Hard to understand, unhelpful, nasty. Tests & what you study are two different things. No reviews no explanations whatsoever. Things everyone is a microbiologist & he is there to have fun. From 16 students in the class 9 are about to fail. Everyone dropped GPA because of him. DO NOT TAKE if you want to study hard and get C if you get lucky.

Very difficult to understand him, i find myself learning everything out of the book, i practically teach myself this course!

His labs are never ready for class. His structure is nonexistant. he doesn't clarify anything and you can't understand him at all.

You have to really earn a good grade in this class. He assigns A LOT of tedious assignments & exams aren't easy, but this class can be manageable. My main problem is that he is incredibly RUDE. yells at his students like we're 5yrs old. he's very impatient & short tempered. Has no respect for his students @ all

He is not a good instructor. He does not take the time to explain what he wants or how to properly do what he expects and then becomes very angry when the students get it wrong. He is disrespectful to his students. The course is hard already and you need a good instructor...not this guy. I wouldn't even recommend him if he was the last resort.

Reminds that he also teaches at Prairie View, is inconsistent about assignments, materials to be reviewed and allows for tardiness, but attendance is counted. PowerPoint driven lectures, outlines given. gave quizzes and two group projects. Reserves the right to change syllabus/ doesn't keep it updated. Confusing, not impossible

You will spend a lot of time (4-6 hours a week) for doing homework and it is just 10% of your final grade. Questions for exams are always difficult and unexpected. You won't understand anything from his lectures so you will spend extra 2-4 hours a week to listen lectures on YouTube from somebody else. Many people dropped, failed the class or got C

Horrible professor. Don't take his class if you are looking to learn and also get a good grade, because you are likely to not get both. I tried dropping the class but i wasn't able to because of the lab part. It was my greatest regret of 2017. Take at your own risk.

This teacher is disrespectful and rude. He WILL put questions on the exam that will not be on reviews.

He has a thick accent. He does not know how to explain things for you to understand. Does not communicate with you if you email him about anything. He is very unorganized. Although you do not do much work besides take quizzes. He is not a good teacher he just read off the slides which you can do at home.

He has a very harsh accent. He does not teach in a way for students to understand, when you ask him a question he makes you feel stupid for asking. His test content does not match up at all with his teaching. Does not give study guides or final exam reviews, you basically wing it.

This is for sure you cookie cutter professor that goes by the syllabus and doesn't bother being flexible in the way the information is being given. This is your typical science class with death by power points and he expects you to take 4 exams not including finals. That stated, if you don't mind teaching yourself, then reconsider.

Let's cut to the chase: he changed exam due date to a day EARLY and didn't notify ANYBODY. his syllabus states black-on-white you can DROP 1 exam - he said NOPE at end of semester. will NOT respond to emails. mandatory 200+ homework questions per chapter (16 chapters total) 5 tests 1 cumulative final DO. NOT. DO. IT.

AWFUL!!! He does not respond to emails or webex. I had to email the Department Chair and the Dean about him. He gave the wrong grades on assignments and he would not fix it. He would close the quizzes early in My Mastering Lab. His syllabus stated that he would drop the lowest test score, but he did not. All test are Lockdown Browser. Do not do it!

Gives NO responses to emails. His exams are ridiculous! Nothing about his lectures or short, bullet pointed "study guide" preps you for the exam. Rude attitude that belittles his students. Please do yourself a favor, save your GPA and try another professor.

This is my first time ever to rate a professor. I've never had any reason to give bad rating. I've had all A's in my courses. But I'll be honest with you Professor PAUL DRUMMOND is the worst professor that ever taught me. He's so unprofessional, disorganized rude and makes you feel less confident in class. Please don't take him!!!

Took this man for mico lab & he is THE ABSOLUTE WORSE professor I have ever taken. He didnt know how to use the new virtual lab w/ lab kits so he told us to figure it out. We were literally on our own. It was a 5 week course & we legit didnt start ANYTHING until the 3rd week. He told the class over and over again that he did not have time for us.

Honestly one of the worst professors I've ever had the displeasure of studying under. He's very incompetent, try asking him a simple question and it can turn ugly quick. I've never had to work so hard just to be able to learn the basic information. He will drop chapters worth of homework, yes I said "CHAPTERS" worth, due in less than a weeks time.

