Heckman is one of the best professor's on this campus. He takes his class seriously but the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. He took the fear out of public speaking for me.

Great teacher. Very funny and is constantly telling jokes. Makes class very interesting and lightens the mood in a public speech class, which is not easy to do. Take him if you want to have fun and get a good grade while doing it.

i like this man, i think i'm the only person in class whos name he doesnt know. but i still get by. he's kind of a hard grader on speeches but it is definately a lot of fun. he makes it so that you dont feel nervous. i definately recomend this guy. he swears a lot and lets us out real early.

Everyone HAS to take this class so you might as well enjoy it! He's really funny and tells really good stories. All exams are open note, open book, open partner! Take his if you have the chance. Really easy grader... If you improve your skills you get a good grade!

Mr. Heckman is by far the best speech teacher I've ever had. He makes it extremely fun to go to class, and also makes it easier to get up in front of the class and give a speech. DEFINATELY take him if you get the chance!!!!

this clas was great. he knows how to make you feel very comfortable in front of the class. he makes a fool out of himslef to make you feel better. didnt like speaking in front of class but when was done i felt much better becasue i wasnt him. very funny man. have fun take care be nice!

This was the best class ever!!I don't like getting up in front and giving speeches but he made it so mucheasier to do it.the tests in this class are open book,open notes, and open partner.definately should take him if you get the chance, you will be glad you did. (ask him to tell the dog story)

Great professor keeps things interesting and doesnt slam you with lots of work. Grading is fair and test are there to reinforce knowledge not challenge the hell out of you

Heckman is the deal. He is a liberal, but is more than willing to listen to other points of view. He tells it like it is and will assess you on how you think, not how well you memorie facts. Great teacher who will challenge you to think of things in a different light. Coursework isn't to hard and class discussions are awesome. Ask about dog story.

First off: anyone who gives Heckman a bad rating must be lacking a soul. Heckman is amazing. Above all, he's insightful and hilarious. He'll help you whenever you need it, and he's an easy grader. He's such a nice guy that I can't imagine anyone disliking him. He's just too lovable. Best professor ever, and I wish I could cuddle up in bed with him.

Funniest man alive! Challanges you to think beyond what you already know, but doesn't make his class hard. It's easy to get an A if you know how to write an organized, intelligent paper. Makes you feel inspired to go change the world! Crazy, liberal man with lots of interesting opinions! Very intelligent!

Heckman's a cool guy. He gets a little intense every now and then and goes off on a subject, but that's just him. Three papers to do- no real research paper. Fair grader. He let's you out of class early a lot too...

Heckman is a good guy! Lets you out of class early almost everyday. Two short quizzes but you get to work with the class, your nots or whatever you want to use. 4 papers. 4 sets of journal responses. If you do them you get 25 points for each. Fair grader and loves to teach. Makes you think deeper than you normall would.

Heckman is the man.2 quizzes that he basically give you the answers to.4 papers and then a final essay question paper that are pretty easily graded.25 point notebook entrys that are given credit even if you only have one point.The entrys are worth almost 2 papers.He is also one of the funniest guys ever.I went to class just to laugh.TAKE HIM!

Take Heckman.... he is a great teacher and a funny guy. You will never ever get bored in class. He is a fair grader, and makes sure you know exactly what he's looking for on the papers. His journal entry topics are challenging, but it doesn't matter what you say. Also, he teaches you more about life in general than actual english.

Amazing professor! He is by far the most insightful professor I have had in my career here at UWL, and I'm graduating in a month! He is not concerned about grades, but rather that you have the tools needed for LIFE. Very liberal, but I like that because I am too! Never bored in class, ever. He gets the whole class talking.

Greatest teacher to walk the planet. I do not...repeat do not enjoy english classes but i looked forward to this class everyday. It actually saddens me that I couldnt have him everyday. If you get the chance take him, if you dont get the chance kidnap someone who does and take their identity so you can be in this class.

Mr. Heckman is an excellant teacher. If you have to take ENG 110, wait until you can make sure you can get into his class! He's extremely flexible, laid back, fun, and intelligent. I love going to his class!

AMAZING professor! Not too many papers to write, he's a fair grader, always has good jokes. He not only teaches english, but has great life lessons as well. He's probably the greatest teacher I've ever had. I'm sad for the semester to end :-(

I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn something and get an easy A. To get an A all you have to do is come to class, say any some comment, do one EASY midterm, and the final is a reflective paper...EASY! That is it! He is SO funny you won't be bored. I looked forward to his class every week and wish more prof. were like him. :)

THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. I am a physics/engineer major and english is my most hated subject but believe me on this. Dr. Heckman is the best professor I have ever had. Take him and you will become a believer too. Trust me!

hilarious! i would recommend him to anyone...he cancels class ALL the time...if it isn't cancelled he lets you out early. Swears all the time and often gets talking about politics which has nothing to do with the class but still an awesome teacher. Only 4 papers...as long as you come and hand in papers you'll get a good grade

Heckman is soooo funny and makes every class interesting! He is a great teacher and if you have the option to take him, it'll totally be worth it!

I was not interested in writing at all! But Mr. Heckman actually made me excited for his class everyday. He teaches more about real world than writing itself, but if you have any questions he will definitely answer them for you until you understand. Also, you will get easy points for simple journal entries. Definitely take him!

Absolutely HILARIOUS!!! Teaches you real life stuff and can teach you the stuff you need to know with as little work as possible. Loved going to class every day!

Take his class if you get the opportunity, you learn a lot more than just english. Show up to class and hand in papers and you'll be fine. He tells you how to write the papers and going to his class was actually enjoyable for me.

Had my first class cancelled yesterday with mr. heckman! He is a very interesting teacher who teaches more than just basic english grammar and writing skills. He is currently my favorite professor @ UWL!

Heckman is by far my favorite professor that I have had here at UWL so far. He teaches so many life lessons that get you thinking, and he keeps class interesting. You have a few journals to do throughout the semester, but they are basically all based on opinions. Easy A if you show up and put in effort to the couple of essays that he assigns.

He was by far my favorite instructor thus far at UWL. His class deals more with what is going on in the world. You have to write journals and reading every night but they're normally short and very easy. There are quizes every few weeks but those are extremely easy. I would reccomend taking him!!!

I agree that he is not difficult. But his class is difficult to achieve an A if your the type of student who likes straight forward grading. You have to go to class for attendance pts, must speak in class every day for more pts. I would rather have taken a teacher where I always know where i stand and can get away with skipping class.

You will love this teacher! Very entertaining and funny and also has a great perspective on life. Take his lessons and words to heart!

Definitely take him if you can! I had him for LIT 200, but I'm certain he is phenomenal in every subject he instructs. You will be missing out on an awesome experience if you opt not to take a course with him. Period.

Super Funny Guy, class is entertaining and laid back, need to attend class because you get discussion and attendance points every day, 5 quizzes on readings that you discuss, and 5 journals that he grades super easy :)

Heckman is one of a kind. My cheeks hurt everyday from laughing and smiling during his lectures. He may get a little redundant with his jokes, and actually offensive sometimes, but he never means it sincerely. Super easy class, most the time he teaches a small topic, then rambles his opinions about life for 60 min. Recommended for non-english major

Hilarious! Always laughing and smiling in class, he makes you want to come to class. Class is super easy, 4 papers that he gives you plenty of time to do, grammar quizzes every other week. I would definitely recommend if you want an easy A, are a non-English major, and are okay with being picked on sometimes. I definitely recommend him!
