great teacher
i would recommend this professor his teaching is excellent!
He was always available for help outside of class!
I feel like I understand precalc concepts a lot better. I came to all the classes and barely did the homework; his notes were so clear and meaningful that there was no need. If you are good at math, skip buying the book!
Very good teacher, very clear, and extremely helpful outside of class. Highly recommended.
Great teacher. He is nice, and he makes it very easy to understand math and gives practice tests that highly resemble the real tests. Highly recommended.
great notes, and you know exactly what to expect, and he is very helpful if your having trouble!
Very friendly guy and a great teacher. Goes through the material at a good pace, very helpful and very lenient with the gradings. Highly recommended.
Great teacher! Very involved and crystal clear learning style!
This was Prof. Canepa's first time teaching an online course and he was better than any other online teacher I have ever had. I would highly reccommend taking his course. He breaks the course into chapter segments, there are 6 tests - lowest dropped, and he returns all test scores within 2 days. He is extremely helpful and nice!
he is very clear with his notes and clears any problem up you may have this is my second time taking him and he still is one of my top profs to pick for math he gives plenty of examples very good prof HIGHLY RECOMMEND for every one but especially if math is not your topic
THE BEST EVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! He makes you want to learn math. He relates the hardest and/or most boring sections of math to things that catch our minds like crime shows. He works with you and extends his office hours in order to help you. There is a ton of writing as far as note taking goes but it is well worth it. He breaks every aspect of math
Hes a very nice person but I almost feel as if he isn't sure of himself because he's very shy and quiet. He's very helpful. Also, don't mistake his shy, quiet attitude as a push over. HES NOT. I still recieved a D in that class.
Paul is an awesome teacher, he is very helpful and knowledgeable abot Pre Calc and Calc. He is also pretty cool and funny once he loosens up. I definitely recommend taking his class!
I had him for other math classes and that's why i took him for calc 1. Great professor and very reasonable. He's willing to help outside of class and he's very clear in his explanations. He definitely seemed a little unsure/shy at the beginning of the semester but don't let that fool you, this man knows his math.
He is the greatest professor i never have before. I can easily understand what he is taking about.
He really wants people to learn in his class. He doesn't "assign" homework, but he recommends problems that'll help you understand the subject. He explainsthings clearly, but has really hard tests to make sure it's not too easy. Overall, it's a hard cass, but you learn a lot and you learn it well.
Professor Canepa is Great! I loved the way he teaches and if you pay attention in the class and do all the assigned problems in the book there's no way you will do bad in his class. Plus he goes over what you should study for the test. I wish we taught Calc2.
best of luck
It is obvious he is very excited about math, and is an excellent teacher.
Wonderful teacher !!!!!! always available to help !!!!he wants you to succeed. I got an A in his class in the summer. If you do the suggested homework problems you will succeed. He's very funny at times and just a wel-rounded professor. Hopefully I can take him for Calculus. He really makes math fun. By far, the best math teacher I have met a DCCC
Great teacher very help full.. Always helped after class. Great teacher!
Good guy. As long as you take notes, study, and do the homework you should be fine. My only comment is I wished he gave a study guide for every test instead of just the final, it helped me a lot with structure. He's also a very fair grader and gives a lot of partial credit. Recommended.
BEST PROFESSOR EVERRRR!!!! I would have given him a 10 out of 5 if I could have. HE is just AWESOME! the most helpful teacher I have ever had. If one cant earn an A in his class, probably this person would have to be one of the laziest people ever. Do the work, you will be fine :)
BEST TEACHER EVER! I'm taking his accelerated online course right now. i don't even know him but he has the most informative power point slides on how to do everything! he makes the class easy but really breaking everything down for you I would recommend him to anyone! he also very nice via e-mail and reminds you when to take your tests and quizzes
He is very kind and helpful. Vey friendly and likes to joke around with his students. He made it fun. He taught in a way that was good for everyone and everyone was able to understand.
Professor Canepa is great! He is very helpful. He was able to walk me through material that I wasn't comfortable with at first, but ended up passing without any problems. Take his class!
