Great teacher. I hate things that are political but he made the class fun and in the end I really did learn a lot.
Very enjoyable class considering it is about Politics. He made it interesting and fun. Highly recommend.
he loves to teach and it shows very easy quizes if you come to class and pay attention he'll give just about all the anwsers but in the end you really do learn alot
Cool teacher, just show up to class every time and you will get an A. Fun class
Prof. Frank is the greatest. I am very glad that I took his class.
Prof. Frank is great. Take this class, you'll be very pleased.
TAKE THIS CLASS. I have never been so pleased with a course. He is clear, concise, devoted, educated, funny, patient, compelling, RELEVANT, wise, WELL ROUNDED, informed, up to date, dynamic, personable, flexible, non-bias and free.
You have to be a moron to fail this class. Its not thats its so easy, but Frank is very clear in what he wants and makes getting an A grade very simple if you can follow his clear directions.
Frank is a great teacher. His quizzes are very easy and his teaching is very interesting. We did an election through the year that was fun, and the class is an easy B. An A might be hard to get, but it's an easy B.
interesting, must read newspapers
This guy is just awesome. He has a gift for making even the most boring, rudimentary aspects of politics interesting. Tests are ridiculously easy, and lectures are fast-paced and fun. Plus, he's not a bad-looking guy.
Great class, I was very suprised. Paul makes his class fun, and you actualy learn something. Im glad I took this one, highly recomended.
Paul Frank is wonderful professor. Easy to approach, always willing and wanting to help and get class involved. Though quizzes are easy, don't be fooled. Read, participate in class. College means studying. You have to do the work. One of the best A's I ever got.
Great class, I was very suprised. Paul Frank makes his Political Science fun - especially during an election year. Lots of twists and turns. Lecture slides are available online and he specifically points out what will be on quizes. This is an easy "A" providing you participate and take notes.
Frank is the best teacher I have ever had. Before this class I had a pretty big interest in this subject and when I came out of it I was so interested that I was thinking of a possible major. Frank is a great influence and a great teacher that is very clear and to the point with fun activities
I was dreading Poli Sci before taking Paul, and he made the subject very interesting. His class is very easy if you just take good notes and participate. He has every laid out very clearly, and the quizzes are easy. He will help you in whatever you need, especially when writing the term paper.
wasn't looking forward to taking this class, but after taking w/prof frank, i'm glad i did. the only thing is, he seems to be losing his spark towards the end. not hard to get a or b out of the class.
Frank is a great teacher and an amazing hard working person. He dedicates strongly to all his students and makes the subject of politics to be fun to learn and, more than that he opens the stundents appetite to learn more about politics. I will repeat Paul's classes any time. Thank you
Paul is a fun, energetic teacher who encourages student participation. The bulk of the grade is from quizzes, and those are a snap if you take notes (you can even get them online if you miss any days). One 5 page paper is also required. Overall, I would highly recommend Paul to anyone.
Take this class and don't be afraid to get involved in discussions.
Profesor Frank is good at what he teaches....he could always do better though.
he was way too easy, it drove me crazy, I think he would be a really good high school teacher
I miss being in this class because i was informed about the world events. The newspaper articles and dicussion when class start is very useful. He is uncomplicated straightforward
Great teacher. I felt he was very clear and is very helpful. His lectures went with the quizes. Take note they are helpful. Not a confusing teacher, which makes the class easy if you keep up with all your work. Speak up in class and show up every class period.
Wow!!! Paul Frank was the best professor I've ever had. He's a easy going professor. When I had questions he was very helpful and very specific on what he expected.
Super easy, but fun class. Attendance not an issue, easy quizzes, roughly 10% available for extra credit. Term paper format is somewhat confusing because it is more of a proposal. Pay attention in class for an easy A.
THE EASIEST CLASS EVER!... i'll leave it at that...
Don't bother buying the book, as all homework is based on handouts. Make sure to read and stay up on current events considering he will often randomly call on people to comment. Course Work: 6 quizzes, 10 homework assignments, problem solution paper, final, and plenty of extra credit.
good teacher that enjoys his work.
He is a good teacher. You get out of the class only as much as you put in, but should pass no matter what. Extremely nice and eager to work with students.
This class was so easy. Can get buy w/out book. Lectures are neatly outlined and organized and tests are based on that. No one should fail this! Made politics interesting! He is a very nice, personable guy and is cute too! If u fail this u should re-evaluate your future!
Paul is a great teacher. This is the second class I take with him and I keep enjoying his teaching. On this class we had quizzes, a paper, and a final. With Paul's organization all can be done easily. I learned so much about the world and I became even more interested in Politics. Thank you Paul, the best for you and your kids.
This is the number one professor that I would highly recommend to anyone who needs to take a political science class. He is an awesome professor!!!
He was the most interesting teacher I've ever met!! lots of extra credits you can earn if you attend the class. I recommend you to read a newspaper every weekend or watch TV(not drama but News!) for Monday. Do what he says! Good luck!! :]
Prof. Frank is the best professors I had in City. He is very funny and his class is very practical. I now go to a UC but I would still rank is class among my best classes.
Great Professor! Lots of ground covered. I espacialy enjoyed the indepth study of U.S. government. Not biased and no political slant. I'll miss your classes! PM
Great class for anyone unfamiliar with the subject or with a casual understanding of it. However, if you are an activist or have an in depth understanding of these issues, keep your nose down and don't question the teacher, he doesn't like it.
I highly recommend this class/teacher to fulfill GE req. for area D1. He is very informative, energetic & interesting. Great teacher...great class!
He is a totally awesome teacher. I was not interested in the subject at all when I firt enrolled in the class. But he makes the subject interesting, and I learned a lot. I highly recommend taking him! The best professor I have ever had.

Prof. Frank is the best
FANTASTIC TEACHER! His has a "it's not what you know it's who you know" philosophy about politics. I was barely in class ever, as I had a political internship. Practically took his class as in independant studies class. Passed with no problem. All of his quizzes come from the Power point lecture, and his tests come from the quizzes. Dont bother with buying the book, you wont need it.
Take his class, you will be happy you did!
he is hella easy just get hella extra credit and u might not even have to take the final to get a A for his class.
Straight forward course with this teacher. Easy A if you study.
Could there be a better Political Science teacher? Everyone told me Poly Sci is the worst, but this guy even got me to join the Associated Student Government. This guy gets people interested in actually running for office.. He's that good.
The best political science professor ever.
AWESOME..WHAT CAN I SAY?..IF U HAVE NO INTEREST IN POLITICS TAKE THIS CLASS...IF U HAVE AN INTEREST IN POLITICS YOU PROBABLY HAVE ALREADY TAKEN 1 OR MORE OF HIS 'AWESOME' CLASSES
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! great lectures and you dont even have to open the book because the lectures are so informative! Wish all SCC professors were this good!!
Great teacher!!He's lectures are on black board. You do not need to open the book to pass this class with A. He grades very easy. There is one paper to write, which is due on the last week of the semester. The paper is not that hard. Quizes are very easy. Good luck!!!
Great teacher. definitely take him for poli sci! i had no interest in politics at all before i took him, and now it's a whole different thing. best poli sci teacher ever!
highly recommended teach. i took him for two classes. very passionate and helpful in his teaching. not boring at all. best teacher i ever had.
