he must have gotten confused with the course listed because he taught a 5000 level course this semester. and have very poor computer skills
As a previous reviewer said, he made this 1000 level class a 3000+ level. He's a great guy, and is very knowledgable, but I would recommend something else for Gen-Ed science.
too much work for an intro, exams ?s were often garbled and unintelligible, too much heavily detailed text, awful cd, try other classes for gen ed, GO to the exam reviews if you take it!!
no, just no.
well, i really liked this class. I agree it's harder than a 1000 level class usually is, but i thought the topic was interesting. taking this class with him convinced me to get a geology minor - i'll be taking two more classes with him before i'm done.
dont pay for his vacations, its basically what you are doing if you take this course. Class is very easy but his "CD" was programed by a 10 year old and WAY overpriced for a CD full of pics. Took it online and went to the class only once. Got an
Not as hard as some reviewers have said but not as easy as other classes. Almost failed the class several times because of computer difficulties. CD is WAY overpriced and a complete hassle. Attendance not required or suggested.
i think dr.C is an awesome teacher and this historical geology class was really interesting. He's laid back and helpful once you get into the upper-level...his love for the subject will keep your attention. pretty decent amount of studying involved.
But I managed to pull down an A (and that's considering that I stopped actually going to class half way through the semester). My suggestion: print the text material from the CD and have it with you when you take the tests.
easy class.dont have 2 go to it.the tests come exactly from the text ,just print the notes and youll always get an A and do the practice tests.he gives easy extra credit.hes a great professor and a great person.
he rambles on and on and on and on and on about his pictures and where he's been
i got a 77 on the first test, an 83 on the second, and still managed to get an a in the class, so it's pretty easy to pull up. he's funny in a very science-professor kind of way, and as long as you study and print out good notes, you should do well.
interesting class. easy to cheat on tests. never have to go to class to still get an A.
Boring as hell. He can really put you to sleep. Speaks like Al Gore and talks about rocks all the time. But he has a few funny stories and he knows his stuff.
What can I say. The man teaches us about dinosaurs when in fact he is a dinosaur himself. His lectures are very boring. In fact, it puts you to sleep. On the other hand, he is a nice guy and his tests are easy.
Ummm tests sucked but if you need whatever Gen Ed this class fills then take it. All of it is on a CD and you never have to go to class. He offers reviews and those are kind of helpful. He is very nice, but keep in mind the name of the class.
Don't even go to class. Print up the notes and take the tests with other people!
Most boring class ever! Don't go to class at all! Professor speaks in monotone and puts you to sleep! Easy but dreadful class to take!
Never once went to the class and got A's on all the tests. Really easy if you just print out the notes and take the practice quizzes. Definitely worth it if you need an easy gen ed.
Nice guy but boring class. You don't have to go to class because the test questions come exactly from the text. Easy A.
I hated this class...don't take it
He made this class way more boring and difficult than he needed to. I took the internet version, and it was not the easiest class I have ever taken. I would not reccommend it to anyone.
For a 1000 level class, it's way too in-depth. Too much reading. The prof is extremely boring. The only way to do well is to cheat.
Yeah... don't take this class unless you know 5 other people in it and can all cheat together. NOT an easy A, lucky to get a B. Required CD's are like $150 plus he makes you pay for the extra credit book HE wrote. Bad idea, avoid it.
This class is really not bad if you can take the tests with someone and print the notes and hi-light them and know where all the info is so that you can look up the info fast on the test. don't go to class, just print the notes before the test and it's an easy A.. especially if you take the tests with someone. if you cant get an a its your fault.
Like the other people said..don't go to class! Just print the notes and work with others. Tests are not bad, I got an A. But it does require some work.
