BEST MATH TEACHER AT OAKTON!!! He makes calculus seem so much easier, his lectures FLOAT! Respectful and treats students as adults. Very profesional. WISH TALK ALL MATH CLASSES. He makes the class VERY WORTHWILE!
awsome teacher
Explains things clearly. Properly prepares students for his tests. Great teacher!
Great teacher. If you come to class, and do your homework you'll be fine. He has awesome reviews before exams which are very similar to questions on the exams. Highly recommended!!
Good teacher, but 2 much work.
He is one of the most amazing teachers. He is wonderful for anyone who has difficulty w/math.If you are worried, he is your best bet!
He is a nice guy and likes to answer questions. His tests come with pretests so they are easy to study with and later in the class you get you use notes for all your tests including the final.
A very good teacher, and he's also very helpful and kind. However, his tests are very difficult.
Amazing teacher, take him if you are worried about math. Just come to class, and do his homework and pretests and you'll leave with an A.
awesome guy! great fun! very clear and very helpful! he was my 2nd fave math teacher at Occ. Great work man! hehe
Not the friendliest guy in the world but an awesome teacher!!! Clear and easy. Just try the homework, ask questions and participate and read notes to pass tests. Helpful as ever!! Yay!!!
I absolutely LOVED this teacher!! He is extremely clear and explains all of the material soooo well! I definitely recommend this teacher!
HE IS AWESOME. HE IS REALLY HELPFUL TEACHER> I REALLY RECOMMEND MY FELLOW STUDENT TO TAKE HIS CLASS>
He is one of the best math teachers I ever had. Always willing to help and ansewer questions. Is vary helpful when it comes to tests.
Math teachers don't get any better than him. Loves to help students and respond to questions. Works very hard to make sure everyone does well. Wish I could take all math with him.
I took calc 2 with him...VERY HELPFUL and VERY FAIR. I think he is one of the best teachers i have had during my whole duration of math classes...although he is hard but he makes it fair(calc 2 is supposed to be hard)
Truly a good teacher. Altough a bit monotone/bland he still managed to keep my interest through lectures. No tricks or gimmicks, very fair and straightforward in his expectations.
Horrible...the man sounds like Ben Stein...definately the worst class I've ever taken in my life...
very clear. Has a fair grading system. His lectures are very helpfull, he teaches all the details about solving the problem. If you commit, its an easy A.
He is a horrible math teacher. Although he gives partial credit on the tests they are difficult. He does not follow the text book all that well which makes it difficult to do homework. Honestly, the worst math teacher I've ever had.
hes ok some say hes the best at occ. his study guides are basically the test. they are hard, gives partial credit and homework is counted. he is a little dull, his tone of voice stays the same so it makes it extremely boring but you get the point.
best teacher for cal 250 by far, everyone else is horrible and too harsh about work load. He is laid back, explains things cut and dry, and if you memorize the review sheet b4 a test you'll surely get an A
He's the best math teacher, he explains materials clear and simple, and He's always there to help you.
He is such a good teacher...so easy so clear...very understanding...the best teacher in math i ever had
He is a good teacher for me! He gives good grades and patient enough. Always help us to go through what we have learned before a test. The test is very easy! He allows us to take a two-side notes for the final~! Good teacher he is~!
hes an ok teacher. gets his point across and makes sure you understand the material. his study guides are your lifeline to pass the course. the are very simialr to his exams. study and you'll do fine.
BESSSSSSSSSTTT MATH TEACHER EVER for mat 250!!!!!!! this guy can teach math so well. He's the best! If you want to do well in math and learn the material, then take his class. All the other teachers aren't as good. Trust me i did my research. He's the best one at Oakton i promise you! i'm even taking his mat 251 course class!
hes a good teacher. hard class though. make sure you do the homework and study. the syudy guides are the test, only changes the numbers used. one of the better teachers at occ
He is awesome!! and pretty easy you just gotta attend his class and write notes or at least listen to him and you will be able to do it right. He uses the book for homeworks and exercises, you don't really need it but its a great use for exercising the topics. He teaches pretty fast so you gotta have time after the classes to sit down and study
THE BEST math teacher. i f you want to learn math and pass it with good grade i recommend u take him.
