Requires way too much reading ( a 30 page chapter for each class) and there's an 8 page paper
Mr. Blakelock knows his material well. His in class quizes are VERY annoying; they make you keep up with the endless reading. His tests aren't easy, and you HAVE to study for them in order to do well. You can usually tell what the essays questions are.
Man, thig guy was hard to please, but did take it in summer session. Still, lots of reading, tests could be difficult to very difficult. At least he attempts to provide a good lecture, but not very lenient towards grades. good luck here
Found the course very interesting, and he provided an unusual viewpoint, not to mention offered some very interesting topic choices. The reading was about as lengthy as any other class that broad. Altogether a good deal.
You have to show up to every class, b/c he has pop quizes that you can in no way remake. His test are on the hard side as well.
Lectures have nothing to do with the exams. Doesn't tell you what to study for at all, so when exam time comes around you'll like WTF. a whole lota reading (3 books) not including the essay. If possible add/drop and get a new prof.
I took an online class with Mr. Blakelock. His class discussions were interesting and stimulating. He was very fair in his grading. He encourages discussion and debate, so being prepared is important in his class.
First impression wasn't the best, but one of the best classes I have had, ever. Be prepared and do the reading, discussion, debate and pop quizzes are a big part of this class. Study well for tests and write a good essay ahead of time, he'll gladly look over it. Extremely helpful. Very hard but I enjoyed it and learned a lot, esp. about his sister.
takes notes and study and youll make an a. lecture based but interesting and informative. animates lectures with hilarious examples of his "sister." fair grader. he gives a research paper but grades it lightly.

I enjoyed his class and learned a lot about the functions of government. Just read diligently and you should do fine on the tests.
Great at lecturing and useses powerpoints. just come to class and pay attention and you'll do fine.
this guy is soo stupid its not even funny.
I took this class online. It was A LOT of reading. I missed the first exam, so I ended up dropping the class. He was helpful, but I would NOT recommend the online class, especially if you do not have a tremendous amount of time to read.
He's a good professor, and very entertaining. However you will have to work hard in his class to get an A.
He is awful and should not be considered a teacher. I took him online , he dosen't really teach, its lost of reading no revies or quizes that actually are gear3ed toward the instructional material.
He's one of the best instructors I've ever had and has actually inspired me and motivated me in more ways than I have characters to mention. Take him if you want to actually learn and have real conversations and debates
Professor Blakelock is a very intellegent and knowledgeable professor. He teaches very well and tries to argue different positions on various issues. However, you really do have to do work in the class. Slackers don't really have a chance...he makes sure of that. As long as you do what you are suppose to do, you will make a good grade!
He is real enthusiastic and knows his arguments well. Just pay attention in class and do the reading for quizes. Highly recommended.
He is very interesting. I enjoy his class a lot. His tests and quizzes are fair, all you have to do is read and study. He gives plenty of opportunites to ask questions and to help you out with whatever you need. He finds a way to bring current events going on to make the subject more alive.
Great teacher. His class is of moderate difficulty. He is entertaining, and promotes class discussion over current topics. I would definantly recommend him if you need to take government.
Blakelock is a very knowledgeable professor and knows everything there is to know about government. His class consists of notes everyday, random quizzes, and 4 tests. Just participating in class everyday is not enough for an A. Studying is required but you will learn a lot.
Awesome professor. Difficult class (a lot of reading and memorizing). If you stay on top of the reading you will do well and it will be relatively easy. Lectures are great and he has extensive knowledge of the course material. I look at him as a mentor of sorts. I have completely changed my view on politics since I started taking his courses.
Great teacher and highly recommend, would have taken him for 2302 but didnt work into my schedule. A lot of reading and studying, which I didnt do and got a C so a little bit of effort could get better grade.
HE IS A GOOD TEACHER.
