What a grumpy old fart!! He makes mistakes in presentations and then won't admit it, even when you prove it. He scores YOU wrong for HIS mistakes!! He insults students and seems to enjoy it. He has no syllabus, so you NEVER know where you stand as to a grade. However, he does know his subject.
This guy would be an excellent instructor if he'd lose the grouchy hard-ass routine. He's knowledgable, passionate and he really cares, even though he tries to hide it behind that curmudgeon facade. The crabby old guy act gets old fairly quick and makes it easy to lose interest in the class.
This professor is GREAT. He actually keeps you on your toes during the entire class. If you're looking for an easy grade, this isn't the class for you. He expects you to be in class everyday and on time, and with good reason. He's absolutely WONDERFUL. He's knows what he's talking about and will explain the subject until you get it.
Greenberg is one of those teachers that has obviously failed at something he really wanted to do, and now is forced to teach and takes out his bitter resentment on his unfortunate students. He based the majority of our grade on LSAT questions!
This guy thinks he knows everything. Plus he thinks he's funny. He acts like he's Don Rickles...except Rickles IS funny. He blows through the subjects and gets very irritated if you don't understand him the first time through. His shrill voice gets old after the first hour. He's extremely unorganized also. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS!!!
fast paced, funny moments, loves to use power point, few test.
interesting class-sense of humor
Great teacher, he is fast paced and interesting. Doesn't give homework or use a book. He loves what he does and is very good at it.

its not that hard.
gives power points to help you on the test and textbook are not even expensive.
Grumpy? Yes! Funny? Yes! Knowledgable? Yes! I enjoyed his class. You have to do the work and pay attention in class. He cared if we got the point of the lessons and would reexplain if it was necessary. If you're sensitive, he is not the professor for you.
He will make you think and see thing in ways you would have never known you could have thought. He just tells it just like it is and never suger coats the truth. His class may be a little hard, but you will learn so much more in life if you take his class.
He is the WORST teacher I ever seen. It's very hard to get good grade on his take-home quiz because his questions are unreasonably hard as he never covers in his lecture or text. He tells his students to go internet to find answers, so students are not making good grade. Class avarage of 2nd quiz was 66(D). He is very disorganized (no semester sche
his tests are absolutley impossible. Sure theyre take home but youll end up taking the 150 question test with 4 books open and ur laptop n still not find the answers. He rambles off on diffrent subjects oppose to what you should know for the tests. You get NO HOMEWORK and NO QUIZES just 3 test which are killer. Hes really smart but its hard.
this guy is extremely smart and his lecture are totally for advance student..he might sound really mean but he is really nice once u get to know him..for the test u should form groups, his test is straight from the notes and book..for the final u really have to understand the concept.I got an A and I always work by myself..at HARBOR HE IS THE BEST.
Worst teacher I have ever had. He tests on stupid facts instead of the actual philosophy. Goes off about card tricks and optical illusions in his lectures. Tests are ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Great teacher. Passionate about the material being taught. Excellent instructor!
He is a great teacher. He really keeps you interested in the subject and makes you think. This class was really cool. Do the reading and take notes and you will do great. You will enjoy the subject. Do not listen to the other dummies that wrote negative comments they don't know what they are saying. Take him you want to learn and get a good Grade
REALLY ENJOYED HIS LECTURES N HE S A KOOL DUDE , 3 TAKE HOME TESTS BUT YOU WILL NOT FIND MOST OF THE ANSWERS IN THE READING MATERIAL, WANT 2 LEARN TAKE HIM IF U R CONCERNED WITH UR GPA DONT. CUZ I READ EV THING HE ASSIGNED ATLEAST 2-ICE N ALWAYS WENT 2 CLASS ON TIME N ALWAYS PARTICIPATED AND WORKED VERY HARD N STILL GOT A B
He is the best teacher ever. I took his class during a winter session, and i had the best time. At first he seems to be intimidating, but he is not , he is a cool dude. He will make u work kind of hard, but it's not thas bad. Take class with him. You will a good time, if u have a good sense of humor......
his class was pretty ****, all you have to do is take notes, there is no homework. you just have to read this book thats not even that long. the test are take home alot of people worked together on them. i final wasn't hard at all. if you do the reading & take good notes you'll pass.
