Professor Hirshfeild is a nice guy...however his tests are incredibly difficult and he assigns so much reading i thought my eyes were falling out. Interesting sometimes, but mostly very boring. and he takes random attendance checks! beware!
intro course, boring at times, a LOT of reading so i went to first class and it became a lot less work after that - got a B+, very happy
This guy knows his stuff!! I learned tons about the subject and beyond. Very fair about grades. Dont confuse this to mean he is easy.
this guy is boring and his exams are pretty damn difficult..a 75/100 was an A for the first exam..he sometimes acts smart at times and keeps us til the end of the class period teaching us ****/movie when he's done with his planned lecture for the day.
Great guy! Great professor! He is VERY knowledgeable, and totally approachable. We all learned a lot- both the theory of punishment and the broader social causes and effects. Some readings are daunting, but Paul balances these out with less heavy stuff.
Quite possibly the worst professor I've ever had...always showed up late to class and his exams were impossible!
I don't know, he never took attendance I never went I got the notes from the webct because he puts everything up there. I studied off of those for tests, I found the tests easy and I got a B+ in the class after going about 30% of the time. I liked him tests weren't too detailed as other Soc Prof
Worst professor I've ever had. Has no background in subject, horrible lecture skills, rediculous exams, NO COMMON SENSE! Save your sanity and avoid his classes.
Honestly speaking..nice professor..i guess, however, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXAMS!He is incredibly harsh and his exams are completely detail oriented. Getting a grade better than a C is mission impossible. Class is super boring and he goes too fast. Worst professor i had so far. Again, EXAMS ARE HARD
This professor is not so bad! His lectures are very thorough, so it is a lot of material for the tests- but pretty fair. He is very helpful if you go see him during his office hours. He's also super-nice and very understanding! If you are interested in the subject, I'd recommend the course.
If you're interested in learning about crime in America this Prof is your man. In fact, he's THE MAN. He tells it like it is. Some other students say he's hard, but if you come to class and do most of the reading you'll do fine. He's very fair. Most enjoyable and interesting class I've had.
puts lecture outlines online
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!!! do not take him. his exams r ridiculous and he is a stickler to the rules. his exams r sooo hard and his reviews r not helpful.
I really enjoyed this professor! He had lots of outside experience with the topic so he was able to relay personal stories to make the class more interesting. I didn't feel the exams were extremely difficult as long as you did all the necessary readings and took notes.
He is a very nice teacher and makes the learning experience very fun and interesting. This exams aren't hard as long as you read the text and attend class.
Rediculously bad professor. He's always late to class, but when I came in 10 minutes late because I had drill team practice, he wouldn't let me make up the quiz he gave in the first 5 min of class. He's very biased, and he teaches consipiracy theories. His exams are IMPOSSIBLE.
Not an easy class, but you'll do fine as long as you go and read the assignments. He gives review sheets for the exams so thats a plus. He does tend to ramble on some topics and tells pretty corny jokes, but he's not so bad.
This class is probably going to be more difficult than you expect. However the teacher keeps the material interesting and attempts to maintain a discussion based class. Not a bad guy, not a bad class.
Stay away from this class! His exams are horrible and he acts like his teaching a 400 level class with the 2 page review (concepts) pages that he gives you as a review sheet that you need to look up to pass the exams. Its not that serious for you to waste your time in it. Take my advice, stay away.
IF YOU WANT TO SPEND A WHOLE SEMESTER WASTING YOUR TIME AND ANALYZING THEORIES...AND HAVE EXAMS THAT ARE HARD AS HELL THEN ID RECOMMEND TAKING THIS CLASS...OTHERWISE TAKE MY WORDS OF ADVICE AND SAVE YOURSELF BY NOT TAKING THIS CLASS!!
This class was very interesting and included a surprising amount of discussion for a 8:40 a.m. class with 200 students. It wasn't an easy A, but the class was well worth it. If you're really interested in criminology, you'll like this class.
The professor is overall a nice guy. The material is easy enough, but there's just so much to read and remember for an exam. His review sheets are helpful but ridiculous because he puts so much on it. Attendance sucks. I got an A, but barely, and yes I tried really hard. Curve helps alot.
This is a fairly easy class, do the readings, take notes, and simply understand the material. He gives review sheets for exams (3exams, multiple choice). Not a class for you, if you are lazy.