THE BEST TEACH!!!!!!
He's such an amazing teacher. He'll teach you everything step by step and is wiling to meet with you if needed. You must however, do your homework, and attend class. Best math teacher at oakton, must take!
I think i'm giving him a good rating because of all the bad math teachers at oakton, anyways! Extremely Helpful but u need to do your stuff, this is not one of those just show up professors and get a good grade like John Spaletto.
Easily the best math teacher I've had. He is really clear in his lectures and will explain everything crystal clear for you if you do not understand. His tests are really fair, just pay attention to the problems he assigns for homework. If you get all A's on your tests he'll let you skip the final. Really good math teacher, just sounds like Ben Ste
awesome teacher. really helpful.if u stuck on any prblm he'll help u friendly.he always slove the hw prblm whenever some1 stuck on
Probably the best math teacher I have ever had. He is very clear on the material he presents in class. Gives you a study guide before the test, which is extremely helpful. He really makes math fun and and interactive, a must for every teacher that teaches a complex subject like math (i had calc 1 with him) DEFINITELY recommend!!
The best math teacher out there. He lets students skip the final exam if they get all A's on their tests. By far one of the best teachers out there for math. He also teaches calc., I recommend taking it with him cause the rest of the teachers are garbage.
He is by far the BEST teacher I have ever had. He clarifies the material really well, & goes out of his way to help you. If you do the hw, you'll do extremely well on his tests. I would definitely recommend him. =]
He is simply one of the best professors i have ever seen. Amazing teacher, crystal clear, knows the material really really good. He helps you a lot, i highly recommend him. The whole class loved his style in teaching! if you wanna learn Calculus, don't hesitate taking Professor Boisvert. I wish i could take him over and over and over.
He is the BEST. There is no another words for him.
Great teacher! explains everything well, if you do your hw and study a little bit and know what you're doing, you'll get an A
Does "Calculus" scare you? Take Paul's class. This man makes calculus as easy as ABC. No exaggeration. He is the best math teacher I have ever had in 20 years of my life.
He is so amazing because he can actually think like a student. When he helps he can tell you what you were thinking and how to correct. He is very helpful and occasionally humorous.
Great prof, amazing b/c if you get something wrong he can tell you what you thinking and how to correct-very experienced prof.Tests are straight forward,hw and review "over-prepare"you for the test which is good.Makes calc easy to understand, best math teacher I've ever had.Very fair grader,GREAT prep for calc 2.Highly recommended.Take this class!!
two words are enough. THE BEST!
He explained things unbelievably clearly and gave many examples to reference. The book was good but not used as a source of learning which was ok because he was a great teacher. we moved at a fast pace in class, covered a lot of ground and as long as you copy the problems he has on the board and study it you'll do ok. I never had a teacher like him
Extremely clear with what he is covering, gives lots of examples, and always willing to help.Hes very passionate about math, and has not trouble explaining topics in different ways. If you're taking a math course at Oakton, take it with him. Most people leave his classes with A's and B's, but if you're taking Calculus 2 don't expect a cake walk.
Prof Boisvert is an awesome teacher! He tells you off the bat what to expect and what to look forward too after taking his class.Very helpful and makes the material understandable. Don't miss class or you'll regret it.Do HW, ask questions if your unsure, get help if you need it,and learn from mistakes on HW or Tests which he passes back!
BEST TEACHER TO TEACH AT occ
best teacher to teach math! crystal clear and really cares for his students! The best of the best Mr. B!
Not innovative in terms of how he presents material. Doesn't engage students in class but is always willing to answer questions. Not much personality. Doesn't use real-world examples to illustrate the value of calculus. Big emphasis on trig. Tests are long and difficult but if you can work the review problems, you'll be okay. Would not recommend.
best math teacher ever! took him for MAT 149 and 250. his test are basically the study guide. does homework from the book. takes each chapter slowly so its easy to understand and actually will teach step by step how to do each problem! recommended
He was very easily the BEST math teacher I have EVER had. I highly recommend him to other students trying to get into a precalculus or calculus class. Now I'm trying to get him for my next math class :)
not an easy class, but professor is very helpful in explaining material.
