Do not take a class with him unless you are a math genius. He is not very clear. He teaches so fast. The first day of class he tells you that he does not teach but presents. If you need more than just a presentation, you will want to take another professo

The guy seems to have god intentions but just isn't very clear or organized. I liked the man but will have to give his course a thumbs down.
We started with 30 students finished with 13 but who knows how many actually passed with a "C". Makes you waste time doing online HW that is not even on the test. All book HW is optional, however you will quickly learn that many problems are on
Goes at an extremely fast pace however is very helpful if you want to talk with him and go over it again during his office hours. Nice guy very funny, still not recommended because I know there are better teachers.

At first it is hard to understand his teaching style. But you get the hang of it. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Passed first test, failed the second so miserably there was no way i could have recovered even if i got all 100's after. Strongly dont recomend him. He thinks were all math wizzes...

The worst teacher at Valencia! His Jokes Are not even Jokes. He could not add 4 + 3 the first day of class and speeks no English!!!!!! He is horrible. Please save your self. Half the class passed and it was borderline passing!
Avoid him. Speaks bad english. Cocky and with and attitude. Never lets you use the calculator. Disorganized, boring and he takes attendance everyday. 3absense and you are OUT. F-

Don't take him if you learn the best from sitting in class. His test are exactly from the home work, so if you are good at teaching yourself, you'll do fine.
ugh I hate this guy. When he explains you still won't understand. do the problems in the book over and over till you get it 'cause you wont if you ask him.
on the first day of trig he promised daily pop quizzes. we got four all semester. he also kept the exams after we took them, so we couldn't review them to see what we did wrong. with a total of seven grades all semester, if you miss one, you fail.
I had him for an online college math course and I found him to be very unhelpful. He didn't want to look over tests to see if the "Online Grade System" made a mistake. He is lazy, doesn't care about helping students. Take another teacher!

Teaches 3 chapters per day. Can't speak english for nothing. You won't learn nothing from the course if you take him. Bad teacher!
Do not take this prof!! You can't understand a word he says and moves extremely fast! He explains everything one way and if you don't understand it, you'd get lost. Tests are hard and covers nothing on what we went over in class.
Took on-line Pre-Calc Algebra Spr 2004. Found him to be readily available by phone and at his office. Very helpful and knowledgeable teacher. I received a C for my final grade.
I took a class with him and it was the best class ever. If you do the homework and the practice test, you can easily pass his class. I you really want to learn, definetly take his classes.
STAY AWAY FROM HIM. HE NEEDS ENLISH LESSONS, AND IS HORRIBLE AT EXPLAINING CONCEPTS!

I hate math, but he was okay. I took his online course. He's sort of a hard teacher, but it's definately possible to get through the class with a B or an A. I would say this class/teacher combo is so-so, but I LOVE the online classes.
He goes through the material fast and mercilessly. He gives you more h.w. than any math teacher in Valencia and I know after all the math I took. Out of 30 students, only 9 finished the class, and not all of them passed. so obviously, SOMETHING'S GOTTA BE WRONG WITH HIM!

Took this class online over summer and scratched by with an A. The online class is easy if you have time to do the homework problems. the homework grade offsets the tests grades, you have unlimited chances to do the homework before the due date and its online, got 100 ever homework. avg. 79 on test for A
This guy blames his failure of students on them and not himself. He claims students are stupid becuase they cant remember the details on the back side of a penny when we see it everyday.

IF YOU CAN AVOID TAKING HIS CLASS, YOU'RE IN LUCK! If you must take his class, make sure you print and study his online notes daily, and do your homework! Reading the book will help too! If you can, take this class online! Why? Well, 'cause going to his class will not help you much. He's unclear, thickly accented, makes many mistakes & can't draw!!
If you're self motivated and willing to put the time into the course, he will return your effort. Very helpful if you go to him for help. If you want to ask him for something don't make lame excuses. I wish I'd taken another teacher, but he's not so bad (I'm changing majors though)
Took the course over the summer. This class was basically self taught via Plato on-line learning. Was a little disapppointed that there was not an extra credit opportunity like in the previous PLATO courses. However the instructor returned e-mails promptly and would be available for questions if needed. I got an A, but it was hard.
He is a horrible teacher. Don't take him for math. If your bad in math, he makes it worst.
Can't say much about this teacher because I took the PLATO online class which is basically self paced. I ended up with a C because I did awful on the tests but did good on homework. It's challenging and not easy if math is hard for you, but if you are good at teaching yourself or getting outside help I would reccomend the online class. Good luck!
HORRIBLE!!! I have never had anything but A in math. Before final i had between A and B. At the fina exam he took all the formulas, i ended up with C. Not clear, egoistic and ugly outside and inside. Avoid him!!! Gives pop quizes.
Horrible teacher, can't understand a word he says and he is the most unhelpful teacher I have ever had... If math is your strong subject be prepared to come out confused and if Math is your weak subject be prepared to DROP!! He thinks that nothing is his fault and he is amazing.. but he's NOT
he is a horrible teacher. he is so confusing that he conduses himself. then he doesn't test you over the same types of problems that the book has. i passed...but it sucked...
STAY AWAY!! My grade suffers from his tests-They dont match HW/Quiz material. When I asked for help he made it seem like MY fault when I have never seen this material before and math is undeniably my weakest subject. He does nothing to TEACH the subject. I was supposed to graduate this semester, but wont because of his class. WASTE OF TIME!
Worst professor I have ever encountered in my school days. Test are not even close to the guides he gives and is always purposely trying to confuse you.
i read all of the comments about this teacher and told my self i i could ignore them and give this teacher a try... i'm not a slacker and i actually enjoy math... but this teacher... HE WAS HORRID!!!! very boring and extremly confusing!
Horrible. Hard to understand. Doesn't fully show you how to work problems. Ridiculously hard tests. Laughs at students when they ask questions he thinks are dumb or irrelevant. A true jackass.

