Easy and booooring. Also, the course DOES NOT count as an elective for finance, so pass on it. Gives pop quizzes with no notice, but all questions are straight from the material.
Horrible. Thats all I have to say.
Very confusing, unless you are an insurance salesman avoid this class. Half the people don't show up to class its so boring. AVOID AT ALL COST.
good class if you are interested in investing. boring if you aren't. The class is very easy if you read the book. Online quizzes are easy, pop quizzes are to check attendance, show up and you get a 10/10. i thought it was easy and interesting.

teaches because he WANTS to, not because he has to. Actually interested in the material he teaches and passing useful knowledge on.
Very good professor and class, you learn a lot, and he is extremely helpful!
He is a very good professor, and always willing to help the students. You can tell he knows what he is teaching. He makes it interesting, and this is stuff everyone should learn! Take this professor! Even if you aren't a bus. major!
Not a required course for any major, but he teaches skills you need for life. In the long run it can save you TONS of money! Teaches you a lot about personal finance, and it's not that hard of a class.
ICF was not meant to be an easy class, but if you're a finance major, you have to take it. He gives you a lot of opportunities to earn a higher grade. You have to actually WORK in this class, but it's good information. He likes to tell war stories too.
This is the hardest class by far in Finance. He really knows what he's talking about but sometimes goes off on tangents about CNG. Stay on top of the quizes and go to class for pop quizes and they'll boost your grade!
good class to take plus he gives a sick curve for your final grade
Very helpful teacher. Gives info of the real world which I needed. Also he gives a great big curve at the end!
Knows what he's talking about, and it shows he enjoys teaching. Personal Finance is a very useful course that can help you in your daily life.
Purposely puts questions on quizzes that he knows you will miss so they can be discussed in class. Gives extra credit quiz to make up for it though. Some test questions seem like they have more than one correct answer. Curves at the end. Uses +/- grades.
Doesn't teach you how to do the problems in class, just goes over the Wall Street Journal and slides (which aren't on tests). Talked all semester about the big curve at the end, was a whopping 2 points... not even enough to bump you up to a plus or minus.
Mr CNG. I liked this guy, he was a great teacher. Dont' miss the quizes they are a BIG part of your grade. Show up to class and ask questions. There is usually a curve at the end that helps.
There are always more than 2 correct answers on test problems and there are a lot of oppinion questions (but you have to have the right opinion!) Take all of the quizes. He teaches like you already know what he is talking about even though you know nothing about personal finanace. But he is nice!!
This class is interesting. It will really make you think about life and get your sh*t together! Gregg is cool during class but talking to him afterwards is like you are not even in the convo. He talks way over peoples heads and make you feel stupid! But overall class is fine.
Some terribly dry material, but he does his best to make it interesting. Be prepared to do ALOT of work. MC tests with 100-200 questions. Dozens of quizzes. He tends to talk above your head and assumes you are a finance major. That being said, this class will really help you out in the real world.
The only teacher I have ever had that will always keep you in class the entire time. Material is very dry and he doesn't do much with it in class. Assumes you are a finance major. Do the quizzes, show up every now and then, he does give pop quizzes. Tests are 100-200 MC but worded very ambiguous
Boring teacher. Expects students to know every detail about everything. Thinks this class is the end all be all of finance classes. Don't take his class if you can avoid it at any cost.
Professor will help out if needed, but only to make you feel bad for missing certain questions on mid term. 2 mid terms, 1 final, and a hw/quiz grade. Thought it'd be an easy GPA booster, but once again I was wrong. You MUST study for your mid-terms. Very intersting material though, SAVES YOU MONEY!
Guy knows alot about the subj. But gives you very detailed information about ALOT of stuff (types of mortgages, stocks, etc.) I took the class as an elective my 1st semester and its the hardest one on my schedule!! Made for seniors who are finance majors.
This teacher is very educated about the information he teaches. However, he thinks everyone else already is too. There are realestate agents and stock brokers who take this class at night and still have a hard time. If you know little about buying homes, stocks, or banks, take a different class.
I absolutly love this class. He definiatly knows a lot about the subject and wants his students to know about this type of stuff. The exams arent easy, but they are not super difficult especially if you study. Do all of the online quizes, go to class, and pay attention. I recommend it highly!!!!
this guy knows his stuff! the most practical class offered. exams are a little difficult but the class is great. great teacher
Very intellectual man. But tests are long, usually between 7-9 chapters. Tries to teach too much material at a time. Hard to absorb so much necessary info because all he does is read his powerpoints. Not necessary to go to class except to participate in pop quizzes. Not an easy A.
Nicest professor at UCF!! So helpful and intelligent. The class is a little confusing but you could not have a better professor for it! TAKE HIM!!!!
Very knowledgable in his subject, but also assumes students are as well. Tests cover AT LEAST 5 chapters with a partially comprehensive final at the end (200?). There is ALOT of info to know for each chapter and its hard to keep everything straight. The class will help you out in the future though.
a lot of info at one time. make sure you do the quizzes!
