Great woman, so smart, and always laughs!!
Nice person-hard teacher-does not teach what is on tests-hard
Terrible teacher...I think she is posting the positive rates.Never there to help
LOVE her! She is so nice and really loves what she does.
Very nice, easy class, actually enjoyed class, discussions werent that boring
has a lot of energy and borders on crazy. doesnt give enough info to go on
nice, but didn't teach me anything about writing! Don' Take!!
Shes nice but confusing. Has alot of energy but can ramble. Not alot of work/fair
very happy and energetic,i like the lit. she picks for the class, take 4 lit only
very nice and helpful--great teacher

easy class, somewhat enjoyable nice lady. easy A
nice and very hiper! work isnt too hard, but can be difficult to understand
very hiper, but fun to have in class. good teacher but can be difficult to understand at times.
Smartest woman alive. Easy to understand, very helpful, so kind, energetic, and funny as hell. She really gets to know you. Work is difficult and midterm/final are near impossible, but she'll help you through it. She's generous with curves on tests.

She's very hyper, laughs at her own jokes. Teaches very strange style of writing, hard to understand what she wants.
What a great teacher. Liked working with students. She is interested in what she teaches which makes it easier to learn.

If you don't speak broken english don't take her cause you won't understand anything. The material is easy but, she grades way to hard. I usually get A's in any english class but, somehow managed a C. Try her at your own risk.
She's extremely intelligent and nice, but very demanding and not an easy grader. It's difficult to tell what she wants, but she works with you if you ask her.

IMPOSSIBLE grader! jumps back and forth and makes NO sense. she's very kind and intelligent, but should be working on a really boring grammar book or something--NOT teaching!
sometimes hard to follow, but still enjoyed the class. grades fairly. laughs at her own jokes!
Good teacher. Very clear on what she's looking for on tests. Easy classes, light workload. Laughs histerically at her own jokes, which in turn makes everyone else laugh. not the best teacher ive had but i wouldnt take my chances with any1 else
really sweet. very enthusiastic about what she teaches. reasonable grader, willing to help. really does laugh at her own jokes.
PAU SAN IS THE GREATEST...TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASS YOU CAN. tRY TO GET IN THE COMPUTER LAB WITH THE COMPUTERS IN FRONT OF U...U'LL KNOW WHEN U TAKE HER HAH...{LIB301?} I LOVE YOU PAU SAN...I NAMED A PLANT AFTER HER!
oh my god!! she made no sense at all! maybe it was just the material. why would she order an english writing book written by german men? avoid this class if you can...
She's so nice and really funny...OK she may not be that easy to understand but she's hysterical and always willing to help! PAU-SAN'S THE BOMB!
She is insane. Take Dr.Zeppetello if you can because she is a nutbag. And don't be fooled by the positive comments because I'm almost positive she wrote most of those.

