Very clear about explaining, but goes a little fast. Though going through the material a little quicker than desired is to be expected considering the VAST amount that's covered in the course. Do considering this, he is an excellent professor and I'd recommend anyone to take him. If you do poorly in his class, I wouldn't bet it's his fault.

I would like to attend his courses. (My prof is luckly she doesn't have a rating page :-) )I'm so glad I found Paul's online notes.

I'm not a student of his, but someone teaching myself calculus. Paul's online notes are just great, I'm learning a lot. Do not wait til last minute as most homeworks take a couple days to complete because of difficulty. if you can do the homework you can do the tests. tests are still challenging. No book needed. He has excellent notes and old homework on his website that'll save your life the night before homework is due and exams. Very approachable!! Is always willing to listen so stop by his office for help. Although attendance isn't mandatory go to class. You'll fall behind and you might piss him off.

The thing that I am most impressed with is that Dr Dawkins has obviously given a lot of thought to how people learn, and has tailored his teaching to insure that the information is understood. He is a very direct professor, the homework is time consuming but if you can do the homework then you can easily do the test. His online notes and previoius homeworks are extremely helpful. I don't have this professor, nor have I ever taken any of his classes. I came across his online notes and let me tell you, it has been tremendously helpful! I thought my professor was good at explaining material, but for the more complex concepts in Calculus, I found myself still struggling. Thankfully, I found Paul's online notes. Thank you, Paul.

I too do not attend Lamar, yet have been using Paul's notes. His notes are very clear and really make calculus less complicated. If he is able to teach so much with just his notes, I can only imagine how extremely helpful he probably is as a real professor.

I have not had this professor, but like many others found his online notes to be a life saver. I had an incredibly lame Calc1 professor at my university, found Paul's notes and basically taught myself calculus and got an A in the class. Taking Calc2 soon and am looking forward to more of Paul's notes!

Wasn't in his class, but found his notes for Calc. His "Cheat Sheet" on calc was extremely helpful for the AP Exam (got a 5!!!!). In college I'm also using his linear algebra notes, since they are a prerequisite at the University that I am currently attending. They are also super clear and concise.

I have taken Dr. Dawkins for every class that he teaches--Calc I, II, III and Diff EQ. I can definitely vouch for the fact that he is one of the best professors I've known. Dawkins is, hands down, the best pofessor I have ever taken. His class is hard and requires a lot of work, but if you are willing to put in the time then you will definitely benefit.

I had him for cal2, cal3, and diffy q. He's pretty easy: hw is difficult (but you can go to the students tab, home pg, archives tab, select your class and select a year and hw set you can figure it out or just go ask for help), exams are really really easy compared to hw (ask your classmate trust me someone has at least one old exam)

His online notes are great for reviewing concepts and working through examples. I managed to review Calculus III in only a few days thanks to these notes.

I've taken Dr. Dawkins for Cal II, and I have advice for you: TAKE HIM! The guy is an amazing teacher. Yes, his homework maybe a little difficult, but he's wanting you to actually use your brain! His tests are relatively easy compared to the homework. If you are willing to simply study and put forth the effort(imagine that!), an A is attainable!

Took him for CalII/Diff Eq If I hadn't had such an bad CalI teacher I probably would have done better in his class. Do your homework, study together, ask him for extra problems if you're having doubts about whether you understand the material. If you go to class, take notes, and do your assignments, you should easily make it out with a B or better.

Going to class every day is a must, but he makes learning the materials super EASY. His HW is /hard/ but the tests are a easier. If you're having trouble understanding his notes are /wonderful/ online with examples or HW from previous years.

I just took Calculus II with Dr. Dawkins. It was a very positive experience. He taught at a high level, but he kept everything manageable with very good communication of concepts. His class is a lot of work, but it is necessary to properly learn the material. As long as you commit to keeping up with your work, it is an awesome class.

Dawkins is a professor who really cares about his students. His online resources are extremely helpful. However, be forewarned that tests and homework are HARD. Homework is mandatory, so don't be surprised if you end up spending 6+ hrs working it. His tests are similar to the homework, so definitely study that before taking the test.

