Has a problem wrapping up lectures in time. Also, tends to harp on the problems with Tennessee's taxes way too much.
Doesn't do a good job of wrapping up lecture sometimes and tends to repeat unneeded information many times. But he does know what he's talking about if he gets around to it. If you need more than three grades for your entire semester average, do not take
Reagan has one problem: he is too opinionated. I actually agree with much of his political leanings, but they aren't to be repeated daily in class as instruction. Only 2-3 tests per semester, which ask too much information, and takes weeks to be graded.
This guy could be a decent professor. His political biases are too much of a hobbyhorse with him. He's the John the Baptist of leftism at Tennessee Tech, haranguing the non-believers.
Seems like a good teacher, however I found most of his lectures pointless. There are only 3 test which cover so many topics its hard to get a bearing on what he wants. Takes forever to get test back--not that it will help you any when you get them back.
Not as bad as you might think but he definitely has some problems. Only gives three exams for the entire course grade which cover topics too numerous and complicated to write about in 50 minutes. Takes forever to give tests back and isn't a lot of help.
Got through all the material which is impressive, but his tests don't allow students to showcase threre knowlege. They cover too much material in not enough time. You will likely hate him and the course by the end of the semester.
Great class. If you do not like to study, then do not take him. If you want to actually LEARN history, then take him. Tests are very demanding, but passable if you know the material.
Feel like im watching Biography on A&E. Very opinionated and 100% left-wing. Test are difficult and consist of only essay questions. Only 3 test per sem. and way to long to complete in 50 min. But he does know hist.
Reagan is 100% honest, and his opinions explain history and politics very well. His classes are interesting, his tests are challenging but FAIR. If you know the basics of the material, you will do fine. He's a great guy who will help if you see him.
Sounds to me like the conservative TTU campus can't stomach an alternative voice. Reagan relates history to the PRESENT DAY and shows the problems; he presents facts with his opinions and lets you decide. He sets the record straight in an unabashed tone.
Funny to watch all of his mannerisms. His lectures are never on what he is supposed to talk about. He gives "key terms" which he never defines and some are not in the two text books you have to get. Tests are 10 short answer pick 5 and 2-4 SAs
His political alignment seems to be the subject of the most contention (he claims that only a couple of students have ever pinned it down, so it is doubtful a simplistic label like "leftist" would stick). A master of rhetoric in his field.
Unless you can write a novel so eloquent that it makes him cry, you can not and will not get an A on anything you hand in to him. Otherwise he is a nice guy.

I love hearing his opinions, i agree with them whole-heartedly, but his tests are very difficult to make an A on because his standards are set for graduate students majoring in History...if you don't absolutely love history, take someone else..
If you don't agree with his opinions, he makes it look like your really dumb. No point in going to class, he doesn't give many notes at all. Read the book.
i guess he knows his history, but he never gets around to telling about it. only 3 grades the entire semester, all essay tests. hard to get a decent grade. dont take him unless u can win him over on essay questions.
If I had to pick my favorite teacher out of those I had this semester, it would be certainly be Dr. Reagan! He is extremely helpful, and his classes are interesting. His tests are challenging, but he grades very fair. I would recommend his class to anyone
He drove me crazy!He is so nice and means well but good lord his lectures.I did learn how to write a research paper though.Maybe if he could try to stay on topic it would help.I agree the state budge stinks but that is for another class.
I cant stand the Bias Fundamentalist Liberal views of this sad sad man. I leave class feeling dumber than when I got there. this class is a compleat antiproductive hour out of my day, and a sink hole in my grade. dont take this class unless your a sadist.
Well I've been in the class for about 3 weeks now and I think in all of that class time we have talked more about his son and how terrible he thinks Bush is than History. Complete waste of 50 min. Try to take a different teacher if you can.
This class is possibly the worst one of my college career. He treats his survey course as if it is full of graduate students. Very difficult tests. Try to avoid his classes if at all possible.
Not very helpful with the subject...rarely talks about the materials on the test.
If you have conservative political views, do not take this class. He needs to spend more time teaching history, instead of bashing Bush. His liberal rambling made me go mad!!! For expecting so much from his students, he does a horrible job of teaching.

