He made the class fun and interesting, His lectures were always insightful, and his classroom was full of debate. I would recomend him to anyone needing to take govt. He was also very nice, if you needed further guidence, or wanted him to eleberate a specific topic more.

Mr. Gottemoller not only knows what he's talking about and teaches clearly and precisely, but he makes the classes fun. I personally believe that the more fun you have in class, not only the more you pay attention, but the more you actually remember. And unlike a few fun professors, he actually stays on track and teaches instead of being ALL fun.

Easily the best choice for government i made. yeah his teaching style is difficult since he doesn't use study guides for tests, he has his notes on slides shows for him to show, plus you can print them out. he makes the class fun with his humor, and if you really want to pass the class, its possible.

The class honestly is one of the few classes that I look forward to. Mr. Gottemoller has interesting insights & definitely knows the subject back and forth. If you have any inkling of will to learn, you'll love the class. Tests don't have study guides though, so either take great notes or browse the chapters before & don't forget your scantrons. ;)

I went into this class hating the subject and I'm leaving wanting to know more. I never understood the subject, Mr. Gottemoller makes it easier to get interested as well as understand. As an adult you either take an interest or you don't its your choice. You WILL fail the class if you don't apply yourself. He gives the notes for a reason.

Awesome teacher! I'm currently taking his GOVT 2302 class and I took his 2301 class last summer. Gottemoler is one of the finest teachers at Del Mar and is extremely helpful. I reluctantly signed up for his class to fulfill my core requirements but I ended up loving it. He offers extra credit and his tests are fairly easy if you study.

I started off worried about this class but by the end of the semester i didn't want it to end. I wasn't interest in GOVT but he really made me understand the importance of it & got me so interested. His test may be a bit challenging but if you read the material you will do fine. He offers extra credit & has curves. He's alway open for discussion!

Makes government an interesting subject. He is not afraid to bring up relevant news headlines and even informs you of things you may not know. His lectures are interesting and he uses YouTube videos to back information up. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM, especially if you think you are not interested in govt. He'll change your mind about it :)

This is a class you learn a lot in. Expect to study. Do not take this class if you don't have the time to concentrate on it. It is not a blow off class, but it is a fun class and Dr. Gottemoller is extremely helpful and easy to talk to. He cares about his students and tries to make government interesting for everyone.

Dr. G teaches a fairly easy class. He lets students discuss the topics so be prepared for a barrel full of stupid from classmates. He doesn't take attendance and the subject matter is easily learned by reading the text. Fairly easy "A" with low attendance.

You can get an A if you apply yourself. Read the chapters, do the weekly assignments, and do not plagiarize. Tests are multiple choice, lectures aren't horrid. Pop quizzes help. He also likes for you to talk even if you disagree with him. It can be a fun class. 42

Dr. Gottemoller is in a league of his own. He will work with you and is tech savvy. If you e mail him, he responds. He uses an on line site for your homework that has flash cards to teach you the material. He is a harsh grader so don't BS on the 7 page paper. You'll need this: 42. The tests are mostly from the book and some on line flash cards.

Dr. Paul is awesome! He is big on current events so if you are into what is going on in the world today, you will love this class. Everyone has to take government, might as well make it fun. As long as you read the book, do the homework, and write a decent paper, you will do well in his class. Strongly recommended.

Very interesting lectures. I actually look forward to his classes because he makes a subject I would normally loath to broach extremely interesting. He understands that many of us are taking this class because we have to and focuses on helping us actually understand government.

Great class! Assignments are all online, so you need the textbook. Personally, I wrote all the questions answered online with the homework because that's exactly what the tests are over, so as long as you study, you'll do good. There's a large essay due mid-semester, so get it over with while you can! He keeps class up to date on recent news

Outstanding in every aspect you shouldn't leave DelMar until you've taken a class thought by Dr. Gottemoller! Creates classroom atmosphere were you want and look forward to the next class! Discussions in class are astounding and comical!! One if the top 2 professors I've ever had out of 40!

I took Dr G. for both govt classes and got an A in both. All you have to do is show up for class, do your homework and the paper and you will have no problem with his class. Yes he is into you tubes and current events but thats what make the class and Dr. G interesting and unique. One of my two favorite profs at Del Mar!!!!!!!!

I took him for gov 1 and 2 and all I can say is take him! All the Youtube videos and class discussion make it worth it. His views on attenedence is you spent the money you attend at your discretion but make sure you have a friend in class. He does not take attendence. Dr. Gottemoller is a great professor. He keeps things very real, and has a unique way of forcing students to think outside the box. As most have reported, he is very fond of youtube videos, but they are all related to current events and politics, but the commentary is priceless! Looking forward to having him for intro to political science!

