He's energetic, talks kinda fast, but he's thorough. Make sure you do all the exercises in the book. Also do the study guides, the questions on the exam are identical but with different contents. His class is not boring...highly recommended.

I think he is an awsome instructor. He's funny, intelligent, and very helpful. He may be the best instructor I've ever had. I changed my major to linguistics because of him. I would recommend him for any class.

Good teacher. Make sure you keep up with the readings!! Class does require a lot of time studying, but not too hard if you put your mind to it. He is kind of conceited, and makes you feel stupid if you ask a question. Don't take this class once a week!!

English Grammar for Perspective Teachers...somehow he took that subject and made it energetic. He's the best Linguistics professor at SDSU (trust me, it's my major.) And he's HOT!! I couldn't help but stare at his nice ass!

Yes, it's true. You have to do all of the readings and all of your homework to pass this class. It's a really tough class. Trust me, you can't slack off on this one. Also, don't take it once a week, that's bad news... and not at 7pm-you'll fall asleep

This was one of the harder classes I took at SDSU. He is the most organized professor ever, even giving a 50 point quiz on the syllabus to make sure you understand his expectations. In hindsight, I learned so much and I actually apply it!

Ling 420 is a hard class, you have to study. He makes the class easy if you follow all his steps. Everything was take home, but the final. The final is in class -half your grade! If your looking for an easy class don't take LING 420, but if your willing to study he's the guy to take the class with.

Very demanding class. It's not easy, but if you keep up on the reading and the work, it'll make it easier. He is VERY helpful and always has time for you. Make sure you have time for this class though!!!

Great professor! Exams are straight forward and all are take home w/ the exception of the final. He makes class interesting. Always go to class! You will regret it if you don't! Listen to his suggestions and keep to them! Class is hard but an A is possible, I got one!

this class is HARD! but of course if you SHOW UP to class n do those hw assignments,and do the reading then you shouldn't have a problem. make sure u follow the advice (plan) he gives u. make sure u ask him ?s about something if u don't understand it, bc u will fall behind!

this professor is all business. he manages to keep the class alive for the most part. very difficult material is covered, so dont expect to pass if you dont show up 99% of the time! you have to ask the right questions to get the right answers with him... going to his office hours isn't an easy way to get a good grade! hard work gets a good grade!

This class was difficult, but fun too. go to every class & do the homework,you'll pass. having a study group to go over homework/test b4 class-great idea. you will either like him or hate him because of his style-very fast paced class.

Excellent teacher. Works as hard as he can to keep you interested and teach you the material, not just to pass a test but to understand what is going on. Built my entire schedule around making sure I was in his class. Looks like Matt Vasgersian.

Awesome teacher! Do the reading and quizzes and you'll do fine. If you don't understand the take home exams ask for help! That was my biggest mistake...so my grade was my own fault.

F-ing hard class. Take home tests still take hours to do, even with the notes and book, and are rediculously detailed. Final counts for half the grade, though you get to use notes and book. Otherwise he's a cool teacher and keeps class pretty interesting.

He's a GREAT professor and he makes the concepts understandable. The material is difficult if you don't attend classes (reading only partially helps). The class consists of in class assignments, reading quizzes, take home quizzes, take home midterms, and one comprehensive final. If you MUST take this class, take Justice.

My best advice to you is: FOLLOW HIS PLAN. I guarantee you will get an A. This class is not easy but Justice walks you through it. You need to be in class and do reading (about 10pgs.) before class, every class.

i loved this class. i've never had a teacher that could explain such difficult material with such patience and clarity. this is a hard class. don't skip out on going, and make sure you do the reading and the online tests. justice is a great teacher, i wish he was teaching 452!!!

Justice makes it possible to pass this class. The book pretty much spells out the bottom line for you. And he explains everything again clearly in lecture. Don't skip lecture even if you think you got it. Do the reading, before class, do the reading quizzes online, and give a few hours for the two take home tests...

the material is tough! You dont have to be in class but if you want a good grade, you really should be. This class was tough but Justice was a very thorough instructor. He wrote the textbook so there is never any misunderstandings. Lecture is on CD plan 2 hrs to listen before class. If you have to take this class, take it with him! He's good!

This class was EZ. Justice gives online quizzes,two take-home tests (he allows you to work with others)He gives some in-class quizzes, but you can work with others on them. The final exam is the only test that is in class and that you must do independently. If you can't get an A in this class, it's because you're dumb or have a full load.

