Best lecture and lab teacher ever!!! He makes chemistry fun and interesting. His class made me change my major to chemistry. Interesting examples and lively lecture makes class fun. You won't want to miss class even if you're ill.
The best chemistry teacher I have had to date!! Goes out of his way to help the students. Will spend time, even if not during office hours to help. Take his class and you will know your stuff. Tests are VERY fair, know your stuff you'll get an A
Gilletti is a cool guy. He gives a nice amount of bonus points and in all fairness if you know your stuff you can get an A in his class. But he doesnt give you much time to prepare for the tests and stopped teaching the 2nd half of the semester. 1st test
he is rally very cool guy ..hot as well.. he is the BEST .. he is very organized..
He's a really easy teacher. The tests are fair and not very hard. He does a really good job explaining things
Best chemistry teacher that ever rolled the earth. He is really a great teacher, he will help with anything. He remembers your name months after the class has ended and cares about your success. I highly recomend him.
Ratings below perfactly covers all aspects
Best chemistry teacher ever. Grades fairly, very helpful. Will take the time to explain things throughly for you if you are not clear and something. Will help as much as he can to perpare you for higher levels of Chemistry.

one of the best chm teachers i have had explains chm so you can understand it
Great teacher. Very understanding and insightful.
Overall I think Gilletti is a great teacher but there was one thing I didn't like, he doesn't thoroughly teach the last couple of chapters. He says that he promotes students to be self learners towards the end of the semester, which has some merit, but I pay teachers to teach me the stuff. Tests were challenging, as were quizzes, but he curves.
Awesome teacher and he knows his stuff. He is really willing to help and has many office hours. Funny to boot!
I wish I would of enrolled in his lab and lectures. He is the best of the chemistry department bar none.
I took this teacher last semester for 151, and after most of the 152 semester with a different teacher, I wanted to update my review of him. Gilletti is incredible at preparing you for what you will see on standardized tests. If you are going to have to take a PCAT, MCAT, DAT, etc, take Gilletti. You will know your stuff and be very prepared.
There is none other better than Gilletti. He makes chemistry fun and easy to learn. Patience like no ones business, knows your name, cares and knows his stuff.I've had him 2x. Once you go Gilletti you never go back even if it means taking a 7am class. Best teacher ever and should be cloned for every subject.Cant even begin to give him enough credit.
Not much else to say. He is a great teacher. He really loves his job and it shows through his teaching. I compair all my new teacher to him.
as everyone else..he's greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat....i started 152 at asu, droped it and decided that i want to take it with Gilleti...he's great...strongly recommend him.
Awesome teacher, great personality, very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!!
Dr. Giletti obviously loves his job and loves chemistry. He is very patient and will explain anything to you until you get it. He is also so funny, he had me laughing in every class.
Great teacher, very helpful. He truly wants his students to succeed.
He is good, but he always repeats the same thing many times. Before the class start, i don't know why he always preview next week stuff. also at the end of the class(maybe 20min left), he read sth we don't know, sounds like he try to let us know sth only he know. Overall, he is a excellent teacher
I don't understand why people write so many good reviews about him. He is not helpful, he never have time in his office hour. His exams are ridiculously unfair, off of the material he didn't even talk in class. Ifyou can teach yourself you are okay, otherwise He is very selective on his student, he has few favorite and he only has time for them to
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS, HE IS VERY UNFAIR WITH TESTS.
Dr. Gilletti can explain chemistry with the utmost clarity.
Great teacher! Not a very easy class, but if you study and work hard (like you should if you're going to medical school) you'll do fine. Lots of quizes, but only takes top 8 of about 12-13. Has practice tests and quizes. Study those and you'll do great on tests. I took him both years and enjoyed every bit of it. TAKE GILETTI!!! HE'S AWESOME!!
Dr. G is a great teacher and is ALWAYS willing to help, office hours or not! The class is difficult but not impossible.
Nice professor! Very helpful!
Dr. Gilletti sets you up to succeed in his class. Everything is graded on a curve and there are bonus pts available that do not count against the curve. Tests were tough, but fair. He has a good sense of humor and tries to keep class interesting. Not the quickest grader in the world, but overall definately worth taking a class from.
