Paul Groff has been the worst professor I've had at UM by a long shot. He wastes so much time and treats everyone like they're ten. His class is easy, but I would rather have a hard class than one where I was wasting my time.

Groff is the poster child for botanists. The class is really easy. He'll tell you that you NEED to know a TON of stuff but when the exam comes around, there's like 15 true/false and a few multiple choice about a diagram that he provides and doesn't even white anything out from. Half of the answers you can find on the exam itself. Super nice guy

There's going to be a lot of reviews saying he is an easy teacher. All I can say is that you have to learn how to study when it comes to this class. This class is pretty easy overall if you are willing to do the required reading. Lectures can get boring, but the information you need to know is marked on the powerpoints. If you have questions, just email him rather than asking during lectures because it throws him off. The final grade is based on 4 exams and 24 extra credit points from workshop.

Groff is alright. He is a very nice guy and is committed to learning each student's name by the end of the semester which is a really nice gesture. Lectures are straightforward usually and he tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam but need to read. Dr. Groff is a great professor and really cares about being fair. The class is an easy premed course but is a lot of memorization. If you at least read the textbook and takes notes on his PowerPoints you should have no problem getting an A, but def study for exams bc you do need to know the material. And the extra credit from workshops helps a ton!