If he talked about anything but his son and his love of trains, I never caught it. He knows his history but never seemed to actually teach it. Anything I learned in that class I taught myself. Don't take him unless you want to be late to your next class.
Attend class, and start your research paper EARLY for this class. His lectures are interesting, but they are long and you never get out on time.
His test are hard but if you actually listen then you see he really knows his stuff and IS teaching it, he is fairly liberal and appartently thats not the cool thing anymore. Oh and 3360 is his fav subj so he gets very into it, just look out
Dr. Reagan is a wonderful professor. He definitely knows his stuff. If you pay attention in class, you will do fine. I love his course.

Reagan is really cool than most people think.Although his classes go a little over he knows his stuff.He just wants people to appreciate history a little bit more.If u need help with anything all u have to do is go to his office and talk to him. He is a kinda funny guy so i would recommend him
There is WAY too much material to try and learn for this class. An INSANE amount of reading is assigned. The tests are completely essay, and he is not an easy grader. He is a nice but strange person. I will never take a class with him again.
Very HARD! All essay test. Alot of reading. To much information to study. AVOID this class if possible.
I learned a lot about his son, how much he loves Ohio State football, and that he has one of the most annoying voices. I studied more for this class than I did for any of my others and still got a C. I'm a senior and have made all A's and a few B's. If that tells you anything, DON'T TAKE HIM!
the only thing youll learn is how a man that works 80 hrs in a week but takes 4 weeks to grade a single test. you do the math!! oh and his son likes trains and he does not like being a worker for state of TN.
I don't see what everyone has against him... if you can just memorize everything from everything you are supposed to read and everything he says, you might pass! :(. He is a helpful guy, but he requires that you know everything. Kerry Lost, Get over it!
I took Dr. Reagan's U.S. Economic History class in the Summer of 2004. Dr. Reagan made the class very interesting, enjoyable, and challenging. Additionally, he was fair and helpful to the students. In my opinion, he was a much better-than-average professor.
DO NOT take this teacher!!!!!!!!! He is very hard to follow in his lecture. He also keeps you over the time limit making you late for other classes. The test are graded like a english test not a history test.
Mr. Reagan knows his History, but he does not know how to teach it. His test are all essay, and his does not give quizzes, so if you mess up you cant make it up. Dont take it if you have the choice. He is protected by the school system and you cant do nothing about it. Bascially he sucks.
Dr. Reagan's class was my hardest class EVER!!! He goes over time EVERYDAY making you late for you next class...his tests are insanely hard, and he grades them gramatically even tho you only have 50 minutes to do them. My worst class by far!
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!!! His lecutures are boring and disorganized. His tests are impossible to make a good grade on. I'm used to making mostly A's and a few B's...I came out of Reagan's class with my first C ever. He never lets you out of class on time so make sure he's your very last class.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! If you do take him, you can kiss your GPA goodbye. An insane amount of reading is required from 2 books and don't expect to get it all read. Your grade will consist of only 3 essay tests (6 questions ea.) I studied extremely hard for this class and still ended up with a C. Lec
Dr. Reagan is full of liberal nonsense and endless rhetorical lectures. Nothing he said through the semester had anything to do with the subject, and all he was ever concerned with was complaining about being up too late and griping about how Kerry lost.never lets you out on time.DONT TAKE CLASS!!!
his tests may seem hard, but if you answer them like he tells you to then its pretty easy
Dr. Reagan was a tough teacher, but fair. I totally bombed one exam and he gave me a chance to make it up later with other grades. This was not the easiest teacher I have ever had, but all it took was a little extra work and I ended up with a B... not too shabby.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! His lectures are never on subject and his tests are 6 essay questions. He is very hypocritical about religion.
Dr. Reagan is extremely helpful, and his class isn't too difficult. He truly cares about what he's doing. The only problem I had is that he often goes overboard with political diatribes -- it's important for professors to challenge students, but he overdoes it on occasion.
I was told not to take this guy, but if you go to class take notes and are a Ohio State fan you will do fine.
This guy took almost half of a class to express his political views. This is an American History class, years 1607 to 1877, NOT a political views class. I advise to avoid this professor.