This was the easiest class ever. I reccomend him to anbody. He loves politics and he is very passionate about his class. Very approachable. All you have to do to pass his class is what he tells you particapate. There are quizs and homework but the quizs are based on the lecture. I got an A in his class without even cracking open the book.
The first day, the teacher seemed to demand too much hands-on (i.e. bringing in a periodical everyday on current news, volunteering for a campaign or something else political, conducting a survey with the public). I'm a person who just want bookwork.
Prof. Frank is a great teacher. He's passionate about Politics and makes you interested too. I would recommend him to anyone. No use for the book, everything is from lecture and notes.
totally cool teacher..had him for 301 and 310..really easy class, he keeps you entertained and you learn a lot that you normally would never care about..definitely take him if you have the choice
He is the best! This class is pretty easy. There are 7 easy quizes. for hw you have to read the newspaper and a reading every week but he doesn't collect it till end of the semester and PLENTY of extra credit. TAKE HIM if you can, you will not regret it. Over all fun guy but dont use your phone or fall asleep in class..he will call you out!!
He is a GREAT professor, fun, smart, witty, and he keeps you engaged. There are 7 10 question quizzes, and the final is just another 10 question quiz and two short essay questions. Homework is pretty simple but there's a lot of it, only ten extra cred pts avail. but if you show up to class and pay attention, you'll ace the quizzes and the class.
Scary easy. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me when I take real classes at Univ. He's fun and witty but I can hardly remember anything that I "learned". Class goes super fast and he's more interested in explaining the obvious rather than anything important that the class might find boring.
Yep! It was easy. Do all your weekly hmwk, quizes, 1 essay and he gives out lots of extra credits. Take good notes and read the book. He is colorful character and very passionate about political science.
He is pretty easy. He's a great teacher. There are 7 quizzes which are pretty easy. You just have to read the book and study your notes. The final exam was pretty easy too. For the first part of the final exam there were 10 questions just like the quizzes and the second part there was 2 essay questions that he gives a study guide for.
He knows politics, having an extensive background in it. He's got a sense of humor which can be at turns relevant and mean. He kept making fun of any political ideas and people that were not completely middle of the road. He is passionate and charismatic. If you are a Polisci major, you probably couldn't do much better than taking Paul Frank.
Very Cool Teacher! He's extremely enthusiastic about politics and it shows in his teaching. Mr. Frank gets the students involved and makes the material easy to understand and retain for the future. One of the best I've had so far!!!
he is a pretty interactive and funny professor. He is a professed moderate, leaning niether to the right nor the left... and it shows too; this is an unusual quality in my experience. He has one research paper which is pretty specific, and most of his quiz questions come from lectures. If you like the subject, he's probably a great teacher.
Gives a quiz about every week on assigned chapters and a assigned weekly reading from a packet, TAKE THE QUIZ's seriously because those add up they are 10pts each!Real fun class funny personality which keeps you interested! Good Instructor
Hands down, best teacher at Sac City. His class is easy but you still learn a lot. He makes everything so interesing and he's extremely organized. If you fail this class, you had to try to fail it.
It's true that Paul's not the greatest political mind of all-time, but he's more than qualified as a political science teacher. He knows his stuff, and you'll learn the basics of politics well if you take the class seriously. His lectures are great, but the textbook isn't used AT ALL--and it's not a very good one anyway--so don't buy it.
This teacher is awesome. Unbiased, open to listen, and I aint gonna lie, he's cute for an old guy! Very interactive, almost reinacts historical events at times, funny! Assignments easy, he says you have to subscribe to newspaper but you can just go online and get articles, he's cool with it. Awesome teacher, hope to have him again in the future.
He's a very nice guy, but I wasn't impressed by his teaching. Since I was in an Honors course, there weren't many students, but I got the feeling the bigger the class the better he is. When he's not teaching and free to express his opinions, he's much more interesting and his knowledge shows.
I hold Paul Frank in the highest esteem, he's funny, witty and smart. The class is easy, but you learn a LOT! I think he is the best teacher at SCC. I could not say enough about him
Very nice teacher, you learn a lot from his class.
I would advise him to anyone. I was not interested in politics and still am not, but in his class you will learn more than that. He lets students talk, discuss, and argue to find their own answers rather than lecturing someone else's opinions. Do not buy the book, it's useless, but do read all his power points and articles. And chill, he's awesome
I highly recommend everyone to take Frank's class. I learned valuable materials from his class and he makes lectures very interesting. Frank is very smart and he definitely knows what he's talking about. Sac City needs more professors like him.
GREAT TEACHER!! He is one of the best teachers that I have had at City. His tests can be hard but he is an amazing teacher
Paul Frank for President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's the greatest teacher ever! He practically gives you the answers to the exams and is very helpful
Here's the way to get an A in Paul Frank's class: (1) Read the slides and print them out before class. (2) Do the homework assignments each week. They take less than 10 minutes and he will call you on it. (3) Don't worry if you start out with a bad grade, he will see that your trying.
Great teacher. No need for the book. He will tell you that you need the book but you don't. Buy the 6 dollar blue blue tho. Your homework is in there.Everything you need is in the class notes so pay attention.3 quizes and a final. The final is 50 points and quizes are 10. Attending class is a must and do your homework. You will pass easily!!
GREAT PROFESSOR. ALWAYS ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS AND ALWAYS EXPLAIN CLEARLY ON THE SUBJECT. QUIZ IS EASY IF YOU TAKE NOTES IN CLASS AND TEST ALSO NOT HARD EITHER. ALL THE HOMEWORK AND WRITING ASSISG. IS NOT HARD. STRONGLY RECOMMEND OTHER TO TAKE HIM.
Prof Frank is awesome!!! Cool, funny, helpful, and very good at teaching. I would definitely take him again.
He's the best thing that ever happened to his students and the PolSci department! He's everything you want in a teacher - knowledgeable, exciting, understanding, helpful, full of wisdom and charisma. Come to class, do the homework, print out the PowerPoint slides, don't buy the book (he's better!), listen, and participate. You will love him!
This was one of the best classes I have ever taken at City. Professor Frank not only motivates you to come to class everyday but makes it very fun. I highly recommend this class :)
Frank is the best professor at SCC! He is really nice and geuninely wants you to succeed in college. There' aren't enough words to describe how totally awesome he is! Just make sure you bring in the newspaper each day. I've always gotten almost perfect grades in his classes with minimal effort.
I'd have to disagree. He is really nice and funny, but he is way tooo easy that it you dont really learn much. He is not extrict at all. He is tooo laid back. If your major is POLSCI and u really wanna know your stuff take a more challenging teacher. Im not saying he is not nice, he is, but tooooooo lazy!!
Prof Frank is totally amazing! He's very humorous, and he's not one of those polisci teachers that are very democratic or republican, he's in-between so you won't be offended. He also offers excellent internships that you will make sometimes more than $20 an hour!!!
I've had professor frank before this semster and he honestly is the greatest professor i've had. Very knowlegable, helpful, and clear in explaining. I disagree with the fact he is lazy and too easy. He just puts the class together to help other people learn. I mean it is a COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
His intro to United States Government was informative and EAAAASSSSYYY. if you can't get an A in this class drop out and apply at McDonalds.
I expected this class be more challenging, it is definitely an easy A. The quizzes are a breeze, as long as you pay attention in class. Prof Frank is entertaining and makes the class enjoyable, though our class went off topic all the time, it was a lot of fun. Definitely a class worth taking. Tip: don't buy the book, you won't use it.