Gilletti was a great teacher, the type that can make a brick interesting. He was entertaining, and used that to make chemistry entertaining (an amazing feat) I had to drop because of my workload outside of class, but would take him again in a heartbeat. If you take have any drive at all, you'll pass with flying colors. Great med school prep
he the man
Dr. Gilletti is the best chemistry prof. He grades on a curve, so you do have to compete w/ your classmates. He explains concepts and equations well. You would be wise to print his lectures from his website instead of taking notes. All in all I was VERY glad I took his class and prepared for the standardized (ACS) final that all MCC prof give.
He is a good professor for the "masses". If you are an autodidact and don't want your hand held, don't take him.
Awesome guy and teacher! He has a way of explaining things to where they just make sense. I just had him as a Lab professor for Chem 130, but he did an awesome job. Highly recommended.
AWESOME TEACHER. Lots of fun, cracks a ton of jokes and really knows his stuff. He's a great teacher and very helpfull, he lets you know what happening a week before it happens. He doesn't hold your hand but he gives you some general guidelines to follow making life a lot easier. I recomend him to anyone who want a fun & interesting chem. class.
Dr. Gilletti is an awesome teacher. He expains everything so well and makes it really easy to understand. If you attend all the lectures and do the homework, you'll definately pass. He also got a feel dry, sarcastic sense of humor which makes class fun. I recommend his class.
I have had Dr. Gilletti for 151 and 152. He is a very helpful teacher, and makes the class enjoyable to take. I did find some of his test difficult but fair. His tests in my mind proved whether you understood the subjects fully or not. I do recommend taking him, i learned a great amount.
Absolutely loved Dr. Gilletti. Very helpful and makes learning chemistry fun and easy. Truly cares about your success.
Prof. Gilletti absolutely rox. He's hilarious & a great teacher. He has a way of explaining somewhat tuff concepts in a very simple manner that minimizes memorization. I went in to the class just wanting to get thru it, but learned a ton and enjoyed it. No doubt he cares about his students.
Dr. Gilletti is the best 152 teacher as MCC hands down. Study his on line practice exams and quizes. Also, print out the lecture notes that he posts online and follow him throughout the lecture. Very easy to understand and gets the class involved. Had 102% going into the final
Very good professor.
I took him for the Chem Lab and the class. I withdrew from the class because I didn't use my book so I got a bad grade. He is very Helpful. Be sure to do your homework for extra credit and read the book.
Gilletti is a great professor!
I really like Dr. Gilletti because he knows the subject well and is a great teacher. The subject matter is hard, but as long as you do the homework and study you'll do fine. He's very helpful and very nice. He offers a lot of advice in regards to future scholastic goals. I'm definitely taking him again for 152.
I only had him for the lab and it was decent. He definitely talks alot,so if you dont want a teacher who says "you paid for 3 hours, so im going to give you 3 hours" then dont take him. We rarely got out of lab early. Sometimes he gets off topic and at times he talks extremely fast. I'd say hes the second best chemistry teacher MCC offers.
Dr. Gilletti was an excellent professor! His PowerPoints were informative and had a lot of examples for the material being taught. His class website was very useful; it contains lecture material as well as past quizzes and tests to review. The only reason I'm not taking him for CHM152 is b/c I had to switch to Red Mt campus for spring semester.
Great Professor. Actually switched to his class because of the reviews posted here about him. Very helpful, funny, explains things in a simple manner so its easy to learn. Completely 100% recommend him!
Great teacher. He is ine of those teachers who would teach even if noone payed him.
Not recommended.
Everyone on here says he is a great teacher, and this was the first time I was disappointed using ratemy. Gilletti is nice, and he has passion for what he teaches, but he makes dumb jokes, and strays off topic too much. And he gives you PP notes, but doesn't follow them in any order. He's really unorganized. Going back to Mike Scott.
Dr. Gilletti is a great professor. He's hilarious, speaks clearly, and knows his stuff as good as any teacher I've ever had. Do your homework and take good notes, you'll be fine. Gives many opportunities to get a good grade. Tests are hard. Best teacher I've ever had though.