I would have to agree with the other comments. basically, dont take this if you're thinking it sounds cool and ill be an easy A.i happened to LOVE this class, Hirschfield was clear and he gave a review sheet before every test. there was alot on the review, but if you knew it all, you could ace the exam. i recommend it if youre willing to work
Good professor. A some what easy course to take. Pretty fair grader. Probably should read the book, but i got by without following the readings faithfully and i managed a C+. I'd say take the course if you have the need or desire to. Its not an easy A but its not hard either.
Great Class. If you work and use the review sheets its an easy A
This class requires lots of work. His tests are extremely difficult despite being given a study guide. I found him to be very boring and you have to go to class because he takes attendance. I would not recommend Hirschfield to anyone.
I <3 Hirschfield! He is such a cutie! This class is pretty cool and Hirschfield is funny and entertaining! Three exams, very straight forward. Take it even if its not required! :)
lots of work to pass this class, he his extremely boring, takes attendance so you have to go...three exams, gives a study guide for them but the questions are rediculous...avoid if possible - gWeg
Dear god, this guy is such a lame teacher. He is sooooo boring, his class is not fun AT ALL, and he can NOT teach anything better than the book can. He gives a lot of reading and his study guides aren't helpful at all.. you need to teach yourself the material to get an A. Don't take this class with him! He ruins a perfectly good subject.
He's not as hard as eveyone makes him out to be. He gives a great review sheet before every exam and curves generously. There is a lot of work in this class though-3 exams, one huge paper, takes attendance. Slackers need not apply.
This was such a boring class. Material started off interesting, but got dull real quick. Powerpoint slides every lecture. The material is easy to learn, just use the study guides that he provides. He takes attendance half the time. If he notices class isn't doing so hot, he offers some extra credit or optional paper.
hirschfield is so good! class definitely is interesting and i like how he has the class participate (for extra credit!). just attend lecuture (its why you are at college) and keep up with the reading (its really not much per night, just dont get behind). use the review sheets, exams arent so bad. i definitely reccommend this class!!!
this guy is the man .. definitely take this class !!!
awesome class. take it with hirschfield!
agree with the comments below. wording for exams can be unnecessarily complex. half of the stuff on the study guide isnt on the test. take it with someone else
Okay listen, i had him this semster and have taken many criminal justice classes. If you know theories, and have had them previously...sociological, psyc, ex. and just listen to the things he talks about not the slides, you will do fine. I got an A
the class is really interesting and honestly if you go to class and do the readings the tests won't be bad...the study guides are really long and intensive but the actual tests really aren't that bad, plus you get extra credit for participating
Great prof and the best class! The exams are not hard if you come to class and understand the material. Hirschfied keeps the class interesting with a lot of examples, film clips etc.
exams are challenging, attendance mandatory, lectures are boring at times. if you want to really learn about the subject you should take it with someone else. frustrating class
the class is hard.. attendance is mandatory (get over yourself, if you cant attend class then you shouldnt be in college). The material is not complex itself, but when it comes to exam time the exams are difficult- probably because theres a tremendous amount of information that is covered in lectures. I recommend taking it with someone else.
i have to say that i really liked this class. i think that prof hirschfield is a good teacher and he definately puts in effort, which is not always the case with other professors. it is a hard class because exams are challenging, but go to class and study and you will do well. i got an a and i definately worked for it.
Juvenile Justice: Prof Hirschfield is the man!!! The course work was interesting and the exams are not bad if you keep up with the readings and lectures. He challenges you to think for yourself and he does it in away that helps you learn. I recommend this class to anybody who really is interested in learning about the juvenile justice system.
I found Pro. Hirschfield to be extremely helpful and a resource thnroughtout the enire '08 spring semester. As a returning student (twenty two years after high school)Pro. Hirschfield provided a welcoming atmosphere. Education opportunities are what we make them and his class and teaching style made it (criminology) comprehensible. Enjoy learning
Prof Hirschfeild is a really good teacher- he wants to help you learn. He's very smart and although you really have to work hard in his class to do well, it can be done and it's worth it. I plan on taking a class with him again.
This class i'm not going to lie was a LOT of work. You need to read the information more than one for each exam, do the reviews which he gives (that are sooo helpful) and study hard as anything if you want an A. I got an A but I love this kind of stuff. If your looking for an easy class this is not it.
If you go to class and pay attention, you will have no problem doing well. He also hands out review sheets for every exam that give you all the information you need to know and his exams are fair.