Prof Frank is very charismatic & joyful person. This guy loves what he teaches. If you don?t like politics, trust me, with him, he will make it fun & interesting. Just come to class, take notes & you will get an easy A. Quizzes & extra credit is very easy. If you follow along good, you will not need to buy the book.
Great Teacher. He truly love politics and by the end of this class, you might too. Pay attention to his lecture!!!!!
The best prof at SCC! Four stars! I changed my major to his class because its so good. The class is SUPER easy though..
I've taken two classes with Paul and both times I had a fun and time learning with ease. If you attend class and have half a brain you should get an A. Tests and quizzes are based highly on lectured material and the lectures are clear and to the point.
I've taken classes with Frank for years, definitely an easy A! Although he is getting a little more critical throughout the years.. Just the other day, he made any students who didnt complete there homework stand up for a good five minutes. I understand why, but it was very unprofessional. I felt terrible for the students standing up.
This is the only class this semester that I took because I *had* too, but Prof Frank really makes the class fun. Plus, he's really passionate about politics and very unbiased (he will not give you one of those anit-bush rants or criticize you for your political opinions). Love him!!
I love this teacher1 He is very interesting and enthusiastic about his job. I would definetley recomend him! You do take a lot of notes but they really help out. I hope to take more classes from him later. He's GREAT!!!
Such a funny guy! Although, I think he knows that he's gained the reputation as being an easy grader, so he's been making tests harder.. I can't remember any class of his that I didn't laugh all the way through. ALWAYS do the homework! More importantly, make sure this is your first class of the day, because I see alot of people come in late.
Great Teacher! Pretty easy, just do the work and pay attention. You have to write 10 one-page essays throughout the semester rather than one 10 pages essay at the end. He truly loves politics and loves sharing it with his students. Keeps his political views to himself. Take him!
If you actually want to learn about pol. sci., DO NOT take this prof. He seems far more concerned with entertaining you as an audience member than teaching you. His curriculum confirms the fact that he believes he's teaching 8th graders. To be honest, my gov't class in high school was far more difficult than his class. Very disappointing over all.
Took his Intro. to California State Politics class (don't remember class code). A lot of the other comments stated that he was funny, I don't really remember laughing much in his class. He gave me a huge attitude when I had to leave early once (the only time). Also, I don't buy that he is an independent.
I took into to political science and got an A. He posts his lectures online, but he emphasizes what is important, so go to class! Do not get on your phone in class, he will call you out on it! He is very interesting and his lectures are very clear and straight forward. This class is a lot of work, 10 1 pg essays and 10 hw assignments.
This class isn't easy. You have 10 1 page essays along with 15 homework assignments and 15 news article reviews. You also have to subcribe to a news paper. I'd never take another class from Prof Frank again with the amount of work he gives out.
Amazing teacher!!This class is easy so lomg as you keep up with the weekly homework-1 newspaper article(you do not have to subscribe to one you just get xtra credit if you do-other persons comment is wrong)and 1 article from the workbook and total of 10 one page essays that are just research articles.3quizes and 1 multchoice final.Givs xtra credit
Paul Frank makes politics fun! I love his class and he almost talked me into becoming a POLS major! Take this teacher if you want to actually learn about the Government! I highly recommend this teacher!
Very informative professor. Loved this class! Hated politics before taking his class. Understand it a lot more and find it very interesting. He is very fair and expects class participation. Definitely recommend him!
Energetic and upbeat instructor. Gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, so take advantage of it. For people taking him for an AA or transfering I would encourage taking him. If you are a Political Science or International Relations is your major I wouldn't encourage taking this professor.
MR. FRANK, WHAT A GREAT TEACHER! IT WAS SUCH A GREAT COLLEGE EXPERIENCE WITH HIM AS A TEACHER. FUNNY, ENTERTAINING, EASY, AND YOU LEARN. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT. YOU'D BE CRAZY NOT TO TAKE THIS GUY!
love this professor, but warning read the newspapers =D
His class was fun. I never thought that I would say that, since I had wanted nothing to do with politics before the class. I will miss the class. He is funny too.
He was Funny, Easy, Nice, and Personable. Now that that's out of the way, he wasn't that great of a POLS teacher. His class is "Dumbed-Down." Only take him if you want to be entertained. Some information, especially history, was inaccurate. Also, He tends to scratch the surface instead of digging deep into the issues. But in all it's an easy class.
Ehhhhh. Topic was fun but don't expect much out of him. If you email him he responds informally like a chat and without really answering your question. I got an A because his syllabus and everything lays it all out for you and I studied for the final w flash cards and his pwrpoints on d2l. As a class, interesting and easy. As a teacher, useless.
Awesome teacher. I didn't even want to be involved in politics before I took the class and I was dreading sitting in class for lectures every week. But He always kept me interested, and he also got me to really like politics. Even did the March in March haha! Also has both a conservative and a liberal in the class, which made it really interesting.
I really enjoyed his lectures. Admittedly, he had to dumb down a lot of his material for the level of students at Sacramento City College, but if you engage him outside of class, he's a very interesting and intelligent guy. I briefly worked on his city council campaign in 2003. There aren't many professors I'd have done that for.
THIS IS THE COOLIEST EASIEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN COLLEGE SO FAR. ITS EASY AND YOU ACTUALLY LEARN AND BECOME INTERESTED IN POLITICAL SCIENCE, I LEANRED A LOT FROM HIM EVEN THOUGH IT WAS EASY. HE ENGAGES THE CLASS AND HIS ASSIGNMENTS HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THINGS BETTER. VERY GREAT TEACHER I RECOMMEND HIM. I LIKED THE CLASS
If you attend class, engage in discussion, turn in your assignments, do well on the three quizzes and on the final, you will do well in the class overall. Professor Frank ensures your success by telling you from the beginning what to expect. He cares about the material he teaches, and will keep you interested during lecture.
Really cool guy...lot of energy and excitement..really passionate..doesnt take attendance...no tests...just 2 easy weekly assignments, 3 quizzes and a multiple choice finals...gives extra credit..TAKE HIM!!!!
he is a great guy and a great teacher. there are 10 writing assignments, 10 article analysis, 10 quizzes online, and three in class. there is also a final exam. as long as you attend class and particiapte you will be fine. if you are the type of student that hates speaking in class or being called on, take another professor. he will do that a lot.
One of the easiest honors class you'll ever take. Not much difference compared to his regular POLS 300 class. There's a 5 page paper but it's not that difficult. Passionate teacher who is a great lecturer. Love how he encourages everyone to do something in politics, definitely got me thinking. I'd recommend him!
I've taken three classes with Mr. Frank, and because of my first class with him I changed my major to Political Science. He is clear and interestng, he also offers extra credit.
Paul Frank is a great instructor. He's very passionate about the subject and students can tell he finds it very enjoyable. He didn't take attendance this semester, but said that he will begin next semester. As long as you pay attention and go to class (some things he says ends up on quizzes), do your weekly assignments, you'll be good.
Great teacher can provide you with opportunities in California politics and get you in touch with "movers and shakers". Cares greatly about the subject and homework is fairly simple taking up about 2hours a week for me. His midterm was very easy and he offers alot of extra credit throughout the semester.
Online course was terrible. Felt like four classes worth of information was being crammed in my face every week with the multiple lectures, hours of videos, & reading chapters as well as numerous articles. I'm disappointed because I was really interested coming in & didn't learn much. My friends take him in class & love him so maybe just no online?
