Good teacher, but sometimes it feels like a HS class since she teaches HS during the day. Homework is randomly collected, so you have to do it. Usually willing to answer questions and make sure you understand. Very nice lady.
Typical HS Teacher. Lots of homework that she grades frequently which she counts together with quizzes to add up to one test score. Very helpful though and always thorough. Would recommend her if Algebra is not something you are really familiar with.
If you suck at math, I recommend that you take her.
I really struggle at math! Mrs. Blanton does a very good job at helping students understand math. This was a required class I had no interest in taking - I'm so glad it's over but will really miss Mrs. Blanton. She's a great teacher. Easy to follow along with. Couldn't ask for a better teacher.
Very good teacher. DO the hw and you'll do well and study and you should be fine. I highly recommend her for calc 1 if you can get her.
Homework was collected at random for a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday class. Tests were nothing like the problems from the homework. On one of the test I got an 84 + 4 points for a curve. A friend in the class scored an 87 + 7points for a curve. You figure that out. Avoid at all costs. One of the worst profesors I've ever had.
Just awful. Talked down to the class like she was teaching a high school class. Homework was collected randomly. She had no office hours and thought the class went from 5-7 instead of 5:30-6:45. She did not prepare you for her tests, and the homework problems were nothing like the test. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I agree that she did teach like she was teaching high school sometimes (probably because she's also a high school teacher), but I thought that was a good thing. She made the concepts easy to understand and following her logic was very simple. She obviously loves her work and that makes the class much more fun. Just do the homework and you'll be fine.
If you don't like math take her. She tries to make it interesting and she really explains things well. It is easy to ask questions in her class. The only thing kind of ify about her is she just got done teaching in a high school so she sometimes makes it feel like high school. She is fine with skipping her class if you tell her in advance.
Really clear, but going to class is extremely recommended or you will get behind quick. Nice lady, class isn't too hard.
I wouldn't take her class! I had to drop her class because I had swine flu, and she wouldn't let me make up my test (I even gave her a doctors not). Don't sched. a class right after hers, cause she always ends her lectures 5 minutes late. And if you get up and leave, she calls you out on it! Doesn't grade hw, so your grade is strictly tests/quizes!
This lady is god awful. Avoid at all cost. Her teaching style is to not have one. her lectures are about 4 examples and gibberish. Be prepared to do homework and turn it in everyday for a grade. no makeup tests. she gripes if you are even 1 min late
She is nice if you tell her you will be absent ahead of time. She will be easy to understand. She will release you late. She will go over hmwk problems way before class starts. She also seems to think students only have her class bc her hmwk load is unbelievably large, daily, and not necessarily relevant. She is HORRID w/ her hmwk grading system.
She is a very nice teacher! Her test and quizzes are a lot harder than the homework, but she is always willing to help outside of class! As long as you go to class and keep up with the assignments
Great Teacher! Fun Course... she makes math interesting, and keeps you coming back for more!!! Take her for sure!!!
Very good at keeping interested in subject. Gives real world examples and will help you if you ask. I recommend to anyone.
Awesome teacher. Nice and helpful. She gives extra credit if you attend class!
Completely terrible 'teacher'. If it wasn't for being able to drop lowest homework scores based on attendance you can never go to class and just watch the lectures posted on itunes. Very arrogant and unhelpful.
Mrs. Blanton has great lectures and takes the time to clarify if the students are confused. She also comes to class early to help students before they turn in their homework. (She came in 45 minutes early the day of the final!) she lets you drop 2 homework scores and let's you replace a test grade with the final if it helps your grade. Great lady
I actually enjoy geometry, but this woman is awful. I asked for help on two occassions. One time she told me I would "get it later." The other, she refused saying, "I don't pre-grade homework." She uses handouts she has created, no textbook. I would avoid her at all costs. I am going retake the course with a different professor.
absolutely the worst teacher at MSU by far. Gives powerpoint handouts for a math class!!!??? Who does that??? there is no room on the handouts and never finishes them expecting you to figure it out yourself. By the time you get to the huge pile of homeowork that she grades, you have no idea how to complete it without the completed notes. awful awfu
Smartest woman I have ever met in my life. Definitely helpful.
She teaches like a high school teacher, not a professor. Her first lecture began with a speech about how "this is NOT high school", after which she proceeded to talk down to us like high schoolers and go through her personal policies that are completely unnecessary in college, and already understood by everyone. I dropped the class.