Professor Blakelock is amazing. He is a fair and wonderful teacher. I would recommend him to everyone, and have done so to everyone I have spoken to about him. He doesn't teach what he thinks, he lets you make your own decisions, but he challenges your beliefs all of the time. Just know what you believe and know why you think it is true and he wil
The first time i took a test in his class, i failed. If you really read the book than you will pass. He does quizzes over the reading, a paper, the test are multiple questions with a few essays questions, but he gives you the essays questions that are going to be on the test. If you work hard, you will end up with a B like me. You have to study.
He is a great teacher! Pretty difficult though, make sure you are reading everyday so you are prepared for your pop quizes! I took him both semesters and enjoyed both!
Hes a good teacher. He tells the truth and dirt for both sides of the political spectrum. He makes class interesting, keeps your attention, time goes by fast, and as long as you do the reading you will do well in his course. But its quite a bit of reading. Id suggest taking the course when you have a light load though
Totally AWESOME in-class professor. Very honest, and usually pretty funny. He's very willing to work with you--TALK TO HIM if you have a problem. SUGGESTIONS: Stock up on scantrons for pop quizzes, make sure to at least SKIM the reading, and take notes during class (his lectures are all outlined on powerpoint so it's easy).
Some people believe his class is hard. If you pay attention in class you can nail the essay questions and the multiple choice are straight from the text. It's not hard, use your brain.. which some people do not have.
Really good teacher!
he is an ok teacher. you have to come to class because his test are at least 80 or 90 percent and the rest are essays. He is very funny.
Extremely hard teacher! Not recommended! Expect tons of homework. Gives pop quizzes frequently.
He is interesting in lectures, but his lectures only cover the essay portions of the test! You have 3 textbooks that cover the 50 multiple choice and he doesn't go over them. It's a rigorous class, but not impossible. You have to actually read to get good grades on the 7 pop quizzes. Not for the weak at heart.
People who go to college have to expect to work more than they did in high school, thats the point of college. He is a fun professor but requires, what I believe to be, an average amount of reading (something that most community college students are not used to). Lectures cover the essay questions, while the books covers the multiple choice.
Lots of reading so be prepared to basically teach yourself. lectures are only good for essay questions so they're pretty much pointless in helping you on the test. Nice guy and likes his starbuck tea. Tends to favor people over others. Especially if you are his rant monitor that sits in the front row and you flirt with him he will be nice to you.
Nice guy and funny, his humor makes government bearable :D Definitely motivated me to be more informed about our government. I enjoy going to this class, but be prepared to READ. Detailed understanding of reading material is IMPERATIVE if you want to pass the exams.
Dr. Blakelock is extremely knowledgeable about government and he is very passionate about what he teaches. Be prepared to READ and come to class ON TIME(shocker!!), take notes DAILY, and be prepared for pop quizes. He's extremely helpful. Always available to help after class. He's very funny and al all around great guy and professor.
Blakelock is one of my favorite professors at this college. He makes class fun and government understandable through funny anecdontes and examples. Do the reading before tests and take online quiz for chapters and youll be fine. This is one of the only classes I dont sit and watch my clock for half the class
He knows his stuff. Very interesting. Fair. You have to read and come to class which should not be a problem. Every citizen should have knowledge of what government does and he helps you learn government. This class is great. not for the lame ducks and freeriders! it's for the go-getters.
He is very funny and explains everything very good for the class to understand. He makes the class very interesting unlike other classes where you want to fall asleep. I really liked going to class but I will say u do have to read a lot and keep up with the chapters on the WE THE PEOPLE textbook...
Dr. Blakelock is extremely knowledgeable and fair. He presents information in a straight forward manner and does not try to persuade his students either left or right. He wants his students to be informed of the truth and not just what the media portrays. Excellent class and I highly recommend this professor.
Way too many pop quizes.. He also has a a dry sense of humor... hes not just horrible, but I wouldnt take him again... alot of reading...
You MUST read the book if you want to do well on the tests. Gives extra credit which is awesome, but class notes are tedious and only used for essays. So do not rely on going to class because you do not read. Pretty nice guy- kind of arrogant though.
