he's nice but you may be fooled by his dry humor-his lectures are boring but science isnt all that interesting anyways
Personally I liked him a lot. However he was never on time to class which personally I didn't mind 'cause he never kept us late. His tests were very easy. His lectures however were very boring and he has a very dry sense of humor. Don't take him early.
Did well in the class even though I don't care for science.
Awesome teacher! His lecture gets a little boring at times...but he is a very funny guy. He was 5 mins late to every class (which was cool bc it gave me time to study for our weekly quizes - which were easy anyway).
I loved his class..he was the coolest guy ever and he looks like a huge hippie..definately do the extra credit because it helps alot with some of the tests
Great teacher. I am at another university now and I still remember a lot from his class. Science is hard for a lot of people, but he made it fun.
overall hes a pretty cool guy and good teacher. sometimes he mumbles and goes off on random tangents but it does provide a break from the lecture. he expects you to get stuff done and study but isnt too hard and is a pretty fair grader. i mean he didnt make me love science but it wasnt too bad
He's extremely rude. Stay on his good side!!! Don't come late or leave early too often.
BORING!!!!!!!!!!!
He made the class very interesting. I didn't mind coming to class because I knew it wasn't going to be boring. He has a great sense of humor and his examples will stay in your head like - "Don't F with the Protons!" lol. I will always remember things like that thanks to him. GREAT teacher, love him!
BORING, ALWAYS LATE TO CLASS AND IF YOU COME IN LATE OR LEAVE EARLY HE GIVES YOU A HARD TIME. CLASS NEVER ENDS EARLY AND YOUR EVEN THERE LATE SOMETIMES. I WAS NOT INPRESSED AT ALL WITH HIS CLASS.

Very funny. Loved the class!
Personally, I didn't like him. But as a professer, he got the information through to me in a way that I could remember it for quizzes. The quizzes didn't seem TOO difficult either. Just study.
Pretty easy class. His tests were easy and you only take a few the whole semester. His lectures were entertaining most of the time. The best thing I got out of that class was, "Don't **** with the protons."

First thing I thought of when he walked in was "tree hugger." Imagine George Carlin with a doctorate in biology. Laid back, thorough, humorous, intelligent and well traveled. This is a good one to take.
I really enjoyed the way which he taught our class during lab.He has helped me to grasp a better understanding of life sciences. However,I wish that he had provided more visual aids and notes to better suppliment the class.
Good Teacher
Good teacher, EXTREMELYYYY boring.
Great teacher, definitely knows his stuff. His lengthy lectures tend to make me sleepy, but I'm enjoying the lab portion.
cool teacher
I only took Bio Lab w/ him this past summer. I have no interest in science whatsoever. I ended up with an A+. I'd take him again if I HAD to. Lectures are long and boring, but hey I got the grade.
good guy, like the beaard. funny dude the class may be a little hard but hes a fun guy to listen to.
he is a great teacher. very down to earth and helpful. a lot of fun, even though his lectures were long, he covered the material well. i love him.
Billeter did everything he could to help everyone in the class get an A. There were quizzes every monday, but they were really easy as long as you went over the notes right before class.
Great telecourse teacher. A little tough but you learn a lot. Worth taking for an extra science course
Awesome teacher. Somtimes I thought I was the only one who got his jokes. Took him during a summer-session for Bio Lec/Lab, 5 hours a night 2x a week. If you pay attention and put forth some effort you will do just fine. I would recommend him to anyone.
awesome teacher! i definitely recommend to everyone! i wish he taught anatomy so i could have him again! tests were very easy because of his online site and practice tests..very helpful! He is also very straight forward so if he sees you doing cybereds late, it will piss him off! haha but overall great teacher!
I learned so much from him, especially all about the secret life of seaworld. He was a very hard prof., but it was worth it.