Stellar class taugh by the best!! He has real world experience and does an excellent job teaching in the class room with it. Study online quizes for the 2 tests and the final that you will take. He is very clear, although he uses everylast second of class.
Great class, Great guy. hard, long tests. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS!
Best finance teacher I've had
Very hard class/subject/teacher but willing to work with you to no end, very forgiving, stick out the class even if you're doing bad, I learned more in his class than all my other classes combined, really great guy/interesting class.
Very valuable class, but not a very nice guy. If you pick everything up right away, you'll be fine. But if you ever need help of any kind, don't plan on getting it from him.
He tries to save the last penny!! For an elective, the difficulty level is extremely difficult. Take a different elective course!
He is a very good teacher! You will learn a lot in his class. He gives random pop quizzes but not very often. All the notes are online so you dont even have to go to class that often (but it is recommended). As long as you do the online quizzes, read the online notes, and read the chapters you'll do fine. Overall a good class esp. for fin majors!!
Professor Gregg is a very good teacher. He gives you VERY valuable informtion in a very clear and specific manner. His powerpoint slides are easy to follow, as well as posted online. Even if you dont attend class, studying is a breeze (however you might miss one of the 4 pop quizes through the semester. He does give a lot of WebCT homework.
Great info, but relatively tough. Prof is a real jerk who refuses to go out of his way to ever help anyone.

Good teacher, genius when it comes to finance. Hard freaking class. Not a very nice guy though, wasn't very helpful to me. You take 2, 100 question tests, both of which are extremely difficult, and 1, 200 question final, also extremely difficult, he curves the second test and curves your final grade, not final test, mine was curved 7 points.
Good teacher, knows a lot, and is very helpful. Go to class and read the power point notes and chapter after class. Print out the quizzes to study from. Curved second test and final grade.
Paul Gregg is a good teacher. He really cares for his students and that they understand the material is presenting. He a lot of times speaks over the class' head I think though. It is a LOT of information in a short amount of time. Tests are long (2 100 questions and 1 200 question final). Beware of LONG powerpoints. If you work you can get an A
while this class is helpful it is difficult.as long as you have the book you dont really have to go to class but it helps. the online assignments are annoying but they really help your grade. no extra credit. this guy knows his stuff. BUT his test are HARD.you have to study for them!! the final was ridiculous!! but he will curve it. i made a B-
This class was difficult, but only because it is soo much material to learn. The material is stuff that you need to know for the future. I thought he did a good job teaching, but his tests were tough. He curves though, so at the end it all seems worth it.
Mr. Gregg is an excellent teacher and really knows his stuff. There is a lot of material to know, but he is more than happy to help.
Personal Finance is a good introductory course for anyone. If you are thinking about being a business major it is like an overview. I'll admit his powerpoints can be boring, but all the notes are available online. The WebCT quizzes are great, you can't get below 5 out of 10, for you get to take them twice and the second time you have the answers!
Mr. Gregg is a tremendous teacher with an incredible background. He is passionate about teaching business skills to his students. This course will help save you money in real life. Tufo
Excellent teacher, very knowledgeable regarding the material. Will help not only with the class but with advice on personal financial issues as well. Have to admit though, the tests were a little tedious, longer than necessary.
I recomend this class to everyone especially someone who is thinking of majoring in Finance. I loved this class and spent alot of time with it, therefore I got an A. This class covers every issue that you will need to know in the reAL world. The class also has weekly online quizzes, and pop quizes) take this class. It will save u money someday
Very good professor and is helpful. Knows the information very well. Class would benefit anyone and he teaches you ways to save money in the future. There is a lot of information to know and there are assignments on Web CT. Long tests, but you take them on Web CT, so you know your grade right after you submit it.
He is an excellent teacher, very knowlegable. He has a lot a real life experince and he is a very interesting person. I suggest anyone to take this class especially if you are bad with money!
Super nice guy. Class is boring but go to class and you will learn everything you need to know about finances for the rest of your life. Tests are fairly easy and he curves alot! Easy A.
Great class, would recommend him to anyone!
The quizes are easy. However the test are very long (100) questions. However he does curve.
If you don't go to class, prepare to lose points for pop quizzes. Easy B. Long tests, he curves.
best teacher ever! go to class to get pop quiz points. tests are long but not terribly hard. i'm a junior and got my first A of my college career in this class!
Nice knowledgeable teacher. Attendance isnt mandatory but pop quizzes are given & can really help out your grade if you're borderline. Material is easier to understand in class too rather than just online. Class is pretty interesting although it is pretty mandatory to do ALL assignments and study hard for the tests if you want to do really well.
I loved this class. It was hard, I had to study a good bit. He was really helpful, whenever I had a question that he didn't answer in class I would e-mail him and get a response by the end of the night. Be sure to go to class, he gives pop quizzes that are guaranteed 100%. Class is interesting, but he sometimes goes off topic.
