Paul is really nice, but is not clear about what he means all of the time and can't explain it in other ways, which is frustrating. He's easy to get along with though and always offers help if you need it. His tests suck because they are multiple choice and worth like %5 per question.
I disagree with the previous review. Dr. Frazey was one of the clearest professors I've had (and I do have a degree prior). I felt confident w/ chemistry and the tests were very relevant but not easy. You have to study; it is college after all. He is very available for help during office hours and likes to help people understand.
One of the least prepared teachers I've ever had. Lecture was an absolute joke as he struggled through deciding how he wanted to teach it. I was available a lot, but there was still the overwhelming feeling that he just didnt care.
Sometimes unorganized but very helpful. Easy homework and participation points, STUDY, STUDY and practice the problems for the tests!
very nice as well as understanding. overall, I enjoyed taking his class. I felt tests did not refect what was learned, but overall great!
Paul Frazey is my hero! I really was not looking forward to taking Chemistry, but I enjoyed his class alot. If you do the HW he assigns, come to class..just staying on top of things you'll do well. Paul is really easy going and you can joke around with him. And hes nice to cute girls! And hes good lookin!
He is so easy and listening what the students ideas. It is good for international students
I was honestly not looking foward to chem, but this turned out to be my fav class. Really a down to earth easy going guy. Had lots of cool in class experiments to spice up the lectures. He connects many of the chemistry principles covered in class with "everyday life" examples which made it easier to remember. Show up and try and you will get a 'B'
Pretty cool teacher. I'm planning to take chem 122 from him also.
When I was at WCC I took Chem 121 from Frazey and didn't get a high enough grade to continue (C-). Now at a university, I wish I had done better in his class. Labs at WCC are taken far more seriously and that's a good thing! Lectures were pretty good and I would have learned the same about at WCC as I am getting here with far better lab time.
Paul's a great teacher! His lectures are structured and he presents tough material in a way that is fun for his students. He is also more than willing to stay after class and answer questions or clarify any problems you have.
Paul knows his stuff. The guy lives for chemistry and is really a cool guy. He is ALWAYS available for extra help. As long as you really care about your grade he will walk you through any help you need.
The BEST chemistry teacher you will ever find. Frazey is extremely helpful. He knows his subject well, and rarely messes up. He has excellent examples all the time and he is fun for a teacher. If you are thinking about taking a chemistry class, take Frazey, whatever time he has, even if it was 3 am in the morning (which doesnt happen ) He is great!
The most amazing teacher I've ever had, makes chemistry both fun and manageable. He challenges his students but is more than willing to help with excellent office hours and fair grading.
Great teacher!!! Very helpful and wants to see every student succeed. He makes complex concepts very simple to understand. Take his class!!!
Great prof.
Frazey is wonderful at helping students figure out their chemistry.I do not think I have ever met a teacher so willing2help outside or during class, this guy will help you with your chemistry.2 bad he also tries2act cool&say things like"dont study"&"dont worry"&"I dont like2 grade"&"whats up with the premed students",like were jerks?plays favorites.
One of the most willingly helpful teachers at WCC. His lectures are extremely easy to follow and hes always willing to set up time to meet outside of class if you can't make his office hours. Cheers to Frazey!
He was very helpful, and even through it was his first time teaching that course material, he made it easy and interesting to learn. He loves what he does and that makes the students motivated to come. Show up to class even if its not mandatory and you will do great. He is fun to talk to!
Think he is a good proffesor because he is straight forward and will never try to trick you on tests. Bassically if you come to class and follow along you will do fine.
Very good instructor, his teaching style makes the material easy to understand. However, BEWARE THE ONLINE HOMEWORK. Its a very stupid system, you get one shot at the answer, and if its not perfectly correct, 0%, regardless of whether you had the problem correct until the last step.
The best there is. Probably one of the coolest teacher I've ever had, also happens to have taught me a lot too. Tests serve their purpose. Keep up in the class and you'll do fine in them, quit trying and you'll fail. Looks like a dinosaur, but in a cute way.
Really great guy. He seems to care about all of his students, and you can tell that he loves what he teaches. And he's definitely not afraid to make corny jokes. But he's probably the coolest professor I've ever had. He made me want to major in Chemistry.
He's an excellent professor! He loves his subject and is great at teaching it! He shows a genuine interest in his students. The class material is not easy, but he is very approachable if you have any questions.
My goal in life is to be like him
Very helpful teacher of a very interesting and entertaining class.
Paul has a great personality and makes class fun and interesting. He is always willing to answer any questions or clarify any of the material. Great professor. Highly recommend.
