If you have the teacher read all you papers a day before you turn them in she will correct your paper so you can go home and fix it. If you look like you are trying hard and have a lot of interaction with the teacher you will do well.

Patty Golder is wonderful teacher. Her class is challenging, but I learned so much in it that I use in all of my other classes. She really appreciates students that she can see trying and giving their best.

Great teacher. She was very fair with assignments. A little too feminist for me, but I would take her again.

Had her my first semester, and she is still one of my favorite teachers I have had here.

I took Patty for both semesters of English. She was so great that I even took her 7 AM class! Makes class fun and interesting even though theres a lot of work to do. Lots of essays, but they werent bad because they were interesting topics.

Golder is still by far the best teacher I had at VVC. Her class was so fun and interesting, even at 7 in the morning!!!! She is very helpful and wants to see her students do well

truth is she expects work. At times her essay topics, deadlines and what she expected was NOT clear at all. I liked how honest she was and how exciting class could be, She is hilarious and takes time to check ur essays. She is very sincere at helping u and proofreading papers. If u can act like an adult and r at school 2 learn, take her. no joke.

Patty is a very good teacher. There have been a few times where I was sick and needed to catch up. She helped me and told me how to do the right. As long as you get the work done she will not have problem. I enjoy going to her class it is at 8 in the morning but it is fun and interesting. She is an excellent professor and I would recommend her.

Very easy teacher to take. I took her in English 50, currently finishing my 101 semester with her, and plan to take English 104 in the Spring with her for the third time. You will learn a lot from this teacher. Just make sure you write all your essays (which aren't boring topics btw) and you have the class made. She also has a sense of humor.

She makes the class FUN!! She also cares about her students greatly. She is VERY VERY clear about what she expects from the students. She is also very clear when she assigns work IF you do not understand she will explain it, but if you do the work wrong its entirely on you because she is just so clear it leaves no room for error.

She is one tough bird! There is definetly no slacking in her class. English is my favorite subject and I had to work my tooshie off the earn a C in her class. She has very high expectations for her students, which is good. I learned many things in her class. She is tough but she is fair.

ONLY take Golder if you are honest, good with due dates, have an opinion and can respect other's opinions. She is extremely helpful if you ask her for help she will help without a problem. It's always one paper after another but they are all fun and interesting. I have learned way more in her class than in any other classes i've taken at VVC.

Only take Golder if you want to work hard and receive the grade you DESERVE. At first I thought she favorited students and it wasn't that all. She loves to hear the opinions of others, if you have strong opinions take this class. All in all she is a wonderful teacher and really cares about who students succeeding. Don't take this class if you are a slacker. Patty has no tolerance for late work or lack of class participation. Be ready to think and express your opinion for controversial discussions. On the other hand,if you're ready to apply yourself, ask questions, accept constructive criticism, and learn to write correctly, Patty is amazing.

Must have an opinion if not you WILL have a hard time with this class; it is okay to change your opinion. Must not be afraid to speak up or in front of class. Demands for everyone to respect each other. There's about 45 papers. All interesting topics, book is a MUST. MLA and research always needed.

4-5 papers all semester, that's both in class writing assignments and 3 out of class writing assignments. Gives fantastic feedback and is always willing to help if you ask for it. Always makes sure students are crystal clear with the instructions. Book is somewhat of a must and one presentation in class(group presentation. She Rocks!

I took Golder in the fall and got a B in her class. I have learned a lot about writing and I enjoyed having as a teacher that I am taking her this Spring semester for 101. A lot of people find her to be tuff and her class hard, but if you follow deadline and come to class it makes it easier.

I took Ms. Golder's class during the winter semester, which is only 6 weeks long. If you are not good at writing essays don't take this class in 6 weeks! She is a good person and was willing to help. The only draw back to this class was her strict grading on the essays, but her strict grading criteria did make me become a better writer. Know MLA!

Toughest grader i've ever met but its worth it. ASK HER TO CLARIFY WHAT NOTES SHE WRITES ON YOUR PAPER. It might not mean what you think it does. You cannot slack in this class at all. One missing paper has a major impact on your grade. Best English class I've ever taken. You can find the textbook online.

Best teacher ive ever had. Her papers are frequent and plentiful but they are such good topics and she wants deep heart felt discusion. There is ALOT of researxh put into them but its fine because its interesting.

Mrs. Golder is a tough grader. I do not not say that as a put down, but as a good thing. The corrective criticism is awesome on her part and for the student if you are taking your classes seriously and are thinking of transferring to a four year University. She will grade and make sure you are prepared for the next level. A great person.

She is funny & all but her class is pretty tough. The whole semester we wrote essays ranging from 4-10 pages. The whole class puts together an outline & then everyone takes a copy home & you write your essay based on that. Shes a tough grader. You need to try your hardest on every essay, go over it atleast 100 times and have others read it too.

Golder is possibly one of the best professors when it comes to English. She is a tough grader, but that is what makes her great. She is not afraid to give students a bad grade if their essay wasn't great. I recommend to always take notes in this class, and always ask questions if you need help.

Patty has helped me with my writing and by taking Eng 101 and 1014H I can clearly see the difference in my essays. Her discussions in class make you critically think. The fact that she grades pretty tough and expects a lot from you essays is what has helped me tremendously. If you like a challenge then I suggest taking Patty!

