One of the best
Cool guy, helped me through all the JC crud and now I'm at UCSB taking Differential Calculus with some Icelandic shmuck. Wish Paul was teaching it.
the best

i like Mr. Farnham he was my high school teacher, and he has always was very helpful
Rushes thru lectures. All tests were scantron, even the final, leaving no room for partial credit. Tests were worded in such a way that they looked like entirely new material. I would not recommend this teacher unless you are a math whiz and self-learn
great teacher!
WACK BRO! Man you dont even know this teacher is soooooooo hard. he's so fast pace. Dont take this teacher. Hes very organized but tough.
Tests are not scantron so he gives you partial credit if you get a question wrong, which helps alot! Very friendly, funny, and is a cool guy.
good instructor. reasonable, good pace. keeps you accountable. made sure everything was clear before moving on. recommended.

By far, the best mathematics teacher I have ever had. This professor will never hesitate to start all over for you if you are not understanding. I'm usually a C student when it comes to math, but I got an A. Most helpful teacher I have yet to come accross
Decent guy. Teaches and interacts with you like a friend, not a person that's a step above you.
Very cool guy, down to earth. He takes the time to explain everything, even for the stupid questions. He is very thorough in his lectures, and his quizes keeps you on your toes. As long as you do the work you'll do fine in the class. And did i mention he gives extra credit sometimes.
this guy was really kool. i took him during the winter intersession, & i learned alot. if you dont understand the material, dont worry because he will scream out all the steps to you.& if you still dont understand the work he will get louder & louder. but his a great teacher, laid back & easy work..
Will help you however you can. Makes you see how math can apply to the real world. Could ask neighbor for help on quizzes if I remember correctly. Final project applies to real world skills and will help you!
He is the BEST math teacher I had, honestly! He is very clear, organized, and willing to help. Quizzes everyday, 3 midterms, final exam. Hwk doesn't count but u shud definitely do it 2 do well on quizzes. TAKE HIM!!! He will help you understand math well! I got an A in 150A & getting A in 150B now
He's a cool guy that makes it easy to sit in his class without falling aslep!
really boring, tedious class, sucks the life out of calculus. Dont take him
i dont know what they are talking about his grading policy is screwed up. 50% of your grade should never be determined by quizzes, the midterms are worth 20% pretty much nothing, and the final is 30%. His teaching style and homework he assigns(he assigns quite a number of even problems), might do well for a person that has taken calculus already.
a summer class, 50 problems of homework every night???? and the homework is on the computer now!!! and aol wont show the problems you can pretty much only use the lab..and if you hit a wrong button it delets all your homework..if you work i dont recommend him....TO MUCH HOMEWORK!!!drops the lowest grades, his grading system is really off..cant help
He's a totally cool guy, when he's teaching he's really serious because he actually wants everyone to learn and understand. All of his notes are written on the board. He's makes everything clear and understandable. The homework is turned in in packets. You HAVE to do the packets. Tests are short and fairly easy. He's a total HOTTIE!
HE's very clear and is willing to help students. will go over the problem until you understand it. very nice guy and generous on tests, he basically tells you what to study for. can't get any better than this. he doesnt collect hw but has daily quizzes which arent bad. he's funny and hot!

nice, approachable, good teacher.
He is awesome! And he's hot! Easy class.....great instructor.
He's really awesome! He makes SO much sense and he goes through everything really clear. It's as if he was teaching high school... not just make you guess everything out. He's also good looking haha :P
he is very bright and smart
He really likes Math, that is obvious, but he moves way to fast. His exams are multiple choice which i didnt like since you get no partial credit whatsoever. He is very nice but that is irrelevant for your grade.
I think he is a good teacher doesnt care about attendance when i took the class we did all the homework and quizzes online which i like because i dont really like going to school he also goes through things pretty fast but to me its a good thing and he explains the math so that it seems simple because i suck at math but i did good in his class.
this guy kicks ass. he explains well and he speaks good too. he is realistic about attendance and noise in the class. his tests aren't too hard and the course is memorable.
TOTALLY AWESOME PROF! I've never gotten above a C in a math class before. He is definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had! He'll totally take the time to help you if you dont understand. I'd recommend him to anyone
Says one thing and does another- He told me if I got a 88% he'd give me an A but he didn't. Dishonest. Does not go over things more than once so you better get it the first time. Unclear in teaching.
this is alot harder than his math 20 course, but as long as you do the homework it's not that bad. He's a very approachable nice guy, if you have problems, ASK QUESTIONS!