Dr. Blakelock is awesome. I love the examples he uses to teach govt. He has a great sense of humor. Great choice of prof. for govt if you want to really learn something. He certainly knows his stuff. Plus he is quite handsome!
Blakelock is one of my all time favorite professors. His class is never boring. A lot of quizes and tests but you know what you are making and never in the dark. highly recommend to those who take their education seriously.
A bit harsh, but quite entertaining. He has great stories that goes along with his lectures. Making an A on his tests and a 10 on the short essays might as well be impossible. All in all, a good teacher to have if you're truly interested in learning.
professor blakelock is one of those professors that will always be remebered. he is a hard professor but you will certainly learn a lot. thank you professor for everything!
This professor is very wise and passes on his wisdom through the lectures or conversations. The tests are extremely hard-they don't match with the power points at all, but he does offer easy 3-page essays to help ease the pain. He is a good professor, but don't take him if you want an easy ride or an easy A.
Dr. Blakelock is an awesome teacher. He is smart, helpful, interesting and funny. He uses great stories to connect to the lesson. Read your chapter and take online quizzes and you will be fine! Highly Recommended!
2nd best professor I have had, only reason he's #2 is because my other one was gorgeous lol. But he is very helpful, and his lectures are good and in depth. He's a funny guy, just give him a "pitcher of beer". Test are straight from his power point notes, I got a C off of memory w/ no reading. If you take quizes online& read a lil you'll get an A.
Prof. Blakelock is an interesting, nice man. His tests are extremely difficult, but fair. He does not believe in extra credit assignments. He will answer any questions you have and is more than willing to help. Show up every class and read the material on the syllibus--he likes pop quizzes.
Wonderful teacher. One of the beast at the college. The class is difficult and his tests are hard but his teaching style is very clear and he is helpful outside of class. Do not rely on just notes or just reading, you must do both. The online quizzes are very helpful. We still keep in touch. Great professor!
This is a man who genuinely cares about the state of your education. Expects you to act like the COLLEGE student/adult that you are and handle your business because he will handle his. Take his classes if you are more interested in actually learning than an easy A. Must attend classes to pass. Fair, would take him again in a heartbeat.
Class is interesting, and the quizzes aren't too hard. He's helpful on assignments. he tends to keep class fun
Summer course moves fast. Test includes lecture and textbook material. 3 weekly quizzes from the textbook in Angel. Weekly in class short answer over Freakenomics chapter. Lectures include many interesting life stories and current events. Encourages class discussion. DOES NOT GIVE TEST REVIEWS.
He is a great teacher that will challenge you.The summer class moves fast, but he genuinely cares about government and inspires you to care too. Online quizzes every week. You MUST read the chapters to pass the quizzes and tests. His tests are 50 questions and will have an essay or two. Sometimes for 20 points if two or ten if one. Great class!
Great professor for an online class. Prompt in emails and very helpful. Expects you to have responsibility and late work is not tolerated.
Good Professor. His tests were challenging, but they're not hard if you properly study for them. There are always a few tricky questions though. Attendance in an absolute MUST for this class, so don't think you can just show up on the important days and still pass.
He's a good professor, but very difficult. LOTS OF READING. You have to know your facts exactly for the tests/quizzes. Takes a while to respond. No extra credit opportunities either. If you don't have the time to study REALLY hard, I wouldn't recommend him. But you do learn a lot.
Professor Blakelock knew a alot about government, but the class was difficult. The tests were formatted easily and covered 3 chapters but the quizzes we took for the chapters had nothing to do with the test. I did not feel prepared for the tests. He does not offer extra credit either. I would not take him again.
This was a difficult class. Have to read 3-4 chapters each week with a timed quiz over each chapter and a 50 question test over all 3-4 chapters each week but you're only given 30 min to finish. He doesn't give any study guides and the final is 200 questions. Includes trick questions and things that aren't in the book. Will not take him again.