I agree that he never finishes his lecture, and he does preach against Bush for most of the class, but you won't get a better history education from anyone else. The class is HARD, but you WILL learn from it.
Reagan is definitely knows his stuff, and will not hesitate to stop and assist students, helped me find sources when I was having trouble. He does go overboard with his political views in class, and his lectures never seem to get finished, but he is a pretty good teacher. If you come to class and try to do the work you will make a good grade.
Dr.Reagan knows history.If you come to class and read the assignments you can do well.His exams are very fair.He gives 10 terms and you only have to define 5(worth 50 pt),and he gives you 2-4 essay questions to pick from and you write on 1.(worth 50 pt).College is suppose to expose you to different points of views;listen and you may learn something
His tests are ok, but you have to study your butt off! Study all of the terms that he gives you and write out your essay a couple of days before the exam. All you have to do is know the stuff on the 5 themes of the class. His essays are usually found in one of those themes. He's ok, but you do have to work and do all the readings to get agood grade
Reagon is great. He is a strong leader who knows that we made a mistake in 2004. I say go Dr. Reagon. If they listen to this man we would have a better country. I say 2008 REAGON for president. He is a great teacher. Little difficult. The only think I didn't like he always went over. Alot of readying , but it is not unbarable. TAKE HIM!
If you love history you can learn a lot from this class. I think he tries to squeeze to much out of his non history major students. I just studied the terms that he wrote on the board and did none of the readings and pulled a C.Sorry Reagan I have other things I'd rather invest my time in.
Wow, so far he has failed to finish one complete lecture. Unless you are sitting in the first row you cant hear him. His gets really LOUD and then starts whispering. I hate it. He rambles about how bad bush is for 30mins then doesn't have enough time for his lecture. Im very liberal, and he still gets on my nerves about bush. Don't take him.
Dr. Reagan is a great teacher and does a good job of making it interesting. The tests are hard, but he gives you most of the terms and possible essay questions before the exam. I really did not work hard in this class and pulled a B.
Dr. Reagan is not easy but is very interested in helping students succeed. If you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. If you are looking to learn something then definitely take this class. A really nice person who knows his stuff!
Dr. Reagan's class is not easy, but he was a very fair teacher. I did bad on my first test, but he encouraged me and I did better on the next two. He lets you earn some extra credit during the semester. He knows his history. If you do your readings and attend class you will be just fine. I ended up with a C even after my first bad grade.
Do not take this class unless you just really enjoy listening to someone ramble about how much he dislikes the U.S. government system.
Do not take this class! He never tells you anything that could appear on the test. He gives you terms everyday and then assign SOOOO much reading for hw. He says you should be able to identify the other terms from the readngs on your own. The essay parts of the test count as a huge part of the test, and he gives no hint as to what this could be ove