TERRIBLE! Never take him. Asking for help was an issue. Constantly called us stupid and said our questions were stupid. I have never been disrespected by anyone like that in my life. Had to go to the Dean. Has made students walk out crying because he yelled at them and called them stupid. Do yourself a favor and take anyone else but him.

This professor was highly unprofessional, rude and horrible. He was difficult to reach outside of class and when it came to the lecture, it was all over the place. I took him for spring 2022, which was the biggest mistake I have ever done. Take him at your own risk, he is not worth it.

This man has a horrible thick voice. He expects you to know the answers to his questions and if you don't, you'll be seen as inattentive. I am not here to put up with abusive behaviors. I don't need to pay money and waste my time just to hear someone trying to put me down instead of trying to help me understand the material. No thanks.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Dr. Drummond is IMPOSSIBLE to reach outside of class- does not respond to emails- the phone number he gave on the syllabus is not a valid #. His tests are THE HARDEST TESTS I HAVE EVER TAKEN- a lot of material not covered. He doesn't lecture in class and expects you to learn everything online-even though this is in person lab

Avoid this professor unless necessary. Pass by studying the textbook and using quizlets, but expect difficulty. Exams cover unreviewed content. Contradictions are frequent. Don't fully trust words or syllabus. Take everything with a grain of salt.

PLEASE PLEASE do NOT take this professor. Doesn't respond to any email, and will dropped your grade without telling you why, because you wouldn't get a reply from him. He will also not inform you on why there's no class like we had no idea why there were no class we also try reaching out but no answer.

When I was registering for this class, even though I checked the rate my professor reviews, I thought since it's an online class how hard it could be. IT'S HORRIBLE. ALMOST EVERYONE ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS CLASS. Five exams, weekly discussions, weekly quizzes, and three individual projects. The WORKLOAD ARE SUPER INSANE.

Pr. Drummond as a first semester college student was in my opinion a struggle and torture everyday to even be able to get a grasp of the concept in class, at best better teaching yourself. AS for the EXAMS!!. They cover other things beside what you learn in class....I was lucky to be the only few students passing, everyone else failed.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you see any good review here it was probably him who wrote it. He doesn't respond to emails,doesn't teach properly, takes time grading, doesn't review the exams etc. In case you're wondering I am a straight A student, I wasn't lazy, I actually DID the work So trust me DON'T TAKE HIM you will suffer and He'll make you hate micro.

They say everyone has a purpose in life, I really hope Mr Drummond finds his so he can quit teaching. Never in my life have had a more frustrating and sickening class. If you like take him, but mark my words you will regret it.

Reviews often came a day before exams and didn't match the test content, making preparation ineffective. Numerous quizzes and homework required effort but barely impacted the grade. Despite informing him of a valid reason for being late, he raised his tone at me, showing unprofessional behavior. His support was too late and insufficient. 0/10 class

I have never seen a professor's rating so low. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. He gives 10 pt extra credit per exam because his exams are hard. I don't know how he does not realize that he is not a good teacher when ALL his students barely pass his exams. LISTEN TO THE RATINGS AND TAKE SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU CAN.

Unfortunately, I was dumped in this class the day before classes started for whatever reason. He reads from the slides and never actually taught. Without my prior knowledge of chemistry and MicroBio, I would have failed. He has no interest in the student's understanding whatsoever. I was constantly on damage control for my grades PLEASE RUN AWAY.

He doesn't teach, just reads off the slides. His "exam reviews" are a waste of time because none of it is actually on the exam. I don't understand why he still teaches when everyone in his class fails the exams. AVOID HIM PLEASE!!! he is the worst teacher I've ever had. ALSO HE GIVES ZERO FEEDBACK. If you fail an assignment he won't explain why.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!! He is NOT a good professor. His lectures are dry and without explanation just skimming through the slides without breaking down the information. His exams can be up to 80 questions and the study guide he give doesn't help at all. The amount of Homework, quizzes and discussions are INSANE for a 1 credit lab!!