He is the nicest person. You can tell if you go to class that he really loves and enjoys what he is talking about. But, i wouldn't take it unless you have a lot of money. I spent $200 on books for his class. I went to every lecture (5 days a week, in the summer) and got a B NOT an easy class. Requires a lot of reading
easiest A ive had so far
Soooooooo boring! He speaks in monotone, so I stopped going to lecture. He's also really weird about helping you out. You basically hafta force the help out of him... Overall, weird dude....
THe class is a joke. Take it with your best friend, don't go to lecture, print out the notes, and write your answers to the practice questions in the little book they give so you already have 25% of every test done. Believe me, any other class is stupid to take for the Science credit. I didn't spend more than an hour a week to get an A.
Many people have said "don't take this class." I dont know what they are thinking. I had this class in the summer...A! Just print the notes and use them on the test...he said that was fine. Dont really go to class...just know when the tests are cause if you miss them..too bad, but just make sure you know when the tests are...easy A...
This guy could kill you by boring you to death if he had the class 3 times a week. Luckily you don't have to go to class easy A. But super boring and lame.
Print the notes out to your hard drive off the CD (not too hard to figure out), and you can just search them while you take the test. The guy sounds like Al Gore, though, so don't expect to be going to class. Just think of it as a series of exams that show up once a month.
this class really sucks unless you can cheat with your friends. dont take this class unless you know at least another person taking it and never go to the lectures--theyre totally useless
print out the material, highlight the practice questions, take the tests in groups.... its an easy A... never go to class.... i got a 100 on the final... and a 97 in the class... and prob only did a total of like 5 hours of work for the entire class over the semester.... its not interesting tho... but its EAAASSSSSYYY
Easy A if you remember to go to all of the tests. Be wary on the practice questions though, you have to do ALL of them to get credit for it, even htough the software gives you a grade and says "Score Recorded." Terrible software and a worse teacher, but just print the notes and get the A.
I hated this class. He makes all the software and books for it and it's all expensive and you can't sell it back. I did really badly one one test and then did the extra credit and missed an A by one point. He doesn't accept emails, you have to email the TA and the TA isn't very helpful.
Here's how to do the Age of Dinosaurs class if you don't want to print out hundreds of pages of notes... use a print-to-text driver (ask a geek friend for help) to put all the notes in a Word document and search that on a separate laptop. Easy A. The software is HORRIBLE though. I'd avoid the class if possible.
BORING! Never went to class-- you have to know a lot of people in the class to get an A. Take the test in groups and you will do fine.
Horrible person. Rambles on and on in class, nothing to do with the subject. His texts (and extra credit text) are all by him - he just wants money. The text is CDROM, full of typos and missing links, super expensive and no buyback. He's rude, unhelpful, and uncompromising, even for immediate family emergencies (like serious hospitalizations).
He was not very clear on how practice exams were graded.
HE HAS NO MERCY FOR YOU. HIS PRACTICE EXAM GRADING IS VERY UNCLEAR. I got a 95 on every test and did all the extra credit, and received a B because none of my practice exams got submitted!
He's pretty boring, but you don't really need to attend the lectures anyway. This class takes more work than you might think.
If you tried to take these tests without notes, I can't see anyone making an A. They are pretty tricky. If your an honest person, take another course.
This is a tricky class cuz you forget it exists since it's all in a CD. I forgot a test and now even if I get all A's I still get a C. The guy is ... not a nice person. Hard to contact. Easy class if you can find the printed version and highlight but you will have to do work. Expensive software.
Took a subject I was really interested in and made me hate it!! Format is horrible and confusing (not to mention expensive). I feel like I wasted my time and money with this class!. I would have much rather have had to go to class and have it explained to me. The worst class I've taken at UF. (and I've had some bad ones!!!
EASIEST CLASS AT UF. you have to try really hard to get lower than an A lol
Not the easiest A at UF, but definitely one of the easiest. The work I did consisted of answering all of the review questions the day of the online tests, and then taking the test with my roommate and getting decent enough grades on them. The confusing software costs $90 though. Don't go to the weekly lectures. Minimal work=A, or definitely a B.