Dr. Dawkins is a good teacher. I have him for Cal II, and although calculus is very difficult, I probably wouldn't have learned as much in someone else's class. He wants you to learn, and you can tell he gets excited about it. His homework is very difficult, but if you put in the effort, his tests don't seem to be as hard. Hard class good teacher

Word to the wise: if you did not start with Dawkins, do not take him for Cal III. I can tell that everything people are saying is true about him being a good teacher, but if you didn't have him for Cal I & II, then you will have a difficult time. I highly recommend him if you take all 3 calculus's with him.

I'm not even in this class. Paul is not even my "real" professor. But he may as well be! Learned 90% of Calc 1 from Paul's Online Math Notes and Khan Academy. He is kind of different from other professors. One can feel that difference. His lessons are clear, easy to understand and there are many example to understand the subject exactly.

Dr Dawkins is by far the professor who has impacted me the most. Math before Dawkins was not so fun. I actually understand Calculus now. I made an A in Cal I and an A in Cal II. I made a C in college algebra with another professor not name dawkins. He didn't hand out the A, I earned it, but could have not done it at all without his teaching ways.

Dawkins knows what hes talking about clearcut and has a very noticeable passion for the subject he teaches. If you aren't taught the subject in class you can always use his online resource to learn whatever you missed or weren't getting. He grades pretty strictly on notation but otherwise a great teacher.

Mr. Dawkins can divide by zero, knows the last decimal of pi, and can achieve pretty much any mathematical wonder that the average teacher would tell you isn't possible to do. More seriously, Mr. Dawkins is the best teacher you could ever hope for. He's very nice, makes math as clear as it can be and is always willing to help. Hands down the best.

I had Dawkins for Cal I, II and III. He is an awesome professor and I could retake him if I had the chance. He is a tough professor and will challenge you, but there is nothing in his exams that he hasn't prepared you for. I really recommended students to take him, if you are willing to take the challenge. Prepare to study and to learn from him.

He's a great teacher. Talks to you respectfully, if you don't understand something he will do his very best to make you understand. He is very knowledgeable and speaks eloquently, very understandable.

I have read Prof. Paul's notes, and they are amazing. He explains all the concepts well, and with clarity. The problem sums are quite a bit of fun too. :D

Honestly, I don't see why people are so crazy over him. Yes, he is excellent at his craft. But unless you spend hours and hours studying for his course then you won't make a good grade. And his final is HORRIBLE. I made A's in cal1&2 and took dawkins for cal3 and made a C. He is extremely tough, but explains material very well. Be prepared to work

Paul Dawkins is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. He moves through notes in class at a pretty fast pace but the way he describes the problems and the techniques he gives for doing the work make an extremely difficult class (calculus II) much more bearable. Also, he is always ready to help!

If you're the kind of person who can learn from the outdated lecture and homework only method, then have at it. If not, prepare to teach everything to yourself. This is a VERY hard class, with plenty of LOOOOONG, challenging homework. If you're good at math, about expect about 10-15 hours of homework a week. If not, it'll probably take about 16-24

The best math professor at Lamar, make sure you register early because his classes fill out in no time. This is Calculus, so you obviously should expect to do a little extra work outside of the classroom if you want to pass. You have one homework assignment due each week and he posts the answers to everything. No book needed. Highly recommended.

Let me start off by saying GREAT teacher, however DO NOT expect this class to be a walk in the park - it wont be. He gives homework every week, some are longer than others but they all TAKE TIME. Please, please, please do not take his homework for granted YOU WONT PASS. Do it. Ask questions, go to office hours, do not be lazy.

Probably the toughest class of my college career, so far. But, I can say without a doubt I would be retaking this class if I had any other professor. Dr. Dawkins homework problems are usually long and ridiculous but are generally harder than the test problems.

GREAT Professor! He has great trick and tips on how to work certain problems. He give out homework everyday but it is doable. I would not recommend doing the homework last minute though. His lectures are very clear! DO NOT SKIP CLASS! you will miss a lot.

Paul is the best professor I've ever had. He proves theorems like no other. Best lectures ever, you'll never get bored. Paul is understanding and always on top of responding to emails. He loves questions and answers them thoroughly in a way that makes sense. Also, his website is killing the game. If Paul was an emoji, he would be the 100.

