My only complaint is that quizzes and tests are the only way to get points. There is no homework collected, so no grade for homework. Prof. Gunsul explains the material so clearly and if I still didn't get it, I felt comfy asking him for help after class or online. Wish I would have had him for all my Math and maybe I would have understood Algebra. I had Prof. Gunsul for Geometry too. Show up for class though! He makes it fun too.

Gunsul is an amazing teacher. Had him for precalculus. Never really had any questions by the time he was done explaining something. He's a big advocate of understanding the concepts behind mathematical expressions and does some pretty cool demonstrations. The best math teacher i have ever had.

Mr. Gunsul is my favorite teacher at RVC! He is always in a good mood and he makes really nerdy jokes that keep the class interesting. He goes out of his way to help his students and takes every approach to explaining a concept so that everyone can understand. I still go to his office hours even though hes not my current teacher. :]

I've only been in his intermediate algrebra class a week and I love this teacher! Completely helpful and has a wonderful way of explaining things! I took mr. johnson the first time I took this class and compared to him, gunsul's teaching is like night and day. Gunsul is incredibly nice and funny, too! Take him and you'll get a good grade!

I'm just 3 wks into my 4 week module and I can already tell you that he rocks! I am not a lover of math but I am a lover of his approach. Paul Gunsul is a great teacher. Even if you don't get how to do certain problems, he has no problem helping you out. Very nice guy and makes funny jokes all the time! He's a riot! Doesn't want anyone to fail. If you struggle with math, take him and he'll make sure you pass!

Mr. Gunsul is an excellent teacher. He gives many examples and is more than willing to go over things in office hours if a student is having a hard time understanding. If you can take him for any math class, I highly recommend it.

Nicest and most helpful teacher EVER! I failed precalc in HS but still decided to take Calculus in College. He makes calculus seem WAY easier than those algebra classes lol. Quizzes every tuesday and friday but he makes you feel super prepared for them.

Best teacher on the planet. I took his finite math and statistics last year. I think he was the only one who always reviews after returned the test and quiz to make sure we understood. He was always in his office during his office hour. I wish I could take more his classes.

Incredible teacher. Always willing to help and a fun class to attend. I hate math, but his class was by far my favorite I have taken at rock valley so far! He helped me get over my test anxiety that I struggled with in all my classes my first semester and I ended up getting an A on our final! I had never gotten an A on a math test in my life!

This is the best teacher that tuition can buy! I took him 2 semesters ago and it was the best experience ever. I hate math and he made it interesting and fun. He has a positive and encouraging personality which was helpful in building up my math confidence! He will not make it easy but he will pave a path for you to follow successfully!

He brings a bit of energy to the lectures which helps a lot and shows short clips from youtube on thursdays to help break up the lectures which helps a lot. The one problem I have with him is that homework is not required or graded or gone over in class so its hard to be motivated enough to do it. If you need little motivation he's a great teacher.

If you don't understand Calculus when Paul is teaching it to you, then you just don't get Calculus. Paul is as clear spoken and fair of a teacher as any out there. I would definitely recommend him for any math class, especially the dreaded Differential Equations. He is a masterful professor. A+++++

Paul is genuinely the best teacher I've ever had. Somehow he had the ability to make Calc 3 entertaining, useful, applicable, and fun. AND in the summer no less. Take his classes. He's a great teacher. He knows so much and never once came off as condescending or annoyed. He's a rare find in the sea of professors.

Very clear about what homework will help your understanding of the material. His actual in-class explanation of ideas is top notch; he uses the black board often while answering any questions. Tests are straightforward (ie basically what's on the quizs).

He is one of the best math instructors I've had. He somehow makes abstract topics clear and also makes math FUN. He also does not joke around on exams; there are no curves or dropped exams. This makes the class a little more difficult but also you realize your grade is as fair as it can be. I'd take more of his classes if there were any left!

Difficult topic, but Gunsul is truly helps you figure out exactly what you're missing. Respectful and a true educator. No required HW (unless take-home quiz), but test-quiz problems are from the book, so do the suggested problems! Some EC. Uses old edition book to save students money! Truly cares about his students. You can tell he loves teaching.

This professor was hands down the best math professor I've ever had. What I loved was that homework was not assigned. As a result, I found myself taking my time when doing equations noon from the book, to learn, instead of doing them as fast as possible to get done with homework.

Hands down my favorite math teacher by far. If you're considering taking a math course at RVC, Gunsul is the one to take. Fantastic lectures, which tend to be quite clear and very helpful. He doesn't require homework (but by god, just pretend it is!). Great guy, available outside of class. If you take notes and study hard, you'll do just fine.

The course itself was a somewhat tough, boring one, but he made it seem much easier. He answers all questions and is interactive with the class. There's a lot of HW, but it's not too hard. Towards the end of the semester I started struggling, but I felt like he wasnt trying to help me at all. Id send him emails and would get no response even after days and with this being a 5 credit course, a bad grade really brings down your GPA. The homework grades dont even matter with how many tests and quizzes he has.