Class wasnt hard, but awfully boring. I wouldnt suggest it. Didnt like the software either and it was expensive.

Extremely tedious and boring, but easy if you know what to do. The lectures are useless and the course material is frought with spelling errors. The test questions are horrendously specific because he knows everyone "cheats". Simpy print the material to a PDF and search it on the exams for an easy A -you deserve it for putting up with the software!
Simple and don't go to the weekly classes.
He is the rudest man EVER! He hates students and he knows everyone cheats so he makes the test questions as difficult as possible. Not an easy A but it is possible. Make sure you keep up with the test dates b/c he will change them and not notify you accordingly. The software is not user-friendly and it is expensive with no sell-back.
This guy should be commended for taking an interesting subject--dinosaurs--and turning it into a boring symposium on rocks. This class should be titled "Age of Rocks", not "Age of Dinosaurs."
very big classes
Admittedly a somewhat boring class. But I think that he deserves credit for how much he knows about the subject. If you need gened science credits, this class isn't a bad one to take.
i dont know why so many ppl bash this corse. i just started at UF and this is my first class and i think its very easy. i dont go to class i just read the material in my dorm.
I was really interested in learning about dinosaurs, but this class was very disappointing. The lectures are extremely boring and the tests aren't a breeze. You definately need to keep up with the Topics if you don't go to lectures and be prepared to take a class on the classification (phylum, genus, etc.) of ancient animals.
he seems like a nice enough guy. the class wasn't bad at all. make sure you keep up with the assessments and you don't even need to go to class unless you want to. he is easy to approach if you have any questions and really knows his stuff
he loves his dinosaurs.... and if you're not interested in dinoaurs then the class is pretty boring. going to class isnt necessary and he doesnt enforce it, but the tests are difficult if you didnt take notes on the chapter. he can be boring but he knows what hes doing and hes overall a good guy
He does not care about this class at all. The CD is expensive, confusing, poorly made and cannot be bought used b/c he makes a new one each semester. It's aland confusing. Tests can be taken from home so he clearly does not care about cheating. Group test taking is common (if you want an A). If you want an easy physical science, try GLY1000.
I was so excited about dinosaurs, but the class was disappointing. The work isn't hard; he said the first day of class that the tests are open-notes (if you went to class, at least the first day, you'd know that going in). The tests are really not that bad- plus you know 1/4 of the questions from the practices. It's boring and expensive but easy.
This instructor blows big brontosaurus dick. I agree with a previous poster who said that the cd textbook is poorly designed and difficult to use. The chapters are written so badly that it's hard most of the time to figure what he's talking about. The course requirements include six exams and forty chapter quizzes. You like tests?
Horribly boring class along with a horribly boring instructor. Tests were hard and long. Hated this class. Don't waste your time or money. You'd be better off taking WIS2040.
Surprisingly, the tests end up being incredibly hard if you actually read the material and are doing it the legit way. What many do is take it in groups and use a file that has the notes that way you can search from Word. If you utilize the latter method, the class is an easy A. If you don't care to cheat or have no means of doing so; don't bother
an A if you take the test in groups, although sometimes the CD textbook is missing the answers and once a picture question showed a picture that was not in the software, basically the software sucks. The class is mostly about rocks, if you are expecting jurassic park this will fall wayyyy short. expensive software but an A is almost guaranteed...
DON'T think this class is like Wildlife Issues. His tests are nearly impossible (even if you study a lot) and he doesn't issue curves. Others have taken this class and done the tests in groups and they've done well; apparently, that's the way to go. Guy is smart and nice, but please take an easier science class if possible.
Great guy, very smart and well-versed... but the class in unclear and the tests are impossible. There are a lot of shortcuts and cheating methods that if you don't utilize them, the class would be absolute hell. There is some interesting information, but it's all way too much to retain without taking group tests and shortcuts. Good luck.