Dr Gilletti is a great teacher. You will have to work very hard to earn an A because his tests are pretty difficult. He has a great sense of humor and teaches with great patience. My advice is to use all of the past quizzes and tests that he posts on his website-they are GREAT study tools. I am definitely taking him for Chem 152.
This class has a repution for being harder than it is. He explains things very slowly and as many times as it takes for people to get it. Good sense of humor. Great teacher. If you think think he is overly difficult, you should consider changing your major to sociology...or communications maybe. One of the most patient professors.
Dr. G is a very good teacher but tests are really tough. He is constantly trying to bait and throw you off with his test questions. Gotta put in the time and taking 130 prior to his class is a must. Good guy, knows the subject.. Be ready to work!
Dr. Gilletti is a solid chemistry instructor. He is very helpful and has a great sense of humor. He can become a bit distracted during lectures which can be frustrating at times. His tests are tough, but not unbearable. You must put time into studying for this class.
Mr. Gilletti is a great chem teacher. He tries to keep the lectures parallel with the lab section of the course. He makes the quizzes tougher than usual but if you keep up to date on the homework it shouldn't be an issue. He is very helpful and don't hesitate to ask for help.
varied grade base (test/hw/etc) good explanations/analogies, very helpful and positive couldn't ask for better instruction.
VERY GOOD TEACHER
Funny, enthusiastic Chemistry teacher. He provides tons of example work, shows us his previous quizzes to practice with, and makes sure you know the material. CHM is a tough course, but your suffering will definitely be made less by him. :)
Took him for Lab, very good teacher but he does not give you a break between lec an lab. It sucks sitting there listening to him talk without taking a break.
Gives super hard tests/quizzes. Seems snide when you ask for help. Be prepared to REALLY study.
Excellent teacher excited to have him for 152 Highly recommended
LAB: He is very thorough with discussing what is going on during the experiment. Reviews what will be on tests. He makes jokes which somewhat helps but most of the course wasn't very exciting. He has some online review which is helpful.
I enjoyed the fact that Dr. G made each lab's procedures crystal clear, even pointing out potential mistakes that could cause you to have to start over. He's a fantastic professor, and I've intentionally chosen him for my CHM 151 lecture and lab to continue enjoying his teaching style.
I loved his class. He's funny and enthusiastic and very helpful. He gives you tons of resources to help one understand chemistry and apply it. If you're looking for a class that's straight memorization, this is not the class for you. He intends to make sure you comprehend the subject and teach into the next course. I'm taking him again for CHM152.
Not an easy class. Be ready to spend all of your time studying and in the tutoring lab. Class average on the 2nd exam was 59%. Likes to trick on tests. Tricking is not teaching.
He's super awesome. I like his teaching style and the way he explains things are clear. Tests are hard, but homework is worth extra credit. Hard class but I learned a lot.
Awesome teacher! He is very clear and easy to understand. I had no chemistry experience coming into his class and he explained everything perfectly and i was well-prepared for CHM 151. Highly Recommended!
Dr. Giletti is a great guy, but his lectures are very disorganized despite the use of PowerPoints. His tests are very difficult. He skips steps during explanations; be prepared to ASK questions. Does not stop for lost faces. He does work with you if you need to miss a day and does not get annoyed if you ask lots of questions. Goes off on tangents!
I had gilletti for 130 and 152 and i loved him! He explains things very well and anytime you don't understand he is always willing to help if you come to his office. His class isn't super easy, but if you pay attention and do the homework(which is extra credit)then you will be fine.
Curves the grades quite a bit. If you take notes and do the homework (especially the hw) you'll do fine.
Dr. Gilletti, very different from lecture. Always there to answer questions and help. Genuine and nice professor. Accepts late work if you have a legitimate excuse. Loved his lab, but his lecture is very difficult.
Dr. Gilletti is an awesome teacher! He explains things very well and covers everything in class you are expected to know. He has a great website with tons of resources, including previous tests. Chemistry is not easy; you have to put in the work to learn it no matter who the teacher is. Great teacher who really wants his students to succeed!
