He grades speeches really easliy. His tests are also very easy, most of its common sense and he goes over it in class. An easy "A".

A caring and intelligent professor.Gives very practical advice. Maybe too concerned about being fair.

I dont care if most of the other students all like him. He has a funny accent, expects you to do ALL your work and come to almost all the classes. he doesnt give enough breaks as far as im concerned.

Hes a really good teacher.

You will view all films in a new light after this class. Take this for your appreciation class. Be prepared to write some papers.

Its a very cool class. He has great jokes. He makes the class very interesting. His quizes are really easy and he grades papers fairly. Take This Class!!! :)

The best teacher I've had thus far. You should not have a problem passing this class as long as you listen to the lectures and do the work. This is a very fun-filled, educational class.

okay, so (granted) i love his little half brooklyn half norwegian christopher walken-esque accent but he really is an absolutely WONDERFUL teacher.. you'll never, be bored in his class and is very fair. Make sure to communicate with him if you have probs

I took Film as a slacker course, but actually learned a lot. GREAT GUY! If you listen in class, take notes, and do the papers the class is so easy. He'll give you advice on papers during his office hours - guarentees an A basically. Highly recommend this class!

Has some strange personality traits, but genuinely cares about you and your grades. Take time to speak with him and he's likely to take a few moments to consider your thoughts. You're likely to learn something. I'm thankful I had him as my teacher...and that's about the best thing I can say.

Knows what he's doing, guizes are simple 10-15 questions, few tests and papers. Overall, highly recommended, but you dont watch as many films as you think you will, I watched total of maybe 2-3, and they were boring/slow. But it's helpful I guess, only thing I didnt like about class, it was on SAT.

I wish Mr. Gaustad could teach ALL my classes! He is the best! He loves teaching and is kind to all of his students. I highly recommend him.

Great teacher. Sometimes not so clear about direction though. He might have an idea about what he wants you to do, but won't tell you and gets bothered when you don't figure it out. Overall, very good.

Funny guy, very sarcastic, you watch some really great films though. He's a fan of film noir and blacksploitation. It's also REALLY easy to get extra credit in his class.

Gives extra credit for movies watched during semester, know directors.To kiss up go see a movie at Landmark Cinama or Midtown Arts Cinama.He loves cigars, apples and water.Easy class & he grades easy! Attend regularly while watching in class movie b/c some times pop quizes!I learned alot & did not even open the book once!Study for mid term & final!

overall a good professor. very funny. knows what he's talking about. can get passive aggressive at times, and in-your-face, but very forgiving and brutally honest.

he really cares about his students. really keeps your attention, (even in a 3 hour class)

Funny teacher....but hard. He expects you to love film as much as he does. Don't plan on ever getting out early! You watch boring films the entire semester...you write four papers..two quizes..mid-term..final..and A participation grade. And oh yeah, DONT EVER BE LATE-VERY STRICT ON ATTENDENCE!!! He's also obsessed with sex and cigars!

excellent, excellent, excellent. do your work, put effort into it, and practice your speeches ahead of time. he's extremely entertaining and very complimentary. don't give him attitude- none of us want to hear it- and he will respect you.

He is obsessed with talking about movies, sex,**** and cigars-so naturally, his class is fun! He is difficult and expects you to participate and do the work. Come to class, see him for help & act interested, you'll do very well. Loves "good conversation" and "good cigars". He's great-you'll also learn more about film than you ever thought possible

Mr. G is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He's enthusiastic, funny, intelligent, and very concerned with student progress. You need to pay attention though, and read the text outside of class. His tests are multiple choice, true false, with a few brief essay questions. If you are interested at all in film, this is THE class to take.

Mr. G is by far my favorite instructor I have had thus far in college. As long as you take notes, pay attention and participate in class, you have an easy A. Mr. G is very enthusiastic and he livens up the classroom. All in all a VERY enjoyable class. MR. G YOU ROCK!