Class is easy because you don't have to go to it ever...or do any work for that matter until the day of the test. You can get by with a friend or two and look up all the information during the tests on different comptuers....but you might run out of time, or simply not find the answers. I spent a total of 5-6 days of work total and got an A.
The class is easy, and you don't have to go, but you have to spend $100 on the cd that you can't sell back, and good luck if it doesn't work right, because the TA's for this class are totally useless. The software is buggy and the tests insanely hard, but you just use notes. Easy-peasy.
DO NOT TAKE FOR AN EASY A. That being said, the class is still pretty easy, but sadly yes...I suspect that group testing is the only way to do well. We did it and still only got 80's on the tests. However I didn't attend lecture so perhaps he gives out questions and answers. Could be a cool class if you wanted to give it time.
I really believe this class would be close to impossible without some kind of "help." If you find such help, it can be an A that I would classify as easy but stressful. I would do the extra credit, because it's easy and made the difference for me between a B and an A. Take this class with a friend for sure.
DO not take this as a phys science credit. IMPOSSIBLE if you dont have friends who've taken it before you and know how to cheat. FAR too much information for the tests- do NOT take this class.
Worst mistake of my life. Do not take Age of Dinosaurs, it's basically impossible unless you type everything, and even then A's on the tests are nearly impossible. Just don't take it.
This class is extremly easy if you have friends and want to cheat. If you don't it is most likely the hardest class you will ever take. If you heard the class was easy it is because the person who told you had lots of friends and were emailed answers to the tests.
He obviously knows that people take his class as a joke and that it is supposed to be an easy A, so he makes the tests a little bit harder than I expected. As long as you read the material and take notes, you'll be ok for the test though. He's a very pompous and self-absorbed professor.
TOOK THINKING WAS AN EASY A STARTING U.F.. IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS YOU HAVE WORD DOCUMENTS TO HELP AND FRIENDS. READ OVER 70 PAGES OF MATERIAL FOR TEST AND STILL GOT B. RECONSIDER TAKING THIS CLASS . CHEM WOULD BE EASIER
This class is awful! Not fun. Not interesting. The book is a cd-rom and you can't copy and paste or print. To pass you have to retype everything. Class is not mandatory. Don't take. Not an easy A
This was an awful awful class. I went in thinking it was an easy gen ed requirement but the test are impossible even with a friend helping. His lectures are straight from his cd rom which he makes you buy and makes a direct profit off of and you cant even return it. Plus its mostly about rocks not dinosaurs.
This class is pretty bad, but an easy A if you can get the Word documents and take the tests with friends. It really isn't that interesting and the "virtual" textbook is not clear. The class is boring, but stay on top of it - you don't have to go to class.
Easy class. if u get the word document. ask around. it floats around. lol. do the homework. before the final!
Lots of people complain about this class BUT IF YOU JUST WORK, as in read the textbook and work with other people. He discourages taking tests with others, but if you're clever enough you can get around it. He is VERY helpful if you just talk to him respectfully. Some of the audio commentary on the disc is unintentionally hilarious.
AWESOME teacher. There was a mistake with my grade and it was changed within one week. Just be respectful and all will be fine. Class is EASY, just work in groups and don't forget to take the tests on the CORRECT date. NEVER went to class and got a 94. Best Gen Ed. class to take.
Easy class... i took the summer class so tests were in class just read each topic in the book and attend exam review.. i never went to class besides reviews and got an A
the class is not that bad but u need to read. no need to go class just know the practice question, attend the test reviews. his lectures are useless he just goes over pics (which during the summer when i took it weren't on the test) and brags about his trips around the world and how much better he is than everyone else
Ok, a lot of people say this class is hard. THIS CLASS IS NOT HARD. To get an A all you have to do is read the book and take notes. The test questions come straight from the text, so just reading is half the grade. I dont suggest taking tests with friends, as theyre probably dumber than you and will slow you down.