Okay, if you are a philosophy major take this class because you will learn a lot. Now, if you are NOT a philosophy major find another teacher because his class is too hard for an introductory class. His tests are take home but most of the answers aren't even in the book.If you are an A student you will have no life taking this class.
Kinda crazy which makes it really interesting. never a dull moment in his class. Tests are take home. Just read the book. The book is interesting too. Nice spin on philosophy.
He knows what he's talking about, however, it is kinda intimidating to ask him questions and/or propose an argument against his position. There are times when I wanted to drop the class because of this but just stick in, it'll be rewarding at the end. Test are take home(thank god for that!)Easy to get a B, it takes paying attention to get an A.
This man is hilariuos!!! He is always hollering and he loves to talk about random things that take him completely off of the subject matter. But if you take the class, you may want to find the text in which his copies are from and rent it. I got an A in the class but only because I found the text and I didnt rely on the notes he provided.. Useless
This had to have been the worst professor I have had. He is arrogant and goes off topic all the time. I would have to say that I did not learn anything from him whatsoever. STAY AWAY, find another professor.
A self-proclaimed socialist who teaches a class with take home tests. He's loud, crude, rude, and a dude you want to take if you want to be entertained in class, then to find out the whole class got a D on the last test. Luckily, I got a B overall. He's a good guy though, just enter this class with caution.
Oh man, this teacher is pretty boring. he goes off topic a lot. he's hard to understand. i dont recommend if you have any actual interest in philosophy. but if you just want to get by. you should take this class. he gives the questions to every exam. go home read the chapters answer the question. you'll be fine.
Okay let me start off by saying that I have a 3.9 GPA with 47 units completed. Paul Greenberg is by far the worse teacher I have came across in 3 years at Harbor college. His tests don't make any sense. Yes they are take home but you cannot find nothing in the book. Every rating about him are entirely true. I just wished i didn't take him.STAYAWAY!
This teacher is very boring and does nothing but lecture in class all day long. We do not use the books at all and assignments are to be done on computer. He makes us all buy his son's book instead to write an essay, and does not even go over the said book in class AT ALL! I think this teacher needs to retire or learn better communication skills
Just like the others say...STAY AWAY! This class is GREENBERG PHILOSOPHY 101...He was so horrible and shoved his personal opinion down our throats the whole class...if you like to be told your an ignorant idiot and take tests that he didnt even make himself- then this is the class for you!
Greenberg is not the nicest person in the world, and not necessarily the best teacher, but honestly, I found his class, interesting. At first he seems really harsh, so don't take this class if you are easily offended but he does have a way of getting his point across and teaching a lesson. This isn't an easy class but it is worth it, if you try.
Greenberg is a twofaced dog. He with lead you to belive that you are doing well then hose you at grade time. He is offencive, rude, and bigoted. Those are his good qulities. If your looking for a grade stay away from him. If your looking to learn somthing take his class. Overall I would say avoid him like the plage. Not a good instructor for the wea
Greenburg lies. He you look you in the eye and tell you are straight with him then hose you grade wise. Avoid him like the plage. His best quality is his rudness. God forbid that anyone express an opposing veiw.
Avoid at all costs. Makes you buy his son's book and then it was never used.
He is an excellent professor, only gives you information in simple words that you need to know(for tests), stands by for answering your questions. You should be able to submit all homework. The homework and repeated readings (not much volume but deep)are very important because you will be tested on them.
I guess this class isn't for those who are sensative as myself. I tried to bare with his class, he can be kind of harsh. He told us to purchase a book his son wrote that I haven't read at all. I don't like this class at all.