Gunsul is an amazing professor; he's probably my favorite at RVC. He doesn't teach the material by just laying out the facts and info, but he gets into the details of why something is the way it is. He not only teaches the materials for MTH 135, but he also encourages us to strive in life. He also is very humorous, which is a bonus to the lectures.

He was amazing! Easy grader, lots of homework, lots of quizzes, and tests are difficult. However, you get unlimited attempts and plenty of time for homework, and he tells you exactly what to expect on the quizzes. He is funny, caring, and he prepares you for everything. He also gives partial credit for problems that you attempt. Loved him!

Professor Gunsul is easily the best professor I have had at RVC. He makes difficult concepts easy to understand, and is a very approachable, genuine person. Calc 1 is a hard class but if you get the chance to take it with Gunsul, don't pass it up. From Youtube Thursday's to jokes during lecture, you will find MTH 135 to be a very enjoyable class .

Let me start off by saying: the 5.0 star hype is REAL. I had to drop Calc 1 my first semester at RVC with a 40% and then almost got an A when I retook it with Consul. Paul truly seems to love coming to class and teaching and it shows in his lectures. Gives very entertaining lectures and speaks to you like he's a friend rather than your boss. 10/10

One of the best professors I've had at RVC. I failed Calc in high school but finished with a high A with him purely because his lectures are easy and clear to understand. Pay attention in class, do some practice at home, and you'll be good. He's very fun and sweet as well.

Paul Gunsul was a life-saver for me! I had failed Precalc with Dr. Clark at RVC, and retook it with Paul and the experience was night and day. He cared, he taught (even when he had appendicitis one day) and he just made everything make sense. He really boosted my self esteem in math because I was very close to giving up on it. He deserves an award!

One of the best teachers I have meet if not the best. Very very helpful no matter how wacky the question. Likes to show some interesting videos on Thursdays. Very cool to talk to and down to Earth. Dr. G is a true G, he told me he reads these so, stay fresh and minty.

Just know you won't be asking "What's cal-kool-us?" in this class. If you have questions he is always available during his office hours and does a great job at explaining. No matter how 'simple' the question may be, he makes sure to give a thorough explanation. You will be glad to see a '+C.'

Great teacher and class! He is hilarious and does a great job breaking down the subject and making sure that you understand the material. He only grades quizzes and tests, but he will usually tell you what problems from the book to review and gives good examples. He made learning this subject so much easier! PS, always show up on Thursdays.

I love math, and after a rough semester in Calc II, professor Gunsul helped me get back on track. He's in the top 5 best teachers I've ever had. However, beware 100% of your grade is assessment based. No homework, only quizzes and exams. Each exam is about 20% of your final grade. He's not a strict grader tho. And YouTube Thursday!

Honestly I'm not sure why he is teaching at Rock valley he should definitely be at a big school getting big money. Best math teacher I have had maybe ever. His classroom is the definition of a learning environment: he is caring, gives clear explanations, consistent, and just uplifting to be around. His understanding of students and how to break down complex math for our understanding is impeccable. No matter what math, he'll make you understand it.

Throughout high school, my professors were unsupportive as I struggled with mathematics. One of them would yell at me when I asked "stupid" questions. After every homework assignment, I would ask professor Gunsul questions and he would always answer with a smile and try to be understanding with how someone could get confused. Thank you professor!!!

I went into this class expecting it to be extremely difficult, as I am generally not the best at math, but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think the material was especially easy, but he would explain one concept in multiple different ways to make sure we understood. I hardly ever studied more than 20 minutes, right before an assessment.

Dr. G is the best professor! He is so funny and makes lecture entertaining. Your grade is only made up of quizzes and exams but he does his best to make sure you pass. You have to do the homework to practice the material. I passed this class with an A+ and I know you can too! He is super willing to help whenever you have questions.

Prof. Gunsul records live lectures twice a week for his online students (this effort is appreciated, as most teachers use old videos) and walks you through the chapters. Very good at explaining things. Responds to questions in a timely manner and is very friendly and helpful. I hate math, he made it easy!

This professor is great, I took 236 and 240 during the summer and he made this classes so much easier, he has a passion for explaining math and he does it so good, to the point you can understand everything, i really loved taking those 2 courses with him, dont hesitate to choose him as your professor.

It took a while to adjust to the quiz & exam grading system but became manageable throughout the semester. Best math teacher I've had, breaks down difficult concepts easily and is accessible after class. Exams aren't too bad as long as you keep up with the chapters. Overall great professor who shows a passion for teaching math.

Professor Gunsul is probably one of the best math professors at RVC. You do not get homework in the class but you do get quizzes and tests. Quizzes are usually twice a week; he properly prepares you for them and they no longer than 5 questions each. He tells you in class his tests are problems that can be found in the book, same with quizzes.