If you want an A, don't take this class.
this guy teaches very well. so much better than other teachers. he explains clearly and logically. only one thing, he needs to pass the vape
Hes so sexy!!
dude rocks.. he teaches well and is patient with helping students. i recommend him to anyone.
Nice teacher but tough class.
I've never done well in a math class in my life. i took a 2 week class from him and got a solid B. Anyone that can do that is good. He is always willing to help if you need it, and is very encouraging as well. I'd recommend him to anyone who struggles with math.
He's a good guy:lives, eats, & sleeps math. He loves working out problems on the board himself, but he'll skip steps, and a lot of them. no grated hw, assigns even problems, but no answers, so you don't know if you're doing it right or not. Quiz every day and 4 exams. The class average is about 73% for the exams. Getting a c is good in his class.
This guy is a great teacher. He is definately passionate about math. He is also always there to help the students and has even offered to answer any questions in 150B (since he won't be teaching that class next semester). 200 points-daily quizzes, 200 points-exams (3 exams, lowest dropped), and 200-MC final (for sp06)-Graph. calc. allowed for all
So hot to look at! Majoy eye candy while in class. Teaches from the book but then writes his own exams which are much much harder. The exam review material doesn't match the tests because of this. So it's a bit rough
Hard! Most of the class had low grades. He gives a lot of homework, and then his exams are very hard,. He uses all the info out of the book and teaches from there, quizzes from there as well. THEN he writes his own exams. They are way above and beyond!!Even the exam "review sheet" doesn't match his exams. He gets review out of book! Dont take him!
I took it in the winter. HE IS DEFINITELY HOT STUFF. it wasnt so bad taking it because he was really helpful. he is a little difficult but he also curved alot. haha. But i think out of all the math teachers i have taken, he is the BEST!! N' HOTTEST.
I thought he was an **** and a bad teacher.
This guy, this is the guy. He knows his stuff and is really interested in math which helps make the class more livelike. If your looking for a good teacher this is it.
The best professor i have ever seen.
He is cool, you do your hw online and if you have a question you just email him and he gets back pretty quick. hw is easy and worth doing, it makes the test easier. his test are hard but if you do well on them you really know that you know it, best part is they are mulitply choice tests, just need to run the numbers.
hes hot and he knows his stuff. Im not good at math but i understood it when he taught it and ended up with a B in his class. Take him.
This guys is great teacher. You have to be an idiot to not understand. He really wants to help and he explains everything really clearly. He's awesome. Defininately take him whenever you can.
he was very nice and very helpfull
honestly, i have always SUCKED IN MATH!! i just too math 141 fall '06 and i got a damn D+ more precisely: 69.7% and she still wouldnt bump me up. all i have to say is, i regret not taking farnham, hes THE BEST MATH TEACHER in fjc by far. hes clear, organized and knows what hes talking about. i strongly recomment him.
I had Mr. Franham for the fall 2006 semester. And he was one the best professors i ever had. His class is easy. If you do your homework(online) it is very easy to pass his class. HOWEVER his exams is kinda difficult, but its multiple choice so that should help. Plus he is not strict in attendance. Overall he is a very good teacher,so take him.
Mr. Farnham is awesome. I have never in my life seen anyone love math so much. He is super helpful and if you don't understand or are worried about something, he is always ready to talk to you. He answers emails sometimes in a matter of seconds. He confessed to waiting for them. He is super clear and although his tests are difficult you can pass.
yeah he rocks.. explains the material pretty much as simply as possible and understands and answers questions very well. you can take each quizz twice and keep the best of the two scores. you needa know your stuff for the tests, its easy to make a mistake and end up with one of the wrong multiple choices.. final seemed to be easier then the tests
best math teacher ive had so far. he explains everything in simple terms and will answer any questions. really loves teaching and it shows. very helpful. kinda alot of hw but its easy. tests are just as easy if you do the homework.
he is very nice guy and he know what he teach , his lecture very very interesting , i wish everybody take this teacher
He is a great teach. He makes Algebra easier to understand. I got a B in the class and I'm terrible at Math. It's not an easy class, but he drops the lowest quiz and homework grades. He's there to help if you need it. I recommend his class for the math challenged.
he's a great teacher!! he's helpful and he's pretty chill.Because of him im gonna be a math major! =) If you take notes and study, you should pass with at least a B!
first of all he is HOT, he is a very NICE, and HELPFUL teacher. he KNOWS his calculus really well. I recommend anyone to take HIM, because he is a Great teacher and you will learn math easily by his great teaching
This guy rocks. Dont come to this class if you dont love math, he will be too much for you. Took him in summer and learned alot, best teacher in a long time. He knows his stuff just got to keep up.