If I did not have a real interest in this stuff, this class would've been awful. If not for an amazing list of crudentials he is not that good of a teacher. He KNOWS his stuff though, wow. You have to study if you are financially knowledgable. If you are, you will be FINE, just do the HW. First test is easy, 2nd is not bad, final is hard.
very interesting topics if you're interested in finance. he tries to prepare you for all financial decisions you will be faced with in your future. def. material that is worth your time
Great teacher, knows his stuff, highly recommended. Taught me A LOT. This class should be required for everybody!
Good class if u are actually interested in learning about your financial decisions from birth to death. NOT a good class if u were taking it as a credit to boost your GPA. It is my lowest grade. Gregg should stick with the CFO thing and forget about teaching because as a teacher he SUCKS. Not recommended unless very interested in finance.
Brilliant man, excellent teacher, very informative class .. I may have the course section wrong but I took him for Personal Finance & Investment
Best teacher i've ever had in college...Work but its stuff that you need to know...
Interesting Class. Lame webwork. Under the impression that pop quizzes were only to help you grade, like Extra Credit, but i guess not.Quizzes are super easy. Not necessary to go to class, unless you want the popquiz points. LONG powerpoints. Unclear sometimes, and doesnt really understand some complaints.
Great class, This prof. knows his stuff. Its a hard class but if you want to become a millionare Gregg will teach you how to do it,... no kidding.
Great teacher who knows what he is talking about. Make sure you do the WebCT HW every week. The class was somewhat hard, but he curved our final grade quite a bit. Very good class to take for any student.
If you're interested in business then it doesn't get much better then him. He knows what he's talking about and wants his students to not only do well in this class but always succeed in business. Do the webct quizzes, study the powerpoints and defintions. Random quizzes, but i didn't go to class that much and i never missed a quiz and got a B
Hands down one of the best professor's at UCF. Long list of credentials and teaches you real world information regarding your personal finances. Highly Recommended!
Professor Gregg is a fantastic teacher. His class is the reason why I changed my major to finance. Not that hard of a class, I took it over the summer semester and will get an A. Tests are very long and tedious, but not too difficult. Overall a very good teacher who will help you succeed in any financial situation.
very easygoing teacher and very helpful. extremely hard tests. print out powerpoints and read the textbook! offers pop quizzes to see who is coming to class...if you miss them they count against you!!!
He is a great teacher and an excellent with finance! YOu will learn so much in class yet it requires some work. Take the weekly webct quizzes, and go to class because not only is it interesting, but he does random pop quizzes that just boost up your grade. The tests are hard but duable... He is very helpful and fair
I felt that there was too much covered in the class. We had a comprehensive final over 19 chapters plus a time value of money chapter not in the text. Class was interesting, but I found myself more trying to memorize everything than actually learning.
He talks as though we all have a background in finance when in reality, I took the class to learn about it. I studied like never before for the comprehensive final and got a 68%. It is real world material, but it's very hard to follow along unless you have an idea of the material covered before hand.
Probably the best class offered at UCF. Although it's not an easy A the class is very broad and detailed but includes info that you need for the rest of your life. Recommend printing the slides but if you want to learn about $ this class is crucial.
Professor Gregg is a good teacher, interesting to listen to. The class information is so important for the rest of your life, so I recommend you taking it, however it isn't an EASY A. A's are definately possible, as long as you do your quizzes every week and do alright on the tests. The final average was curved 6% when I took it.
study from the powerpoints all the questions come from them, didn't have to use the book at all. tests are long but not that hard, he curves second test and whole grade at the end
Other than being a great class, I'll tell you the worst of it. It's a LOT of material. Night class never got out earlier than 9pm. It's not an easy A elective class. He uses a lot of business vocab. in lectures that may be hard for a non-business major to get. Good to have a friend to study w/. Nevertheless, go to office hours, very helpful there!
Gregg is the man. Everyone in the finance department knows this, and every student who has taken him will swear he knows his stuff. The people who complain did not take the time to learn the material. It is ALOT of material. Personal finance is very in depth in topics and you need to develop some sense of motivation to learn. Tests are mildly tough
Class was amazing. Everyone should take it, the stuff you learn is so important. It was rewarding. He was chill.
Prof Gregg knows his stuff. His class is not all that bad. Study the slides and do the practice questions on the internet and you should be good for the tests. I didnt use the book at all. He curves as well which is nice. Take him!
Great class for business/non-business majors. He knows his stuff, and is a genuinely nice guy. He gives pop quizzes and as long as you turn it in you get full credit. Only downside: the tests are long and cover so much material it's almost intimidating. It really helps to buy the book and crack it open every now and then. Overall, great class/guy
Absolutely the best professor ever! He is very smart and genuinely wants you to learn and know this stuff no matter if its for a career benefit or a personal benefit. Take him!
This guy was CFO for some big companies. He not here for income because his dream job after college fell through like most professors seem to be. He is very enthusiastic and genuinely loves teaching and he shows it. He is also very smart in almost every financial topic and will gladly share anything you need to know for real-life applications.
Great professor and a great class. Everyone should take it. His lectures are very interesting, great stories (and he's a UCF grad). Extremely knowledgeable on the subject, and willing to help students at every opportunity. I wish he taught more finance courses here.