By far one of the easiest honor classes. If the regular 301 is taken, definitely consider 481. The professor is highly motivated, and tries his best to teach and engage the students. Easily an A, if not B for those who slack a little.
Professor frank is awesome, he interacts with you and gets you involved. That really helps for easier learning. He doesnt try to push his beleifs on you, he wants you to deci for yourself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Online quizzes, weekly article analysis and writing assignments. The class isn't too hard. He makes politics interesting and offers extra credit. Be sure to do ALL your article analysis and writing assignments;the missed points WILL affect your grade.Attendance is not mandatory but you will miss vital info that is on the quizzes.
Dude loves his job, which makes it bearable. But if you arent interested in the subject: doesnt take attendance, lectures are all online, quizzes? online. three in class. easy if you read the book. final is mult choice very easy. gives a lot of E/C opprt. honestly it is very difficult to fail this class. Went every three weeks, did just fine.
Best Professor I have taken at SCC. Makes class enjoyable and is fairly easy and class is very understandable. I suggest taken his classes.
Professor Frank requires a perfect balance in requiring enough workload to maximize learning, yet not too much where its overwhelming and takes away from the learning experience. He is extremely attentive to his students, and is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. A+ Professor, I plan to take another class with him next semester.
FANTASTIC TEACHER. I came into this class hating politics & having no intention of learning it, just trying to get it done with... however, if you go to class, attendance not mandatory, it will be very rewarding. I learned a ton and his lectures are interesting and welcoming. Easy HW, easy tests. He's a perfect example of what a teacher should be.
very nice professor and an easy A if you do all of you work. i kinda slacked off that's why i got a B in his class. highly recommend this professor to everyone. He is very passionate about his job!
He was the most interesting teacher I've ever had. He made every lesson so clear and easy to understand. Coming from someone who has no interest in politics, he definitely made it interesting and fun. He's so funny! Easy A if you do all the work. And the work is manageable. Not too hard. :) HIGHLY recommend him.
Professor Frank is an amazing professor. The class isn't super easy but it isn't super difficult either. I strongly reccomend his class. As long as you complete assignments, attend class, and take good notes... youre good :)
Complete online assignments and quizzes. He is a great professor, I love how enthusiastic he is about teaching government and helping his students.
Super easy prof. make sure to complete everything possible. the article analysis are super boring but easy points all the way. the quizzes are from test banks from the books. so if you have the book you should be fine. BEST PROF at SCC hands down
must attend class it will help you at the end with 25 extra point which just might boost that grade into the next bracket. the quizzes are online straight from the text book. his test are fairly easy make sure to attend class the day before, he does a jeopardy still practice and gives majority of the answers, write them down and study.
This professor is NOT for anyone taking 10 or more units. He assigns two written assignments based on online articles per week, 1 online quiz per week, and 1 chapter of reading per week. Class participation is a must. Too much work if you're also taking 10 other units for other classes. Take someone else, unless you're majoring in politics.
Clear and straightforward. Very routine oriented. Each week we had VERY small writing assignments that were VERY, VERY easy to complete. And his class was fun, too!
Break down of syllabus. Required weekly from you : Article assignment (more then 5 pages to read) 1 hour, written assignment 1 hour, reading a chapter (30 pages) 1 hour, studying 1 hour, quiz 1 hour, equals to 5 hours a week. For only 3 credits take something else. Frank tries to get you to buy a subscription to the Sacramento bee, it is not needed
If you take this class, make sure you put at least 2-4 hours on it per week. You will have to do 1 article, 1 writing assignment, and 1 quiz per week. It is a fair class.
I took International Relations online from Frank, so I don't know much about him on a one-on-one basis, but he was very communicative over email and answered questions pretty promptly. Textbook use was high and sometimes directions weren't clear, but the class was pretty easy in the long run.
I don't know why everyone is complaining about the two writing assignments. It's easy and he gives you full credit for doing it. Take notes everyday and he practically gives you the answers before the test day.
Quizzes/midterm/final are all open-book/open-note, and he gives you multiple attempts to take them. The rest of the grade is determined by WEEKLY writing assignments (sometimes up to 2 papers may be due within a week). Sub to a news outlet not req'd, just look online for articles. Lenient grader, lots of extra credit. Easy A.
Professor does not do role call, does not give credit for attending class. With more than 4 hours of work a week; I found class not worth the 3 credits. Extra credit requires you to attend meetings outside of school and you will have to go to at least 2 of them for maximum extra credit. Tests is not the professors; generated by the book instead.
Prof Frank's Polsci Intl. relations is an interesting class! He does have a weekly online textbook quiz (open notesbook) worth 10 pts each but you get 3 attempts at it. And also an article analysis (current event) due every week. Gives points for attending so show up and do your work, you'll be fine. Overall its a really good, educational class
Gives good lectures. Get ready to write weekly short essay papers and quizes online. Super easy A class if you just do the assignments on D2L. Easy in-class quizzes just come to reviews he gives answer to study for the next day quiz. Super easy class!! Got an A, didnt go to class everyday but did all the work and read the textbook. Take him!
I took Professor Frank's intro to gov't and he made Politics fun and understandable. He is a great teacher and replies to e-mails quickly, plus answers questions in a straight forward manner. He's almost always in a good mood and starts every class session by playing Jazz. My favorite prof, and taking him next year for Ca State politics.
He's funny & makes you actually want to come to class. There are alot of assignments in this class. At least one weekly. Sometimes two. if you miss too many you'll pay for it in the end. The grade you get is definitely the grade you earned. I hated politics until i took this class! you'll definitely learn in this class and appreciate politics more.
Professor Frank is very passionate about Political Science therefore he makes learning about it easy and funner. There are Writing assignments every week as well as Chapter quizzes all online. Straightforward + easy. Final is comprehensive with no study guide. Wish he had one though! I would highly recommend his class.
Paul frank is awesome. As long as you do your work every week and take your quizzes online you'll pass. Also, 3 in class quizzes and a final. Some people say it's a lot of work because you do have homework and quizzes every week that's due on a specified date. If I can work 32 hours a week and take 13 units at school and get a "B" it's possible.
Professor Frank has been one of the best professors I have had at SCC. He is passionate about what he teaches. He has increased my interest in Foreign Policy. Also, the assignments in the class are pretty easy and clear. Although he assigns an online textbook quiz, and a article analysis every week. Sometimes he assigns Writing Assignments.
Professor Frank was my first political science teacher and i highly recommend him for those students want to study political science, this class was just for filling out my General Ed but now i change my major from civil engineering to political science . he taught very clear and make you understand every single lecture by his power point slides.
Professor Frank is the kindest man in the world. He will help you out tremendously. honestly i payed attention 10% of the time while he went on a tangent on current events that take up 50 minutes of the class and goes over 1 or 2 slides of the chapter . Just do his homework and read the chapters and you should be fine(i didn't read the text book)
Amazing teacher. Nearly had me convinced I should run for president after taking government with him. Lecture slides are all on D2L but I enjoyed the lectures. This guys a political comedian.
Never really bothered with politics. But it was this class or repeating history with a teacher I already knew was bad. Ended the class, glad not only to have taken the class but to have met the teacher. Can't endorse Professor Frank enough. He is both charismatic and knowledgable. The full package. Take him.
One of the amazing professors that I have met, Professor Paul Frank. Professor Frank makes learning very fun during his class session. Moreover, he is very inspirational and hilarious. I recommend those who is looking for a Political Science major to take Professor Frank. You will not regret it.
