed an A - not because it's easy to get one, but because he makes you want to work hard enough to get one. Definately recommended for any class he teaches!

I took it online, he was a great teacher. We had discussions, essays, and quizzes. They weren't terribly hard. If you just turn everything on time and try your best, you will definitely get an A.

Quinn is a very nice guy, however he grades papers very hard! I got a D on the first paper I turned in! Im not the worlds best writer, but I also dont write at a 1st grade level! I called a friend to help me out with the next paper and I got a decent grade but only because I used the extra credit! Dont take him hes not easy to please! take Esperian

This was one of the easiest classes I've had since starting school at CSN. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you are looking for an easy English class that doesn't require much effort this is the professor for you. Or if you are hoping to take a challenging class that requires more than minimal effort don't take this professor.

He is a very nice man. There are 3 essays (summary, critique and synthesis paper.) Just a few homework at the beginning of semester. Last one is Research Paper. He's an easy grader. English is my second language (I'm Vietnamese and I've just been in the U.S. for 2 years), I am not a very good writer but I still got an B in his class. Take him!

Took him online, I was pleased with the class. He was very helpful when I needed it. No final. I think there were five papers in all, quizzes and discussions. he also offers extra credit.

Prof Quinn was a great online teacher. You must participate in several informal discussions, take 2 easy quizes, write 5 essays and submit 2 for a final grade. As long as you do the work you should receive an A. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit too.

Took this class last semester. Aced every essay I turned in, because I read the directions! All he asks for is a summary of what you've read in the text, and your opinion. He was helpful and got back to me quickly. There were discussion posts, that's a given with most online courses. Would take him again in a heartbeat and highly recommend. Easy A.

Highly recommended! I took his class online and he was extremely helpful. If I had a question he would respond instantly. Grades easily. Requires a few written essays but grades nicely. ALSO HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT. YAY EXTRA CREDIT.

I took this class online and it was easy for me. An essay was due every other week, with little assignments in between. My writing has definitely improved. I enjoyed that he had written little comments for every essay; it ensured me that he had actually read what I had to say.

I ended up with Quinn after the school moved me, he is very smart and assigns thought provoking essays. I liked his class so much that I plan on taking him next semester.

I absolutely LOVED Professor Quinn! English is not usually my favorite subject, but I didn't miss his class ONCE! He is EXTREMELY helpful, & so nice! This class is pretty much like a discussion class. He is always willing to help, & is VERY friendly! Homework consists of reading short stories, & answering 4 easy questions. I definitely recommend!!

This professor is amazing. This is my 2nd time taking english 101 because my last professor was rude and not helpful at all. Professor Quinn is nice and gives essay topics on relateable subjects that are really thought provoking. His critque on essays are helpful so that you can improve as an individual! I may take eng 102 because of him!!

Great Professor. The essays were enjoyable to write. He allowed creativity and offered great critiques. I tried taking English 102 with him, but his class was full.

Took the 4 week online summer course so it had 8+ weeks of work put in to 4. Staying on schedule is key and Professor Quinn is very straight forward. 4 essays, 2 quizzes, and several discussion posts. Make sure you do the extra credit! PQ is a fair grader and my writing improved too! Take his class!

Took PQ for the 4 week summer session. His assignments & instructions are clear & concise. No hidden agenda behind them. It is what it is, do your best, participate, and you'll do great. He grades very fairly and offers extra credit. Which is proof he is only here to help you, & not fail you. I like how he critiques, it isn't offensive at all.

This is a great class for all majors. Had to write several essays with 2 topics to choose from for each. Do the extra credit - it's easy AND you'll learn something about your current writing ability. My writing improved because of this class!

Prof Quinn is the best!!! I just finished his fall Eng 101 class and it was easy and fun. Of course you have to do the work and participate. He gives extra credit and you can rewrite 1 essay if you chose. TAKE TAKE TAKE.

Professor Quinn is amazing!! His lectures are interesting and thought provoking. He doesn't make you do a ton of busywork either. You actually WANT to go to his classes. I recommend him to anyone taking English.

I love english but going to his class made me want to bring a pillow so I could sleep. He's a cool guy and seems very passionate but I didn't like the way he taught the class. It was boring and mindless and the stories didn't keep my interest. Reading journals, quizzes, group work and then the final and that all adds up 1000 pts.

He offers about two letter grads worth of extra credit. Hes a very fair grader and is flexible on the schedule if you ask. Very nice guy. Class is an easy A. Took online.

Took this class online during summer session. Assignments are very straight forward (4 essays, one research paper and some discussion posts). He offers an unusual amount of extra credit; making an A easy to achieve if you put time in. Responds to e-mails with a day and updates your grades within three or four. Overall a good experience.

Took online. Pretty simple class. Lots of extra credit which is nice. I thought the textbook was kind of odd, but it had some pretty interesting essays. I really enjoyed the GoogleMaps activity. It was neat. Fun discussions. Good feedback on essays. Great class overall. Would recommend.