Awesome teacher! Layed back. . .Make you really wanna get it to bio
The best Biology teacher EVER!!! Billiter is humorous and makes biology as interesting as possible. The work is easy, but there's a lot of it. Do not fall behind on the projects, they're on the tests and you will hate yourself the last week of the semester. Make sure you complete the pretests, the questions are the exactly the same on exams.
nice teacher. ..very helpful.....i hav a exam tommarrow and i dont wat his examz lookz like....can sumbody tell wat to study and are his exam easy or hard???
Billeter was an awesome professor. I took his Zoology 1020 course, and learned a lot. Very interesting class, he's passionate about teaching. 2 projects required and 3 tests. Although we only were able to take 2. He's got a sense of humor. He doesn't take off for missing class but i recommend going so you understand the material for the tests.
This was an easy class with two projects. The projects can be a breeze if you start on them early. He throws out jokes every now and then but sometimes the lectures did get boring. The tests weren't too hard, most of the material comes from the information provided on his website and he presents powerpoints. He's very knowledgeable.
I took his class after hearing what a hard teacher he was. But come to find out I passed with an 85! He was a very layed back teacher. Their are two main projects due that are very time consuming and thats it. We had 2 exams because he took too long to cover the material but it was A ok! He was really great and I am really bad at science as it is!
Professor Billeter kept class interesting by interjecting youtube videos into the lectures. While very time-consuming, the two projects were good educational tools for student learning. I was able to earn an A in his class by attending every lecture and working on his exam review sheet about a week before class. I learned a great deal.
A very fun professor and very interesting. He is very intelligent!!
Took his Zoology 1020 Lec and Lab. He's funny and enthusiastic, in his lectures he uses Youtube videos which I liked because you could see real-life images of what he was talking about instead of some sketch in a textbook. No projects, but lots of TED lectures. Can't slack off, tests come from book, notes, and course compass material.
Greatest professor i have ever had. Every instructor should strive to be like professor billeter
I had Billeter for 1020 Zoo LEC & Lab and in the beginning..I thought he was boring. But a few weeks into class he started to liven up. If youre interested in zoology you'll like his class, if not you'll be bored to death b.c he does teach from powerpoints. He is very helpful esp. in the LAB. Get on his good side and you'll get an A :)
I took Oceanography online with Prof Billeter. I enjoyed the class but it was a HUGE amount of homework to get through. As long as you do the homework you can pull an A in this class. If you don't do it, you won't pass. Taking it online, plan to spend a lot of time on it.
He is an excellent teacher and used lots of examples to explain concepts, including you tube clips. His exams were mostly from the online homework, in class lectures and TED's. I really enjoyed his class and learned a lot about zoology!!
Took this course online and really enjoyed it. Prof is very organized and responsive. Blackboard was having a lot of "issues" at the time; prof was always helpful and quick to respond. There are several projects for each module (c-maps, TED lecture summaries, quizzes) in addition to exams but if you keep up it is not hard.
I loved this class. I took it online and while it was a lot of work most of it was fun and interesting. I had no problem getting a grade of 100 percent. Professor Billeter is great he loves what he teaches about and knows a lot about it. I highly recommend him.
He's a fun teacher, really knows his stuff, and he made class, and the info., interesting. But the class is fairly unorganized; we only made it through 1/2 of the material. And he's WAY too easy on the slackers. But he did help me enjoy science, which is normally not my thing.
The class was fairly unorganized and we only got through about half of the intended material. The homework amount is fairly large so if you sign up to take his class, expect to spend a few hours on homework in between sessions.Overall, nothing bad to say about him, just be prepared to be bored.
Mr.Billeter is a great professor. I missed the first class because of a family medical crisis and he took the extra time to help me catch up and it was smooth sailing from there. Study, do the pre&post test, give a solid TED lecture summary and you'll get an A.
Prof. Billeter is amazing! I really enjoyed his class. He keeps you on your toes and working, however you do learn a lot and take away a lot from the class. There is high text book use. READ THE SYLLABUS! That is a huge asset
Had him for an online class. The syllabus was a little long and hard to read. His class is super interesting and you can tell he loves his subject and he will get you interested! The work makes you use your brain but it won't kill you and it just takes a bit of time.
