Class was very easy. As long as you do whats required, easiest A in the world. Speaks quickly and sometimes not understandable.
It was one of my easy classes. Just keep up on your notebook!! If you just take a lil bit of notes, look at them, and be on top of you notebook you can get a B or A pretty easy.

He is a bit hard to understand and speaks to fast and is a bit to quick on his steps in problem solving. Y ou will have to go back to your notes and re-do all examples he shows you. but is a good guy overall
I think Mr. Grau is an inexperienced teacher. He has pages of notes prepared for his lecture of the exact same problems that are given as examples in the text and those are the only examples he gives you.He puts problems on the test that he does not even go over.He goes over the homework before class not during. He does not do a review for the test
he talks to fast, does same examples that are already in the book, doesnt go over homework unless its before class. said he was willing to help and to ask him anytime ..then when i asked months later a simple question, he embarrassed me in front of class. NOOOOO!!!
Mr. Grau is very inconsiderate. He also needs to learn how to "teach."
Horrible teacher. doesn't speak well, doesnt answer questions without embarrassment. He passed a few friends in my class that had all F's like me , they passed with a C and I didnt. I then retook it online and taught myself pretty much and got a "B". Would never recommend.
Does not relate well with students
Very poor teacher, he totally destroyed my self esteem and my chances of moving forward.
Great teacher, easy class requires attendance. Gives lots of help, and pretty easy on the eyes...in a math teacher sort of way!
Horrible teacher. Very hard to understand and talks to fast, needs to learn how to talk to a class. Not a good math teacher at all he can't add to save his life. He's very sarcastic and embarrases people infront of class. I would definetly NOT recommend him!!!!!!
AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS! If your a high-school dual-enrolled student at ATC and they stick you with him well then your in for a long semester :(. This guy LOVES to pick on you if you show the slightest sign of not paying attention to his long lectures which you cant understand sh*t anyway, avoid at all costs!!
Ok, Grau may have a dry since of humor but he is only being humorous. Nice guy and he cares if you pass. He even checks on you after u have left his class. He will help you if you need it. If you are upset with his humor then ur ridiculously sensitive and need to get some esteem. Go visit Mike Smith's class....then you will want to kiss & hug Grau
Mr grau. speechs too fast and is hard to understand. He embarass you infront of the class, and has a weird way of grading papers. He only use examples in the book so your pretty much teaching your self. He has very sloppy hand writting, and very sloppy notes.I would not recommend its pretty much the same as teaching yourself.
Well lets just say I had to withdraw from the class because the teachers teaching style is to quickly to understand and when you try asking for help he constantly says "Well that was what the homework was for". I mean I never give up on anything but this class this teacher was extra hard! I suggest that you all find another teacher!
True, Grau teaches fast but he is more than willing to repeat if you just ask. His sense of humor is pretty dry and sarcastic but he only calls out students if they arent paying attention. Homework is easy and he gives you back your tests so you can do corrections and resubmit it.
DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. Especially if you have trouble with math. He has embarrassed me infront of the class for asking a simple question. Before I entered this class, math was my favorite subject, now I'm strongly reconsidering.
he is a horrible teacher. I left out of every class trying to teach myself. He assumed that you knew and his writing and notes were very hard to read. he would say he was avail. to help but you either more confused or embarrassed afterwards because he was very condescending. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!HE BRAGGED ABOUT FAILING MORE THAN 60%
This guy does not know how to teach, AT ALL! I knew pretty much everything we went over, and I can understand why people could not understand him, he simply sucks. I did pass the class with a B, I could've gotten an A but I did not have the drive. Do yourself a favor and don't take him, he's used to teach High School kids at ATC.
Grau=SUPER EASY. Honestly all you have to do is pay attention. He takes his examples right out of the book and on the tests he gives you the same questions only with different numbers. And I agree, he only gets you if you dont even look like youre paying attention.
At 1st I was having a hard time in class but then I asked him to slow down and met with him at the ASC and he helped.
though he is nice, he isn't very clear. i did well in college algebra, not usually confused in math. and i am totally lost here. this guy just assumes you get it, fine...but when you do ask him to clarify he gets really irritated and just speeds through it less clear than the first time. he does make you feel kinda embarrassed for asking questions.