Paul's a nice guy, and he's willing to help but his teaching methods SUCK. He grades extremely harsh on his tests. Most people praising him are girls with crushes on him, but if you want to learn, find someone else. He brought some foreign lady as a sub quite a lot. His tests are very very tricky. Don't believe the subjective reviews on this prof.
dont take this guy. he's very smart, but can't teach for his life. out of 35 kids, 6 passed with a C and only one B student. his tests are very tricky and complicated and offers no study guide.
Great teacher, makes the class lectures easy to understand. Math isn't my fav. subject, but having him as a teacher makes it fun and ive learned a lot. Tests are some what hard, just study tho and u will be fine. Lots of hw, most quizzes are pretty easy. I would most def. take his class again.
i never took a math teacher that did such a good job at being clear. he used two different colors on the board, which made it even better. i recommend him
A great professor, especially at the J.C. level. He has an incredible talent to teach math. I thought he was a lot of fun and his class was pretty easy. I would recommend him in a heart beat because he genuinely cares about math and his students.
He is very nice
He helped me look at math in a whole new way!
he's such an amazing teacher. makes everything so clear. i tried this class before and when i finally took this instructor i passed. he has homework due every week or so. a quiz every week and test. he drops the lowest scored and curves tests. he does everything possible to help everyone pass. i DEFINATELY recommend him! take his class!!
Mr.Farnham is in love w/ math! I learned an immensity of math from him! He really challenges your math skills- "mental math" and "preparation for calculus" are two statements that you will always hear in this class. His lectures are not always clear and easy to understand. If you are a hard worker and determined to pass this class, take him. Howev
he is the best. took him last year for 141, have been waiting him to teach 150. HE IS THE BEST!!
This instructor is amazing. I am horrible at math, but he explains it so well...I actually understand it now. You can tell he really cares about his students. His lectures are very clear and he provides a ton of examples and note to help you. Totally recommend for all the math haters out there!
He was an excellent teacher! he made math super easy! I loved his class. The way he explained things was great!!! If you have trouble with math, this is definitely the teacher for you!!
Class Average Exam#1= 59%, Exam#2=58%... He didn't curve =/ so i needed to Drop =(
if u need to pass take him
So i'm taking this class over summer and it's hard work but he's a very good teacher! just make sure you stay on top of your stuff and ACTUALLY do your homework because he doesn't collect it so you may be discouraged. He's real pleasure to look at also :)
His tests are pretty tricky and he grades a little hard. But, I'm not that good at math and never do the homework and I'm still getting a B. If you ask him for help he is really nice about it and you can tell that he cares about his students doing well. Quiz everyday actually helps. Subtle but good sense of humor :)
make sure you seat in front because he writes really small. he's really fast at explaining things and many times students correct him. he's super hard. he gives too much homework. even his quizzes are hard. he's always late for class
Ok.. i guess if u need to pass take him
If you are pretty terrible at math like i am, and need a teacher that will go slow and thorough... DO NOT i repeat DO NOT take this guy. He uses useless terminology, covers 4 sections in a day (which is extremely overwhelming), and his tests are scantron! which means you DONT get credit for showing your work or anything. take Ikeda or Margo instead
Teaches thoroughly, just make sure to study for quizzes. Grades pretty fair, he curves the grades if everyone in the class does pretty bad. Never used textbook, just did online hw. Would definitely take his class again.
He is super hard.He gives alot of homework. His exams and quizzes are hard too.Do not take him
k i despise math and coudlnt past trig for the life of me but he's seriously a really good teacher. His lectures are not boring at all and he goes over things pretty well. For some reason i think he's really funny but u guys might not. he throws in little tic tac comments that give u a subtle "ha", makes the class a bit more interesting. tests hard
Uses useless terms which just throws you off throughout the class. Throws multiple sections into one problem and makes the tests way more complicated then they need to be. He skips over multiple parts of the problem because he feels were intelligent enough to know those parts. I feel lost more than half the time.
if you take his class.. you better have skills.
