You will learn how to write poetry! You will look at it in a new and very effective way. You out a lot of work into it, but I think he is a great teacher! I highly recommend him!

He is great, if you want to write crappy poetry, don't take his class, because he will tell you that it is no good. If you want to grow as a writer though, you should sign up now.

tells it like it is. I don't know how his other classes are, but the advanced classes are more like writing workshops, and as such, usually focus on lit.crit.not a touchy-feely "oh, that was so wonderful" class. if that's what you want, you probably aren't going too far as a writer, anyway.

I enjoyed his class very much, good guy, funny, and real... no bullsh*t. At suffolk, there are plenty of crappy professors, he is not one of them. Hard grader, but put in some effort and participate and you'll get a good grade. One of my favorite professors at SCCC.

This class was great. More focus on poetry than any other creative writing -- so if you aren't into writing poems, then this is not your class to take. It was a great learning expierence, and be prepared to say why you do or don't like something. Very brutally honest.

For serious writers who can take criticism, w/ intentions of being published. Do not take his class if your poetry is about suicide attempts or being dumped; you will be rightfully ripped apart. No one wants to hear that banal crap. May seem abrasive at first, but when you speak to him one on one he is intelligent, helpful, and very funny.

Good professor. Just do the work or he'll ream you out for it. Behind his strict nature he is extremely intelligent and the work is easy enough. Definitely not boring. Just don't take him if you want an easy ride.

Asks us to give an un-biased look at the Bible yet he has the biggest agenda to try to disprove it because he is very bitter toward CHURCH because of past experiences. Just keep on praying for him...he can do amazing things on Gods side when he opens his eyes...

If you are the stereotypical lazy and crude suburbanite wigger (LI softie) that only goes to SCCC so your parents don't make you get a job or join the military then you will probably neither understand nor enjoy Professsor Agostino's classes.

This class is an easy A if you're a half decent writer. Teacher is a cool guy that probably smokes a lot of pot... or at least did. Anyway I think learning from him was a great experience and would recomend him to everyone.

Prof A really just wants to give you feedback and discuss the stories, leaving it all up to you. We read shortstories, 2 novels. If you miss a reading he won't care, as long as you make up for it. Mostly, just show up for class, esp. on the day your story is being read, and BE PREPARED TO PARTICIPATE. There's no excuse, it's the point of the class.

He's so helpful with critiques of your work. And he has the dreamiest hair! I just want to run my fingers through those flowing locks!

A good teacher, overall. Very critical with how he wants you to write essays. If you are very talented in writing and are very sarcastic like he is, you should def. take his class.

ok i have him now. hes really a nice guy. i think i have grown as a writer and as a person taking his class. on my first poem i was really scared to read it to the class. now i dont even worry if its my day to read. he can be harsh and i sometimes feel that he does pick favorites. his criticism is greatly appreciated it has helped me improve alot.

I had professor Agostino for Creative Writing. We basically did poems all semester long, so if you dont like that then dont take the class. Basically if you do all the work you will be fine. He gives you 4 absences that you can use as well. I would recommend him to anyone. =)

He expects you to know what you wrote, why you wrote it, and *gasp* be able to talk about it. Therefore, don't come in with something that is over personal that you would burst into tears over, ie: bad breakups, deaths etc. His poetry does suck, but he can make yours good.

Professor AgostinO REALLY HELPED ME WITH MY MATH PROBLEMS. I LEARNED THAT EVERYTHING DOESN'T EQUAL FIVE. In all reality, he's a great professor. He'll critique your work and make it for the better. He might give off the appearance of a grumpy man but really he's just a big teddy bear looking for a cuddle. & DO NOT TRIPPLE SPACE OR ELSE!!!

Speaking as an Evolution Minion (yeah I'm talking to you on page 9). I don't find that he plays favorites at all. He simply tells you what's what. Take his classes if you're serious about developing your writing skills. And if you can't handle the criticism, you're weak and you won't be able to handle this business. Tough?

Professor Agostino can be brutally honest in his critiques--but it's a good thing if you want to be a writer. He helps you to rethink things. If you don't care about writing--don't take his class. If you are serious about it at all, then this class is a must. I too am a minion--and proud of it!

well im only helping him get over the 3.9 mark. just playing, he's a great professor and is always helpful is every way and if you take this class or poetry don't worry about not liking it he will make you crave it.