The most difficult class I have ever had. Two essay based exams, a research paper, and the final are the only grades. Does not even give reason for taking points off on tests. Thousands of pages (7 books) of required reading. Never finishes lecture on time. Treats all classes like upper division graduate level. An A is nearly impossible.
He was a Lame teacher, he didnt help his students with Questions. He is just a bad teacher.
There is no doubt in my mind Dr. Reagan doesn't know his stuff but I felt for a 200 level course it was extremely difficult with hard grading.
Dr. Reagan is an extremely helpful teacher. The readings are a lot but its a history class. I have had him for HIST 2010, 2410, and now HIST 4050. I made a B+ in both of the first 2 classes. I would recommend him if you are willing to study hard and learn.
Professor Reagan is the best teacher at Tennessee Tech. He really loves his students and wants everybody to succeed. If you get a chance to take him take it because it will be worth your time.
A credit to TTU Hist dept.i learned a bunch from the class. great personality, very helpful. take again and again.
Excellent professor. He will put you to work and he demands results. Getting an A requires putting forth a lot of extra effort, but it is possible. The class I took was designed to help me write historical research papers, and he has taught me more in one semester about writing than all my previous teachers combined.
if you enjoy someone ranting for 30 minutes about their hatred for the president and government (while adding in several obsenities), this is the class for you! this man doesn't stay on topic whatsoever and either has no concept of time or just simply doesn't care that he's running seven minutes over and you have no time to get to your next class.
Dr. Reagan is a wonderful teacher. His tests are difficult but if you keep in contact with him he works with you to improve your grade. He has been the only teacher to offer the amount of help to me. I am definately taking his class for 2020
Dr. Reagan was an extremely helpful professor. If you had any questions at all, he would do his best to answer them. You have to study hard for his tests, but it is worth it. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Reagan does NOT teach history. He teaches current issues. If I had wanted to take a current issues class I would have signed up for it, but he doesn't even get to the material that he is supposed to cover for the tests. Don't take this professor if you can help it!
Dr. Reagan really does know his stuff and is very intelligent. His classes are not easy, and he sometimes is not very clear. Very long winded and can really go on and on at times. Talks a little too much politics for my taste, but he is a great teacher and is recommended if you don't mind hard work

I really liked Reagan. However, you don't have to go to class to get a good grade. All you have to do is read the chapters that will be on the test and you will pass easily. He does tend to go off-topic in class. He is a very nice person though. I enjoyed this class anyway.
he is very arrogrant. he really wants you to know he worked during college, he is poor now, and really hates republicans. he should teach current issues. READ READ READ or you will fail this class test are essay. not easy at all.
Dr. Reagan is by far the best teacher I have had at Tech so far. You can tell he absolutely loves history and knows what he is talking about. Attendance isn't mandatory but I know I was supposed to get a B but I think he bumped me up to an A because of my attandance. He is a great teacher and it isn't a cake walk but you will learn a lot.
12/16/08 sums him up very well. Dr. Reagan is a smart guy. He majored in History because it was his weak point. This class is the equivalent of a High School A.P. course. You have to do the work if you want to succeed. As a freshman, I'd recommend him because you will learn time management from his class whether you want too or not.
Dr. Reagan was an awful teacher. Do not take him if you want to keep your Hope Scholarship. You have no idea what is going to be on the test and he will not give you any ideas. He expects to read A LOT and remember it ALL for the essay tests.

Dr. Reagan was horrible. I went to every class, did all of the work and readings, missed the first exam by 10 mins and told me to get a withdrawl slip. Does not care about the students.
By far the worst teacher i've ever had. I have never failed a class before and i'm on the way to failing this one. Tests are ridiculous because they are essays and you will have absolutely no idea what you are going to write about. there are 3 books you are expected to read to do the essays over but u don't know what its over.
If I wanted "astute" political commentary, I would watch any one of the many terrible news channels. Leave it out of the classroom sir. Other than that, one of the easiest upper division classes I've taken. Test format is standard essay and ID's. Most of the information he teaches can be found on wikipedia.
I think many of you still need to be in high school given your comments. "He expects you to read alot." Wake up kids, this is college. What do you think it is going to be like when you try to get a job. I can hear you now....."Oh, they expect me to be at work at 8:00 am and working." It makes me ashamed to be call your peers. Grow up or move on.
Spends the entire class rambling about irrelevent material and his kids and then expects you to be able to complete an assignment without teaching the material.
he is a great guy. he jokes alot but he expects the papers to be turned in. the most work you have to do is to write a 15-20 pg research paper wit the correct citation. other than that its a great class
First of all he is a very nice man, but i had some problems with him. tends to go off on random topics in class and does not do to great of a job on preparing you for the 15 to 20 page paper for the class. he is very helpful though if you go to his office and ask him questions. i would only recomend taking him if you are good at learing on your own
If you take this class, don't take a class directly after this. He'll go about 10-20 minutes over if no one reminds him and he hates it when someone walks out, so forget leaving while he's talking. He is nice and understanding, but sometimes starts talking politics or religion. You can take him if you have to, but leave time between your next class
I did everything I was required to do (read the textbook, took notes in class everyday, and studied for the whole week in advance) and still made a C in the class, and I'm pretty good at learning on my own. I would NOT recommend him to ANYONE!! He rambles in lectures about nothing and does not explain anything at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
His lecture consisted of ranting about students not coming to class, this made coming to class frustrating. His test(essays) wouldn't be hard if he covered the material in lecture. Tons of reading. I recommend someone else if possible. Hope this helps.