It's very rare to come across someone who loves what he's doing, and also so good at it. Professor Dawkins is both. Having made all his material available online, is an imaginable act of generosity and shows his passion for teaching. Having went through 2/3 of it already, making it as easy and logically flowing, made the journey so enjoyable.

If you're on the fence about whether or not to take Prof. Dawkins , you shouldn't have made it this far. Also, good luck getting a seat! Dr. Dawkins is absolutely the best professor I've ever had the privilege to learn under. Prepare your brain. Don't expect to pass with flying colors, or any colors, if you don't have some previous calculus XP.

DR. Dawkins is a very smart and respectful professor. He always tries to help students and put all his time and efforts for his work. There are tests after every 3 homeworks, and he returns them the next day. They are not easy, but if you study, you will get an A for this class. I would recommend Dr. Dawkins to students who want to take Cal 1!

This guys notes have probably helped millions of students. Way better at explaining than any textbook you will ever find. If all teachers were able to explain the way this guy does, rocket science would be taught in grade school.

Really great math professor. Teaches in a very concise and easily understood way. However this class is not easy and you will have to work for every grade that is given. But if you are willing to put in the effort you will learn a lot and be better off for it.

I found Dr Dawkins online notes while I was studying for my Masters Qualyfying exam. I have not taken a calculus course in 13 years and my schools qualifying exams are really difficult. I solely relied on Dr Dawkins online notes to prepare for Calculus part of the exam. His notes are god send and he is the reason I passed!!

In High school I too the bare minimum and got a d in algebra. 31 years latter I wanted to return to school. Very little use of math over those years. I downloaded and studied his College algebra notes and easily placed into pre-calc. Heck, I could probably test out of calc with his notes if I really wanted to!

Super great guy! The class I took was moderately difficult, but his way of explaining content was unique and meaningful. There were a lot of opportunities to work with others and participate in discussions. Homework ranged in difficulty, but was only assigned once a week (and less often towards the end). Cares about his students.

Honestly one of the best professors I have taken. I went into Calculus 2 with a non-existent base from Calculus 1, but Dawkins' teaching methods are so helpful - and his online notes don't disappoint. He focuses on what topics are important and gives homework based on his lectures. His tests are a tad bit easier than the homework questions.

ok I don't even know where Lamar is but his online notes man like you don't even need to listen to your own professor-in fact, I did an experiment where I paid no attention in class, but looked at Paul's notes, and I got an A-! From not paying attention. This man is a real help.

Accessible outside of class, amazing lectures, get in his class as soon as classes open, they fill quick. Took him for calc 2 which is the hardest and I passed with an A during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Take him, do the work, and you'll pass.

Dawkins is probably the best math professor in the country. You don't need the textbook, he has a website that's super helpful. His homework is really hard, but he drops the lowest homework grade at the end of the semester. If you go to his office hours with a question he'll make sure you understand it before you leave. 10/10 would recommend.

Dr. Dawkins is one of the few professors who adapted well towards the "online learning period" during this pandemic. If you cross reference his notes and his lectures, this class will be the easiest A+ you'll get.

I did not have Professor Dawkins, but his website, Paul's Online Math Notes, was heavily implemented into my Calc II and Calc III classes. The explanation of concepts is excellent, and the examples make it much easier to pass the tests. I am sure I speak for everyone when I say it is a blessing that his lecture notes are available for free online.

I took him for Cal 1, 2, & 3, and I can't imagine learning calculus from anyone other than Dr. D. He explains things well and takes a practical approach to homework and exams. Part of his brilliance as a mathematician is that he explains things so that anyone can understand. I can't say enough good things about him. My favorite teacher ever.

Reading his page at Lamar University and his LinkedIn, he looks like someone who doesn't talk about or advertise himself but seems very available to his students. Probably millions of online fans have benefitted from his superbly organised notes. Got me through physics and astrophysics to postgraduate degree level and still refer to them regularly.

He has not only amazing, thought-out notes, but he also has an online website. He does these "Help Days" which are a day prior or day of the homework due dates.