Excellent teacher, you can tell he really has a passion for teaching, he is sucessful himself so he knows what he is talking about. You have to study, but as long as you do you will get and A or B
Gregg is a genuinely good teacher. He really cares about his students and wants them to learn. This class covers a lot of material and isn't easy but you do learn a lot of stuff that you will use throughout your life. It can be pretty time consuming but if you work hard it can be extremely rewarding. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
price waterhouse
Mr. Gregg is a very nice guy. He is very helpful and really wants you to understand the material. Also, everyone should take his class, even if you aren't a finance major. He bases his grades on online quizzes every week and a midterm and final. He curves his grades a lot because he understands it is difficult subject. I would sign up for him again
Mr. Gregg is a great teacher. Very qualified, which reflects in his teaching. I personally didn't have much of an interest in finance. However, his lectures are interesting to follow and is universal to everyone. Can be a bit fast-paced but I defintely recommend.
He is a really good teacher and he definitely knows what he is talking about. He has a passion for teaching and cares about your grade as long as you try. His tests are pretty easy it just depends on how much you study. An A or B is very easily attainable anything below that and you just didn't try. You will get a lot out of the class too.
Great teacher, really knows what he's talking about and he's such a cute old man, like a grandpa. The only thing is the final couldn't be more overwhelming. 150 questions over 19 chapters?! Honestly who does that. Good class, you will learn a lot. An A or B is easy to get just put some effort in.
AMAZING TEACHER and even BETTER CLASS. What you will learn in this class is priceless. He is so knowledgeable and loves teaching this class. I would take this class again, everything you learn will be extremely useful in your life. His quizzes and exams are not too easy.. so be prepared to study. Overall, one of the best classes I have taken at UCF
Very interesting class, easy to pay attention, useful with life. I made an easy high A just paying attention, doing the required modules, and studying the power points before each test. Never used the book once. You must go to class (you should go anyway!) to get credit for pop quizzes (everyone gets 100%!) Take it!!
Absolute best professor, motivating and inspiring. Take this class, you need it.
This class was very helpful and I believe everyone should take this class. He really knows what he is talking about and the stories he tells you actually help you remember the information. Definately had to study but it was not that bad. definitely take him!
Professor Gregg is SO nice and he'll teach you a lot of good life lessons. BUT, I felt his class was very difficult. Online quizzes due each week (20% of grade). 2 exams, 100 questions each. The final is 40% of grade, 150 questions, covering all 19 chapters! Lots of extra credit but definitely not an easy A class. AMAZING professor, hard subject.
Professor Gregg knows his stuff. This is a great class that everyone should take. There was a lot of material but I got an A and learned a lot that will serve me well for the rest of my life. I was even able to help other people in my family with the knowledge I acquired. Read the book, use the SRM manual and study! Not an easy A.
Material is extremly easy if you even have half a brain. He's a nice guy, trys to be funny, but found myself falling asleep in his lectures. Keep up with the modules and you cant fail. Easy class, only 1 complaint, he takes ALL of the study material down during testing periods! Made it very difficult to study for final. Go to class and you'll pass.
Take this class. The information you learn will be useful for the rest of your life. The mateiral is not easy, but he gives curves and some extra credit. Hes a nice guy and will give you any help you need, but dont take this class and go in expecting to get an A. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Gregg is very passionate about teaching the subject matter and wants you to learn as much about finance as possible. With a little bit of work, an A or a B is attainable. You'll need to show up to lectures for pop quizzes and to better understand the material.
Professor Gregg is very passionate about teaching his students about the finance world. He's more focused on making you learn rather than grading you. You must show up to class for pop quizzes, and he offers a generous curve at the end so just work a little and you can get a B or an A.
Professor Gregg is my favorite professor thus far at UCF. He is passionate about all aspects of Finance. He has worked at PriceWaterhouseCooper, among other firms. He knows his stuff and is passionate about teaching his students. Attend class to get easy 100% on the pop quizzes. Study previous quizzes for tests.
Best Professor at UCF. Only thing I did wrong was take this class too early. Take it as a junior or senior because by that time you will have experienced all of the stuff he talks about. (Example) I'm a spoiled brat so I never do my taxes. But seriously, if anything just go and listen and contribute. It will be the best class you ever attended.
He is an awesome teacher. This class is very useful in for the real world. He goes over every aspect of personal finance. He is quick to respond to emails. Prof. Gregg also gives extra credit. He is an awesome teacher.
Really awesome teacher, knows his stuff. His exams are pretty easy, but if everyone does badly he curves. Teaches every aspect of personal finance and gives life applications. Looked forward to going to class every week, which says something because I was in the 3 hour class :) TAKE HIM!
He is a good teacher, but the class is pretty dull.He tries his best to go over what you really need. If you get stuck with his 3 hour class, he will let you go about 15 min early, with a break inbetween. You shouldn't have any trouble passing. He curves every test. There are 3 pop quizzes to see if people go to class but they count as extra credit
Prof. Gregg is awesome, he's been everywhere in the finance world and he really knows his stuff. I never went to class and still made out with a B- just by studying the powerpoints. He also gives generous curves, take him!!