Frazey is a G! He is EASILY the best professor I have ever had. I'm pretty sure he is also one of the smartest people I have ever met, and if he doesn't know something he will just say so. His class is a safe place to ask questions in and he always explains things in ways ANYONE can understand. He also goes waaaaay out of his way to help students!!
The best teacher i have ever had. Knows his stuff. He makes learning fun.
Paul was my favorite professor at WCC. I had him for the entire series. He's funny, helpful, willing to discuss anything science related, explains his material clearly, and is very forgiving when it comes to assignments. I'd recommend taking him to anyone. Dude's seriously amazing, and I'm sad he can't teach all of my classes.
Frazey is a smart and helpful teacher i have ever met. i recommedn that people need to take his class. He is so nice to every students.
The most awesome teacher Ive ever had. Chemistry was a bit of a struggle for me at first but after working with frazey after classes I got an A-. Took my whole series with him an he moves through about 4 sections a period, and has online homework that you have unlimited times to attempt. If you work hard and keep up, you will do good.
Frazey is just an awesome guy in general. Easily in the top three best profs I've ever had! He's always willing to answer questions and he really gets to know students. His tests are easy, but you really learn all the material very well. I definitely recommend Frazey, he's awesome!
He is the best instructor that I have seen on CHEM class. He will make everything essay to understand and he is also willing to help everyone to solve their problems. I hope I can learn a lot from his class, and I am also glad that I took his class!!!!
Paul is a personable guy and he is very interested in his field. His thrill for teaching the concepts will keep you engaged and interested even through the more dry concepts of chemistry. My only complaint is his lack of empathy when people misunderstand; he doesn't really let people down easy when they fail to grasp a concept, he shoots them down.
Paul is probably the best teacher I've had at WCC. I took the full year of General Chemistry with him and can honestly say that he's an awesome guy. Really funny in class/lab, and his exams are completely fair if you do the homework. You will not find a better Chemistry teacher than Paul. Take his class!
Frazey is very helpful whenever you have questions, especially when it comes down to understanding the labs. Most of the time if asked, he will stay after class to walk you through any hw problems you had difficulty on and he's very fair when it comes to deadlines. I would recommend taking the whole Gen Chem series with him.
Frazey was very reasonable with everything that he asked of the students. He was willing to move homework. Do NOT start the online homework the night before. The do the homework that is relevant to that days lecture and it will be a lot easier. Also, helpful after class. Ask questions! Frazey cares about how well his students do.
Paul is an awesome professor. He is great at explaining difficult concepts, multiple times and in different ways, to students. He is very patient and wants everyone to learn in his classes. He often extends due dates if he feels like he's behind on lectures or his students need more time. I plan on taking the whole chem series from him.
Frazey is one of my all-time favorite teachers. His lectures are informative, he ensures that everyone understands the concepts, he's hilarious, and extremely helpful. Homework is a good way to supplement class, and he usually takes specific homework questions and goes over them. I would highly recommend taking the whole Chem series with Frazey.
Paul Frazey is by far one of the best instructors I have ever had. Seriously fun guy, good, clear presentation of material, and he relates well with students. He will always be there to help you if you need it and his tests are more than fair. Excellent style, highly recommend.
Professor Frazey is very clear and easy to follow. He makes the class fun and enjoyable, and is very willing to help with things that you don't understand and need clarification on. Definitely taking him again!
Frazey is awesome! He thinks on our level. He presents counterintuitive content by suggesting why it would make sense to see it from an unexposed chemist's perspective with statements like "it makes sense in my mind" and then explaining how it actually is. He understands how students think and learn which makes his teaching extremely effective.
You will not find a better chemistry professor than Frazey. He knows his material so well but presents it at a basic level that everyone can grow to understand. I took the Chem series from him and he made me love Chemistry. He is extremely fair with assignments and exams! Chemistry isn't an easy subject but work hard and you will do well!!
I took 3 general chemistry courses with Professor Frazey for Running Start, when I was in high school. I'm now approaching graduation at the University of Washington in Biochemistry. I just wanted to come here and rate him as literally the best chemistry instructor I've ever had, and probably will ever have. All-around win. Team Frazey all the way.
Frazey spends time after class to help students better understand the material. He's always willing to help and answer questions. He is really perceptive and sensitive to students' needs. Though the material continues to get more complex, he stays calm and collected, ready to boost your confidence and help you with your homework. He's the best!
This is my third class with him. I got A in his Chem 161 and 162 class. He is pretty funny and answer all our questions precisely and clearly. All exams are multiple choice. Do the mastering chemistry and you will be fine. The most understanding instructor I have ever met.