He was an awesome math teacher. After lecture he would even let you leave if you preferred to do the work at home (and the worksheets were short and easy!). He is also very helpful. I didn't even need a textbook for the summer course! Class was a breeze~
Prof Canepa is the best math teacher! I had to drop my summer course because the teacher was so awful, spend endless hrs w tutors, and still knew nothing. Prof Canepa, is the complete opposite- he is very clear on making sure you understand what is being taught. I am getting A's in his class, and only use the book for homework problems! The best!
He answered all questions clearly, and responded promptly to all emails. He was very helpful in office hours. Before each test, he did a review of the material. The only people who had trouble with the course were those who did not do their homework, which was practice problems. If you do your homework, you will learn, and you will get an A.
LOOK up AWESOME in the dictionary and you will find Prof. Paul Canepa..Took calc 1 and calc 2 over summer with him..Had an A in each..Just do your homework and you will understand the material.
Best professor I've ever had! He explains the math well and is very helpful. Homework is optional, though I recommend it because it'll help you on tests, and he lets you make up tests. He is REALLY funny and very laid back, which made the class fun. Seriously he is AWESOME! You won't find a better math teacher. Too bad he doesn't teach physics.
Amazing is the best word to describe Paul. He is clear with everything, and helps with every little detail along the way but makes it simple and easy to absorb for everyone. Just do the work and you will get an A.
The best math teacher I've ever had. Seriously, this guy knows what he is talking about and he knows how to connect to his students. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
awesome teacher!
Professor Canepa cares about his students and is always willing to work with them to help them understand the material better. Highly recommend.
he is a great teacher, clear and funny.
Prof Canepa was a very helpful teacher. If you pay attention to what is on the quizzes its almost identical to his tests. Very understanding...I took MAT 120 online. the only thing I didn't like was that I had to go to campus to take all of his tests. He will drop your lowest test grade which boosts your grade up!
BEST TEACHER EVER. you SHOULD take him for all your math classes..his reviews are similar to the exams. gives extra credit. He makes the class so fun and you will love math if you don't like it. I took trig/college alg & pre calc with him and I wish if I didn't move from the state so I could finish all my math classes with him. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I actually had him at the University of Delaware. He came in halfway through the semester to cover for a professor who hadnt been there for several weeks. He caught us up and covered all topics making them easy to understand. He was just a really nice guy, very clear relatable and the best math professor i've ever had here.
I took Precal, Cal I and Cal II with him, Cal II in summer....all As. He made me love math and I am the same student who wanted to withdraw from Precal after I opened my both during the 1st class. He is just that GOOD! (maybe the right adjective is BEST---EEEEST!!!!!)
Very good professor! Very clear and funny at times. Only use the text book for suggested homework.
Had him at UD for calc B. Awesome teacher. He lectures so well in class and gives the perfect amount of homework so you don't really have to study but are not overwhelmed by it. Doesn't use textbook at all - if you run into a really hard problem on the homework just wolfram alpha it because it probably won't be something that tricky on the exam.
Mr. Canepa helped me out so much in this class, I would strongly recommend going to his office hours and getting to know him, it'll pay off big time if you need help later in the semester. Explains in detail and works from the bottom up in every example problem. Always asks if there are questions, and cracks funny awkward jokes every now and then.
Works at the University of Delaware part time. Great guy and likes to crack jokes in class. Tells you what you need to know (No Theory!). Definitely try to get this professor if you can.
Although MATH242 was the hardest class I've taken yet, anytime I needed help Canepa was available. He knows exactly what hes talking about and wants you to understand whats going on. If you make the effort you can very easily get a good grade for the course.
He's a very sweet person who is good at what he teaches. Very easy to follow and helped make a hard class manageable. Can be kind of awkward at times but nothing to an extreme. I wish he taught more classes at the University of Delaware because I would definitely take him again.
He's amazing and basically the cutest person in America! Take him.
AMAZING professor. Love this guy! So funny and adorable and clearly cares about teaching. Definitely take him if you can!