You must read everyday because there might be a pop quiz. Pay attention to details in textbook. Also make sure to take really good notes in class. There is one essay so make sure you send him a rough draft and you'll easily make an A on it if you do what it says in the syllabus. I thought it was a tough class. Overall is a great teacher!
Blakelock is a really funny guy. He teaches from PowerPoint. Attendance isn't mandatory after the first few weeks, but you miss a lot when you miss, he also gives pop quizzes often over the material that's supposed to be read. Does not give test reviews. You're required to see speakers outside of class, a paper is required over on of them.
He doesn't review for tests, or at least tell you what to study. He asks you very specific questions in the test, and so there's never any way to really pass. He does give pop quizzes often. He gives a powerpoint lecture and you take notes every day. There is A LOT of reading. Wouldn't recommend. But, besides that he seems pretty nice.
Awesome professor! I learned a lot from his class. Make sure you are clear on the expectations of the class and you will do well. Keep up with assignments and readings. You will definitely work for your grade, but it can be done! I would take his class again.
He gives great lectures and makes it interesting and funny. Unfortunately he doesn't review for any of his tests, and his tests are very specific which sucks so its hard to pass. He gives pop quizzes so get ready to read a lot. Nice guy but hes too hard.
Professor Blakelock is really cool overall but he did not review at all for his tests and some of the material was not from the readings. Also to pass his class you must be present for his pop quizzes and if you miss more than 3 you won't pass. Being late to his class is a huge NO as he will rarely open the door if you are late.
Going to class is a must (although not enforced). Often assigns pop quizzes that are easy if you read. Tests are nearly impossible and his essay is stupid. Cool guy but I hated his course content. Even with reading the chapters I still failed! (maybe I'm just dumb, lol)
Don't sign up for this class unless you are willing to put effort into learning and earning your grade. While this class is tough, it is fair. Attendance is mandatory to do well, so is spending quite a few hours outside of class per week readingstudying. Always come to class prepared!
Professor Blakelock does no babying but if you need help you can ask. Be prepared to take up responsibility for yourself. Read when he says read because more often then not there will be a quiz. Do not miss class and especially don't miss any of his 4 exams. Exams are passable if you study the chapters. I'm taking him again for Texas Govt.
He's a really interesting teacher! He makes a lot of references to things that are happening now. He explains things clearly, too. However if you are even a minute late to class he will not let you in, so just beware of that.
Both my hardest and favorite class. He gives random quizzes so you need to read and come to class if you want to do well. I really enjoy his lectures and the discussions we have in class.
You have to work hard to make a decent grade in his class. His lectures are clear and he makes them easy to listen to. He requires you to read and gives random pop quizzes over the readings. His test aren't too hard, but he doesn't review. You must write an essay, but he gives you feed back if you turn it in early. Its a hard class, but possible.
Do not take. Rude guy. Too many pop quizzes. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!
Toughest class I've take in 2 years... Doesn't review for test, expects you to read a lot of information after taking 3 pages of notes, he's good but could be better when it comes to reviewing. Give alot of pop quizzes!!! Do not be late!!!
If you just stay on top of the reading assignments you'll be fine. Really wish he would make a test study guide though. Its hard to pick out what info is important to remember when you gotta reread over 100 pages. Vocab is not the main focus, nor is dates. But you will be expected to know many different ones. He's hard, but I would take again.
Hands down, one of my favorite professors! He makes you work for your grade, and he tells it like it is, no BS. Gives pop quizzes so make sure that YOU READ! And study HARD for the tests, they are not easy! Come everyday if you want a good grade. There is no room for slacking, you will not pass. His class is fun and he's a very funny as well!