So Easy... just find someone with all the answers to the exams in word documents and make some friends in the class to take the exams with and you are golden. going to class isn't that important as long as you pop in b4 and exam he'll throw out some answers. DO THE TOPIC QUESTIONS B4 THE EXAMS!
PAIN IN THE ASS! It's assumed to be just like Wildlife Issues but the tests are a lot different. Do not take this class unless you have friends taking it with you and you have the documents to get you through the class- its the only way it's easy. Trust me, don't waste your time on going to class either.
His voice is so monotone! I would not recommend this class unless you get your hands on the word documents. The 5 tests are an hour long each and without friends there with documents &google, you will not finish on time.
Can't stand this guy! He's monotone, doesn't explain ANYTHING related to the tests. I got my hands on the age old documents after the second test (I failed the first two tests). Thankfully, I was able to bring my grade up to a B. This guy almost caused me my GPA. Avoid if possible.
This man is useless and VERY unfriendly. Material is absolutely impossible to learn...don't try. Put all files together for tests and control find. Software is ridiculous and expensive. I made an A...but barely...and went an entire semester and know nothing more about dinosaurs than I did when I started. Take another class if you can!!!
i DON'T CARE what anybody says, but this class is HARD!!!unless you know like 5 people and do group tests, you will do a lot of reading and studying. He's not mean. But The class is a waste of time if you're not interested in learning about rocks and how many vertebrates a t-rex has. It's lame, and take my advice and don't waste your time.
i was dumb and didn't submit ALL of my homework. i went to his office hours the semester after, and he changed my grade to include the homework! really nice guy.
Very unfriendly and impossible to get in contact with! He would not return emails and took about 2 weeks to get back to me about a make-up test. His tests are not from the book OR his lectures and are quite hard. Don't even bother with the book! He likes to switch around test dates without notice - just a brief announcement in non-mandatory lecture
had to use a drop on this class because it was so ridiculous. he is very mean and rude and his lectures are pointless because none of the info on the test is from the lectures or book. plus the dicussion class is really a bunch of labs that have nothing to do with the tests. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.
He cannot admit when he is wrong. I went to his office hours once and all he talked about was his personal life. Doesn't care about his students, though he claims he tries to make things easier. It's a 1000-level class and he made it impossible. Avoid him if you can!
he's terrible. dont take age of dinosaurs, you end up studying the test and not learning anything from it at all. i know some gen eds are supposed to be a joke, this manages to be a joke that will hurt your sanity and your gpa. skip it.
Horrible teacher and lecturer... don't go to class. Retake all of the practice quizzes over and over until you have all of the questions memorized. That is the only way you will do well on the in class tests and the four exercises. Seriously... just memorize the questions and answers... he doesn't change them for the tests. DON'T GO TO CLASS.
Age of Dinos: I didn't go to class once, not once, and I got a B. He is slowly making the course more and more difficult by adding questions which weren't on the practice quizzes to the exams. Get the word document and you're guaranteed an B at least. I would recommend!
Ciesielski is a nice guy who has had an interesting career. However, this class was way more difficult than an intro level course should be! The lectures weren't particularly useful. The book is helpful, if you actually plan on reading it. The tests were pretty outrageous. Expecting(hopefully) a B- in the course...one I took for an easy A.
He's very interesting, but his tests were somewhat hard. Too many people didn't read, and that is what made the tests hard. If you attend lectures and read the book, there should be no problem at all for receiving an A.
Loves what he teaches; much harder than most 1000 classes
He loves what he does but the class is extremely boring! He tells a lot of stories about his life on the ocean..not interesting. The class wasn't horribly hard but sometime his test can be a little difficult...he gave a review before every test so that helped a little
Once you are used to his teaching style, Dr.C is excellent!
Very easy online class. The online textbook is old and glitchy but there's just simple readings and a lot of extra credit. Midterm and final are proctored online.
