Monotone voice, indifferent attitude

Sarcastic - sick but funny!

Hahhahaa. He is sooo dry it is hillarious. Wonderful man
Awesome teacher and funny!
Dry material made difficult by the worst teacher i've ever had
rockin'!
Glad it's over!
He was funny, some times too sarcastic
He makes jokes that only a few people understand, but they are funny as hell!!!!
he's a very angry human being
talks like Ben Stien, and a funny guy. those who gave bad rating don't know what they are talking about, because he repeats everything like four times. Is able to teach controversail classes in a non-biased way.
Fantastic teacher - loved his witty sarcasm.
Very funny. Nice teacher and good lectures
I don't usually like professors who do solely verbal lectures, but this guy's hilarious!!! Plus, he repeats importnant points all the time so you don't miss them. And for an older guy, he's pretty sexy... .
Oh my. GREAT PROF. Great humour, friggin hilarious, love the sarcastic monotone way he presents his lectures, you have to try and get into one of his classes!
He reminds me of Al Bundy. This guy never smiles, has a weird mind, and is sometimes disorganized in his lecture material. However, he goes over main points well and you should do well if you study and come to the debates. All tests are multichoice too.
He mumbles too much. If he did say something funny, I couldn't hear it.
monotone, grimmice smile, sarcastic, and hillarious. M/C tests, boring lectures, no reviews, but goes over important points. i think we counted 64 times that he looked at the clock in an 80 min lecturr/he starts on time whether you're listening or not
Loved this teacher, I plan to take his social work class in the fall, do you guys know that he looks at this website and adds good/bad stuff under his name just to see who has the guts to come to his class. Its all part of the twisted humour that is Paul.
Paul has been an amazing influence in my student life, i like sociology and i understand more now that i took two os his classes, he has an amazing way to inspired you to come to class, his humor is dark and very funny..yous just have to understand him!
What a great prof, everyone should take a class from Paul. The guys will love his sarcasism and the girls will love to look at him...so sexy and smart
Hey everyone, you need to know that Paul is one of the best profs I have seen in a long time. what a great teacher
His lectures can be interesting, he's sarcastic, funny and witty. Tests are M/C and its not too hard to get a good grade. Often seems like he hates his job, but overall a pretty good class to be in
If you can handle the monotone and dry sarcasm, he's a really interesting Soc teacher. Also if you show great interest in the material, he'll give you extracurricular stuff that will blow you away.
Isn't it funny how the opinions are on opposite ends? It's prob. based on class interest. Our class is predominantly criminal justice, and he tends to makes cracks about our intelligence and bestiality. Unfortunatly he is the best Soc 100 teacher, so you'll probably just have to put up with him.
Paul's a great teacher, so funny, easy tests, pretty much the same format for all his classes. Can be really sarcastic, but has a really fun view of the world!
Evil eyes are scary
too monotone....the class was boring and seemed pointless. could have had a better prof...hes funny sometimes though
Paul is a nice guy... but very much a socialist, blames everything on the liberal govt! you have to read the text as well as take a lot of lecture notes, he tests thoroughly on both. overall, a good guy who has strong opinions about what he teaches, and very funny!
Paul reminds me of Ben Stien, but you can't win his money...he has none :) The facial expressions are enough reason to show up for class and if you think that dry sarcastic humour is a good thing here is the class for you.
The guy is a complete whack job. He humilates people in front of the class. He doesn't care about you or what you think. Tests are pretty hard. He fails to realize the students are paying for the class and that we pay his paycheque. Get a life Paul Brady!
paul brady is definetly a great prof. he knows what hes talking about. he does have very strong opinions. facial expressions are awsome. he is known for shooting down answers a student suggests. aslong as u stay on his good side u'll enjoy the class. PS. avoid taking a tower of empty beer cups
This is probably the worst teacher i have ever had. he tries to get students to "discuss" but really he just wants opinions other than his that he can shoot down. i seriously hate this guy. tries to be funny, i think he has some serious issues.
Brady was a bit monotone but it had a great sense of humour. His notes and discussions were clear and he kept me interested. I learned a lot from his class and thought he was a veru fair marker. I liked the writing assignments too.
Paul is an awesome lecturer! He's funny and really interesting, and I learned a ton arguing with him all semester. He's been my fav prof so far
Certainly makes otherwise dry, boring marerial a little more interesting...simply by the way he talks...and his facial expressions. My first impression of him was silence of the lambs, but he turned out alright. Tests aren't always easy, tests on a lot of notes and text reading.