He requires you to read a chapter in a book as well as the textbook almost every night. There are short, daily quizzes over either reading assignment. There is one argumentative essay due at the end of the class but he will preread it if you submit it early. Must read to get an A or B but mostly hes fair and has great personal stories
Professor Blakelock wasnt super strict on how he grades, but He covers the entire course with 2 exams, that cover 18 chapters.. He does not give study guides, reviews or anything to give students any idea of what they will be graded over.. Very effective for retaining the general info, but he puts specific questions that trip students up. Watch out
Paul Blalock is the worst Professor I have every in countered in my 3 years of attending college. He is rude and arrogant. He made me fell very uncomfortable by some of the things he has said. I DO NOT recommend him at all!
Rude guy!!!!! Hard class! No study guide, no schedule everything is when he feels like it!!
He is a really good professor! Must attend class regularly and don't be late! He is a funny teacher with good stories that help students understand the topic. I would take his class again!
good professor, funny though he expects students to be adults. great class!
The class was well organized and his expectations were clear, Beware, this is really a college course and you gotta do the work. the course is kinda tough but fair.
I failed his class by only missing a few assignments. You never know when the quizzes will be. The quizzes are over another book (not the textbook) and the questions are meant to trip you up. You have to read over the chapter multiple times if you want to have a chance at passing.
I took Texas government with him. Not a whole lot of homework, mainly just graded off the tests. You must show up to lectures and read the textbook on your own. It was a lot of reading but he grades fairly and has bonus reading quizzes to help your grade. Its not an "easy A" type of class, you gotta work, but he's a pretty cool guy. Firm but fair
It is Great Professional. The test was too heavy to pass, but we got study hard and read again more than twice. One thing is not my favorite is having quiz without knowing when, since he feel like to give us quiz. If you take the course with him, good luck and I hope you success.
Very good professor, very serious about you reading before you come to class. You will do good if you stay up with the reading and write down his lectures. Briefly reviews for exams, should be able to retain, good examples and relation to the book. Recommend you take Federal Govt. at the same time complement each other, same authors of both books.
Dr. Blakelock is a good teacher but is working with a book that should be trashed. The book mixes history with the facts you need to know to pass the course with very little highlighted. The bigger problem is that you are tested on half the book in one test and half on the other. That's a lot to keep in mind for a test. Take good notes.
The first day the Professor stated that he did not give "A's". I took Texas government but most of the material covered was Federal government, which was confusing. There was never any clear grading criteria, and grades seemed to be given at random, or without much justification (for things like essays/research papers). Overall, do not recommend.
DO NOT take this class online. It's ALL reading, no videos or anything. Then the quizzes have the most obscure and random questions. I honestly did not learn anything during this course. The textbook is needlessly wordy and way too long. Do not recommend!!
I like that this class had the same structure every week (1-2 chapters and their tests, and a chapter and discussion from supplemental reading material). Professor Blakelock emailed frequently, usually at the beginning of the week, and always responded when I had questions. Very straightforward class with clear expectatiins. Would take again.
Dr. Blakelock was fair. He is very professional and expects professionalism from his students. It was pretty easy to get an A in this class, but you do need to study! Read the syllabus and check out the final grade process. It is very similar to a curve. There are a lot of chances for extra points. I would certainly recommend him.
Paul Blakelock is a phenomenal government professor. I failed his class and to this day I still advise others to take his government classes. I failed because I didn't try hard enough; do the work, get the grade. He really makes his subject interesting & If he ever runs for President, he has my vote.
He's a good teacher don't get me wrong. But if you don't read the books and study hard you will not pass. The book is very long and boring and very hard to understand if you're not interested in government. Many pop quizzes over the Undercover Economist and the final paper is optional. His lectures are good but don't study the notes for the test.
He is a good teacher he doesn't believe in study guides which would help on test. He just wants you to read. But his test are very hard there was a good 12 people in my class and more than half have failed. I don't recommend his class he does way to much. He goes on and on with conversations with his students in class and let us out late.