He is a great professor, helps you on your essays. It was only a pass/fail bc developmental. helped you and explains why. Share books with friends from another class bc waste of $ Exception 4 days & read when you have to or its an absence. Follow his instructions on how to write an essay and you will pass. The only other thing that I can find worth mentioning about is his love ofBukowski. He made me seriously contemplate building a time machine so I can meet Charlie and share a couple drinks with him. I love this guy. I learned more in a semester with him than in the entire rest of my time in Suffolk. Plus, in a weird way, he's pretty cute. Very dry sense of humor. Fasten your seat belt before you take this class.

Prof. Agostino was one of the best professors I have ever had at Suffolk. I learned more about my writing skills from him than any other English Prof. He has made me love reading and writing poetry, he makes me crave it. He also has a very witty dry sense of humor. Take him, you won't regret it.

The bestProfessor. He makes the class funny, yet he is tough and cares about your work. He will have you rewrite papers numerous times if you show any interest in the field. He will help you as much as you let him. A great great guy.

He's my personal favorite. Often seems as if he cares more about the students writing then the student. If he spots a possible writer, he is relentless in having that person live up to their potential. Amazing Prof if you want to work hard.

This guy is hysterical. He always comes to class with a story about something funny. I had him for Creative Writing, and I never really wrote poetry, but you write poems all semester, and I enjoyed it. He helps you out, and really makes everyone laugh (even in @ 9am). Well to start off A is great. When spelunking in one of the great caves of northern mexico I broke my leg in two places, possibly shattered, dont really know im not a docter. If you want to learn about the Bible, Professor Agostino is the right professor to take. He is a very easy professor. He also has a funny sense of humor and your self esteem goes up.

He is really nice. he is a hard grader and you need to read the assignments. he gives different sides to the bible and makes you think.

Took him for creative writing. He's a cool guy, but for the first time ever I feel like I didn't really get my money's worth out of a class. Very funny, easy to like, but he spends a lot of time, sometime large portions of the class, telling stories. I'm not knocking his personality or ability to teach, but I dont feel like I learned much.

He deff. teaches you how to improve your writing, but all he teaches is poetry. If you were looking to write short stories, this is not the class for you. Also, he makes the students give their opinion on each poem that is written, but the poem is only considered good if he likes it, kind of biased. Can be ****ed. EGO ALERT!

The best english professor at suffolk and in the top 10 for all professors. He has his own opinion but he doesnt force it on anyone. Extremely funny and tells great stories. He should do stand-up. I highly recommend literature of the bible. Its a very fun class for religious, non religious and those in the middle like me. Cool guy.

While traveling through the desert I herd Agostino once had to help a heard of camels get through a sand storm. They were thirsty. So Agostino chewed off his little toe as he was sheltering the camels from the storm. He then proceed to feed the camels like small babies, each drop of blood gave the animals another hour to live. Best teacher ever!! took him for creative writing and he was hilarious. not much work given but u still learn a lot.. & he preps u well for the final(which is non existent in that class lol)

He gives a small reading about once a week and an essay due every week but gives us about a week to do them. The topics are good as well. My only complaint is that he is a harsh grader. He grades on content and technical and then combines the 2 grades for your final grade. He loves simplicity so if you like to write in detail he will penalize you.

That class was hillarious. We went on the strangest of tangents but,still, I learned a lot about how to write good poetry. And he always shares his tic-tacks (he told us to say that, lol).

professor agostino is a great teacher. everything is crystal clear. this past semester (spring 2010) we wrote about 4-5 poems the entire semester. he is easy if u do all the work. hes such a funny guy he will make u laugh all class !

Great professor. Very sarcastic, comes off as mean and arrogant, but he is hillarious and fun. Class could not have been easier. No tests/ quizes/ final. Write a couple poems and recieve a grade. :) Highly reccomend.

Paul Agostino is one of the greatest writing professors to teach the subject. I can honestly say it was the only college class that i looked forward to going to every day. He is funny, and witty, but he really cares about his students and their progress. just don't blow off your work or get too pretentious about it or he'll rip you a new one.