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PROF!! i have never had a class that i expected to enjoy more and ended up hating like i hate this class. unfortunately, this has NOTHING to do with the material. this prof is unclear, unfocused, biased and basically a terrible teacher. the social work pre-reqs are available through correspondence with BCOU.
Warning: WORST TEACHER EVER! Made SocW a living nightmare. could not get more off track and be more vauge about instructions as well as LECTURE MATERIAL. Terrible sense of humor. Take class at own risk.
I really enjoyed going to this class and I think Paul made the class fun and very informative. I learned a lot from taking this class. Paul is very funny and HOT!
Funny, funny man.
Totally uninspiring
Not interested in actually *teaching* a class. Took his class online. Online= he does no work. Do not take online, there are debate questions due every week and zero discussion with other classmates. As if he isn't doing little enough work as it is, he makes his tests multiple choice and true and false on scantron sheets. Thumbs down!
Although his class was online he kept it interesting with a good textbook and interesting sites to check out. He was also very helpful and understanding if there was a reason you couldn't be there for an exam. (I don't know why but he reminds me of Ryan Stiles...)
great teacher. Extremely intelligent and entertaining. It was a joy to be in his class.

Tests are relatively easy if you have read the text thoroughly because everything on the exam was in the text. Often frustrated by the lack of involvement for a sociology class and didn't feel that the style of testing was suitable for a sociology course.
Solid bro of a teacher. Doesn't seem pushy with what he's teaching. Probably doesn't actually want to be there, but hey do we? He makes things a little more interesting with the whole cocky side he shows. Thumbs up!

Debate units were easy marks, but the way the debates were organized was frustrating at best. In regular class discussion, Paul clings to the text and theories in it like they are life preservers and he is lost at sea without them! Just read the book know the theories and you'll be fine, but don't expect an inspiring learning experience.
Funny guy. His teaching could get really boring at some points but overall it wasn't too bad. Tests are pretty much based around the text and in class lectures so if you pay attention and attend you've got an A.
Completely unapproachable, every time people go up to him to ask any question, he roles his eyes and doesn't fully listen... he is poor marker and doesn't open his mind to other people's points of view. He's annoying
MONOTONE guy, sucks
P. Brady is so funny and amazing!!
Hilarious, entertaining class. (If you like dry, sarcastic humour). Also, I kind of want him ;)
Paul is very clear. Any fool can do well in his course if they chose to attend. He does his best to provide you with all the information you need in the clearest manner possible. He is a hoot and his dry humour makes class fun!!!
Paul's Class is so boring. He is so unnapriachable! and he is not interested in what any one else has to say. He has his view and thinks that every one else should have the same view! WHAT HAPPEND to being OPEN MINDED? He teaches Scoail work but I feel as if he has NO EXPERIENCE! and would be a HORRIBLE social worker! he is against technology!!
Tests and lectures taken exactly from website. Very uninspiring prof and rude when approached. Avoid if possible!
come on, you know you hate your job when all your students can tell by the tone of your voice! just quit already! changed my mind about this field based on this teacher's lack of hope for the world
Definitely feel like he doesn't want to be there and his jokes get old pretty fast (and creepy at times). Class is boring and the debate assignments are ridiculous and rarely lead to any real debate. His tests are easy though, especially if you do the online practice tests!
Paul is an odd one, and hes not very approachable... But hey if you read the text, and do online quizzes.. you should get an A
Brady was great. Funny, and hardnosed and smart. He didn't have a ton if time for the bleeding hearts... which were probably the people who posted negative comments. The tests were easy as long as you read the text and go to class.
Funny Guy
Paul is a really intelligent man, and is very critical of the gov and the social work field. He and I butted heads on a few issues, but overall we got along well. Unfortunately he doesn't focus on anything positive, and it's made me really question whether I want to do social work as a profession.
Easy to understand and marks fairly. Can be difficult to approach due to sarcastic demeanor. Best to stay quiet in this class.
Easy to follow and easy enough to approach, this professor is clear, helpful and knows what he's talking about. His sense of humor can be amusing but it comes with a very dark cynicism that can make for an uninspiring and even depressing class. That said, as unhappy a man as he seems, he is an excellent teacher and I highly recommend him.
If you want an easy first year course, take SOC 100 with Brady. The only thing you are graded on is his non-cumulative tests and debate units where you discuss an article in a group. Read the material, do the practice tests online and you'll breeze through this class.