Easily the best professor I've encountered in 4 different colleges, over 3 years. Great professor, makes lectures interesting, draws students in with questions, and interesting pertinent discussions. Labs are fun, not a grind. My opinion passing with 2 C- in 3 quarters. Encourages learning not just through teaching, and is always willing to help.
Frazey was an awesome professor! I had him for all three general chemistry and his lectures made me enjoy the classes! He was clear on what he was looking for on exams and was willing to answer any questions I had after class. I definitely recommend taking his classes
He isn't the best lecturer, but he tries. Meeting with him outside of class, he'll answer any question you have. Be aware that has a low monotoned voice. He's a tough grader on labs. His tests are always long, but all of the questions come from MasteringChem, so just remember how to solve those problems. He doesn't care if you turn labs/hw late.
The most inspiring, caring man I've met. He takes his students seriously and is encouraging to those who come from all kinds of chem backgrounds.
I really can't say enough about this guy. Frazey's one of the most caring instructors that you'll meet on this campus. He actually wants people to come talk to him when they're struggling w/ the material, and helps however he can. This class can be quick-paced and overwhelming at times, but he does a great job maintaining a supportive environment.
the best teacher i have ever had at WCC. Very understanding teacher and fatherly.
I seriously love his class. I wish I had to take more chem classes!! He makes the concepts easy to understand and is really supportive about your learning.
I really love the setup of this class. Absolutely will take again this class in the future!
He has no lecture, so all you do is leaning by youself. I am suggesting him for people who cannot study by themselves because there is literally no lecture. Questions in exam are all in masteringchemistry, but they are very long, about 5 sheets of paper.
I have the utmost respect for him. He is super accessible and works well with students and is extremely interesting to talk to outside of class on different chemistry subjects. I do want to point out he rarely lectures and uses group work. This is supposedly very effective for some people, but I personally struggled with it due to the way I learn
In class, you work in groups, no lecture. Homework is reading and notes from the textbook along with online Mastering Chemistry questions. This class may be confusing if you have a hard time understanding the textbook. Labs are manageable --sometimes easy, sometimes a little confusing, but Frazey is always willing to help! Overall Frazey is great!
The most important thing you can do in Frazey's class is go to him for help if you don't understand something! He doesn't do lectures, instead he has you learn in groups via worksheets. He'll help you work things out if you go to him after class, don't be afraid to let him know you're struggling. Tests aren't bad, but you need to study to do well
He focuses on worksheets and group projects with minimal lecture. Assigned readings are essential as you will need to be prepared to participate in class. His teaching style is metacognition heavy.
One of the best for sure. If you don't like group work, then don't take his class. He is very approachable, willing to help and explain things of you ask. Stays after class to work with students with homework and learning the material.
If you're like me and go to class to have things taught to you, avoid Frazey. He doesn't lecture at all, you teach yourself. Each class is spent fumbling through group worksheets which aren't great at explaining the material. However, it's not hard to get a good grade, as I had absolutely no clue what was going on the entire quarter and got an A-
He is a good prof but he does do group work only, he barely lectures and when he does he will only do it for 5 to 10 mins and apologizes for lecturing. Tests are fair but you do need to study well.
He does group work but as you long you show up in class and know how to do mastering Chem you will do fine on the test. Tests are basically mastering chem, very straight forward. He rarely lectures it's more like finding out the info yourself, but you can always talk to him outside of class he will answer all of your questions and help you.
Frazey is a very nice person and teacher. You will have to work in groups and come up with your own findings. Always verify your thinking with him to clear your doubts. He is always willing to go the extra step to help you succeed. Best of the best
What I liked about Frazey's class was that he didn't spit the answers out at you. The class was more focused around group activities and trying to figure out the material with your group members and then reviewing as a class. Frazey is super down to earth, inspiring, and I learned a lot.
Frazey is a really nice guy and a good teacher. His classes seem to be very based on reading the textbook and coming to class and participating in group work packets everyday. I thought his class was easy but I still learned quite a bit. If you don't like teaching yourself through a textbook a lot I wouldn't recommend taking this class.
Good professor, really care on students and homework is not so heavy... all you need it just focus in class.
Paul is a very nice man and is an overall easy grader. However, if reading and figuring out material on your own isn't your strong suit, then stay far away. My situation might have been different just because all classes are online, but he could have accommodated for different learning styles.
What I signed up for was not what I got out of the class. This professor was good at what he does and knows the material but doesnt lecture, at least for my quarter of online classes. I was reading from the textbook and teaching the material to myself. The HW is repetitive every day and gets old quickly.