hard, confusing, we don't even write for this course. But she's sort of humorous the way she laughs at her own jokes, and she really is brilliant.
She can barely speak english. The class has no direction, you learn things that you will never need to know again, and the class is boring. Everything is all about grad work, she is oblivious to the fact that we're not grad students yet. AVOID!
Horrible Class. Nothing to do with writing. Half the time you're saying "We're learning nothing" the other half "Why are we learning this?" Teaches like everyone's a writing concentration major. Aviod her as a teacher. Class w
good god! what was the point of that class? we learned nothing! she was a nice lady and very energetic, but other than the amusement factor there was nothing that i could take from any of the lessons...
I'm questioning whether I really want to be an english minor anymore. If the rest of the classes are like this, I don't think I could take it anymore. By far my least favorite professor of the semester.
I left her class knowing less about writing than I did when I entered it. We do a few scholarly readings which are helpful, but she cannot teach very well. Sadly, you're writing more or less to please her nuanced format. She rewards triteness and discorages detail. Be aware, this lady squashes creativity like Mario squashes Koopas. Avoid!
worst class ever. how i came out with a decent grade is beyond me. shes ok at lecturing and seems like a nice woman, but the work she gives is stupid and pointless. then she grades harshly and doesnt give you reasons why. if i didnt have to i wouldnt have taken this class. if you can, by all means possible, dont take her.
She's easy, but her grading is a little ridiculous. She has given our class at least three lectures on punctuation. The class is a waste of time, but so is college writing, so you might as well have an easy teacher
I once wrote about how CSIS was a waste of money. Well that class at least made sense. This class is by far the most difficult class I have ever had to endure. You will seriously be scratching your head saying why are we studying this and why do we need to know this. She is an ok and nice teacher. But the class is just SOOOOOOO AWFUL!!!!!
The nicest, most INTELLIGENT teacher at Marist...take her if you don't want to take a typical class. She is excellent.
Writing as a discipline. She is nice but a horrible teacher. Other than laughing at her laughing at her own jokes, there was no point to this class. You learn nothing and all of the tests come from boring articles from the 70's with gramatical errors that are outdated. She pulls everything on the tests out of nowhere. If you can, find someone else.
She is incredibly smart, but as a result often leaves the rest of the class behind. You will have to work very hard, and if you miss class (and sometimes even if you don't) it will be hard for you to follow what is going on. The tests are fairly difficult, make sure to do all the readings and take notes on them.
Very sweet and helpful lady. This class has quite a bit of work, but it is actually really interesting. She is always willing to help and answer questions. I definitely recommend taking her!
She's crazy. I do not recommend taking her unless you want to sit through a class constantly asking yourself why you are there. Not to mention adding needless stress to your life. Managed a decent grade in the end, but sitting through her class was an ORDEAL.
Do NOT take this class. All papers had to do with immigrants and globablization. Do pretty much nothing related to writing. You end up laughing at her while she laughs at herself.
I would rather slam my head against the wall repeatedly for an hour and 15 minutes than go to this class. Too bad you automatically have to take her if you're an English major. So boring and unclear.
I wold NOT recommend this teacher to anyone. If you love writing this is not the class for you it is more like a social studies class than a writing class. She is harsh to everyone's writing skills.
The class is a history of writing course. Many readings! Most of them are online. I couldn't find some of them. Don't read them at the last minute. They make up the midterm! She has a thick accent, so you have to pay close attention to what she's saying. Few grades. Study your definitions for the final! Ask questions if you need help! Nice teacher!
Had her for Writing as a Discipline...in which we did no writing. Very nice and intelligent but uses way outdated material which doesnt help your writing skills at all. Do NOT buy the textbook- don't use it.
I'm shocked to see any positive comments. She's really really nice but the class is a waste of time. You learn nothing of value. Most of your time is spent laughing because she's laughing hysterically at her own joke. The rest of your time is sent wondering why you're learning it what you're learning. Smart, can't teach
Four 4-6 page essays, One 8 page essay, A lot of not necessary reading, 1 presentation, easy midterm and final. This is a humanities writing class. Writing topics are extremely limited/no creativity allowed. Relatively useless class but not hard to get a B
Extremely nice. Read alot of national geographic articles and then write about them. No real free writing. Not hard to get a decent grade. she will meet with you to go over a paper before its due and allows 2 re-writes during the semester. Mid-term and final were extremely easy. Overall and OK class. I would recommend her
She grades papers way too harshly and they are on the most boring topics ever. She is a good teacher and you'll learn a lot but it's over the top for basic college writing.
Okay, so when the class starts out with 15 or so people and the only 3 people are left to take the final, I think everything one needs to know about this class is understood. Unfortunately, there is no one else to take for Writing as a Discipline and this class is horrible. She's smart, but a terrible teacher. Don't take unless it's required!
Love her attitude in class, she wakes me up in the morning!
Not as bad as other comments make her out to be. Her grading is very harsh. The knowledge you get is very helpful for future jobsfor English Majors. Her midterm/final & tests are very hard. She's unclear & the tests=hard (we didn't learn). Research paper was annoying;the oral presentations are helpful for jobs. This prof is bearable, not too bad.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ONLY ASSIGNS ASIAN LITERATURE AND IS HIGHLY ANNOYING. She is a very bad teacher because she will only teach from one culture. I had to take this class as a core and she grades papers as though it is my major. I would not take her for she is almost looking to give out bad grades.