Amazing teacher he really cares about his students. No tests, just online quizzes. There is an article analysis every week and sometimes a writing assignment but doable. the midterm and final are online.
TAKE HIS INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SUMMER CLASS! Easy A, barely put any effort because all the answers are online, didn't learn much. 10 weekly article analysis as "homework" with 10 quizzes. No midterm or essays, 80 question final at the end. No face to face meetup besides on campus orientation. Do not buy Coursemate or textbook. Harder in fallsprg
He gives full credit if you do your work like he says. The quizzes and tests were pretty easy.
Prof. Frank is probably the best professor I have had at SCC. He REALLY wants his students to succeed and is always there to help you. I took his online course and received an 'A'. I recommend him to everyone- such an easy A... He really cares about his students. TAKE THIS CLASS!
he is Awsome..
Hands down, Professor Frank is the best professor I've had at SCC. Enough said.
one of the best professors which i had...
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY HE HAS A B?! HE'S def an A+ professor ! I would take his class again. Every Monday there is an article analysis due online. Every Wednesday there is a writing assignment due. DONT WORRY ! THIS IS VERY EASY HW. i usually do it an hour before its due. SUPER EASY. 3 quizzes (10 questions). No midterm. 80 question Final Exam
POLS310 or International Relations is seriously the easiest online class you can ever take. You submit weekly article analysis' and writing assignments and take weekly quizzes. They are straight out of quizlet, just google the question and the whole test pops up. I only missed 4 points out 200 something points? Easiest A you could imagine.
A lot of in-class quiz and final exam questions came from lectures. Final exam had text book material questions, but the text book wasn't needed for any assignments. Lectures were entertaining and worth attending, but there was no participation grade. Highly recommend starting the extra credit packet ASAP. Went into the final with an A, left a B+
He's a great professor. I took his online class and he's informative to his online students.
Take his class!
Paul Frank is amazing! Just make sure to complete your homework every week.
I love Prof Frank! He helped me out w/way more than a councilor on my major. He expects a lot of class participation so be ready to talk about what you read in the textbook and on local, state, or foreign politics for whatever class you take. had him 3 semesters. Also welcomes exchange students into home for thanksgiving if lonely.
Take his class ! Also if you are in the wait list you will most likely get in. Don't skip his classes and you will pass
I hated politics and he made me like it. Awesome teacher especially to people who are new to politics.
Easiest A I've ever gotten. He does not take attendance since he trust his honors students and all you have to do is do the article analyzes and writing assignments before they are do and you are set my friend. Also quizzes, midterm, and finals are all online. His lectures are interesting and he keeps you awake which is pretty cool.
Take this class if you want a great chance of getting an A, whether for a political science major or for a general education requirement. Although lecture can be boring, he makes many attempts to engage the classroom. He utilizes lots of media formats outside of a slide show. Answers are a 'gimme' for almost all assignments. Repetitive but easy hw.
Really cool guy and the class is really interesting and laid back. You need to REALLY know everything on the study guide and you'll be fine from there because the homework is pretty straightfoward.
This man here made me more interested in politics, before taking him, I hated politics and feared the class. Funny guy and his lectures are always interesting and keeps the class engaged 90% of the time. STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE! He is the most inspirational prof I have ever had at SCC. He really does want the best for his students.
Take this class if you can! So passionate about politics and made me learn so much. There is homework assignments every week & online quizzes that are easy if you read the book! EASY A. Would take him again! Loved his class!
Great teacher amazing class highly recommended, he not only teaches and helps your learn he gives you everything you need to pass his class, weekly homework assignments are incredibly easy
Prof. Frank is cool. He makes you interested in Politics & debates could get HEATED sometimes. Slides and lectures could be boring sometimes. But, overall, he gets the student's attention and make political science interesting. Oh DON'T FORGET TO PICK UP YOUR NEWS PAPER ARTICLE! Prepare for your quizzes and read TXTBK you will talk about it!!
I took his 6 week online class this summer, which consisted of 10 quizzes from the readings assigned per block. Along with 10 article analysis papers single spaced, 1 page, half a page on an article he assigns and the other on the news from newspapers. A final exam of 80 questions, 2 hrs to do it. It was an easy class, just do the work.
Prof. Frank is great! He is hilarious and the in-class discussions are actually pretty fun and interesting. He is really helpful outside of the class too. It's obvious that he really cares about his students. Just stay consistent with the homework! I definitely recommend him.
This class was so easy, despite the seemingly large amount of work. 10 writing assignments, 15 article analyses, 10 online quizzes, and 3 online quizzes, all of which you're allowed to make up if you miss. His lectures are fantastic. He's so passionate about political science. He gives a ton of extra credit, too! I'm taking him again next semester.
Extremely easy class if you complete all of the assignments. Tests and quizzes are straight out of the book. Only two tests, 10 ten question quizzes. 1-2 one page papers a week though. Overall an interesting class. If you complete everything you will get an A.
I hated political science prior & now am minoring in it. He is extremely passionate about it, explains everything in a hysterical way, this class was never a bore. 10 writing assignments(super easy) 10 article analysis (find something online 2 paragraphs about it and summarize article given) 3inclass quizzes(gives answers in lecture) and 10 online.
Took 310 online and it was not hard but I wanted more. There was no discussion which was one less thing to do but I would have loved to discuss with people about the articles. All the assignments were easy just busy work kind of. He gives so many chances for quizzes/tests. Also there were so many videos many were over an hour so I didn't watch them
Professor Frank and his classes are so fun! He teached politics so good that you wanna know more. He asks you to talk about your opinions in the class and participate. He has online quizez and assignments every week. It is as easy A if you attend the last class before the final when he reviews the material because there gonna be on the final!
Fun easy class. An article analysis every week, a few writing assignments that are super easy, online quizzes every week also super easy. Take him you won't regret it.
I took his class online. Tried to read the textbook and watch the videos but they were all so boring to me so I couldn't get through them. Lots of one-page papers to write and a short quiz most every week. He's an easy grader and gives you lots of chances on the tests.
Interesting class! I wasn't into Politics but b/c of him, I do now! There are online quizzes every week, 1 article assignment every week & 1 writing assignments almost every week. (1 page for all) BUT THEY ARE EASY! Don't get discourage! He's not a tough grader. He loves when the students participate and share their opinion. Great Professor!
Professor Frank is great, political science can be dry and boring but he made it very interesting, so I totally recommend him.
Nice in emails, but hated the class! Material was dry, outdated, and excessive. Like, 1 chapter, 50 minutes of an old guy talking at a podium, 2 15 page articles, 1-2 papers and a quiz, weekly. Easy grader, but I was upset at how much time I had to waste on irrelevant content (think, 2 hours of reading about terrorism, written before 9-11). Awful.
I took this online class over the summer and it was the easiest class eber. I took the 6 week course. He has all the homework already posted and i finished it all within three weeks. two chapters a week tests at the end of each chapter and section quizzes. two article outlines each week as well. he gave a TON of extra credit opportunities.
Easiest professor I've ever taken. He' super funny and is so clearly passionate about political science. He hasn't updated his online stuff like articles/quizzes for a few years, though, so that was a little irritating, but it was still a great class. His study guides for midterms/finals literally includes all the test questions verbatim.
