She is very helpful and a fun teacher to have. She gives a lot of quiz on every chapter and you do alot group work.
Oh My god~ I got a B in english class by my own!! highly recommanded. She is nice. Remember, if you did put in effor she give you what you expected! On final project, don't care too much, just do it. It doesn't has to be nice at all!
patti is extremely helpful. she cares about her students and wants them to do well. i loved her speech class.
So easy, and hot as hell
patti is way hot. i had her last semester. best comm class you can take. easy, fun and never boring. she gives a decent amount of work, but it is worth it.
shes an awsome teacher. very cute, looks like older jessica simpson kinda. lots of extra credit, and fun projects. i recomend her
way to much work. we did more speaking then was required, she was unpredictable on grading and gave no As, even a good speech would receive a C or D, the grades were unjust and unfair, i would never take her again.
Take her 9 week class, fun, fast, and worth taking!!! Has one test, speeches aren't very hard, helps, explains what we read, no homework, very fun lectures, even a 3 hour class, goes by FAST...worth taking
It is a fun class and she is a cute and interesting teacher, but a hard grader. Only one or two people got A's in the full class. She uses occasional profanity. Required journals give her access to students' private thoughts unless they make it all up. Overall, thumbs up for a likeable teacher.
If every teacher looked like this I would never leave college. Sophisticated, older Jesicca Simpson look alike with twice the curves. Clear instruction. Fun class presentations. If you followed instructions you would get at least a "B" grade. But overall just way too hot to be a teacher.
Very very H-O-T, teaches fairly well, know her material...makes you present and tries to boost up your confidence. Easy to get a B if you understand what's going on. Nice body and appearance. Excellent curves ;).
Perfect balance... this class is amazing ... Informative, common knowledge, all you have to do is think outloud, say whats on your mind, and figure it out... If you have a voice... use it, oh yeah great for a good debate...
Great class so far and the class is getting more and more interesting. I am glad I am taking her again for my comm requirements.
patty is awesome, easy going has great teaching skills interesting, and class discussions. i am an administration of justice major and i took pattys class for fun.... i guess having a sister in the same class is always helpful :)
great teacher and very knowledgable. also class was very practical and fun to participate in. btw.. shes pretty hot

She is so cool. She is easy grader. Right now I am taking her nine week clas; I have A. The semester is almost over. Homework and assign are based on pass or fail grade. The assignments are easy to do within matter minutes. If you make some effort, you will get "A" on the assignment. No late hmwk. The speeches are not that hard. Fun class!! :)
An absolutely miserable class. She took 5 points off of all my speeches just because I wore glasses. She even told me that was the reason. She did everything she could to make me fail Comm. 301. I still have a 4.0 GPA but that was the worst class I've taken here. She is the ONLY truly sh**ty professor that I know at SCC.
She seemed to be very knowledgable regarding the material, so I'm not sure why she relied on the book so much. She was happy to clarify the assignments, but I still had trouble with alot of them anyway, because the class is as much about theories as their application, which I did not enjoy, and the assignments, although not unreasonable were hard.
great teacher. took her in 9 weeks and got a high B. then i did the extra credit lab and i got an A. take her. i barely prepared for alot of my speeches but i still ended up doing well. she works with you. very nice, funny, shes pretty, and a great teacher. take her.
great class!shes a really nice lady, and doesnt ask too much of you.the class helps a lot with being comfortable in front of groups.its a fun class, everyone should try it!!
She teaches alright.Does not really help with speech prep.&grades very hard. She gives take home exams which are cool but if u miss them, they become your final paper (which is EXTREMELY UNFAIR) becoz she does not tell you anything about what to expect. its not easy to get an A in the class, unless you become her pet!!
She's very helpful. Just do the HW and look at class notes for the quiz. Its easy to get an A. For the final paper follow the format she suggest in class with examples from your meeting you'll ace it .Plus the oral report you get full credit for the paper and talk just for presenting. Don't spend too much time analyzing. You'll get 50 pts for it
Easy class, great teacher. If you had questions about ANYTHING, all you had to do was ask. The papers were simple and graded reasonably. She loves to just chat and relate to her students after class as well as helping them. Definitely recommended.