At first I found him intimidating. There are 4 debate units each valued at 7%. He is quite particular about the criteria for acceptable debate questions. There are 4 debate assignments per semester. I highly recommend going to see him prior to handing your questions in. While he may seem intimidating in class, he is quite approachable 1 on 1.
I really enjoyed this class. The material was interesting, and the lectures were engaging. Dr.Brady is very clear when explaining things, and if you ask for him to clarify something 1-on-1 he is more than welcome to go over things with you. Love his sense of humour.
Very clear, cleary experience, cynical but honest. Neat dry humour.
I hated this teacher, he was rude and condescending. He would get mad at our class for not speaking up and then would be rude to who, ever spoke up. I hated his methods. With that said it is am easy class to get an A in.
Brady tells it like it is and for that I respected his class.
Paul's sense of humor is pretty dark, which I find hilarious. He likes to on tangents though, so beware. It was always really stuffy in the classroom and it was often hard to stay awake. Interesting subject matter though. I don't know if I would want to take another of his classes, but he is the only teacher for 211 so I don't have a choice.
The course content is pretty dry in this class but Brady supplies course outlines noting what's important for you to know for the test. Regular lecture attendance required as some things covered on the exam were not in the text. Minimal work required: exams and debate units are the only things you're graded on, no assignments.
He is hilarious. His sense of humour makes the depressing topics more enjoyable. Showing up to class and doing the practice quizzes will help you do well in the class.
Great prof, uses extremely dark humour which keeps you engaged throughout the lectures. Exams can be tricky but not too difficult. Just read the notes, text, and do the online questions and you'll be fine. Follow ALL instructions for the debates and it will boost your mark even more. Exams are all multiple choice too. Got an A and learned a ton :)
Paul is very experienced, and goes out of his way to send you a few emails every week on interesting reading material and each chapter outline. He notices when people aren't in class so you should go to make sure you get all the notes needed for exams, as relying on the text alone will not help you.
Excellent teacher, very old school. Make sure to attend all classes and take notes as he speaks as he gives away all keywords for exams and even writes some of them up. I only glanced through the textbook and got 97% on this class. I know people who failed due to not attending the classes even though they read the textbook. I loved his dark humour!
Has the worst exam marks school wide. Condescending when you ask questions too. Guess it's possible to get a high grade if you're able to make good debate questions which seemed next to impossible. Avoiding in the future
One of the worst profs I have yet to come across. This man reads directly from the text. Very dull, impassionate, he would roll his eyes as I was asking questions. It felt almost impossible to win with this man, he is very stubborn, and anti-technology. Basically his teaching style wasn't helpful for me at all. Never received a D in my life.
Do not take sociology with Paul Brady. Take it with Peter Ove or anyone else! His lectures are so useless and boring, but he structures grades around attendance so you have to attend, and his class is UNBEARABLE. He tries to "encourage" debates in his class, but shuts down any debate when it's different from his own opinion.
Paul is awesome; he knows his stuff, keeps fairly up to date with current issues, and is hilarious if you like dry humor. His classes aren't extremely hard but you do have to TRY. Go to lectures, do online tests, and get an A.
Dr. Brady has an attitude of boredom and disinterest during every lecture. Doesn't intergrate technology into any lesson, so classes are pretty boring. He was also very unapproachable for help on assignments, and has a generally rude and standoffish attitude. I wish this teach has been more personable and less depressed. He's cute but avoid anyway.
Has a very strange sense on humour, but you will learn a lot in this class and it is really easy to get an A+ with almost no effort. All the exams are multiple choice and he copy and pastes them from the practise tests. Need to go to the classes as if he notices less people are going he puts more questions from the lectures on the test.
Paul is a tough nut to crack, but he makes the usually depressing material of social work digestible and even enjoyable with his dark sense of humour. Don't take his standoffishness personally; he's just a quiet guy. If you come to class and pay attention and demonstrate critical thinking, he will be nicer to you. He knows a lot, so listen.
Super boring. He can be pretty offensive and rude, but dont take it personally. It's normal to be called a commie or fachist in his class. Personally... don't take his class unless you HAVE to.
The first class you have with Brady you will think he is messing with you. He isn't. Thats just Paul Brady. He wants kids to be passionate... but he doesn't create an environment where you want to share ideas. Paul is VERY old school. Buckle up.