He is a good teacher, I hate math and it comes easier to me with him teaching. He gives homework but its not busy work its super helpful and tells you when you're wrong because its online. Plus sitting in his class having to look at him everyday isn't a bad thing :)
I have always been a B or C student in math until this guy! He really goes out of his way to help students and its always nice seeing a teacher loving what he does. He is super energetic and he thoroughly prepares you for the next level of math.
Very helpful and clear, one of the main advantages of his class is that he uses scantrons for all of his tests.
Mr. Farnham is AWESOME! I hate math....with a passion. But going to his class everyday (during the summer session)was SO enjoyable. He's fun, and SO enthusiastic about the class. He loves math, and it shows. :) If I could take him for all math classes for the rest of my college career, I would. :) He's super chill, and SUPER helpful. Take him.
not that great of a teacher as other posted... he was an ok teacher, but not the best. he gave about 30-50 online problems daily and if you got it wrong and couldnt get the write answer then your grade would drop. one of the worst math classes i personally ever taken.
Great awesome teacher, he provides all the tools for you to pass...online homework is actually easy (you have infinite times to correct your work so there is no excuse) his notes are extremely helpful, don't slack of and study and you shall definitely pass :D
great teacher. All of the homework is online and you have an unlimited number of chances to fix the ones you got wrong.Do not need the textbook, it is online with the homework. He does not let you use calculators until the end of the course, but you greatly appreciate them after. Not the easiest, but you learn. very helpful with your questions also.
Excellent math teacher. Very organized and clear. Lectures are super helpful and easy to understand. Great interaction with class during lecture (he'll go back and explain something another way if the class seems lost). Lots of homework, but good practice (keep up!!!) Great study guides. I highly recommend him.
AMAZING!! By far the best math teacher that I have ever had in my life. He makes class fun and explains everything extremely well. I wish I could take him for all of my math classes. Plus, I enjoyed looking at him everyday :)
He makes this class fun and interesting, where Math is usually not fun and interesting to me.I enjoyed going to class because I knew I would learn and be entertained. His quizzes are easy, his exams are hard,do the study exams and they will help you.Try not to miss class as he teaches a lot in each session and its worth going to.I would take him agai
He is very hard. And uses alot of math terms that are confusing. I was very lost in this class. And he moves very fast. He's a nice guy but a very confusing math teacher.
HUGE MISTAKE! i got an A in math 20, and had to drop Paul Farnhams class with half of the class! He discourages written work and does ALL the work in his head during notes, very confusing! all the homework is online and he picks favorites in the class. if math is not your thing, dont take him, he expects u to know advanced math terms/concepts!RUN!!
I'm extremely challenged when it comes to math, especially algebra. Mr. Farnham never made me feel stupid for asking him to explain things, even when he just tried to and I couldn't understand right away. I recommend him highly and ended up going from failing Mr. Judy's class to being the top of the class with Mr. Farnham.
Farnham is a good professor, he definitely will work with you to make sure you are following and understanding. However, I'm terrible at math no matter what so of course I'm not going to like the course in itself. I am glad I took this course with Farnham, all homework is online, quizzes once a week and a handful of tests. He is a hottie!
1st Time in whole life I got an A in math, he made the class material easy to understand. Recommend him highly. Notes and Explanation are so thorough you can leave your txt at home. Very timely responses to emails etc. HW online is great. Not a class you can drag feet on. You put in the work and he will meet you more than half way. Great teacher.
He really wants to help you. I emailed his about random stuff and he never got mad and always responded swiftly. Don't buy the book if taking online. The online component has the online book already.
highly recommended, great teacher! I am not good at math at all and I completely understood it with Farnham! multiple choice tests (by the way)
Take his class! Great guy and a great teacher. Really loves math and wants to help his students.
Paul was a great teacher but he moved fairly fast and moves through steps quickly; understandably so because it was a hybrid class that only met once a week. Nice guy, answered questions clearly. I wouldn't hesitate to take him again with an on-campus class- but stay away from hybrid/online unless you're comfortable teaching yourself the material.
Farnham is a great professor! He has a sense of humor and is very approachable and helpful. tons of online hw and a quiz every week. If you have the book and do the hw you should be able to pass the class.
