Dr. Hadavas is an AWESOME teacher... he takes his time and is very clear on how he teaches the lesson. He goes over anything you want and he is very easy going. he's a jokster too.
He is ok. He does not have much of a personality, but the class is not that bad. You just have to make sure that you study and do the assignments. I would recommend him.
If you are having trouble, he explains everything.. But his test are two parts.. the first part is without a calculator.. he also gives quizzes.. it gets annoying after the 15th one..
He's very helpful, you just have to ask for it.
He's a bit dry and stiff but opens up as the semester goes by. My assignments were all online which helped because that meant I had to do them to get a grade. I found the class harder that I anticipated but Dr. Hadavas is always willing to help out after class, you just have to ask.
Always willing to help and not dry...I was a C math student in high school and now a A+ student in college...
Maybe a little quiet at first, but that comes with being so cute (: Later in the semester the funnier Dr. Hadavas peaks out and goes so far as to provoke laughter out of you. He calls tought math problems “sticky wicked”, but only if he thinks you can't hear him. Shocking remark: hot if not shaved!
Dr. Hadavas is a great teacher, BUT...DO NOT take the "Web-Enhanced" stats class unless you are willing to teach yourself. I had him for another class and he is a wonderful teacher, but with this class, he expected us to learn the material ourselves and he only answered questions during class time.
argh. the web class,ew. on first day he said "i will not teach or answer questions- email them to your class mates" Oh and he wanted homework emailed to him Excel style.
I really enjoyed his class. He is the most helpful math prof i have ever had. Algebra is not my subject but i managed to pull off an A. The web assignments were great as well.
Great Professor!!! Very Helpful and explains things well.
Stats is a weird class to began with. Hadavas is very dry. Make sure you copy his notes becuase those are the only things that are going to help you, not the book, which I could have use the money for parking. Do your homework and don't be afraid to ask for help in class, he try to help you out.
Terrible class, he didn't teach anything he just told us to do our online work and ask our classmates any questions we had. Dry personality.
There is a Calc Free part on every test including the final. He hunts up the absolute trickiest problems to put on each test. NO extra credit. A quiz everytime you turn around. I felt like I was taking honors calculus and no one told me. Not very helpful when asked what to study for the final either.

I'm sure he would have been a good teacher if actually taught. He told us to study the following chapters before class and come in with questions. If we had none, he did not go over the chapters(class was just over). I think there was about 10-15 people in the class and like 4 of them passed. If you do take him don't take his internet/regular class
I took his internet course, and doing the assignments online was actually easier than doing them regular. The only homework that we had was to finish the assignments if we didn't in class, and there was usually a couple days before it was due. He also seemed to be very nervous when standing up teaching.
A very good professor who really knows teaching.
He was very easy to understand. Answered all questions and worked at the pace of the class, as long as you ask he will explain well over and over...again. This is helpful when you're not a math whiz and need to make sense of gibberish.
Gave the use plenty of time to ask questions before and after class. Used the math lab after class to show students how to do problems they didn't understand. If you are having trouble in math he is a great teacher to have.
Awesome instructor.
He is the worst teacher ever! DON'T TAKE HIM!! He does not know how to teach. He doesn't help you with homework or anything. He doesn't drop the lowest test grade and doesn't help for tests/final exam! He writes problems on the board but doesn't clearly explain them. Take him only if you're really a Math person!!!!
He is a nice guy but doesn't really know how to teach. He gives notes but doesn't really explain them. Tests are difficult and final is hard!
Decent sense of humor, if you ask he answers. I found the reliance on web based teaching aids a BIG help.
really helpful. ask ask ask. and he will answer. willing to help you make a 100 on homework assignments which he gives you plenty of time do. teaching though sometimes he gives you easier concepts and leaves the harder ones on homework and tests. Just ask questions and you will do fine.
Very helpful and a great teacher.
Teacher was nice and cool. He gave homework and quizzes online, and the deadlines for those assignments were very reasonable. He is a really good teacher and is very helpful if you didn't get something. i made a 100 in his class. Really easy teacher if you make sure you do all the assignments.
Awesome teacher! Gives second chances on tests, and he's clear with most of the material. Practice tests are exactly like the tests he gives out.
Easy 100!!!! If you like to do things independently, and are disciplined enough...take him...I made a 100 with no problem. The assignments he give online are very similar to the tests. Do the practice problems, and you'll ace the class!
He is not the best, yet not the worse. The homework is tons harder than the examples you get in class. The test are fair and you get re-takes if you fail, which is always a plus. Do your homework completely and it will boost your grade up. Just go to class and you should be fine.
this class was the best, all you have to do is just pay attention to what he says and boom, you will get an A in the class.it is as easy as at.