Everything expected as well as how to do assignments is on the course outline. You need to show up for lecture, as it gives information that is not in the textbooks. I enjoyed the lectures, they give interesting information and I like his dry sense of humour. He really hates cell phone use in class, but I agree with him on that.
Having already worked in community Social Services in Mental Health, Addictions & Homelessness. I can honestly say this teacher is the absolute most awful example of how social work should be done. He is closed minded, offensive not to mention down right discriminatory ! This guy should not be teaching! Horrible! Worst teacher I have ever had!
At first I was apprehensive about the dryness and pessimistic nature of Paul's lectures. But he is actually very humorous and wise! Go to class, take notes. The syllabus is crystal clear with what is expected of you and when. Tests are very fair, and there is not a heavy workload. He became one of my favorites and I look for him when I sign up
I enjoy Paul's dry sense of humor. He's a unique individual that doesn't adhere to the norm. Paul is old school and appreciates students who pay attention and value their education. If you attend class and take good notes, you will do well. Period.
No electronics in class. Verbal notes. 3 tests - all MC. On the front, Paul seems like a weird guy with a darkish sense of humor but under that, he's actually a great guy and is very knowledgeable. Go to class, listen and take good notes, read the text and you'll come through with an A. Hint: a lot of test questions are from the book!
Was a good teacher, lectures were pretty interesting. Especially with all the pessimistic comments he always makes. Funny sense of humor. Would have been a better class but half my class was to stuck up.
Paul Brady was an hilarious teacher and I would definitely take his class again. His humor was great and was always good for fun class. Easy tests and not too much homework. Hates cellphones and will mock you in class if you say something not too bright.
Paul is pretty funny, loved his humor! No homework!
Paul is pretty old school, but you learn a lot from him. His sarcasm and slightly odd sense of humour make the content of social work/social welfare less monotonous. I really enjoyed his teaching style, and his hatred for phones/laptops really doesn't matter. He's quite opinionated, but also really intelligent and made me laugh every class :)
It's all easy if you listen to him and write it down and STUDY but seriously Paul Brady is a kind, funny guy who's just fed up with all the government corruption. Wish he was in charge on a larger scale.
Brady is an amazing prof! Has a darker sense of humour and will mock students for stupid answers. Absolutely hates cell phones and laptops so make sure you are ready to take notes and listen! We were only marked on attendance, tests, and debates. Tests weren't tough and debates were fairly easy as we were in groups of four.
Paul is an odd fellow. Very monotone, has a dark sense of humour, however overall a pretty dry prof as well as dry material. gives verbal notes and often goes off on pointless tangents. Just sit there and listen and write down the few useful things he mentions and you will be fine. follow instructions EXACTLY for debate units. Test were very easy.
Paul has an odd sense of humour, however he keeps the class interesting and is very good at explaining the concepts. There not a lot of assignments, so put effort into debate assignments and you'll do well. His tests are easy and straight forward, just make sure to show up to class and you'll get a great mark. Overall, super knowledgeable
He is very old fashioned and has a super dark humour. If you miss a class and are unable to get the notes, you are basically screwed (he reads the notes out loud and does not use d2l or give notes out to anyone that was absent; you would have to ask a classmate). I wouldn't recommend it if you are not an audio learner.
Paul is an amazing teacher! Make sure you show up to class, he doesn't except work if you miss a certain amount of classes. He has an odd sense of humour, but he is amazing at teaching. Make sure to show up to class, and the textbook follows almost exactly what you do in class. Overall a really good teacher.
Clear about expectations for grades, which are easy to fulfill when you show up. It was a class I looked forward to attending every week Dr Brady has a way of lecturing that helps you hold onto information, he challenges you to think critically, use accuracy, and share your views. Nonetheless it is a first year course and fairly easy to pass well.
Paul is an AMAZING teacher. Only 3 midterms that are multiple choice, and 3 in class debates in small groups and further class discussion. Knows materials well, however he does have online notes so you must attend classes. Textbook is helpful but not mandatory. Overall a really good and in-depth class to take
12/10 would recommend, only 3 multiple choices tests, and super easy thoughtful debates. Notes in class are clear, and he is easy to keep up with. Says "Jim Pattison is your daddy" a lot!!:)
It seems that you either love this prof. or hate him. I absolutely despise his prehistoric teaching style, and if I had known it I would have taken another prof. Besides wanting to wear ear plugs in his class to avoid his monotone sarcasm for an hour and a half I'd say the class is easy. He is very knowledgable, and I respect that, just not for me.