Hard class, I received a D so I had to retake the class. However, he does make the class interesting.
LOVE this teacher. He is very though in explaining the problems. He loves math and gets very excited to teach us how things relate each other. Best math teacher by far I've ever gotten. Such a cool guy and he's good looking too which is a plus. Just take good notes and don't be afraid to ask questions. Passed with an A. Again, great teacher!!!!
Attempted his hybrid Math 40 class without success. I dropped after 6 weeks because the class was moving too quickly. He's not a bad teacher, but kind of just thinks everything is super easy.. maybe because it is for him. Did absorb what I needed to and decided to try w another instructor.
I took his hybrid class in a regular semester. He's a pretty chill teacher, all the hw and quizzes are online and 3 of the 4 exams are online as well which is pretty cool. Note: if you have the Disability Support Services, remind him by email that you took the On-Campus exam at the Disability Testing Center.
Ive taken Mr Farnham for basic and intermediate algebra, he did a great job I feel much more confident with math now because he does a great job at explaining the concepts. His test are difficult and his class is not easy. Expect to work hard if you want a good grade. Lots of HW questions every week, But you will benefit from doing HW
Professor Farnham is very helpful, if you don't understand a problem he will explain step by step. The online course does have a lot of homework questions, and in order to take quiz you must complete 70% of the homework. The exams are tough but as long as you complete your homework, you'll be fine. Overall hes a great math teacher.
Do yourself a favor, take this professor; a very good Math teacher. I took both Hybrid Math 20 and 40 and learned a lot in this course. He communicates with complete clarity. Be prepared for the high level of homework; no complaints, it will help to prepare you for the exam, not easy. Attendance and participation counts towards your final grade.
I took his Online class through Coastline, we met twice for tests. I wish I would have taken a class with him to see him everyday! Basically theres aprox. 60 questions a week and 3 attempts at weekly quizzes, 2 on-campus tests with notes, and weekly discussion board--that I never did-- where you just ask/answer a question. Super easy going class.
He's cool
Professor Paul, really helps you out with extra credit and is a very fair teacher. Go to class & do the homework & you will have no problem passing.
This is one of the easiest math classes I've ever taken, and it was all thanks to him. You can tell how passionate he is about the math he's teaching and it makes it easyenjoyable to follow. He's also pretty funny. Since it was a hybrid class homework and test were really easy. As long as you put in effort you'll pass
The only math teacher that gives credit for homework (30% of grade) Great instructor, his grading is clear, he gives ample opportunity to succeed with up to 3 attempts on each weekly quiz and any online exams. He also often curves the in class exams. I took him for Math 15OL, 20HY and 40HY and hate to go on to the next level with another teacher
I would take his class again, he does offer a lot of homework on the webpage (MYMATHLAB,PEARSON). His lecture is short, and sometimes skip chapters. He would expect you to read them online which is very simple to understand.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. He is very clear in his lectures and helps his students. Overall amazing professor!
I took prof. Farnham's math15 online class, to pass the class do all the mymathlab hw and tests. Do the chapter review quiz/test to help you out before you take a quiz/test. Mymathlab provides step by step explanations to problems. Do not fall behind I did and went from a B to a C hw is 20-50 questions, quizzes 10 questions and tests 50 questions.
I love professor Farnham he is such a great teacher. He is super chill loves to interact with students. If you do all the homework and quizzes on mymathlab you pass the class. Love him!
World's chillest professor. Super flexible when I couldn't make the midterm. Shows up to exams like he just came over from Newport Beach.
He's a great professor who really loves to teach. He's willing to go over lots of problems, examples or anything to make sure you understand concepts. His tests are tough but fair. You have to really understand the material. nothing is easy about his exams. Quiz every day, HW not collected and he drops your lowest exam. Really have to work for an A
Excellent professor, very helpful. I am extremely weak in math and he makes it easier to learn. Theres a lot of homework so if you can't be independent don't take the hybrid you have to teach yourself a huge percentage of the work. He can be a little fast paced but if you ask questions he's willing to help. Take him, you won't regret it.
Took him for all math classes at FJC, started in math 40. The only reason I graduated FJC, moved on to CSUF, and earned my B.A. That is all.
Hes a chill professor. Kevin Costner of the math department. Mainly uses PowerPoints for lecture. Do your work and youll pass.
