Best math teacher i ever had!!!!

Took him for the 2nd half of Calc II. Good presentations in class. Difficult testing and assigned alot of homework. But made you learn and explained what was going on. Would take classes from him again.

An excellent teacher, he takes his time to help the students learn, but the only way to get the grade is to do the homework.

Mr. Capps is a good teacher. He's pretty easygoing. His notes are a little hard to follow and the weekly quizes kinda suck but it's not a hard class and he's willing to work with you.

Very good instructor - very thorough and really knows the material; enough to understand where students usually go wrong, and he helps to correct. Reviews are very helpful. Do your hw and test reviews, and you will pass easily.

This guy is very sweet, patient and understanding. He's one of the best math teachers I have had in a long time. I highly recommend him. Tests are not hard either.

By far one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Capps is very good at explaining math, it was a breeze. The only people that had trouble in his class were the ones that missed class often.

The course is challeging. Capps explenations are exellent, he goes above and beyond to help the students...he is what you might call a "real" teacher. I highly recomend him...especially if you are having problems with math.

I have taken 3 classes with Mr. Capps up to Trig, GREAT teacher! I would recommend him to anyone. Understands the material and more important, explains it so the students can understand the material.

Easy going instructor. He goes fast but will stop and answer question until you understand it. I will be taking another class one of his classes.

the Test reviews go over every type of problem that will be on the test. Grading system is great-throws out worst test and replaces with best test. Also individual mistakes are graded as opposed to whole problem---so if you get a wrong answer but had the process mostly correct you may still get points.

Capps is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He presents the course material in a way that's easy to understand and his tests are very fair.

He is fair and passionate about math. I hate math but with his passion for his subject matter, he is patient and willing to help others learn. I have taken his classes before and would highly recommend him for anyone willing to do the work, if you're trying to skate, look for someone else!

Prof. Capps is great. A very down to earth and helpful guy. The instruction is very straight forward and he uses good examples. Homework is not graded. He answers any and all questions. He is available through email. Gives complete test reviews. Assigns a simple Stat. project that he goes through step by step. Great teacher to take statistics with.

Mr. Capps was a great teacher. He offers insight into solving math problems that made learning clear and concise. He teaches using even numbered homework examples, but is good at giving us a broad understanding of different possible challenges of algebra. Would take him again!

He is a fantastic teacher. He works on a point system. 11 labs and he drops 2 and keeps the best 9. 5 tests and 1 final exam. Exam is multiple choice with 2 free response questions. As long as you do his review questions you will be good to go. His review questions are very very important to do. He also has a good sense of humor.

Very nice. Do the review questions and you're okay. Labs are challenging, but he's very open to help you. Would definitely take again, if I ever had the opportunity.

great math instructor

I have a very hard time w/ math and really have to work at it. I took a very heavy class load w/8wk math class with capps. I went to call every day and did the problems he said payed ATTENTION in class and passed. If you are having problems he will help you understand just speak up!!! I am doing my best to take him for all my classes he is the best

Great teacher. Do the homework and labs and you'll do fine.Come to class and you'll do fine. He gives plenty of points out for inclass assignments so they are plenty of chances to up your grade.Highly recommended for any math class!

I took this class online and got an A. It was easy. Theres examples to each questions so it was helpful. He gives quizzes and test to give chapter and its time limit.

Took this over summer 2008, and he made this rather difficult subject seem pretty easy by being helpful and always giving lots of explanations and examples

Made calc III one of my favorite courses of all time. Deserves more credit than he is given.

I thought Mr. Capps was a very helpful teacher. I took the 7-week course and received a C. The only reason I think I earned a C was because I could have studied harder and not fell asleep in class. In his class he was more than fair. Homework was not mandatory, it was for the students benefit and he always went back to answer problems.

Hey if you are like me you love this site and if this is your first time good luck. This teacher is great my whole row got A's above 95% and I got a 98%. The students that have trouble with math mostly passed as well. He gives it to you straight and help you a lot. Take him for all math classes. I am taking him again.

Great teacher, but do not take this class as a speedy class. i struggled because it was to much info in a short time.

Awesome teacher, he is very helpful. He will not move on until everyone understands. Uses in class problems as points, so attendance adds points. He doesn't make you feel stupid for asking a question.

horrible at math. he made college algebra easy and passable for me. would have never passed college algebra if it wasn't for mr. capps.

Capps is cool, he explains everything pretty good, if your going into college algebra its the same junk as pre-calc in high school, so if you took that you'll ace the class no prolem, plus he's a good teacher

Mr. Capps is a good teacher, his class is fairly easy. The only advice I would give him is maybe to explain the "whys" He tells you what to do but not why you are doing it.

My favorite Math instructor ever! He will sit with you and basically tutor you as much as possible. Always happy to answer questions. Kinda corny but fun.. grades fairly. Go to class, do your homework and use the help he offers and its easy!

He is the only teacher that has my learning style...even though the class was hard, I finally passed it.

Gives in class points, no homewotk required but encouraged. tests are very difficult. offers tutoring in office. goes through material fast because of the course schedule. offers no review time though not his fault. corny and very sarcastic and sometimes embarrassing if you are asking a question. do not reccimend if you have trouble in math!