You can bealry understand what he is saying sometimes, correction most of the time, if his accent is hard to understand already, the way he grades you is harder, gives a lot of online work to do that really does not reflect on the lab test that he gives. On top of that he has a really bad attitude for students that like to ask question pleaseavoid!

Worst professor ever!

I took Drummond for BIOL 2301. Do not take his class. He changes like the wind, isn't clear with his instructions, he just isn't a good professor. He allows makeup exams, and he does the bare minimum as far as an instructor is required. You will have a boring lab, DO NOT ask him questions because he gets upset and short with you. Save yourself

DO NOT TAKE HIM. unless you have no other options. All homework is due at the end of the semester please be sure to get them done or it's lots of cramming. The study guides he makes for tests are useless, the tests are just labeling diagrams. Can be difficult to work with and set up time for retakes, and reads off the PowerPoint during lectures.

5 exams. No study guide or any type of direction in class. He skims over powerpoints in class as a lecture. Do not ask questions in class, or God forbid say the wrong answer after he forces you to respond even if you tell him that you're unsure; he will yell at you. 3 research paper assignments. He says to message him on canvas, he doesn't respond.

Do not take him. Trust me. If there are 2 options left, and one of them is at a location that's a little farther away, make the drive. I have never, ever, been dealt with a professor that is this incompetent. Absolutely 0 guidance, no help even in class when he's half explaining everything. We have yet to finish a lab 6 weeks into the semester.

I have never met someone as unprofessional as Drummond. He is mean and unorganized. I took lab/lecture classes. I learned nothing. HCC did nothing when people reported him. His wife said he removed study materials because he was upset at the class. Shame on HCC for letting him teach after almost every person failed and multiple reports were filed.

Very unorganized and unprepared. He often leaves class to get supplies and doesn't explain what we'll be doing until the last second. We never knew what to expect before coming in. His study guides don't help, and the exams are super confusing but worth most of the grade. There are lots of last-minute changes. Would not recommend!

He is very disorganized. I never knew what lab we were on or what class was going to look like. One test day we were so far behind we did a lecture, then a lab, then an exam on the same day. If you must take this professor, take a BIO1306 class with it and take it very seriously to learn most of the material. For the rest, memorize the lab reports.

This professor was AWFUL very disorganized and no one in the class knew what was going on at all times. I left class feeling stressed and anxious every week.

He would raise his voice often, compare students, and leave the lab for long periods of time.

i will never in my life take a class by him again. From day one i didn't understand what was going on. Me and him have SERVAL back and forths to the point i didn't even wanna come to the class anymore. So i highly recommend you do not take a class by him. Most tests are paper tests.

This professor does not care about you! He gave me depression. He leaves the meetings for 20-30 minutes and does not come back. Exam question have nothing to do with what he teaches. For exams you practically have only 1 minute per question. HCC needs to do better with these type of professors since some of us pay out of pocket for these classes.

For the last EXAM some of the students was not able to take it because of his fault and for those who did took it and received a grade he made them take it again, this professor is the worst it seems like HCC does not care either. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Took Microbiology at HCC and was randomly assigned to Drummond. Easily the worst professor I've had. Exams were impossible to finish, confusing, and didn't match the material. He ignored his own syllabus, never held promised office hours, and didn't respond to emails. Zero empathy for students.

We basically taught ourselves. Would give us only 1 hour for a test and use the rest of the time 1 hr 50 min to lecture. Would yell at us when we would ask for help. We never finished a lab in class because he would show up late and use the whole class time to try to prepare the lab. Don't take him!

Please save your GPA and avoid taking this class I gave him the benefit of the doubt as an all A student, the way he grades does not even follow along side his own syllabus. After the first exam over half the class dropped his course, and he does not grade properly. Please choose a different teacher if you want to actually pass and learn something.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt despite reading every comment on here, PLEASE for the love of god choose a different professor if you want an A or to even pass this class. He does not even follow his own syllabus when it comes to grading mentions he wants to set everyone up for success, but half the class dropped him after the first exam.

Take any other professor if you can. He does not care to respond to emails and is very unorganized. I got an A+ in lab and A's in all my other classes but a C in lecture because of his miscommunication and low effort.
