A little disorganized, but he means well and is clear and to the point in his lectures. He is also helpful, accomodating and fun. He reminds me of the Michael Bolton character in the movie Office Space.

I loved Mr. Serpa. He was clear and I totally understood each step and if not I would ask and he would make sure I answered. I would definitely take him again. The best!!!!

Best math teacher I've had since 1st grade! Doesn't skip steps expecting you to know them already. Refreshes your mind with material from previous courses as you go along. Drops one entire exam from your grade! Comes up w/ lame jokes that are just funny.

Has a strong understanding of what he's teaching and explains it well. He made Calculus easy to understand and that is no easy feat. His class is also very well organized. It's readily apparant he spends a lot of time preparing the schedule, grading, tests, and lectures to help stutdents succeed.

if you do the homework and write down what he puts on the chalk board you should have little trouble getting an A.

This teacher is very helpful. Good teaching skills. I took all my math classes with him. If you keep track of his notes and pay attention it is easy to pass the class. An easy A class.

Of course he's going to grade the homework. I liked his class. I may not be a math wiz but i passed the class with an A. If I can do it, so can anyone. He's helpful, just ask for help.

I can only speak highly of Professor Serpa because he is such an awesome teacher. This man is a genius and he knows the material. He grades fair and gives some extra credit. Basically this man knows how to teach. He gives you different strategies to approach problems. Overall best math instructor I have ever had!

I took professor Serpa's class years ago and still remember this awesome man. He made me love math. The best math teacher I have ever had!To the person who thought he was not a good teacher - perhaps you are just not a college material...

He makes you work out problems all by hand and never shows you how to use the calculator to work it out much faster. I liked him as a teacher, he is extremely funny! I am just terrible at math but he would go out of his way to give me review sheets early so I had more time to study, and always available for extra help in his office

Amazing professor. He totally helps his students succeed. All I can say is, take him if you can. He is the absoulte BEST.

I would highly recommend Professor Serpa...he explains math in simple terms. He's pretty humble as well...no god image with him. I will take his class again if possible. He has this era about him...he knows he's hot!!

This professor is amazing. He has great office hours. Explains things so you can understand completely.

I have never really done well in math before, but I totally aced this whole class. His instructions are very clear and he always goes over plenty of examples. As long as you ask for help he will make you know what is going on. It is important to go to every class because he explains the lesson so well. I highly recommend him for stats.

Professor Serpa is a great professor. Statistics is not to bad with him as long as you pay attention and do the homework. He is always willing to help and I would definitely recommend taking him for stats.

ummmm... What can I possibly say about this professor. If you do all your work, come to class, and study I quarantee you will pass this class with an A. If you dont understand the process, just ask him and he will help you until you actually get it. He is always free to help you on any day when he is at school. An a is an ending result.

Serpa is a super smart man. his class is really interesting and hes easy to communicate with. he helps as much as possible! he even came on a saturday when i needed it. his intelligence spans far beyond math or stats. in class labs/quizes create points if ur there. has a project which is fun that also helps a lot.be careful to detail on tests!!

I am horrible at math, but I found Serpa's class surprisingly easy. Just go to class, do your homework, and study, you'll get an A or B. He is always there to help if you need it. I totally recommend him!

this class is solid, not much to say just go to class with a pulse and you should get a B. put in some effort for an A. I studied so i got an A hands down. not hard at all this was a breeze. just don't throw paper in the class or he will kick you out.

I got an A. Statistics isn't easy for me, but I enjoy and I do understand the implications of stats. He is very wise in economic trends. I would talk to him about our current trends, and he had wealth of knowledge. Study Peter Schiff.

Makes a lot of lame jokes, but very nice. Very thorough. Go to class, take good notes, do homework, and you will do fine.

Serpa is a very helpful teacher. Love him! Stats is not very easy but he takes you step by step on how to do the problem. He's very helpful and he really wants his students to be successful. I wish he can be all of my math teachers.

Stats is challenging, Serpa is AMAZING. After reading reviews from here, I decided to take his class & I do NOT regret it AT ALL! I recommend him to everybody. He is so adorable and his jokes crack me up. He is very patient & willing to help in any possible way. Got an A in class. I rarely did hw; however, I found I tested better when I did the hw.

Exceptional teacher. He is helpful, fair on grading, and super nice; but that doesn't mean the class is easy. Stats gets harder as you go. Keep up with the homework from the beginning; you'll be glad you did. I highly recommend this instructor.

He's a great professor. He actually takes his time to make sure you understand what he is teaching.

He took a class that can be difficult and made it a breeze. He does his best to put statistics into real world practicalities and it makes it easier. He is an uber nerd but that makes him all the more likable. Didn't do one HW assignment and I got a B+. The best part, he doesn't expect you to memorize formulas!

Had him for both stats and intermediate algebra. He is very professional but does have some fun. The concepts are difficult, but he does a really good job in explaining them. Many of his examples can be used in real life (gambling,housing market,etc) He always has some corny jokes but I find them hilarious. Not biased at all. I completely recommend

Definitely not an easy class. You must attend class to pass it and no get behind. Lots of quizzes and tests. Homework is a must do there is not time to slack off. Teacher is very helpful always has office hours and is always willing to help.