Very easy class if you do all of the quizzes and study before each test. grade is 20% hw, 20% test 1, 20% test 2, and 40% final. tests are simple if you follow the powerpoints and study guides. I got an A and never went to the lectures but if you go to the lectures, he will give 3 pop quizzes for extra credit
Great class that everyone should take. It's vital information for ur everyday life. Quizzes due every week b4 class (10 ?s), 2 midterms (50 ?s), 1 final exam (75 ?s), and 3 pop quizzes in class w/ a guaranteed A. Generous curves for tests. For the quizzes 2 attempts allowed, and it automatically averages the scores. Take Prof. G, great instructor!
This is the most important class I have ever taken in college. Everything you learn in this class will help you with life. However, this class is not easy, so be prepare to attend class (2.5 hours) and do WORK! He teaches because he WANTS to and not because he HAS to. THis guy is worth millions and his advise on finance is GOLD!!!
This class was definitely a huge challenge for me but I managed to pull off an A :) Professor Gregg is EXTREMELY patient and helpful. He also curves the exams very generously! The information that I learned in this class will help me for life. Even if you're not a business major, I recommend taking this class! DEFINITELY WORTH THE WORK :) TAKE HIM.
Every test was curved. He said himself that most people will make an A or a B in his class. The final is actually a third midterm and and a cumulative final. I thought the final was the hardest test and usually that is not the case for most classes so keep that in mind when studying.
Professor Greg is a great teacher. I really enjoyed attending his class. He is an amazing speaker (in my opinion) and makes you want to come to class and listen to him just to hear his real life examples. His advices are really helpful. The subject is not easy, but very managable to get an A in. Take him!
terrible professor. explains nothing. worst class ever.
This was definitely one of my hardest classes, but I cannot complain about Professor Gregg. He absolutely knows his finance, and the advice that he gave every class was very useful! Be prepared to work and stay on top of quizzes and tests; it is not an easy class but I recommend it to everyone!
Mr. Gregg has a world of knowledge that he is will to share with everyone. He is very willing to help any student who ask. He curves all test, If you attend class, do the homework and listen in class you will do fine.
This class was interesting and helpful. Professor Gregg also helps to make it interesting while providing you with important knowledge for years to come. Workload was just the right amount for the course, and his hw, pop/quizzes, prepare you for his exams. I would recommend going to his lectures not just because it helps, its actually interesting!
Very relevant material considering his professional background. I wish we would have had more time with this professor versus the professor in the first half of the semester. Test was straight forward and webcourse exams were tough but very informative.
Prof Gregg knows everything there is to know about personal finance. He basically made this class what it is today. I got C's on the first 2 exams and an 84 on the final, and still ended up with a B+. He cares more about learning than your grade, and so there's a generous curve. This guy is an absolute boss, and i suggest everyone read his resume.
Professor Gregg is an amazing professor. Utilize his office hours and study sessions! Easy class (he provides all the notes in form of power points, but you should write down how to work out problems). Didn't use the text at all so don't waste your money. Easiest class ever and very informational. I recommended it to all majors!
Great professor. Class not all that easy but he will share his wealth of knowledge with anyone. Great professor. Would take with him again. He also curves tests.
Very knowledgeable and will help you with anything he can, class related or not. Very experienced in the field and one of my favorite professors at ucf. I only got a C+ because I didn't study
great teacher. I learned a lot. very helpful class, and everything i learned is very useful in the real world. As a teacher, he explains everything in perfect detail.
He is a great professor with lots of knowledge. Material is kinda difficult if you don't have interest in finance. I managed a B with attending class and reading book. Great guy and professor.
Great professor, very useful information. I'm really glad I took this class! He explained everything well and has lots of experience, all I did was listen in class, do the quizzes online, and I got an A. He puts all the powerpoints online, the book isn't needed at all!
This man is a boss. He is also hilarious, rivetingly interesting, and knows almost everything there is to know about finance. Sometimes I wish he was my own father. I will be basing many of my life decisions based upon this man's genius. Gregg, I hope you read this and see what a god you are.
Probably The BEST Professor at UCF. He teaches you all the skills you need to know to be financially stable for the rest of your life. This class should be mandatory for every major. Every class was interesting with loads of helpful information. Always stays after for questions and easily reachable.
This guy was the CFO for Time Warner, he doesn't "need" to teach to make money. He teaches because he wants us kids to know about the weird confusing world of taxes, insurances, and personal finances. Many online quizzes, answers can be found online, then 2 20% midterms and a 40% final. Go to class, take notes, you're solid. Never opened the book
Took personal finance and investments with Gregg as a business minor and criminal justice major. Today, 2 years after graduating, and 2 years into law school, this was by far the most useful class I ever took in my life. I'm a more capable human because of what I learned in that course. Great professor. Useful subject. Learn the time value of money. Gregg is the shiznit.
Amazing professor! Soooo helpful and caring about each individual's student's progress in the class. Is always available with any questions/concern. One of the best professors I've had in regards to helpfulness. His lectures are clearly and rather interesting.