Not the easiest teacher to understand. Shows impatience with students who are taking Trig and can't do 5th grade fractions. He's not humiliating you in class, you're doing it to yourself. He gives online quizzes and posts all of the homework online the first day. If you don't get it, and don't ask for help, then you deserve to fail.
Moves extremly fast. If math is not your best subject I do not reccomend taking his class. He is very sarcstic and talks down to his students and no matter how hard you try in his class if you are a half of a point away from a higher letter garde he wont give it to you.
Very helpfull
he will give you one on one help during his office hours. I found this very useful
Very Smart. Knows how to help you learn the material. pays close attention to the trends from past students and focuses on getting you through those hang ups.
this instructor gives you the tools to learn the rquired matterial. He is extremely helpful but he doesn't hold you hand. I had Mr Grau for Mac 1105 and Mac 1114 because I understood the concepts in these classes so well, am now in Mac 2311 and doing well. if you want to under the matterial take Me Grau
Worst math teacher I ever took. When I asked him for help he could not figure out how to do the problem and just told me to 'skip it', therefore I never learned anything because he knows it but can't teach it.
Works very fast, good class if you catch on fast. Offers lost of extra credit and grades you on your work not your attendance. Makes it easy to get an A for those who are willing to put the work in. A little impatient explaining what he thinks you should already know,..
He is very hard to follow, speaks entirely too fast and expects you to follow his auction style speaking. I got a C+ in the class and never had a C+ in college. He docs points for simple stuff that should just be left alone. I would not recommend him to anyone for any class. He is a very cool professor but we arent here for coolness
I would not recommend this professor to anyone!! He has a cocky attitude in which he brings to class and he will embarrass you. I did well in his class because I studied at home b/c he was useless. He says he willing to help but when the time comes he avoids you. He brags about failing his students! Do yourself a favor and avoid taking his class!
Great teacher, cares about his students. Super inteligent, I would take him again. Thank You PG for all your help. you are the man
You will be a better all around studewnt once you take him. He is a fun professorand is genourous with his time to say the least. He will never turn you away from his office.
Great Teacher took him online and was quite easy !
DONT TAKE HIM!!YOU WILL NOT PASS! I took his class and failed misserable so I had to withdraw. He talks way to fast, will embarrass you and make you look stupid in front of the whole class and he will pick on you. He embarrassed me quite a few times. SPARE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE. He is a picky grader, you dont circle an answer its automatically wrong
This man... Ughhhhhhh. This has to be the HARDEST math class that i have ever taken, and that is saying a lot because i LOVE math! He is just rude sometimes and he has a comment for EVERYTHING! He has one of the cockiest attitudes ever! DONT take him.. Not advisable at all!
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He does not finish sentences, very unclear, and when you get something wrong, he gets mad at you, makes you feel dumb, when all along, it' his poor teaching skills that have you confused. you will go home without learning a thing!
Talk to fast, does not do reviews before test, Has a dry sence of humor Do not take this class
I'm not great in math, Prof.Grau followed the textbooks path, making the homework easy to follow. He was available both on campus and on line for assistance. He is fair and very knowledgeable about the subject matter. He explained very well some of the concepts that had confused me in the past.I strongly recommed him.Do the homework, ask for help.
Prof. Grau is a nice guy and I do not like blaming poor grades on a Prof, but Grau moves FAR too fast for even an accelerated math course and leaves out steps in solving problems, taking your prior knowledge for granted. DO NOT TAKE unless you plan on teaching yourself or if you don't plan on taking MAT1033 with him RIGHT AFTER MAT0028.
I took MAC1033 in the fall with Grau and got an A. If you do the work you get an A-B. Im currently taking MAC1105 and all the exams are based on the practice prob. in your book. I do all the practice problems and I get A's every test. He is a great teacher who will help at every opportunity and gives extra credit to those who do the review online.
He moves very fast, but is willing to help if you need it. He can be cocky at times, but really that is his humor, I don't think he realizes he it's kind of mean. He will work with you during office hours or online to make sure you understand the material. If you don't do the homework, you are not going to pass.
Works way too fast. The only way I made the grade I did was because I stuck to the textbook. Is extremely unclear and sarcastic when you ask questions.