Professor serpa is the most helpful professor I ever had. Sometimes when I asked a question he made me feel dumb. But he other than that I got an A in the class and I am definitely going to take calc with this professor if he is going to teach it. I highly recommend this professor.

This class is pretty much straightforward. this teacher does not throw you any curve balls in tests, they are pretty much exactly the same as those from the homework. However, you must study and do hw ahead of time to succeed. he also gives in class quizzes, gotta keep up. I highly recommend this professor for CALC II :)

Professor Serpa was very clear, concise and on topic. He is also very funny, and keeps the class entertained while learning math. I would definitely recommend him. Also, you should really do the homework and pay attention in class if you want to do well in this class.

Fully recommend professor Serpa. He's really easygoing and totally fair. Although some of the stuff he covers is really difficult, he's willing to help you and answer questions. One of the best professors I've had - and the ONLY class I have had a B in at BC (straight A's). Yup, my only B and I give the guy a recommendation. He's that great.

Awesome teacher. Test aren't that hard nor homework, you just need to understand the material. Always makes jokes in class and is willing to stay after class to help. I would take mr. Serpa for each math class that I have. To pass the class you just need to do is homework, homework, and homework. He wants you to understand math not just the formula

This class was easy because he teaches the material in a very clear way. As long as you show up to class and take notes, this class is a breeze. If theres a concept you don't understand he's approachable and will walk you through the process. Makes jokes in class which makes it a nice learning environment.

Funny guy that I would recommend to anyone. Very helpful if you need it. Talks often about more advanced math courses that are quite interesting, but can take time away from the actual lecture. Flexible with exam dates. Makes you really understand the concept behind the math. Moderately tough course but nothing too bad. Great professor all together

professor serpa is great; approachable, ridiculously intelligent. he gives partial credit on exams, so don't feel timid about attempting a problem you can't solve. he's a nice person and will walk you through homework problems after class. can pretty much explain any "reasoning" behind certain steps in math. really funny and cute too. do every hw!

He gives out practice test,but a few of the questions he has on the practice test do not come up on the test and have different questions. He is very helpful and will help you if you need help. If someone does not understand the concept in class he does not mind slowing down or try to make the student understand.

He's a great guy. He will work with you to make sure you grasp the concepts. This doesn't mean you can put in no work into the course. If you put in the effort to learn, you will be fine in his class.

This was my third time taking B1B and I am glad I could attend his class. I always struggled with precal but he was able to thoroughly explain most of the material we learned. The topics discussed in class are the topics on the test. He occasionally cracks a few jokes and he is overall sincere. Really wish I could take him for Calculus 8.5/10

Man am i glad I took Serpa for b1b, amazing lectures, really passionate about making sure you understand the material, he has flexible office hours and is willing to work with the student. I highly recommend the course, plenty of homework I did it all and guess what I aced all my exams, I really wish he taught calculus!

Great professor. Knows how to teach math very well. There isn't any surprises on the tests. Teaches the concepts and give a study guided before the test with questions that will be just like the test. He is very helpful and cares about students.

Goes into depth about what he is teaching and is very informative and always super helpful if questions are asked

He is a very great Professor, his text are fairly easy, if you understand the subject, but overall not too bad. He gives parcial credit on everything! He is always their to help his students whenever they are in need of assistance.

Professor Serpa is by far my favorite teacher I have had at BC. He cares a lot about his students and wants them to pass. Gives you a clear understanding what will be on the tests and homework. He is hilarious and will give you a good laugh! Lots of chances to get your grade up, with homework, labs, quizzes, and tests. I would definitely recommend!

Professor Serpa's lectures can be a little dry a times, but overall I enjoyed the class. The homework wasn't mandatory, but it was instrumental when studying for the exams. There were 4 exams and 1 final and about 15 quizzes. I personally didn't find the math to be too bad, I found it similar to pre-calc, but there are definitely some rough spots.

Prof. Serpa makes Calc 1 a lot easier. He gives examples that are similar to the ones in WebAssign but does and explains it way more simply. Do the homework--possibly ace every single one of them, review every problem before the exam, and I assure you, you will get an A. He also makes jokes subtly which makes them funnier. 10/10 would recommend.

I had him for Calculus 1. He is very clear at explaining and will try to clear out anything you don't understand. The homework is graded, but it is well thought out and prepared. It covers just about everything you will need when the exam comes around. What is the most important thing you will do in the course? The homework.

Professor Serpa is pretty awesome. He made Trig really easy to understand. You can tell that he has a true understanding of the math. He approaches a subject from several angles which makes it easier to grasp the concept. He tests often so there is less to study for each given exam.

He makes sure you understand the concepts of math I recommend him. As long as you do the homework you will be fine.

Prof. Serpa has a lot of practice tests/quizzes but they are to help prepare you for the midterm/final. Each class period is building on the previous one so attending every day is important. The class gets harder as it goes on so be prepared. He gives good examples, makes time to answer questions on homework, and gives clear dates for quizzes/tests

Attendance is very important, I missed a day and was so lost the next. He is very fast paced. As the class is ending it gets harder. The labs are your main support and practice for tests and exams. 5 exams make or break your grade. He is always willing to help so stay during lab hours or math jams. He is also pretty funny.