Terrible professor in my book. Exam were ridiculously hard. Yes he gave review sheets for each exam but even those were impossible to answer all the questions. I guess if you dont slack off one bit and sat in the front and read and re-read everything it wouldnt be that bad but otherwise dont take his class!! Definitely not an easy A.
The fairest professor i have ever had at Rutgers. Gives an in depth review sheet prior to exam with NO SUPRISES. If you study, you will get good grades. If you slack, you won't (course will pass you by). Intelectually engaging teaching style. Actually CARES how his students do. Great guy, and as aforementioned, extremely fair.
Do NOT take a class with this clown, this guy is completely out of touch. His mandatory lectures are extremely boring and he will load up you inbox with 50 emails everyday. Also, dont bother studying for exams because his review sheets are useless. In depth review sheets are nice, but giving a list of 90 topics for a 60 question exam is pointless.
Great Class!!.. He's a very pleasant guy..prob the easiest class taken thus far. Just read the articles and take good notes on his lectures and youll be fine,i dont know what the kids under me are talking about, it was an interesting class, i got an A nd i would def take another class with him!
I was very skeptical with the vast amount of information Prof Hirschfield wanted us to know. After doing bad on the first test, i read every reading, took notes at every class, and did his awesome review and ended up with a B+. He is a great guy and it is a great class!
i took intro to criminology with him & because of him i changed my major enough said
3 tests (all curved) + 1 announced quiz + small % participation. Easy B because he curves test grades so heavily because they are a little hard. Appears nice, but he wouldn't let me to take the mini-quiz late w/o a DR note when I had a 100+ fever even though he knew I was a good student (attended & participated EVERY class, which is not mandatory).
Took him for Juvenile Justice. He starts the class 5mins early and runs it all the way to the end of period. He expects you to bring printed slides to class yet he uploads them an hour before the class and still uses updated ones to lecture from. Pretty hard tests. Gives you a review sheet about 5pgs long. Try to take some else if you can Good luck
One of those guys who thinks his class is the only one you have all semester. 10 page review guide with unnecessary attention to detail. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
AWFUL! SO MUCH WORK! NOT CLEAR! WORST CLASS EVER! MUST READ EVERYTHING (VERY LONG) AND GO TO EVERY CLASS AND attempt TO PICK UP ON THE MAIN POINTS HE HARDLY EMPHASIZES! RIDICULOUSLY LONG REVIEW SHEET! A STUDENT AND I COULDNT KEEP UP! TERRIBLE!
dont do it to yourself..if you like to have fun and you arent a stick in the mud college student do not take this man, he will rain on your parade big time..hes terriibbblle so bad.
This is my second class with him. he is really smart and he has a lot of real world experience with this stuff. hes a really nice guy and he breaks his back making sure you understand the material. his tests are kind of hard, but if you do all the readings and look at the slides two days before the exam youll probably get an A. Huge curve!!!
His lectures are very dry and boring. He runs his papers through a system that scans every sentence for plagerism, so be extra careful. He gives 10 page study guides that are so tedious to define. I'd avoid his class
This class is not an easy A, as his tests are extremely difficult. He covers a lot of material in class and it can get confusing at times, so watch out. I highly recommend making friends in the class and making a study group to pass the class. He's a nice guy but it is a very boring class, beware. and try to stay awake haha
Professor Hirschfield's exams are not easy or one of those 15 minute exams. His exam questions require good knowledge of the various theories he lecture about. And the key to success (it might sound cliche) is to really attend every class and take good notes, which means things he said outside the powerpoint slides. Pay attention to that.
Prof. Hirschfield's class was not that easy, but it is doable. His exams require that you know his theories well and that means attending class and taking notes on everything he says. Pay attention to things he say that are on powerpt. He is really knowledgeable about the subjects he teach.
Prof. Hirschfied's class may not be the easiest, but it is possible to get a good grade. The key to success is cliche, but students should really attend each lecture and pay attention not only to powerpoint slides, but the information he says on the side. Also, memorize the review sheet: it's long, but it's useful.
AVOID! He may be nice, but you cannot miss one class he is extremely strict and if you miss a class your likely hood of passing the test is low. He is sooooo boring and its hard to stay awake. If you have him good luck.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. he is the WORST professor I've ever had. He's so boring and his exams are so difficult. Everyone i talk to who has him, agrees he is horrible. Don't do it to yourself. Avoid this horrible man at all costs
Avoid this guy completely. First of all just listening to his voice is annoying and he gives you so much reading and unnecessary info. His exams were impossible, I think most of the class got below a 50. His study guides ask 120 questions for a 60 question exam. Completely pointless. Stay away from this guy for any class, not just criminology.
