Professor Gillespie is a great teacher who really wants to see you improve in her class. Personally, this class isn't an easy A and you'll have to work fairly hard to get a good grade. However, if you're passionate about drawing you'll definitely get better by taking this course and listening to the information.

She grades mainly on participation and whether or not you simply completed assignments. I felts papers werent graded strictly, however just graded based on creativity, I received full points in every assignment I completed so far

She was excellent at communicating with the class on what she expected from us.

This was a pretty easy class. Just show up and do the assignments and it's a easy class. Seeing other art was really fun! Kind of wish we did more art in class rather than the lectures and then the projects at home just because I didn't have all the supplies I might have needed for the projects.

This class was really easy. Theres no quizzes or exams. The professor is super friendly and nice and very understanding. I would definitely take this class again its an easy A as long as you show up and do your assignments.

I honestly feel a bit bad for dozing off in class but the PowerPoint lecture slides at 9 A.M. did not help. That being said, professor Gillespie was a great professor and knew what she was talking about. You can tell that she loves what she does and is very knowledgeable. She makes sure to clearly cover all of the units and is very understanding.

Art 1010 was super easy. One page (double spaced) assignments every few weeks, as well as a few actual art projects. If you're looking for a hands-on, lots of art projects class, this one isn't for you. It's more information and history about art throughout the years. Professor Gillespie is super nice and accommodating. Easy A

Professor Patti Gillespie was my Art 1010 instructor. I found her to be an expert in her field, very knowledgeable, very organized, not afraid to challenge the status quo (in the good way), and overall a very professional and hardworking professor and person.

Overall an easy A if you stay up with the course work.

Patti is a great professor. She Knows a lot about art and comes up with fun/intersting assignments. The lectures are a bit long and can get a little boring but overall this class was good and an easy A with simple participation.

I loved professor Gillespie, she's super fun and cares about her students. All of the assignments had clear instructions and are easy to understand!

Straight forward grading system, she does have four two-page papers due. Which initially was difficult to due for art for me, but I think that's the point. At this point I have more to say about art through her course I have found my voice through art. Con: ngl the videos she plays makes me nod off though I don't think that's due to the content.

Classes are mostly just powerpoints being read to you, but she is pretty engaging. Very helpful with grading and making sure you can pass the class

She is very nice and accommodating. She gives 3 free passes in regards to late work or missed assignments. The discussions are worth most of your grade so do them on time and you will be fine.

Professor Gillespie is AWESOME!! I had an online course so our attendance was technically our weekly work of art discussions. She gives 3 free passes to use for any missed work of art discussions, which is very helpful. There are 4 art projects and 4 2-page papers which are pretty easy. Her feedback is great, and the class was amazing overall.

You really learn a lot in this class! It is pretty lecture heavy, but the assignments are all pretty easy. I really liked all of the art projects we had to do and she grades them mainly based on participation. She really knows a lot about art and you can tell she is passionate about what she does which is really good.

I really liked this class. Its pretty lecture heavy, but she tries to keep you interested in the coursework by watching interesting videos and having us make art. She has several writing assignments, but she is only grading on whether you understand the material, not how well you write. Just make sure you come to class and put in effort.

Patti was awesome! I have no artistic ability but that was not an issue. She seems to grade you based of your participation and how involved you are! If you put in the work she will give you full credit. She was awesome!

Most of what this class was, was reading about artists and giving our interpretations and opinions on them. Definitely an easy class, my downfall was the way she graded the discussions. Your initial response is due wednesday and you have to respond to two people by Sunday and the assignment just shows due sunday so i would always forget.

There was 4 papers you had to write and 4 art projects. and 11 discussion topics for each week. I took this class online during summer. It was easy to pass

Awesome! Patti gives amazing feedback after grading each project. Long but insightful readings. This is an active class which means that you do have to participate on weekly discussions. She gave me pointers of what to do next time which helped me develop my skills. Don't hesitate on choosing her as your professor!

Make sure to stay on top of all the assignments. That is something I could've greatly improved on. Professor Gillespie is very understanding of her students and the assignments are very straightforward.

This professor is awesome super helpful and hears you out if you reach out to her about the right reasons. The assignment are super easy as long as you pay attention and do the right and on time and there super easy assignment. Anyway awesome course I loved it.

Since it was online, it was 90% reading. There were a few videos, but it was all online reading. The reading was available for free, though. The assignments were fun and easy, and it was a fun, simple class. I enjoyed the art projects, as well.

Professor Gillespie was amazing to work with. This semester I had the wedding of my brother in law, the birth of a new child, and my anniversary and was able to get everything done in a timely manner because everything is easily accessible & very specific. She responds quickly, & provides awesome feedback on everything done. Awesome class

She was great. She always left feedback on assignments. Was very clear on what she wanted on finished papers. Our art projects were left up to our imagination and as long as you put effort into it very easy.

I loved having this class. We had a short essay due every week, but no tests. Be sure to stay on top of your work because you aren't able to turn in late work on time. She gives good feedback with her grades and always leaves fun comments. The class can be boring sometimes, but that is probably due to the fact that i took it at 5. But still fun!

There's a ton of lecture and almost (if not all) of the classwork is done outside the classroom, though the assignments are usually easy. The late policy is not it, extremely strict and you end up losing assignments if you submit late (at all). The professor is pretty good, don't have any complaints about her. Just not fond of the late policy.

I loved taking this class from her, it was very easy to pass if you do the work. She doesn't grade harshly on projects which is good if you're not good at art.

She did very well at making class interesting even though it was very lecture heavy. There are plenty of opportunities to get extra credit or get your work done ahead of time. Class was interesting to me but, it is definitely more lecture and not a lot of actually making art. It's more learning about forms of art and art history.

This Professor teaches with kindness and passion. She loves to teach and is very understanding about late work, technical difficulties but will not take it for granted. She treats her students with respect and always gives great feedback to help improve and take a deeper look at the art works she presents.

Ms. Gillespie is awesome!! Just do your work on time and you will be set for this class. The assignments don't take a long time at all. I really liked her. Be sure to have a good relationship with her it will make things a lot easier. Also when writing papers make sure not to use everyday vocabulary.

I personally really liked Professor Gillespie and her class. It was interesting to learn about different art pieces you usually never hear about. There are several discussions you write weekly, but they are not difficult to do. Attendance is mandatory/ for a grade, so I would keep going even though a lot of people don't after a few weeks.

You do not need to be a skilled artist to succeed in this class! Prof. Gillespie is incredibly clear with rubrics and will give great credit to artwork as long as it is clear that you put in effort. Assignment instructions and due dates are always clear and extra credit opportunities are still made available.

This class was easy to get an A as long as you do the work. Professor Patti was a great teacher and would get back to you quickly if you had any questions. You have a paragraph to do on a subject in the discussion and either a two page paper to write or an art project to do each week.

Clear instructions/grading criteria, insightful, and concise

A nice lady who presents her material well. Projects are fun and make you think about how colors interact with each other. One piece of advice I'd give is to have access to white lighting so you can do these assignments without "clouded" judgement in that sense.

Every week we would have a new art style or technique and would have lecture and watch videos about it then our assignment for the week would be based on what we talked about in class during the week. This style of teaching was super helpful to understanding everything we were learning. Great class and great professor.