I took POLS 481 honors and it was by far, the easiest course I've taken in college till date. Professor Frank really knows how to engage the class. Lectures can sometimes be boring based on the weekly topic, but they are normally intriguing. He is super helpful and an easy grader. The midterm is online and you have 3 tries to get a good score!
I took POLS 481 honors and it was by far, the easiest course I've taken in college till date. Professor Frank really knows how to engage the class. The weekly homework is beyond easy and doesn't take much time. He is super helpful and an easy grader. The midterm is online and you have 3 tries to get a good score!
I love Paul Frank, he was a great prof that I ever had, love his class, homework, and quizzes. Homework you just read the book and answer questions on CANVAS. Quizzes were so easy if you go to class everyday and took good note, you will be fine. His final was easy because 25 questions came form Quizzes, and other questions then you had to study.
Paul Frank is the best. He loves when students participate in discussions, so he picks on students who tend to be quiet to answer simple questions, which is not bad at all considering I never speak up in class! He's the most merciful proffesor ever on quizzes and tests(literally gives you the answers the class before the quiz. Just show up!)
Great professor. Lots of extra credit opportunities and keeps the class interesting.
Best professor at Sacramento City College. No Doubt
I took International Relations online and it was surprisingly easy. Online textbook quizzes and weekly article analyses make up the grade. The article analyses are one single spaced page per week, which gets boring after a while, but no tests is a plus. Frank was usually good at replying to email. Easy A if you do the work.
I've taken Professor Frank for POLS 310 and POLS 301 and he's the best poli sci professor. Recently he started using pearson revel so there's a lot of reading for the online class and a few quizzes. It's a lot of work but it isn't difficult work. Article analysis every week, one page single spaced really easy to do.
Really Easy! The Revel assignment was kind of annoying, but u don't have to read evrythng, answers to quizzes are on quizlet & he doesn't test you on the revel readings. Wants people to participate in class. 3 quizzes, 1 final, Article analysis every week and a lot of EC. gives answers to all quizzes the class before a quiz, so come to those classes
Paul Frank is a really nice teacher. His class isn't hard at all and he teaches the subject very well. You could tell he's passionate about Politics. There are a couple quizzes and you have to write an article analysis every week but it's pretty easy!
He's an amazing professor. Considerate and convenient. Would definitely take again.
the lectures are fun and interesting but he can sometimes belabor the point. he's funny and explains things well and offers a lot of extra credit through class participation. the homework is weekly and can be time consuming but is really easy(about 1 hour of homework a week).
Has some time consuming assignments but lets you know what his expectations are. Incredibly passionate and was never bored in his class, even though politics isn't my favorite subject. Offers extra credit frequently and genuinely wants his students to do well!
OMGGGGG, I love him! he is the definition of a good professor! makes the class interesting, teaches you a lot! very rewarding. it is not easy, though. you gotta work!
I highly recommend his classes. I took him for Pols 310 and got an easy A.
super engaging and makes class fun. he tells you exactly whats going to be on the test and the answers beforehand. as long as you keep up with the readings online and assignments its a very easy A!
This is a prof who thinks he's the only one who matters, expects you to rearrange your life for him. The lectures are his ego performing for a captive audience. He asks questions, interrupts the answers. The tests are extremely hard, covering material he didn't get to in class, and doesn't bother to update to correct dates on canvas.
Great teacher.
Very nice and caring professor. Easy assignments, tests, and final.
One of the best teachers I had in college hands down! Makes you actually want to attend lecture and is very energetic and caring. Three quizzes and one final. The final is the same as study guide, just study!
I took his online class and got an A. Theres a weekly online textbook reading, quiz, and one-page paper. You get three attempts for each quiz question so you can easily get most of the points for that week. All the assignments are really straight forward and easy to do if you read. He also offers extra credit. I 10/10 recommend!!!
easiest class ever. extra credit is offered. Passed this class with a 108%.
This class was pretty easy and I did learn a lot but it felt very one sided. Everything was from the textbook or from news articles and there were no lectures. He stopped giving feedback on the weekly writing assignment in the middle of the semester. Good choice if you really like online classes.
I was nervous to take this class at first but the way its structured is great. As long as you put in the work youll be golden. I really enjoy the class. He is a fast grader so you always know your grade.
Took him for the summer and although it was very heavy lecture based, he tells us important points of general politics. He made a three and a half hour go by quick. Quizzes and tests are not heavily based on lecture, but the answers can be found online. He doesn't encourage participation, he demands it which I dislike about him because I am shy.
Overall a great professor. For the online version of the class, each week you have a 1 page paper on international relations news. For someone like me that had no interest in the topic before this class, as long as you show that you cared about the topic and put effort in you'll do well. Weekly quiz on the (required purchase) Pearson Revel website.
Amazing Proffesor, learned so much from him he makes Politics interesting and tries his best to get you involved with the community, attendance is not mandatory but you should attend to all the classes because he reviews test questions all the time
I took the 6 wk online class. Super easy. I love Poli Sci- its not my major though. The readings were interesting. The quizzes were easy. Its a great class and the professor provides feedback which is really nice. Definitely recommend taking this class.
I took Frank in the Fall for Pols 301 and had read the ratings on him & they were not wrong. He requires an online textbook that must be read weekly and assigns an article analysis because he wants students to participate in class discussions. He is funny and makes the class fun, you can tell that he is passionate about making politics engaging.
You can tell he is super passionate and wants everyone to participate in politics. Personally to me it was a lot of reading and homework. He does offer extra credit and I could have had an A if I did it since I didn't do some hw. He went through his lectures very slowly so sometimes it felt more productive if I stayed home and read the PowerPoints.
This is one of the best professors Ive ever had. He is so interactive and compassionate not only about the material but about students. He truly wants everyone to pass and learn and gives every opportunity you could imagine to do so.
I was 6 months pregnant when the fall semester began, Professor Frank worked with me to take my final a week early due to my due date being a week before our final. His lectures were so interesting & he always incorporated the students, he answered questions clearly, Gr8 prof. 10/10 cares about his students, easy A if you pay enough attention.
Personally, although his class was not hard and is easy as long as you study and pay attention, I do believe he kind of dumbs students down. Whenever a question was posed or I took it upon myself to email him I always received sarcastic attitude back and he's not afraid to do it in class. Prepare, he will call on you in class to share articles etc.
Your grade is based on the Pearson assignments, weekly article analyses, and about three discussions. That being said, I learned absolutely nothing from this class. If you want an easy A then this is the class, but if you want to come out of the class having learned something then look somewhere else.
Good Professor ! Can easily pass the class and even offers extra credit.
Professor Frank is an amazing teacher. Even through out this whole pandemic, he was accessible and made the grading clear. When we had classes, he would make lectures fun and engaging. If you're looking for a truly caring and engaging teacher Professor Frank is the one.
Great teacher but gives out way too much homework. Everything is in the online textbook including 90% of the homework assignments and quizzes. Be prepared to read the news everyday and speak about what you learned in the lectures. Online transition was easy since all the work was already online so don't worry about difficult transitions.
Good professor and he is a pretty easy grader. The class is an easy A if you just do all of the work assigned. He really cares about his students and he even bought the whole class drinks at the campus cafe after the review game for the midterm. The only reason I give a 4 is that when the class went online he stopped producing any original content.