Very easy, 35 points extra credit, most exam questions are from homework. I recommend if you want an easy Physical Science credit. I didn't even read anything just did the practice questions and got an A in the class.
Seems to be more interested in flaunting his intellect/experiences than actually teaching the class. The textbook is helpful but since written by him, also packed with his personal interests related to the class. The text and class is full of facts you will never need to know- for the tests or in life.
Definitely not as fun as I had hoped. Ciesielski really knows his stuff, but his lectures are pretty boring and based heavily from the textbook so you don't have to go to class, but you DO have to read the textbook. Class is very detail orientated, which can be a pain. There is a lot to memorize.
I thought this class would be very interesting and easy, but it definitely wasn't. You don't even get to dinosaurs until a third of the way into the course. You have to memorize the entire textbook in order to get a decent grade. He uses proctorU for midterm and final. Don't take if looking for an easy 1000 level science.
I took this class for easy gen ed credits, but it most definitely was not easy. Exams were worth %70 and memorising the entire textbook was necessary to do well. Not recommended.
class was online with quizzes weekly that you could retake unlimited times after you finished it to help study for the test. we had to use protorU, online test taking exam service. wasn't too bad once i knew how to study for the tests
Boring Boring Boring and pure memorization of the textbook. Exams are on ProctorU so you can't use notes. Wouldn't recommend this as a gen ed
Took this class online for gen. ed. credits. As long as you can keep up with the very clear cut work, it's easy. I crammed everything right a day before each exam, and still did well. Just stay focused.
This class is way too hard for a Gen Ed and for an online class. The 2 exams are proctored online so you can't use any material. You have to memorize everything about dinosaurs in order to do well. I am hoping for a passing grade at this point. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
This class is terrible, the material is so boring and 50% of the class has absolutely nothing to do with dinosaurs. The textbook is useless and glitchy, both exams are proctored so you cant use materials. Its endless memorization and is NOT an easy A
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! 6 exams including midterm and final. No drops. The material is boring and homework is a pain.I was so close to an A but got a B+ instead. Not an easy A class. Only taking if you are willing to put in the work and study a lot. Good luck =]
The class was pretty easy if you study the pactice questions for the exams. Must read the text to get an A but it is not too bad to read. Some of the information is interesting. Hes not the nicest teacher but I never had to talk to him.
This was a very difficult class. For a 1000 level course I did not expect to have to study harder than any of my other 3000 level classes. Memorize the ebook, write down notes, and review all the photos and audio within the text. The tests are not too bad if you put in the effort and REALLY Study! Practice quizzes prep you very well though.
Very difficult class if you know nothing about archaeology. The proctored exams rely solely on memorization and his coursework leaves little room for error. Do not recommend
I didn't really have any interaction with him, but this class was ok. It's pretty boring and the ebook needs to be updated. Not too hard of a class- if you study the practice questions and watch the slides you can get by on the tests.
Absolutely ridiculous for a 1000 level course. eBook is terrible and cost way too much. Plenty of practice exams that give you zero practice for the actual exams. Midterm and final are proctored. Go take history of Jazz.
Take this class with a friend and youve got an easy A. Only 2 exams (midterm and a final) and then there are quite a few assignments, graded on completion (automatic 100%). I did the assignments in like 2 days. There are also 2 papers but theyre pretty easy. Take this class for an easy physical science credit.
horrible course for a 1000 level. stay away from this joke of a class.
Worst online class I've ever taken. It wasn't even the class that was bad, it's the fact that the software used for it was so outdated it crashed almost every time I used it. The exams were easy when taken with a partner. Proctor U for the midterm and final, some how managed to get an A even though I did the math and it makes no sense.
The ebook is outdated, very slow to navigate. There's also no copy n paste function in there for notes, which I found necessary to study for tests. The tests require memorization of every detail, picture, and module. This class is essentially self-study with memorizing the ENTIRE textbook, and half the material isn't even on dinosaurs but rocks.