Everyone is exaggerating, yea his tests are hard but guess what he curves SOOO much, which is something people are not saying here. our last test he double curved it. so if the majority of the class do bad he curves it and makes it fair. the readings are annoying. Do the readings, and start the study guide early not the day b4 and u will be fine!
My first and only W. He's really tough and I would not recommend him.
He is a really nice guy Seriously, i took him for juvenile justice and he is now the reason why i wish to study it for my career. If you're not fascinated in the material the class will be tough. He hands out study guides with ALOT of questions, i did them all for the final and got 100. Has a ridiculous curve. Also, looks like Edward Norton :)
My first and only D.... Hard to focus. Tests are hard curves and I still got a D. Now I got to retake this for my major. Please get someone else! PLEASE!
Awful: boring, gives the longest readings, makes the class unnecessarily hard.
paul Hirschfield is the absolute worse professor to ever grace my eyeballs! I literally hope that I will somehow fall into the Raritan when I am on my way to class. he is impossible to pass with anything more than an A. you might as well be in advance Japanese for what its worth. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
Uninteresting lectures that in almost no way relate to the exams, must spend endless time with long pointless readings to still fail the impossible exams, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS you will not pass and have to retake with another teacher
Go to class, take good notes, do the study guides & you'll end up with an A. I'm not the smartest of all but I did this and ended up with 100 in all 3 exams and passed with an A. What you put in is what you get.
This guy is fun to go to class and listen to, but he gives difficult exams. To get an A in the class, just go to every class and take good notes, and once he gives out the study guide for the exam, rearrange it so that it makes more sense. Then study hard for hours on end and you'll be fine. No textbook or reading done and I got an A so it's easy.
Hirsch is the man. He really knows his stuff. His tests are difficult and I like that because I want to be rewarded for my good work. I developed a system in working through his tests. His leftist tendencies reveal themselves often but what do you expect from a Sociologist at Rutgers. Great Guy. Took him for Criminology and Juv Just. 10/10.
Not a gpa booster at all. Im a criminal justice major and this class was not interesting at all. He managed to make it that way. The guy rambles like I've never seen before. Try to avoid this professor. The only plus is he gives a study guide, even though its 100 questions for a 60 question test...
Had him for juvenile justice. Super smart man but expects a lot out of students. Test are super hard but he curves generously. The material and lecture can get dry but he gives his power points to students. So all and all he is a decent professor.
I took him for POLICE and he was great. Probably the best professor I have had at Rutgers. I always looked forward to going to his class. His exams are not easy but if you do a thorough job with the study guide he gives out you will be fine.
Lectures boring, he just rambles on and is unclear and skips around in his notes. MUST go to class, takes attendance and you can only miss 4 classes. Tests are based on what comes out of his mouth in lectures and in the book. Must take notes but its hard to pay attention because he's boring. But he seems nice and helpful. Not an easy class.
Hes a cool guy to hang out and chill. As a professor however, he cant teach. He expects too much of the students, exams are impossible even if you took notes and did the readings. He makes you work for a C. There is no curve anymore, attendance is mandatory and his lectures are way too long and way too boring. AVOID at all cost.
Guy grades so unnecessarily hard and he knows it. He admitted how he wants to make us work hard. Also, he speaks so softly you can barely hear him and never repeats himself. If you miss one little sentence, you're screwed because it could be on the test. Worked really hard and got a B in the class. MAKE THE STUDY GUIDES IF YOU WANT TO PASS. No book
He's a cool guy but IF UR LOOKING FOR AN EASY A DONT TAKE THIS COURSE. I got an A and a C on the 2 exams so might get a B but as an elective it's more effort than it should be. A lot of focus on theories (which I dislike) but moves toward stuff like racial inequalities near the end which is better. Class will be more interesting if you participate.
Boring, long lectures, unbelievably tough and overly specific tests. Actually incredible how little you will learn in this class considering how much he talks. Seems uninterested in helping his students. If you don't want to be sitting around wondering about all the horrible things you would rather do to yourself than go to this class, take another
The material we learn is very interesting, but he managed to make it the most dull lectures ever. He puts about 100 questions on study guide for about 60 on test. The questions on the test are so specific. There's no in class assignments to help you grasp any kind of concept on what were learning. Horrible class & my first D in 19 years of school.