She's really an amazing teacher, and she's actually very masterful when giving a speech herself. She is helpful when prepping the speeches, and doesn't really grade too hard on them. Just try to put in a little effort, and she'll appreciate it!
Awesome teacher, gave extra credit and give everyone a chance to get an A. Not too hard on grading her stuff, if u would just put in a bit of work and if she know that u are trying she'll pass u.
She is a good teacher. not one test, she said the speeches were the test. no required reading, just get the book to help you. she is easy to approach but i believe she is liberal because i did a speech on guns and i did it well, but i got a D on that speech. She graded me completely unfair on it, the only thing i needed work on was eye contact b
Patti is a crack up! She really has great rapore with her students. She is really open and brings her personal experiences into her teaching to facilitate your learning.
Expects you to put time and effort into your speeches. Willing to help if asked. Easy to reach during and after regular school hours. Even if this course isnt your subject matter, she is fairly easy to understand and simple to understand what is expected of you.

I never bought the book and I still got an A. There was only 1 test and it didn't really affect your grade. Grade pretty much based on speeches and a journal you turn in once every 2 weeks. There were 2 individual speeches, an informative and a persuasive both 6-8 minutes each and 1 group speeh. fun interesting class. really cool, down to earth pro
she is so easy and a fun class! Only 5 speeches and you have the option if you want to do a 5 to 10 pages essay or go to a speech night and compete with other students. I highly recommend this professor. I will miss her :(
honestly-i didnt like her class because she was always late and cancelled frequently, but if ur looking to get an easy A take her! i didnt even finish the class and i still got a D, imagine if i tried(i will be taking her again)my best advice is to make this ur last class of the day so theres no disappointment when she doesnt show..
excellent, easy a for the most part
realy cool teacher
I took Professor Redmond for Fall 2008. She is EXCELLENT at her job. I highly recommend her. It is a fun class too.
She's super nice and the class is really easy. She gives 1 test that only covers the first few chapters. 1 quick intro speech to the class, 1 informative and 1 persuasive speech to a small group of about 5 or 6(she doesn't even listen to it), & 1 group speech. You also keep a journal to turn in every 2 weeks. This class is so easy.
She's the best Communications teacher at City, and the best looking red head ever but that's neither here nor there. She's very knowledgeable, super dooper nice, charasmatic and the work is easy. As long as you make an attempt to try to pass her class, you will.
super-easy and fun class, and you learn about yourself and how you can effectively communicate others on a regular basis, and you actually get to know your classmates way better than in a regular class. It's basically all the COMM classes combined into one. Oh and we have a potluck...hello, free food!! And Patti is way better looking than Jessica S
I loved this class and I learned a lot from Patti. I would recommend her to anyone and hope to take her public speaking class.
PATTI REDMOND FOR CONGRESS!! She's the best thing since sliced bread and I'm not sugar coating it, fun and entertaining class.
I love her! She is so helpful and understanding! She will always have a special place in my heart. At the time of taking her class I was breastfeeding a newborn, and I needed a place to pump and store my milk at school. People were so rude and unwilling to help me. Patti changed that and gave up her own office during her lunch so I could pump there
Loved this teacher! She gives good lectures and very good examples. Easy to approach and talk to! Quizzes are 10 true or False questions! Easy! Final is a paper! Easy! TAKE HER!
I love Patti!! she is such a great teacher :) she is such an understanding and caring teacher and realizes that things happen and works with you to help you when you need it!! i totally recommend her, she is hilarious and makes class fun and interesting.. A++++++++++
Thee Best teacher I would have to say. She's so understanding and if you need help she's there for you! She has a great way of teaching the class. She's funy and she makes the class interesting! I LOVE HER! I would take her class again! :)
She is a great teacher, very funny and open-minded. She understands her students and will do he best to help the succeed. TAKE HER! Fun speech topics too.
I actually like this professor, and I do prefer her to anyone. Her exams are base on concepts, which can be difficult, but her assignments for speech is fun. Although for some reason she gives me a bad vibe. Overall, she's great!
This woman is amazing. i would take any class of hers. we may start nervous but by the end we all know each other and have almost no fear. take her class i always hear COMM 301 is a bad class but not with patti ill vouch that she is a goddess.