I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Boisvert. He is by far the best and most thorough math teacher I have ever had. If you need to take a math course and he is teaching it make sure you get in his class. If you put the effort in the class is not terribly hard, but he is always willing to help if you need it. Great Professor!
Wow! I never had a math professor like Professor Boisvert! He really goes into detail on what you need to know or expect on homework(s) he assigns as well as exams. Willingly able to help students who have concerns or issues with h.w. problems. I totally would recommend him for a math class, that is, if he is teaching one! THE BEST OF THE BEST! :)
He's very reserved, but also intelligent and very eager to help students. The subject matter is TOUGH, but he breaks down every problem into individual steps and does multiple examples. Don't be afraid to ask questions or visit during office hours. Seems a bit dry in personality at first but there's always more to someone than meets the eye. :)
Really Helpful and always willing to help. Is somewhat clear. Easy A if you work hard and do all the homework (Which is alot) His tests are pretty much covered in the review sheets he gives before tests (Which actually cover's all the class work) Would Recommend!
HANDS DOWN THE BEST PROFESSOR! I was a little afraid of Calc before I've never taken calc before, but the way this professor teaches is beyond phenomenal. If you put in sometime and do the homework and review sheet, your A is guaranteed. Also he's very helpful, I wanted to take Calc II with him, but it's a shame that I don't need it for my major.
Excellent teacher! I took calculus in high school and was very near failing... so I was nervous in taking this class. However, this teacher actually takes the time to explain every step of every problem before moving on. He is always willing to help anyone who is confused. Was not an easy class, but I still managed to get an A in the class.
He is an excellent professor. He doesn't take attendance; however, you will want to attend his class everyday. You wont want to miss the notes. He is crystal clear when he teaches and gives you a step-by-step way to solving problems.Sometimes he goes above and beyond what you actually need to know. If you get all A's on tests, you can skip the final.
Great professor. Is very lenient when grading tests.
Great teacher; if you pay 110% like me and take notes, you dont need to do homework getting a 85
Pretty much the best math professor at Oakton. A total of 4 test and 1 final. If you get A's on the 4 test you dont have to take the final. He makes everything easy. If you listen in class, copy the problems on the board, and fully understand the review before the test, the test is exactly like the review sheet. Easy class, easy A.
Professor Boisvert is the best! The tests are fair, homework assignments are relevant, and he loves answering questions! He truly lives up to his "Greatest Math Teacher at Oakton" reputation. Just make sure you register ASAP because his classes fill up almost immediately. I only wish he taught Calc III so I could have had him all 3 semesters :)
He's a great teacher and helps you learn a difficult subject in class. He let you use a formula sheet during the tests. There were 3-4 tests and if you got an A in all tests, you don't need to take the final. Great teacher!
Took his Pre-Calculus and Calculus class. He is by far the best math teacher at Oakton. Just do yourself a favor and take his class. Listen to all the reviews below.
He is a really great math teacher and covers material in a way that makes it easy to understand. Available for help during office hours if needed.
Paul is a great professor he really know what he is talking about. THIS IS NOT A BLOWOFF CLASS. you have to put time in homework and review guides to pass this class.
Amazing prof. Best math teacher I've ever had.
You have to really do the homework and the review guides. You also need to show up because he'll teach you the best way possible. He'll also answer any question you have and make it easy to understand. If you do all the homework and show up to class, you'll get an A or B. He's probably one of the best teachers at Oakton.
really easy. Would recommend it
Pre-calculus isn't a walk in the park but Boisvert does a great job of breaking everything down and connecting things that may not seem clear. Going over homework helps alot. His reviews have everything thats on the test as well. class is long but that's because you only meet twice a week. Don't fall behind and you'll pass or skip class
He seem to be a little bit overrated here. Maybe he is easy for lower math classes, but when you are taking high upper math classes, it takes effort to pass this class with this instructor. He is very good at teacher, but he is not God. You still have to do your part.
Okay it is true that if you get an A in all the other tests you don't have to take the final. BUT if you have to take it, it is MUCH different than all his other tests. He shoves everything you learned into 13 problems and only gives you an hour and a half to do it. If you want to take this class just make sure to get the A's in the other tests
Tests were easy as long as you paid attention in class. The final however is nothing like those tests. AVOID TAKING THE FINAL AT ALL COSTS.
beat math teacher i've ever had. breaks down the material really well. all of the tests are identical to his study guide given out before hand, but with different numbers.