He explains everything pretty well and answers all questions. But, there's online quizes due every class and you take them before he goes over the material. Quizes are based on reading doen at home which makes them a bit hard. 2 mid terms 150 pts & hard. Final 450 pts and total points for class is 1000. He's a bit of a stickler. Hard class!

*note- class is basic comparable to sdsu course. The textbook is confusing, but I'd get the one he wrote. You really need to do homework and lecture quizes directly after the class or it'll be a bit of a challenge. Let us have 1 take-home test due to Wildfires 07, ask him about it! Kinda hard, but I got a B+ and an A on the first two tests.

This class was a lot of fun--you don't need to be a linguistics major to like it. Not hard at all--just do the work and you'll get an A or a B for sure

One of the best teachers Ive had at State. Makes learning fun, has a sincere love for teaching, and is well organized for class each day.

Comes to class prepared every session. Will create a lecture on your area of difficultly if you email him ahead of time. Follows the syllabus so attendance is not necessary except for tests. You know what is due and when its due and it doesnt change. Great guy and loves to help if you show effort.

Paul's class was one of the best classes I've taken at State. He's meticulously organized and obviously passionate about the subject. How anyone can say he's not helpful is beyond me. If you email him ahead of time, he'll actually change his powerpoint slides for the class to discuss your question. Who does that?!? Amazing professor.

easiest class ever! i never went and got an a-. lectures are really interesting and dr justice is a great teacher (a little pervy though... straight up, i wanted to hit that until i realized how he seizes every opportunity to make innuendos). overall a great class

Although this was not an easy class for me I ended up doing ok. Justice is extremey organized and gives you all the material you need to succeed. If you take the time to listen to lectures and do the practice work you will be fine! Overall great professor!!

Best Teacher Ever! He is super organized and everything he expects of you is written on his syllabus. He is welcoming at his office hours and really knows the material well (he did write the book). Read, listen to his lectures, do the book work, use his lecture docs and take the quiz ALL BEFORE CLASS and you will do great. Don't slack. I got an A:)

very organized. it can be hard but he makes it easy. He really tries to make everyone understand it. if you don't understand it, he explains it again and again, and he helps us keep practicing. it's open-book tests so you don't have to feel stressful of memorizing.

Professor Justice is the best! He's super organized and let's you know EXACTLY what he expects out of you. It doesn't get easier than that. Do the assignments, go to class, ask questions, don't procrastinate on the 2 papers and you really can't fail. Plus, he brings candy to class. I mean, come on, he's awesome.

I honestly do not understand some of the negativity in the other comments. I thought Justice was an amazing teacher. There are not that many lecturers that can keep my attention for almost 3 hours. He is also very willing to help. But do not forget that the subject is DIFFICULT. DO NOT SLACK IN THIS CLASS. You will regret it

How could anyone dislike Professor Justice? He is hands-down the best professor I have ever had at SDSU and I am so glad that I've been able to take another class with him. The assignments are quick and this class is really fun and easy. If you attend lectures, you'll never be confused about assignments. A+++ professor!

Justice is the best! You can trust his calendars, he sets clear expectations of what he expects for his students and best of all he brings candy to class every week! Students who complain about this class often do not approach him for help which is why they struggle the way that they do. Ask when you need help and he's there for you. Loved LING430!

Took 430 abroad WORST IDEA EVER: Daily: Readings + BB Quiz, 2 HWs, 30-45minPodcast, Obsrvations + Papers, Class. No time to digest. Content piles and is all related. DO NOT TAKE SHORT TERM. Great, funny guy. Content seems easy, during a normal semester class would be OK. PLENTY of chances to pass, Cookies (extra credit) in class only, makeups.

Don't let people convince you that Paul is a bad teacher. 420 is just a really hard class but he makes the experience so much better. I had a C the entire semester but it was still my favorite class. He wants you to succeed and gives you SO many resources to do so. Show up and listen, read the book, listen to the online lectures, find study buddies

It's work but it's worth it! Professor Justice really prepares you for future Linguistics courses and for being a teacher. The textbook is easy to read, contains great information, and works along with the lectures easily, since the professor actually wrote it! Attendance isn't mandatory but strongly advised! Plus he makes great dumb puns.

He is the best LING teacher. He will lead you to all the information, but it's on you to actually learn it because there is so much. Most of his tests are open note and open book, and the LING tutors can be really helpful.

Linguistics is a very difficult course, but Professor Justice made it 1,000 times better. He is understanding and transparent. Homework isn't too bad because you do homework practice, which is identical to the actual assignment. No test, and the final is completely open note/book. Honestly such an amazing professor.
