Paul is awesome! He deals directly with the students and does not hesitate to help when needed. I think his goal is to ensure each student understands and passes his class. If you try in his class you will pass. Pay attention and you will get an A+!

For the first time in my life math seemed fun. He makes sure that everyone understands the material. He's very helpful and explains the material in a manner inwhich it actually seems easy. Do yourself a favor and take his class.

Great guy, hilarious. If you make the effort to come to class and try, Buckelew is the professor you want. Only downside? Talks at like fourty million miles an hour. Just be sure to ask for help after class (since time doesn't permit much explaining) and you'll be all set.

I was very afraid of taking math in college, but I had him for Int. Alg. and College Alg. and he is GREAT! He is very funny, makes class worth coming to. The accent makes everything he says more interesting/funny!

On my first day, I was expecting just another boring math class. I can live with math, but I certainly don't love it. Mr. Buckelew is very funny, and he explains math using analogies, making it easier for people to comprehend the subject at hand. He is also there to help his students as much as possible. I really recommend his class!

He was my 1st professor at OCCC and made me really enjoy this semester! He is my favorite teacher because he's so funny, energetic, passionate about math, and is eager to help you. I HIGHLY recommend that you take him for math! Just do your homework and COME TO CLASS (he gives extra credit) and work hard b/c it is calculus... and you'll get an A.

Fantastic Professor!

Mr. Buckelew is an awesome algebra teacher. Anyone having difficulties with math should take him. He helped make my worst subject one of my favorite subjects in just one semester.

He is an all-around wonderful professor. There aren't any downsides to his class. Teaches in a way that is entertaining. Relates his teachings to real life examples to simplify it. Gives you plenty of time for homework. Prepares you well for tests. If I could take more classes with him as the professor, I would.

If you need a Math professor that will teach you well, be available in his office, the Math Lab or e-mail...He is the one. First of all, He's British, he's funny. Second of all, He's one of my favorite math proffessors I have ever had. I made College Algebra and Calculus just flew by. I personally think the people who don't like him, are the people who really suck at math, hate math deeply, and so that leads them to hating him! Anyways, he's basically the best!

Awesome teacher. Best Math Class I have ever taken. His humor is corny which makes it funny. You should learn a lot if you care to. You don't really need a book, but I used it every once in a while to prepare for the test, easier then the online book. Tests are pretty easy if you studied. (DO THE PRACTICE TEST!!! :) )

Good Professor ever. Very helpful and always help you when we need help; he never turn you down. he want his student to get A". FLAH card for his TEST, you can write anything you want. wonderful test review, his test review and exam almost the same.

We never used the book. He taught math in a way that I could understand, and made it fun. He is extremely helpful, and gives plenty of examples. If you show up, and take the notes there is no way you can't be successful in his class. He also gives you the choice to take the tests in class or the test center. Best professor I've EVER had.

Calculus I. He is my favorite teacher so far. The quizes are easy because they are all open notes/open book/open hw. BUT the tests aren't that bad if you do all the homework.He is a very energetic and funny teacher. He makes learning calculus fun!

By far one of the best (if not the best) teacher I have ever had. He never uses a book, which worried me at first, but he explains things in fun understandable ways. I couldn't ask for a better math teacher. I wish he taught all my math classes!

Buckelew is a great professor! If there is something that you don't understand, he helps you understand. Be in class to take notes and do the quizzes. His tests are straightforward. If you do the homework problems that are in the syllabus, then you're set for the test.

You learn in groups, he sets us up in groups and encourages us to form study groups together and to help each other out.He always answers your questions and emails promptly even on his days off. This is the best professor I have came across in my 3 years of college. He is extremely thorough, entertaining, visual, he loves what he does, and he's an excellent teacher. TAKE HIM if you have the chance, for any subject. You won't regret it.

My first semester in college and I did great in his class. Real easy as long as you have general knowledge from algebra in high school. Even if you didn't, it's still easy to learn algebra. 2 assignments a week is pretty easy to deal with, especially one's that took me 3 minutes to complete.

I took his online Algebra class. Apparently I do not do well teaching myself algebra. I went to his office to ask a couple of questions and he taught me everything I needed to know for the test. He sat with me for about an hour each section to help me. He was one of the best professors I've had so far.

He add a quiz at the beginning of every class. That's why class is mandatory. They are very easy because they are just the assigned hw from the night before. He is the type of person who gets you excited about class and what you are learning.

He is a great teacher. He is very helpful if you go to his office for assistance. Do all your homework and reading quizzes. Have you notebook in great order with everything in it and in order. He offers only partial retake on the test so don't plan on retakes to study for the test. I like that the last test is take home and only worth 5%.

I took him for Calc III because i did not had choice to my first preference. take Charles Nunley. No doubt that he is good at teaching and also all good qualities that a good teacher could have. He makes you do all HW, its worth 5% of overall grade, also online reading Quiz before each class worth same! and terrible quizzes made me end-up getting B

Excellent professor. You will need to attend every class because there is a quiz. Great at explaining difficult concepts and making them seem not-so-bad. Definitely recommend.

Ahahaha!!! I LOVE this guy! I come to class & just crack up laughing. I've taken Mr. Buckelew for Calculus I-III & I'm sad that he doesn't teach anything higher. I took Calc-I over the summer & MAN was that homework heavy for a summer course! Incredibly worth it though, I would take it again in a heartbeat. Both HW & reading quizzes daily.

Great Professor!!! Absolutely love this guy. He's from london and has a hilarious accent and tells all kinds of jokes. Makes learning much more fun and enjoyable. Just took him for Calc-2 over the summer and he let us use notes on the test which helped tremendously. Definitely a lot of homework but that is understandable for an 8-week course.