His class is NOT all about youtube vidoes. We don't see one everday and when we did they were government related. You actually have to work or you will not pass, it is not a blow off class. I almost learned the hard way, make sure you start the paper for 2301 early. He doesn't take attendance but I showed up every day I could, thats how good he is!

Relatively easy. do the online assignment and read the book. prof. Dr.G really cares about the student, as long as you try he will meet you halfway so you can do well. I had to miss a week during a summer semester and he was very understanding. There were funny youtube videos, keeping the class interesting, helping teach the material. The class is set up so if you aren't a good test-taker you can still do well.

Gottemoller is definitely the first professor to ever show me how to truly write a good research paper and he actually let's you email him every single rough draft you write and he checks it. I really appreciated that he was so anal about papers because I am now a more confident writer. He gives a lot of extra credit and he's a pretty cool dude.

Gottemoller is great! I have taken both him and Clark for my government units. Out of the two I prefer Gottemoller. He really cares about his students and is approachable. I was shocked how young he was too. No crusty, coffee-stained bearded man here. He very easy to relate to. Coursework is bearable and no more difficult than Clark.

Tests were pretty hard... I was in his very first intro to pols. It went well. Because it was such a small class I appreciated the individual attention he was able to give each of his students when it came time to write our paper. Wish more instructors were like him.

Took Dr. G for a summer 2306 course and enjoyed every minute of it. You were given a clear sense of the standard he expected from his students and with enough effort you will do well. Make sure you stay ahead in the reading and come to class and I promise you'll do well.

as far as i remember all his tests are taken from the online homeworks for his government classes, i can imagine he gets them from the publisher. Just do the homework a day or two before the test until you get them all right. do this, you should pass.

Dr. Gottemoller is a very hilarious teacher but can be tough. He is very assertive on what he expects out of students and wont take less. But don't get me wrong, he is EXTREMELY helpful. My class with Gottemoller was one that was as nerdy as him. Due to that, there was a lot of joking, laughing and talking about anything. His PowerPoints do not offer much. Tests are pretty tough. He grades with an iron fist on the paper. Look for the paper requirements online, as he did not explain it well enough in class. Be active in class!

Dr. Gottemoller 's class is interesting. A lot people believe that studying politics is a boring, but he makes it so fun and worth it . He encourages class participation and project at the end of the semester. If you give your 100%, and not be late in turning project, you will definitely get a good grade. He is one of the best teachers. Its so simple in fact if you pay attention to his lectures you can pass with an A easy. That's how good he explains his lectures. As for the paper he has us write for the semester is extremely easy. He will even go over it with you, plus 5 extra points if you go to the writing center.

Class discussions are fun. If you ask for help in class, it's totally there. He can be aggressive or seem abrasive at times because he's got feelings, but overall Dr. G is a really nice, funny guy. Keep up with (and memorize) the quizzes and it's an easy A or B. It's a joy to be in his class. 1 complaint - doesn't reply to emails. Ask ??? in class.

Lectures are engaging. Although he strays away from the topic, it doesn't deter from the class nor his ability to teach. Very extroverted and has a good sense of humor. Assignments are relatively direct toward exams and the paper was equitable. Evident he is well informed outside of the requirements. Would highly recommend his class.

Would highly recommend taking both Federal Government and Texas Government back to back with, Doctor G. I've taken another professor for Texas Government, and her tests were extremely hard. His are great, simple and he covers them on lecture slides during class. They are also up on Canvas to look over. He also has an S.I. for those who need help.

Dr. Gottemoller is the realist mother smurfer you will have as a professor. He is passionate about the subject matter and has a uniquely engaging way of lecturing that makes you question what the smurf is wrong with our government, who is at fault for the issues, and what can be done about it. BEWARE he can steal jokes and pass them off as his own.

I don't believe the review that says staff gets complaints. Whoever wrote that review sounds extremely bitter,must have not done so well in the class,expected everything to be spoon fed to them. Very down to Earth and straight forward. He's test aren't hard if you read the assigned material. A+ Prof. Ok so I will start off by saying DO NOT take him if you want an easy "give me study guides for tests" A. I had him for 2305 & 2306 both A's because I actually STUDIED with his amazing SI. Lectures, I felt he takes the subject matter and applies it to real life which is FANTASTIC. I'd say my biggest issue was he's a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

It is not an easy class and therefore you must read the chapters and study but he opens your mind in a way so different from high school. If it were an easy class I don't think I would of studied as much as I did. I would definitely take him again in Govt 2311. He's very responsive and truly cares about his students.

I went in dreading this class the first day but to my amazement he was quite energetic and enthusiastic about federal govt. Going to SI helps alot on exams. He gave my class extra credit pop quizzes which are fairly easy if you know current events. And has one paper which I dreaded but is fairly easy; is willing to read it before you turn it.