Professor Quinn is the best. He uses a great book, in which the essays were very interesting. I even read some that were not required. he gives many opportunities to do extra credit which is very easy. Take him!

Great Professor! Vey knowledgeable and passionate about literature. I enjoyed the reading and discussions, and looked forward to going to class. Easy A as long as you go to class and do the assigned readings. He assigns reading journals for half of the semester, and short basic plot summary quizzes the second half. Great class, highly recommend!!

REALLY GOOD PROFESSOR

This professor is very profound with the readings done. The class can get boring at times. Really easy class to pass. There is journals due each day depending on the pages of the book you read. 2 essay's 1st is 2-3 pages length second is 3-4 pages

He is an amazing professor. He was very understanding if you didn't understand a concept and offered help if you needed any. He had two term papers and offered a writing workshop to help everyone get an A. Would definitely take another course with him.

Easy Class. I was a bit worried because English isn't my best subject, but class was easy There's 5 eassys and he lets you do a re-write. Discussion every week + response. Easy A, however I don't feel that I learned a lot because it was that easy.

This professor changed my whole viewpoint on life in such a positive way. His class was a breath of fresh air and I actually enjoyed coming to class. Easy A and you take home with you more than just the grade. Recommended for anyone needing this credit. Best professor at CSN!

Patrick Quinn was honestly a great professor. I did the class online and literally made a 100% on everything, and I'm not that great at writing essays. He offers plenty of extra credit!! He gets to your emails as soon as he can and is willing to talk to you about anything on your assignments. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!

I don't know what everyone else is talking about - it wasn't THAT easy. He offered A FEW extra credit assignments - not "plenty". I completed all 3 (which weren't worth a lot), and it didn't help much. Nice, helpful, patient, & intellectual professor, though. In terms of essays & assignments, if you're dogmatic in your opinions, he deducts points.

Very nice guy. You can tell he loves what he does. You do have journals to do on the books you read. And an occasional paper due. Attendance is a grade. He likes group discussions on the text, so make sure you actually read. Easy class.

Online class w 8 discus post (do it, u get full cred), 3 quizzes (easy) 5 mini essay on readings (always got full cred), and 4 essays that r 3-5pgs long. Always got an A. You generally have 2-3 weeks for each " module", which consists of all these assignments. Plenty of time to finish them. Extra credit offered. Take him, save a lot of stress.

I loved professor Quinn's class. He always kept is up to date and tried to grade our work as quickly as possible. He was always there if you had any questions. The only con was he would get his dates wrong, but if you told him he would correct it and tell everyone.

SUCH AN AMAZING PROFESSOR!! I loved his class, it consisted of reading funny novels and writing reading journals for them, 1 final, 1 quiz, 2 Papers, EASSSYYYY A+ just do the easy home work :) other than that his class was really enjoyable he's a great guy! throws a party at his house and invites his students LOL that's how cool the guy is!

I have nothing bad to say about Patrick Quinn. Take him if possible. I wish I had more English or Literature classes to take so I could choose him.

Prof. Quinn is AMAZING. He is so nice and so funny. The work is easy, and the books are great. His lectures are so fun and there is always great conversation. Definitely take his course if you have the chance.

This class was great. You write four papers and have weekly discussion posts. Prof. Quinn gives very good instructions on what he is looking for on the papers as well as provides videos on how to accurately write what it is he wants. There are two peer reviews, one that is mandatory, and one for extra credit. Great feedback as well.

5 (not 4) essays + 1 discussion post & response per mod. No pre-essay work (outlines, etc.) except for 1 rough draft for 1 required peer review. No tests except for 1 syllabus quiz. Doesn't address incorrect grammar/spelling - mainly focuses on the CONTENT of your work. Be clear, detailed, unassuming, & show that you fully comprehend the readings.

The whole point of this class is to read! So of course there will be alot of "get ready to read" tags. Don't worry, the textbooks are very interesting. Can also give you pop quizzes and class discussions. Provides great insight on many topics. The class can get very philosophical depending on the students. Would take again!

I absolutely love Professor Quinn. He was such a great professor. Although my class was online, I felt a connection between students during interactivity because of his direction. I think Quinn is one of the best professors I have had so far at College of Southern Nevada.

Professor Quinn is an easy-going guy who is very understanding, and knowledgeable. I loved talking to him. There was 4 easy essays. The research essay(8 pages) was the harder one, which was divided into 6 units(outline,rough draft etc). There's also a presentation for that essay. He a very fair grader, and gave me 100s on a lot of the assignments.

Super easy and fun class. I'm not a very good writer I'm more into math and numbers, but this class was very easy and received an A! The subjects of the essays were also very fun and interesting to write about.

Professor Quinn's class was easy to understand and pass. We did four essays which is where most of your grade comes from. He explains the prompts to you and if you need further explanation you can always email him. There were two extra credit opportunities that you won't even need if you turn in all the work, which is all you have to do to pass.

Straight forward class. Discussion posts, 2 quizzes, and 5 papers. It sounds like a lot but the papers aren't too long. The minimum page amount goes up as the class goes on. He gives great feed back on each paper on how to improve. Paper due every week if you're taking 4 week, then an extra reflective essay due at the end. He made this class easy.