Patty is the best teacher ever. Yes she gives a lot to write, but that is the way she teaches. I am not done with class yet, but I wanted to write this comment to the students that are looking for good professor. Do not hesitate on taking English classes with patty, she is awesome. Truly golden. She is an excellent lecturer and intellect to learn from. I've never seen a class brought together so close than I have from this Honors class. She is tough because she respects the intelligence of the students and brings out the potential of those who really want it. There are group projects so having a Google account is paramount.

Golder is one of the most down to earth teachers I've had. She's really strict on her grading, so it is important to be on it and take note of all of the grade marks on your essays. When she marks something down on your paper, it is IMPORTANT to fix it on your next paper. Both your writing and grade will improve, guaranteed!

Great teacher. Not an easy class, especially to take during the winter, but she really forces you to learn and become a better writer. Winter class is a whole lot of papers in a short amount of time, but she gives lots of feedback and is really funny.

Professor Golder is an extremely tough grader, but not because she hates you. She wants your writing to get better. Funny and cusses sometimes in class, isn't afraid to make a joke and lighten the mood. DO YOUR WORK. She likes class discussion and feedback. Take a joke. Very very very good class.

At first i was actually scared of Patty. I thought she was going to be a teacher from Hell. Was i wrong! As a teacher she'll make you work for your grade but gives good feedback and let you know exactly what she wants from you. As a person she is the sweetest and i'm glad i was able to take her!

English 101 with Professor Golder is a very tough class when it comes to your essays and how specific her essay grading is (grammar, punctuation, etc.). She doesn't give homework unless for some odd reason you ask for it, but be prepared for 5 or so essay assignments. Tough class but very beneficial if you want to improve your writing skills.

Golder's class is a challenge, but you learn something new in every lecture. Yes she's a tough grader, but she does it to push you and bring out your potential. She's sweet and funny which makes the class fun to be in, regardless of the essays we have to do. Take her if you really want REAL writing skills.

You must be present for her class or you definitely won't pass the class. She is a great professor but her class won't be easy not recommended for lazy people or people looking for an easy A. Textbooks are mandatory because she requires you to read the stories all the time and reference them for essays. She is a hard essay grader as well but fair.

This class is not recommended for lazy people and she will call you out if you are late to class. I struggled in her class at first, but her tough grading made me a better writer and I commend her for it :)

Tough Grader is right but you must work for your grade. She is a wonderful lady and will always try and help. GRAMMAR MATTERS and being factual in your papers is a plus. Lots of papers but not always the most interesting subjects. Not an easy class at all but well worth it if you want to actually learn. Would definitely take again.

At first, I thought this class was just going to be about writing essays on simple ideas, but thats not the case at all. She is a very, very tough teacher and wants to make sure you understand. And if you don't, trust me, she will make you. She also has her funny moments, you might fail the first paper, but you definitely will learn valuable stuff.

I love this professor! For the people saying she is hard just did not put in the work in her class. Her grading criteria was clear and yes you have papers, but duh its an English class. Honestly, one of the best teacher I have had at VVC. Requires two books, I didn't buy them because they were available in the library. We did wrote 5 papers and did most of the outline in class. Super funny and answers any and every question you could have.

I loved Ms golder for her honesty. She is a tough grader but made me a better writer overall and I really enjoyed taking this class and learning so much. There is a lot of writing involved but it is a college class. It is not impossible if you apply yourself.

I took her for English 104 and 241 and I loved her as a professor. The papers were a bit long but she helped us organize it and as long as you follow the grading criteria youll do fine. Just show up on time and do your work and such and youll be fine.

Patty is an amazing teacher. Shes a tough grader and it can be a very difficult class but it is not impossible to finish with a good grade. I was very good at writing essays before but she helped a lot. She can be serious but she does it to help you. She is funny and you can tell she genuinely cares about you.

I took Professor Golder in the 2021 Winter semester. Her lectures were always wonderful to listen to because she would add in a few jokes. We would talk about how what was happening and how we could apply it to our papers. There were 8 papers and I did pretty well. She answered my emails within two days' time. If not then I would ask in class.

This is a very tough class and if you don't want a heavy class don't take it, but if you are educated and respectful you will do just fine, also participate in class.

Just turn in every paper no matter what for credit. One thing I regret was not replying to other people in discussions. I would say start the papers the day she assigns them. She is super sweet and nice if you show interest in the class.

As long as you are able to cite correctly, proofread well, and put down time and effort into your outlines/essays, she will be able to see that and grade you based on that. Some of the essay topics may be difficult, especially when it comes to researching for a certain article, but in the end, it's all worth it. Good Luck!

Took an online summer course to dodge English in my Senior year of high school. Was a solid workload, but most of the time spent in class was making your outline. By the time Friday came your essay was pretty much done and it just needed a few more lines to connect everything. Wrote 6 essays over 6 weeks. She appreciates good effort. Solid class.

An excellent teacher, in my opinion. Tough grader, as they should be. Taught us very important lessons on work ethic as well as improved my understanding of essay composition.

She is a tough grader only because she would like for her students to be better writers. Attendance is mandatory and very important; she helps her students go over questions about the assignment. She will not accept late work. I can say this is a heavy-duty class, but as a student who is taking 19 credits, I was able to manage her class in between.

Tough but worthwhile class. Professor expects a lot of effort, but provides helpful feedback to improve your writing skills. The workload can be heavy, but using Unstuck study alongside the textbook made the essays more manageable.

I personally found her class very interesting and insightful from the topics that we wrote about. Just prepare to use MLA format and type out papers, but otherwise just put in all your effort and you'll most likely pass!