ALOT of work but interesting.
The textbook situation is less than ideal. an online textbook. You cannot print the pages to read at your leisure. Quizzes are taken online. About 18 of mine disappeared. Prof will only refer you to the publisher website. They DO NOT answer any inquiries about problems. They DO NOT have an online chat person there , had to redo them all.
Labs and tests cover none of the same material. Lab manual is absolutely useless to completing the labs and he answers e-mails about 1/3 of the time.
Pro: Extra credit, didn't need to go to class much Con: Everything else. The tests are insanely hard (though the non finals and midterms are easy to use quizlet for), and you are tested on SO MUCH CONTENT and its so specific and the worst. Do not take this.
Easy A besides the fact that the TA's are the ones who grade group projects. Not really sure what this professor does, he didn't even have answers to questions. The software you have to purchase is $100 and outdated (not to mention frustrating to use). This class is easy but annoying & a pain in the ass. Take it if you have to but don't expect much
I took this online and hated it. There were only a final and a midterm and practice questions in the gradebook. You have to do well on the tests to pass the class. There was way too much information and too detailed questions for a 1000 level course. The entire class is reading online book, there are no lectures. Way too time consuming for 1000 lvl
I took this class online during the summer. The textbook is a software you have to buy so you have to take notes by hand. This class is too hard for a 1000 level class. You cannot use notes on the midterm or final since it is Proctored - ridiculous. However, I failed the midterm and final and still got a B in the class. Quizlet will help with hw.
Nice professor. Will answer any question. However, no matter how hard one studies, the tests, which are proctored, are very difficult. I read, read, studied, reviewed, and I still felt very unprepared for his exams. I did enjoy the material. So unfortunate. Could've been an awesome class for a Geology major.
He rarely responds back to the student and when he does it sounds like he hates the fact you even bothered asking a question
An inadequate professor in every way. Doesn't care about the student actually learning anything. Just here for his paycheck. SAD! The software was a ridiculous waste of time & money. Even the software support person said they can't believe anyone is still using this outdated, glitchy garbage. UF, I expect more from you. Such a disappointment.
Seems to be a very nice man and wants to be helpful,. Doesn't seem to respond to students very fast or at all sometimes. Faulkner Media is far from desirable. People who answer phone give you canned answers without listening. Midterm and final proctored by ProctorU. No other assignments. A great deal of material to memorize for 1000 level class.
The class itself is fairly easy. It consists of open book practice questions, a practice midterm, midterm, practice final and a final. If you take this class online you are pretty much on your own. He was basically absent and not all that helpful. He does not like to be bothered and expresses that in the syllabus and repeatedly in announcements.
The Faulkner software he uses is super outdated and hard to use. It's very obvious that he doesn't like to be bothered, and the customer service for the software is the worst I've ever encountered. Way too much very specific information to memorize for a 1000 level class, which make exams even harder than those in my 4000+ level classes.
By far the worst class (with the WORST professor) I have taken at UF. I took this class because it met the requirements for a credit I needed, but it was such a mistake. The program used for this class is literally impossible to figure out, and Dr. Ciesielski makes it very clear he doesn't want to offer help or be bothered. Don't take this class!!!
Easy A class. the program he uses is a bit difficult at first when you don't know how to use it. once you figure it out you're set. i did all my work ahead of time. chapter quiz weekly (you can google), 2 projects that are small but you google everything, practice midterm and final and actual midterm and final (again found online) Definitely take!
Don't take this class if you want an easy A; you won't get one! The software is so outdated and ridiculous to deal with. The professor is non-existent and makes it clear he does not want to be bothered. Beware! I strongly urge that you take something else!
Do not take GLY1102 at UF. The structure of this course is incredibly confusing. You are required to download an archaic software to your computer, on which all of your assignments are located. None of your grades are recorded on canvas. Information about the course is hard to find seeing as it is spread out in various places. This class is a mess.