He was an overall good guy and was funny too. His teaching skills werent amazing but they were decent enough. The only time I had a problem with him was when he was teaching 10 sections to be on the final, before we took the midterm. So it was impossible to learn the new stuff and study for the midterm. I studied and was behind 10 sections
The best math professor I've had at UD! He's passionate and clearly cares about his students. He's always willing to help and is very accessible. Gives clear, helpful answers to all questions from students. Makes difficult concepts seem simpler. Exams and quizzes can be tough, but aren't usually that bad if you do some of the practice problems
Despite the fact that I failed the class miserably, I still enjoyed his lectures and teaching style. He's very concise, he can simplify concepts for people that a still confused, and he's got a good sense of humor about everything. He is a challenging professor, but do your work and study and I can guarantee you'll pass. I regret not studying.
Fantastic teacher. Very laid back, and it was the first time in a long time I didn't dread going to a math class every class. Teaches in a concise fashion that gets the point across, and isn't afraid to help clear any questions in a students mind. Highly recommend practicing problems. He makes sure there aren't surprises on tests if you practice.
Professor Canepa is by far the best math teacher I've had at this school. On the first day of calc 1 I was so worried when he announced that his tests were purely open ended, but I didnt realize how great he is at helping his students actually learn the material rather then just memorize it. Always there to help, witty, and definitely recommended.
Professor Canepa's teaching style is both easy to understand and straight to the point. He's also a pretty funny guy.
Cool guy
You will regret it if you don't take him. One of the best and most understanding professors I have had.
He is one of the best math professors i have had in my life. He is really helpful, funny and nice. The course material isnt hard as long as you do the homework and attend lectures.
A great professor overall. Lectures are very straightforward and cover every aspect of the material. Is more than willing to answer questions, and is always available during his office hours. between showing up to class and doing homework on your own, you should develop a thorough understanding of calculus. Cool guy as well.
Great professor. Very clear with lectures. Has a humor to personality. Helpful if you ask. I've heard Calc 2 is the hardest, but he made it relatively easy as long as you put work in. Clear with expectations, exams are not too bad, just practice and do all homeworks to your benefit.
From what I've heard about his regular classes he's a very good teacher, that being said his online class for math 152 was very poorly set up and is graded poorly. I also took 151 with defaults online course which was done very well. If he had mirrored his online course more similarly then the class would have been much more successful.
Prof. Canepa is absolutely the best professor I've ever had. He breaks down such difficult material to basic concepts. He makes his expectations clear and is always willing to help.
Took this professor for MAT060 and 120 back in 2012. AWESOME teacher! Really cares and will help you every step of the way. He is very patient if you need extra assistance. Just communicate with him and you'll pass no matter how terrible you are at math!
Prof. Canepa is really funny and easygoing. He makes difficult concepts very easy to understand, and is certainly one of the greatest math professors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from.
Mr. Canepa's teaching style is lucid, clear & reflective. He is enthusiastic about math and his student's development. His classes are participatory, interactive & interesting! He gives class notes which help in clarifying concepts. He explains with elucidative examples & encourages student's input. I'm glad I did MAT course under his guidance.
This course us easy, but you have to study and to work by yourself, he is a great prof, i took winter class, he is so funny. he will do a lot of example with you and if you miss any thing you can get things online, and also just ask him. he will answer your question clearly.
Awesome professor overall. Very funny, and is willing to help you outside of class. Goes over everything thoroughly and gives plenty of examples. Exams were easy and the homework is not overbearing. Gives plenty of practice problems too. If you have the chance to take this professor, do it.
The best professor I've ever had.
The Test is totally different with what he talk about in class
I'm taking his online course and so far he's been great. our syllabus had clear instructions and only 1 final due date for everything. he also provided a suggested deadline for each chapter so it will help our pace... he responds back to emails quick for the most part and seems like a very nice, cool, chill & helpful Prof. definitely recommend.
The funniest professor I've ever had! He always cracks the whole class up while giving great explanations and examples. Mr. Canepa is THE BEST.
Well organized, Pokémon Loving, very knowledgeable, awesome professor. This was my second time taking Calculus and came into his class with great fear and doubt. His material and teaching method was very clear and to the point. Calculus II is no joke and very difficult. If you go w/his guidelines and complete all the homework, you will do well.
Had him at UD. He is one of the best professors in the department. His lecture style is clear and backs up theory with examples. Exam questions are pulled from lecture notes and HW. Overall very fair. He doesn't give a lot of partial credit. Extremely nice guy. If you want help, he's there for you. Take Canepa if you have the option.
This guy is great. Easily one of my favorite professors at UD. If you can take him DO IT!