Professor Gregg is better than most professors you will come across, for someone who has accomplished as much as he has, he is humble, and actually wants to help. The guy was a CFO at one point in his life, he doesn't do this for moneyprestige, he teaches because he genuinely wants his students to succeed in life. Would definitely take again.
He's an excellent professor. Do NOT skip classes. They are needed for your success in this class. He gives great lectures so it's not too boring. I didn't use the book too much but it's nice to have. Quizzes are helpful too. Study hard. He makes you work for your grade. Overall, great professor.
Took personal finance to stay fulltime, got more information out of it than most classes, good to take with Quant 1 or Financial Accounting, its alot of the same material and this class helped me ace my first quant 1 test.
Best professor at UCF in finance. This class will prepare you for the real world.
Every single person, regardless of major should take his "Personal Finance" class. It teaches you how to save money by doing the little things in life. The best insurance to buy, and knowing everything so you aren't exploited. I immensely enjoyed this class and would take again.
Old Gregg is the man. Like everyone is saying, he teaches you things beneficial to the real world. He curves every exam and his final was cumulative for a third of it, but it was fairly easy. Just go to class, listen, and learn. I ended with a C cause I bombed the first test hard, but the other 2 tests were cake if you do the SG's and simply study!
As a former CFO, he has A LOT of knowledge in all aspects of finance and its relation to life. PLEASE take this class. There was weekly quizzes on each chapter, which are a good assessment of your learning. Two midterm exams, and a cumulative final at the end. He puts massive curves on the exam. WILL LEARN REAL WORLD APPLICATION OF FINANCE. TAKE!!
He's a great professor and even better person. Mostly online quizzes and a few "pop quizzes" that are really extra credit. He gives you a 1010 if you were there to take it. It isn't an easy class and don't forget to keep up with the quizzes. He's also very helpful if you need it.
His lectures were really interesting; it was clear that he put a lot of effort into making the material relevant (though it naturally is anyway). His tests were very reasonable, though a decent portion of the material in them was covered (or emphasized) exclusively in-lecture, thus it would've been difficult for non-attenders to get an A.
CFO. For a student who was completely finance illiterate, he definitely helped me learn some stuff I never knew. It's more recommended for someone who had a little background to finance. You need to understand the terms in order to understand the concept. Tests are tough but gives curves. Pay attention and ask him questions! Extremely cool guy.
There isnt really much to say besides that fact that he is fantastic. If you have an opportunity to take this class I highly recommend that you take it!
Its hard to distinguish what information will be on the actuall exams, but theyre simple enough that you always end up over preparing. Definatly show up for class if you want a good grade. He's verry experienced and intelligent and he's one of the few proffessors I feel is teaching entirelly to benefit us. He's just wants us to financially educated
Great professor. Very knowledgable about his field. Curves grades so two thirds of the class gets an A or B. Has pop quizzes, but if you're present you get a 100 on it. Only homework is online quiz due every Sunday (answers are on quizlet). Midterms are easy, he curves them anyway. I would definitely recommend him, actually a useful course.
I absolutely loved this class. This is not just a course for finance majors, it is beneficial for everyone. Gregg is so experienced in business you actually get to learn from real world examples and it is great to hear his experiences. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn about their own personal finances
He's had many Finance related jobs and been at the top of major companies so he definitely knows what he's talking about. The class itself is so beneficial to you as an individual. There's a lot of material and some of it can be hard to grasp. He curves all the tests. Online homework quizzes every week & occasional pop quiz so go to class.
Greatest Professor at UCF. So knowledgeable and wants to help his students. Literally the GOAT of finance
Professor Gregg was very kind and respectable. Professor Gregg did his best to make sure his students understood the material thoroughly and gave plenty of chances for grade improvement. I learned valuable information in this class and would recommend it to anyone I know.
Professor Gregg teaches you A LOT of extremely useful information for your own personal finances. My only issue was he was never that clear about what to study for on exams, but exams were very easy and straightforward anyways.
Definitely take Professor Gregg's personal finance class before taking business finance! You learn a lot of material, but the information will be really useful in life. Plus if you take personal finance first, business finance will be so much easier and you'll already have an intro to the topics covered. Tests aren't super hard, but study lectures!
Really great teacher. Material is relatively difficult, but it's all important for your life ahead and Gregg is a former CFO (Chief Financial Officer) so he knows what he is talking about. Take this class!
I found this class fairly simple. If you do the additional questions and make sure to understand them you will be fine. To review for the midterms/final I just did the additional questions again. Do the homework quizzes and then find answer on quizlet because they impact your grade.
Not a finance major, but took his personal finance because it was highly recommended. Great choice! I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to become more financially literate- it's important information everyone should know, and he makes it very accessible.
Very sweet man. He gives pop quizzes but as long as you show up you get a 100% on it. He cares about his students and he can be interesting to listen to. As long as you study the powerpoint you will pass. Weekly quizzes on each chapter. If you study you will do fine.