I was compelled to write a review. Arrogant and thinks that since he understands the material that everyone else should right away. Class is 3 tests, a pop quiz, attendance mandatory, and participation points. Try to avoid. I'm sure he's a nice guy outside of class
gives you a different POV into policing as he's studied it a lot more than experienced it (no law enforcement experience, he's a sociologist) but for some reason I was able to understand him better than Khol (who has a lot of experience in law enforcement) Exams are tough but he curves and he really likes participation. I'm sure he means well
Just avoid. He seems nice at first, but his exams are focused on specific, detailed information. He bases a lot of his questions of class, so participation is necessary. He gives you a review sheet, which is pretty much the exam but he consistently uploaded it late. So, you have 2 days to finish 70-80 questions. He makes it too hard for a 200 level
Started with bombing the first exam, but I was lazy and sat in the back. I moved to the front took great notes and started actually paying attention. He gives extra credit to the few people who participate. He says read material before class, I barely skimmed and was able to get an A in the class and a 106 on the final, Not easy but great teacher
You need to read a little and pay attention to lectures to do well. You dont go into quizzes blind, he tells you what to expect and has review sheets for all the exams posted at the beginning of the semester. Listen during lecture and read a little a little and you'll be fine. He's an amazing prof!!
He is a decent professor, but the amount he assigns you to read a night is outrageous. He'll assign 35 pages for a 5 question quiz. 1 quiz per week, he drops the 2 lowest. Attendance is MANDATORY, do not miss it! It's just a lot of work and a LOT of paying attention because his tests are difficultly specific.
Took Dr. Hirschfield's interdisciplinary honors seminar to satisfy an honors requirement, and because it sounded really cool - surveillance, freedom, democracy, etc. He had a super interesting class and discussions were thought provoking and entertaining. He spent a lot of time giving feedback on written assignments, and he graded really fairly.
I took this class because I major in Criminal Justice and honestly, it was horrible. The professor is very lecture heavy and at that, his lectures are beyond boring. He is also very very dependable on the book, so get ready to read. This is an intro course and I feel like I'm taking a 400-level course. If you can, stay away from him.
Took this class as a easier class this semester and he is incredibly hard. He expects you to listen to every word he says in lecture. The slides will not help you if you do not write down what he says word for word.
Very tough exams. Never lets class out early. Lectures are super important.
Makes you work and make sure that your reading ever single word of the text and course readings from Sakai. Never gives direct answers, he says you can post questions on the forum but he never actually answers your questions and instead refers you back to the book or readings. Best to find a another teacher more willing to help students.
He's a quirky guy (you'll see what i mean), but he has good intentions & is very passionate about his subject. U can't miss class, & there's A LOT of reading (but they're interesting!) Class discussions r awesome & he rly wants ppl 2 be engaged. Tests are NOT difficult if you just read. Weekly quizzes can be annoying but the curve is GREAT.
Difficult to get a good grade without doing any of the reading. Absolutely impossible if you don't go to class. A lot of the info on the quiz comes directly from stuff said in class, so just looking at the slides won't help you much. Didn't find tests to be as difficult as everyone here says. If you put in the work, you'll get a good grade.
Okay, I was really stressed out with this class. You have to get out the comfort zone with memorization if you want to pass. You have to learn how to apply and know what theory is which in situations. If you focus too much on memorizing you won't do well! Read the readings and do the discussion forums! Also he will help you if you go to office hour
He gives you 15 page readings for 5 question quizzes that are super specific. His lectures are mainly all statistics and have no real substance in my opinion. You really have to memorize the the lecture slides and go to class. Attendance counts. His "extra credit" might as well be a open ended question on an exam because his graded criteria is hard
Good teacher. Lots of information and truly learned from this class.
i liked hirschield! if u participate a lot he will remember u (good for professional recommendations). hes left leaning and that can spill into his lectures if thats an issue for you. classes are hard to pass b/c his exams are tough but he curves them. dont skip class and study the slides and youll be fine & i also took him for police and got an A
hirschfield is my favorite professor ive ever had at rutgers. he is extremely knowledgable and passionate about what he does. his lectures are very interesting, but if you want to do well on exams, you need go to to class, and you need to take notes. you cant just rely on the powerpoints posted on sakai. not an easy A, but you'll learn alot.
Worst professor ever complete narcissist does not want to help his students. Makes it clear he doesnt care hes a complete hardo and needs to tone it down
really great but come to class and make sure to raise your hand, ALOT!