This is my third class I took with her! Everyone thinks public speaking is so bad, but Patti makes it so easy and fun. She's great! I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take at least one class with her! She's the bomb.com! :)
Exciting, Fun, Helpful, Funny, makes the course interesting, just Amazing!
Class was a four week course. Brown bag and toast speeches was easy and fun. Very resourceful.
Excellent professor! Make sure you incorporate everything she asks and you're golden. Available via email or office hours and willing to help. Listen to feedback and take her suggestions, you may lose points otherwise.
For a professor of speech, I would have expected a more liberal approach to the marijuana discussion in class. She not only mentioned using cannabis, without being prompted by the class, but she went out of her way to say that she would try and have a student expelled for using it as a speech topic. This is California, get with the program lady!
A very great speech teacher. She's understanding and fun. Her speech topics aren't so bad. Overall, I would recommend her to students who are not really comfortable with public speaking.
Great teacher, great class. If you're a guy, try not to get distracted by those nice big, um...projectors in the classroom :)
She's alright
Good teacher, got me over fear of public speaking more or less. Cold days, super awesome, does matter if she has a sweater on or a sun dress. clarity needs refining, put students memory of self analyzing and time of class. Overall good class just show up everyday or you will fall behind and in grade level.
Great class, nice teacher; definitely helps you become better at public speaking & writing speeches. She knows her stuff! You get in groups often, but it helps before you have to actually get up to speak in front of the class on your own. Need to put effort into your speeches, especially the informative & persuasive, but it is really not too hard!
Professor Redmond is not the easiest teacher, but she is a good one! If you want to really expand your public speaking skills I can't recommend someone more than her. She's very clear in what she expects from you and helps you get there.
Professor Redmond is a very understanding. Few homework assignments. Tests are not easy, I suggest reading the book before taking the test. 3 Group Presentations and 1 Group Project. Overall, a recommended class to take.
Patti was the first professor I had in college. She made my first semester experience amazing! I thouroughly enjoyed her COMM class, most of her assignments are fun and challenge you to dig deep inside yourself. She goes through the text book fast, so I definitly reccomend reading the material before class. I highly encourage students to take her!
I took Patti after reading the good reviews and they misled me. Worst teacher Ive ever had. Being in her class wasn't worth the A. She came off rude and had attitude problems when my friends and I asked her questions. your speeches in class will only be listened to by your peers, because she grades papers or goes online while you do them.
I thought this course was fairly easy because of the extra credit she gives us. Low textbook use but make sure you study for exams because they are challenging!
Really sweet and funny professor! She's not afraid to be real in class and talk to you like an adult. Attendance not necessarily mandatory unless there's an activity or exam scheduled on the syllabus. Easiest part is the journal you have to keep while reading the textbook. Don't just go off lecture notes, be sure to also read on your own for tests!
Mrs. Redmond lets you know exactly whats she wants for homework assignments and if your responsible she is very flexible.
Easy A if you make sure to turn everything in on time. She is very chill and relaxed but can be harsh on grading. txt book is never used, but there is extra credit. try your best because she grades of off effort. take this teacher, can sometimes feel like she doesnt want to help but will always answer any question you have. Fun class. Really enjoy
Great teacher with a lively and funny personality. She's a great teacher and you should have no problem in her class. The work is fairly easy and the lectures she gives are clear and easy to understand. But beware, she can get off track during the lectures and go on about some hilarious tale of the past so be sure to study at home also!
If you are looking for an incredibly easy class, this is it; However, it is very easy to get a B and very hard to get an A. She is a TOUGH grader. You only have to do 6-8 min TWO speeches and one 2 min speech. This is unheard of for a comm 301 class. Extra credit oppurtunities.
She is not an easy teacher. She is a nice woman, but she grades really harshly. Half way through the semester not one person had an A. I did not learn much. But she knows her stuff. She kind of just throws you into the speech instead of explaining how to do it. i like her but idk if i would take her again.
she talks about her family wayy too much. i learned more about her family and personal life than the actual material. her ppt notes are pretty much worthless, read the book in preparation for tests. tests are somewhat easy, no study guide tho. there are activities, 2 essays: a cultural analysis and an outside book essay, and 3 exams.