So this class felt more like a seminar regarding your personal financial choices. I knew nothing about taxes or retirement or buying a house before this class but I now feel ready for adulthood. Tests are fine if you study and put in effort, I got 98% on all three exams. He does curve his tests. Overall, just an awesome class and awesome professor.
Great guy who really cares about the future of his students! Does have pop quizzes, but will get full credit if you show up. HW quizzes weekly. If you study you will pass, as well as gain important information for the real world.
Paul Gregg is wonderful. Sitting in his lectures is like listening to your kind old grandpa teach you valuable lie lessons. He's experienced and definitely knows what he's talking about. He cares about your grade and about you learning real world money management. Take his class, 2-3 pop quizzes but worth it to know valuable money lessons.
In all honesty, his exams are weighted so heavily that all of the homework quizzes have no real impact on your grade. His lectures have nothing to do with what is on the exams, and he never gives straight answers when asked a question. He is very conceited but is very knowledgeable. Don't take the class. It is an elective and not an easy A.
Gregg is a wonderful professor and explains course material well. The chapter quizzes and additional study questions he provides are all you need for this course. Very manageable class to pair with others that are more difficult.
An amazing prof. that really cares. There's 20 chapter quizzes (10 quest. each), 2 midterms, 1 final, & 2 pop quizzes. He also curves the midterms & the final so that the majority of the class will probably have an A or B. It says the textbook is required, but I never actually cracked it open; up to you. You will definitely learn with his lectures.
He's a fine teacher but his material is so boring. It was extremely hard for me to focus in class because he moves so fast. lots of quizzes and heavy test grades BUT he curves pretty well so you can usually escape the tests with a B.
He was a really good professor overall. I learned a lot of great information, this class is actually very practical and helpful for your life. He gives random "pop quizzes" to force you to come to class, but you get 100% on it just for being there. If you pay attention to his lectures, the tests are very reasonable. I never used the textbook.
He taught the last third of the class which was about personal finance. You have to watch the lecture videos, take solid notes, and do the practice quizzes to pass the final exam. Its a lot of information to absorb (401k's, stocks, bonds, savings, mortgages, etc.), but it'll be useful for you in the future. I kept my notes and downloaded the videos
Prof. Gregg's class is very informative and kept me interested the entire period. If you care to learn about money and how to be an educated consumer then I would strongly advise you to take his classes. He knows what he's talking about and you can tell he's passionate about it.
Take any class you can with this man. He is by far the best prof I've taken at UCF. Go to his office hours, he is a great guy and willing to talk about and help with anything. He teaches the class through great informative lectures and great stories of his personal experiences. The content is not too difficult, I got the highest midterm score.
This professor was really good, really enjoyed it and would most def take it again. You have to pay attention in class, and for the love of all heck don't doze off in the taxes lecture, you will regret it. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of skipping his class or watching Netflix during a particularly boring lecture and my grade def reflected it.
If you are not interested in finance or anything related I would not recommend. It is not an easy course, you have to really study and understand the material. He curves the exams which is amazing. Ive learned a lot and the professor is great, but dont take this thinking itll be an easy A.
He didnt round my 79 to a B :(. There are a lot of chapters to cover and the lectures are boring. Most of the quizzes can be found on quizlet but if you dont study for the test you wont pass them. He has three pop quizzes you get credit for just by showing up to class. Doesnt take attendance.
Professor Gregg's lectures were great. He explained everything thoroughly and was super helpful and nice during his office hours. I wished I attended them more. I struggle in economics and finances. There are occasional pop quizzes. The final he is super caring and gives enough extra credit to boost 2 grades up.
I took Professor Gregg's FIN 2100 class in 2011 and I still think about that class daily. This was by far the best and most useful class I ever took at UCF. I highly recommend this class to everyone as it will teach you the basics of finance that you need to know to live a financially independent and rich life. Professor Gregg is excellent!
Amazing professor. The class was converted online due to the pandemic and he did hold zoom review sessions, but they weren't mandatory. All of his lectures were posted online ahead of time and were very detailed and informative. He curves the two midterms and the final. If you're looking for financial literacy take this class.
It seems like he's amazing older man with a lot of life advice, but I wouldn't ever want him as a professor again. He explained finances in a weird way to me. Doesn't allow you to see mid-term or final after it's graded (probably in fear they will get on quizlet like all quizzes), which hindered my learning since I didn't know what I got wrong.
A really knowledgeable guy. Has a great background in the subjects he teaches. Definitely learned more in this class than any other.
This professor has a lot of life experience do not get me wrong. He is very certified and has a vast variety of knowledge for himself, I just think that the online classes did not fit for his teaching style or for what he was trying to teach. I just think he is a better mentor than professor.
Just as others have said, Professor Gregg is very knowledgeable and has a bunch of experience in the business world. But his virtual class is horrible. I believe that this class has a great amount of information that is important for everyone's future. But the tests are hard, and there's a lot of videos to watch. There are only quizzes and exams.
The content taught in this course was very informative and beneficial for strengthening financial literacy. However, I felt that there was too much information crammed into every lecture, which made it difficult to fully grasp everything. About halfway through the semester I gave up watching the tedious lectures, but was still able to earn an A.