I signed up for this class thinking it was a traditional style class but it turned out to be an icourse. I stayed in it because I wasn't having any trouble at first and have never taken a online class before and then about mid-semester I regretted my decision. I spend over 160 hrs on mymathlab for a grade of a D. I tried but did not learn anything
One of the most effective professors I have ever had. HATED Geometry prior to her class, now I don't mind it and have a much better understanding. She truly cares about her students and shares her passion of math with enthusiasm! Don't miss the opportunity to take one of her classes!
I took the summer iCourse and worked full-time. She knows her stuff and is willing to help, you just have to ask for it. We had 4 lessons every week with 20-40 questions each plus the actual lesson you had to watch. I liked her as a professor but if you want a life during the summer I suggest you do not take this course. Do NOT buy the text book!!
Very good teacher. She is enthusiastic about math and loves teaching. She gives extra credit for showing up to class
She was always helpful and willing to give extra explanations. She gave powerpoint handouts and I felt that her class was easy to follow.
Gives extra credit for coming to class and is very enthusiastic about what she does. She actually knows her stuff and knows how to teach it. I really enjoyed this class. Do not buy the text book as we did not use it once.
Mrs. Blanton is a great teacher. She always walks in with a smile on her face and homework in her hand. She is always there after class to answer any questions you have and is very approachable. She is very enthusiastic with her job and puts all concepts into terms and pictures that a child could comprehend. She makes the class fun.
You must show up for class! There aren't too many quizzes, but to do well on the tests be in class. She is a great teacher and makes you laugh with the humor of the little mistakes. It was a enjoyable class wish she taught Cal!
Do not buy the textbook. Only use the one that is online because we rarely used it. Almost all of the work was done on webassign. She did have help sessions available. The homework was always harder than the examples during class and then the tests were even harder than that. It is not an easy course, you will have to work at it.
She has 2 help sessions a week, which really help. Her quizzes are not too bad, but they are timed which is stressful. Her exams are VERY difficult and I don't think any of us finished within the class time on any exam. Don't buy the textbook, we never used it.
Mrs. Blanton is a super enthusiastic professor! The class is challenging, but she will explain anything you need, whenever you need it! Final was mostly old exam material, not bad at all! Always go to her help sessions (twice a week) and visit office hours if you need help, and you'll do just fine!
She is a great teacher and is very nice. She is really interested in making sure her students do well. If you are will to work she will help you as much as she can. She sets up help sessions for the class for those who are having trouble. I recommend highly if you have to take a math class.
Algebra is not my best subject so I found it challenging but not impossible. The prof was very available and willing to help. Her lectures were clear and detailed. I would take other classes from her again.
This teacher knows what she is talking about and lectures clearly and nicely. Other than that, she is terrible. She treats the class like a highschool course. She glares at you and makes fun of you for being late. She also writes notes on tests making fun of you for small mistakes. She has written "really?" And "boo..." on a classmates test.
Prof. Blanton is an amazing professor! She is the only math professorteacher I have ever had to thoroughly explain everything to make sure the students understood and retained the information! I would definitely recommend her to any student that has struggled with math in the past. She's quirky and makes it fun. Look no further for a professor!
She is horrible don't take her. Her tests are very hard. She is willing to help, but when it comes to rounding, she says she is going to, and then ends up making you fail the class. I STATE, DO NOT TAKE HER SHE IS HORRIBLE!!!
Absolutely the most arrogant and least helpful teacher I've ever had. I've taken her course twice now and I'm racking my brain trying to figure out why I would take her again after having her for one semester. When asking emailing her for help, she basically tells you "tough." She has no interest in whether or not her students pass or fail.
Lectures were through iTunes. Had to watch about 25-30 lectures ranging from 30 min to 50 min. Made the material very easy to understand. Gives partial credit for just about anything on the test. As long as you have some inherent math skills you should be able to get the grade you desire. If you want an A you will have to put in the time, though.
She will yell through lecture like a grandma yelling at bad kids. It's clear she's passionate about teaching, but that passion doesn't transfer to good teaching with her. The slides are extremely basic then the homework is complex. Grading is strict and she starts and ends class 5 min. prior & after acting like its our bad if we show on time. AVOID
Not very clear when explaining how to do something during class. She only gives out 3 tests for the semester and weights them 50% of your grade.
Really cheerful and overly passionate. She tries to get to know each one of her students. She will constantly ask if you get the lesson and if you look confused she'll ask you what you don't get. The only bad thing is she hates when students are late to class or talk during her lessons. Don't bother even buying the book.