I did not enjoy his class at all. I find that his class is for more advanced students or those students looking to major in Philo...So I'd suggest that you have prior knowledge before entering. He made us print out chapters, I went through two very expensive ink cartridges in about 1hr. He's loud, hot-headed,kind of funny, STRICT!
mr greenberg was the hardest teacher I have came across. He is very loud and yells during the entire class. He is very rude. None of his lectured made any sense. We didnt have a book. he made us print out all the chapters it was so expensive. The test are very hard. And he lectures the whole time and he even goes over. and then when we try and
I took him for summer session, he was very straight forward, tests were take home, and no homework. He was strict about being punctual to class. He was pretty funny and overall cool professor.
Greenberg is a great teacher. Yes he is loud, picks on people, and obnoxious, but he is helpful and nice. Take home test are somewhat challenging just because its based on lectures and book, not on our logic this is because we are being tested on philosophers an their beliefs. I love this class i learn alot!!!
Even though I didn't receive an A in his class, I have to say I absolutely loved him. It was a class I looked forward to. I found him hilarious. He never picked on me, if you were an idiot, he would. I learned a lot, it wasn't all about the points or grade, I took a lot of knowledge out of that class.
He's a great teacher. He can come off kind of intimidating, but he just really wants you to be serious about the class. He's always willing to answer any questions. It can seem like he's picking on people sometimes, but he's really just trying to get people to understand the curriculum. He's a really funny guy and I enjoyed taking his class.
Coolest teacher I have ever had. Knowledgeable of seemingly every subject possible, thorough, and concise. Boisterous, one can hear him from classes down the hall-very involved class. I was stoked to go to class every day. Very informative and I recommend him to anyone that wants to have their mind pushed in directions unimagined before.
Avoid this teacher, he goes on rants and off topic all the time during his lectures talks about his life as a teenager and how lazy students are today. It was torture to have to sit through his class. Over 75% of the class dropped before midterm. He does not believe in God and if you do then he will hold that against you.
Warning!!! You will most like fail this class. The take home tests are incoherent, when asked the professor stated. “To make it so it’s not easily researched on the internet.” The tests are so vague no one understands what is being asked. He brags that no one has ever gotten 100% highest score is 82 a low B.
He's a cool teacher and really wants you to get involved and use your head. He feels students should take learning seriously and rightly so. The only problem I had was that he always went off talking about poitics and how being a super librel is the only way to be. You can have you rown beliefs but don't use your position as a teacher to preach.
Not as horrible as some have said. He can be a bell-end, but definitely delivers all material required for tests. Homework and tests were easy, except for the basic definitions that were to be memorized(verbatim). Some concepts in philosophy are difficult to grasp, this is no fault of Mr. Greenburg. Softies will be offended ^<underline>^.
Greenberg is the best teacher EVER! Yes, the class is hard but it is challenging in a great way. If you are sensitive you might not get his sense of humor. I think he is super funny, knows his stuff, and it does seem like he goes off on tangents but, they all tie back into the topic. I love him and his class!
GREAT teacher! Vocab tests are a must, it is all memorization. Do the work! You can easily go into the final with an A if you do the homework he assigns. You really have to be lazy in order to fail the class. He has a great sense of humor and such an amazing outlook on life,he puts things into perspective. Best class I have ever taken!
If you want discussions and sharing of ideas, don't take this class.
One of the worst professors I have ever encountered so far. Likes to pick on students and humiliate them in front of the class and make them feel STUPID! This class left me feeling f*ckin horrible because he put me on blast in front of the whole class because I didn't understand one the damn vocab words.
Unfortunately this professor/teacher can be quite condescending toward students. Whether or not he's aware of it is another story. When asking for help do not expect useful replies in most cases. Maybe he's a different teacher when in the classroom setting, but watch out if taking the online. Philo is not an easy subject to begin with.
This class is by far one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. The material is confusing and it is not taught. You have to read the book multiple times and try and understand the material on your own. If you have questions, he will answer them. There were errors on the online test.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE!! Save yourself the headache. The material is not taught. There is no useful info in the modules. The tests are so difficult and confusing. Even if you study it does not help. I PROMISE you. Take this class in person.