I took Professor Canepa online for MAT120 and that is one of the best decisions I made. I have failed multiple math courses in past and his notes actually helped me out and he is a very understanding person. I recommend him to take him online or in person any chance you get. His math courses are worth it!
He's one of the best professors I've ever had. He has a great interaction with students and great respect for them and their grades. His office hours are very useful, and he genuinely wants to help you succeed. Differential equations was much more fun with him, and easier to grasp.
He is the best
Very organized class. Can work at your own pace, assignments are not due at a certain time so you can technically finish the class super early (or procrastinate!) Everything in the class was through pearson vues math lab website, so you don't need a hard copy of the book. Quick to respond to emails.
Clear grading criteria, syllabus is easy to follow, "suggested schedule" is very helpful (helps with pacing of completing assignments, quizzes, tests), responds to emails in a timely manner.
I'm enrolled in the online class. He seems like an OKAY guy, but he's lazy. No office hours, no lectures just pdf documents that he has made. You wont pass unless you pay for mymathlab and that's pretty much it. Seems like he's only in it for easy money and isn't looking out for his students. I've taken many online classes with no issue.
Professor Canepa did not give extra credit at all. Never wanted to help if you did not understand, wanted you to go to a tutor or go all the way to marple to his office for him but never had good office hours. He did not want to help, was lazy when it came to his online classes. I wouldnt recommend him because he wasnt very helpful at all.
Incredibly stressful. I took an online class with him and 70% of your whole grade is from the midterm and final. It puts a lot of pressure on the student. He doesn't really seem to care about his students and expects them to just get by just fine.
Im not sure how he is in a classroom setting but he was an impossible online prof. This class was so hard even my parents were struggling to understand his confusing PDFs. He makes you teach yourself. And after emailing needing help, he just said Find a tutor. I think he enjoys failing people. Makes the tests 80% of your grade.. AVOID HIM!!!
He doesnt give extra credit. Grades hard. If you want to become stressed out with a ton of pressure on you, definitely take his class. Youre sure to feel alone in everything you do.
Dont take course online. He does not care for any students online. Said find a tutor when I went to find him on campus. Good luck to any future enrollees!
This guy is something else. His grading is incredibly stressful. 75% of your whole grade is just the midterm and final. Don't even bother reaching out to him, he's lazy and doesn't seem to care. AVOID HIM!!! Online and in classrooms. I ended up with a B, but that was because of teaching myself and feeling alone and being depressed all semester.
He is NOT a good teacher!! Prepared to teach yourself if you take him. I did the online class and he doesn't responses to email or at least do videos to show us how to work through the problems. I emailed him a few times and never got a response. However I did like that we could retake quizzes twice, and he gives you time to completed your work.
I cannot believe some of the negative reviews. I took him twice and he really cares
I took this course over the winter and it was 100% asynchronous. Mr. Canepa did not have any due dates so everything was due on the last day of the semester. He used a website (that you HAVE to pay for and it was expensive) so all your information, grading, and assignments/quizzes were on there. He had good communication and emailed us weekly.
I took Professor Canepa for an online asynchronous course, and it was a great experience, He is very responsive, provides plenty of materials to get you through and is willing to help you 1 on 1. It was an excellent experience, and I would recommend this approach over the classroom.
Great online class, some teachers over complicate the online learning experience, Mr Canepa does not which is a breath of fresh air. Tests make up nearly 70% of your overall grade but the online format through pearson sets you up for success. Wish he taught the next level stat class.
Took Prof. Canepa my sping semester & his class was perfect. My class was on Wednesday nights. He doesn't grade/take attendance, so I only went for the first class. Everything is online, including lectures, homework, tests, & quizzes. You get multiple attempts on everything (except tests). Everything is open note. Responsive to emails.
Had an accelerated 152 course and it was purely myMathLabs.
Great professor, I enjoyed his intro to statistics class because it was easy to learn ,I took it asynchronous and the videos he recorded were great. … I wish he would teach Statistics 210!
Prof. Canepa's MAT121 class is a mixed bag. The online format with no mandatory attendance is convenient, but the heavy emphasis on tests and lack of support can make it a struggle. Unstuck Study AI and the free textbook resources helped me stay on track.