Overall a good College Algebra Teacher. She goes very in depth explaining things. Her lecture notes were fairly basic but then homework and tests would be more complex. Definitely willing to help you if you visit her office hours. Grades fairly. You need to be willing to work fairly hard to do well in this class but that's all math classes.
She's a really good teacher but she definitely expects you to do your work. If you're having a hard time she is willing to help you but in the end how well you do in this class is up to you. Gave bonus points for good attendence
Blanton is fun in class. There is homework everyday. She is always offering office hours and help sessions. She wants to see her students succeed.
If you want a history lesson in math 135 then she is the professor for you. If you would like a straight forward teaching method then I would avoid this professor. Nice lady just not easily understood. I would advise taking her in class and not iCourse and if you have questions be prepared to ask multiple times.
great teacher, if you skip less than 4 times she gives you 2% added to your final grade, tests aren't bad if you study and know your material, i recommend
Her tests were difficult. They were often times different from what was on the homework.
Weekly homework is around 4-6 hours including watching the videos on Youtube and doing homework on MML. There are total 8 of weekly quiz that you need to turn in, also there are two online tests and three in-class exams through out the semester. There is one extra credit opportunity before final exam. She likes to help out any questions you have.
You might think she is crazy but it works. Take Contemporary Math because she teaches you what buttons to use on the calculator and does not expect you to remember long equations. Also expect a homework assignment every night on My Math Lab they usually aren't too bad though. Take usually 20 to 30 minutes. If you miss class, you will miss notes tho
even though she is completely crazy, it works. be prepared for a lot of homework and she isn't sympathetic about you missing class. However she is able to answer questions you have at any time and really focuses on the fact that the class is about CONTEMPORARY mathematics and makes sure you are very secure about your calculator abilities.
Homework after every lecture, as expected with math. She gives hand outs before every lecture. Makes sure people understand the material. Teaches in a very easy manner to understand and explains not only what you are doing, but why you're doing it. That lady is a blessing!
I loved Mrs Blanton! she taught everything in a way that was easy to understand and really cared about all of her students! She gives extra credit if you miss less than 4 classes and is willing to work with students and answer any questions. If you have to take College Algebra take her!!! Textbook not required but MyMathlab online code is!
This professor is very nice! But she is stern when she needs to be. She's very passionate about math, so she's an excellent instructor. PLEASE DON'T SKIP HER CLASS! You will be terribly lost if you do because she doesn't like to use traditional ways of learning.
She is the greatest math teacher in the world. I have failed this class twice with other professors and she is the only one who really understands non-math majors. She is kind, accessible, and actually cares about you. There is a lot of homework, but there is a LOT of stuff to cover. Would take this class again!
I have taken Mrs. Blanton for both Contemporary Mathematics and History of Mathematics. While I wasn't the biggest fan of her in con., you can tell how passionate she is about the history of mathematics. She is accepting of late work and the only exams you take are the midterm and the final. I would take her for history, not so much con. mathematics
really good teacher but you have to work for the grade you want. test are hard so make sure you study for them but she gives you all the material that you need to to good in the class.
Absolutely amazing. I hate math, but she made it so simple and understandable that I really enjoyed taking this class. She relates the content of her class to real life situations so it makes it at least seem like you will use the concepts in real life ;) LOVE HER AND I COULD NOT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH!!
She's a really good professor and has a passion for math. She will not take class time to go over homework but is very willing to help outside of class. She is very loud and enthusiastic during lecture. There is homework every night and lots of it, but it helps you understand. Don't skip class because you will be lost. She's a good choice.
Very fast moving & doesn't make sense half the time. Ridiculous amount of hw. If you struggle with math even a little, don't take her class. The hw will take hours, and you'll spend so much more time trying to understand what she said in lecture than actually sitting in lecture. After 4 absences, you lose the only extra credit of +3% added to grade
Blanton is a great professor and provides her own set of notes for each lesson. Attendance is important; if you miss four or less classes, 2% of extra credit will be added to your final grade. The homework varies in difficulty, but most of the time you are given five tries to get the question right. Pay attention and go to class to be successful
I'm so bad at math, I had to take this class twice and Patti made it easy! Really cares about her students and will help you. Recorded lectures are really good and help you understand material. Lots of HW, but it's necessary to understand all the material. Tests are VERY reflective of the homework, so if you do well on that, you'll be fine.