I loved the class. Every class is just lectures and notes but I enjoyed that and sitting through them helps a lot. Dr. Paul was an amazing professor. I took his class three time and got pretty decent grades. Make sure that you read your chapters and do the assigned homework that is given. His test are multiple choice and essay based. Therefore, make sure you study in advance.

I took him online during the Summer. I liked that there a clear layout for the Summer and that we could work ahead on our quizzes. 32 quizzes w/ 20 questions that you can retake until you get a 100 (sounds like alot but its not), 4 major tests and 1 paper. Seriously super easy. I am taking him again in the Fall so I'll see how it differs vs Summer

Easy class, great lectures. Goes off a little here and there, but if you're not able to focus for long periods, it's a great break. Has one paper which is easy, and the test are normal, but my class had an SI, so I would recommend you visit for extra help. He likes his class to participate and conversate with him.

Professor G is by far the best teacher to have for govt. Never a bore in this class. He does tend to get distracted showing a lot of dumb stuff on the internet but it's all weirdly govt related some how. He is very sarcastic, but it puts the fun in his teaching. He drops one test, You have one essay, extra credit and 4 exams.

Dr. Paul Gottemoller is a great and FUNNY teacher. His course is lecture heavy and you won't be leaving until the last seconds of class. Go to S.I. it will help so much!! There will most likely be 4 test, which are all 23% of the final grade. He drops the lowest test grade including the final. He has 1 essay, but he tells you ahead of due date.

quick response time, each chapter has a pre and post quiz both super easy and unlimited attempts. you can work at your own pace to an extent, gives plenty of time to complete work. One major paper due, but you have half of the semester to work on it. would def sign up for another one his classes

Attending class is somewhat optional, he does extra credit quizzes, so it's better if you go. He is passionate about politics, but doesn't bore with heavy lectures and brings in current events that relate to the course. I took him for govt 2305 last semester and was excited to take him for govt 2306. He knows what he is talking about. He is very outspoken about politics and does not state his opinion. He states facts and if those facts are negative about certain people in politics, your issues are with the wrong person. Love Dr. G and his teaching style!

Loved the lectures and attending class, Dr. G is up to date on current event and loves the 90s. Pay attention to what slides he speaks about the most and try to follow along. The tests are no joke, but he drops your lowest grade. Keep in mind that Dr. G is very up front and will call you out if it's needed. Other than that, tons of fun!

Gottemoller is HILARIOUS. If you have kind of a crude sense of humor and don't take offense easily you're really going to enjoy his lectures. He does get off topic often when it comes to lectures but it keeps the class engaged and you can remember "oh we watched that funny video the day he talked about ___" First test is hardest then its all cake.

I took him summer 1 . There are a few quizzes every week and 4 tests total with the lowest grade dropped. There is also one paper you have to write 4-6 pages. I found it to be a very easy online class and wish I could take him for more classes! Definitely taking him again for my other government class

Only had 1 essay, based only on your political beliefs and how they came to be. Had 3 test and a final all of them were easy if you just do the few quizzes before each test and youre pretty much set. His lectures are really easy to understand and interesting. Besides that hes a really lax guy but does get pretty off topic.

He's super funny, but a little arrogant. Specific when it comes to what you should study(study the powerpoints and you'll do good on tests). One dropped grade that includes the final. Professor G is an amazing person. Took him for Government 2305 & 2306 couldnt have asked for a better professor. Summer 2 he gives you 4 exams & one 4 page essay that needs to be DONE! Drops your lower grade

Amazing professor!

Professor Gottemoller is a fantastic professor. Although I dont agree with him on everything, I highly respect him because he gives students the chance to engage him in either a debate or conversation about what he said. He has the type of class that is hard to yawn in. This professor is extremely caring about his students.

Is very clear in expectations in terms of assignments and grading. One paper.

The class is shown videos of politicians being fools on YouTube, government failures and random videos of internet. The slides were what was on the exam Dr. Gottemoller is hilarious. You will be entertained in his class. I became more interested in the class. There are 4 exams, a paper and chapter quizzes. Over all easy to compelte.

Easy fun class. 1 essay about your political ideology. Drops one of the 4 exams, including the final. He gives reviews too, but only if you're the cool class, and we were! Quizzes are not timed and can be taken an unlimited amount of times. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, and I recommend taking it in person.

Government isn't a strength of mine but this prof. made it fun and interesting. Goes off topic here and there but knows how to segway back into the topic. Likes discussion so don't be afraid to speak up in class.

Overall enjoyed his class. His lectures are entertaining and his exams are really easy if you do the study guide. I took it over the Summer and he was super flexible about changing due dates. Would take his courses again!

Solid dude, super reasonable.

Dr. Gottemoller is an amazing professor when it comes to topics that are irrelevant to Government. If you want an A, I would suggest taking another professor because his tests are difficult. However, he does provide a study guide and drops the lowest test grade. He also communicates very well through canvas, and is caring.