Creative writing was fun and easy. All you had to do is the work and get an A. Sometimes he seems a bit of an ass but having such an easy class is worth it. I loved it so much I'm taking advanced creative writing next semester.

Love this professor!!!! Im not a good writer but I loved coming to this class. This guy is hysterical!!!! He assigned a paper every two weeks, and he makes the topics fun and easy. I wish I could take this professor for all my english classes. I would recommend this class to EVERYONE! He's awesome!!

He is Very Funny. he will pick on people but just to be funny he makes everyone laugh and his work is easy and you learn lots as well including proper grammar . we had 2 essays a week total of 8 but they were a piece of cake. they have nothing to do with books or anything just personal life and crazy stuff. if i would take classes with him again

Great guy and his personality ties in well with the class. We wrote poems and short stories each week which was fun. I wrote about my old bike and we talked in class about everyone's first bike and the nostalgia of it all. It was nice to go home and just write a poem about anything every week and share. Prof was very approachable and helpful. A++

He makes everything very clear to his students.

He's kind of intimidating at first but you'll learn that he is really nice and funny. He doesn't take excuses though. we rarely used our books we had to buy. The essay topics are interesting. Show that you care and take his advice and you'll have no problem. I didn't expect to like him so much :)

Creative Writing was easy and fun. If you miss a class, be sure to find out what you miss as assignments are discussed in class. Poems are written for the whole semester with the option of writing one short story towards the end. Do not write poems that rhyme, or have any cliches. Also if you cannot handle criticism, do not take this class.

Started out thinking he was an opinionated jerk and he kind of is. Started liking him based on some of his constructive criticism but was upset that he didn't accommodate an absence when I was sick. Dropped my letter grade and didn't think that was fair. Worked my butt off and followed his advice the best I could. Showed his true colors later

MUST BE THERE ON TIME! Do not yawn or sleep. Class is fairly easy, expect 5-6 essays (short, he doesn't ask for super long essays usually 1-3 pages) Class will be boring if you don't participate.

Probably the one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He really is understanding and tries to see the best in everyone's work. Only thing is that he doesn't have a filter, so be prepared to be told off if you're slacking off or causing trouble in his class. Other than that, AMAZING professor, definitely recommended!

This was a developmental class I took in my first semester. I was not excited about taking it but Prof. Agostino is the best!! I wish I could take another class with him. I absolutely loved his class.

I think this man has a big heart. He is a great teacher and passionate at what he teaches. He knows the bible from many different perspectives. Respectful of religion though the class is LITERATURE of the bible. You will learn a different side that you won't get in any church and have a much better understanding of the bible. Glad I took his class!

Prof Agostino is a decent guy. Just show up on time and don't be absent, and don't yawn in his face while hes lecturing(lol). His assignments are straight forward, just do them on time. One of the funniest professors Ive had. Dont show up late, hell embarrass you, but its all in good fun. Ive never laughed so hard at 9 in the morning. Currently halfway through the semester and Ive only had to write a few poems so far. DONT FORGET THE TEXTBOOK. He wrote it himself. Overall, easy and fun class, 10/10 recommend!

I took his creative writing course this semester and a lot of the class was spent critiquing other classmate's poetry and having conversations about life in general. He was a really cool guy and there were no exams or final, just an easy A if you handed in all your poems and showed up for class.

I took his ENG 101 class and i honestly loved it. i would look foward to coming to class and writng his essays. They were all creative writing essays so it was mad easy to write about stuff. As long as you show up and talk in class your gunna get an A

Funniest teacher ever. Would 100% recommend to take any of his classes. He made class fun with all his jokes. Class is not hard at all, just have to put in the work on the essays. Gives you great advice and is overall an amazing person.

Most chill class. He lets u be absent 4 times(2 is most at Suffolk). He calls on people a lot for random things and he hates when you yawn in class and he will call you out on it. He talked most classes about random life things. Never had homework only 4-5 Essays that you can write anything about on the topics he assigns.

DO NOT YAWN IN CLASS. Also, don't show up late or have your phone out unless you want to get embarrassed. It was one of the easiest classes I've taken. He doesn't give homework. He assigns a couple essays and that's it. He allows up to four absences. He was a pretty funny professor. I would definitely recommend taking him If you want an easy A.