Explains a concept only once, then shows many examples without referencing any of the steps again. This makes it very difficult to tell what he is doing; Often skips entire steps. Asks a question and then does not wait long enough for an answer before telling the class that they should know how to do it. Only 3 of 17 students earned a C or higher.
This guy does not know how to teach! Does not care about his students just the paycheck he receives. Do not take him go with Weaver.
Professor Grau was an excellent instructor. He expected students to put in time to do homework, which is reasonable since he teaches at a college. he was extremely helpful to me as a student, and to any other student who genuinely wanted to learn what he was teaching. I would highly recommend his class, but as a student you will have to work.
I don't like math to start with, but I don't think this teacher made the material any easier. He wasn't bad at teaching, but I think there's room for improvement on how he explains the concepts. He does a lot of exercises from the book, homework is not required although exercises will appear on the test. There were just chapter tests and a final.
He is a fast paced teacher. I cannot blame him for my bad grades, but the class average was nothing higher than a 70 or lower. It is hard to comprehend the material because he constantly jumps one from topic to another without repeating it .The majority of the class dropped out, about ten.
He is an average teacher. The reason he isn't the best is because during lectures he jumps around to different topics and doesn't always explain how they are related. If you want to pass, DO the homework!!! More than half of the class dropped out.
I've taken Professor Grau for 2 different math courses and will be signing up for my 3rd in Fall 2015. He is a very fair teacher and offers unlimited help during office hours. Classes are taught with a purpose. A lot of people complain that he teaches too fast but how else do you teach a chapter in just over an hour? Great professor!
It's college. He does teach the material; however, one has to complete the homework and assignments to pass. This is not an easy pass class. A lot of work is to be expected. The work one puts in is the grade he or she can expect to get. I had to do a lot of studying, but I ended up receiving an A in the class. The work I put in payed off.
I recommend you take another professor as this one is no where near understandable. He is hard to understand, skips around a lot, and is down right rude and dry to students who are confused or need something explained. I've never had a worse professor before.
A lot of people in my class complain about professor Grau, but they are the lazy ones who prefer someone who holds their hand throughout the semester. I am a pre-vet major and honestly I don't think I would retain anything if I had a professor like that. Grau is great. He is fair, cares about students and is pretty funny. Would take again
Very hard to understand. Doesn't go through problems step by step. Talks too fast. Never does problems on the board for you. Overall, the worst math teacher I've had in my school career.
Hard to understand Word problem kinds of math Too fast
He is to the point, which is a good thing. If you're going to waste time talking in class, he's not going to want to help you out as much. I will say one thing, it is a bit of a struggle sometimes to understand him. Even if he explains 3+ times. I feel like the reason I was able to pass this class was studying with friends. But he's isn't that bad.
If you take trigonometry, do not expect to pass unless you already understand what you are doing.
Took his class in Spring of 2016. Hands down the worst professor I've ever had/taken. Hard to understand, hand writing is deplorable (which is not good for a class that requires neat work!), and does not help students understand the subject thoroughly in such a hard class. Find another professor that teaches Trigonometry.
I've never met a professor more disrespectful in my life. He doesn't speak clearly, he NEVER takes the time to break down a topic, and catches an attitude with his students. Amazed that he even has a job as a teacher.
Had him for two classes. Great teacher. Very experienced knows where students mess up and that's where his focus is. Pay attention do the homework and you'll pass. Don't expect a grade. This is math people.
Came off as condescending at times, but I think he actually cared about each student passing. He'd engage in lengthy conversations when he passed you in the hall, showing in those times that he really did want you to succeed. Lectures weren't very effective, and he should choose a different method than the presentation program he uses for them.
Mr. Grau cares about the students but is just very blunt and to the point, which some people can't handle, but I expect from some people in the field of math/science. He's sometimes hard to understand, and his handwriting is so sloppy that I can't even read notes he posts online sometimes. He's knowledgeable and willing to help out of class though.
I am very bad at math and this teacher here is awesome. He knows what he is doing and he is understanding; especially if you at least try in his class he will be there for you. Do all you have to do to pass, don't slack and you will.
Literally mumbles the entire time, impossible to follow. Always snaps at students and speaks in patronizing tone. Cannot teach statistics at all, most of the class is failing
Excellent teacher, knows his stuff. Talks a bit fast which most people seem can't handle. However, if you put in the time and do your homework you should pass without a problem. He wants you to pass so if you show up during his office hours for questions he'd be happy to help. Every test is basically the online homework he assigns.
