He's a funny guy, he can turn anything around on you when it deals with ethics, I encourage you to take intro to ethics, its a complete course of debating certain morals, and learning the history of ethics

The discussions are great in this class the work isn't too hard. Great teacher.

He tends to spend too much time on "one" issue. You find yourself begging for class to finish sometimes. Overall, good guy but boring guy. He needs to invest on a super soaker to keep students alert.

Looks like Rob Reiner. Very articulate speaker. Open to everyone's viewpoint. Nice guy. Fun class when everyone gets involved. Learned a lot about ethics and moral issues. Take him if you have the chance.

Nice guy, great to talk to, easy to talk to. maybe it;s the belly and the beard he;s lke santa clause. super nice and jolly family guy. He is a great professor and he really makes you think. I whole heartedly recommend him.

Nice guy, but can be boring at times. Fun during class discussion but it dies down very often so he'll continue to go on about absolutely nothing for hours until somebody joins in... but that's just my class, too many shy people. He prefers discussion and doesn't like papers, homework, or tests.

He's an awsome guy, makes u think outside the box. If ur some1 who doesn't like deep conversation, ur shy don't & don't really participate much then this may not be the class 4 u. But if u do, then this is an excellent class 4 you. He's very smart, kind, fair and barely gives any work.

NICE GUY!!! HOWEVER, do not personally like his teaching style. His class is lecture and group discussion only which can be boring. He never writes notes on the board. Allows students to take the conversation off in different, irrelevent directions. Have not recieved ANY GRADED ASSIGNMENTS.

Well yes the conversations go in a million directiosn but its alot of fun. his classes are easy and you leran alot. Eckstein yous the best!

I had him for Logic and I though he was great. Conversations do tend to go in a million directions but he will stop to help anyone that needs it. He is easy on his attendance policy and is easy to talk to.

Most students in Bergen Comm. Coll. think he is boring because they have Attention Deficit Disorder. He is one of the most well read, intelligent, and critical professors in the college. Bergen doesn't deserve him, he should be teaching at an IV League school.

I thought his class was fun compared to others. At least he brings things into your head that you would never otherwise think about. I enjoyed it more than other classes.

Okay, i dont know the major malfunction of that rater, but this prof. is awesome, he is very very smart, and tho it might be boring sometimes, most of the time the class brings up the craziest convos, it as an easy A and very interesting, the prof. is mad funny and very easy going...def take this prof. for philosophy

The class can be extremely boring at times, but he will bend over backwards to help the students, and doesn't bombard you with work. Unlike other prof's he's understanding of the fact that students have other classes and responsibilities other than his class. Take him, you won't regret it!

SUPER easy guy. Youll get an A if you do the bare minimum. However, the lectures drag on forever and you WILL need a pillow.

Brilliant man, his philosophy on teaching is very unique and very effective. He waits till you fall asleep then he teaches you while your in that half sleep stage. This class is Stress free, and you learn a bit too! An easy A if you do as he asks (which is nothing), and if you are falling behind, just talk to him, he will help. Great guy!!!!!!

Eckstein moral views are unbelivable. He is very sane. He is very careful with his words and always on point. I can disagree on some of his views on life, but that makes it more interesting, because he knows how to talk with you without putting you down. Every professor should be encouraged to reach the levels that this man lives on. A++ Thanx..

Great teacher. Always enters class with "HEL-lo" (accent on the "hel" lol). Just sit there, listen, do the one or two papers that he'll give you an A on, and you're good to go. :)

by far one and only inteligent man in bcc. His classes are very interesting and fun. If you can appreciate a smart man take his class. Easy going, his idea is to teach you think and not to check your memory or your informations. Very easy to talk to and understand. Recommended with all my heart!

I had him for contemp moral issues. Only 2 papers make up your grade for the semester! Loved his lectures, if you think you have a strong standing point on something? He'll change your mind. Great philosopher..i enjoyed him alot. Leniant with grading, he cares more about your opinion than the text. Definately take him.

Professor Eckstein is really bright. The man has the patience of a Saint when dealing with slow people, I swear to god. In short, he is all-around awesome. He lectures, so make sure you write down your notes!

There are times when you will be extremely bored.I really didn't like his style of teaching because I didn't learn much. However, if you want an easy A take his class. We had one paper and no tests.

Friendly and very knowledgeable. Philosophy is a class which can be puzzling in the beginning, but he breaks it down into understandable steps. I recommend everyone take a class with him.