Frazey laid out the whole schedule and stuck to it which was very nice. There were weekly quizzes about the material. He has things due at different times throughout the day so if you dont wake up before 11 am then you have to do the work the day before. But he also doesnt count two of your exam scores (out of 7) which was very helpful.
Mr. Frazery, is very good and helps you a lot in understanding the course from your summary of the logs, some of the test questions come from the assignments in mastering chemistry.
Frazy is an awesome professor who really cares about his students. He takes the time to make sure you understand the material.
The rating distribution speaks for itself, frazey is a 100% certified homie, take his class
Frazey is an awesome teacher who really cares about you and wants you to succeed in his class.
Would take his class again. Helpful in every aspect. Especially if you don't show up to class. He really just wants you to succeed. Chem labs were easy to follow. Provided a lot of easy to read and simple content to help reinforce learning. Homework load is super manageable and easy. Class structure is awesome for a hybrid class.
Haven't taken this class for almost a year now but I'm coming back just to recommend him again, thats how great frazey is, I wouldn't do this for any other professor
Professor Frazey is an amazing teacher! I had him for Chem 161 and it was so clear that he loved not only his job, but his students as well! You're graded primarly on your online exams, online homework, and in person labs. He also drops a lot of low scores. Our learning was collaborative written work in class, and then labs were done in pairs.
Mr. Frazey is an absolute beast; I changed my major to chemical engineering after taking his class. He is extremely knowledgeable with chemistry and it's very easy to see that he cares deeply about teaching chemistry. Chemistry isn't an easy subject to learn, but Mr. Frazey provides the tools and guidance needed to be a successful student.
Frazey has been my favorite instructor so far at WCC. The homework site ran by Pearson sucks, but everything else is amazing. He clearly cares deeply about chemistry and teaching it, and is always available to help. Overall, an 11/10 professor, I could not recommend more that you take his class.
Paul is the goat. He has 8 online quizzes and dropped the lowest score. Definitely take him if you can
Just an absolute gem. Explains things in a way that doesn't make your feel bad for not getting it, inclusive, understanding, funny, great labs, just a super human. Makes a topic that has been pretty exclusive to white dudes feel like it really is for everyone, AND I left feeling like I really understood. Challenging material, but with lots of help.
Frazey is one of the best instructors I've ever had. Very committed to equity in STEM, is funny, humble, kind, and super caring. He gives students space to work through things in groups with his constant support. If he taught more classes, I would have taken all of them.
Frazey was very helpful and understanding. His class was fun and challenging. He didn't use the standard lecture format for teaching; would instead have you work in a group setting and would help as needed. You must read the textbook to pass. Labs were awesome and extremely interesting. Plan to work hard and learn a lot.
My only gripe with Frazey is that he doesn't lecture. Other than that, he's great at explaining things when you ask him to. He's fun and super nice, and his workload is pretty manageable. All exams are online and multiple choice.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED FRAZEY. He was by far one of my favorite professors I have ever had. He is extremely funny and obviously cares for his students. He doesn't give lectures or much instruction but if you ask him a question he is happy to provide answers. I'm really happy I got to take his class and I'm excited to take his 162 next quarter!
lots of packets completed in group work. Most learning comes from reading assignments with clarifying questions when working through packets.
Frazey was always great about offering support when you needed it and wouldn't leave your table until he was sure that you understood the material. We always had plenty of time to prepare for the tests and plenty of time to take them. The tests were open note open book and had zero errors.
One of the best chemistry professors I've had. Answers questions without making you feel dumb. Cares and respects you. Fun to chat with outside of class as well. His content is not too bad. Not a lot of lectures in class. Just group work on practice problems and hell answer any questions that arise. One hw assignment a day and one quiz a week.
He takes a lot of time to make sure you understand the material, and is super thorough in his explanations! The group work is easy to finish by the end of class, and teaches you a lot. There is a lot of extra credit opportunity in the assignments and overall the class and labs are fun and interesting! Highly recommend.
“I felt honored to be in Professor Frazey's class. There were no midterms or finals, just unit tests. If you put in the work, you're set. He creates an unmatched environment, gets to know every student, and genuinely makes you excited to come to class.
Frazey makes chemistry manageable and not scary. He seems to actually care about student's understanding and having fun with chemistry. Unfortunately, I only every really learned something in our labs because he has a "struggle through it" method of teaching in his lecture, which for me, wasn't really helpful for my learning.
Easy to work with, overall very enjoyable. Clear grading requirements, a lot of in class collaboration and eager to answer questions (sometimes he gets excited/over explains and goes on tangents though lol). Overall a very friendly person as well, definitely recommend taking his course.