Pay attention, hate Arby's, Applebees, and Wienerschnitzel, and interact & you'll both pass and enjoy the class. You'll hear plenty of entertaining stories. Despite the fact I disagree with most of his political views, he's a favorite teacher. He's passionate and encourages discussion so don't be afraid to speak up.

Best teacher I've ever had. Taken him for Fed gov & Tex gov, loved them both. He manages to keep his class entertained and educated. He's passionate about government and it shows. Grades are immediate, lowest test grade gets dropped (even final), quizzes are re-takable, and one paper. Utilize the outlines and reviews. 10/10 class.

He is lecture heavy, even though attendance isn't mandatory GO TO CLASS. The lectures will help with understanding on topics not covered in study guide for exams. Quizzes are chapter based, if it isn't on the exam study guide don't worry about it. He is kind and won't undermine you. There is a paper, TURN IT IN TO THE SWC for extra credit! Helpful.

Keeps atmosphere light with jokes and videos. Textbook not mandatory as everything on tests in covered in study guides and slides which are posted on canvas. Encourages respectful debate with himself and other students. Super easy class and worth taking. Bring arby's to make his day

This guy is very funny and makes government fun; there's a 5-page essay you will do, but it's not hard as long as you try. lectures are entertaining, and there isn't any extra work outside of class. If you pay attention and study, you will do just fine. his expectations are made very clear from the beginning.

Lectures were very entertaining and he was always making us laugh. The only things graded are the lectures, quizzes, and the 4 page paper. He also provides the powerpoints and study guides to the class. Very helpful, wonderful guy

This man can go on multiple tangents in a single lecture but is very funny and strives to be a part of the Loving County council. He loves eating at wienerschnitzel so feel free to bring it up in class at any point in time. Overall a very funny class and one I enjoyed. He also is very direct with the course material needed to study for tests.

Coming from someone with ADHD, I don't recommend going to his lectures. He goes off topic wayyyy too much and it's hard to focus when he can't even focus himself. He also tells the lamest jokes to try to make us laugh and is kind of a douche. However, when I stopped going to his class in person, his study guides were very helpful to pass the exams.

The professor is honestly funny and great, but you're cooked on exams. Study guides do not help, you will maybe get a 70 if you are lucky. Studied for 2 weeks, and got a 50. You take this class not to learn, you take it for the experience. If you're a collegiate student, this will kill your GPA. 10/10 would take again.

Lectures are always great, fun and open for discussion. Class is extremely flexible with attendance and there are very few due dates to keep up with so it's not so stressfu. Tests are easy with the provided study guides. Also, Dr. G. sounds like Charlie from its always sunny in PA so thats a plus.

I loved this class The study guides were very helpful. The class was very engaging and not having to go to class if I wasn't up to it and not having to worry about assignments.

Prof. G's lectures are engaging and open to discussion. Tests are straightforward with study guides. Quizzes can be retaken unlimited times. I found Unstuck ai very helpful for exam prep alongside the textbook.

Prof. Gottemoller is a good professor. He makes lectures funny, enjoyable, and even relatable. He does go overboard at times which leads to some awkward silences, but he makes learning the material fun regardless. The textbook and attendance are mandatory. He explains every topic which makes tests and learning easier. Overall, a good professor.

He was amazing, the lectures were fun and we actually learned a lot. He gives a lot of extra credit assignments and he a kind and compassionate teacher who actually cares about us.

Prof. was extremely funny and genuinely cared about students. That said, he did go off-topic a lot, and the class often focused on one of his many tangents rather than coursework. A study guide was always provided before the tests, which were always multiple-choice. Overall not a bad prof. and would take it again. prepare to study outside lecture

He is an amazing professor. He is very caring and understanding. If you participate in class he will love you. Class is not mandatory all slides are posted on canvas and yet people still go to his class because he makes it fun and makes government interesting.There is no homework which makes the tests weighed very heavily. Would take again for sure

Professor Gottemoller is the best professor I've had! I genuinely wasn't stoked about having to take a government class, but ended up enjoying it more than my major-based class. He made the class very interesting and enjoyable to learn. Very funny lectures and does an amazing job of making things relatable for me to understand. 10/10!

He can go off topic but is worth choosing his class! If you've taken him once, you know what your getting. If you haven't, he's worth the experience.

This professor is awesome! If you show up and take notes, you'll pass the class with no problem. Definitely go to class even though he does not take attendance. Not only does he test on the lecture, he is also hilarious. 10/10 would recommend.

I've taken him for federal and Texas government. I highly recommend this professor. I wish every professor had the energy and love for teaching! He makes it so fun and interesting. Is so helpful when needed.

You know a professor is awesome when he does not require attendance but everybody shows up anyway (especially at 8am). He makes government fun to learn about in his lectures and does the best to his ability to help his students succeed.