Absolutely the best!!! I found the class to be very interesting.

Very interesting and easy class. Every day we listened to him lecture then we had a big group discussion about the topic. Two easy papers are the only assignments all semester! He is a genius professor, you get out of the class whatchu put in, if you listen you learn, if not you wont- either way you get an A tho! Take him for any class he teaches!

i took him 4 Contem Moral Issues...Very nice guy, very smart, he made really good points... however we only discussed about abortion the WHOLE SEMESTER!! i expected 2 know about some other "issues" so the class got pretty boring... interesting class only when he gets off topic and talks about social problems or other stuff...

Had him for a 3 hour logic class. Pretty much just a mental test with him, he speaks in a very monotone voice and just TALKS, pretty much asks for no feedback. With that said, if you can make it through his class, you'll get an A just for showing up, and I am NOT kidding. Midterm was a Take-home and the final was optional, COME ON!

Professor Eckstein is a wonderful professor, very smart, knows the material, excellent explanations about dificult readings. Take him, his classes are very interesting and stress free, you will enjoy them and will learn a lot. One essay and a final paper about a topic related to class discussions. You choose the topic. What else can you ask for?

Absolutely wonderful professor. He's highly intelligent, thoughtful, and precise. He listens carefully to what you say and responds thoughtfully. His focus is on your understanding, not your ability to BS your way through a test or a paper. I absolutely loved this class, and highly recommend it, and him.

Very relaxed, I had a 3 hour class with him. Not to bad. Didnt show up often. Great guy to talk to. WOULD TAKE AGAIN!

He is very intelligent. He always tries to relate the subject matter to current events to keep the class interested. 3 hour class gets to be a pain after a while but he never comments if you leave early or don't show up. He definitely cares about your grade and gives you every opportunity to hand it in.

intro to religion I had him for and it was conversational. Had the summer course and we talked alot about the subject of religion and had debates in class. The work load was light. I would recommend him. nice guy

Eckstein is an awesome guy. His classes tend to drag on but if you are paying attention it can be very interesting. One essay the entire semester and he lets you rewrite it if you don't like your grade. He's awesome I would recommend him.

Great Prof. I enjoyed this low stress class. He makes you think and is non judgemental about what you think. Brings up different perspectives and makes the subject matter most interesting. Take his if you like to think.

Its a very straight forward class. If you participate and attend class you would be fine. He makes you write two essays which is really. Really recommend him. Take him. DOnt miss your chance!

Mixed feelings here. He is a great guy, very helpful and truly cares about his students. However, he is absent a lot and his class is very unstructured. Def take him if you enjoy participating in discussions and debates in class, otherwise you might get kinda lost/bored.

Easy to a flaw. The whole semester we had three assignments none of which were graded. Our final grade seemed random. He's lazy and doesn't teach much but when he does you'll really learn. Double edged sword here but overall I'd say take him for an easy fun class.

Loose absence policy, tries to avoid using textbooks, not many assignments. My recommendation is if you're taking some hard classes, take this one to balance it out. Eckstein is very flexible. You can have lots of great debates, relax, and learn a lot in this class without much pressure. It's a little boring, but an A is very achievable.

His class is a joke. I do not think anyone in the class got lower than a B. I got an A with no problem. He was absent most of the semester and gave two in class assignments, which were easy as hell. Easiest A you'll ever get.

A lot of knowledge without all the work

I took intro to Philosophy with him; you do use your textbook, for he gives assignments based on the readings and what he teaches in class. He inspired me to take more philosophy classes; his class opened my mind to new ways of thinking. If you miss his class you might not miss in terms of grade, yet you will miss invaluable knowledge. He is great!

Best professor I have ever had, he is so easy. No tests and you don't have to show up for class a lot. He gave 2 papers and that was it he didn't even care how long it had to be. Never used the text book everything he wants you to read he gives you or is online. He comes late a lot or just doesn't show up at all. Did very little work and got a B+

P. Eckstein is REALLY easy. Although he might seem like a professor who asks a lot of questions, he really makes you think and question certain aspects of life. That's the whole point of philosophy so who ever says they didn't learn anything is just lying cuz they just weren't trying to "think outside the box."

Amazing professor. I had an interest in philosophy prior to attending this class and since the first lecture I was hooked. His method of teaching is best compared to the Socratic method, where he does not attempt to instill his beliefs and idealogies on you, rather he helps you build your own.