Professor Blanton is a great teacher. Probably my favorite in all my 4 years of college. Lots of homework, but it's needed to understand the material. She offers a huge extra credit boost at the end of the semester, but it is time consuming. Overall, the hardest class I've ever taken (I'm so bad at math), but the best professor ever!
The best math professor I've had, and way better than grade school. She explains things very well. Instead of memorizing a load of formulas, she wants you to understand what it is you're doing. This concept was a life savor, for this class and others that ended up coming up later in college.
I wouldnt recommend, just trust me.
This teacher is pretty tough. She wants you to do well but doesn't take time to answer students questions. Wants you to figure it out by yourself. She does group projects so show up to class. She is a nice person but not a very good teacher. I felt as though she would teach only a small part of ch. and homework covered much more.
Good professor that teaches a challenging course. Shes quirky and fun to be in the same room with
Professor Blanton is nice and bring energy to the classroom, even when its early in the morning. She makes sure you dont memorize the material and that you actually understand it. Hands down the best professor Ive had so far.
Blanton is the hardest grader EVER. Shes so rude to her students. I've never received bad grades in math until I had her. Try to switch out if you can!
Overall her teaching style wasn't bad, she is a good teacher. Jury is still out on whether or not she is a good person. She does not work with students on events happening in their life when it comes to her class, even stuff like death in the family. Also there is a lot of assignments every week and tests are a large portion of the grade.
I took MTH 134 online and she was AMAZING! The video lectures were awesome and not very long. The homework helped me to understand better. She really cared about her students, even though it was an online class. She responded to emails and questions quickly. I highly recommend taking the class online with her. Clear notes and easy video lectures.
This math class is extremely technologically heavy. She will fail you if you dont even scan two papers into one pdf. I hope you have access to a printer and scanner because you will need it! This teacher isnt clear on how she grades and will not help with technology AT ALL!
Seemed like a great professor until you reach out to her with questions and she makes you feel like an idiot. Not only that, she gave us the option to contact her if we could not make the final exam in person, and then when I did that, she basically told me I had no choice and must be there. The course is online and I live 3 hours away.
Will be rude if you email her with questions. Gives you a 12 hour ultimatum to turn in assignments when blackboard messes up the files, so I hope you check your email 10 times a day. Exams do not reflect what material is learned, the exams are meant to trick students and not reflect what is in the course.
Was very passive aggressive with students that asked questions. Wouldn't actually help students with questions just work out problems for us and hope that we understood it. I got help from a tutor and even he didn't understand what we were learning.
Stay far away. She is one of the worst professors at MSU. Like others have said, she is SO rude in her email responses and VERY passive aggressive. Her test are nothing like the material. If youre an online student taken her class out of state, just dont. She will FORCE you to drive hours to her approved testing center. Just awful.
I took Professor Blanton's class for a gen ed, but I really enjoyed her personality and teaching. The material itself wasn't hard, and I think she is used to teaching lower-level math courses, so don't worry about her being overly-tough or incommunicative. Just do the work she gives and talk in class, and you'll get by no problem. Great teacher!
Took MTH135 3 times. Had an awful professor the first time but also wasnt giving a lot of effort. Patty holds you accountable and is honest with you on your progress and feedback. Very accessible via email or office hours. She is willing to help if you are willing to ask for it. Work at it outside of class and you will do well. Gem of a teacher
You will do hours of homework that doesn't change grade much. I am confused on how to rate her because she is normally very nice, but very rude and difficult with students through email. So confusing... tests are worth most of the grade in this class but as long as you do the work and never have a scheduling issue then you will be fine.
I didn't do my best on the three exams, so to get my grade up I started studying 2 weeks in advanced for the final. I ended up doing really good on this test, but she accused me of cheating. I did not, I worked hard to achieve a good grade. I don't recommend taking her class, as other students have had bad experiences with her as well.
Stay Far away. The worst professor/teacher. I have ever had in my 15 years of education. I showed up to class everyday and asked questions and then felt like an idiot for asking questions. Will mark answers wrong if you do not do the work her way even though you may have gotten the answer correct another way.
This is by far the most stressful math class I have ever taken and for no reason. Professor Blanton did not actually teach and instead used videos she created from 2018. She will get mad when you're confused and not offer any help. Homework assignments are super long, difficult, and not similar to the tests. Stay away, it isn't worth it!
Do NOT take this professor. She is not helpful at all. It is very difficult to learn anything new from her because she doesn't explain things well and doesn't care if you understand or not. This is a low-level course and yet she grades on a weighted scale. If you don't do good on the test you won't pass this class.