took online class, very hard, no breaks, no extra credit, no credit for doing your HW, no considerations, must find help on your own or from VCC tutors, good luck!
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. The tests do not cover the material learned. When I looked to him for help in some areas, he could care less. And then seems happy to give me a bad grade, when I asked all through the semester to please help me.
omg. where do i start. i am an extremely hard worker and his classes are way too hard. I work on it at least 6 hours a day. Impossible to get good grades in here. If u ask a question through email, he'll tell you to get a tutor. I took a challenging course to get a good grasp for calculus, but this is ridiculous. I see triangles in my sleep now.
Did the online class - may as well not have had a teacher. He was no help whatsoever. By some miracle I got an A but I worked my bum off and used the tutoring center extensively to be able to understand the material.
I took his online class. It was pretty easy and self explanitory. As long as u go to the orientation for the class u will understand the class 4 the semester. u work from a website and get graded right then and there. There were 3 Tests, and a final. He let u makeup what u missed at the end. I would recommend to ppl who are self disciplined.
Prof Fernandez is the worst teacher I ever had. Prof Fernandez would have a study guide for each test, and he would say to learn this study guide, the questions on the study guide is what is going to be on the test. I would spend two weeks studying this study guide and when test came none of the questions on the study guide was on the test.
TRY TO AVOID THIS TEACHER, unless you like being clueless! I took him online & he sends out generic emails to "act" as if he trying to motivate you with helpful links. For 1 the links are broken & don't work & 2 when you do use any material he gives you it's irrelevant to the upcoming test.I had to work HARD for a B that I usually get effortlessly.
Definitely not the easiest class but Prof. Fernandez is really nice and prompt to respond to emails. His exams are meant to trip you up a bit and he loves True/False questions. The homework and quizzes aren't bad but the exams can be a pain. It's entirely up to you to learn the material and do the homework. Otherwise, you're doomed.
Online class, FYI,Prof Acosta and he share all lesson plans and tests. Prepare to spend 12+ hours each week doing homework and quizzes online in order to get an A or B. Doable, just a lot of solo work with no help. Math Center at EC was helpful. Attend his Calculator Workshop, it was worth time. Test: take advantage of retakes on tests, same test!!
love this professor. Currenntly enrolled in online class... the coursework is hard no matter who teaches it, but he is crystal clear and incredibly helpful. Really nice guy... if he teaches any other courses I need for my degree I will gladly take the ones he teaches.