I'm very glad I took this course over the summer. Professor Frank is very organized and responds quickly. One may say that the weekly load is a lot, but come on- you're taking an accelerated summer class. Even then, it's not a lot of work; don't procrastinate. I learned a lot in this class- both real word and textbook information.
i am so glad i took this summer course! this was my first real college class and prof frank made it so easy, engaging, and interesting. he was very accessible and accommodating with any questions, the class was very organized, and the grading was set with lots of points available. really great :)
I've never interacted with him during office hours or through email, but I know he's very passionate about this subject. His lectures are amazing. I thought I was going to hate this class, but I ended up enjoying it very much. There is quite a bit of homework, but it's easy work. Just do your best, and you'll get a good grade.
Super caring!!! I took him for two classes this semester and they were the ones I was least stressed about. Paul Frank was one of the few things that lowered my stress this semester, take him if you can!
The course was easy and straightforward. Weekly article analysis, DB's, and Pearson assignments. He is rather rude when communicating back and forth. Heaven forbid you had a question about the course, he seems to expect one to know everything, even though his syllabus wasn't clear. Overall, if you put in minimal effort, you'll pass. No final.
Good professor. Weekly Pearson assignments & article analysis (1 pg). discussion posts biweekly. The class is fairly simple if you just do the Pearson work, ( there's quizzes and a mini writing section in Pearson for each module). Just do the work and you'll pass. He allows one make up article analysis & some extra credit.
If you want to take an easy class with a great prof, then take this class. Each week, you will do a 1 page paper about a current event and reading. Everything is due at 10:30 am on Monday. He gives 100 points worth of credit. It's literally impossible to fail or get a C in his class. Also, his class is educational and u will learn a lot.
Do not regret taking his class. You do have to write a 2 page paper like every week and be on it when it comes to doing Pearson assignments but other than that you are good! He is quite straight to the point with assignments ! Passed with a easy A but of course I made sure to turn in assignments by due date!
Be glad it's covid era instead of in-person. If only you knew & don't believe every praise of him you read on here.
I took this class during the summer 6-week session. The content wasnt very hard and there wasnt much work, so definitely would recommend. Professor Frank is approachable. Also, NO EXAMS!
his class is very engaging, even for an asynchronous class. Biweekly discussion boards that encourage debates between students, great funny lecture videos that help understand the topics better, easy and fun assignments. The majority of work is done on Pearson Revel, which is easy to use. I only wish I could have taken this class in person.
Great Professor! Weekly pearson assignments with biweekly discussion posts. One page article analysis due every week. Just pay attention to his weekly lectures and pearson assignments and earn yourself an A. Overall definitely recommend to take this professor.
Very hands-off prof. Weekly assignments on Pearson Revel (you can copy all the answers from quizlet). Weekly papers of atleast 1 page on a piece of current international news and its relation to the current class topic. Rinse, repeat for 14 weeks. The work felt very tedious, boring, and repetitive. Offers a lot of extra credit too. Easy A.
I took 3 different classes from him this semester and they were basically all the same. His class is very boring and he is very hands-off, however, it is a very easy A. Pearson Revel reading & quizzes every week and an article analysis. This was the case for all three classes that I took from him. A solid choice if you just want to pass.
If you're looking for a straightforward POLS professor, Paul Frank is your guy. Took him for POLS 304 asynchronous online. Each week you do an article analysis, Shared Writing and Quiz assignment in the interactive Revel textbook, and have discussion boards every so often. Got an A on every assignment. 1 midterm and 1 final. Pretty easy overall
Throughout the whole term, you do the same things every week: read the Pearson textbook, take the mini quizzes after each section and the shared writing assignment as well as the chapter quiz, and the article analysis. He also has tests on his lecture videos, but if you do the study guides for them, it's pretty easy. I really enjoyed this class.
I took his asyn class this spring, as my sem is coming to an end I couldn't wait to rate prof. frank! I would highly recommend taking him if you can. There wasn't that much work to do, just an article analysis and Pearson revel due every Mon 10:30am, and a couple db's but not too bad. I procrastinate a lot and manage to still turn in everything lol
You'll have weekly reading and quizzes using the Revel textbook and 1 article analysis assignment every week, and both are due on Friday. He also has a list of extra credits you can do throughout the semester, which is submitted on the last week of the semester. Email reply may be slow, although I thought he was still a helpful professor.
Took in Spring '22 online. There's 15 article analyses (write one-paged papers responding to a newspaper & article), 5 discussions, 3 lecture quizzes, 15 revel chapters (quiz & readings), and a multiple-choice final. Professor is extremely hands off, assignments are easy, and he even has extra-credit assignments. Easiest class ever hands down!
No mid-term. 3-4 lecture quizzes based on his weekly lecture slideshows which will be what your Final exam will quiz you on. Weekly 1 page essays due as well as online work but it's not bad once you find a rhythm
Really great professor for POLS310. Revel book used is a wealth of knowledge and only one article assignment and one discussion post per week + all online. Very accommodating if you communicate, plenty of extra credit offered due by end of semester. Took during summer, 3 chapters a week and still got 107% overall.
Honestly if you just literally follow his instructions you will get an A. The homework is moderate but answers are easy to find. You will pass if you put in effort.
Professor Paul Frank was a really amazing professor. He made lectures really interesting, Class is easy consisting of revel chapters/quizzes and article analysis every week, with discussion posts here and there. His quizzes are easy just do the study guide! Offers a lot of extra credit.
I wish I could have Professor Frank again, he was very funny. The class was easy and his work was straightforward. I have always not loved social science classes, but this class was extremely engaging and interesting! Class time flew by! Take him!!
Good lectures that have a lot of info that will be on final. Weekly article analyses and textbook readings that will catch up with you if you fall behind. Also changed the due dates for half the assignments right at the end of the year so you could do them for full credit
I enjoyed the class. Easy to follow. Good information. Work is fair and easy to understand.
Very straightforward class, weekly news article analyses, textbook chapters and mini quizzes, occasional discussion. Midterm and final multiple choice exam are worth a lot of points but you have two attempts and he provides study guides that have most of the same questions. Overall nice professor with very clear grading criteria.
I highly recommend his California political class. It is really fun and very knowledgable. You may feel overwhelmed with the amount of reading at first, but it's very knowledgable and highly recommend for California residents. I also think that he has a good syllabus structured for the class. It's perfectly well built as a routine and he is great.
He picks on you a little in class to get the class to participate but overall a great professor. Work is quite easy and he is understanding when needing more time! Definitely take, I recommend.
There are no Zoom meetings required. There is an article analysis, a person revel, and a discussion board each week. There is a final, which is pretty much the same as the quizzes and he will also provide you with a sample of the final, which is pretty much the same as the final but not 100%. He grades the assignment after the due dates.
Took this class online and was the least stressful of my load. The only thing you have to purchase for the class is a REVEL subscription where most of the class assignments are located. Few test and overall a chill class.
Took two classes with him, Everyone drops because the way he describes his class makes it sound harder then it actually is. It may sound like a lot of reading, just skim. Lots of *help* online...lol. For the second class I took, California Politics, you had the option to take the test twice. The basic GE class for American gov I don't remember that
Awesome professor with a well organized class. I took his class online but he posts his in person lectures online for you to get the "in class" experience. Most of the homework and quizzes are on Pearson Revel. Weekly writings worth 50 points each but they are easy. Awesome professor you won't be disappointed
Lots of reading! You need to be on time with your assignments and complete the article analysis exactly as he assigns it. No big papers or tests but lots of quizzes with each of the text book chapters. Discussions comments do not need to be long or in depth, you just need to reply and be on topic and show you have some understanding of of question.