This instructor has a great sense of humor. His exams are a bit hard, but you'll do fine if you study and follow direction.
The class is easy if you do your work when he says to do it and if you dont miss any labs. Study, never be lazy and his class will be a breeze. He's funny if your smart, you'll get his jokes. DONT BE AFFAID TO ASK QUESTIONS! he will answer! great man. highly recommend him.
Do the work and don't complain and you will get an A. there is a lot of work, but it's fairly easy stuff. His lectures can be entertaining at times, also.
Professor Billeter is a very good professor and he knows a lot about about the subject. He gives you this huge extra credit assignment worth a whole +10 points to your total grade. He may be boring but his class is worth taking I learner a lot by his powerpoints.
He doesn't really care about attendance but I went to almost every class. He's lectures are kind of boring but are very informational. The work on mastering biology was easy and the "TEDS" were actually pretty interesting. Tests weren't too bad. I recommend him! but kind of wish I took him online (I think it would be an pretty easy online class)
Zoology is tough no matter who you take. With Billeter DO NOT miss any of the online assignmentstest it will hurt your grade! Go to every class, they are not too boring. He talks kind of low, so I recommend sitting towards the front. You really have to study for the exams; use flash cards! Overall, he is a cool professor!
I absolutely loved this class. Paul, PB as he refers to himself, is a great teacher. Reading through his syllabus you'll see how funny he is. He truly cares about the subject and it matters to him if we learn. It's nice to have a professor who cares. This has been the first class I've taken that I throughly enjoyed. A lot of work, but It's fun!
Great Class! I learned a lot about zoology Spring 2013! Class had behavior problems coming in late, on phone, just rude! But I am a good student!
Professor Billeter's teaching style may seem reptilian, but he really knows Biology. His class is an easy A if you do the work and study. He gives you plenty of opportunity to improve your grade by doing extra credit. The photo-journal project is brutal, so start working on it as soon as possible. This professor is highly recommended.
You have to do all of the work to past. Especially the TEDs which are long and boring. All of the answers to homework, quizzes, and testes are online. Just google the question and click on the quizlets. Gives loads of extra credit.
Professor Billeter was off topic for 98% of the classes. He admitted to not caring about attendance and figuring out how to do the online work on masteringbiology was hard and I almost failed from that. He is not a very good professor at all I would not recommend taking him.
Professor Billeter is a great teacher! His assignments are very straight forward. He is always available to clarify if you don't understand something. His assignments helped me remember the info I was learning in the book. He loves when you turn in assignments EARLY!
Professor Billeter was not my favorite teacher. His lecture class was long and painful & very boring. Your grade depends on the mastering biology which i found extremely easy to keep up with as long as your checking the calendar. Tests were long and hard and unless you read the book on your own you wont know half of the answers to the questions.
Had this Professor online. Thought he was awesome! Grading criteria are very straight forward and most of your work in done on Mastering Oceanography website. Super easy if you read the book! Tests are a little more difficult but if you study you'll do fine.
His lectures are always the full amount of time and runs out of time to get through all of the material. The online assignments don't match the chapters discussed in class because he doesn't keep on track.
There is weekly to bi-weekly homework assignments online, nothing too challenging, all the information can be found in the textbook. The lectures, however, are very long and he is very soft spoken. He was incredibly generous in his grading methods, and the tests were not insanely difficult. Would recommend the course!
an amazing professor - funny, understands the topic, makes himself available and will help you out if you ask. attendance is crucial and he takes up the full lecture time. only 2 straightforward tests and 1 project which wasn't super difficult but it's very time consuming. don't put it off and you will do fine.
Prof. Billeter is really cool! He's a bit soft-spoken, and he tends to deviate from the textbook material; but so long as you pay attention in class, you'll do just fine. He's easygoing and almost always accessible outside of class. Highly recommended!