I'm not great at math, and this class didn't really help. She did teach a lot but the assignments are difficult if math is a struggle for you. The tests were also pretty difficult. She engages with her students and respond when you reach out to her.
Instead of helping, shell just tell you to rewatch the lectures. Tests are taken at the testing center. Youll have something to do in this class every single day. You never get a break from this class.
She is passive-aggressive with her emails. If you ask a question she will not answer it and makes it seem like it's an inconvenience to her. I told her my grandma had passed away and might need more time on an assignment and she said that I needed to give her proof. If you do not do it her EXACT way she will count off even if your answer right
Horrible professor and person! She honestly doesnt care about her students and hopes they fail. She makes it impossible to ask questions, because if you do she makes you feel stupid for asking it. She is very snobby and snarky, if you dont do things her way you will not pass this course. Save yourself and your grade. Do NOT take a class with her
I really enjoyed this class. I am pretty good at math, and was only taking this class as a gen ed. There is a homework assignment after every class, but it doesn't take long to do. The tests are long, but have a lot of half-points. She is a little passive aggressive, but overall her personality was memorable and helped me learn the material better.
She was very rude and simply does not care about her students. NEVER TAKE THIS TEACHER
The work required way too much for a 100 level course. The lectures were far too long, and included a lot of time not spent on the subject. Set the video speed at 1.4x, just a heads up. Communication with the instructor was difficult, and often even felt disrespectful. It's forgotten the audience is a college class, not middle school.
Does not care about students. Tests incredibly to hard for this math class. Acts like you are stupid if you ask a question.
When it was pointed out she made mistakes in the reviews she wouldn't take blame and talked down the class. I had a due date mix up that was just as much her fault as it was mine and went back on what she said she would do to fix it. Left passive aggressive notes on tests. I dropped not because of the material but because of her teaching.
she also makes weird noises in class like growling and barking
Professor Blanton is the single worst teacher I have ever had. I am retaking her class and am forced to take her again. She is outright condescending and rude. I have never felt more disrespect from a teacher in my entire school career. Her comments on tests are so passive-aggressive they make me aggressive. DO NOT take her class!
She is very clear in her grading criteria and she doesn't make differences between students. Doesn't give plenty of extra credit opportunities so do your best in tests, homework and projects. Tests are long but all the exercises can be done quickly.
unclear and unhelpful through email or asking questions, also kind of makes you feel idiotic for asking questions in class like dude it's 9 am and you're speaking in riddles my bad if i need some clarification
Professor Blanton is a top-tier Math Professor. She is witty, humorous and respectable. I enjoyed her class a lot. The experience was both memorable and worthwhile. Her class is probably the hardest Math 134 at Missouri State and she covers quite a bit at the end of the semester that is not on the final. Other than that, she's great!
Snarky. Wont help you.
Assigns 80+ problems per week. It's very hard to stay caught up in this class. Tests are worth a lot, and her lecture videos don't go over the lesson material very well. Tests are hard and in-person. She also made a joke about autism in one of her lessons about functions. Please do not take her class, it's not worth the pain and suffering.
If student submits a project incorrectly, she will give you a zero and not inform you that it was submitted incorrectly until the due date already past and points are taken off. Will not accept late work no matter any circumstances.
I took her a while back and realized I never said my peace. This woman was incredibly rude to me over email when she made a scheduling error. I am still thinking of reporting her to the dean. Super passive-aggressive and extremely unprofessional to me. Although this class is super easy, I would not wish this treatment on any other humane being.
I am currently taking Professor Blanton, but so far I don't entirely see what all of the other comments are about. I have enjoyed her class and she has taught it pretty well, at least to a point that I understand. I haven't finished the class yet, so maybe my opinion will change a bit after it finishes.
By far the worst math professor ever. She is extremely passive aggressive over email, not understanding and completely unfair. She grades way too hard and it almost seems as if she is wanting us to fail. Me, along with multiple people in this class, have not done well simply due to the fact that she is a horrible teacher, and a tough grader.
Very snarky, unclear grading criteria
If you do not write equations the way she wants, don't expect to have a good time. The least flexible professor I have ever had. Changes things on a whim for her connivence. If you plan to proctor your exam somewhere else other than the college, be prepared to pay out of your pocket. In my opinion, certainly not online friendly.