AWESOME professor. I took him for college algebra and he was super helpful. Answered all of my emailed questions and met with me during office hours. Lets you re-take all of your tests for better grades. Our homework was mandatory, but no too bad. Just a little time consuming. Had review days before all tests. All in all, great professor!
he's good
good professor, could explain a little better.
I took the honors portion of Cal I. Great professor, explains things succinctly, semester ran like a clock - lectures, tests, and quizzes always on schedule. Will take another class from him if possible.
Not a very good professor. He is a nice guy, but has the personality of a toothpick. He does not break down the material like he should, and tries to show math on a power point...if your good at math, take him, if not I would take someone else.
THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!! Tests are 16 questions and guess what 12 of them are MULTIPLE CHOICE!! Homework is not mandatory, but it will help to do the homework to get a higher grade. Class consisted of 4 tests, and 1 final. Drops lowest test score and counts final as a higher percentage IF it helps your grade. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
I hate algebra and I'm horrible at it and made an A in his class! He is simple and straight to the point! Doesn't take attendance, just 4 tests plus the final. Replaces a bad test grade (if had one) with the final. Not the most personable teacher but very helpful and clear! Oh and don't let your phone go off, he will ask you to leave class.
this class was mathematical proofs. Prof had alot of patience with me. dont do all the questions in the book and take it to him to check. he wont do it. pick a couple of questions and he will help as much as u can. USE THE OFFICE hours. goodluck
He is a very helpful man if you are not sure on something. He knows his material well and is always willing to answer any questions; there is even a whole day for questions before tests. If you do the suggested homework you'll know your stuff and do well on the four tests and final. He has a sublte sense of humor and is a pretty awesome.
The best math teacher I've ever had. he explained things very clearly gave u plenty of time in class to ask questions and if u ever needed extra help, u could go to his office and go over it with u. his tests were not easy but not hard but his final was hard b/c it is cumulative, it brought the grade from an A to a B. but besides that very helpful
He was not the best teacher but not the worst at the same time. I ended up with a B but he did not seemed to do easy examples in class and put hard ones on the test. If you are good at math take him.
Can be a tough class, but he teaches it very well. If you do the homework you'll pass the tests just fine.
Dr. Hadavas is the teacher to take if you're not a procrastinator and don't mind doing homework. He doesn't have a problem with explaining an answer. If you study your notes and do your homework, you'll ace the test. Overall, he's a good teacher.
4 tests only and a cumulative final (final makes up for one low test grade if it's higher). Quite hard. Optional attendance. If math isn't your strongest subject, take someone else.
Awesome professor! He is very organized during his slide presentations. He gives 4 tests and a final that replaces your worst of the 4 tests. He is always willing to help during his office hours. I didn't understand maybe two examples out of the hundreds he gave us. If you have a good algebra background, this is an easy A.
I am NOT good at math, but Hadavas taught well and i got an A (which is a miracle for math). The notes are very good. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you dont go you might get lost. do your hw and go to class, you will get an A.
College algebra, he's great. Pre-cal, you might want to take another professor. He's tough. His tests are tough. You've really got to put the time in for pre-cal which is surprising because he can really teach College Algebra. He is a good teacher though. Take it if you can put in the time and effor.
Not a very good instructor. Poor at giving notes and a sloppy writer. Tests are a tricky. Problems on tests will not be the same formatted problems from homework. Do not take this professor.
All tests and group work (part of your grade) are based off your note taking. If you show up to class, take notes and do the recommended homework for practice you will do fine. Dr. Hadavas is also helpful during office hours incase you need extra help. Also, he gives you the option to take the final or not, depending on your grade.
He is very helpful and is a great teacher. His powerpoints helps a lot. But he is picky about the answer on the tests and he takes off points for little mistakes.
He is a great professor. If u come t class and take notes you will do fine as long as you do all of the suggested homework he has on the sheet he gives. At times he takes test questions straight from the homework or from class notes. He is willing to help and there is a review day before the test. 4 tests and quizzes 1 week after every test.:)
Awesome teacher!!! I absolutely despise math and failed College Algebra twice and he explained everything very well. Homework is optional and attendance is not mandatory but if you want to do well you should attend his classes...Very simple class.
Very hard professor! Tests are almost impossible to pass,no matter how much HW you do,or how much you study. Lectures are easy and understandable, but tests are extremely hard. I liked math my whole life up until now. He made me despise math. Nice guy,bad test-maker. Wouldn't recommend.
Don't fully trust this website. That was my mistake I choose this professor over another. This professor does homework problems on the board and expects you to understand a chapter from 4 examples. He is a well-educated professor but he doesn't express info in a comprehendible way.