Attendance is not mandatory. Homework and quizzes are all online, you have 3 chances to re-take the quiz. Tests are somewhat hard, you have to actually know the material. He dropped the lowest homework, quiz and test score for our class. Lectures could be better. He is hands down the most chill teacher I've had.
Hes a great professor, but you have to study, especially if you aren't good in math. His program is structured for success of his students, but its not easy my any means. Also he's a super cool guy who wants to help his students. I would definitely retake him.
Took Professor Farnham for MATH 41 over the 2019 spring semester, and man can I say he's definitely my favorite math professor thus far at Fullerton college. He's very funny, helpful, caring and he even drops your lowest quiz and exam score. Yet if you don't show up for class you will be off track and HW!!! Need to do your HW, in order to pass!
The class was a lot of work, but Professor Farham is fair and resources are available for math.
Awesome
I took this class during COVID online and he doesn't really reach out to his students regarding academics. He kinda just expects you to learn it on mymathlab I would suggest you get Chegg so you can get the help you need. he also drops your 2 lowest quiz score and lowest test score
Currently taking online Math 041. The class itself takes a lot of effort, especially if you arent that great at math. Ive only had to email the professor once or twice and he was fairly helpful in return. He just takes a little while to reply. I started the class 2 weeks late and he was helpful in allowing me to catch up by extending the due date
Class is asynchronous, attendance is not mandatory, and you do everything on your own time. All lessons, homework, quiz, and tests are on mymathlab online. Its an easy A if you do your work. You can retake the quiz 3 times and It takes your best score.
Homework, quizzes & exams are done on MyMathLab, weekly discussions on Canvas. HW consists of about 30 problems per week, and you input answers using numbers from your regular keyboard & math symbols like square root from an embedded on-screen keyboard. Quizzes & exams have problems almost identical to homework. Discussion posts are about concepts.
This professor was by far one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. 1 to 3 sections of homework were due before each class session with a quiz/exam every week. If you are in the honors class, exams are significantly more difficult than the regular exams. The final is 17 questions which is almost impossible to complete in 2 hours, most didn't
Took Calc I over the summer with him, and loved his class' structure. Very fast paced but exams are clear. Relative to the homework and quizzes. Only harsh thing is his exam grading.. he wants VERY clear work shown, will dock points if he feels enough work wasn't shown. Homework is on WebAssign. Loved his class so much, that I took CALC II with him
He is great and very knowledgeable, but he is extremely quick in the lecture and he solves problems in seconds without thinking
Took CALC I and II with him. He's a tough grader, but truly takes his time to explain. Has high expectations for you, so prepare to study. Very picky on work shown for exams, but he does give you a heads up on what's going to be on it. Final was TOUGH & wasn't fair, IMO. But overall a great experience.. OVERALL really fair & wants you to succeed.
He is definitely knowledgeable but I don't recommend his calculus course. First of all, he doesn't record the lectures and he goes over the content so quickly. There are 17 questions in the final exam which is unfair because we usually get 7 questions for each exam. If there is a simple mistake in your work, he takes off a lot of points.
He is a very tough grader and will take iff points for little things. He lectures way too fast if you blink you will get lost and doesnt record lectures and wouldnt share the PDFs. The final exam dropped me a littler grade because it was 17 questions in 2 hours which was impossible and no time to think about the problem. DONT TAKE!!
I'm not sure why this professor's rating is so high. I took his Trig online class this fall and it was the hardest course I have ever taken. The math was not the problem, this professor does not put effort into teaching his students. Many students dropped the course or received C's or lower. You will be lost with this professor. Skip him, trust me.
I took the online course for MATH 120 which was done entirely on pearson. I never interacted with the professor which also made the class difficult. Pearson does not do a good job of explaining statistics concepts and I would highly recommend taking this class in person or with lectures made my the professor.
Hadn't taken math in 8 years + barely scraped by back then. This class was not intimidating at all. No need to reach out for assistance, there are in-depth YouTube vids for every HW question. Minimal pre-req knowledge required, just prepare to learn ins and outs of Statcrunch. Exams allow 3 attempts (2 for final), which I found to be a huge relief!
Unlike traditional classes, you are expected to view video lectures before class so you are introduced to topics and can have questions ready if you are confused. When going over homework, explanations are detailed with drawn graphs. Each day comes with classwork to practice the topics covered and opportunities to ask for assistance.