Mr. Quinn is a GREAT professor. If you actively participate and try you'll pass this class without a doubt. He's very respectful, and always leave positive notes on your essays!

Professor Quinn is one of the best teachers I have taken here at CSN. His teaching material is very clear and gives good feedback on assignments. I WOULD TAKE THIS CLASS A MILLION TIMES. He is one of those professors who really shares a passion for what he teaches.

Professor Quinn is definitely one of the best teachers I've picked at CSN. He was really amazing and you could see he really cares about what he teaches. His grading criteria are clear and easy and you will never feel lost. A few reading journals, 2 essays, and a final exam. But everything was an easy A!

Although he is a great teacher and he knows his stuff. YOU NEED TO PUT TIME AND EFFORT INTO HIS CLASS! Don't think coming in this class and just writing couple of essays and posts is going to get you an easy A. NO! your going to need to word things articulate. actually do the work. Its English 232 so you have to expect that it is a lot of reading, a lot of the stories you read will be interesting but some will be not that interesting. As long as you do all your reading journals and actually read all the assigned literature, and participate when or if he calls on you this class is an easy A.

I really enjoyed his class. Make sure you submit on time. Good teacher, he also gives good feedback. I enjoyed writing my essays.

Superb professor! 5 essays, 2 quizzes, discussions, lots of extra credit--all of which points can be easily attainable. Students may believe he is stern, but he gives valuable feedback that will enhance your writing skills. They are tips that can be utilized throughout your college career, which is lovely! I got a perfect score in his class.

5 essays: Summary: 100 pts, Critique: 125 pts, Synthesis: 175 pts, Research: 200 pts, and Reflective: 75 pts. 2 quizzes: Syllabus and YT videos. 10 q's each worth 5 pts. Straightforward + picks out thought-provoking essay and discussion board topics that revolve around contemporary society, so it did not take that much mental capacity to write.

Professor Quinn is amazing! I took his creative non fiction class online and the book he chose was interesting and really made you think about yourself and your life. He gives great feedback and is really clear of his expectations. He's a cool dude and very fair! I am on a waitlist for his ENG 102 position number 2 and I pray I get in. Take him!

Great class! I am taking his eight week course online and it is the easiest class you can ask for! He tells you what to expect in the beginning. A little tough on grading but you will be fine if you go get help from the writing center before submitting your papers. I would recommend him to anyone who may be busy with other things like jobs/kids

He is a really great teacher for the first year. The assignments are easily understandable and he gives great feedback. The book is required because there are questions in the book that is needed but easy A if you do the essays. 3-5 page essays.

I had trouble with the first few essays, but once I got into the swing of things, the class was very easy. He had 5 essays, peer grading for each essay, 3 quizzes, and a few other assignments. It was easy to get your grade up, even if you did poorly on the essays. I appreciated the various opportunities for a grade bump! I would recommend him!

I am normally not a person who does well in English classes but this class I actually really enjoyed. Expectations were very clearly laid out. He gave very specific feedback on each essay and was very helpful regarding all questions. I will be taking him again for my next semester of classes.

This class was my first online class (8wks) and I have to say I loved it. Professor is very professional and helpful. Syllabus states clearly what's expected of you. Class feels a bit heavy the first 2 wks but after that class is more relax. 3 essays and rough drafts, 5 discussions (easy but have to read), 3 quizzes and 2 instructors comments.

This teacher is really nice, and as long as you do the work you will pass, for me, english is my least favorite topic, so maybe that is why this class was boring for me.

Im not great when it comes to literature, but professor Quinn made it easier and enjoyable. There is a lot of reading in this class, but most of the novels are really interesting and easy to read.

He was really cool and very outgoing and kinda bonded with students. High recommend

I took this class during the summer. It's an expedite course and is quite difficult, so do not expect to pass if you're not willing to read or write at a college-level. Even if you're not a great writer I suggest taking him. He gives great feedback and lets you know what you can improve on. Amazing professor.

This 8 week course consisted of reading in the Creative Nonfiction. There are only 4 essays which have very interesting prompts and exciting. The Professor is awesome and gives great feedback on his students I recommend this to anyone taking English 101.

There was a lot of writing with a lot of different readings, but he gives specific instructions making it easy to get a good grade. Professor Quinn also gives feedback whenever you don't meet those goals properly. Generally, if you have a basic skill in writing not only will you be able to easily pass his class but you will also learn a lot.

Honestly so happy I took Professor Quinn. I hate literature but the readings he assigned were very interesting and easy to keep up with. One big assignment at the end of the year, and 3 assignments every week. Honestly a lot of work, but if you have good time management this class will be an Easy A for you.

Very solid professor. I'm not a confident writer and finished this class with a 99%. I got a low A the first essay but his feedback was very helpful and helped me get better grades on the next essays. I highly recommend.

Put effort into presentations on the material to try to explore it and make it interesting, welcomed student participation, usually had some interesting thoughts.