Everything is online. You will need to read everything Paul gives you if you want to pass. You can pass if you do all the assignments, to get to a B you will need to be almost error free. This Call is very confusing what to study, you will have to look ahead to know where you need to stop.
Mr. Greenberg's Classes Was Very Knowledgable, Inspirational, and Motivational. He Made An Effort For Us to Open Our Eyes and Our MInds. To Think For Our Selves, to Question Everything That There IS. Helped Understand That Words Could Have MAny Meanings Bur One, To Be One Of a Kind. He Made Learning Philosophy Fun, Exciting, and Memorable.
This is one of the most unorganized, confusing professors I have ever had. Don't take his class.
I was so excited to take Philosophy the semester I joined his online class, but unfortunately this professor isn't interested in teaching you about Philosophy. I learned more about his life and family than I did any of the material. There are NO lectures or teaching of any short being done. Save yourself the frustration and don't take his class.
You're on your own for this class. Lots of homework.
Greenberg's class is good. Perspective is one of the greatest things I learned in his class. However, he doesn't make it easy. His in-class course had a lot of take-home exams that were still difficult. He secretly encourages group study to do tests but I believe it's just a strategy to get you to talk more about philosophy.
Philosophy is tough for some. Greenberg gives you everything you need to ace the course. Do those things and you'll do well. Don't expect to just phone it in, the course requires much critical thinking. If you don't understand something, the Prof. responds quickly. Tests are tough (because they're supposed to be) so study up. Overall, glad I did it
Mr. GreenBOOGER. There is so much to say about this professor. Firstly, I recommend no one to take this course online. Especially by him. Do not expect him to give you any good and helpful feedback. He does not lecture. Expect him to change the dates for an assignment at the very last minute without warning. Also, he is not specific whatsoever.
I gave 10 hours/week to this online class. The homework/tests weren't always correct so I had to spend additional time reviewing/double checking all the assignments. If I did ask a question he often gave a round about answer. There's a lot of homework & reading/studying is a must! I did the extra credit, all the assignments & it didn't get easier.
I am a great student. I study, turn in every assignment and I actually try in the classes I take. I received a C+ because the tests were ridiculously long and somewhat redundant, there was no organization to the class whatsoever and there was hardly any interaction with the teacher. When I did speak to him, he was very condescending. Booo! DONTTAKE
Took his class for summer 2017 there is a lot of work and things are due almost every other day but his work is not hard test are passable but hard some times i would recommend you to take him a lot of short essays dont matter how long and a few test
Not a tough class but it's very time consuming due to the readings and assignments. Make sure you go back and double check the answer key to the tests because you might have gotten some of the answers right but there are mistakes in his answer key.
If new to college, a special needs student, or not the best student do not take this class online! The textbooks are old, difficult to locate. It's the most difficult class I've ever taken. Assignments everyday, the tests are beyond difficult and do not coincide with read material. Professor responds. I'm a A student who received a C, unreal.
Tests are long and hard even if you take the time to read the textbook and watch the lectures. If you're someone who has a learning disability don't take this class. Doesn't give accommodations. Makes philosophy much more boring than it is. Textbook is long and many questions on test hasn't been gone over. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
This class was not worth to take for just a few more credits. I'm glad I know I am not the only one struggling in this class. Lectures/power points/textbook is so heavy and the tests barely correlate with the lecture. There's a test every week worth of 40+ questions that barely touch base on lecture. A regular A student with a C grade.
DO NOT under any circumstances take him for philosophy. I learned more about Socrates from a 10 minute on video on YT than him. Lectures are boring. Not good at explaining. Worst part, questions on the tests aren't from lectures or notes. Makes philosophy WAY harder than it has to be,Don't take him, you've been warned.
If you like philosophy, PLEASE do NOT take this professor. Not only is he extremely boring, but he's also terrible at explaining things, and when he lectures you're so confused then he gets upset when you don't answer his questions. Tests are hard and have very little to do with notes or lectures. Barely passed with a C, usually a B, and A student
Taking his class made me reconsider my major which is philosophy. I've noticed that many questions on the test were not on his lecture notes nor his actual lecture. Passed the class with a C minus, told me he was being nice passing me cuz I needed this to graduate. Very rude, very mean, very boring, don't waste your time.