This guy knows his math! He has a good teaching style and is always willing to answer questions. Tests are not hard so long as you at least attempted the homework. Homework is optional but is helpful. He will tutor you and help you a lot if you see him during his office hours or in the computer lab. Overall great teacher and one of my favorites!

this is a fast paced hard course but he tries to help you as much as he can. he expects you to know your stuff and do the homework (not unreasonable).

Loved this class! Do your homework!! Make sure you ask questions if you dont understand it, he uses his own lingo, fun! Always on time, attendance is mandatory! Gives quizzes for points, Have a scientific calculator, not one of the graphing kind, will get upset. Make sure to be on time to class, if not you will miss info.

took both MAC 1105 & STA 2023. He actually teaches how to do the work instead of reading from the book. He makes it real to the student so that you understand what he is saying.

BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! He will make sure you understand the material, Ive had him for every math class and he is a the only teacher ive ever learned from. You have to pay attention and do the work, but you actually learn alot. I would recommend him to everyone!

Mr. Capps is super nice and is very clear when he is teaching. It is obvious that he knows his stuff. He answers all questions and is never rude. I hate math in general but he made this class a good experience for me!

Mr. Capps is a great teacher! Homework is optional, but necessary to really absorb the lessons. He physically goes over every lesson, not just play the videos. He is quick to answer all your questions, whether in person or via email. Attendance is graded, but not a minute is wasted in his class. He is tied with Mr. Vollaro for best teacher at DS!

Mr. Capps is an amazing instructor and I'm looking forward to having him again for MAC1105. He makes great use of class time, he is very well spoken and easy to understand, and he responds to emails quickly! Being a developmental class, homework is required! It's a significant part of your grade so show up and do your work!

Take Capps for as many of your math courses as you can. He makes everything so easy to understand. Really knows when to be a little funny or even cheesy so his students remember what they need to. If you struggle in math you need Capps! He will help you!

Before this class I took intermediate algebra, and barely passed without any knowledge. His class gave me a clear view of everything I learned in the past and more. Excellent instructor, I would recommend him. He's helpful and his lectures are very helpful he will even post them for you if needed. The only thing is you MUST participate and study.

Professor Capps is an amazing math teacher. He is incredibly smart and knows what hes talking about, without making it complicated. He shows the class simple "tricks" to make the class a breeze and easy to learn. There is a good amount of homework, but you basically just have to show up, listen, and do the homework to pass.

I took this class as a hybrid, so class was a bit difficult. Other than that, the semester went by easily. You MUST do the homework and study to pass the course. Professor Capps explains things pretty well and there are also in-class problems for a grade everyday (they're easy) so attendance is a must.

Favorite professor by far

We used Aleks, spent all class periods in the computer lab. It was an 8am Friday class, totally worth it. Explains things very well. I am terrible at math and this class was a breeze.

Took instructor Capps online for Trig. He made all resources available to you. The class isn't necessarily easy, but he is available to help when needed. He isn't very lenient on late work, but does allow one extension for the entire course. He also replaces your lowest test grade with your final test grade which can really help.

Capps is one of the BEST professors I have ever had. He made learning math so much fun for me and all of my peers. He gives many opportunities for extra credit and we only had 3 tests throughout the semester. All homework and quizzes are online.

If you're concerned about having a math professor that is considerate, I recommend Capps. He is incredibly attentive, and understanding to help you get through the course if math isn't your strong suit. His lectures can be advanced, but he is more than willing to work with you individually.

Professor Capps is an excellent professor. Math is a tough subject and I believe that some people give him tough time because of that. When doing math you must expect to work hard and remember that the professor is not the one who created the math. I have never seen him deny any student help, and he is rather lenient.

Capps is a great teacher and will spend time with you one on one if you need it. If you don't ask for help and your struggling, who's fault is it. Grow up and put your big boy britches on. Capps took a dumb algebra kid like me and turned me into a statistical genius!

Professor Capps was very kind and his course plan was clearly laid out. While I failed/was withdrawn from the class, I do not blame him for that. I was woefully unprepared and am terrible at math. Nevertheless, when I retake this class for my AA, I would not hesitate to select Professor Capps again. Really nice, helpful, and communicative.

Mr. Capps is one of the best math instructors I've ever had. Even on the first day of class, he demonstrated algebra concepts no other instructor has ever bothered to explain. He's helped me CONCEPTUALLY UNDERSTAND things better than anyone else. He cares about his students and will meet with you outside office hours if needed. Worth the 8am class.

Professor Capps was great. His office hours made him very available if I ever needed help, which was a lot. The homework is not required, but I recommend doing all of them. The first test I did not do the homework, that was the only test I got a B on. The teaching is a bit fast paced, but by utilizing my resources I was able to succeed.

Professor Capps is my favorite professor in my 3+ years of college-level education. He is incredibly intelligent and funny, but best of all: he knows how to TEACH math. While he certainly will not let you get by without doing any work, Capps cares about his students and does his best to help them succeed in his classes. Office hours are helpful too

Capp's lectures combined with all his incredible supplementary online materials made this class much easier than it would have been otherwise. He has short videos posted for nearly every topic covered in class, and these videos are fantastic bite-sized practice problems to solidify understanding of the topics covered.

This professor was easy to reach out to being that I took his course online. Complex homework projects and online Aleks course literally made me cry. I reached out when I needed help, he offered zoom and recommended DSC touring which was great and helped me so much! If you read the syllabus, ask questions, and turn-in work on time YOU WILL DO GREAT
