This guy is very bitter about life. He is BEYOND confussing and super unclear. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COST!!!!!

I had an extremely hard English 131 teacher and I passed the class with an A, but this guy, where the hell did they get him? Maybe he was the prize out of a cracker jack box!Don't take this guy unless you want to be miserable for a whole semester!!!!

A very hard teacher. Will not recommend this teacher to any other student. Does not need to teach anymore. Mr. Gelinas needs his teaching degree revoked from him. He made the class difficult and very hard. He made the students feel embarrassed and ashamed to ask him any questions at all.

This guy is horrible! He reminds me of the counseler from south park. UMMMKAY after every few words gets annoying after a few weeks.

This Guy needs to find a new line of work. He is Rude, Sarcastic, unorganized, and is a very bitter little man. If you answer his questions incorrectly he will berate you and NEVER give the class the correct answer. If you write a perfect paper he will say that "you need to explain yourself" but not tell you what to clairify. He is an ignorant @!$#

35 people started the class 8 people may finish. Could be the worst teacher ever! He assigns the homework then since he teaches nothing and has no plan for the class he just reads the homework,story, poem, line by line. It would be the best for you to NOT take hime.

This little guy is really hard on students. I worked my butt out to keep up with the assignments. he will make you fell stupid and pathetic. I do not go out on dates because of the amount of class works he is giving every week. I think he shouldn't be a teacher. He has to understand the students are not smart as he is. NOT RECOMMENDED TEACHER.

This man spends more time looking at the format of a paper rather than the actual material. Instead of taking points off her hands you the paper and gives you a zero. Not recommended if you aren't dedicated to strictly English

Miserable teacher! I pass the class but This teacher if your hot girl you`ll definitely pass,even if you cheated.very low quality,he would downgrade you just for having a bad format but he would let others bring there papers a month late without any downgrades.just the worst....

Mr. Gelinas was an ok teacher. Yes he is a really tough grader but I'm sure its possible to pass. I would totally not recommend this class.

The worst professor I have ever taken. Does not care about his students. Instead of teaching the class, he tells us everything that we are doing wrong. No respect shown to any student in the class. When going over homework, he screams at the class instead of talking like a normal human.

This is the most ugliest human being i have ever layer my eyes on. He is also the worst teacher i have ever had. He talks out of his ass and assigns the most pointless homework.

He is not concerned about his students by any stretch. Many classmates would attempt to meet with him after class, to no avail. His grading process is absolutely worthless, and cannot be followed online to know where you stand in the class. He basically only lets you see your grade a few weeks before the semester is up. Dodge this guy at all costs.

This man was by far the worst professor I have ever had at Henry Ford. He is arrogant, and does not care about his students. We spent over 3 lectures discussing how to properly use MLA format which I thought was just ridiculous. I'm no expert when it comes to writing papers, and this man made it very obvious to me by giving me Cs on all my papers.

Tough grader

Tough grader and be ware of quizzes and worse class ever to take. No extra credit to offer.

Must put in a lot of effort into the assignments and essays. Lots of hw. One essay throughout the whole semester and revised it multiple times. If you catch any grading mistakes tell him. He is kind but he repeats the same things every class period. No way to know your exact grade in the class. MUST USE PROPER MLA FORMAT

WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! This guy doesn't care about his students, he hates being nice to his students, pop quizzes that come out of nowhere and you don't have time to prepare. This guys is helpful, he just rants and yells at us for what we do wrong in an essay instead of teaching us how to do it right . Drop his class as soon as possible.

One of the most DISTGUSTING professors Ive ever met. Completely degrading and hateful to his students. Hes so terrible, and doesnt teach anything, all he does is say tell the class how stupid we are. Told us on the first day to never ask him questions if we were confused. Almost impossible to to pass

I would not reccomened this professor. He not to approachable. He grades pretty hard. We got random vocab quizes on random words in the dictionary a few times. look for another prof to take this course.

Lord have mercy on the souls of people who take this guy. He is an insanely tough grader, in addition to being contradictory and unreasonable at times. To put it simply, this guy tells you what to do but not how to do it. He'll ask you to do things before even going over them and giving examples in class, i.e. essays, summaries, responses.

Honestly , Im not one to bash a person. Im simply talking about his teaching. The whole class is complaining on how hard he is. His grading is really rough, Ive put in a good amount of effort for a bad return. At this point im just praying to get this class over with. Ive stopped asking questions because he doesnt like to repeat himself. :/

Paul Gelinas has to be one of the most difficult professors I have ever dealt with. His complete lack of consistency and constant self-contradiction is comical. He constantly directs students to just "refer to the material" he has given us but refuses to elaborate when asked questions. Phone calls only allow him to give general responses.

This man is the worst ever professor I have dealt with. Gives extremely vague notes on essays, "refer to the handouts," and is extremely unfair with his grading. Drop this class if you have time too, and take it with another teacher the next semester. I had 4.0 GPA's until this class. If you value your mental health, do not take him.

i really tried my best & this guy would give me the SAME comments continuous times about not enough details but would never give me any more explanation or examples. everything was refer to the handouts but the handouts were WRONG sometimes. i got the MLA format wrong on 3 different papers because HE had it wrong on the template.