Passionate teacher. Gets a bit repetitive sometimes. He is pretty funny. If you are easily offended than that's your own fault. I found his jokes funny even though they were dirty. He had maybe 2 or 3 fairly easy quizzes. A few essays that were mainly opinionated so easy class. Gotta an A, but don't slack off the whole time.

Shows great enthusiasm during lectures. Easy A if you have a clue.

Mr G is awesome, so interesting, has an imense knowledge of film and loves to talk about it, he's hilarious but tends to rub some people the wrong way, he only gives 2 tests and a few papers. Just show up to class and be attentive and he'll love you...

Paul Gaustad is a gentlemen who loves his profession. Teaching is his passion and it is difficult not to get caught up in his enthusiasm. He is empathetic with his students and his support is unyielding. You simply can't do any better than to take a class with Paul Gaustad.

This class is a trade-off, on the one hand you get one of the most entertaining proffesors on campus, with a low workload, but on the other hand it's not an "A" handout, he grades kind of harsh. IMO getting a B is worth taking this class, it's very entertaining and fun.

Wonderful teacher, and just a great guy. Don't sit in the front row if you know what i mean, but he loves movies, and he cares about his students. A little bit of a pushover, but take his class if you get a chance.

He is very lively and funny. He keeps you awake and jokes around alot. His class is not hard at all if you just do the work and take notes. He is cool and fun.

I have taken him several times. Two film classes and one communication/ speech class. He is great! He really doesn't want to give any grade below a B. As he says "you are not allowed to fail my class" Just write what he writes on the board and he is happy.

Mr. G is an awesome teacher. If you want to take a really interesting elective, this is definatly it. There are two test one being the final. The test were so easy, just be in class he emphasises the stuff you need to know and is sooo funny. Helpfull as can be as well. You also get to watch tons of movies!!

Gaustad is literally one of the coolest guys I've ever met. I cannot even comprehend not liking him. If you don't know anything about film, it's no big deal to him, but you might not love the class. You'll get an A for sure, and you'll get to know a badass teacher.

Fairly good teacher. I know I could have done better than a C if I would of tried harder but I'm glad I passed. It was interesting learning about movies and Mr. G is one of those characters.

Wow what can i not say about Mr. G! i have had him for film and communications and i think he is the best teacher at GPC. He truly cares about his students and he is a blast in class! he has a great personality and he is an fair teacher. you not only learn in his classes but they are truly enjoyable! Had him for COMM1201, easy course but he was too sarcastic. Couldn't tell when he was joking. He kinda creeped me out a few times.. But he's pretty easy. I'd recommend him for an easy A.

He is a great teacher. The class fun and interesting. He is funny and seems to care about his students. He loves interaction within the class so participation is a must and is a big part of your grade. He does pick on his students especially the ones that are late and do not put forth effort. I would recommend taking Mr. G for FILM.

THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! Dr. He generally cares for his students and WANTS them to do well. He expects you to be present for most classes. ALWAYS come with a notebook and pencil. Do not interrupt lectures. Talk with him after class about interesting topics. Engage in class discussion. READ THE SYLLABUS AND HAVE IT EVERY DAY FOR CLASS!

This is my all time favorite professor. I took this course knowing nothing about film other than I like watching movies. I learned so much. His class has to be one of the most fun ones I have ever taken. He is very committed and always encourages students. He will almost never shoot down an idea for a film review and he encourages you to do your best. I took his class with a history class by his friend and it was a class I will always remember. If you have the chance, then take him.

Awesome teacher. Easy Class. Just don't be late or be on your phone, he hates that and it gets annoying because he will stop lecturing just to acknowledge it.

I took Professor G's History of Motion Pictures class. We watched lots of clips and movies, and it was a lot of fun. He's a great teacher and a great storyteller with an unforgettable personality. I would take him again in a heartbeat. DO pay attention, be on time, and stay off the cellphones. Loads of opportunities for extra credit.