Excellent professor. Provides powerpoints, sample quizzes and tests on his webpage, drops 4 low quiz grades, and grades on a curve. Dr. Gilletti is a funny guy and is always willing to help students in his office, way beyond office hours. One of the best! Anyone who gives him a poor review is probably a poor student who blames everyone else.
Awesome professor that will go out of his way for his students. His class is not easy, tests can be hard, but you will leave this class knowing chemistry.
He's very helpful if you ask, the key is to have a class that asks. A playful joke at your expense maybe said but its worth asking questions you do know the answer too.
He is a very helpful instructor, Just ask for help. He is always willing to help even tho his not on his office hours. He says plenty of jokes in class and is always happy. Just study for quizzes and test so you could pass the class. HW is extra credit. He drops 8 of your lowest quiz scores, so he gives students a lot of opportunities.
Dr. Gilletti is awesome! He tries really hard to make Chemistry interesting and is always willing to help if you are struggling. Do the extra credit homework and attempt all of the quizzes (he gave 12 but only kept 8)!!
Avoid this instructor! very unclear.
You don't find Professors like Gilletti any more, he is old school cool. Completely understands that we are seeing the material for the first time (unlike other professors that think you should just know the material because they feel it is easy forgetting they have been teaching it for 15 years). Great guy, funny and a wonderful teacher!
This instructor is the worst chem teacher. He claims to help but that is far from the truth. IF you are having a hard time in the class he will kick you while you are down. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
Gilletti is an awesome teacher but take your time and really study. The class is hard and his test are hard as well. Overall though the class is fair and you get the grade you deverve
He is a very good teacher, he enjoys what he does and is extremely helpful. He teaches according to how well the whole class is doing. Most of my class wasn't understanding the material so he made the tests a little easier. He is a great professor and I recommend him for lecture.
I've made a mistake by jumping to this class instead of the CHM 131. He gives a lot of quizzes and the test are hard because it is a multiple choice. However, he is very helpful. Don't expect "A" becuase he curves. Make sure to be friends with people who have A's in that class.
Gilletti is a really good teacher! Its not an easy class by any means but he is willing to explain it to you many different ways until you do get it. Also do the homework, read the chapter and do the practice quizzes and test and show up to class and pay attention. If you do that you should have no problem getting a good grade.
Professor Gilletti is by far one of the best professors at MCC. He is always in a positive mood and truly cares about his students, which makes going to class an enjoyable experience. His class is not easy, but he does a lot of examples and explains concepts clearly. Make sure you read the chapters before coming to class.
The best chemistry teacher at MCC. He explains things in a very simple way, with concepts that correlates with the material that he is teaching. I'm going to miss this guy, and I wish him well in future endeavors.
Amazing person, one of the best professor ever had. He can make tough topics easy to understand. He is really dedicated and passionate in what he does. I wish most of the professors are able to interact with students like he does.
He does want to best from you but when you aren't doing so great, he talks down to you. He jumps from one chapter to another. Jumping back and fourth gets confusing. He excepts a lot and doesn't really help or offer too much. He excepts you get everything right there and then.
Professor Gillette is the best chemistry professor at MCC. He can break down any topic and teach it in very easy way to understand. He is always busy, but he always makes time for his students in office hours. I know i was there every time he was in there and he never made me feel like a bother. Overall great guy amazing teacher.
I don't know why some people complain about Dr Gilletti, maybe because they didn't really put the time into the class. This class is tough, but Dr Gilletti is very helpful. I am horrible at chemistry, probably one of my worst subjects, but Gilletti knows how to explain thing. I highly recommend his class, I will take him for CHM152 if I can.
I don't think I have ever had a teacher that cares more about his students than Gilletti. Even though he had multiple classes of over 50 students, he seemed to know everyone by name on day 2! Chemistry is a very difficult subject, and he made a challenging topic much easier through his teaching. Another plus - he curves grades! HIGHLY recommended!
Gilletti is a great professor who cares about all of his students' success in future educational and career endeavors. He does a great job explaining everything with examples you can relate to. I leave every lecture/lab feeling like I learned something, rather than feeling confused (like my last CHM professor). Highly recommend, lecture + lab!