Professor Frank is very passionate about his work, you can really tell he cares about his students being successful. Not too many assignments besides the weekly textbook reading, quizzes, and discussion boards. There were weekly article analysis assessments that were pretty simple and fun to complete. Overall love his enthusiasm, great professor!
I have taken all three of the courses Professor Frank offers and I absolutely loved all of them. His assignments are consistent every week so its easy to get into a routine. He is a passionate lecturer which makes coming to class engaging compared to other professors at SCC. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him I highly recommend him.
Prof. Frank absolutely loves teaching political science which in turn makes his classes informative and enjoyable! His assignments are offered through Pearson Revel and are consistent. He provides exam review guides that are useful and offers a lot of extra credit! His class offers room to grow intellectually. Can be hard to reach him via email.
likeable professor but he is not the most tech savvy! He uploads video lectures from his in person classes and he is a clear and enjoyable lecturer but sadly it does not translate to his online classes. Going through his Canvas page is like sifting through 3 million loose-leaf papers and all the pdfs instructions are outdated
Took 301 & 310, and the structure was exactly the same. Used Pearson Revel for both, which is basically just free points. I'd suggest taking 310 over the summer, since it's a 6 week course but honestly it's one of the lightest classes I've taken. For both 310 and 301, he assigns quick one-page papers on articles each week that are pretty easy.
Professor Frank is actually an amazing professor when it comes to political science. I definitely enjoyed his class. Weekly assignments (nothing big or bad I promise) and he has lecture quizzes so make sure you're paying attention. Very grateful to have professor Frank as my professor for this course.
Not a horrible workload at all. 1 article alanysis a week as well as reading, a few pop quizzes and a class discussion here and there. Not bad at all. Material is pretty good, easy to memorize and pass quizzes and test. Def recommend this professor.
This class was alright. I had to read a newspaper article and write a one page-ish paper on it connecting it to the material in the class every week. On top of that, participation in class was required as well. The actual quizzes and exams were fairly easy if you attended lecture.
This class was not that bad each week you have to read an article and pretty much write one page summary. Another thing that's do each week is the "Pearson Revel" you have to pay for it and pretty much there is reading and quizzes that you have to take it was easy.
Professor Frank is very passionate about political science and gives enjoyable lectures. There is an article analysis each week and the occasional lecture quiz. There is a digital textbook with weekly quizzes that you have to pay for. Very enjoyable class and I learned a lot. Take him!
He's AWESOME! Kind of heavy (online) work load but SUPER easy. Lectures are exciting & he makes learning easy and fun! Engages with students a lot & makes you laugh. I was late almost every day and still got an A. He REALLY wants you to go to his office hours!!! You will learn a lot in this class about politics and about himself. 10/10 great guy!
Great professor! He cares about his students and really want each of the to do there best and get good grades. Would definitely recommend him.
His class is A LOT, especially if you are taking multiple classes. Lots of reading, some homework, lots of quizzes. However, I will say, if you put in the effort and do what you're supposed to it's an easy class to pass. He uses Pearson Revel, which I will say made it very easy to make notes/highlight in the textbook as well as make flash cards.
While attendance is mandatory most of the things he grades are online so if you don't go to class it won't effect your grade. Pretty chill teacher.
I was afraid that POLS would turn out to be such a stressful and biased class. The textbook is very biased, but the professor was willing to read ANY worldview. I learned so much about politics from this course, things I never knew before about our government. Weekly page of writing, and readings + quizzes via Pearson Revel. EASY!!!
Very easy class. Work every week is very consistent. You pick a news article and relate it back to the weekly article assigned every week. Homework is on Revel and you have to pay for. Assignments on Revel are easy and you just have to get through the chapter every week for homework. There's tests and quizzes on Revel but they're multiple choice.
Provides a detailed syllabus at the start of the course that outlines all assignments with due dates. Uses Pearson Revel online textbook for reading, quizzes, and shared writing assignments (look for his discount code in his welcome to course materials). Requires occasional discussion boards, weekly 1-page papers, and lecture quizzes. Good class.
This was one of my favorite online classes I have taken at SCC. I enjoyed this class, lots of reading but not too much writing. Article Analysis papers are due every week (this was a summer course), the papers are not difficult as he provided a guide for students to know what should be included in the analysis and what he looks for. Highly recommen
Very manageable and easy class. Prof. Frank is very passionate about political science. Work each week is consistent with one article analysis, quizzes & shared writing assignments through the Pearson Revel textbook, occasional lecture quizzes, and discussion boards. Extra credit opportunities are offered throughout the semester. Highly recommend!
A professor that makes college memorable. Speaks passionately about subjects and makes you want to learn. Every week there is an article analysis(not difficult) and reading/quizzes. Lectures are easy to follow & he provides important comments so show up or watch the lectures. Take notes. You are given many resources and opportunities to succeed.
great professor, expect for his submission time 90% of his assignments are not due at 11:59pm so be aware of that, gives you chances to make up assignments at the end of the semester
Amazing class and professor. Super lenient with grading. As long as you tried, he will give you an A. His lectures are engaging and he explains things in a way that makes sense. Text reading isn't bad, just long sometimes. Textbook is free online. Highly recommend!
From taking Government and Politics from Frank's lecture, I learned a lot regarding the Politics in the United States of America as well as the proper requirements to become a president. Additionally, I love his lectures because he explains into detail on each politics topic, for example the two-party system. Lastly, I highly recommend his class.
After taking Government and Politics, I learned a lot about America and how politics works strategically from professor, Frank. His lectures are interactive, interesting, and detailed on each and every topic from him. Coming to the actual assignments, the assignment workload is decent and not too excessive, but it's a quiz every week.
Very easily class. Nice professor. He published the final a few weeks before the semester ended so you can finish the class earlier. Do your work on time, you'll get an A.
Super easy, Professor! Only took maybe 2-3 hours of work per week. The only thing is he barely accepts late work, so get your work done on time every week, and you should get an A. There is also a hundred-point extra credit packet to complete by the end of the term.
The rest of the rates speak for themselves. This is my second class with Mr. Frank and he is amazing. Super chill and respects you if you respect him. 2-3 assignments due a week including some reading but nothing crazy. Posts amazing internship opportunities and events to go to. Cares for his students deeply.
Easy class just do your homework and quiz before 10:30 and you will be fine. Great professor and he responded to email quickly
This was my first class as a political science major and I feel like it's sending me in the direction to continue on this path with my future academic. Professor Frank is a great professor and his lectures are entertaining and keep you attentive, he records the lectures which is nice if you're unable to make it to class. 10/10 would recommend.
This is the second time I've taken a class with Frank, and I honestly can't recommend him enough! One article analysis due weekly, one quiz, and occasional discussion posts. He provides extra credit, and responds quickly! Easy class and great professor. 10/10 reccomend.
Love him so much, very awesome, very engaging, and very helpful
The class was pretty easy, but the material did feel a little lazy if I'm being honest. It's clear the professor cares about politics, but a lot of the assignments didn't seem like there was much effort put into it from the professor's side. If you want a somewhat informative class that's easy to pass, then I would recommend taking this course.
Expectations and outlines are clear from day one. Read textbook, take quiz, and complete the article assignment that are all due before lecture each week. There are discussion boards that will occasionally pop up throughout the semester. Attend lectures to stay caught up and use the study guides for the midterm and final. 100 point EC, if needed.