A little intimidating to ask questions but he did clear up any and all confusion when asked. Expects you to to come to class prepared for the lecture (which is the key to excel in math courses). Very good on partial exam credit but lots of Webassign homework . Just do the homework and come to class prepared. Tests aren't too bad. You will pass.
Mr. Farnham was a pretty simple teacher. You are required to respond to weekly discussion boards along with homework of course. Assignments around the time of a midterm can be a lot but if you manage your time right you will succeed. I believe I would have maybe passed this class with a better grade if I had managed my time better.
Amazing professor and very passionate about what he does. Makes sure there isn't too much homework on Mondays so people can watch football. Just expect two hours of homework at least 4 nights a week. This isn't specific to Farnham's course, rather, calculus in general. Gives take home quizzes and meaningful classwork. Very effective instructor.
Maybe this class was just hard because it was online? But he was not very attentive at all, instructions weren't clear. He told us we could use an 83 OR 84 calc but his lectures only showed how to use 84. DON'T USE STATCRUNCH, it won't be available to use on tests. Which is dumb cause why provide it or even show us how to use it?
Calc 2 - Had to drop since he goes way too fast. Ridicules students for asking questions. Assigns hours upon hours of homework and studying, but doesn't put the same effort back into teaching the material. Take any other professor if possible.
Professor Farnham is the greatest math teacher I have personally ever had. Lectures are very clear, class days are well structured for learning. As long as you show up and do the work you will pass. Expect some heavy homework, but it is what is necessary to understand this course. Even though I've always struggled with math, this class was perfect.
Farnham is very clear and organized when teaching. Sometimes, he's a bit too precise since he likes going over proofs for certain formulas, which can sometimes take a bit of class time. If he sounds like he's yelling, he's just very passionate. Calc III is made manageable by him. Ask him questions (but not too many!), and make sure to STUDY!
Took Calculus 1 online spring 2024 with him. I only saw him in person twice for the second exam and final exam. Assignments were assigned weekly, and were nearly impossible to not get 100% on (5 attempts for each question). The final exam average was56%(no curve)because mostly everyone cheated on the online homework/exams and didn't learn anything.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Very cool, lenient when grading quizzes, assigns less homework than other professors I've taken. His class is structred differently than other professors, you learn the sections on your own but in class you apply those lessons by doing problems over and over to insure you retain the information. Would take again!
His lectures were so good! His quizzes were also fair, and tests even more fair. Light grader, and overall fun class. There is a decent amount of homework, though if you go to his office hours to ask for help, he tries everything in his power to help you.
Calculus 2 with Professor Farnham is no easy feat. He moves quickly, but if you stay on top of the material using the free textbook and tools like unstuckstudy, you can succeed. Expect a challenging but rewarding experience.
If you love doing 10 different assignments each with a weekly quiz, take him!! It starts off easy, but he slams you with so much work. I had to drop the class because of how much work he assigned. I had sleepless nights because I work and I am taking 3 different classes. If you work don't take him. IF I WERE YOU DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Fun guy, u can tell he LOVES math. tests are a bit harder than hw, and makes u memorize the formulas, so study up. weekly test and 4 exams. light grader. Super helpfull but doesn't like a ton of questions, so try to figure it out before asking. He cares about students, office hours was a great time to get help. prefers Cengage hw, but u get 5 trys.
Professor Farnham was great at explaining the concepts but the system he used to put out assignments and classwork was a waste of time and confusing. They made a 4-unit class feel like a heavier workload than it should be. Regardless, he was able to accommodate students' questions on homework and exams. BEWARE: the exams are DIFFICULT.
Prof is chill dude, his class is weighed fairly imo between quizzes and tests and hw. make sure to study a lot if u want an A in the class. his exams are what u can expect from the book. make sure to learn the book probs bcuz they help a lot for exam!! he drops lowest. also a very fair grader
he's passionate and his lectures are great. this can be a heavy class if u dont pace urself and study properly. lots of hw, 1 quiz every week, 4 exams total. quizzes based on hw, exams are fair and hard, but manageable. ask him questions, understand the material, and u will do fine
sometimes wont show up to office hours, but when he does he is very helpful; teaches more theory than examples (there were large lengths when i would zone out and not miss anything significant); he is very passionate about math; textbook required but easily pirated; attendance not mandatory but you'd miss a lot by not showing up; he is a fun dude