It's an ok class. Subject material is VERY hard but Mr. Gillette knows that and really works with you by dropping quizzes and giving bonus points. I didn't think I would make it through this class but with his curving and dropping and bonuses I was able to make it through!
Genuinely good at teaching. A little silly, but it helps the material stick. Covers everything well enough I never cracked the book (which is terrible, by the way: RENT it!) and got a high grade. Not to say he's EASY, no, but you only fail if you don't pay attention. Highly recommend!
Great professor, his lectures are very well thought out, always gives a practice test which is somewhat hit or miss compared to the actual, but tests are generally straight forward. As long as you practice the problems and try to understand the concepts this class is fun and easy. A very approachable person.
Anybody who has put a bad review up for this professor just doesn't want to be at school. Professor Gilletti will bend over backwards to make sure you get the help you need. I hardly studied at all and still got a good grade thanks to his extra credit. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Gilletti simplifies the math aspect of chemistry in a way that makes it easy to understand. He shows empathy towards his students when "life happens" and is always willing to help in any way that he can.
He is a very approachable professor when you have issues with any of the material. CHM152 can be pretty difficult at times, but he does a good job simplifying it. The one thing I didn't like is how he rushes through the last few chapters and piles the homework and quizzes on heavily. He did that with 151 too but he is still a great teacher.
Dr. Gilletti is a fabulous professor! He is a wealth of knowledge. I learned more about chemistry from him than anyone else hands down. He is a little silly but it makes things fun. He is very understanding. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Gilletti is one of the coolest teachers I will ever have. He made chemistry so clear and easy to learn. His homework is extra credit, but necessary to understand the material. He gives past tests and quizes to help you prepare for the current tests and quizzes. All around fun and easy class if you put in the effort. He did an amazing job,
Dr. Gilletti is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Nachman was good, I really loved Dr. Duce for organic chemistry, but Dr. Gilletti takes the cake. He's a wonderful man and caring teacher.
very caring, he is willing to help his student as much as possible, he explain the learning material clearly but not at all in test reviewing. And his website is barely updated
practice quizzes available online. hw, quizzes, and exams. Willing to help anyway he can. Awesome instructor. Wanted him for 152 but schedule time wasn't available.
Prof Gilletti had no organization. He gave no schedule for exams which meant I was creamed on the first test because it was a day before an upper-level bio exam. He had little patience for explaining anything. He does post old quizzes & tests but you never know if they will be like the test. P-points are thin at best. Would not keep order in class
Paul Gilletti is the funniest Prof ever. He understands that the material is tough and tries his best to make sure you are prepared. Has past quizzes and test to help you prepare for upcoming exams and quizzes. Will be taking his clas for CHEM152.
Dr. Gilletti is one of the best professors! I recommend taking his class. He lets you do homework to get extra credit, and the homework helps a lot for the exams and quizzes. He won't give you an easy A, but if you study and attend his lectures, you will be super fine. I used to hate chemistry until I take his class.
Dr. G is one of my favorite professors at MCC. He teaches the material well, gives good feedback and cares and know his students. He truly wants you to succeed and gives you ample opportunity. He is very kind and is more than willing to repeat stuff and go over material with you. Took him for lab as as well, and I highly recommend him.
prof gilletti has no organization, no clear grading system. he uses his own website which is confusing to navigate. he expects you to be a top level chemist who knows everything about chemistry. for someone who doesn't know anything and constantly struggles to understand chemistry he is not the best professor. don't recommend taking his classes
some exams the highest scores were below 70 and one 80 and he thought it was funny, his goal is to see how many students he can weed out, his own website is very complicated, he's very brilliant and shouldn't be teaching 100 level chem, he expect you to know everything already, he's very disorganized, my 4.0 was ruin by this class, got a B, DON'T
Gilletti is an amazing professor. His website is self-explanatory. He can get disorganized in lectures, but if you read the chapters you'll be able to weed out what you don't need. I'm taking his 152 due to how well he explains concepts, he's also willing to meet for office hours for extra help. He's not the easiest but definitely one of the best
Dr. Gilletti is extremely knowledgeable and he knows how to make the problems easier to solve. I was never good at CHM, but I took 151 and 152 with him and got A for both. Do the hw, they are extra credits and can help a lot with your grade. He also curves your grade, so if you couldn't get the grade you want, you didn't work hard enough.