I am a junior in college and so far he is the worst professor that I have had the displeasure of meeting. He is a nice person but a terrible teacher, I think that he has reached his limit and needs to retire. I studied for every test and barely passed any of them, I couldn't understand what he wanted.

He is an awesome professor and has a deep respect for military. His best class is Military History.Be prepared to take lots of notes and copy the outline on the screen.Also be prepared for blue book essay form tests.
Reagan is a very smart man, but he tends to rant on and on about his bald head, his hot wife, and his 2 children. He's very liberal and does not hide his political views during class. His lecture is completely pointless. Just read the books, seriously, especially "The Social Fabric". Tests are all essay and he is extremely slow getting them back.
I really thought I would enjoy this class on the first day, but I ended up despising it. I have retained no material at all throughout the course. I've learned way more about his kids than i have history. His lecture are unclear and the test are AWFUL completely essay test that he'll take forever to grade. Take my advise and DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He really doesn't care about his students. He is always off topic and doesn't discuss history. Honestly will never take him ever again.
It has been three weeks and he hasn't gotten our tests graded. He doesn't lecture well. He will ask for your opinion about the test then show you how you're wrong. I've learned more about his life than i have history. Avoid this professor.
It has now been 6 months since our second test and none of his classes have received their grade. We've taken our final and are out for Christmas break! I know all my other grades in every class but he can't seem to get with the program. He failed to meet the grade turn in date and is probably still grading the second test!. Don't take this guy!
Grades were due almost one week ago yet grades still incomplete. But this is the norm in this class as on final day I still did not know my grade on exam number two. It takes him months to grade. He was my worst professor by far. He rambles on off topic about his personal life not history. I think he could benefit from a therapist. Run!!!
His grades are still not turned in from the fall semester. So, if you didn't have at least 15 hours last semester, the "I" in the course jeapordizes your scholarship money. Unbelievable.

I haven't been at TTU you for very long, but he seems to be one of the worse professors on campus. Very liberal and spits hate rhetoric at people who don't agree with him. Don't even bother trying to please him, he doesn't care about his students. His teachings style is mediocre. How this professor still has a job is beyond me. Don't take his class
I really hated this class while I was taking it. He rambles so much that it drove me crazy, and he assigned some lengthy papers. It wasn't until a few weeks after the semester ended that I really appreciated the class. The final paper made me realize that I learned a lot and that his choice in books and material was great.
Dr. Reagan probably was a great professor -20 years ago. Now he just rambles on about politics instead of teaching. He gives an outline for structured note-taking, but rarely covers everything on it because he spends a majority of his talking on the first 2-3 points. He almost always go over time, & students have to leave while he's still lecturing
Reagan would be a good professor for history majors, but for survey level courses, not so much. His tests are designed for people who are studying history in depth. His class requires AS MUCH reading as the literature classes at TTU and he doesn't give study guides. His outlines are confusing and it's nearly impossible to take decent notes.
Profosser Reagan is very liberal and hateful toward anyone toward the right of the political spectrum. He gives long lectures about things that have nothing to do with the subject we are supposed to be learning about. The test are for historians, not students. Worst professor/teacher I have ever had. I would recommend you find another teacher.

Usually is late 5-10 minutes and then keeps talking after the class is over while you are walking out the door in order to make it to your next class. Tests are not for non-History majors.