Won't complete problems on the board and tells you to figure it out from there. Final is weighted average, have multiple group projects and computer programming projects, which isn't something I wanted to do for a math class. Will not help learn, explain or teach the programming format for the project. Tests are hard, not like the homework at all.
Honestly he isn't that hard of a professor he is just not very consistent in test problems matching with problems given during class. He is very unmotivating and doesn't require much of his students. This in turn causes one to underestimate the difficulty of a subject and will probably result in one lower grade letter than expected.
Honestly the worst teacher I have ever had!!!
Great Teacher! Best math professor Ive had! He doesn't use a ton of examples, but picks his examples wisely and explains each one slowly with great clarity.
Dr. Hadavas is a great professor. He explains not only how but why so that one can have a complete understanding of the material.
Great teacher!Homework is optional, but you will do good on the test if you do it.I highly recommend him.
He is very good at teaching the material, but the only grades you will get are for 4 tests and then the final. He assigns homework, but it's never checked. Tests are hard, so you do need to make sure you do your homework forwards and backwards. He puts the slides online for the year, so print them off for each class and you'll take fewer notes.
Nothing besides test count towards your grade so no room to mess up. He makes everything look so easy until you get the test. So unless you are really good at math and can guarantee yourself that you can pass with just exam grades and no help from other assignments then take him; I for one will avoid him in the future.
He attempted to teach us more material from Calculus instead of applied math. I went multiple times to ask for help and all his response was to look at the homework. The tests were nothing like the homework he assigned and the tests are the only grades he gives. He is by far the worst professor I have had and I would not recommend him to anyone.
In-class assignments&homework don't always prepare you for the tests, which are the only grades in the class. By semester's end, the gap bt students who understand the material&who fall behind is wide as Hadavas doesn't focus on those confused in order to help them better understand the material-he waits for someone to state the answer & moves on.
Great class, all material was relevant. I use everything he taught.
Dr. Hadavas is a great professor. His lectures are clear, and he is helpful if you are having trouble. Homework is a must! If you do not do the homework you will not make a good grade. The tests are very similar to the homework problems, so if you get the homework problems correct, chances are you will make an A on the exam. I would take him again!
What is expected is very clear in the syllabus. You know quiz and test dates ahead of time. This is the second professor I have had for 1950. If you have a choice between Hadavas and Brawner TAKE HADAVAS! He is very helpful, and if you visit office ours he will make sure you understand. Very approachable too!
He starts class with what he will be doing for the week. Then he goes through the lesson with plenty of examples. Homework is optional, but I would encourage you to do it to get a better understanding. He is a GREAT professor. He has like 6 quizzes and lowest grade is dropped plus a final. If you want a easy A take this class.
Print out his PPT, go to class, fill in the missing parts, and do the homework. Test questions are like some of the homework and some of the group work. Grading: he works the problem with you, so even if you picked the wrong approach, you get partial credit for having done the work right. He has a Q&A day before tests - ask questions!
Dr. Hadavas assigned 6 quizzes and dropped the lowest grade as well as weighted the quizzes to help boost the overall grade. His lectures clearly explained the material and his quizzes were clearly reflected from what he covered in class and the examples he gave.
He requires your full attention. NO CELL PHONES or he'll ask you to leave. Gives partial credit for your attempt. Group work every week. He gives you the formulas during exams but you're expected to remember all of the calc work. I could have done better if I studied more.
Gives homework problems but doesn't check them ever. Clearly explains all of the criteria for the chapter. Dedicates a whole day before a quiz to nothing but questions and answers from the students. 6 quizzes. Lowest one dropped. Highest one counts the most. Wants you to pass.
This class is a great course for those that struggle with math. If you do not understand the material, just ask questions. He has review days and tells you the sections that you will be tested on. 5 tests and the lowest will be dropped, no quizzes. Patient, but serious. Don't laugh and goof off or he will kick you out. He's chill though.
MAKE SURE you will have plenty of time outside of class to teaching yourself the material using the textbook w/ (optional) homework before commiting. Class is lectures that introduce each topic w/ an example or two, the rest is up to you. DO THE HOMEWORK if you plan to do well. If you're not a diligent student this class may not be the best option.
Dr. Hadavas was a very tough teacher. He would get upset when the class could not answer questions in class. His tests were super hard and cumulative final with 20 questions. Make sure you have at least 4 hours outside of the class to study for his class. Also lazy when it came to helping students.
He teaches from PowerPoint slides, extremely monotone. Gives homework but its not mandatory. If you struggle with math, I wouldn't suggest this professor his style of teaching isn't a very effective one. Unfortunately if you go to Armstrong campus he's the only professor who teaches Survey of Calc.