Avoid this women as much as possible. She constantly walks out of class to "drink" water and is always pushing personal Asian cultural beliefs on the class instead of teaching the course. Is always looking for personal gain rather than teaching.
This is the first time I actually rate a professor on this website. Because I find the negative comments untrue. She is a great professor and probably one of my favorite. Took her for linguistic and I really enjoyed it. The midterm test was easy but the final was pretty tough. Gives out only few assignments (easy). Overall an excellent professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. worst class/ teacher i have had at Marist.
You will be in a constant state of confusion if you take this class. She's nice but pretty useless when it comes to teaching. The only thing more pointless than her lectures are the assignments. She loves collaborative essays which are terrible at helping students improve on their writing skills. Unfortunately, she takes attendance every day.
Linguistics was a very interesting class. She is a great professor and you learn alot from her lectures. There were readings, but they weren't on the tests. Exercises from the book were done in class and for homework so the class does require work. The final is very difficult, but overall it was a good course.
Doesn't get students involved. The already super abstract material is made a lot harder to understand by her messy/unclear lectures.
This woman is the absolute worst never take her if you don't have to.
This class material was very difficult to grasp and the professor wasn't able to successfully answer questions on the material.
My least favorite class that I have taken at Marist. The professor is all over the place and does not convey the material well. There is never a time while sitting in this class where I don't feel confused. The graded homework is fine if you teach yourself the material, but the midterm causes a lot of stress as it is only 5 questions.
Awful teacher dread going to her class every day. She is all over the place and expects you to know what to do at all times.
Linguistics was the hardest class I've ever taken, and she constantly asks for feedback to make it easier but shoots down everyone's ideas. She takes off points for everything and doesn't give any advice or help for how to study. Just when you get the hang of her formatting she changes it. I wouldn't take this if you don't have to.
I really enjoyed her. She made the class laugh every day. She knows a lot about what she's talking about, and you can really see the passion behind it. I am a science major, and this class was definitely up my alley as it is very analytical. Homework load is light, and only one paper. It's very manageable and makes you think about the world!
She's nice, but makes absolutely no sense. She rambles on from one thing to the next and it was almost impossible to keep up with her. She gives very little direction but expects the most, and will get frustrated if you question her too much. The workload was also pretty heavy for an intro to writing class. I would avoid taking this class...
By far the most boring and confusing class have ever taken. I've literally never been more confused in my entire life. Get ready to say stuff in class and have her laugh at you. Don't recommend!!!
Didnt give us homework for a few weeks, then assigned a lot. Heavy on group projects.
Every day in class was supposed to be a new unit, but we would often spend it listening to her ramble on about the last unit or something random. She doesn't teach you how to do the homework she just expects you to figure it out and then grades harshly. The final was on analytics when we never once discussed that and she doesn't care. Horrible time
Do not take any linguistics class at all. They are miserable and make no sense. Really difficult and unejoyable class unrelated to most majors. Do not take linguistics.
Dr. Haruta for Lingustics was such a great professor. She was always easy to reach outside of class and provided great feedback and help on the assignments. She cares about her students and although she is a little bit of a tough grader, the course is not overly difficult. I would recommend taking this class!
I thought the prof. was insanely clever and informative. The coursework was okay, there was a good amount of reading and 3 essays. The in-class lectures were awe-inspiring. Only complaint is that I didn't find a student (myself included) that could satisfy any of her talking points/questions/prompts. Well deserved though, her intellect is crazy.
I had to by more textbooks for this class than any class I've ever had. We're graded extremely heavy on VERY few assignments and her lectures just aren't that interesting and it's honestly hard to stay awake.
She is probably one of the most out of pocket teacher's I have ever met. I took her class for literature and gender and it was very chill and there was not a lot of work. There was two essays the entire semester and an online midterm and final that were not difficult. If you are looking for an English credit I would highly suggest taking her class
She is a very good professor since she is very educated in the field of linguistics. Every class is just a lecture, so it is rough for an 8 am. She is very nice though and will answer any question you have. TAKE NOTES AND ACTUALLY READ THE TEXTBOOK. Overall, she is intense but the topic makes it worth it.
Super sweet, and really tries to learn everyone's names. I take her class 6-9 and truly enjoy it because she is always so nice, friendly, and happy. And its an easy class just have lots of reading to do but most of the work is group work which is really nice
A lot of people here have complained about her linguistics class, but she makes it well known off the bat that the class is a difficult one, and told us if we weren't up for it to switch out. Linguistics is not easy, but that doesn't make her a bad professor. Has a passion for what she teaches and encourages us on even when incorrect. Funny too!
Boring and just not a class you want to take