The teacher was okay, besides taliking about her family too much. She knows her stuff, but was not really helpful. Her tests are very difficult, too much reading. Speeches are not hard. If you want easier class and good grade, this is not it.
Pattie is the most dedicated and helpful teacher I have ever had. I had no trouble with the tests, no trouble comminicating concerns with her, and I learned a whole lot about the subject. I HIGHLY recommend taking any and ALL classes you can from her. Love love LOVE her attitude. All material is comprehensive, text is used, participation encouraged
The instructor is not passionate about her subject. It makes the class boring. Tough grader. Did not learn much. Wouldn't take any more of her classes.
Great attitude, very helpful, easy to understand, and extremely friendly. Overall, a great teacher.
Patti is one of the best professors on campus, and she is nothing if not consistent. She lets you know exactly what she expects from you and wants you to be responsible and a critical thinker. Do all of your homework, show up to class, and read the textbook (it's actually really good). Makeup exams are given on the day of the final. LOVED this prof
This has to be one of the most down to earth professors on campus. Very pragmatic and realistic in her teaching style. Unlike alot of professors, she has not become out of touch with reality. I would take her again and again definately.
I took one of her courses before this course and got a C. I tried harder in another course and got the A I wanted. She's to the point. If you don't do your assignments your grade will drop and there's barely any extra credit. Do all your work with effort and you will succeed!
Not many professors are willing to listen, as a Communication professor this is very important. Redmond is a willing professor to change things up a bit if everyone is failing. She gives ample time to turn things in late, and ample opportunities for extra credit. Her syllabus is balanced so that everyone will be able to pass the class.
Professor Redmond is awesome. She does make you work hard for the grade though, always takes attendance. She will always help you if you ask for it.
Here's the deal with her intercultural class. Show up, make friends, do your weekly journal entries(when they're assigned, not the night before its due!), atleast look like your taking notes, and thats really it. Her lectures are BORING but everything she mentions will be on her 3 exams. Do all the above and you'll pass with an"A".
Professor Redmond is very nice to all of her students. Her test are very tough so read read read. She made the class do journal entries for each chapter in the class and is due when the tests are being taken. Does give points if you show up to class so don't miss any. She gives out a ton of extra credit, I advise if you're terrible at test taking.
I love Patti. She was willing to change my presentation a class earlier than my actual date and was really keen on positive feedback for students. Even though the class was pretty tough to speak in front of, she made it a delight. Quizzes are we, just score above average (B) and you'll do alright.
good prof; i have taken 4 classes of hers & persuasion was the only bad class bc there is a huge super important semester long GROUP CAMPAIGN (plus tests were rlly hard) DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO (and if you hate long group projects) redmond is a good prof but the class was horrible & the content was boring. avoid if possible
her intercultural communication class is pretty much like a therapy session where topics regarding communication styles among different cultures are addressed. Many sensitive yet interesting topics are covered and at the end, and you'll probably be more aware and wise in terms of how you communicate. Lectures are so boring but she is fantastic.
She's an awesome teacher and her lectures are always very enjoyable. She tends to do a lot of activities and she determines attendance that way, so if you take her class DON'T miss it! She's a tough grader but if you show up and finish the assignments you will do well (:
Not a Comm major? Then skip her. She hardly gives out A's. Her lectures suck. She talks about her family a lot. 5-10 page essay for final. Quizzes have nothing to do with readings. Harsh grader on presentations. Seriously don't know how she got such great reviews. Do not take her! I repeat, do no take her!
She is one of the most inspirational professors I have ever had. Her lectures relate to real life events, so they are not boring. You gain points by being in class and participating in the in class work which are all eye openers; mostly self life quizzes. You need to read the book to pass the exams.
She's a nice person and all but her class sucks. She barely gives A's and her lectures...I mean, what lectures? She barely teaches anything. I know a guy who had food poisoning the day he was supposed to present, even went to the ER, and she still wouldn't let him make it up. He failed the assignment. I'd reconsider taking this professor.
She was okay I guess. Just be prepared to read the required text, because the majority of her lecture is her telling personal stories and she won't mention a lot of what pops up on the tests. Especially since the multiple choice answers almost all seem like they can be the correct answer.