Has 3 Exams and a final, 5 quizzes and 3 bonus quizzes/essay. By that being said, these are mayor grades. A lot of reading required to pass his class. He has pop quizzes! with no heads ups. Also, he doesn't give reviews for any exams. Every exam has an essay part, which he gives 7 questions and out of those he chooses 1 on the day of the exam.
Prof Blakelock teaches a real college course and I learned a lot. You have to do your work but it isn't hard to make an A.
Good class if you want to learn about how the government actually works.
Professor Blakelock makes Government 2305 challenging and engaging. He makes it clear that he cares about making sure his students receive the education that they pay for, and has you work for it. Don't skip on reading assignments or lecture time, both will be included in spades on his tests. Challenging, but a great class to learn in.
Paul Blakelock is an excellent Professor. Very funny (will often tell personal stories and speak his mind), very open to questions (will actually re-explain content when needed). You have to read a lot and he does not sugar coat anything including grades! Hard class but he provides you with everything you need to pass and also have a good time.
He was a good teacher, but for me he was hard. I have never been good at history so I was not well in his class. Because of COVID 19 the first part of his class was in person but the rest was online. I barely passed with a B. If you read and pay attention in his class and study you will do fine.
3 exams- Without studying, I got B's. Includes essay portion, but he gives out possible essay questions ahead of time. 5 writing assignments- Based off a not-too-bad economic textbook. Include detail. Easy grader. Multiple chapter quizzes- Don't be alarmed, they're easy. Pay attention to textbook definitions. Nice professor, easygoing.
Great professor, great class, I learned a lot
Best government professor on campus!
Enjoyed the lectures! It wasn't very difficult and I learned a lot.
Fun class and was easy!
Best class I have taken at Lone Star. Enjoyed the lectures and the tests were easy.
Really interesting guy, I learned a lot about government and about life.
Interesting lectures that made the class enjoyable. Easy to pass especially if you go to class.
Fun class! Easy class with extra credit options.
Best class I have had at Lone Star. I thought government would be boring, but this professor's stories made it fun!
Very responsive to my emails and questions. Great lectures! This professor really wants his students to learn and makes it interesting. Easy class to pass with minimal effort.
Loved the fact that you know from the very first day what is expected to make an A in the class. it is especially easy if you show up to class and listen to his lectures which are always entertaining.
As long as you come to class and do the work you will do well.
You have to do your part by reading and studying but come to class and you will learn a lot.
Good guy, great class. Very well organized, I knew each day what to do.
If you can get into one of his classes on campus, you should sign up quickly. Lectures are interesting and he uses lots of real examples about how the world works. Great professor.
He follows the syllabus, and isn't to tough of a grader. Three exams that are time consuming, but not hard. I would recommend him to anyone that needs to take a government class.
This is the second time Ive taken Blakelock, except online this go around. He is accessible and clear about assignments with great online layout. Get ready to read your textbook and be aware of the fact that this prof WANTS you to think! Encouraging with feedback and impeccable organization make this prof one Ill take again and again.
Prof B makes class interesting, I learned a lot and made a good grade!
Professor Blakelock has awesome life experience (hes a vet) that he can bring to GOVT 2305. His lectures are informative and interesting and help you understand how our systems of government work. Tests can be tricky, but he let's you know what prompts could appear. He also offers some extra credit, so, if you do the effort, you'll be fine.
Professor Blakelock was awesome in class! He has experience in the military and knows his history. If you are new to politics take his class because he is very well informed. I have never had a professor give so much interesting information during class, I am pretty sad this semester is over but be prepared to read, SHOW UP TO CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Professor Blakelock was awesome!! I enjoyed the lectures because he provided a lot that could help with the tests. Keep in mind he wants you to think as well that you will have to do tons of reading to do well, but if you put in the effort, you will be fine.
Professor Blakelock seriously the best professor I have had and I am not a fan of learning about government. You are expected to work and put forth effort but the way he presents material makes it impossible to not do well if you put forth the effort. I would take him again for any class he taught.