Im in a college research class & have done everything but actual research. Hes a VERY tough grader. His comments are constantly recycled from other papers. Hell give the wrong date or pages for assignments. If youve signed up for this class, drop it. Hes a mess, this class is a mess. Run.

Tonight grader. Only good thing is he gives extensions on papers if you ask (but a lot of the time he does not answer your emails). Ive taken many English classes and have done very well, and this professor seems like he wants people to fail. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

Personally I think he is cashed out at teaching. I had a A in this class for a while & I struggled so much with his essays, I got several tutors spent nearly 30 hrs in teaching myself to write a paper, I got one C and the rest D's on my papers, he is vague and not very clear in his directions. He is big on grammar and structure. Do not take him!

His instructions are not clear at all, doesn't help you with anything. I think he's allergic to giving students full credit on assignments and doesn't guide you on what you can do to improve. His test questions are also very confusing and sometimes are even opinion-based (ex. What's the most important component of a story?). PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM.

He doesn't tell you what he expects in essays and then fails you because his instructions were unclear. He's unreasonable and it's impossible to get an A on anything he grades. Also, he gives assignments with incorrect grammar and typos and sends out emails with horrible grammar as well to the point it's incomprehensive. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

if I could give this teacher a negative grades I'll give him -100 just how awful he is. He does not know what is he doing, he gives you a question and expect a different answer. He is not clear with his instructions. Also he gives you the same feedbacks in all of your essays. And he makes you read the book and do something different. plz avoid him

You were honestly better off if I was teaching the class. AND I HATE ENGLISH!!! He does not tell you how well you were doing in class until the very end of the semester. I heard so much about this professor. Believe what the people are sayin please!!! He has unclear directions and grades very harsh. Avoid taking him and just take another professor or the class another semester . Your saving yourself trust me!

SWITCH! DROP! Anything to avoid this man. The first day of class he said, I quote exactly "I'm not mean, I expect a lot from your work but i'm NOT a nazi!" You're not a WHAT? Did we say or suggest you were a NAZI? He genuinely treated this classes like I have nothing else in my life requiring my time and attention. PLEASE! DO NOT TAKE HIM!

I wouldn't even wish this class on my worst enemy save yourself and don't take his class. Will interrupt students' questions to make his point and it feels like every reply to a question students ask is an attack. Does not give suggestions on how to change our sentence to improve it, just says review materials. Every quiz and test is a written one.

My mistake was not listening to other reviews. Do not take this class! Unclear grading criteria, hard to follow along with and he doesn't give good directions. When I went to drop this class, the councilor knew exactly who it was before I sat down. When I asked what I can do he said "You need to spend more time outside of class" That's not HELPFUL

I wish I had checked this site before I scheduled my class with him. All of his tests are short answer only but is looking for very specific answers and if you don't put those he marks you down heavily. He harshly grades quizzes, essays, and discussion boards. The final was even short answer, take a different professor for this class if you can.

Seriously, DONT take this class. idc how desperate u are, wait until someone better is available. He takes off a lot of points off of quizzes if you dont write EXACTLY what he wants you to. Gets defensive over questions, feels like my writing got worse just by being in his class. Has a lot of discussion boards due every other day. just don't do it.

The teacher's first impression set the tone for the semester, with a stern look and unhappy demeanor. He made small sarcastic comments about teaching for "23" years. The professor will ask if there are any questions, and if said student does ask, he will get an unanswered question and a lecture on how he should have been listening.1st bad exp @hfc

Terrible teacher I did not read the reviews, he wants very specific answers on quizzes for example missing more than two classes results in a automatic grade drop on the quiz it asked this answer and I wrote 3 and he marked it incorrect he said the correct answer was 5 , he is very snarky and his lessons are very repetitive. He is isn't open to ??

I initially entered the class hoping to get a good grade. But after seeing my first quiz I withdrawed from the course. I studied for his quiz and it seemed as if he nitpicks at certain words. I even asked how I could fix my mistake and he didn't help me instead he made me feel stupid for asking a question?? DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE. TOUGH GRADER!

I do not recommend this course. I wish I knew about this website before I took it. I got the impression that he thought we were stupid. It felt like he didn't care if we failed. The quizzes also have specific written answers. This is the first class I've had to withdraw from.

He doesn't know how to teach. You basically have to do everything his way, but he never really explains how to do things his way. He's very dismissive after class, and if you don't do well on an assignment, his feedback is minimal and unhelpful. Overall, I would not recommend taking him. He's a frustrating and ineffective teacher.

Easily one of the worst classes I've taken. Assignments had unclear or changing instructions, yet students were penalized for confusion. Grading was inconsistent, with little to no feedback, and concerns were dismissed. I considered dropping because of poor teaching and disorganization, not the material. He is also very hostile. Not recommended.