Worst teacher ever. Unorganized doesnt tell you until a week ahead for test and quizzes. Taking other hard classes which means I have to drop everything and study. Syllabus is not helpful. If your thinking of taking him for lab you better hope for the best.
Nice guy, fairly decent teacher. His weekly quizzes are hit or miss. All the old study material is online but there were numerous times when what he had us study and what we were tested on were completely different. He posts and updates grades regularly. Homework is extra credit. He skips through a lot of notes because they "aren't that important"
He is an amazing teacher, he is always willing to help. You can stop by his office and he will take the time to cover the topic in numerous ways and explain the chemistry so u can understand it. Hes flexible with his quiz and exam dates, willing to move them if necessary to help students out who have time constraints. His website is super helpful.
The best professor I've had in my many years in school (I already have a BA and BS). His lectures are easy to follow and understand and he posts all his slides. His exams are difficult but he provides all the old exams for you to study from. He's caring and compassionate but only if you're not the dummy missing classes. Take him for lab also!
I truly miss his class. He brings his jokes, charm, & positivity to every class every day!!! I took him for both semesters of GC and got A's. He gives PLENTY of opportunities to succeed. DO ALL THE HW. If you do, youll crush the tests. Dont stress if you bomb a quiz, he drops SEVERAL of your lowest. He really cares, and prepares you for O-Chem.
Professor Gilletti is a great instructor. He is extremely smart and does a good job at explaining the content. I was truly excited to go to his labs every time. I'm glad I got a chance to be taught by him. He really cares about his students. He is also a very humorous guy!!
Dr. G. Is one of the best teacher , respectful, caring. He is always ready for questions in class and explaining again. There is available many resources, perivious exams in his site, many extra credits. Lab is super easy. He made the online class so comfortable.
Professor Gilletti was a fun professor. However, I had to take his live online lecture course for CHM151 and due to us not being in person, there was no homework. This meant that our quizzes, midterm, and final was all you had for your grade and some of the questions/topics on the examinations were never covered during class.
Everything in the grade book is tests so its kind of hard to do well if you aren't good at testing, His lectures were great and stayed on topic but a lot of the learning is reading the book on your own and doing practice problems. Reach out to the people who seem like they know what they are doing and form study groups, it helps a lot.
This professor was a real gem to be honest. I took him for the lab part of CHM151 and I passed with a B. Honestly I wouldve gotten an A if I wasnt lazy outside of class. He gives every opportunity to pass his class you just have to be willing to make the effort. I ended up dropping my lecture part as that professor didnt teach me like Gilletti.
He is very engaging and knows his stuff, will keep your attention even when covering mundane content. He only grades on tests, homework is solely for extra credit. Will do review in class and has a lot of resources online. Most people that have trouble with this class generally just have trouble with chemistry and not the professor.
Professor G was great he simplifies Chemistry well enough. Be prepared and show up if you dont get the quiz grades you want it can be a bit frustrating considering most of the grade is quiz based.
You will have a tough time. What is on quizzes and tests are not clearly laid out. At times it felt like information taught in class was easy and test questions were a much harder version.
Chemistry is hard enough but with my learning style, Gilletti wasn't enough. He had no schedule, leading us to have 4 exams and 7 quizzes in the last half of the semester. Only graded quizzes, exams, and homework were only extra credit, although it was around 60-70 questions. He did give partial credit on quizzes. But the final wasn't his own.
Keeps best 7/10 quizzes but the past quizzes he tells us to review for the current quiz aren't close to what he will put on our quizzes & tests are hard! He goes through lectures very fast and can be confusing. You will have to review the slides on your own time if you wanna do well. Homework is optional extra credit so do it! Nice funny guy though
good professor. He retired though, unfortunate