Dude moves really fast, but if you can keep up with him he teaches things really clearly and gives great examples. His tests aren't too hard, but you'll definitely need to put some time in to pass his class. If you can get some tests from his past semester they help a lot.

Great professor, always willing to help. One of the few professors Ive had who does more than just lecture. Hes never afraid to interact with the class, answer questions and give examples plus hes hilarious. Just do ALL of your homework and come to class. Hes lenient if he knows youre putting in a lot of effort. Absolutely amazing professor!!

Prompt responses to emails. Just do the homework and practice questions that he provides before an exam. you will get an easy A. if u cant solve the problem, ask him. He is ready to help always. very nice and kind. i wish all courses for my major were taught by him.

Im finishing the summer Calc 3 course w/ Buckelew. Online reading quiz due each day before class. Each hw is 5 problems & due 2 days after being given. There is a day before each test for review. Buckelew is hilarious and makes it fun. Come to class, do homework and review problems and you will pass. Review the integration techniques from Calc 2.

Just finish a journey with him, from cal 1 to difq, he's hilarious. Don't skip class since you only make your life more difficult. Come to class and enjoy his section. I'll miss him a lot when i get to university. He's not only a wonderful professor but also a kind person, you'll like him

I took him for calculus 1, 2, and 3. I did great in all of them. He's hilarious, he's lectures are not heavy and he also makes them interesting. He encourages his students to have a study group, not only for his class but for math/engineering classes in general. He's caring and if you talk to him he will be understanding!

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. I've taken his classes from Trig through Calc III and this guy will make you love math. He gives awesome lectures and really cares about his students. Just come to class, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, find a study group, go to the math lab, and make the cheat sheet. Could not recommend him more.

Ive taken college algebra twice and this was the last time I was gonna try. (I'm terrible at math) Out of the professors I have had in the past he's been the BEST!!!! Definitely recommend! He makes lectures so fun with his humor and finds different ways to help you learn the material.

Paul is a great professor. This class is basicly a review of highschool alegbra 1 and 2. The third test is by far the hardest test. Once you figure out your graphing calculator this class is not bad. You will have to spend time outside of class to pass this class. If you get 100% on all of your HW the you get 5 points bonus on your test. TAKE HIM!!

Definitely one of the best professors at OCCC! In the beginning, his fast-paced lectures intimidated me, but it made me a better student and I learned to adapt to his teaching style. He cares about his students and believes in second chances.

This professor has become my favorite one, so far. He takes math and makes it fun. I haven't had math in over 30 years and I came out with a 97 in his class. I never understood math, until now. He seriously loves teaching and wants nothing more than for you to understand math and pass his class. There isn't anything negative about the man.

I LOVED taking Calc III with Professor Buckelew. I wish I would've listened to Professor Harrelson and taken him for Calc II. His lectures are fast-paced but if you review your trig and material already covered before class you'll be able to keep up and have a laugh. He is very responsive to emails and wants the best for all his students.

10/10. Would take his class again. I STRUGGLE with math but his lectures were clear and he was ALWAYS available to answer questions. I took it online, during the summer, during COVID so everything, tests, assignments, finals, etc. were all 100% online.

It was honestly so wonderful having Paul as my Calc II professor. He was kind, very funny with his puns. He always made time to meet with you if you needed it and would pop into group calls to check up on everyone. He was very understanding and his lectures were very clear. If you didn't understand something he would explain it so you would get it.

I would definitely take one of his classes again. I really struggle with online classes and tend to get super stressed out, but he really helped keep a calm atmosphere. I liked how he let us move at our own pace, but was always there to answer questions if you had them. His lectures were very thorough and were not boring in any way.

Good, clear lectures. Thoroughly covers topics you have to do homework on and are tested on. Approachable and accessible during office hours. No extra credit and no late assignments allowed. Fast and generous grader. Allows you to use any computational resource so long as YOU are the one doing the work. Felt like I learned a lot, would take again.

I took it online and watched his prerecorded zoom lectures and they helped a lot. If you need help just ask. He was extremely helpful each time. Since the homework is online, it can get pretty difficult but you can do the questions however many times you need to, to get the grade you want. If you get A's on all the homework you will pass.

Pretty good professor, you have to show up for the class (zoom) as a part of your grade. The class is made up of just homework, classwork, and tests, so as long as you make 100's on the homework and classwork, you just need to worry about doing the tests. Understanding teacher, bit distracted at times, but good!

Teacher Buckelew is the best teacher that I have ever taken at OCCC. His exam, homework, and everything is all related to what he taught. He is also really caring and responds well. If I had the chance, I definitely would take his class again.

Great professor! Make sure you attend lectures as there are graded group "classwork"s due after class which are worth 20% of the grade. Also he does pop quizzes during classes (which weren't worth any credit this semester but he said would be in future semesters). Homeworks and tests are pretty easy. Make sure you study for tests and take notes!

Buckelew is a nice guy, I think he means well. However, I would say only about 25% of what I learned came from class time. Most of the time I had to study and teach myself... the majority of my knowledge came from homework.

How the class was set up was you would take notes outside of class and he would do examples during class. All your classwork is done in groups of about 4. The lectures were pretty clear and he had many office hours if you had questions. The tests are pretty hard but as long as you review the classwork and homework you should be good.

Great professor! moves fast expects retained knowledge from prior classes. With a good work ethic and outside online tools he is passable. Also office hours are always available and he genuinely wants you to succeed but not without your effort. I worked full time through his class and have a family. Recommend

Buckelew is a great professor. Funny guy and I found his lectures/notes to be excellent. He really does give you everything you need to pass the class. Calc II can be a tough subject but he is able to make up for that.