The best professor I have taken! He breaks down the problems. He will make sure to explain it to you in a variety of ways. You need your book to do hwk. Hwk is collected the class after the exam. There are 4 exams and 1 Final. I got As on all 4 exams and didn't have to take the final. Exams are similar to the study guides. Attend review sessions.
Probably the best math professor I've had. ever. He gives a lot of homeworks, but you turn it in the day after the test. He just glances that there is a problem and you have some sort of answer. Tests are very easy. You can skip lectures if you want to and learn off of khan academy and still ace tests. Get A's on tests and don't take the final.
Professor Boisvert is really helpful and absolutely knows what he is talking about. Expect homework and do them because it just helps to have more practice, but they will be taken after each exam. Now, if you listen to his lectures and write what he puts on the board--they will surely be on the test. Get all A's on his exams no final for you!
Amazing teacher!!! The explanations of the all the lectures and the chapters in the book maked it so much easy
He explains the material very well, but theres alot of homework. The homework weren't that helpful for the test. His notes are more useful. HE gives a study guide which is useful its similar to the test but he will change up the numbers or change up what you need to find on the exam.
Professor B is hands down the best math professor there is! His lectures are great! He's very organized, moves at a reasonable pace, and answers all your questions without making you feel like an idiot for not understanding the material. I took him for both PreCalc and Calc 1 and he's the absolute best! I wish more of my professors were like him.

I would take all my math classes with him if I could! He's the best math teacher I've ever met, awesome lectures, you learn a lot from him. Take good notes; he will write important things on the board. Study guide that is similar to exam. Get A on all 4 exams and skip final! He's a very understanding person and just a super great teacher overall.
By far the best math teacher that ever existed. He makes you love math if you hate it. Always very clear and makes everything seem so easy. Yes, you still have to do your work and practice plenty before taking a test but you retain so much at the end of each class that you never forget what you learned. He is the God of Math.
He's the best math teacher I've ever had! Took him for Calc II, and I miss him in my current Calc III class. He makes math so fun, easy and interesting!! Some ppl say calc II is the hardest calc ever, but for me it became the easiest and funnest cuz I took it with Prof. B. You'll learn so much! If I could, I would take all my math classes with him!
Should get a NOBLE PRIZE! Best math Professor i have ever taken in my life. TBH! He gives a study guide right before the tests which are almost similar to the actual test. But if you just go to lectures.. You wont even need to study cause he makes math really easy. Even wrote me a recommendation on such a short notice for a different college.
He cares about his students and he's passionate about math. I took him for Pre-Calc and got a B. Was he hard? Yes, but awesome at teaching. His lectures are interesting and most of all very clear. His Pre-Calc class prepared me for his Calc 1 class which i received an A in. He made me love math and I'm going to miss his teachings.
Best teacher I've had so far. Excellent lectures, very well presented. He will even give you common mistakes that students make so you can avoid them. He encourages students to ask questions and he respects his students. You learn a lot in class. I am going to take him again for Calculus I. I will not consider other teacher. He is that good!
Cant say he's a bad professor, but can't say he's good either. Teaches the material well but goes extremely fast. Wording in his tests and study guide isn't proper english so it might be confusing. Did accuse me of cheating because he was careless and didn't look through the test properly. Like how a professor should. Overall ,not bad.
Prof Boisvert is extremely smart and was always so helpful. He tries explaining the harder materials in terms that are understanding for everyone rather than complicated definitions. His study guides are similar to the exam and show you exactly what you need to know. He made Calc 1 a breeze for me and I would forsure take him again!
Best Calc professor at oakton. We had 4 major tests and 1 final exam. If you do your hw and review sheet, you will be fine. I would definitely recommend to take him
I took his calc 1 class. I absolutely loved it. It was a 2 hour and 20 minute class, and he gave us a break around halfway through each class. He lectures straight through but will answer any questions you have during the class. Also goes over homework questions at the start of every class. Gives a day of review before each test and helps everyone.