One of the worst math teahcers I've ever had. You are given a quiz every day at the beginning of class on the class befores work, which doesnt give time to learn the material. Quizes are added up and count as a test grade, book also sucks as with the program it uses for online work
This professor is the worst.Took trig online and nothing in the practice problems were on the test.He is very arrogant and doesn't care at all about his students success.I had an emergency situation during the semester and he didn't follow any of the promises in his syllabus about replacing a missed test with the finals score and left me 1% short.
After reading some of the previous reviews, I was definitely terrified of being stuck with this class but he turned out to be not so bad.His instructions were pretty clear and I thought he did a good job teaching the material. I do suggest to do the hw because that's where he copy all of the quiz questions from!
Honestly worst teacher I've ever had and he's totally arrogant. He doesn't explain anything his notes are on a power point he doesn't work out any problems and he doesn't let you use a calculator and you can't even understand his notes because he never show any steps he just writes the question and the answer. Seriously I'm an A B student and I did great in calc 2 but this guy is nearly impossible. They even changed the text to a way more confusing book so it's really hard to teach yourself
Took class online. Hard since you have to practically teach yourself but he was there to answer any questions i had. He is very nice and available to answer any questions you may have. Class has online hw and 4 tests (including final) on campus but it you do the work it should be fine.
I took his ONLINE class. He was extremely helpful. Sent out emails almost on a daily basis to remind us on HW, tests and upcoming tests. Took the test on-site, but that was absolutely OK. Great professor, great class! I would take his class again.
I took College Allegbra online and in this matter you must work on you own; however, the mac online program is great and I think it is almost better than an onsite class, though you can rewind.The professor itself is ok. The tests are different from the study guide, but if you make the effort to understand you will be fine. You teach yourself!
WORST professor at Valencia College he won't care about the students and act like if you already know everything in he class awful accent and really awkward jokes honestly this class was one of the worst experiences of my life
Prof. Paul Fernandez is the most caring Prof. I have ever met!!! You can take your quizzes twice and highest grade count!!! Study guide is very helpful!!! Always answers your questions...IT's an online class, the best!!! He is always there for you!!!
The online class was very easy to navigate, my class used the MML code. The reading was okay - but the videos were really what helped. The professor was available for help if stuck, but also recommended some great website that gave more examples. The study guides and pp's helped w/ tests and you can can take an optional final to raise your grade.
Took this class online & thought it was going to be a breeze. There is lots of reading and examples to help you. No textbook but you will need the Labcode. All tests are at the testing center. Each test has a section with a calculator and one without, so know your stuff. This professor is very communicative and sends lots of emails.
The class itself and the homework is easy if you read the textbook. Online classes for math require self teaching. The math program, Maple TA, regularly crashes, even during tests on campus. And you have to pay careful attention to the questions because each answer has to be submitted in a different way.
I do not recommend taking an online trigonometry class, unless you have an insane amount of time available to glue yourself to the book. I am usually very good at math, but I struggled to even get a B this time. The professor did encourage me to talk to him if I had any problems, though, so it's not his fault. This class would be better as hybrid.
I Asked professor a simple question to explain something even if it was with another example and he responded that he can not answer for me... When clearly I was asking for a example.. sadly if you think an online class will give you more time it won't, especially if the teacher does not care get ready to spend time figuring things out on your own.
bad professor just don't take his class trust me. very long tests, a lot of homework and the book is completely useless. I'm very good at math and I love to study it as well, but this man just don't know how become a professor.

He expect that you have no life, job or other classes ,so you will get around 90 question plus 2-3 quizzes WEEKLY .
Took the hybrid class and you have to teach yourself everything. Weekly quizzes in class and he is not very good at explaining. Barely passed the class.
Precalculus class- this class is terrible. I love online classes, love to read the book and practice the problems. But this class: the tests are nothing like the homework or quizzes you take. No calculator allowed at all. There's no preparation for the tests. Homework and quizzes are MML which is the only way to pass the class.
Really difficult, just links you to youtube videos of other teachers and expects you to know everything by following along.
pretty hard tests, which makes the final a bit easy. expect to study a lot. Best tool to use are the videos in mymathlab, if you ask him questions he will reply back promptly.
He's the least helpful math professor I've ever had. Expect 2-3 quizzes a week, and two exams every 3 weeks. Trick questions throughout, and subject matter not covered in the book. Expect to fail, even if you're good at math.
I've taken plenty of online classes and all of them were easy. This one is ridiculous. The homework and quizzes are completely different from each other. The book is USELESS. The test has two parts, one at home, and the other at a Valencia, for the campus test there are no calculators or notes allowed. Only way to pass is with online hw and quizzes
The only good thing is that the professor responds to emails quickly. The due dates are all over the place, they don't have set dates every week. The quizzes are nothing like the homework. There's no notes or calculators for the testing center part of the test. Unless you memorize your notes at home you won't pass this class. Do not take this prof!
WORST PROFESSOR IVE TAKEN THUS FAR. DOESNT ALLOW CALCULATORS ON MATH TRIG TESTS! LIKE OOO WHATS THE SIN OF 58.3? GOOD LUCK IF U TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR GRADE. YOU COULD SIT AT AN 69.4% AND HE WONT PASS YOU. ONLINE CLASS WAS HARD AND WHAT WAS TAUGHT BY THE VIDEOS OF OTHER PPL WAS NOTHING LIKE THE REAL TEST
This class was hard, but the professor was prompt. He was a nice guy and collaborated online.
Really cool, and he was there to answer questions.
He is smart professor, and he is very challenging. I believe if we want to learn math in a good way, this professor is the best. I was happy taking this course because he answered my questions fast and he was willing to help any time.
I asked for help because I was struggling with his tests despite studying my butt off. I lived an hour away from all campuses and had a full time job so I asked for more online resources and he told me I clearly don't have time for the class and brushed off my request for help. I had to drop or I would have failed.