Come to class because his lectures are long and boring but you have to pull through. He makes simple jokes throughout the lecture to make you concentrate a little more. Very easy going and simple to talk to outside of class. 2 tests were semi difficult definitely have to study. Homework is very simple, TED is too.
One of my favorite teachers. If you show genuine interest he will give you a good grade. Also, he loves participation. The more you talk to him, the more he will respect you and help you out. He is super chill, so dont be shy to see him after class.
Professor Billeter stated that attendance was not mandatory, BUT IT IS. At the end of the semester, he told me I missed some classes and that was going to affect my grade. I don't know if he was trying to be inspirational but that really screwed me over. DON'T SAY ATTENDANCE ISN'T MANDATORY IF IT IS. Also, his voice will put you to sleep.
What a GREAT professor. I finished this class within a week because I couldn't stop reading and learning about it. The TEDs were great and Professor B gives great feedback and allows a lot of extra credit. If you don't get a good grade you clearly didn't try or allow him to help you.
Billeter is a good professor and he's very informative. He does give extra credit which is a bonus, and he does everything in his power to help his students and make sure they understand. His lectures can be pretty boring, so be prepared. He does crack jokes and his labs are fun. If you get a bad grade, it's because you didn't try.
Billeter is an amazing professor. He's hilarious and can go really in depth into biology. Granted, he sidetracks a lot but posts study guides on mylearning about what is important and offers heaps of extra credit. Failing his class is honestly nobody's fault but your own. The grade isn't dictated fully by tests either.
He is very clear on his grading criteria which is very lenient imo. He tends to get himself off topic rather easily which, in my case altered test dates etc from the syllabus. It also forced me to pay more attention to homework in order to grasp material for tests. Hes a funny and sociable guy who will definitely work with you if you need it.
Billeter is a great professor, although his lectures can get boring considering he can go into deep detail, it's all very knowledgeable, but he also makes jokes in between which makes the class worth it. He also tends to get side tracked a lot, which led to tests, hw & essays being pushed back.
Mr zoo was a pretty good professor. He loved rotifers and teaching about them. This class helped me pass my zoo keeper test and get my zoo keepers license!!
He doesn't explain things to the whole class, he'll wait until there is less than half of the students in class to do so. Also, a very strict grader.
I am still taking Zoology with prof. Billiter, and by far it is one of my favorite classes this semester. It is very easy to get an A if you just do the work and follow the rubrics. Hes very encouraging and funny. His lectures can get a bit boring sometimes, but what lectures arent boring? Do your work, study for exams and youll get an A.
I loved taking his oceanography class! A few of the required TED talks are reaaaally boring, but as long as you don't procrastinate it's easy enough to handle. He is very detailed in his syllabus and grading criteria; I never had to ask about an assignment. There are 3 open-book exams, but most of the questions you can find on Quizlet!
took him for zoology and zoology lab in person, came back to take oceanography online just because I loved him so much. Papers are basically summaries of TED talks, its hard to get used to his way of essays but once you get the hang of it its actually pretty easy.
The feedback can be a little unpleasant but he's okay
I enjoyed Professor Billeter's class. It was online. His expectations and the assignments were clearly outlined. He is kind of funny and witty in his announcements. All of the assignments we on the MB portal with the exception of 3 papers. Easy A if you do the work and put a little thought/research behind your papers.
I am finishing up Professor Billeter's class currently. I am enrolled in his WEB based course, so I have never even met him, but I am so impressed. He gives informative feedback, emails back quickly, has a great sense of humor, knows a lot about his subject, and offers extra credit. He is truly a great teacher. Take his class!!!
I personally thought his overview was funny. His colorful vocabulary was amusing too. Assiduously.. idiosyncrasies... now I know what they mean. Anyway, he is very intelligent and knows what he's talking about. His expectations are clear and you will most likely never be lost. Put in the effort and you're good to go!
The work is pretty easy. There are 3 essay type assignments based off of watching Ted talks which arent super difficult. I would definitely take this class again.