I had interest in philosophy before taking this class now I absolutely hate the subject. This class was so hard I cried when I got a C because I thought I would fail. I've never failed a class before hell I've never even gotten a C.... This class was terrible do not take him. He's so mean and so rude for no reason
Todays' the last day of class, here are my thoughts, class is dull and boring. Video lectures made me sleepy and questions he had on the test were hard, most of them weren't even from lecture, even when studying I got D's and C's on test. Thank God I passed with a C. Don't take him if you like philosophy or don't want a C or lower on your transcript.
Took this class during the outbreak, needed a few more units to graduate. Thought this class would be interesting and fun. Worst decision I've ever made. It was unnecessarily hard and watching his video lectures made me grateful I wasn't in his physical class ,it was so so so boring. He's so bad at teaching, please don't take him,you WILL regret it.
He's not a bad guy, he CAN be helpful sometimes but it can come off as rude and mean to others. He's just bad at teaching the subject. Makes it not only boring but difficult to understand many of the notes. Class was very hard. Don't take him or your semester will be "Will I fail or could mange to pass with a C?" Most of the time its a C or D
Want to learn? Like Philosophy? DONT TAKE THIS CLASS THEN. I just took the online class during Covid-19 and this class made the year of 2020 even more stressful. Each assignment you'll be like "Did I fail or get a C." I get A's and B's, this class, D. Shows you how difficult it is, I regret taking this class, don't make the same mistake I did.
Eureka! I have found one of the most challenging class that I have taken so far during my time at LAHC. I spent hours up reading and studying and watching the pre recorded lectures and I got a B. Get ready for a lot of tests! His test are based on concepts that test your knowledge. Never use "i" instead of I. lol. Anyway, I like this class a lot.
Terrible teacher. No hints of care for his students and many of his assignments revolve around him. Yes, I took quizzes about HIM, answering peculiar questions about what his favorite actor is. He also mentions that he can change due dates at will, demonstrating a lack of structure for the class and disregard for his student's lives.
There's a lot of reading. You have to read the syllabus CAREFULLY, because it's part of the quizzes and tests. The topics are very interesting to me but sometimes the questions in the discussions are hard to answer in my opinion. I still passed and got a B. the class is also very challenging.
Very tough and poor teaching style. Prompts to his assignments are unclear, which means you will most likely be wrong. His announcements to the class are condescending. He creates more work by having to submit assignments in two places. The Canva layout is super confusing. Using an AI for anything is a no-go.

I don't think he's a bad person by any means. I don't agree with his teaching methods. I took his class asynchronously, and I got quizzes that asked personal questions about him. I was expected to find the answers through reading the syllabus, which is tedious. I was also asked to find the hidden F's through the syllabus?
The slides are fragmented thoughts—swiggly-shaped (yes, the sentences are swiggly)—with random images, different fonts (big and tiny), & no order. Canvas is MESSY, he violates his own syllabus, is self-important, & condescending. He's not there to teach, but to make himself known & dock students for not analyzing his favorite color in .001 pt font.
He is awful. At the beginning, all he posts about is himself, and it's a grade to figure out stuff about him All he does is accuse you of using AI just because “evidence wasn't cited.” I received an F in his class, and when I asked him about it, he gave me a serious amount of attitude! Take my advice and choose a different teacher!
Professor Greenberg isn't a bad person but I do believe his teaching style (at least online) is genuinely horrible. His slides are all over the place and the questions on the quizzes are confusing, leaving you to get a somewhat ok grade every time. He does accuse his students of AI on every discussion post which is pretty annoying.
Not a bad person, but grading is extremely harsh. I did all the readings and slides, yet tests were still confusing. Accused of AI use even when none was used. He clearly cares about students learning and wants them to take the material seriously. He means well and is passionate about this topic, but he makes the class harder than needed.