Although he talks rather fast and material is hard to keep up with during lecture. He is always available to help outside of class. If you do the online homework's and get extra help out side of class. You will do great! He grading scale is designed for you to do well. I failed 3 test and still passed the class. The final exam replaces the lowest
This professor is difficult. His teaching style is not efficient for students to take in information. You will have to teach yourself, be prepared to put in a lot of time at the student success center. Try to avoid if possible. It's worth the drive to the Daytona campus
He talks super fast, moves quickly through the slides and doesnt explain well when you have a question. If you do have a question he will make you feel stupid for not understanding. The class avg for my class was a 41%
He was very difficult to understand at times because he would talk too fast. He does the problems through a powerpoint and by the time you would rush to write the problem down, he would go to the next slide which left me stranded on how to do it. During class, if he called on someone and they did not know the answer, he said they would fail.
Absolutely horrible. Never again will I ever take a math class with him.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst professor I've ever taken a class with, avoid at all costs.
I highly recommend taking his course for survey in mathematics. I literally didn't do any of my work maybe till the last month of classes and still managed to pass. this class is not hard in general it goes on your own knowledge. he is really not a tough grader he grades on what you provide for him. stay on top of your work if not you will fail!
he talks fast in class so get used to it. However, he will go out of his way outside of class to show you everything you need to know. he will break the material down 1 on 1 and work with you. He is very smart and sometimes forget who he is talking and you have to tell him to slow down he will. he is awesome and cares about his student A+
DO NOT!! Hands down the worst professor at DSC, this man literally grades every project like an essay. Make sure that whatever you turn is in absolute tip top shape because he took points off my assignment because the way I did my math didn't add up to the way he did it. If I could give 0 stars I would! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU LOVE YOURSELF!
He gives clear feedback on the projects that he gives so it gives us the ability to retake these projects.
Rude behavior towards students who do not understand material, talks fast and is not clear with his words. HANDWRITING IS AWFUL. Gives tons of homework assignments and quizzes
He can be rude to students who did not understand the material, despite have AWFUL handwriting and does not give clear or thorough instructions on how to perform a certain task. Unless you have free time for tutoring, you will have a hard time understanding his course because the does not slow down or stop to help you understand the material.
he is a very smart guy and knows what he is doing. take the time to understand his teaching method and youll be fine. make sure you take the time to study after class and review the material before the class. i passed with a higher score because i went to the acedemic support center for extra help but either way he its a good professor
I could not understand what he was saying half the time, in addition to speaking too fast. This class features unreadable handwriting, lots of being asked what the answer is, and "you should already know this". Be prepared to either teach yourself the course material or get tutoring. I love math, but this class was miserable.
It is almost impossible to understand what he is saying because he mumbles most of his words and talks like Porky Pig. It is also impossible to take notes because his handwriting is so sloppy. Don't try to ask questions because he'll make you feel like you don't know how to do basic addition. I leave this class every time with a headache.
He was horrible, extremely rude, makes fun of you if you ask a question. His own teacher assistant didn't like him, and couldn't understand him. Horrible hand-writing, very clearly had favorites in the class and ignored everyone else no matter how hard you tried to get him to help. He always sighs and rolls his eyes at questions.
Very difficult to understand, Idk if he has a speech impediment but he has a severe mumble. His handwriting is illegible so dont even try understanding his notes or feedback. Very condescending when asking about things hes supposed to be teaching you, like its an inconvenience. Very petty if you dont do things exactly his way and will dock points
"you guys are so lucky I don't make the final". Meaning he'd like to make it his way and only his way. just know you have to do math his way in this course. Goodluck!
Mr Grau knows what he's teaching and if you can get past his speech impediment, subpar handwriting, and pessimistic personality you will do fine. The best way to do good in his class is to take notes when he goes over the homework questions, and listen to him when he tells you ways you can solve using your calculator instead of the long formulas.
He is really easy to work with especially if you just do the work. He focuses on ALEK. When you need help, he is very nice about helping you until you understand it. He is very reasonable and cares for each student as long as they are actually trying. I am giving him a 10/10 and would gladly take him again.