Had a lot of powerpoints with maybe one example each. He was an okay professor but honestly who teaches calculus with a PowerPoint? He let us out early everyday but then played catch up in the end. He has question and answer days on tuesdays and exams on Thursday. Dont take him if you cant dedicate at least 5-10 hours a week for his class.
You'll learn a lot if you're focused. He is a no nonsense type of guy. The beginning is rough but if you do the homework and pay attention you'll pass easily. The margin for error is low but he switches the final exam grade with your worst exam if you take every test.
I took Hadavas for Survey of Calculus and he is by far the worst professor I have had. He is completely useless and honestly just has bad teaching skills. Make sure you are decently good at math because most of the course you have to look up youtube videos because his lectures are powerpoints and the HW program is terrible and does not help you.
I had no choice but to take him because he was the only professor teaching Survey of Calculus at Armstrong. He was the worst math professor ever. He teaches terribly and the homework website is so hard to use. Don't buy the textbook, the SMART center on campus and youtube will be your best friend in the course.
Dr. Hadavas is a great professor. This is a just a hard class overall. You will put in countless hours practicing. Please take advantage of office hours. He's one of those smart professors that can dumb something down and you still may not understand. However, he's very passionate about this subject and is willing to help you understand.
Do not take this class! Hardest class ever. He expects you to memorize everything from pre-calc. Tests are the majority of the grades and are waaay harder than the homework. I'm usually great at math and I have never struggled so hard through a class at GSU, making this the first class I have ever failed. Do not recommend.
Hes super smart and if you need help, make sure to get it early. This class requires effort.
Worst professor ever. Only had 5 grades the entire semester, 4 tests and 1 final exam. No homework or quizzes. Nothing to help your grade. Teaches from a PowerPoint and doesnt explain anything to you. Pretty much says heres the slides and figure it out. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
The other ratings are pretty acurate to what you'll expect in his class. Here are my strategies on how to survive or get an A in the class. STUDY AND DO HW! Look at lecture videos. Ask him and other professors for help Pay attention You will be fine
He is very monotone and bland so if you get distracted easily I wouldn't recommend. He grades you based off of 4 tests he gives you then the final, that is it. if you fail 2 tests its going to be very hard to bring your grade back up. He also gives a lot of homework. If you skip the home work it is extremely hard to pass the test.
He makes his notes and tests, which helped keep all the material cohesive and there were no surprises. The homework was optional but helped. Participate during class and you'll enjoy him as a professor.
I personally didn't like his teaching style. He uses Powerpoint and goes through them fast, but I eventually got used to it. Homework isn't graded so your grade is based on tests and Friday attendance. Unfortunately, my experience with him was not pleasant. Not caring or approachable. And he was very rude when I tried to contact him about my grade.
I have never struggled in a class this much - EVER. He teaches off of powerpoint slides that just give example problems instead of explaining the actual reasoning behind the problems. The most helpful resource he gave us were the online notes from another professor. He's lenient on grading, but tests are the only grades besides participation.
Attendance was mandatory on Friday's for an attendance point. Homework was not required, but you will not do well on the tests if you do not complete it. Your only grades are 4 tests and a final exam. Though, he has a grading criteria that allows you to have one of your tests dropped in exchange for a larger portion of your final exam counting.
solid professor. his lectures themselves introduce the material & go over a few problems but ultimately if you want to pass this class, you NEED to do the study guide, trust me. there are 4 tests and 1 exam, & failing more than 1 test is going to make it very hard to pass. attendance taken on Friday, but show up everyday so you aren't left behind.
If you don't do the study guide questions you are not going to pass, you have to teach the problems to yourself. He goes over a section very briefly during lectures and does not work out his problems as much as he should in examples, but the notes he gives out are very helpful. Homework isn't mandatory but advised if you want to pass tests/exam.
Your grade is determined by four tests, attendance (only taken on Fridays), and the final. If you want to pass this class, do the study guide problems. You will NOT pass the tests if you don't. He does the simpler questions in class; the harder questions are on the study guide. I ended up teaching myself most of the material.
Content isn't that difficult but you're only graded on 3 tests, the final exam, and your attendance so it's very important to show up to class. He won't answer questions about the material and expects you to figure it out on your own or with a classmate, he's very smart and likes teaching but you're on your own outside of lecture. LOTS of homework
Hadavas is the best math professor I've ever had. He makes the class easy by giving you pre-filled notes to fill out during lectures and all the practice problems you could need. This helps you immensely with the tests, which make up the majority of the grade. He also gives extra credit if you attend all the recitation classes on Friday.