Great professor. He gives useful information to strengthen students' financial literacy. Homework quizzes and exams are not easy but not hard. If you study a little bit, you should be fine. My only complaint is that the lectures tend to have lots of information, which can be difficult to process in one sitting. Overall, useful class anyone can take
Friendly , interesting lectures
Taken Summer 2021. I highly recommend every student to take this class, as it will vastly improve your financial literacy. 20 chapter quizzes, 2 exams, 1 final. Quizzes were easy; tests were relatively easy provided you know how to do math (he will teach you this though). Only con is that the slides look pretty old :/ Overall 10/10 class and prof.
Very knowledgeable and gives generous curves on tests.
Professor Gregg gives amazing lectures and the information he teaches is really useful, but he expects you to memorize a lot of small details and equations which makes the tests and quizzes hard. However he does give a lot of extra credit and curves every test (test 1-5 points, 2-10, 3-25) so if you study hard it's still possible to keep an A.
Life changing class. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE in college needs to take this class. Professor Paul Gregg knows what he is talking about and taking this class will set your life in the right direction financially. Take this class with him and recommend it to everyone you know.
Professor Gregg is a very nice guy, he has a wealth of knowledge and I learned a lot from his class. The structure of his class is just not the best way I learn. He is always willing to answer questions and go over information again. Mr. Gregg is very generous with curves on all 3 tests. People who are financially illiterate MUST take this class!
He manages to make such a dry subject so interesting; this is mainly because he so passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and is equiped with so many jokes and stories about it. Two tests every week worth 20%, three (heavily curved) exams worth 80%. Attend lectures, take notes, and study and you will ace the class. Effort will be rewarded.
I never talked to this professor one on one but he seemed like a really nice guy. He gave lots of extra credit opportunities and curved tests pretty generously. Unfortunately he gave almost no study material which made the tests very difficult. Lectures can be very long and boring but if youre actually interested you should do well.
Would heavily recommend taking this professor for this course. I initially took it since I needed extra credits for my semester but I'm glad I went through with it. During his lectures it's obvious he cares for his students and wants everyone to succeed in the course. Showing up to lectures is beneficial since he gives extra credit pop quizzes
Online chapter quizzes every week. 2 Midterms worth 20% of your grade each, final is worth 40%. The exams aren't easy but he always curves the mean to a B. Extra credit pop quizzes in class. Getting a B should be pretty easy, but you need to put in the work for an A. Great prof, I recommend this class to everyone. Very useful
Professor Gregg makes this dry subject engaging. Attend lectures, take notes, and study hard - the effort is rewarded with generous curves. Unstuck ai is a great study tool alongside the class materials.
Going to class is crucial most of the exam information comes from in class lectures. In class pop quizzes given for extra credit and is usually on material just briefed in class. All information is relevant and beneficial, professor has real world experience and clearly knows what he is talking about. Professor offers personal assistance
best class I've ever taken. the professor is caring, available outside of class, and does a great job making complex content easy to learn. I will say you get out of it what you put in - reading the textbook is super helpful. attendance isn't mandatory but I think it should be because his lectures make such a difference. cannot recommend it enough!
Great lectures, professor is excellent at communication information and majority of information is beneficial on exams but also outside of school. No mandatory attendance but exams are based off of lecture and slides but professor expands off all slides during lecture Extra-credit is offered randomly at the end of lecture, Great Professor and class
Interesting and interactive lectures about extremely important topics that every undergraduate should learn. Could not recommend this class more.
Paul Gregg really cares about this topic and knows his stuff. His lectures have a LOT of material, so I wouldn't recommend you take this class for an easy A. His grades are mostly on two midterms and one final, but he gives lots of extra credit! (Pop-quizzes)
Prof Gregg knows what he is talking about, his lectures are great! Generous curve on tests, good amount of extra credit with pop quizzes. Not an "easy A" per se. Attend lecture, listen, take notes, 1 day studying for exams, you will do fine. He wants at least 2/3 of class to get an A or B. Most of all, you will learn very valuable life skills info.
Professor Gregg clearly has a lot of experience in this subject and genuinely cares about his students. He gives generous curves on exams and random password-protected extra credit quizzes at the end of class. PLEASE take advantage of this! He's very approachable and caring. 100% recommend him.
An incredible professor who is clearly passionate about getting people educated on personal finance. Lectures are not mandatory, but he gives extra credit quizzes quite frequently in class and the lectures are great and informative. It's an easy B but if you want an A you should put in some work. The midterms and final are curved generously
This is the INTRO to financial planning course. The high on the final was a "C" with the average being an "F." He proceeded to curve it the least out of all the exams. He then sent an email calling people out for skipping class. Well I came to nearly every class and studied HARD and couldn't get past an "A-." So frustrating.
Passionate professor w/ real-world experience who genuinely cares about students and wants to educate students about personal finance. Honestly, just reviewing the online notes is enough for a good grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there's always extra credit pop quizzes. Exam curves are generous, definitely recommend him.