It's not that I disliked him, his teaching style just wasn't compatible with my learning style. He expects you to read the textbook and the assigned book. He will grade you on that chapter in the book. The exam had 4 questions but they were all written answers, no multiple choice. He does give you a paper online of the possible test questions.
I just got my grade and I made an A! If you do the work, you WILL make an A or B in this class.
If you fail this class, it's because you do not read what he tells you to read. That's it, really. Keep an eye on the syllabus. He's literally the best teacher, he encourages discussion and has very interesting topics. Maybe one day he will provide us with free berries to showcase the freeloader subject haha wink wink
great funny lectures, attendance is a must. Taking notes is a MUST. so much extra credit given. loved his lectures, defintely take again.
His lectures are really engaging and funny. Not boring at all. He also offers extra credit that you should do early in the semester, even if you dont think that you will need it, it will help. I'd definitely recommend him for a in person class.
Great class if you want to actually learn something. Not hard either. Not tons of work, just make sure not to miss anything. Engaging and smart professor.
Took Prof Blacklock's class for Summer. He made the class interesting, which helped pass the longer class times. Really cool dude with alot of experience. Make sure to follow directions on assignments and you will be fine.
He talks all lecture while you look at a power point. Is a tough grader. Give no makeup assignments for any reason whatsoever, if an emergency pops up and you miss a quiz that is it. To me he doesn't keep his class engaged and that was one of the main reasons I did not like his class.
I took his class this semester, it was interesting.. You need to show up to class each day and be prepared for the written assignments but if you don't do well, that is on you.
Awesome professor! He has a bunch of things for students to do, so this isn't an easy class, but knock it all out before it's due and you good homie. I took him during the summer of last year(2022), the second half of the summer semester alongside with College Algebra 1314 and that course was tough for me, but put in the work, & you'll be all good!
Professor Blakelock's class was fairly easy as long as you showed up to the lectures and did all the quizzes. He offers good extra credit early on in the class which is very helpful. Very lecture heavy, but the content is understandable.
Expectations are clear and you definitely have to be on top of things. He goes into depth during lectures so you have to pay attention. He has a dry sense of humor which is entertaining. The class is very engaging if the class is. Not easy but not hard.
The online quizzes are my only complaint because they were difficult, but otherwise great professor. Read the assigned economy chapters and spill your guts out on those quizzes, they raise your grade and are awesome. Also he will look at you funny if you get up to go to the restroom in the middle of the lecture, so go before.
12 quizzes over textbook(easily google-able), 7 quizzes over supplementary book, 3 tests, 1 extra credit essay for 4% of grade. Gives out test questions before test, but they're in essay format. Funny, engaging lectures. As long as you read the supplementary book, take notes, and prepare your test answers pre-test, you're golden. Not hard.
His instructions are clear, lectures are interesting, all you have to do is come to class, complete the assignments and you will be fine. Only slackers fail.
Professor Blakelock's GOV2305 class is engaging and informative. Though the tests can be tricky, doing the readings and attending lectures pays off. I found unstuckstudy to be a great study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a worthwhile course for political science students.
Most transparent professor, sets students up for success. A lot of reading and writing assignments but definitely worth the work.
If you read the textbook chapter and prepare (he allows a notecard) for the economic quizzes, and most of all attend class--you have yourself an A. Very clear expectations and instructions. There is one extra credit essay at the beginning of the semester.
Lectures are entertaining and effective. Written work is graded firmly but online quizzes give opportunities for bonus points. Easy to ask questions and understand, everything should be clear if you listen to the lectures and read a bit at home.
I had his in class 9:30 and he's was very fast talking on his notes and he said everything needed to be written down to have later. allowed a 3x5 card for notes during test. some of the questions on the test we didn't discuss over the lectures and it just seemed like a university class verse a community college class
I enjoyed his class and learned a lot, he lectures a lot but he is really funny. His class isn't hard but youve gotta come to class and prepare for the assignments. Bad students should look elsewhere but if you are a decent student you should take him!