I loved this class. Creates a curriculum that makes you more and more comfortable with speaking in front of an audience. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Classes are very laid back and conversational. You get points just for showing up! Only 2 exams. Would definitely recommend all around.
I have taken Redmond twice, and will take one of her classes the next chance I get! Her exams are tough but she offers so much extra credit you have some wiggle room. Her classes always have fun activities and lectures are interesting. She isn't a stickler on attendance! Highly recommend her. She is literally the greatest comm teacher at SCC.
Professor Redmond made public speaking fun and enjoyable. Only three speeches for the entire semester and two written tests. I didnt buy the textbook and still passed the tests, but I don't suggest doing this. I highly recommend taking Patti's class if you are anxious about taking Comm301.
She was an amazing professor, I learned a lot and she gave so many chances to improve and work hard for a better grade. Lots of textbook reading, tests are based on it. One big project, but it is so important in learning the material fully. If she teaches another class I need, I am taking her again.
what a wonderful professor!! she makes class fun! but don't mistake that for being easy. i sure worked hard to receive the grade i got. don't ditch the textbook until last minute. your book will be your BFF for the entire semester.
I took this professor a few times and I can tell you from my past experiences that she is the most caring, inspired, motivation professor I've ever had. Making college for me a breeze! She cares abt each of her students. You can talk to her during office hours. She will put everything aside and listen. She taught me to become patient and to listen.
You can get bad grades on her midterm and final and still pass with a B. There is a decent amount of work to do as homework, but its easy work, and stimulates critical thought from the lessons learned through discussion and reading. Mandatory to come to class as some points are in class assignments. This Professor stimulates classroom discussion.
She is such a nice lady. At the beginning of the semester she seems like she is harsh and aggressive but she's all bark no bite. Really cares that her students pass the class. She is willing to work with the students learning styles and needs. Some of the assignments do require a lot of work and preparation on your own time, but she is very fair.
This class was one of my favorite because she was nice and she was friendly for everyone. In this class had three presentations total, for the first 2 presentations, you have to do research papers a lot, type a lot, n give 6-8 minutes speech. Students in class will ask questions. it's easy, and I would like to take her again for COMM311. Got A :)
Professor Leonard made Comm 325 very understandable and easy to comprehend. There's three tests throughout the whole semester, and about 75% or more of the questions on the test are from her weekly quizzes that are worth 10 pts each. Her quizzes are not tough if you have the textbook, you can scan through the pages to answer each question.
simply the best. It is a performance class that means you will have to talk at least 4 times in class. It is worth it. she is great provides great feedback simply the best. and a big free extra credit at the end.
You get the grade you work for in this class. I wish I could take her for all of my COMMS classes. She is very insightful and really cares about helping students out if they want to learn. I very much enjoyed this class and will be taking more of her classes in the future.
Overall, great professor. Helped me with my public speaking problems and to become a better speaker. Wanted a lot of audience involvement in class during lectures and would always get it. Best professor I've had at SCC. Always looked forward to going to that class
When Prof. Leonard said to trust her, TRUST HER! She made this class go by so quick that I almost forgot about my fear of public speaking. I enjoyed every lectures, the knowledge, and the funny stories! If you want a Professor who makes a class enjoyable especially to get rid of you fear of public speaking, take Prof. Leonard! You'll love her!
The class was really great until about half way through. She came across very nice and communicated frequently. Then all of a sudden the drop date passed and it was radio silence. She stopped communicating the reason for getting certain grades to us. It was one of the strangest things I have ever witnessed. Just a flip in personality.
Overall enjoyed her class! You will absolutely love her she's funny, caring, and is probably the best COMM teacher out here. You won't regret it, just make sure you do what she recommends and you'll do fine
I took her online class and its pretty easy for the most part. She doesnt accept late work but she offers extra credti at the end of the semester. Only gives three test and the questions are from previous quizzes.
Professor Leonard does a great job at making understanding persuasion easy. The class consists of reading a chapter and writing a discussion board post on it, then a quiz. I learned so much and it was totally doable for a busy schedule!
Shes amazing, she will make you feel comfortable when giving speeches. Her grading is reasonable and feedback is amazing