Listen...I know he has good reviews but I took Gen Chem 161 and 162 & this class was harder than that. Makes his exams VERY difficult for no reason and bases them off of 8 sections/30 pages each. Treated like an upper level class. Doesn't help you if you ask, his lectures have random words and charts. Other professors don't do this DONT TAKE HIM :(
Not the worst, not the best. I did all the readings and got an 100+ on the exams, but that was mostly bc of my studying habits + massive curve. He is not understanding at all; several students had a malfunctioning Canvas quiz that we were taking during lecture-he brushed it off and the students lost the points. Take with someone else if you can
Dr. Hirschfield is a really good person, but not my favorite teacher. Although he shares the Powerpoints online, his exams are also based on what he tells. He shares study guides for exams which consist of more than 60 questions. Grades are curved well. His quizzes are online and consist of 5 questions however, they're based on 20-page readings.
makes you work for it big time. study guide is like 85 questions that each require sentence answers from random readings. makes it unnecessarily hard to enjoy the class or feel like you're learning anything. good guy, def means well but its too much for a 200 level course. cant rely on just ppts, go to class & really listen to what he says.
If you pay attention to classes you'll pass. That's for real since his study guides are literally answering questions that will straight up be on the exam. So if you have all the info you can be as prepared as much as possible with no curve ball questions. I've taken 3 classes with him and gotten all As cause of this. Very nice and forgiving too.
His tests are sooooo hard to understand. He trips you up so muchhh. You shouldn't try and overlook the questions. Just understand the overall concepts and I guess you'll pass.
Professor Hirschfield's test are really hard and wordy, but he gives a curve. Gives reading quizzes with minimal notification also really hard. If you want to learn about criminology without politics in every lecture, take someone else.
Worst teacher I've taken. He really makes you work for the grade so if you like going the extra mile, he's your man. I have taken plenty of criminal justice classes at this point and I can honestly say he's been the worst. I do not recommend and would advise you to take someone else. If you have to take his class for credit (like me) god speed.
Just a really bad professor, I would completely avoid if possible. Tries to trick you on exam questions and was not helpful in the slightest with people taking classes from home. Refused to help us with studying and purposefully made the questions difficult and completely different from the review sheets he gives.
His exams are multiple choice and curved but he doesn't explain the material all that great. Gets too political but what else is new at a college in 2023. Showed some interesting videos throughout the semester. Assigns a lot of reading. Very quiet speaker and his classes often had myself and other students fighting to stay awake.
This has got to be the worst professor I have ever encountered during my time at RU. I took a 1.5 credit sociology policing punishment class with him, and it felt like the workload of a 4 credit. Attendance was mandatory, he assigned 2 books and a article written by himself. A final AND a final paper. Worst experience. High stress for no reason.
He's nice but teaching style is vague. Only grades are the quizzes & exams (curves grade) and both are very hard. Exam study guides are eternal and for the quizzes it's multiple articles with mostly long readings. Quizzes are 5 questions and timed 10 mins, once you answer a question you can't go back and doesn't say what you answered right/wrong.
Challenging class, but doable if you put in the work. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and utilize study tools like Unstuckstudy to prepare for the tough quizzes and exams. The grading can be tricky, but with dedication, you can excel.
Idk why so many people don't like him, if you're not expecting to be handed a passing grade than you'll be more than fine. He curves all exams generously so if you show up to class and study than you'll at the very least pass but it isn't actually THAT hard to do well (B-A range). Participate, show up to all lectures, study from the study guide.
Assigns huge amount of readings. Tries his best to make his homework as hard and as incomprehensible as possible. lectures are completely useless. avoid this person at all costs
Worst prof ever. He makes sure the homeworks are as hard and as incomprehensbile as possible. lecturers are completely useless, carelessly assigning tons of readings. Avoid this person at all costs!
The class is lecture heavy, and the tests are challenging. He uses specific cases on exams so try to be as detailed as possible and the study guide isn't very useful. DO NOT SKIP.
This class was definitely a lot harder than it had to be considering it's a Police course. The exams were pretty tough, but as long as you did the study guide (which I recommend getting started on earlier than exam period) it wasn't too bad. Grading relies on three exams and a paper. I just felt like he focused a lot more on data than content.
The only reason I did not like this class was because of how disorganized it was. Huge paragraphs that he reads the whole time and his study guides are 70 questions with 4-8 questions in each question... It is extremely overwhelming and in "study sessions" he will not give you the answer to one if you are confused. Shouldve taken the 9pm class.