Tough class, but she teaches material well. Don't miss any lectures. Do your homework that night while it's still fresh in your mind. Good lectures and thorough teaching style. Lenient grader, will give you a point or two to help boost your grade a bit. Homework every night, 3 unit projects, 4 tests.
She is a very intense and snarky person. No late work will be accepted. I had more work for this class than any of my 300 or 400 level class. She takes her pre-req course so seriously and makes it your problem. Would NOT recommend.
She is so extremely intense. Not worth taking this class. You will be dissapointed.
This professor is one of the worst. She comes across as passive-aggressive, visibly upset when no one knows the answer to her questions. Much of our hw revolves around Excel, with bad explaing. When we struggle she suggests we consult the readings, which is just one or two pages of dense text and overwhelming amounts of homework.
Absolutely awful. I would never recommend her to anyone. She acts like her class is the most important class in the university. Sends snarky emails, not helpful, a giant load of assignments when I'm already juggling other classes. Very rude. The assignments tend to be relatively easy but she makes learning them intense. youtube was my rescue.
This teacher just wants to be treated with respect. Do not try to walk out before being dismissed etc. As long as you treat her with respect and participate in class you have nothing to be afraid of. The subject moves quickly so just make sure you take the time to understand each component before moving on otherwise it could mess up your grade.
Got into this class last minute because of sitting on the waitlist for a month and got into her class.. the assignments never make sense, explains some things but never all of them, instructions are always half made and had to use outside resources for every assignment and its only week 2
While she was not the worst when it came to instruction. Was extremely strict on timing and believing her class was better or above all other classes. Had a family emergency pop up and let her know a month in advance for it, asked what I could do early or if there were other days all she said was no and it'll be a 0.
Devil, do not recommend
She's the worst professor. I would absolutely never recommend her class!
Professor Blanton runs a tough class, but staying engaged and using helpful study tools like unstuckstudy can make it manageable. Attend every lecture, do the homework, and you'll get through it.
She's a tough old lady for sure, but if you actively listen to her lectures and often participate in her class, you'll pass easily. It's a relatively easy math class, easier if you pay attention.
Discusses grandchildren/football/hobbies/few math examples during lectures. Paid for nothing- burned hours watching youtube videos from others to learn material. Classic white-tower, self-indulgent trope of a professor- paper margin settings/grammar rather than subject material- drain on energy and your patience- I got the grade but left jaded.
This professor is the worst. Do not take it especially her Hybrid class. I have never had to drop a class but this one. She thinks her class is the only important one and is extremely passive aggressive. She does not teach well either. Stay Away from her class.
I actually enjoyed math all throughout high school, but the first day I met Patti, my love turned into hatred. I put HOURS into trying to learn the concepts and had to use Khan Academy to understand... I am so glad I decided that two months was enough of this and dropped the class. RIP my $1400 I will never get back as well as my love for math.
90% of people can NOT learn with her. She has zero exceptions for anything. Expect 3-5 hours of Homework to do each week. She crashes out at times during lectures if we don't do good on exams or quizzes like its the students fault for not being taught well. Do NOT take Patti ever.
Patti Blanton was by far the worst professor I've ever had. She yelled at the class multiple times, growled at us, and embarrassed people when they asked questions. I'm sure she is a nice person outside of teaching, but I strongly suggest to never take her class.
Patti Blanton puts learning over grades. Her class uses videos, notes, and examples to help you truly understand. MTH134 is time-heavy but worth it if you put in the effort. Take it in person—her teaching style works best that way. Use her materials and stay consistent weekly.
Many people talk badly about her, and there are some strange things about her, but if you do the homework and go to class, you'll be fine. If you have to miss a day, make sure to turn in anything early, or she won't take it. Don't cheat on the homework, or you'll be lost in class and on the test since everything builds on previous lessons.
Blanton and others like her are the reason why this site exist. She assigns an obscene amount of work every week. For music and STEM majors, it is essentially impossible to meet her quota. She treats her entry level classes as if they are more important than any other. She sends rude and passive aggressive emails. Beware- do not take this class.
I really enjoyed Patti's class. She was a bit harsh at times, but she genuinely cares for her students + wants to help them. I got an A after just doing the homework and paying attention in the lectures. The homework helps a lot and it really helps you understand the concepts better. Too much Excel though!!
Patti Blanton is the worst teacher I've ever had. She threw a fit mid-class and started swearing at the entire class, then cut class short. Funnily enough, we got all of her in-class pop quiz questions correct, so I have no clue why she threw a temper tantrum. She has the attitude of a child; not a civilized adult teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
